Akatsuki Ranked: which is the worst to just have randomly show up on your doorstep

As in, you may or may not be someone they are looking for, but this is worse than running into them in public because they are at your house and paying attention to you.

Itachi: He is. Well. He claims to be a pacifist, he's just bad at it. If he's there to kill you it will be quick and painless. If he is there to kidnap you you'll just get genjutsu'd. If he's there because he like. Needs to borrow your phone, or a cup of milk or something, he will be polite-ish. You could do worse. It will probably be uncomfortable because he is a tremendously awkward individual, but not that bad. He might even make you forget he was even there. How nice and definitely not slightly horrifying.

Kisame: as a large blue shark man with a giant sword he is very upsetting to come across unexpectedly. You... really don't want him to be there for you, specifically. His gameplan for preventing naruto escaping was "what if we cut off his legs". He's probably fine if he just needs a favor and you happened to be the closest person!

Konan: if Konan has personally come to your door it is because she is here to collect you, and disagreeing is really not an option. She's too important to need a favor from a random civilian so she MUST be here for you. If she was here to kill you she wouldn't have knocked. Presumably, the fact that she came herself and didn't delegate is because she wanted you alive. Come quietly and you might not die horribly. Hopefully.

Deidara: the best version of deidara to have show up on your doorstep is one that is missing both arms and dripping blood all over the carpet. It is perhaps the one version of Deidara who won't cause you to die in an explosion, and he needs you alive to dial the phone for him. The bad news is that he might call someone ELSE to come pick him up, and then just flop down on your couch, getting blood on that, too. And then you have to deal with whoever he called.

Pein: You open the door. There is an terrifying corpse with bright purple eyes staring at you unblinkingly. You hear a sound behind you of the back door, or perhaps several windows breaking. If you could manage to turn around you would see several other very similar corpses. This is all horribly dramatic, you think. No matter what he's there for, it is not going to be good.

Sasori: Him showing up with the goal of capturing or killing you is, uh, bad. Very painful death, and you'll probably be turned into a puppet. Or spare parts. If he's just there for a favor from a random civilian, he might just hit you with a paralyzing poison and take whatever he needs without asking. You know. If he's feeling nice. There is a non zero chance he might just puppetize you anyways, if you look interesting enough. There's a small chance he might hit you with a sleeper agent seal and that is one of the better outcomes.

Obito: He's not going to kill you. But he will do his level best to make you have a mental breakdown. He will raid your fridge. He will "accidentally" break things. He might "accidentally" set himself on fire and then flail around and break more things. If he is kidnapping you he will not drop the act the entire time, and it will be awful, because despite the fact that he acts like an immature idiot child, he is terrifyingly skilled, and there is no way of escaping, even though it really seems like there should be.

Kakuzu: he's not going to knock, he is simply going to break the door. One of the most likely to show up specifically to kill you, because someone else paid him to do it. If he isn't, he will still just blatantly take things that he wants/look valuable and you will be helpless to stop him, because he is a man composed of solid muscle and slightly less solid tentacles.

Hidan: Repent, sinner, for you shall know the name of the god of suffering. (You will die. Badly.)

Zetsu: He doesn't really have any needs, and he doesn't get sent on regular missions, so if he's there... yeah, he'll just show up through the floor and eat you. Why are you like this, Zetsu.

Very Random Akatsuki Headcanons

Sasori would 100% have a garden, and most of the stuff he grows would be illegal or highly toxic. He would ask Zetsu for tips a lot and force Deidara to help him weed it even though Deidara will LOUDLY complain about it the whole time. Sasori will gently sing to/ talk to his plants when he thinks no one is looking.

Kisame the type to nag others about how important it is to drink water and stay hydrated but. He has never fully finished one single bottle of water. Any place they are, you can immediately tell that Kisame’s been there because every surface area will have plastic water bottles sitting on it with various levels of water in them.

Hidan has many, many bad teeth, mostly in the back of his mouth. Missing, chipped, cavities or straight rotting. Always in some level of pain but never seeks out help because you know, Lord Jashin encourages personal suffering. Was finally tentacle-held to a chair by Kakuzu and forced to let Sasori do what repair work he could after the others got tired of hearing him curse and grumble all night over his mouth pain. Absolutely loves his new smile afterwards but never admits it.

Every single member of the Akatsuki has at some point had a crush on Konan. Including Zetsu. But it went away once each member started seeing her as a sister or mother figure. The only one it didn’t go away for is Nagato, but he’d never admit his true feelings because he values their friendship and working relationship too much.

Itachi likes to collect rocks. He’s an amateur geologist and enjoys finding different types of stones when he’s out on missions. The others learn this about him and will sometimes take the time after missions or when traveling to pick up “pretty” rocks to bring back to him.

Deidara has a lot of anxiety and restlessness, and keeping himself busy alleviates that. He prefers doing things with his hands which is why he’s always making little sculptures with his clay. If no clay is available he’ll tap or drum his fingers on things or fiddle with his hair. The faster his fingers move it means the more anxious he feels. Sasori would get annoyed by this behavior so he created for Dei what would essentially be a ninja world version of a fidget-spinner. Deidara loved it and he makes sure to pack it with him whenever he leaves on missions.

Nagato’s fingers are often bloody because he’s a nail-biter to the extreme. He’ll chomp those things down right to the quick of the finger. The others will “gift” him gloves to try and prevent this from happening, and it’ll work for while, but sooner or later he’s right back at it again.

Deidara once gained ten pounds in two months because Tobi kept convincing him to stop at sweets cafes while they were out traveling, and then to have seconds and thirds of whatever they were eating.

Kakuzu figured out that Hidan didn’t know how to read when Hidan would avoid looking at the map on missions and kept giving Kakuzu wrong information about sign posts along roads. After a lot of convincing that he wasn’t “making fun of him”, Kakuzu finally got Hidan to let him teach him basic reading and math skills over the course of a year.

When Orochimaru was a part of the Akatsuki, one day he managed to get Konan alone and was hitting on her in a very creepy Jiraiya-esque way. Turns out that he was merely trying to get her to trust him so that, when he ultimately left the Akatsuki, he would be able to convince her to follow so he could study her body and paper-jutsu. Having had no close experiences with women other than Tsunade, who always responded favorably to flirtatious behavior, he’d assumed that this was how ALL women would react. If Itachi hadn’t driven Oro away, Konan would have blindsided and killed him first.

Nagato (in a Pein body) gave the sex talk to Deidara, Hidan and Itachi. All three of them hadn’t the slightest clue about how anything worked in that regard. Sasori gave him diagrams out of his medical books to aid in his talk. Nagato kept having to add on to his talk because of the questions. “What if you’re a guy who likes guys? How does that work?” “What if you don’t like anyone like that, or you don’t want to ever do those kind of things; is that okay?”

In strong sunlight:

Konan burns bright red.

Itachi and Hidan brown.

Zetsu withers.

Nagato dehydrates within two minutes. As does Kisame.

Deidara sprouts freckles.

Sasori smells like a fire.

Obito and his Hashirama cell DNA photosynthesize like a damn tree.

Kakuzu also turns into a freckle-factory but because his skin is already so dark, it’s unnoticeable.

Sasori has fairly moderate misophonia and especially can’t stand the sound of people chewing. It was one of his primary reasons for turning his body into a puppet; so he no longer had to endure the sound of himself eating. He thought he’d died and gone to hell when he found out that Deidara chews food with all three mouths.

Deidara likes Tobi to read to him at night. It gives him a very comfortable sleepy feeling. The more Deidara nods off the more Tobi lets his voice become more natural/Obito. This is pleasant to Obito because doing the “Tobi voice” all day puts a huge strain on his throat, so it’s nice to be able to break character once in a while and speak normally.

Hidan is extremely sensitive to the cold and will do anything to avoid having to travel or do missions in the winter.

Konan has kept a diary of her life ever since she was a child. She picked up the habit of writing during the period when Jiraiya was staying with/watching over her, Nagato and Yahiko.

Deidara developed a hell of a crush on Kakashi after “meeting” and getting his arms blown off by him and the Konoha nin. He’d gush about Kakashi for days afterward … to Tobi. Tobi who had to grit his teeth and not start screaming over how Kakashi unintentionally attracted everyone that Obito was ever interested in.

Itachi (would be higher but often smells like strong, bitter medicine and night-sweats)

Obito never killed his grandmother during the Uchiha massacre. He used a very powerful jutsu to erase her memory and then relocate her to a place in a village far away that took care of the elderly. He pays the facility with the money he earns/steals during missions, and every so often he’ll go and visit her at night, when she’s alone in her room. She doesn’t know who he is and just thinks that he’s a nice young man that’s there because he’s visiting somebody else.

Kisame loves to bake. It started because he was worried over Itachi being so thin and never seeming to want to eat anything other than desserts. So Kisame taught himself how to make cakes and pies and cookies, etc. Over time it became a zen-like activity to him that helps him relax and clear his head when he’s stressed out.

Kakuzu is as vain over his hair as Deidara is over his own. At least once a week they’ll get together and give each other trims and deep conditioning treatments. Sometimes Itachi will join if he feels up to it. Hidan mocks them for this but is secretly trying to grow his hair longer so that he can join them.

Itachi — He likes sweet food. He'll order something you didn't even know was real, like a lavender latte, or a smoked salted vanilla frappe. "Does your drink even have coffee in it?" you may ask, dubiously eyeing what appears to be cup of lightly flavoured simple syrup piled high with freshly whipped cream. Yes, yes it does. Itachi is the tiredest person on this team, and that's including the guy who is just 6 dead bodies in a trench coat. Do not order him decaf.

Kisame — He's pretty easygoing. He'll take whatever, and then while the barista is making it he'll tell them that sharks can have milk because some of them don't have umbilical cords. He consumed the milk shed from his mother's uterus lining, like a great white, after eating his siblings. How fun. Sir, here's your coffee.

Kakuzu — Kakuzu is a pile of stolen hearts and tentacles condensed into roughly human shape. He can't taste the coffee, but his hearts respond to the caffeine. He will have whatever option comes with unlimited refills.

Hidan — Orders something new every time and hates it every time. He doesn't like bitter flavours. He has not yet made the connection between "coffee" and "bitter notes" in the formal way that would permit him to stop trying it. He complains about the taste every time. Bonus: caffeine only affects him for about 2.5 minutes.

Konan — Konan never had coffee growing up (she didn't have a lot of things growing up!) so now it's kind of a novelty. She's mostly a tea drinker but when she has coffee she takes whatever variation of 1 part coffee and 2 parts milk is easiest. She's not a connoisseur of latte foam vs cappuccino froth, etc., etc. She likes to watch the rain fall, dry and cosy in her oversized coat, while her coffee steams gently into the humid air over the village.

Pein — Nagato doesn't like to put extra fluids into his bodies because they're dead and if you alter the water content on the inside it can be very hard to maintain them in the state of preservation he prefers. He watches Konan drink, though.

Sasori — Sasori is an arty bitch, but not a "with lavender smoked honey," kind of wanky art bitch. He's a traditionalist. Espresso. With sparkling water. The tinier the demitasse, the better.

Deidara — Deidara wants a fancy sweet little treat but he's still young enough to get mad that he doesn't drink serious grown up drinks. He'll order something black and bitter and then sulk about it. What he really wants is exactly the kind of fancy and ridiculous coffee drink Itachi orders, but he's already set himself against this and mocked Itachi about it. Watch him toss back his coffee and slam the empty cup onto the table like he's doing shots of bad tequila.

Zetsu — A cafe macchiato. This is a trap because a "spotted," coffee is either all milk spotted with a bit of coffee (which is what the writer understands to be common in America) or all coffee spotted with a dab of milk (common in other parts of the world). Either way, when you serve it to him, the order will be wrong according to at least one side of his body. ;—;

Tobi — Drinks his coffee mixed 1:1 with sweetened condensed milk. Is the sweet tooth genetic?

(Honorary) Orochimaru — Orochimaru is also a pretentious arty bitch, but in his case, his order isn't intended to communicate artsy-ness about himself to the outside observer. It's instead carefully calculated to communicate that he's a snob and to stress out the barista tasked with making it for him. He wants your single origin in a double ristretto with a 3/4 cup of silky milk. If you make a latte and just don't fill it up all the way, he will know. No, really. He'll know.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT NARUTO WAS LOOKING FOR THAT PERSON HE WANTED TO SHOW HIS VICTORY WITH. I thank Kishi for small but deep details like these. Hinata was so deserving to see this moment but too bad Hinata was out cold, would love to see how proud Hinata would look for Naruto and preferably happy and thankful bc Naruto managed to knock some sense into her cousin Neji :

The Akatsuki as Things I’ve Heard the Pre-K and Kindergarten Kids Say at my School

Deidara:

“My hair is so pretty. Isn’t it so pretty? Do you want to touch it? My mom says it’s so pretty!”

“We used to be friends but then he borrowed my green crayon and he didn’t ask and he broke it in half and I couldn’t color my picture so now we’re not friends anymore.”

Itachi:

“I’m really tired. I forgot how to make my eyes close to go to sleep.”

“My new little brother is so cute. But he cries too much. My mom let me hold him and he pooped. I think we should have got a cat instead.”

Tobi:

“My mom put fruit snacks in my lunch. I want candy but she said fruit snacks are healthy. I don’t want healthy I want purple skittles!”

Me: “You’re going to stay here until you stop pulling her hair.”

Child: “Can you ask her not to have hair tomorrow so I won’t pull it?”

Kisame: 

“You can’t take my stick it’s mine! No it’s not a weapon it’s just a stick! See? *hits another child over the head with it* It doesn’t even hurt see?!”

Hidan:

“Jackson said a bad word! My grandpa says you go to hell for using bad words!”

Konan:

“I don’t like writing on papers. Papers are pretty. Have you seen the paper with glitter on it? We should leave the paper alone. Why can’t we write on tablets instead?

Nagato:

“I have a dog. I have three dogs. I have a cat. I have a bird, it sings sometimes. I used to have a fish but it died. I have too many pets. They’re everywhere. They want food all the time.”

Kakuzu:

“My dad gave me $5 for the book fair. I don’t want a book but I told him I wanted a book because I wanted the money. I wish he gave me more. You can’t buy any pokemon cards with $5 except maybe one or two. A kid in my class sells them but some cost like $10. Why didn’t my dad give me $10? He’s not my favorite my mom is.”

Zetsu: 

“My mom has a garden. She waters it but everything always dies. Even the yellow flowers. I told her not to give the cat too much water because it might die too. But I don’t like the cat anyway. It bites me.”

Sasori:

“I don’t play with dolls anymore. I’m too old for dolls. But the Sims are kinda like dolls except you can make them die if you leave them in a pool or a fire. I really like playing Sims.”

I really enjoy Zohakuten and Rui as a duo and I see absolutely nothing for them together so I decided to write a little something for them. It’s purely platonic and it’s set in the modern universe. TW, mentions of smoking, stress, bullying and also fighting and blood. Enjoy!

Zohakuten had awoken to his older brothers yelling at each other. He already woke up with a headache because of those losers and it made him want to bash his head into the wall.

“KARAKU. STOP PESTERING AIZETSU AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL.” He heard his oldest and msot annoying brother yell. That was Sekido for you. Always yelling and being an absolute pain in the ass.

Zohakuten climbed out of bed, grumbling and rubbing his eyes as he stumbled out into the hallway and try to ignore the crossfire. Urogi and Karaku were pushing his other brother, Aizetsu, around who looked like he was about to cry.

“Oi! You fucking idiots! Quit being assholes and leave Zetsu alone!” He yelled at them and his brothers immediately stopped.

“Morning, Zo.”

“Shut the fuck up, Karaku.”

“Someone’s in a mood~ What’s wrong? Have you started your man period-“ Zohakuten slammed the bathroom door in Karaku’s face and locked it so he could shower and wash his face in peace. After he was all clean and dried off, he brushed his teeth and fixed his unruly and messy hair. Zohakuten didn’t bother for appearances. Everyone at his school kinda excluded him since he was kinda aloof and very introverted…and people were also intimidated by him. So he didn’t exactly have any friends besides his brothers and they aren’t good friends.

He wrapped a towel around him and peaked out the door to see if the coast was clear. Thank God that it was. He went to his room to throw on his uniform. Zohakuten wanted to rub his temples and hit something in frustration because it seemed like he was growing and would need a new pair of shoes. They didn’t exactly have the best living situation and he also got into fights all the time so it didn’t help but put more stress on Sekido’s shoulders. Zohakuten can’t help that everyone wants to test him.

Zohakuten left his room, seeing that Aizetsu and Sekido were in the kitchen, making breakfast.

“Morning, Zohakuten.” Sekido greeted him in his usual grumpy tone, a cup of black coffee in his hand. He was scrambling eggs for them all.

“Good morning, Zoha.” Aizetsu quietly greeted him, watching the bacon sizzle.

“Morning…I think I’m just going to head out.” Zohakuten told the two.

“Without breakfast?!” Sekido looks shocked, furrowing his brows together, “At least take a piece of toast or something.”

“No, thanks,” Zohakuten grabbed his bags, slinging it over his shoulder, “Tell Urogi and Karaku that I said bye.” And he left midway when Sekido was yelling at him. Zohakuten was in his 2nd year of Junior High. He basically considers himself an adult already since he took care of himself after his mother passed away. Their dad was never in the picture. He always felt extreme guilt for their mother passing since she died giving birth to him. Aizetsu would always assure Zohakuten that it wasn’t his fault but whenever him and Sekido would argue, Sekido would use it against him. Zohakuten just shook his head, trying to get the hurtful thoughts out of his head.

Zohakuten and his quadruplet of brothers lived in the rundown part of town. There would be crimes everyday here and Sekido would always stress himself out. Sekido never would admit it out loud about how stressed he got but Zohakuten could smell the cigarette smoke on his older brother. He knows that Sekido smokes to relieve stress but he also knows that it is bad. He tried a cigarette and never wanted to do it again.

The walk to school was pretty long. It was quite the distance and was in a crime free and more kept up with part of town. He walked in and went to his locker to change his shoes. That’s when he noticed him.

A pale student with even paler hair and strange markings on his face and with the prettiest blue eyes. Zohakuten thought he kinda resembles a spider but the student didn’t seem to have any friends. He thought maybe this was his chance…nah, friends are overrated. He doesn’t need any friends! He huffs, slamming his locker shut and walking away from the new student.

He got to math first and that new student just seems to be haunting him because he was in that class! Zohakuten learned his name was Rui. Rui looked weak and fragile to him. Like his Grandpa, Urami before he passed away. Zohakuten couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy watching Rui interact with a popular classmate, Senjuro.

Senjuro was loved by everyone. His brother was a teacher at the high school and everyone just seemed to love him. Senjuro is everything that Zohakuten wished he could be but he was not. He had a stable home life, parents, a good big brother and easily made friends with people.

Rui seemed happy to converse with Senjuro. Zohakuten thought it was funny how weak the two looked together. They had no one to protect them but themselves. It seemed like Rui was actually haunting him and it was literally concerning him to have this new kid in every single one of his classes.

He thought his eyes were pretty, though he was pale and looked like he was going to die any second. Zohakuten didn’t say anything. Lunch came around and Zohakuten never really ate. He didn’t have anyone to sit with so he skipped out on meals so he walked around the hallways. He wasn’t supposed to. He was actually going to head back until he heard shouting.

“Please! Don’t hurt me! I didn’t do anything!”

“Shut up! I don’t even know why you came here, you pathetic piece of trash!”

“Ouch! Please stop!” Zohakuten couldn’t help but let curiousity get the better of him so he went to investigate. Only to see Rui getting kicked by these two kids and them laughing.

“Give us your lunch money. Come on! Or are you so sickly that all of your parent’s money goes to you? Are you that much of a burden?” The other bully laughs, going to stomp on Rui’s face. That was until he got pushed.

“Hey! Who the hell do you- AHHH!” The other kid turned around to defend his friend only to get socked right in the nose.

“How rude of you two.” Zohakuten stood in front of Rui, “Bullying the weak. Truly how pathetic of you, awful, awful villians. You guys deserve nothing in the world.” The kid who got punched in the face was crying, clutching onto his bleeding nose. Rui was so surprised that he was getting help. Usually people just leave him be.

“Hey! How dare you hurt my friend!” The main bully’s friend lunged at Zohakuten again only to get kicked away and tackled to the ground. He didn’t really have much time to react to getting tackled to the ground because Zohakuten kept landing blow to blow to his face until he started crying just like his other friend. He still didn’t stop until Rui had yanked him off.

The two bullies were sobbing down, holding onto their faces.

“Now, you know better than to snitch, right? In your last ask about Tori being reborn into Naruto, one of the tags mentions the akatsuki being reborn? Do you mind going into that? As in the akatsuki being reborn into different villages after they die?

no, the premise is more like a time travel fic where the time travelers end up in their younger bodies. so the akatsuki are still themselves but now they have.... Future Knowledge(tm). i've been going back and forth a lot on how this would change their decision making processes because obviously some of them could have huge effects on the canon plot. kakuzu, for example, is old enough he could probably prevent any ninja village from being founded in he played his cards right.

some ideas:

i am intrigued by the idea of kakuzu killing hashirama and preventing konoha from ever happening, but also this isn't the story to explore that. instead he decides to fuck off and be a missing-nin earlier, because he doesn't want to fuck with his village any more than he has to

hidan makes zero changes to his life. good job, hidan

sasori still makes himself a puppet, but maybe does it when he's older? like i feel like when i was 16 i was like "yeah, being a teenager forever is a good idea" but as an adult i'm like "but sasori would be so hot if he actually looked 35?" also he might get taller. so i think with the wisdom of age he might wait a bit. i also feel like he might have the motivation/ability to interfere in how the war that killed his parents went (i think it was the second one?) but that's another moving piece i'm still rotating

i haven't decided how this is going to play out in plasticity, but for this AU let's say konan and pein understand zetsu/obito's roles in ruining the world. they preemptively murder obito, oops. depending on how they do this (and how aware minato is of how obito died), it means ame's relationship with konoha could look REAL different. also not 100% sure what i want to do with yahiko/ame in general. still rotating this part

konan and pein's intervention does mean minato & kushina are still alive and kicking. itachi is confused but he's going with this. danzo's still a slimeball but the massacre isn't really on the table anymore. i'm also leaning towards a scenario where itachi is really, really bad at pretending to be A Normal Child and ends up in ANBU even earlier and is confused about why he's unhappy with this

without obito around to brainwash the mizukage, kiri is more stable and kisame is just chugging along there (although he's firmer about turning down some missions--- and good enough no one can really argue with him)

Deidara's origin story in Plasticity is that his family is just some farmers with proto-mouth hands and Iwa is paying them to churn out a bunch of children to see if they can make a new bloodline limit. Some of the gamete donors are likely ninja, but Deidara was born on a farm and not slorped up into the Iwa system never to see his family again until he was Academy age. Post time travel, Deidara remembers family never paid much attention to him, and he has no reason to want to go back to Iwa, so he just runs away at like age 5

The crux of all this is that none of them actually knows the entire akatsuki has time traveled. Like Nagato and Konan obviously know the other one time traveled and everyone is aware this timeline is Different, but it hasn't occurred to anyone to seek out other members and they don't bump into each other organically because they're all in very different parts of the world. Since she's the main character, obviously Tori gets to the catalyst for people running into each and pointing like the spiderman meme

Since Tori doesn't HAVE a family in Ninjaland to be reborn into, she's brought up as an orphan in a ninja clan that unaffiliated with any village. I just like the idea that there's still some of these kicking around. Since she's not a real part of the family, she gets treated like shit and doesn't really get formal ninja training. B U T the family heads are entering Cahoots with Orochimaru and he's like: what's this? Spare orphans???

Orochimaru obviously eventually completely fucks over the family (maybe they have some interesting kekkai genkai/jutsu he just runs off with while their home burns), but Tori knows exactly what to say and how to act to get into his good graces. But ALSO she's acutely aware she's playing a very dangerous game and abandons ship a few years later, preferably in a very dramatic way where she screws over Orochimaru as much as she can.

(Revenge? She's not worried about that. This is only endearing herself to him.)

I'm going back and forth on what her ~abilities~ are, but I want to keep that she has no elemental affinity. I also can't see her as someone whose gut reaction to a situation would be "I can fight my way out of this" even if she's technically been trained to be competent at it. What she DOES have is a new and creative ways to push the field of fuinjutsu forward. Also toyed around with the idea of misappropriating medical jutsu to fuck shit up? she is not a taijutsu specialist but you should not fight her hand-to-hand, oops

Tori is right between Deidara and Itachi in age so I was thinking while she's wandering around as a 12 year old feral ninja or whatever she is, she somehow runs into Deidara? And then something goes EXTREMELY WEIRD and they both end up in Konoha. This Deidara is technically affiliated with Iwa, but he was never one of them and he's obviously a genius, so I think most of Konha leadership would be like :EYES EMOJI: at him? Tori was affiliated with Konoha's scariest missing-nin, so.... that's suspicious, but also something something she's deidara one friend and that kid needs someone else's braincell.

so, my EXTREMELY convoluted and cracktastic take was then: Minato needs to do something super sneaky at a Chunin Exam for some reason. He wants to send in a fake genin team as entrants, but he'd prefer to use younger shinobi so there's less suspicion. Kushina has been bugging him for a genin team for years. He gives her the extra super special DISASTER team of Itachi, Deidara and Tori*

*tbh i don't super like kushina but i like the idea of her as tori's mentor. their personalities are VERY different but i think kushina would ave a lot of sympathy for a young girl trying to settle into a foreign village, oh and also do you want to do something wild with yogurt

Playing with a new graphic. As for my opinion on the series. This is its only logical conclusion in my opinion. This isn't any hate for boruto as I have only seen parts, Though suffice to say it, im uninterested and have no plans on watching it either. To me the show ended after the infinite tsukiyomi, despite all of the growth that our favorite characters go through thats just something to powerful to not succumb to. The type of storyline created afterwards is very pleasing to the fanbase, to pleasing. It is literally everything a happy ending should be, atleast until borutos characters are revealed. But that is just it boruto is strange in that way, its world is oddly familiar yet completely ignorant of the fact that the ninja world is a world stricken with the turmoil from conflicting interests. It is the same world, nothing has changed, everyone is a bit friendlier but they will eventually be put at odds friends or not. As for the actual events of the infinite tsukuyomi, it happened, it cannot be undone, any remaining and logical enemies were already handled, rinnegan captured, byakugan eliminated, they literally ignored the byakugans power the entire series, the only thing stronger than sharingan, then captured the strongest doujutsu of them all. and then spliced the ultimate, pain and blood soaked path of the sharingan, with the deadly, strange, and self sacrificing, disease of a doujutsu. The Byakugan received no growth and all of its strong users killed making it virtually ineffective. Byakugan remains un weaponized throughout the entirety of the war. Despite all the hindered plans, the knowledge gained, and prophecy discovered. They just abandoned it entirely. Now that being said, its not that the characters didn't grow or finally get that reciprocation they needed but it ends once its tsukuyomi is activated, everything else is a delusion within a delusion only getting close enough to the lives they used to live, as they get closer to their bodies death, which my assumption would be by starvation. And possibly even turning them into another form of zetsu at best...or worst? The ninjas could never live in a world without chakra or violence, it is simply to alien. So they are given lives, just close enough, without any of the effects on the actual world to make them feel at ease. Boruto and his life are just the makings of someones fantasy, whose? Hinatas? Sakuras? Who knows. But it can't be someone who knows of Narutos Bloodlines. He is related to everyone down the line, the uzumakis being a precursor to many of the strongest bloodlines and kekkai genkai wielding users. None of his children remotely resemble their ancestors and are almost carbon copy naruto 2 and hinata 2. They completely forgoe all of narutos natural blood rites. And their possibilities. As the rest of the students formed of the relationships are also in some ways a means to an end. While sakura and sasuke end up together sasuke is always away because neither of the two will ever know him that well. Hinata never really did, and sakura also really has no idea who he is. Only Naruto, Orochimaru, juugo, karin, suigetsu, and kabuto know who he is. He has virtually no personality at all going forward. Liking sakura fine, marrying and having a kid with her? The fanbase raped his entire character. The person whose memory is being conceived can only be someone who knows basic information about him and his demeanor. Aside from me getting away from my point and poking holes in boruto, its probably not a bad series. But I also don't believe that naruto had to continue. How the prophecy was told, how it was stretched all the way to the end, how at every juncture it continued unimpeded, how it reached the absolute maxim of its potential. Only to be broken in a few moments? Not even in the same decade, at the minimum. A century in the making and not for a century less is all i can say. Try going to sleep for 2 minutes. Tell me how much time passes afterwards. Anyways thats the block limit. And hopefully i can let my piece rest. Feel free to take yours.

Speculation from the cavern Part II

I once wrote a realistic headcanon where I said Madara might have stay connected to the Gedo statute around his 40, his body prematurely exhausted by years of battle. But actually I realise now I was wrong. To connect yourself you need a Gedo statue and to summon a Gedo statue you need a pair of rinnegan...🙃 and he obtains them in the verge of death, in his 90 ish...

Madara was free to move anywhere he wants for most of his life, especially after Tobirama's death who is known to be a great sensor. And thanks to white zetsu, he is pretty well aware of all the shinobi geopolitics of the time. He said to Obito that he built some of the underground.

Ok so underground builder might have been one of his hobbies. Sasuke later destroyed the main entrance when he awakened his EMS but the corridors still exist and we don't know how far they travel through the fire country.

And his character is showed many times as a man of action. He can't just stay still. He's constantly looking for or doing something new as shown by Hashirama's reaction below:

So Madara just sitting in his cave and contemplating the coming of his potential Rinnegan seems out of character.

Do you remember when he made fun of Obito spending a life time chasing the 9 bijuu with the help of Akatsuki. But Madara... what is your excuse in 60 years?

If I remember well, when he talked to Hashirama in front of the Uchiha shrine he already knew Kaguya's story (thanks to Zetsu's editing) and already came up with the idea that he needs part of Hashirama's power to recreate the Rinnegan. and also that he needs all bijuus for starting the infinite Tsukuyomi. He captured first Kyuubi and used him to get Hashirama's cells... but then what next? Why didn't he chase the other weaker bijuus just with his Sharingan?

Even if the Rinnegan was delayed, he still was strong enough to chase all the bijuus in his 30s, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's but he didn't. Even in his crippled 90's he was able to control a group of Kiri shinobis, Rin and sealed Sanbi into her.

Some of you could say : but what the point to collect all the bijuus if you can't summon the Gedo statue first? Ok, ok...back to the Rinnegan issue. If I'm correct to awake the Rinnegan not only you need to merge Uchiha and Senju cells but they need to both comes from Indra and Ashura reincarnations. So technically as soon as Hashirama died, his cells are useless. And Ashura won't reincarnate again if the previous Indra's reincarnation is still alive. Sasuke becomes Indra's next avatar only because Madara died just few years before. As if Ashura was waiting for Sasuke's birth to reincarnate few month later into Naruto and continue their never-ending conflict.

You want to know what I think about this mess? I think Kishimoto and his team don't care that much about ensuring consistency in Narutoverse, in the same manner they don't care about proper family tree or timeline. They just wanted an overpowered charismatic villain from a distant past, and didn't pay attention or didn't care that it's doesn't make any sense that someone so powerful and notoriously impatient will be invisible and idle for 60 years.

I realized hashirama likely died turning into a tree after becoming bad at using sage jutsu and why naruto suddenly had a robot arm in boruto instead

He likely hadn't needed to use it for 30 years before his death since the valley of the end fight. Thats plenty of time to become bad at using it and we know what the adverse effects are for toad sage jutsu. And it wouldn't make sense for something like regeneration to somehow just kill him. Why did so many people have access to living cells from him? He didn't fully die. He became a tree like began to happen to danzo when he wasn't able to control hashiramas powers. Just like what happened to the white zetsu when naruto so much as touches them, they instantly become a tree. An elderly hashirama decades out of practice being pushed into a harsh fight could easily cause this to happen to him.

Then as for narutos hashirama cell made arm, why did they have to chop it off and give him a robot arm instead? Well the *real* answer is likely due to borutos author not knowing what happened in naruto, I don't think the dude ever read/watched it even. But a more interesting in universe explanation is linked to madara growing a face on his chest and a hashirama body growing from the ten tails husk when its implanted with his cells. If madara had a face grow from a small piece imagine how narutos fast healing would effect a whole arm of hashirama. The arm could have began to develop a whole new body and need to be removed, this would also explain why its not used for anyone else like Sasuke later in his life, why it wasn't a medical revolution after all. Naruto would have likely regrown his arm in minutes had the nine tails not been completely drained to the point of becoming unconscious, he did this before to regrow an entire lung after Sasuke had ripped it out in their first fight in only seconds. Imagine what this could do when attached to an arm that is still trying to regrow its own body.

continuing the trend of nonsensical narutoposting, i'm going to share my headcanons for how self-reflective and/or emotionally health all of the akatsuki are. 

itachi: this man has no self reflection skills at all. he thinks he is Fine. if you really pressed him, he might admit to having some "slightly" "controlling tendencies". But other people are wrong anyways, so really, he's just being polite. This is a massive understatement, and is only one of the many, many things wrong with him. (“I’m a pacifist :(,” says Itachi, "Violence is wrong,” he says, genjutsu-ing a man into being mentally eaten by crows until he dies, “I wonder how itouto is doing,” he wonders, casually setting a man on fire.)

kisame: above average self-reflection skills. he has correctly deduced that he is depressed and a little paranoid. however he is also resigned to it, because that's the default state for most ninjas, especially ones from Mist. Probably does not realize that some of his issues are giant red berserk buttons.

deidara: mentally stable? ehhh *vague hand gesture*. honest with himself? he knows exactly what he's about. him bitching about his job and coworkers constantly is probably very grating, but emotionally healthy for him. good for him.

sasori: he knows himself well enough that he knew he would prefer to literally embody his art. however, he is great at convincing himself he doesnt have emotions when in fact he does have quite a few.

hidan: somehow, the most emotionally healthy akatsuki member?? he knows what he wants, what he likes, what he's passionate about, etc. other people might wish he was a bit more conflicted about things but thats Their Problem, not his. However this is not  because he’s better at this than anyone else, this is because unlike everyone else in the group, he has no trauma. Trauma is what happens to other people when they meet him. 

kakuzu: on some level, probably realizes he has Issues™. Does not connect his constant frothing rage to these issues. That’s clearly just his default, he's been like that for ages. (no!!!)

pein: so hilariously bad at this whole emotional/self-reflection thing that naruto’s special talk-no-jutsu caused him to die

konan: she knows that she is, on some level, fucked up, but she has buried that under layers of professionalism and murder and also paper. Deals with things better than pein but like. They were both super codependent on each other and i really wish we could’ve seen what she was like after pein’s death. Because i feel like it could’ve been the stepping stone to her being more unhinged in new and interesting ways. However, she was immediately murdered by obito as part of madara’s plot to get new special eyes. fuck you, kishimoto!!!!!

tobi: this man is somehow, even worse than pein. if the naruto universe was interested in things like “higher education” and “things that dont involve new and creative methods of murder”, there would be so many psychology majors dying to study him like a bug. why are you like this, obito. Your tragic backstory about getting crushed in a cave-in and being manipulated taught by your weird grampa and seeing rin die and everything does not adequately explain anything about you. Not only does he have the self-reflection skills of a mushroom, but I don’t think he even knows why he does the things he does in the first place.

zetsu: disqualified due to being a plant/vessel for an evil alien/guy who got chewed up and spat out by said alien. Asking if he’s emotionally healthy is like asking what the color blue smells like. Curious about the very concept in the same way that he is curious about the Experience of Having To Poop.

Surprisingly, Hidan is a way, way better cook than Kakuzu, but neither one of them gives a single solitary shit about food hygiene. That's pretty bad. Hidan is personally mutating a new strain of salmonella in his own blood stream as we speak and it is resistant to not just antibiotics but also to, like, bleach.

Kakuzu's favourite food is "shit that's free," so he can cook but he's not good at it, he doesn't like it, and he's so old fashioned that his idea of spiced food means adding garlic.

Pein's body is dead and it is best that Nagato does not try to add comestibles. This was learnt the hard way.

I love the fanon that Itachi cannot cook for shit. It is cute when highly competent murderers lack basic life skills, in its way. I also like the fanon that he likes sweets. Please, give this boy some candy. Extremely cute, I am adopting the concept into all my fics.

(I think Sakura should be a bad cook too. Just saying. Kakashi is the best cook on their team, followed, bizarrely, by Sasuke.)

Zetsu doesn't need to eat cooked food but he does like to put the big fleshy leaves of pak choi on the grill and watch them shrivel and spit. Hours of entertainment before he consumes his real food, which is raw people.

Konan has a full complement of normal adult skills. She could even call up the energy company and set up a payment plan in a sudden moment of financial uncertainty, if she needed to. She can definitely cook and she will absolutely not cook for you or anyone else.

Kisame's food comes out over-salted a lot, but then, his body is well equipped to rid itself of the excess. Food he cooks is fast, and often bold and bright: chilli, acid, sweet fruit, savoury meat. He likes to stare at an unnerved team mate across a camp fire as the juices spill from between his sharp teeth and drip off his chin. Don't let him get started on the shark womb murder thing. He just likes to watch people get nervous.

Deidara thinks he likes hot chilli more than he does. This is the kind of man who uses two ghost chillies when he probably wants one habanero. He is so smart and he literally never learns. It's infuriating.

Sasori doesn't cook so much as concoct, but when he's not hosing industrial lube in his mouth sometimes he likes to funnel poison in there instead. It usually tastes good—the poisons are often sweet. It's the antidotes that taste universally horrible.

info to note:

- zetsu is still alive. madara has been taken care of though!

- obito knows about zetsu’s plans and the infinite tsukuyomi, but zetsu has yet to make any appearance since he left so there’s no point in chasing that until a clue comes up.

- obito is bad at dying because he has hashirama cells. the kids have seen him chop off a finger while making dinner and grow a new one in minutes. kakashi and rin are not that way. kakashi and rin are very human and far more vulnerable.

so for the first few years, all is well because obkkrin deserve a goddamn BREAK AJSJSKSJDJ.just raising the kids, no big killer missions, just taking enough to keep themselves afloat and then some. it’s really just peaceful and nice and they actually have the time to relish in the break and realize that just. they can have peace in their lifetimes. it does exist for them.

momo unlocks her sharingan first, though. i’ve mentioned a few times that it’s because of a breakdown, because she was already very emotionally/mentally/sensory overwhelmed and overstimulated. it was just a bad day :( rin tells her she needs to come inside, she can’t play in the rain for long or she’ll get a cold, and it Sets Her The Fuck Off. she explodes, yelling about how she hates everyone and she never wants to live here anymore, grabs her stuffed wolf and a peach, and leaves. obkkrin don’t wrangle her back, they let her settle in the emotions, and kakashi finds her about ten minutes later crying at the base of a tree not even two minutes from the edge of their land. he recognizes the sharingan of course, and it literally sends his heart and stomach DROPPING. same with obirin, who are like oh hell. oh she hates us. oh we are The Worst. because something in her obviously emotionally shifted to make her like this, and it was their fault.

momo is fine. they calm her and themselves down, and talk through the sharingan and what she was feeling, and it’s a bit of a mess of a conversation and she’s only six years old so she doesn’t really understand all these abstract concepts of feelings being thrown her way, but they’re back. they’re normal again.

fast forward to age 12 or so, and momo finds out about sakumo’s suicide because kakashi finally feels comfortable enough to just. tell her what happened. and she obviously feels sad for him, but it doesn’t like Haunt Her like it haunts kks obviously, she didn’t even know the guy. bc autism makes it hard for empathy sometimes, yk the deal

anyways! zetsu comes back. momo+mosu are on a mission together, low c-rank mission transfer, and they get separated from their group. zetsu approaches, intending just to make his presence known to obito and to manipulate the kids for his future plans, because obito still has been manipulated by him before and kids are the perfect targets. how does he do this? in the most traumatic way possible of course <3 he puts momo in a genjutsu where kakashi is the one that commits suicide, and she has to find him. this is Obviously traumatic!! and she unlocks the two-tomoe sharingan and breaks herself out of the genjutsu that way.

mosu’s traumatic dream consists of watching kakashi “kill” rin. he has no context to this because of course obkkrin haven’t told them anything about how they got their scars except “i was crushed in a rockslide” and “i was impaled. isobu saved me though!” and scars are just a part of the shinobi experience. so mosu finds out kakashi was the one to hurt rin and nearly kill her and he’s. not furious. but he is very confused and upset. he unlocks his sharingan and breaks free in the same way as mosu.

they both run back home, completely abandoning the mission and even though they Know it was fake the blood is still on their hands and they can’t get rid of the image and they Have To Check. they get home and momo is immediately running to kakashi crying, can’t let go of him, is very clingy. mosu confronts kakashi and rin about what happened in his genjutsu, and of course kakashi can’t lie about that. so mosu finds out. rin has to smooth it over bc kakashi loves to make things his fault even though she did everything. she takes full credit for her actions, tells mosu as such, and there’s no like. child hating parent thing that goes on or whatever.

this does, unfortunately. result in the children playing favorite parents. and they can’t Really help it, they don’t mean to leave obito out, but. obito can care for himself. rin and kakashi cannot.
