The badboy and the nerd. ~High school~ ~They are 17~ 😛

! CHAPTER ONE !

The project.

Dayton, a nerd boy, top of all his class yet loves video games. His social studies class is making everyone do a project with someone else. His partner? Ethan, the badboy of the whole school, the guy everyone swoons over, yet he won't date anyone.

Dayton walks to his social studies class, fixing his glasses. He happens to walk in at the same time Ethan does, which makes everyone gasp and whisper. In their school, whenever two people walk into a classroom together, it means they either just got done kissing, or had just got done with doing it.

Of course, they didn’t. They barely know each other, but to make things worse? When everyone in their class sees that they got partnered together for a project. Dayton takes his bag and sits by Ethan.

“ah, hey, um…you’re Ethan, right?” Dayton asked, his hands clasped together, he was a bit nervous. He’s heard a lot of rumors about Ethan.

Ethan just…nodded. He wasn’t in the mood to talk. And he expected Dayton to do all the work. “what’s your name again, nerd boy?” There was something about the way Ethan had said “nerd boy.” Dayton heard Ethan’s voice, it was a bit husky, slightly deep, yet it sounded…sexy to Dayton. No, no, he shouldn’t think that. It’s inappropriate to do so.

“ah um, i’m Dayton.” He said, looking a bit up at Ethan.

“alright, so, what the hell are we supposed to do for this project?” Ethan asked, running a hand through his hair. His breath exhaled a bit onto Dayton’s face.

“ah, well…it’s supposed to be about a famous event that happened years ago. do you want to helped with the research?” Dayton said, looking at Ethan. Ethan thought about it for a second and then nodded. “sure, i guess i can.” Ethan said, and looked at Dayton’s laptop, his face close to Dayton’s.

Dayton tried hard not to blush, just even a little bit. He stayed still, his fingers fidgeted with each other as Ethan continued to look over his laptop. Dayton looked outside the window a few times then Ethan spoke. "alright, uh, i could get the research stuff for part two of this...damn project and you get the research for part one of this." Ethan said, running a hand through his hair and fixed his jacket. They worked on the project for a few minutes before class ended. Ethan had his things packed already, he looked towards Dayton, who was still typing down stuff even though class had just ended. “You coming or not?” Ethan asked, closing Dayton’s laptop shut without warning. Dayton jumped a bit in surprise. He hadn’t realized class ended, he was too immersed in writing. “Ah, sorry. you didn’t have to wait for me.” Dayton said. packing his things.

Resident emo/badboy duo

I do think that as a teenager he would run away with someone that he thinks that he’s in love with to give them a better life even if he’s mistaken about how hard it is

Like he just seems like that type of guy

Like he would be the “yeah babe your family sucks let’s get out of here and be on our own” type of guy

I also think that he would be sweet to his partners younger sibling like just because he doesn’t get along with his own doesn’t mean that he hates kids or anything.

Also smokers lmao

Just really fits the vibe of Ethan very well

Guy that looks tough and bad boy-ish on the outside to in reality just be sweet and caring

I could also see Seb in the Ethan outfit :)

Sam

Kyle Clauger (Nerdy Prudes Must Die)

While I don’t think Sam is a bully really

I do think that as a teenager he would just go along with what his friends say because he is a sweet boy that just wants to fit in

Doesn’t wanna bully anyone at all just wants to be happy

Is popular but also not the most popular because he’s a golden retriever and isn’t really chasing popularity

Like yeah he wants to fit in but that doesn’t mean he cares about popularity really he just wants to be liked he doesn’t really care if he’s known or not

Kyle is really just a background character and we don’t really see him unless it’s like specific scenes with Max or like the aftermath.

So we don’t really know a lot other than he never really wanted to bully people but wanted to fit in with Max even to the point to where he doesn’t date anyone max tells him he can’t.

I do think that Sam would choose his friends over a significant other unless he actually genuinely loved them so I think he kinda fits this jock that’s not really mean but isn’t really helpful vibe

I would’ve chosen Ethan for Sam but Sam isn’t really a bad boy on the outside if I’m being honest.

Shane

Paul Matthews (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)

Mostly because I think it would be funny if he screamed at the top of his lungs for coffee

Also I think he wouldn’t enjoy watching a musical he hates the fact that everyone in them are either so happy or that they’re singing every five seconds

“PLEASE GOD NO”

Would also be horrified at “What do you want Paul”

I would’ve probably chosen Paul for Harvey because of his love for coffee but I don’t think he would be this unhappy about everything

Imagine trying to get him to sign ANYTHING while he’s walking to Joja he will not

Paul is much nicer than Shane at first glance but at the same time I feel like Shane could embody him well.

Like Shane can be Paul but Paul could never be Shane.

Alex

Max Jägerman (Nerdy Prudes Must Die)

Again I don’t really see him as a bully

But I do think he could’ve been one in high school

Like Sam I think Alex just wants to fit in and be cool (especially because of his life) so as a teenager I could see him being an absolute asshole as a teen

Maybe not to Max’s level but like out of everyone I think he fits Max the most

In the whole star quarterback and liked by the cool pretty girls.

The reason they win their games

Also in the whole no one really understands them

Like I know Max is horrible he’s a LITERAL MONSTER

But like when the main characters try to bully him he literally is like “this is the nicest thing anyone has done for me”

Like yeah he’s a bully and we can see that and they didn’t really flesh out that plot line it seemed like Max didn’t really have people in his life that genuinely cared about him to set anything up for him or do things for him other than be yes men which isn’t really caring at all

I feel like Alex would be similar in that he doesn’t really have friends (Haley doesn’t really count for me because I feel like she’s using him as means to an end. As if she sees him as who she’s supposed to end up with because of their looks instead of actually caring for him)

Only people who either tell him what he wants to hear without truly caring or understanding (except for his grandparents)

Alex too would be happy if someone decided to go through the trouble of making an elaborate prank for him.

Harvey

Becky Barnes(Black Friday)

Him and Maru were the most difficult for me but ultimately I settled on him being Becky

Mostly because he’s a doctor and I’m pretty sure she’s a nurse

But also because I also think Harvey is brave enough to go through an abusive relationship and come out of it still wanting to help the world

Also because I also think he would kill an abusive asshole bc he’s hot like that

I think they would have the same values like everyone matters and just because you have money or a greater status doesn’t mean you can take advantage of people or act like an asshole

I also think it would take an ancient god to make him become a man without morals

Elliott

Professor Hidgens (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)

CAN YOU SEE THIS LIKE I DO

Both are men of the arts and it’s funny

Also writing and music are very similar/ writing a musical is literally just writing a story and adding music to it so when I say it’s similar I mean it’s SIMILAR

I could see Elliott going insane and holding people hostage like “DO YOU WANNA READ MY NEW STORY?? PLEASE READ IT AND GIVE ME FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!!”

I could literally see Elliott taking this role and killing it

Like it’s not a lot to say because I think it’s very obvious

Also they both have that air of like…..pretentiousness?

Not in a bad way at all it just like…..they seem to give off the aura of having money

I think I feel like this because it’s like they have the freedom to write and go into the arts even though Hidgens is a professor I believe

It’s just they give off the air of feeling or being better than you but not in a way that is like their doing maybe

Idk if y’all can understand what I’m trying to say? Like they don’t act like they’re better than you it’s just their vibes

Abigail

Stephanie Lauter(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)

I wanted her to be “Latte Hottie” from TGWDLM(I forgot her name for now ignore it) but she doesn’t really give those vibes when you think about it

I feel like Steph and Abigail are VERY similar

They both seem like in school they’re cool but in different ways but they both have similar vibes

I think Stephanie is more grunge or skater(forgive me I don’t know clothing genres)

And Abby is more gothic but like I think they’re v similar

Like they aren’t in charge but people know them and even if they dislike them no one is fucking with them at all

Also the way their fathers are

I feel like Pierre would be VERY similar to Steph’s father

Like claims they love their child but beat them down with their words

Like imagine if Pierre was running for Mayor or something like

You already know he would be the biggest asshole

Would also fall in love with a person she doesn’t really match with on outer appearance on first look

Haley

Emma Perkins (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)

I think it would be funny to put Haley in this role

Like they’re both bitches but are funny/attractive to the point where it’s fine

And it’s a bitchiness that isn’t from meanness it’s literally just them being blunt

Like there is no lie about what they’re saying it’s just a rude thing to say lmao

Would be annoyed if she was working and was forced to sing for every tip

Would curse and be sarcastic to annoying people without caring and somehow manages to not be fired

Only difference is that I think that Haley wouldn’t half ass ‘Cup of Roasted Coffee’ because I thinks she wants to look good

Would tell Professor Hidgens to fuck off that she doesn’t want to hear about his musical

Emily

Hannah Foster(Black Friday)

I think in my mind(I have not watched Black Friday since the first time I saw it and it’s been a while) that Hannah knew more than the others

Like I remember while watching it that they didn’t take her as serious as they acted more like they listened to her in a “yeah okay grandpa take your meds” kind of way

When in reality she was connected and seeing things that they wouldn’t be able to understand

I think Emily is similar or fits the vibe where she understands things in a different way than the others

And they just see it as her being weird when in reality she’s just connected to the world in a deeper way.

Even though Emily is the older sibling I think she just fits this role where she could feel what is going to happen from the beginning

Leah

Lex Foster(Black Friday)

I know this looks like I ship her and Seb but I don’t

Her moms a bitch, an alcoholic

Jkjk (that’s penny)

BUT!!! I think Leah fits the whole “run away to escape my problems and follow my dreams” sort of thing

Like she literally broke off an engagement(or relationship at least) and left everything behind to move to a town in the middle of nowhere in order to follow her dreams

Literally just wants the best for herself and if she had a sibling I think she would want the best too

I also think she’s a dreamer. Like you don’t run off to become an artist without having big dreams and aspirations.

Penny

Grace Chasity(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)

Argue with a wall I’m right

I see her as like a goody two shoes that puts her beliefs above anything and really wants to make her family proud

Like I could see her being deeply religious

And honestly if Pam wasn’t an alcoholic and her father was still around I think they would be similar to the chastity’s just not as bad

Like obviously holding someone’s books isn’t equivalent to sex or whatever they believe but I do think they would’ve raised her to be a good Christian gal that should wait until marriage

Also because Penny sticks around for her mother and to teach the kids gives me those vibes

Would also go crazy like absolutely bonkers this woman is

Maru

Ruth Fleming(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)

Mostly because I think it’s funny

And because I couldn’t figure out who she would be so she gets to be Ruth

Also I think they’re both socially awkward

Ruth is just an awkward person

And I think that Maru is just socially unaware

Also I think that Maru would be the friend that’s like “can y’all set me up with someone?”

And everyone would be like “lmao no”

Day 23: "Its Tradition" || The Theta Crew - The Ski Trip

Pjs family always went to the mountains for the Winter holiday. It was the same Resort year after year since they moved here. The parents found it and fell in love so they got a membership and now Pj knows it like the back of his hand. The resort was always real fancy and full of stuff to do. Pj used to spend hours doing all the activities it had to offer, he never noticed how his parents would basically disappear until the end refreshed and ready to go. But eventually he got bored, and complained about being alone. He didn't wasnt to go there anymore. "It's tradition." they'd just tell him.

That next year, his entire 6th grade class was invited to go with him. They loved it. There were endless amounts of food to eat. All types of games to play. They even got to ski and snowboard when ever they wanted. Plus the inside pool was heated so they could swim forever. Even the adult chaperones were impressed. No one wanted to leave.

Peej felt alot better with all of them around, though it didn't feel like a break if he was constantly in line for stuff. (How the resort handled it, he'll never know) So the next year he wanted something smaller. Peej had requested only a few tickets for Dan, Phil, and Charlie. They were the closest thing they had to home so he wanted them around as much as possible. That year was perfect.

Everyone else was of course disappointed. Some parents tried to find the resort to go themselves but it was exclusive, open to members only. And the money needed to buy a membership wasn't worth it. They talked with his parents and they explained that it was up to their son as they just needed playmates for him. No one could return without Pj it seemed. The next year, all of the Brits were going to England so he had extra tickets again. To everyone, they were golden tickets. He had alot of friends suddenly. Alot of people asking about his winter break. Alot of people telling about theirs. Sometimes he felt surrounded, wanting to shoo everyone away, but not having the courage to. He didnt know how to be mean.

In one of the classes, was a little girl who knew. She was never the nicest but she tried. She would say antyhing on her mind and no one could get in her way. It rubbed alot of kids the wrong way. She didnt have alot of friends which is probanly why she didnt speak anymore. He hadn't heard her talk all year. At the end of gym class, he went over to Shawna as she was flipping off someone and gave her an envelope. They stared at each other for a minute and Peej smirked then walked away.

In the lunchroom, he saw a little boy, he always had the biggest smile, and the biggest black hair. Him and Pj had a deal to trade chips. He'd get the British ones and hand over the American one. When Michael brought over his tray, Pj handed him the bag and an envelope. "I want you to come with me. I need my supply of chips." He said with a smile. Micheal nodded, smile as big as ever. "Its a deal."

Pj had his companions for the trip settled. People tried not to be jealous but everyone could tell something was different between them when they returned. There was an unspoken bond, but none would say a word about it. All they would talk about is the activities and food and how fancy it was. Shawna was even talking again. The weird thing was they continued on like before. Different friends groups, different classes, different circles, only speaking every now and then. If people didn't understand Peej then, they definitely wouldn't now.

The next year was high school. The gossip about the trip kept going around, talking a life of his own. There were upperclassmen mixed in with the people surrounding him now. They googled the resort and wanted in. Some wanted tickets as a sign of friendship between them. (Dan and Phil wouldn't stop being his friend over it but they were shocked they weren't invited) Most wanted the ticket to sell for money or favors.(Charlie wanted it to get back his new microscope that was stolen from him. Pj got it back and Charlie was happy to forfeit his place) Others wanted it to just gloat. (His relationship with Liz was rocky for a few weeks after that.)

He kept his same crew that year. That meant saying no to Shawna asking for extras or giving her own away. Micheal only wanted to bring his best friend Shane, and Peej rejected that too. It's weird how no one fought him about that, well Pj is weird so he didnt think twice.

His sophmore year, Michael moved away. He insisted the ticket go to Shane but Pj didn't take requests. Instead the was a brash boy who was always in detention across the hall from him and Shawna. He never failed to make them laugh or do something stupid. Pj bet him a ticket that he couldnt slide down the entire hall in one go. After a shitton of soap and two practice runs, Matt joined them on the trip. It surprised no one that they werent good influences on each other. The school branded them menaces after they got back, they were back to running in different circles but somehow found each other when mischief was needed. That kind of changed what the the trip seemed to be.

The hype of the ski trip simmered down. It was a myth at this point. Teens came and went, some believing some not. And Peej didn't seem like a snob. He was "mysterious and artsy and a badboy" though he never felt like it. He was just a nerd with a camera, some snarky words, a flirty disposition, and an addiction to pranks.

He tried to open up more. Connect with more people. Be social. He even found the cutest boyfriend in the world. It was good until November. Ethan asked for a ticket, having a list of people he wanted there and a list of people he didnt want there. Other people Peej got close to joked about the tickets but he could see the hint of seriousness. The Brit brushed it off. He intended to keep his same crew because at this point.... Its tradition. Nothing was going to change his mind.

Except for a new guy. He had gotten lost his entire first day. The boy was the happiest person Pj had ever met. The boy brought cookies to his first meeting to the "photography club"(It was a fake club Matt made on a dare. Peej and Shawna kept it going.) a few week later. Him and Peej had spoken maybe 30 words to each other in the past months but Pj was attached. One day in the hall he saw Thomas and invited him. Said he had a week research it, think about it, and decide.

Nobody could believe that happened. Despite that, they tried to convince him not to go. That it was for the bad kids. And they'd corrupt him. And shouldnt he be suspicious why Peej asked someone he didn't know. Ethan stopped talking to Pj but eventually forgave him when they planned a getaway of their own.

The day before school ended Thomas came up to Peej with a smile and a nod. Pj smirked and handed over the envelope. "Good. See you at New Year's." No one though Thomas could smile any brighter than the day he returned.

summary: it started as a concept of badboy!Ethan being super soft for his girl and telling her he loves her and stuff! (anon requested) and then it just ran away from me a little bit...

Ok, so, Ethan would be a bad boy mainly for the aesthetic? Like he'd absolutely look the part: leather jacket, ripped jeans, boots and sunglasses. And he'd be just as hot as intimidating, of course, the epitome of "tall dark and handsome" with the darkest scowl you can imagine.

He's also be the one who approaches you, you would never go up and talk to him. Not because you're a wallflower or something, you just don't see any reason to push your presence onto people who seem to have absolutely no interest in holding a conversation. Or eye contact. Or any sort of interaction with another human being.

So yeah, he surprises you when he starts talking to you. First in the shortest sentences you have ever heard, but gradually they get longer and longer until it's almost a conversation. And even from that short exchange you can tell there's actually a lot going on behind those dark eyes, even though he tries to hide it behind black tinted sunglasses.

Ethan has an actual "onion-personality": whenever you peel off one layer, there's another right under and it's a lot of work to get to know him and it takes time and it's frustrating and with every layer he lets you uncover, he grows more and more fascinating.

He likes watching you get dressed in the morning, calls it "putting on your battle armour" which is hilarious because even though you might not see going out and interacting with the world as a "battle", Ethan does. Likewise, you like watching him get undressed, the more layers he's wearing the better. You have developed a thing for the leather jacket and helmet he wears when he rides his bike and you're pretty sure, you didn't used to have a thing for those before Ethan.

Going out with him usually is a whole adventure. It always stars sweet, because he will play with your fingers or hair and not look at you when he asks if you'd like to go eat out tonight. On the ride to the restaurant Ethan will drive not necessarily slowly but very safe, never reckless -- he never is when you're sitting behind him. And you will have your arms slung around his middle, leaning against him and soaking in his bodyheat and the rough feeling of your thighs being pressed to the outside of his hips. Ethan will drive safe and secure, almost stoically if it weren't for the fact that he will always, always take one hand off the handlebar and cover yours where they meet around his middle, whenever there's a red light he has to stop at.

The restaurant itself is where thing will get tense usually. Ethan usually stares the poor waiter or waitress down until they stop asking questions and his order is usually no more than three words pressed out between grit teeth. He won't ever say "please" or "thank you". Ever. Sometimes he will even scowl at people watching them (because he's a tall guy dressed in a leather jacket and heavy boots, being rude to people trying to do their jobs). And everytime you want to scold him, you want to ask him to at least let you talk and stop looking at everyone and everything like he's considering how to kill them most efficiently.

But that's the moment Ethan will stretch out his legs and tangle his feet with yours, whether there's a tablecloth to cover it up or not. And usually your heart then melts until you forget what you'd even wanted to say.

Ethan will glare at the waiter or waitress whenever they interrupt your conversation, even if they're just silently refilling your drinks. Without fault, his voice will turn velvety soft again when he picks up the conversation again. You're so used to that by now, that you're not even wondering about it anymore.

He does stuff like this all the time. He could be telling someone to fuck off and then take your hand, kiss it and offer to get ice cream. Once he had his arm around your shoulders and you were walking down the street, your hand buried in the back pocket of his jeans, and there was some guy smoking and whistling as you went by.

(honestly, he could've been whistling at you or at Ethan, it's not really clear whom the guy was whistling at)

And Ethan had just halted and turned to him, his arm still around you, and his other hand grabbing the guy's wrist hard. The guy had been too surprised to do anything but gape when Ethan threatened to put his own cigarette out on his face if he ever did that again -- trembling the guy had dropped his cigarette from the hand still in Ethan's grip and nodded quickly. And Ethan had let go of him and turned to brush his lips over your temple, pressing a row of butterfly-kisses around your ear and mumbling about how he loved how you always smelled flowery.

The first time he says he loves you, there has never even been a discussion about what you are. You've just started sleeping over at his place a few months ago and Ethan bought a second helmet for his bike just for you and you never felt it was necessary to ask about it. You know he's not seeing anyone else and even though he never said anything about it, you know Ethan assumes neither are you.

So it doesn't feel like a big deal when you find a leather jacket that's kind of similar to his but fits you perfectly. He watches you when you enter his place that evening and his eyes don't widen or narrow, he just sort of watches you with that open, unguarded expression he only wears when he's alone with you. It sends that familiar warmth tingling through your stomach and you meet his gaze, waiting for him to say whatever's on his mind.

He just sits on the couch, legs resting on the table, red sweater thrown carelessly over the backrest behind him, looking at you. There's a beat of silence during which you notice the way his black t-shirt has ridden up and is revealing the delicious curve of his arm. The dark tresses of floppy hair falling almost into his eyes have your fingers itching to run through it and feel the silky locks wrap around them.

Then Ethan says in that familiar soft, dark voice: "I love you."

And maybe it should elicit a bigger reaction from you, a gasp, a rush of happiness or even a flash of fear, but it doesn't. All you feel is warmth and tenderness, so much tenderness for the softest man you've ever met, who invited you to fight your way through the mile-high walls of pure steel he's built around himself and has no problem letting people crash and break before. He let you in, let you explore all the edges, sore spots and scars he's been hiding, trusting you not to hurt him, and you cannot imagine a more intimate gift from a person as private as Ethan.

"You like it?", you ask and twirl around for him to see the leather jacket in ist entirety. "It made me think of you."

There's a silent smile playing on his lips as he watches you. "I'ts perfect. I like it. It makes me wanna fuck you against my bike."

This time you do gasp and you try to look scandalized but it doesn't really work, not with the tingling warmth still rushing through you. "The things you say sometimes...so romantic."

Ethan huffs out a laugh and watches you come closer, spreading his legs for you to stand between them as he looks up at you standing over him.

"I'm plenty romantic."

You can't help the soft smile, even as you feel his hands dance over your thighs and hips, anything but romantically. "Yeah. You actually are."

"Ok, shut up now, let's go get my bike", Ethan grumbles and just picks you up as he stands up. You protest and hit him where you can reach his back, laughing helplessly and your mind filled with one thought only: I love you, too.
