Big Mistake

Summary: While dueling Malistare for the final time, the Necromancer targets Malorn with a spell instead of Alex, despite him not being in the dueling circle. This set Alex off and awoke something inside the Sorcerer.

Warnings: death

When Malistares spell shot past me, I smirked in cockiness. “Have I finally tired out the great Malistare Drake?” I asked, toying with the man, but realization soon hit when I saw the smirk on his face and heard the gasp behind me. Turning around, I saw a death shield appear infront of Malorn just in time for the spell to make contact. The Teenage Professor was sent flying back into the wall, the shield only offering minimal protection.

When I saw Malorn look up weakly, something inside me broke. Rage coursed through my body as I dropped my wand and turned to look at Malistare. The man was smiling cruelly at me as he went to draw another sigil in the air. “When I’m done with the two of you, then I will destroy that desert world you call home.” He cackled wickedly. “No!” I growled at him, pulling my Athame from my bag and throwing it at him. He dodged out of the way, watching in horror as the blade impaled into the stone wall behind him.

“You can attack me, that’s fine. You can attack Ravenwood, there will always be someone to stop you. You can attack Krokotopia, there are hundreds of spells in place to stop you. But Malorn is off limits. I growled as magic flowed through my hands.

Malistare stood, twirling his staff as the Death sigil appeared before him, before turning to ash. “What!?” He roared, anger and shock plain on his face. My hands moved through the air, a Life sigil and Death sigil appeared, before they were surrounded by the red Balance sigil. Malistare stared at me, face frozen in shock, gripping his staff like it would save him.

The three sigil exploded in light, the particles swirling into the form of a large woman. She looked like the usual Seraphs summoned by sorcerers, but in one hand she held a scythe, and the other held a scroll. “Your time is up Malistare.” I growled, walking towards Lady Fate. “I came here, fully intend on letting you leave. But you lost the right to mercy when you threatened my heart and my home.”

I stared into his eyes, the fear in them bringing me a form of sick pleasure. Lady Fate raised her Scythe and book, stabbing the blade into the open pages, which sent out a shock wave or magical energy. I watched the life drain from Malistares face, his life energy transferring into Malorn as the last breath left his body and he crumpled to the ground.

Lady Fate nodded to me before she evaporated into red energy. I turned to Malorn, looking into his wide eyes. “Are you okay?” I asked stepping towards him, picking my staff up on the way. When I got to him, he put one hand on mine, another on my neck. “I love you too.” He whispered, pulling me into a kiss.

I kissed back, sliding my hand into his hair, weaving my fingers into it. “I won’t let anyone hurt you. Ever.” I whispered as we separated. All he did was nod, breathlessly.
