Panda Express Beyond Meat orange chicken is everywhere in my social media feeds this week so I felt the need to get some for dinner so I can be in the know too. 😉 I’ve never had orange chicken or eaten at Panda Express so this was new to me. Inside Panda Express was quite nice & much different than what I imagined. I thought the Beyond Meat orange chicken, chow mein & veggie spring roll were tasty but a bit too oily for my liking. The all of these things, along with the white/brown rices, super greens & sauces are vegan 🥡🥢

This is kinda a rant, so if you wanna read it, go ahead!

I really gotta start writing some food companies.

Basically I started out vegan then went vegetarian because I couldn’t eat healthy enough as a vegan. However, it wasn’t as difficult to stop eating meat as I thought (I used to love hamburgers and bacon), and especially after I had been so much stricter as a vegan obviously.

I had so many different foods that I loved and it was great discovering more and learning what was gross as plantbased and what wasn’t. I had favorite products like the MorningStar breakfast brand (the Facebook vegan life group hated anyone who ate that because it was “unhealthy”. That’s not the point! It’s vegan!).

Anyway, I also had other things I loved. I used to eat corn dogs all the time growing up (I only stopped eating meat in 2019), but there weren’t really a lot of options for plantbased until MorningStar made one. Guess what though? I can’t eat that anymore.

Why? Because I found out I have celiacs. So now there’s making sure it’s plantbased and gluten-free. It’s fine, but kinda sad because a lot of the stuff I ate before has gluten in it.

SO. I have been finding things I love again, gradually. If they’re not super healthy then that’s fine. I just make sure to incorporate other things with it.

You know the brand Dino Buddies? The dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets? Well they have a plantbased version with gluten. Then they have a gluten-free version with meat. I’m really hoping they come out with a plantbased gluten-free one.

Lightlife hot dogs are incredible. I ate them before I stopped eating gluten, then stopped, but THEN ONE DAY I decided to look at the packaging in the store randomly, probably from being sad, and they don’t have gluten anymore! But wait, for some reason the jumbo dogs have gluten, but not the regular. Kinda weird to me, but I’m not complaining.

I love Beyond-Meat products (used to love Impossible as well, but some of those have gluten). My weird health nut cousin (don’t get me started) got all weird when I told her I loved them. I know they have stuff in them, but that’s not the point! Ugh, people take the joy out of things.

I do have some staples that I get a lot, and I’m grateful for that, but it’s sad when they discontinue them. I got these vegan breakfast sausages (trust me they are amazing) for a couple years and now they’re just gone from Sprouts. I have looked online and can’t seem to find them anywhere, though I don’t think they’ve discontinued them. I also got this microwave pad thai from a specific brand, and that’s gone. I’m so sad.

Sooo I think I’m gonna write some companies and let them know I want their product if they could maybe make a gluten-free version, and not just plantbased. Because I’ll tell you, it feels like you hit the jackpot when you find something you can eat!

You’ll have to be more specific I’m afraid, there are controversies over just about every vegan product, some with good reason but most without. Beyond Meat has had a fair few, being too processed, being served with cheese at their expo events, questions about environmental footprint etc.
