Seeing that Doctor Who is premiering on Disney tomorrow, I wanted to post this.
Here is the back cover of The Blue Guardian #13 an adult Doctor Who het fanzine published in 1982 by The Prydonian Renegades an American fan club based out of Columbus, Ohio. It's fanart inspired by "Doctor Who and Mickey Mouse Go to Gor" a story from issue #12.
The cover feels like an obvious send up of Tom Baker's appearance in Disney Time.

Blue Exorcist Chapter 145: Notes
In this chapter, the exorcists are preparing to enter Satan's maze to either bind or destroy his heart. (honestly binding it is the only way to go, or Assiah is done. Lightning should know better!)
The kids might have had a good night's sleep but the Enpeira is weakening, and eventually, Satan's dark magic will destroy them. The adult exorcists and Mephisto spent the night on strategy and they came up with an elaborate plan, with Lightning taking the lead.
Tumblr media
Mephisto makes a model to show the entire chess board to his players. But he's not doing well, his body is weakening at an advanced rate, worse than all the others. But is he dying? Or is his power being used elsewhere and he's playing possum? I have ideas...we know he has some sort of agreement with Shura that we don't know about. Shura is nowhere to be seen in this entire chapter, not even in the background drawings. Weird.
Tumblr media
Just to note, like the powers of Nemu Takara, Mephisto uses toys as his conjuring of choice. This is like this version of Legoland.
Tumblr media
We also have this exorcist that looks a bit like Iblis, but I'm sure Mephisto would know if his sister was amongst them in disguise. Most demon kings have human family thanks to the section 13 experiments, maybe this woman is a descendent? The one next to her looks a bit like a clone Samael too.
Tumblr media
As the exorcists are sectioned off into different teams, Yukio offers to help Rin scale the blue flames wall. Yukio admits that both he and Rin are immune to blue flames. Once Lightning hears this, he completely geeks out. Because of course, Lightning is interested in all things regarding human/demon relationships, possessions, clones and demon-eaters. Pretty much all ways that humans and demons can coexist and share powers. And humans like Yukio have never happened.
Tumblr media
In other side narratives.
Shiemi still thinks she's going to die and refuses to tell Rin that she loves him. Kamiki is on her team, and won't give up on her.
Tumblr media
Between Kamiki and Amaimon I think Shiemi is in good hands with two fierce guardians. If she lives she promises to ask Rin on a date. I think Shiemi has made the right choice, distractions right now, will not lead them to victory.
Tumblr media
And yes, it's the end of the world but teenagers will be teenagers. And young love is such a distraction.
Yukio notices Rin thinking deeply by himself. Yukio, being a deep thinker himself is worried that his brother is still having deep concerns about Satan and the complex relationship between his demon and human sides. But nah, Rin's thinking about girls.
Tumblr media
Plus Rin's crush, is coincidentally also Yukio's crush which annoys Yukio when he mentions his "love issues" And once again the boys are competing with each other. These two are fucking exhausting, will they actually work together climbing the wall, who knows. At least it will be entertaining. Part of me hopes Amaimon breaks the love triangle. Then maybe the boys will get along.
As they prepare to leave for the mission they lock the refrigerators behind them, preventing anything from coming and returning to True Cross. This is probably why Angel is separated from this group in the future. He lives because he isn't there.
Let's hope the future we were shown was wrong and they are able to change it this time around.
Tumblr media
And technically, Lightning secretly doesn't want Angel to come back to the front and become a vessel for Lucifer. Sealing Angel away is the best thing for him, it keeps him safe. Even though Lighting isn't an emotional guy, i think after years of working with Angel, he does consider him his friend.
Tumblr media
And as our brave team departs for battle, after a badass war cry, they ride out on.....bouncy horses.
It may be the end, but least Mephisto still has a sense of humour.

"He turned completely blue and was lifeless. At that point I just completely blacked out," a mother recalled after her 11-week-old son had breathing issues
A mother is forever thankful to a Taco Bell manager in Richboro, Penn., after she helped save her baby's life.
On April 13, Natasha Long stopped by the fast food joint in Bucks County for some food after running some errands with her 11-week-old son Myles when he began struggling to breathe.
"I ran out of the car and ran around and opened the car door," Long said of the terrifying incident, per ABC affiliate WPVI. "I pulled him out and he turned completely blue and was lifeless. At that point I just completely blacked out. I didn't know what to do."
It was then that Taco Bell manager Becky Arbaugh immediately jumped into action to help after hearing Long's cries for help.
"I threw my headset. I ran outside," Arbaugh recalled. "I took the baby and I started to do chest compressions on the baby and then he finally started to breathe."
Arbaugh — who Long said was her guardian angel — explained how one of her two daughters suffered a similar experience years ago, so she knew to stay calm.
"When my kids were little, my daughter had a similar incident, so I knew what she was feeling," the manager said. "I knew if I kept her calm and I stayed calm, there was no thought in my mind that the baby wasn't going to breathe again."
Related: Inside a Bride's Las Vegas Taco Bell Cantina Wedding: 'We Were Just Envisioning a Fun, Memorable Day' (Exclusive)
Myles finally started breathing again, but it's still unknown what caused him to struggle to breathe. He was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for treatment.
"We couldn't be more grateful to Becky," Long, who has been in regular contact with Arbaugh since the incident, told the outlet, adding: "She saved my son's life."
"I just thought of myself as a mom with another mom that needed help," Arbaugh insisted.
Taco Bell didn't immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for comment.

Vandalize My Heart
Tumblr media
Sonic knew that he shouldn't be feeling like this. They were rivals most of the time, but that didn't mean that they weren't friends when the occasion called for it. It was just their dynamic and he was fine with it. This was how things always were. So, why was he feeling like someone stabbed him in the chest when Shadow accepted that proposal?

Titus Eras
(( this is mainly for thread and plotting purposes, I want to make it easier to interact with Titus throughout his life, ykno? Since I really don’t have one specific version of him in my head all the time. So I figured I’d just lay out all the options, along with each individual eras Playlist linked in the titles! ))
Titus has changed quite a bit throughout his life, certain aspects of his personality ebbing and flowing in how major or minor to how he interacts with the world around him.
Overgrown
Tumblr media
(Ages ??-12)
Titus’ childhood, forever colored with golden sunlight, evergreen trees, vast and light blue skies against the mountain range, and later the blood of what he thought were his enemies staining his skin.
It’s human Titus living on the commune, with The Sons, with his father, hidden away from the rest of society within the sprawling mountains of Colorado.
He’s a kind and curious kid, if a bit sheltered and lonely. That rebellious spirit is alive in him however, often sending him past the boundaries of “What is Safe” set by his guardians. He believes in what his people tell him, being far more trusting here than he will be later.
(Or, if it’s a bit later in this era, it’s newly-fae Titus attempting to guide his people as The Overgrowth, tearing through people who happen to come near like a wood chipper through a misplaced hand, fueled by grief and eldritch fury after the murder of his father)
(Re)Integrate
Tumblr media
(Ages 13-16)
Titus’ teenage years, brought to the outside world through his defeat as The Overgrowth, separated from his Brothers by people who truly only want what is best for him.
One of these people is his foster father, Gregor Daniels, who he lives with in the small mountain town of Pironbury.
He’s really embracing the rebellious side of himself now, fueled by anger, fear, and frustration both at what had already happened in his past that he couldn’t change and at what was happening now in the present that he couldn’t control.
His identity issues come forward more, as does his fear of trusting and abandonment issues, but there’s less of a fear aspect as there will be later on. This version of Titus believes that the problems facing him are innumerable, but he can get through it with viciousness and grit. Deep down though, he’s still a good kid. It’s a coming of age.
Runaway
Tumblr media
(Ages 17-23)
The version of Titus I’ve talked the most on!
After a particularly horrible realization involving The Sons finding Titus in Pironbury, Titus abandons, taking a beat up car (which he later replaces with his van) and hitting the road, constantly on the run from his former Brothers.
Paranoia, guardedness, overwhelming fear and anxiety, pressure, constant movement, and just the crushing isolation of a life without roots are deeply ingrained factors for this period. Titus has learned that Fight doesn’t help him, so Flight kicks in.
But there’s some things that stick with him, even getting strengthened in his mind as this time goes on. Helping others is a big thing for him, as he starts to see more of the world for what it is. Partly, he does it to atone for his actions in his youth. The other part knows he would want help too, knows he’s desperate for it, even if he typically refuses it out of reawakened over-politeness.
Curiousity stays too, sending him on countless adventures as he tries to escape the endless pursuit of The Sons. He meets people, even sometimes chooses to let himself stop and talk to them, but he never allows himself to make friends. He remembers what he did to the last few before he left Pironbury.
He’ll always leave without a real goodbye.
Restart
Tumblr media
(Ages 24-early/mid 30’s)
This is Titus when he has learned that Flight only works for so long. He was too tired, and the past just kept coming back.
Technically, Macrides coming back from death and Titus becoming The Overgrowth happen before this era. This period starts when Titus wakes up in a house in Missouri, The Overgrowth is asleep once more, and he cuts all of his hair off.
Love, growth, change, and reflection are all big factors for this period.
The early portion period allows Titus to be a semi-normal 20-something year old dude. He’s still on the road (his friends have a true crime/paranormal podcast they do on-site research for) but he feels a little more stable and free than he did. It’s a process, but he’s learning to be comfortable again.
He’s still very anxious, maybe still a bit paranoid and cagey with details at times, but he tries hard to trust and be more open. He’s seen enough now to know that there are enough good people out there to balance the bad. It’s just about deciding what he wants to be in that equation.
He wants to be better. He wants to change.
But, the past will keep coming back. This time, in a way he’s not quite ready for; the rest of Titus’ archfae ancestors, Macrides’ family, call him to his duties in the Fae Realm as The King of The High Desert.
The Deserts of the Fae Realm are a strange place, whether High or Low. His family, in the High Deserts, live a lifestyle somewhere near royalty in a fantasy novel, while the people of the Low Desert looked more… apocalyptic. And yet, both groups had a strong similarity to something straight out of a spaghetti western.
(This later part would be a bit harder to plot with just because it’s in the fae realm, but Macrides fell into an oasis and ended up in the Mortal Realm we can figure it out if we want to write Silly and/or Terrifying Fae Realm Adventures)

What's the vibe? #37
Tumblr media
News:
Rishi Sunak has decided to push back on the UK's net zero commitments. What does it mean for us?
Side read: What Rishi Sunak’s net zero overhaul means for UK emissions (FT)
Net Zero: "Put simply, net zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) that's produced and the amount that's removed from the atmosphere. It can be achieved through a combination of emission reduction and emission removal." -National Grid
Probably the most relevant policy change to a young person is the end of the sale of diesel and petrol cars from 2030 to 2035. I guess this helps the car makers but we also must think about clean air, and resources (oil) still needed to be used.
I wasn't certain before but between this, HS2 not being fully developed for the whole country and abolishing inheritance tax, we might see the end of the 13 year Tory party rule in 10 Downing Street. It's just not going well with Tory donors who have been with the party for years. It's very obvious now that climate change is a topic that is seen as unavoidable across party lines so pushing back targets is really unpopular.
Young people ditching ambitions over UK cost of living crisis, research finds - The Guardian
"Two-thirds of the 18- to 24-year-olds who were questioned for the research have lowered their career expectations, with the cost of living, the state of the UK economy and their own mental health named as the biggest factors.
The research, based on interviews with 2,500 young people, was carried out for the Prince’s Trust with the LadBible Group, with a consumer youth panel consisting of over 55,000 Gen Zs, born between 1997 and 2012, and millennials, born between 1981 and 1996."
How can we inspire young people in this country to see optimistically? How can we create places where we get together and do healthy (maybe non alcohol related) activities? Where they can focus if they want to, lose themselves in something artistic if they want to or just be spiritually replenished by environments they choose to be in.

China's Gen Z Is Trying to Leisure-Shop Way Out of Jobless Blues (Bloomberg)
"Recent college graduate Yang Zhifeng, 22, became discouraged and decided not to hunt for a full-time job after seeing hundreds of applicants applying for just one white-collar position. Despite her newly inked degree, she settled for work as a part-time receptionist at a Shanghai hostel catering to job seekers, for only 1,000 yuan ($137) a month.
Regardless, Yang said she still allocates money to visit local tourism spots, attend comic conventions and try hot new restaurants with her friends.
“When the job market is that bad, why are we struggling and giving ourselves a hard time?” she said. “This is a good time to rethink what lifestyle fits us better and makes us happier.”

so i just finished watching guardian - the lonely and great god, and i have to say, never thought any drama would match our beloved summer, but here we are.
Tumblr media
WHAT could be better than gong yoo and lee dong wook fighting with telekinesis?
i. one issue i noticed a lot of people had when i read the reviews — the age gap. yes, i completely agree, it was weird to see a thirty-something man fall in love with a girl who kept acting like a 13 y/o, but at the same time, it's mentioned quite clearly that she's 19/20. it's hardly ever a problem that is faced by people who ship vampires and humans (cough delena stelena cough).
ii. mild solace for those who were severely creeped out tho — in the last few episodes, there's a time jump of 9 years, and they get properly married. (eun-tak without kim shin was totally geet in manali era)
iii. gong yoo's acting? chef's kiss. but that's to be expected of a great actor. watching guardian prompted me to watch his slap scene in squid games again, so good. when he smiled, i felt wiggly inside.
iv. nothing nothing nothing will ever beat the bromance of grim reaper and goblin. their telekenisis knife fights? shin immediately taking out a sword when reaper offers a hug? banging the table to throw salt and pepper around? chaotic man children and i loved them.
v. sue me, but i loved the second lead couple as much as the main couple. i didn't love them very extravagantly, mainly because i was constantly annoyed with sunny's attitude initially, but that grew to be so awesome. loved her for making the healthy choice when she left, broke my heart for yeo, but loved her still.
vi. a separate point for deok hwa in his almighty era you go bitch he looked so hot in that bar scene
anyway, that was it for this one, im watching legend of the blue sea, boys over flowers, tale of the nine tailed right now. whichever i finish first, I'll be sure to post! recommend some other ones you like, and I'll share my watchlist as well

AskSavel follows the journey of Savel, a ghost of the Ghastly line that began her life as a mysterious burst of blue light. Through her journey thus far, she has gathered a few friends, those drawn to her light, and one who is a direct counterpart to it. Together, they are on a journey to find the ones known as the Incarnates.
There was always something to be said about the mysteries left untold in the mortal world. This blog will flow through the world, on a journey to the ends of the Earth, and back again.

SCP Biblical First Family
Got bored so gonna post up some ideas I have for biblical first family in the SCP. I intend to add these as SCPs later but gotta write them so that will take time Anyway…
*Adam had three wives, Lilith the first, Eve the third.
* The wives nor the children speak of the second. They will not speak her name, they will not describe her. They will at most acknowledge her as the second wife or simply as her. They aren’t sure if she is alive or dead.
* Lilith didn’t want to have children, though called their mother she never actually gave birth to any of the kids.
*Adam insisted that his children all consider his three wives as their mothers equally.
* The children in order of birth Qayin (Cain) and his twin sister Luluwa (Lulu), Hevel (Able), Awan (Ava), Atzurah (Azura), Set (Seth.)
* Neither Cain nor Able are aware their other siblings have survived to the modern days. Seth is aware that two of his sisters are alive but never speaks to about them to the Foundation so they won’t be contained. He sees no need as they bring no attention to themselves and are no real threat.
* Lulu has some serious issues against Lilith. She adored Lilith like her real mother but as the oldest she remembers when Lilith left not only their father but her. To make things worse, she knows her father essentially named her after Lilith. Luluwa just being a derivation of Lilith.
* Eve did eat fruit from tree of wisdom and the tree of eternal life. Now she has knowledge she shouldn’t reasonably know and simply can’t die. She has mostly spent her time trying to protect humanity from anomalous even before she got involved with the foundation.
* Eve is not a fan of traveling over water. If you were drowning for 40 days over and over again you wouldn’t be a fan either.
* No member of the family will ever willing face the Gate Guardian. The picture would give many nightmares. Coincidentally if anyone plays SCP-2137  near them it will begin to speak Sumerian and has caused Eve to have a panic attack.
* Ava is one if not the first magic users,  she’s continued to practice and honed her skills over the centuries. A lot of modern thaumaturgy is based on her discoveries and teachings.
* Ava looked up to her brother Cain, seeing him as someone she could relate to someone she could connect intellectually with. It broke her heart when she heard about what happened with Able.
* Ava still loves her father but she fears him. She knows what he became and has actually worked on a spell that might be able to stop him. She is not eager to test it.
* They all miss Azura, one day when they were children she went missing. No one found a body or found out what happened. Even centuries later it haunts them, they never got closure.
* Lulu knows the origin of Cain’s arms.
*Azura has dark blue eyes, to the point of having them look purple, she says the same thing as Elizabeth Taylor. She has black and white hair, she claims its Marie Antoinette  syndrome thing. No one is sure if she knows what that is.
*Azura has a close relationship to the Wondertainments. She calls Isabel Izzy and Reginald Reggie, and sometimes by his real name. Isabel calls her Wow. Their relationship complicated. Azura did pick the name Isabel.
* Ava in the modern era has actually earned multiple doctorates, thought she will admit the history ones are kind of cheat since she lived through history.
* Lulu is a charming and playful young woman. It would be possible to confuse this with some anomalous ability, but she just someone who knows how people work and what to say to get the right reactions.
*Eve takes special measures to try and protect anomalous children. But in the end she is only one vote of 13.
*Eve actually checks in on SCP-53 regularly, as her anomaly doesn’t affect her being a reality anchor. The council knows this and allow it as they would rather have 53 forming a bond with Eve instead of being solely influence by 682.
* Lulu knew Thomas Edison and  Helena Blavatsky and together were involved with his spirit phone invention.
* Ava looks down on the Serpent Hand. While she understands their good intentions she believes that world finding out about the anomalous would be disastrous. She also avoids the library, as she’d rather craft spells on her own and just wants to avoid alternate universe stuff.
* Azura actually ends up meeting up with her grandma fairly regularly.
*Eve has fallen in love a number of times. She's married, men and women, and occasionally raised families. It hurts her when they die. She remembers each and every one.
*Eve and Lord Blackwood were a thing, neither getting too serious because they had their own responsibilities and lives to live. Though if they ever stop to talk about it, they would consider slowing down even for a bit.
*Adam might have more children.

5, 9, 13, 15, 24, & 25 for the muse meme <3
Tumblr media
5. which of your muses needs / wants a hug the most?
i want to say all of them like fsdhg there's a lot to unpack but i'll go with... sungjae, the resilient dream chaser who has faced rejection one too many times. not that he has it the worst but poor guy could really use a hug to lift his spirits rn. oh and hoo being the one who wants a hug just because...
9. which of your muses tends to be the group “mom friend”?
khao fits the bill perfectly for this one! ironic since he's the one muse with mommy issues sfhgs but he's a caring soul who can't help but nag and worry about everyone's well-being. isla is also a close runner-up in the mom friend department, she's always ready to protect and nurture her people.
13. which of your muses would you consider to be the best cook?
one might assume it's isla aka the master of pastries but.... ansel takes the crown here. being the oldest and guardian to his younger siblings, he had to learn to be independent including cooking for himself and his family so he's a whiz in the kitchen @_@ might not have a michelin star but he loves experimenting with food just as much as he loves creating art.
15. do any of your muses have trouble falling asleep / staying asleep?
blue is the champion of sleepless nights! insomnia is his sidekick, stealing all the sheep from their mental pasture. on the other hand, sora is the lightest sleeper ever. she'd jolt awake at the gentlest whisper or a sneeze five blocks away
24. which of your muses would be most likely to survive a zombie apocalypse?
in the face of an apocalypse, taksoo brings the physicality and mental fortitude to survive, while abel brings the brains that will always keep him one step ahead of danger. (fun fact no one asked for: when i first created taksoo he was meant to be in a post-apocalypse verse so this is perfect fsdjs)
25. which of your muses has / would have the silliest ringtone? what would it be?
i like to think daeul fell victim to a prank by one of his pain-in-the-ass clients (his words not mine) who believes he lacks a sense of humor. they sneakily changed his ringtone to this and the best part is... daeul is slightly tech-incompetent so he can't figure out how to change it back ;_; his phone continues to ring with that tone to this day, much to his bewilderment

Our heroes:  Find a well-connected Influencer.
What important things did we learn about:
Callen:  Wonders about parenting advice.   Sam:  Was told he had no controle so speak his truth and set a good example while being a parent. Kensi:  Wonders why some boys aren’t raised to be decent to women. Deeks:  Would do anything to protect their child. Fatima:  Semi-recognized by a paparazzi.   Rountree: Vacation. Kilbride:  Understands Bitcoin.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen:  Given a late intro to Aliyah. Sam:  Not happy he’s lost his parking spot. Kensi:  See Callen. Deeks:  Influencer Party Marty.   Fatima:  Likes to drive. Rountree:  Absent. Kilbride:  Parking in Sam’s spot.
Where in the world is Henrietta Lange?  Not a mention.
Who's down with OTP:  Kensi and Deeks work out some parenting issues – kids with cell phones, expectations of male and female children – while working on the case.
Who's down with BrOTP:  Callen and Sam are in fine form in this episode, joking about Sam’s car and speaking seriously about Sam’s mother.
Fashion review:  Dark red and dark blue plaid button down shirt for Callen.  Red long-sleeve tee for Sam.  Black henley for Kensi.  Blue-grey long-sleeve tee for Deeks.  Fatima bravely wears a denim jacket with matching jeans – it works for her.  The jacket is over a black turtleneck.  Dark three-piece suit, white shirt and
Music:  “Ladies” by RoRo plays in the teaser.  “Won’t Be Misunderstood” by Huxley Ware, Ships plays when Kensi and Deeks are talking to Angel.
Any notable cut scene: Not today.
Quote:  Deeks:  “I can't stop thinking about what I would do to protect our daughter.” Kensi:  “Right?” Deeks:  “I mean, I was barely holding it together when you were in Mexico.” Kensi:  “Well, if we have a kid, lucky enough to have one, they may not end up in a dangerous line of work.” Deeks:  “Okay, but what if she does?” Kensi:  “Then we would do the same thing we would do with a kid regardless of their gender.” Deeks:  “All right, so, support her unconditionally. Teach her jujitsu, tactical training, maybe some sayoc.” Kensi:  “Oh, geez.” Deeks:  “What? I mean, look at Gia. Even if we raise a strong, confident, independent woman with an amazing skill set, she could still end up in danger.” Kensi:  “I get it now. Why people pledge to do right by their daughters. I just wonder why we don't put that much thought into how we raise our sons.”
Honorable mention:  Callen:  “What's the best piece of advice you ever got on parenting?” Sam:  “You have no real control. The best you can do is speak your truth, and set an example.” Callen:  “That's good. I bet whoever told you that was a pretty good parent.” Sam:  “She was the best, G. The best.”
Anything else:  A young woman is in an area with some balloon arches and street art.  With her phone, she’s recording herself posing around the balloons.  When she finishes, the young woman walks up to her scooter. Seeing a passerby, she asks if he will take her picture and to make sure the logos for her helmet and scooter are in the photo.  The passerby complies, taking several photos with the woman’s phone.
Looking at the photos, the woman is unhappy with how she looks wearing the helmet.  Leaving the balloon arches behind, the young woman starts scootering down the street, talking to her “fam” on the phone.  As she continues to promote the scooter to the “fam”, she runs into a homeless man’s shopping cart.  This isn’t an accident.  She’s knocked out as she falls into the cart.  As the man walks away, he has tarps to cover what’s in the cart.  The scooter is left on the street abandoned.
A very unhappy Sam is with Callen outside of the office.  The Admiral’s classic pick-up truck is now parked where Sam usually leaves his car.  Sam realizes he’s never getting that spot back.   The Hellcat is now parked under some birds which is messing with Sam’s weekly detailing of the vehicle.  Callen asks Sam to just tell Kilbride he wants the spot back.  Sam insults the Admiral’s parking skills instead.
In his little locker off the bullpen, Sam is looking for his shampoo.  Callen hates to break it to Sam but Sam isn’t in the mood for bald jokes.  The shampoo is for his car.  As Sam is about to clean his car, Fatima arrives.  They have a case.
The young woman kidnapped that morning is Gia Michelle – “yes, the Gia Michelle,” Fatima tells Callen and Sam.  Callen and Sam are unfamiliar with Gia’s oeuvre.   Gia’s “Giaography’ feed has 15-million followers on Instagram, 40-million followers on TikTok.  And none of them are Callen and Sam.  Fatima envies Callen and Sam having other things on their brain than Gia.
Gia is a “mega-influncer”.  A dancer turned influncer, she posts regularly on her social media accounts but was dormant in the last day.  The concern is that Gia has been kidnapped so the team is being asked to investigate.  Callen is skeptical – why is NCIS on this case.  The Admiral arrives with his own opinions on social media and the empowerment of the selfie but NCIS is involved because Gia’s mother is Linda Burke, the US Ambassador to Lebanon.  With the State Department’s security services spread thin in Los Angeles, the Secretary of State asked SECNAV for help.  Foul play needs to be searched.
Showing Gia’s last video, Sam hears her crash in to the shopping cart.  Fatima notes that Gia didn’t even post a video to say she wasn’t hurt.  Her content is “pretty tidy” according to Fatima.  With Gia’s cellphone turned off, they can’t track her.  Kensi and Deeks are on their way to Gia’s house in Beverly Hills.  That stops Callen – how much does someone like Gia make?  Sam starts to chuckle.  Fatima explains big money but the Admiral reminds Callen and Sam that there is no price on pride.  Leaving Ops, Sam asks if Callen if his pride pays his rent.  It doesn’t, Callen replies, but Callen is pretty sure Sam paid for the boat using his pride.
Kensi and Deeks walk up Gia Michelle’s house.  It is a nice mansion in Beverly Hills with a pricy sports car (red) and SUV (black) in the driveway.  Deeks can’t believe Gia made all this money doing dance videos.  Kensi explains that Gia is a multi-hyphenate with acting roles, a beauty brand.  She sells flat tummy tea which Deeks thinks sounds worse than a flat-earther.  It is, Kensi tells him – the tea gives the drinker diarrhea.
Dancing himself, Deeks thinks he could be an influencer as Party Marty.  Kensi doesn’t see a big audience for a white surfer dude who can’t do The Floss but he could find some thirst-traps.  Looking at the Ferrari in Gia’s driveway, Deeks has some thirst.
A man pulls up in a bright green sportscar, asking if Kensi and Deeks are from “the agency”.  They are, just not the one the driver thinks.  Joey, the driver complete with his name on his uniform shirt, takes care of vehicles and was driving the green one around the block.  Gia just lets them sit and that’s not a good thing for the cars.  Asked if he knows where Gia is, he doesn’t.  He hasn’t seen her in a while.  Gia is not big on direct eye contact.
Deeks asks if Gia owns all the cars.  She does not own any of them.  In fact, she doesn’t have a drivers license.  The cars are props, Gia takes some pictures with them and puts it on social media.  If she doesn’t have a license, Kensi asks how does Gia get around.  Gia has a driver – Alan.  Deeks asks about Alan but Joey is worried that he’s in violation of his NDA.  Giving Joey his card, Deeks says as a lawyer and an investigator, Joey isn’t going to get in trouble.  Even if he wasn’t supposed to be driving the cars.  Deeks goes with quid pro quo.
In Ops, Fatima is looking through Gia’s social media accounts when the Admiral arrives.  Pushing through to ask for help, with Rountree on vacation and Gia being a prolific social media presence, she needs “another pair of eyes” according to the Admiral.  Aliyah walks into Ops.  Fatima has all the help she needs.
Offering a sitrep, Fatima tells Aliyah that Kensi and Deeks are bringing Gia’s driving to the boatshed.  Aliyah looks at all the social media content on the big screen and thinks it takes a lot of time to do all that posting.  Fatima’s tablet beeps – Gia’s phone is back online.  On the big screen, a crying Gia looks roughed up.  Talking to her “fam”, she’s asking, and this is not a joke, she has to raise $10 million in Bitcoin or she’ll be killed.  “Please help me.”
Where Gia was grabbed, Callen and Sam are watching Gia’s hostage video.  Callen wants to know how can they be sure it is not a hoax.  Fatima tells him he’s not the first to think that – Fatima does not have an answer.  She is trying to trace the feed.  Sam heard Aliyah is there and Aliyah introduces herself to Callen (who missed the last episode).  He’s happy to have her onboard.
Whoever put the video online knows what they are doing – it is being put through several programs to make tracing who has Gia impossible.  Callen noted that Gia used the word “they” when talking about who kidnapped her.  Sam says Gia could have been warned not to give up identifying clues.  Callen and Sam are going to look for witnesses and surveillance cameras.
Gia’s driver Alan is exhausted when he walks into interrogation with Kensi and Deeks.  He’s looking for some coffee, which he’ll get after he answers some questions.  Questions like how long has Alan worked for Gia.  The answer “two or three years” has Deeks asking about the 365 day different in the answers.  Alan was Gia’s bodyguard for a few years before switching to being her fulltime driver.  Kensi asks why Gia would need a bodyguard.  Gia was involved in an internet beef with another influencer.  The other influencer wasn’t the problem, it was the influencer’s fans that caused problems.  “If she wears the wrong color lipstick, they tell her to die and go to hell.”
Asked about their relationship, Alan said he and Gia get along like “pancakes and syrup”.  Kensi shows Alan his arrested record, which includes some domestic violence charges.  Alan explains his ex-wife has mental health issues.  Asking who they are supposed to believe, a yawning Alan tells Kensi and Deeks they should go with their gut.  Kensi wants to know why Alan is so tired – where was he last night?  He was driving for the carshare aps.  Gia had to ride her scooter all day as part of the paid promotion.  When he dropped her off in Hollywood, he was done for the day.  Gia’s other bodyguard would have picked up at the end of the day but she gave him the night off.
Bring up the “celebrities are just like us” photos of stars eating fast food or getting coffee, Alan explains that sometimes even celebrities just want to be normal.  “Even people like Gia.”  Asked if he knew anyone with the skills and means to kidnap Gia, Alan does not but he’d like some coffee.  Deeks points out that Alan doesn’t seem to like Gia.  Alan tells Deeks that Gia would set her own dog on fire for followers.  And no, he won’t be donating to the $10-million save Gia fund.
Callen tells Sam there is $150,000 in bitcoin to save Gia.  He isn’t sure if Gia is in trouble or just troubled.  Sam is worried about social media.  It is hard to find your North Star when everyone is just photoshopping theirs in.  Callen says that Aiden and Kam turned out alright but Sam thinks that’s only because they didn’t care about social media (don’t run down your parenting skills, Sam).  Then again, there was no Arab Spring without social media.  Callen wonders what Ambassador Burke thinks of the hostage note.  If this is a hoax, that could damage the Ambassador’s career.  As a father, Sam wouldn’t worry about his career, just his family.  Callen asks what was the best parenting advice he ever got.  Sam answers that he was told he had no real control but speak his truth and set a good example.  Liking that statement, Callen says it likely came from a very good parent.  “The best,” Sam tells him with a smile.
Walking back into the office, Kensi and Deeks are discussing giving a kid a phone.  Deeks can’t see any reason for it.  No social media, no internet trolls and no porn, which Deeks only knows is on the internet because other people have told him it is.  Kensi talks about their possible 13-year old not being part of a class text chain because they don’t have a phone.  Deeks thinks that’s a good thing.  Kensi talks about their child needing their help – it would be better if they could call for a ride home than drive home drunk.  Deeks snarks about phone first, then potty training.  Kensi is serious – they can’t pretend the digital world does not exist.  Deeks jokes about shoving Playboys under the mattress but an arriving Fatima notes home many trees have been saved now that porn is online.  “So I’ve heard,” she adds quickly.
Fatima has an update – digital people are nasty.  She’s put together a list of the trolls Gia has including the ones she blocked.  “People are nasty,” she notes.  Kensi and Deeks are going to put some names to the trolls.
In Ops, Aliyah explains to the Admiral about the way the kidnappers will get the Bitcoin.  Right now it is untraceable.  The Admiral can’t believe anything is untraceable to NCIS but right now it is.  Reviewing Gia’s accounts, she has an ongoing feud going with another influencer, an Angels Soars aka Sharon Cunningham.  Cunningham believes Gia stole content from her and that contact got Gia a lucrative endorsement deal.  Aliyah also tells the Admiral that Cunningham uses they/them as their pronouns.  The Admiral understands pronouns but wants to know how bad things are between Gia and Cunningham.  It hasn’t gotten violent but it is still going on.
Aliyah’s tablet beeps – there is an alternate account raising money to pay Gia’s kidnappers to kill her.  Both accounts – the one to save Gia and the one to kill her – are nearing $1 million with the one to save her just a few thousand dollars ahead.  The Admiral asks what kind of person would contribute to the account to kill Gia and asks non-rhetorically.  Aliyah explains it is an incel account and then explains what incels are to the Admiral.  He is familiar with the term and is disgusted.  “Smoke these cowards out of their digital cave.”
Yet another tablet beep – Fatima found a Jaxon King, one of Gia’s more prolific trolls.  He was fired from five jobs in the last year.  With a current address, Callen and Sam are on their way to King’s home.
The Admiral assigns Kensi and Deeks to follow Gia’s timeline in reverse – interview everyone Gia interacted with over the last day or so.  Fatima found a new photograph of Gia taken by the paparazzi on the day she was kidnapped – the outfits matched.  “Start searching the gutters for the paparazzi,” the Admiral suggests.  He also wants them to speak to Angel Soars/Sharon Cunningham.  Kensi is introduced to Aliyah and is grateful for all the work she did while Kensi was being rescued.
At King’s house, Callen and Sam find “a big pile of pizza grease.”  The place is a disaster.  Callen finds a laptop, that’s locked.  Sam calls Aliyah to get the laptop unlocked and to start a Kaleidoscope search for King’s car.  Jaxon King does not have a car.
Fatima interviews the paparazzi who is stalking an “A-lister who is pretending she’s not pregnant.”  The photographer tells Fatima she looks familiar and Fatima quickly moves away from that.  Asked if he regularly follows Gia, he doesn’t.  Gia’s people contact him with a place and a time so he can shoot away.  “Gia knows how to play the game.”  The photographer is sure he knows Fatima.  Fatima is sure he doesn’t.  When the photographer agrees to show Fatima the photos he took of Gia the prior day, “for a price”, that price is Fatima getting the boot removed from the his car.
Updating the Ambassador, the Admiral hopes to have good news soon.  Aliyah is combing through King’s laptop remotely when King returns home.  He races out of the house with Callen and Sam chasing behind.  The chase doesn’t take long.  As King tries to get back on his bike to ride away, he’s hit by a car.
In interrogation, King makes it clear, he doesn’t have Gia.   Callen reads some of King’s social media posts about Gia, posts that go back four years.  King doesn’t care – all he’s done is trolled her, nothing more.  She has thousands of haters.  Callen asked why did King run.  King said he walked into his house with two strangers inside, he thought was going to be robbed.  Sam asks King if he’s sure there is nothing more to his trolling of Gia.  King says there is nothing.
In their gym studio, Angel Sores/Sharon Cunningham is livestreaming their workout when Kensi and Deeks arrive.  Sores won’t hurry up the end of their workout for Kensi and Deeks.  When they’re done, Kensi and Deeks ask Soars about their relationship with Gia.  They asks if someone like Soars are kidnapped, would NCIS be looking for them.  Kensi assures Soars that the Feds would.  Soars won’t talk to anyone until consulting a lawyer – then they will speak to Kensi and Deeks.  Kensi explains it doesn’t go that way.
Deeks tells Soars it is in their best interest to cooperate but Soars walks away.  When Kensi and Deeks try to follow, a foolish bodyguard puts his hands on Kensi to stop her.  Deeks asks Kensi if she needs some help.  She assures him she’s got it.  And she does, making quick work of Soars’s security.  Soars films Kensi’s work and is impressed.  So impressed, they want to post it.  Kensi tells Soars to talk to Kensi’s lawyer first.   Soars becomes cooperative.
While there are some drug purchases and a lot of legal porn on King’s laptop, there isn’t much about Gia.  There are connections to incel communities and there is one poster – “The Last Gentleman” – who not only frequents all the communities, he’s pushing for the kidnapping of celebrities like Gia Michelle.  Aliyah is trying to track him down.
Callen and Sam ask King to spill about The Last Gentleman and they’ll skip over the drug transactions on his laptop.  King says he doesn’t know The Last Gentleman, just admires him.  The Last Gentleman has been rejected and dumped by a number of women.  Callen and Sam are not impressed.  Sam asks King if he knows was a real man does when a woman rejects him.  King is all ears.  “Absolutely nothing.  He moves on.”  King notes that Callen and Sam probably haven’t had the same dating woes he and his friends share – that’s why the incels have their communities to chat.
Saying The Last Gentleman is not his friend, Callen wants King to share his name.  King doesn’t know the real name.  Sam makes it clear that King is an accessory – they can use all the chats the two shared as evidence.  King spills – Curtis Jenkins.  Callen runs out of the room to give Aliyah the name while Sam stays with King.  King says he never thought any of this mattered.  Not the trolling, not his own voice.
Aliyah finds Curtis Jenkins, who more than fits the profile.  With the paparazzi photos, Aliyah found Jenkins in one of the shots – he was following her.  Aliyah is sending his home address to Kensi and Deeks.
At the Jenkins residence, Kensi and Deeks find his mom.  She didn’t know he was not in the house until she checked and found his van gone.  Kensi and Deeks asks if they can check his room.  Since Curtis lives in the guest house, Mrs. Jenkins has to let him in.
Opening the guest house, she admits she’s not allowed in without permission.  She’ll have to vacuum their footprints off the rug.  The guesthouse is immaculate.  Deeks asks if her son is out a lot during the day.  Mrs. Jenkins says he’s going on interview and doing freelance work.  “Your average semi-launched 20-something.”  She tries to give her son his space – it keeps the peace.  Curtis gets prickly sometimes.  Kensi finds a note to Mrs. Jenkins in his son’s handwriting.  Mrs. Jenkins falls apart reading the note – Curtis has Gia and the note was his goodbye.
While Kensi is talking to Mrs. Jenkins, Deeks finishes with Aliyah.  The counter-campaign has far more money than the campaign to save her.  Kensi asks Mrs. Jenkins if her son has any friends they can interview.  Curtis didn’t have friends.  After the death of his father, Curtis spent all his time online.  Curtis and his father were close.  They use to go to the family beach house all the time.  Kensi and Deeks know where Curtis is keeping Gia.
Callen, Sam and Fatima are all racing their way to the beach house.  Fatima is the closet.  Fatima is the closest.  The Admiral realizes the easiest way to stop all this is to take Curtis off the internet.  At the beach house, Fatima shuts off the power.  Curtis starts to freak out – there is no power and the cell service is bad.  Gia mocks Curtis – he’s not going to make it to the grand finale.  Curtis tells her people are paying a lot of money to see her die, he plans on giving them their money’s worth.
Running outside for better cell service, Curtis runs right into Callen, who has his weapon drawn.  Curtis races back into the house to find Sam standing there and Gia gone.  Curtis is surrounded by Callen and Sam.  Curtis threatens to kill himself and hopes Gia thinks about him every day.  Sam brings up Curtis's dad, who died hoping he did right by his son.  Curtis drops the gun and Callen takes him down.  Fatima has Gia in her car – she’s safe but not alright.
Walking back into the office, Kensi feels sorry for Mrs. Curtis.  Deeks’s sympathy is more with the Ambassador.  Deeks talks about how he was barely holding it together when Kensi was lost in Mexico, he couldn’t fathom being the Ambassador today.  Kensi talks about them being lucky enough to be parents, they’ll teach their child to protect themselves.  Deeks comes up with a list of training to keep their child safe.  Gia was a strong, confident woman and look what happened to her.  Kensi understands why people pledge to do right by their daughters.  She just wonders why people don’t put that kind of thought into how they raise their sons.
Fatima is back in Ops, much to Aliyah’s surprise – she figured Fatima would have returned home.  Fatima likes to drive – it clears her head.  Also clearing her head is making sure everything is just as it should be in Ops before going home.  Aliyah goes to leave.  Fatima tells Aliyah she fits right in with the team.  Aliyah offers to buy Fatima a drink.  Fatima would prefer a coffee.  Aliyah will make hers an Irish Coffee and the two are off.
On the near back dock in the boatshed, Callen and Sam wonder how long Gia will be offline.  The Admiral arrives with the Ambassador’s sincere thanks.   As he is leaving, the Admiral tells Sam his detailer is on his way to Sam’s place to clean up the Hellcat.  He thanks Sam for letting him use the parking spot.  Sam admits it isn’t technically his spot.  The Admiral says if that’s true, he’s claiming it as his own.  Callen just laughs.
What head canon can be formed from here:  While I think we’ve gotten some of Sam’s father’s history before meeting him and I think we’ll get a lot of it going forward (Richard Gant is a great hire), I’d like to know more about Sam’s mom, especially if his father spent time away from the family with the Marines.
Again with the Kensi and Deeks parenting swaps, City mouse Deeks seems to be the one more likely to want their kid to have a phone than let’s go camping Kensi.   Also, wouldn’t the woman whose Marine father taught her how to shoot, how to track, how to do all sorts of things be more interested in teaching their child how to defend themselves?  The conversation at the end, however, was great.
The paparazzi guy semi-recognizing Fatima was not revisited.  That was a lost opportunity
Episode number:  Episode nine of season 13, episode 289 overall.

Avatar Films Have Always Been A Gross Reimagining Of Colonialism
Tumblr media
After 13 years, the sequel to Avatar(2009) has finally arrived. The original science fiction epic, written and directed by James Cameron, broke multiple box office records in its theatrical run and became the highest-grossing film of all time for a decade. Many will remember accompanying their families to sold-out theatres mere days before Christmas for a film that employed the use of groundbreaking technology which would change the art of filmmaking forever. However, Avatar (and its sequel Avatar: The Way Of The Water), is in fact a problematic analogy of indigenous oppression.
To recap, Avatar follows disabled ex-marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he learns the ways of the Omaticaya clan of the Na’vi people in an avatar body that looks and functions just like theirs. Along with their culture, he falls in love with one of the Na’vi, a fierce warrior named Neytiri (From Scratch’s Zoe Saldana), and switches sides against the humans, subsequently leading the Omaticaya people in their war against Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) and the Resources Development Association (RDA).
Many will remember the blue alien species facing adversity, but not many will remember (or have even noticed) that the central conflict in Avatar is an allegory for colonialism. An ignorant, aggressive, money-hungry corporation supported by military enforcement wishes to destroy the sacred homeland of indigenous communities in order to obtain valuable resources — sounds a little familiar to me. In fact, James Cameron has admitted that Avatar is based on the colonisation of Native Americans. In court documents from a 2015 plagiarism case where visual effects artist Gerald Morawski claims Cameron stole the idea from him, Cameron produced a sworn declaration detailing how he came up with the idea for the film. “Avatar is a science fiction retelling of the history of North and South America in the early colonial period,” read the statement. “Avatar very pointedly made reference to the colonial period in the Americas, with all its conflict and bloodshed between the military aggressors from Europe and the indigenous peoples. Europe equals Earth. The native Americans are the Na’vi. It’s not meant to be subtle.”
Indeed, Quaritch and the RDA are very obvious symbols of colonial whiteness; they even use a slew of derogatory, colonial verbiage, referring to the Na’vi as “savages” on multiple occasions. Sadly, this focal conflict follows into the sequel, with previously deceased Colonel Quaritch returning as the story’s villain via an avatar body that had all his memories stored in the event of his death. This time, he has one mission: getting revenge on Jake Sully. Colonel Quaritch is now even more bloodthirsty and dangerous, eager to destroy Jake and his new family, and he is willing to go as far as becoming the very beings he hates the most in order to exact vengeance. With the RDA and their weapons backing him, Quaritch lays waste to several Na’vi communities, burning down their homes and killing them in cold blood.
“The truth is, reimagining colonial violence and the suffering of indigenous people through the eyes of an alien species isn’t the epic story Cameron thinks it is.”
Indigenous people have taken issue with the themes in Avatar for years, but it’s only now with the increasing visibility of social media that there is a wider platform for them to share their opinions and continue a discourse about the problematic nature of this story. Now that indigenous people are being heard, some are calling for a boycott of the film’s highly anticipated sequel.
Much of the recent criticisms got louder following the resurfacing of a 2010 article by the Guardian that details the involvement of Cameron and Avatar’s Sigourney Weaver and Joel Moore in the Brazilian Xingu peoples’ campaign against the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project. Acknowledging that the Avatar had created “a bit of a spotlight on [them] right now to raise awareness in certain key areas”, Cameron expressed his desire to make a 3D “experiential” documentary on the Xingu’s battle.
After watching indigenous ceremonies and meetings Cameron made extremely disparaging comments about the Lakota. “I felt like I was 130 years back in time watching what the Lakota Sioux might have been saying at a point when they were being pushed and they were being killed and they were being asked to displace and they were being given some form of compensation,” said Cameron. “This was a driving force for me in the writing of Avatar – I couldn't help but think that if [the Lakota Sioux] had had a time-window and they could see the future… and they could see their kids committing suicide at the highest suicide rates in the nation… because they were hopeless and they were a dead-end society – which is what is happening now – they would have fought a lot harder.”
Cameron has since addressed the subsequent accusations of racism in a UNILAD article, noting that he wanted to “listen and to be sensitive to issues that people have.” However, Cameron has not apologised directly to the Lakota people for his degrading comments.
Simply acknowledging people's feelings as “valid” is not enough. The truth is, reimagining colonial violence and the suffering of indigenous people through the eyes of an alien species isn’t the epic story Cameron thinks it is. It’s an appropriative and tasteless virtue-signalling of a traumatic issue that still affects millions of native people today.
Despite Cameron claiming that he wishes to move away from the white saviour trope, the backstory of Avatar’s central white character says otherwise. By positioning Jake as the Na’vi’s saviour, the film’s “fuck white people” metanarrative conveniently disavows whiteness as inherently bad. Even in Avatar: The Way of Water, despite bringing even more death and destruction to the beautiful land of the indigenous Metkayina tribe who provide a safe haven for his family, Jake pretty much remains the hero of the story.
This representation of Jake as one of the “good” whites implores people to view whiteness as an institution and a system, rather than individuals who can be complicit in a system of violence and oppression. In doing this, Cameron suggests that sometimes, whiteness can save us. It feels like some weird colonial wet dream that appoints certain well-meaning white people as the saviours of native people in the perpetual struggle against other white people. Both Avatar films’ metanarratives are framed as counter-hegemonic, but they ultimately end up reproducing hegemony by positioning white people as heroes — thus supporting and legitimising white supremacy.
The franchise props up whiteness as something special and unique that enrichens and sets you apart from everyone else. In Avatar: The Way of Water, Jake and Neytiri’s kids are seen as outcasts, similar to Jake, because they were born with five fingers like humans instead of four like other indigenous Na’vi. Because of this, they are teased by other Na’vi. However, throughout the course of the film, the Sully kids are revealed to have special abilities; Kiri (Weaver) the daughter of the late Grace Augustine’s (also Weaver) avatar body, has a particularly special connection with Ewya, the Na’vi’s omniscient deity. It’s interesting that in both films, the characters that are connected to whiteness (apart from the RDA) are treated as different and special among the indigenous communities they make a home in.
Ultimately, colonialism is a real-life monster that has and continues to affect indigenous people globally for generations. Though the story of Avatar is fictional; its themes aren’t, and it’s imperative that we think critically about the on-screen representation of certain issues and groups because the media largely informs our understanding of the subjects depicted. It also informs our application of these issues — from individual to collective praxis. It’s even more important when you consider the global visibility of this film.
James Cameron most likely thought that this film would implore pro-colonialists and Western imperials to think about their empire’s history differently. But if he really wanted to fight for the rights of indigenous people, he could have directly provided aid, reparations, or any kind of tangible support to these communities instead of producing a multi-billion dollar franchise that emblematizes their trauma. His net worth is literally $700 million. But do the people whose struggle inspired filmmakers like Cameron and line his millionaire pockets see even a cent of those profits? No. Of course not.
It’s true: Western colonialism begets a debt that cannot ever be repaid. But white Westerners, at the very least, can make a start — and putting a spin on indigenous trauma for profit isn’t it.

Back Story: Po’s young age is a result of Naa-Naa struggling to keep Po’s DNA stable. They had to ask Noo-Noo for help. (Naa-Naa hates interacting with Noo-Noo) His help came in the form of a pinch of his creations DNA, which ended up in Po and Tinky Winky being soul connected. She vaguely was aware of the soul connection, Po simply didn’t know who it was or where they are. By the time she was brought to the dome, which was early because Po was developing faster than the other test subjects, she was so obsessed that she wouldn’t even care if the person was mean.
Luckily it was good boy Tinky. Po despised being separated from Tinky for too long, she would scream and cry if she decided ten seconds was too long. She wanted to copy everything Tinky did, not understanding that a 3 year old couldn’t do everything a 10 year old could.
A few years later, Po could handle a few hours separation.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes: Tinky Winky, her scooter, flowers, rolling in mud and dirt, eating bugs, swinging or climbing trees with ropes.
Dislikes: Dresses, being bathed.
Extra: Po was born biologically male and was purposely created without the fear gene so she literally can’t feel fear. She uses she/her pronouns but doesn’t want to be called a girl. Po’s ego issues are due to Tinky holding up this child like ‘Look how smart and cute she is’.

Jeff Buckley: Grace: Legacy Edition
Author: Bram Teitelman
Date: Sept. 18, 2004
JEFF BUCKLEY Grace: Legacy Edition REISSUE PRODUCERS: Steve Berkowitz, Mary Guibert, Jerry Rappaport ORIGINAL PRODUCER: Andy Wallace Columbia C3K 92881 RELEASE DATE: Aug. 24
If any album deserves a 10th-anniversary reissue treatment, it's Jeff Buckley's "Grace." Along with Nirvana's "Nevermind," it set the tone for much of the '90s. Anchored by Buckley's incredibly expressive voice and guitar playing, the album spanned the rock, folk and blues genres and influenced countless bands. Buckley's plaintive vocals and yearning lyrics were given additional emotional resonance upon his drowning in 1997, making "Grace" his only proper full-length album. In addition to a remastered edition of the album, the Legacy Edition contains a bonus disc of live and previously unreleased material. While the highlight is "new" original track "Forget Her," it is fun to hear Buckley tackle songs by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Hank Williams and MC5 as well. Also included is a third disc, which includes a DVD of the making of this landmark album, and five music videos.

Jeff Buckley: Grace Legacy Edition
Author: Jimmy Leslie
Date: Aug. 2005
Jeff Buckley was the guitar player's singer/songwriter, and Grace was his masterwork. Jimmy Page called it, "the best thing I've heard all year" in 1994, and it stands as one of the decade's most influential albums. Underneath Buckley's soaring vocals and romantic songwriting was a beautiful bed of Telecaster tones drenched in delicious Fender reverb. Unfortunately, Grace was the only studio album Buckley--the prodigal son of cult favorite Tim Buckley--fully realized before his tragic drowning death in 1997. The Legacy Edition of Grace sparkles in the light of a modern mastering job, and is accompanied by a disc of Grace-era rarities and a DVD. The most notable previously unreleased audio track is the fabled version of "Forget Her," recorded during the Grace sessions and featuring a rare overdriven guitar solo with string bends wrenched straight from the gut. Buckley brandishes authentic electric and acoustic slide blues chops on Hank Williams' "Lost Highway" and Bukka White's "Parchman Farm Blues" respectively, while the reworked "Eternal Life" and a cover of the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams" rock as hard as anything from the grunge era. The DVD contains an insightful "Making of Grace" segment, as well as five videos. Columbia.

Friday Review: Jeff Buckley Grace: Legacy Edition (Columbia/Legacy) 3/5 pounds 18.99
Date: Aug. 6, 2004
When Columbia's Legacy bods get the bit between their teeth, there's no stopping them, and this multimedia mega-pack edition of Jeff Buckley's shimmering epic, Grace, gives you both an additional CD of unreleased material and rarities, and a DVD with promo videos and an expanded version of the documentary, The Making of Grace. Buckley's disastrously early death rocketed him to a kind of instant canonisation, and there's so much Buckleyana on the market that it's easy to overlook the fact that Grace was the only full-length album released in his lifetime. So, since we already have the massive Legacy release Live At Sin-E, The Grace EPs, Live At L'Olympia etc, is this 10th anniversary disc mere overkill? Well, it gets away with it by virtue of the quality of the second CD, which packs in 13 tracks of mostly excellent quality. Must-hear moments include the mesmerising Forget Her (almost included on Grace but bumped in favour of So Real), the billowing soul-gospel of I Want Someone Badly, Buckley's disarming readings of Dylan's Mama, You Been on My Mind and Hank Williams's Lost Highway, and the nu-metal premonition of the "road version" of Eternal Life. But surely it wasn't necessary to get George Marino to remaster the original Grace album.
