Busselton Jetty is a jetty located in Busselton, Western Australia. It is the longest timber-piled jetty (pier) in the Southern Hemisphere at 1,841 meters (6,040 ft) long. The jetty is managed by a not-for-profit community organization, Busselton Jetty Inc.
The jetty features a rail line along its length, a relic of the railway line into Busselton from Bunbury. The line now carries tourists along the jetty to an underwater observatory, one of only six natural aquariums in the world.
We rode the train out on the jetty to the underwater observatory and it was excellent. There are a lot of volunteers working in this area and they were absolutely lovely. The staff were extremely passionate about the marine life under the jetty and assisted with any questions people had. We saw amazing fish, live reefs and dolphins on the way out! The experience was unforgettable and highly recommended.

We just got back from a weekend away with my partner’s parents!
We stayed in Dunsborough and went to check out the Busselton jetty on the way home. The aquarium/observatory was really neat!
Their dog Cassie is super lovely but unfortunately isn’t great with other dogs, so we had a dog sitter stay over to look after Halley.
Sounds like Halley had a great time with the sitter, but I felt so guilty going to the dog beaches without her! Gonna have to take her on some fantastic adventures next weekend!

Australia 2023
21st- 22nd January
We’ve now moved from Fremantle down the coast toward Margaret River and staying for 2 nights in Busselton. On the way we stopped off at Bunbury to visit the dolphin centre and a small wildlife park where we saw a wallaby with a joey and arrived in Busselton in time for a swim and watch an amazing sunset near the pier. Temperature gauge in the car briefly touched 40c!

Today drove along the coast to Bunker Bay and then worked our way back to Busselton. Bunker Bay was an idyllic place spoilt only by sand flies which are really annoying! Did some decent snorkelling in amazing conditions but not much sign of fish unfortunately! We then drove back to Dunsborough, another busy little place with a nice beach. Another quick swim and then continued back to Busselton where we had booked a 4:00 pm train along the jetty (it’s a mile long!) at the end of which is a 9 m deep observation facility to view the fish and coral. This was really interesting and managed a few photos.
