"Didn't I tell you to stop killing these poor butlers, father? How do you expect us to be taken care of if you take your rage out on our servents?" The young Assassin grumbled while putting her hands on her hips. Suddenly, the whole estate went silent. However, the rest of the lower butlers blinked and gulped in hope.

At the edge of the room, the young assassin can be seen. Her long H/C hair that shined under the moonlight can put any woman to shame. Her E/C eyes that they inherited from her father were sharp yet adorable. It could not be denied that with her looks and god-given talent for assassination that the girl belonged to the Zoldyck family.

With their sudden appearance, Silva lowered his guard and relaxed. It could be seen by his face that he adored the presence of his dearest daughter. With a soft tone, he asked, "Y/N, dear, what are you doing here? I thought you were out of the house."

The Lower butlers secretly beg the assassin to spare them from their death. By doing this, not only do they have a higher chance to survive, but they could also continue to contribute in caring for the Head's most adored daughter, Y/N Zoldyck.

One with no common sense would simply assume that Y/N was the glass child of the Zoldyck family, but behind closed doors they couldn't be any more wrong. Y/N was the glue that kept the family together. She was known to be cruel, sadistic, and outstanding in the art of assassination. However, there were people such as her siblings that could see the other side of her. Most of the time, Y/N was a kind and calm individual outside of work. And today just so happened to be a day where she felt generous.

Y/N thought for a bit before shaking her head, "I thought I told you our agreement about killing butlers in the mansion. Their screams can be heard from my room. It would be better if you killed them quickly or just let them free," she sighed as she turned her eyes to the poor butlers that had been severely tortured by electric shock.

Silva on the other hand glared sharply. Although it was subtle, his eyes went smaller, and clenched his hand.

He hated it.

He hated it when HIS daughter ignored him for Illumi.

He despised it when HIS daughter left him alone to play with Kalluto.

He loathed it when HIS daughter was playing video games with Milluki.

He felt sick to his stomach whenever he witnessed HIS daughter braiding Alluka's hair.

He detested it when HIS daughter is 'playing' outside with Killua and his pathetic excuses of friends.

And oh dear god did he want to smash a boulder across his head whenever he saw HIS daughter laughing with her mother and grandfather.

Silva loved his only daughter to death. Every inch of his daughter belonged to him and ONLY him alone. He hated sharing with others, family only being a small exception. If he could, he would lock her in his room and make her look at him and ONLY him alone.

Knowing that the entire family would riot against him if he were to bring harm to the assassin, he buried that plan deep within his heart and continued to be a 'good dad' for her. He forgot the agreement and decided to play it funny so that his daughter could let this case pass.

"I apologize, dear," Silva grumbled with a fake frown. "Unfortunately, these foolish butlers failed their mission and their penalty is nothing but death. I thought it would be great to punish them first but I overlooked an important part,"

Y/N kept her mouth shut and looked at her father. Somehow, Her emotions had stirred up from her father's response. She knew that her father loved her the most out of her brothers. He would remember every word she had said and did not dare to break any promises. Sadly, although she had been feeling generous, today has been a tiring day for her and all she wanted is a good night's rest.

"Just let them free for my sake. I couldn't hear them screaming any longer! Do you know how much their screams had disturbed me from my sleep?! This is a simple agreement and somehow you can't even remember my words. I'm so disappointed in you," Y/N spat in tiredness. As soon as she said that, she quickly turned her back and jumped to her room which is located on the outer side of the fortress.

Silva hid his rage and waved to her daughter's back. "I hope you'll have a nice dream, my sweet Y/N"

Soon after Y/N left the room, the temperature dropped. The butlers shivered as the waited for another wave of electricity to shoot through their bodies, but nothing came. They glanced up at their boss, only to see him with an expressionless face.

Without another word, he allowed the ball of electricity growing on his hand to explode, killing the butlers in an instant. With his eyes full of tenderness, he took a deep breath of air.

"I'll make it up to you, my daughter..."

Zeno sighed tirelessly as he observed his sons actions. "When will he stop with this obsessive behaviour? Those butlers did nothing except make sure Y/N was taken care of, and yet he still killed them? In all my years I've never seen Silva express such madness before."

Illumi sighed in helplessness to his grandfathers words, "Even I'm starting to get a bit bored now, As her beloved eldest brother I must make sure that she is on the path to success. Father doesn't need to get involved when she has me by her side at all times."

"You're right," Milluki replied in annoyance, "Though Y/N is next in line to head the family, seems like dad is a little too eager for her to stay by his side, am I right?" He grumbled as he shoved a handful of chips into his mouth.

The 3 of them shared looks of confusion as Silva finally got up to exit his room.

All they could do is wait.

Summary: Jamil was cleaning the dinner table and you had to pick him up by his shirt to get him to stop. That’s your job. And also because you wanted to vent and mess around with him a little bit. Grudges are not easy to get rid of.

(Hehehehehe Janitor is bullying Jamil this time.)

“Buddy,” you quite literally picked Jamil up by the back of his collar, forcing him to drop the dinner plate back on the table, “I’m being paid to clean up this mess. Just leave it there. I’ll get it done.”

You didn’t have to pick him up like a wet cat but there’s just something about Kalim’s buddy that makes you want to egg him. His expression was always on the solid side, but wasn’t quite as true a stone as he wanted it to be. It reminded you of cracked clay plates on the ground, or layers of paints that were wrinkled and aged by time. Just made you want to dig your fingers in there and see what lays deep beneath.

You’ve seen the amount of times Jamil hissed under his breath and strained out a smile towards the oblivious crowds. That fake and poorly done vision of innocence that he gives to the bright Kalim. It’s different to Jade’s, as he was never one to pass up an opportunity to unnerve others. Jamil and Jade may both be calm, but one of them was certainly not composed.

You don’t like to butt into people’s business unless it affected your salary or health in any way. You generally leave stuff well enough alone since it always brings about trouble, however…

However, you have a certain amount of pride, a confidence in your mind and senses if you will. Those were the things that you had to use to survive without much injury. The few things you had, you kept a grip tighter than anyone, making sure they were always at full peak so that no one can push you around without you winning in the end.

You suppose the reason why you liked messing with Jamil as much as you do was because he violated one of those things that you took great pride in. That Snake’s Charmer of his, making you say things you never want to, having your head be filled with a dream-like fog until he was done with you. You have an ironclad grip on your sense, so much so that you never confused your dreams for memories. Of course you would notice this unique magic.

And you hated it.

You hated it, because how dare he wrangle you into something you don’t want to do. How dare he treat you like a puppet to say what he wants to hear. How dare he be the same scum that has festered in this college, so engorged on their own magic and pride that he thinks nothing of taking control over your words and actions.

So you couldn’t help the sneer on your face when Jamil said with a smile, “Oh there’s no need. It’s my duty to do at least this much. I’ve been doing this for so long that I get uncomfortable if I don’t this.”

“Ah, but Jamil,” dear, dear Kalim leaned from around the corner, wet rag at hand to assist in drying the forks and spoons, “I’ve noticed you’ve been stressed out lately, so you have to take a break.”

Courtesy of you, of course. Compared to the regular campus, cleaning Scarabia was absolutely heavenly and left Jamil with little to nothing to do. He’s not lying about being stressed when he’s not doing everything.

“Kalim, what did I say about being in the kitchen?” Jamil sighs as he reaches for your fingers, trying to pry them off but to no avail.

“It’s okay! I’m not cooking. I’m just drying like the Janitor told me to,” you cast Kalim a glance complete with a raised eyebrow, “Oh right! Jamil! You need to sleep! And that’s an order!”

Good boy. Now will Jamil follow suit in being a good boy as well?

The force of Jamil’s turning head had him swinging from your grip, “What? Kalim, uh, wait a moment!”

“Go to bed!”

“I’m taking you to bed,” you set Jamil straight with a shake of your hand, gripping Jamil’s chin to force his eyes forward, “And close those eyes and mouth of yours. Wouldn’t want to strain them now, would you?”

You can feel the way his jaw tightened, forced to swallow his pride to continue seeming innocent in front of the other students you’re passing by.

Honestly he could just kick you out at any time. Sure you have connections with the faeries and the staff members, but you can’t be worth it by this point. Is he hoping to find a way to break you down? To taste a victory that he constantly holds himself back from with that act of his?

It's almost cute really, like a school boy trying to beat his rival because he has a crush on them.

i think like. the latest superman ep. i'm glad it ended up becoming clear to jimmy and lois that clark wasn't hiding it bc he didn't trust them specifically but bc he was just scared especially since he hadn't told anyone anything like that ever before, and that they made it clear that they accepted him for who he is and ended up pretty understanding about the whole thing despite being mad at first, like idk it feels like a pretty cool queer analogy imo especially when it's put side by side with the literal queer relationship facing the same fears of being ostracized...

... but i still really feel like the whole lois trust issues thing hasn't been resolved. i think it will be in future episodes considering not only is their relationship the backbone of the whole series, but also the general is probably her goddamn dad, who's also the same guy who gave her the issues in question. but i think her arc of realizing that constantly demanding answers from everyone around her and putting herself and others in dangerous situations to satisfy both her fear of being out of the loop and also her need to pursue her own ambitions is not very good, is definitely not quite done yet?

and people are probably gonna use that as an excuse to be dicks and complain about her character being poorly written or whatever, but this definitely seems to be something she's been set up for from the very beginning, and just bc she's still not quite getting it (she was mad that jimmy didn't tell her for crying out loud!!! it's not even his secret to tell!!!) doesn't necessarily mean she won't. she clearly has unresolved problems that can't just be magicked away in this one episode, the trust issues run deep, i mean come on she was scared that he was faking having feelings for her bc of this shit. she was probably scared the whole clark thing was just a facade, which isn't entirely unreasonable, i mean hey in some iterations it IS a facade, but like she clearly has had some pretty bad experiences with having secrets kept from her that would make her spiral off into thinking like this...

anyway point is it's not out of character or bad writing for her to behave like this, it makes sense entirely considering how she's behaved all season and the past parts of herself that she has shared. saying her character was ruined by this stuff just doesn't make any sense to me bc like. she's literally been like this from the start! obsessing over finding answers! only it turns out it's not just bc she wants to get recognition but also bc she's so used to being left out of the loop that now she's become desperate to be in the loop as much as possible! a character doing shitty things due to unresolved emotional issues isn't bad writing y'all and it also doesn't make her the goddamn antichrist. this is a kid's show. chill out

oh plenty, but let me keep it as short as i can

cap'n 3 (real name junko 'jun' ishikawa):

country kid who was entranced by inkopolis plaza's unusual (to her) look

was originally super cheerful and peppy before Various Incidents

very creative, but none of the adults in her life ever appreciated it

likes to draw (doesn't do it much now) and bought a bass guitar during the events of splat 1 because she loved squid squad that much

became suuuper close with gramps and the squid sisters (as a matter of fact, the 'jun' nickname came from marie) bc her own 'family' was. um.

being sanitized kind of ruined her a bit. her left eye is a slightly lighter shade than her other one to this day, and the sanitization gave her memory loss, an aversion to food, and general odd behavior for a while

looks menacing, is really kind of tired and also shy

gave 4 her old agent outfit (cape included) since she didn't really need it anymore

still cannot believe she's the captain

very different from her younger, happier, more awake self, but she tries not to think about that.

agent 4 (real name naoki 'masu' masuda):

parents wanted her to be a prodigy, and the pressure they put on her made her snap and run away. most pre-inkopolis square memories are deeply repressed

basically no one gave a shit about her when she first moved to inkopolis except for the splat 2 promo kid with the black v-neck tee. they're still kinda sorta friends

liked flow because she felt like she cared (and she actually kinda did)

pushes herself way too hard, somewhat self-conscious

got a few injuries during hero mode and was hesitant to let marie patch em up

straight up did not speak until callie got saved. still doesn't really talk much.

her and marie weren't super besties at first, the only reason they ever clicked was because they were both sad loners with negative self-esteem

marina found her real name in the octarian records seen in that one chat room session

barely redesigns her locker, and when they do, it's usually to add a sticker

like i know the resources r kinda small and tbh artists arent the fastest workers but good lord please fight the urge to make fastfood-like stuffs with AI, my soul dies bit by bit knowing that those things r only possible because people put pictures or even fanarts that have Diego Luna's face in the AI's algorithm or however anyone calls it. its harmful not just for artists but also the people whose face's being copied because deep-fake do be scary as fuck and unfortunately too real for anyone's comfort at this point

and the fucking evil mice (idk if i can just name them) is having a huge drama for using AI generated shit openly and shamelessly rn so you know for a fact that they'll find any wiggle room to cut off artist's jobs as much as they can. thinking of Andor's posters or worse, Opening like that One show that the mice also made got made out of AI, like, for a show about fighting the big powers and also got praised because of good editing, film making, sound design, set design... etc like u get what i mean, people who care about the Art that they're making, get replaced by the souless mashed up abomination made out of stolen bits and pieces of what was there before

so yea in conclusion Please Stop Using AI For Your Favourite Medias and if possible PLEASE DONT USE AI AT ALL, please stop giving the machines fuels to step on the people that they're stealing from

Hello shigaraki expert! Been a while, how are you? My question for today is: what are the similarities between izuku and shigaraki? Both in personality, and experiences and how do they diverge? Happy Aquarius season!

aahh I'll never feel like I can really live up to that title a;kshfk;asjf

I've gone back and forth on this a lot--used to think they were SOOO similar, then I thought they were sooooo different, now I'm kind of just in the middle.

For their experiences, Tomura's villain journey is subverted, kind of fake-out version of Izuku's hero journey. Izuku inherited a legacy that was genuinely intended to be passed onto him, for him to carry forward and surpass the person who passed the legacy onto him. Tomura on the other hand got handed a legacy that was never intended for him to keep, to carry forward for himself. Nope. Their experiences start out the same in a perfectly foiled way, and then diverge into different pathways when Tomura's coming-of-age villain journey turns out to be a farce from the get go, since AFO never wanted him to mature and see inside himself and figure life out the right way. Very very unlike what All Might genuinely wants for Izu and the rest of the UA kids.

Similarities I'd draw between the two of them are their self-destructive tendencies, lack of self-preservation in general, and kind of a refusal to face their past selves. That last one is a similarity but also a difference. But they both go go go until they're almost dead on their feet. Both had no problem offering up their bodies for a greater power--though obviously Tomura's situation was under false pretenses while Izuku's was genuinely meant for him to take for himself.

As for their personalities I think it's hard to compare and contrast because pretty much all of Tomura's personality that we've seen in the timeline of the manga is trauma response. His endless anger? Result of trauma. His jaded and nihilistic outlook on pretty much everything? Trauma. The occasional catastrophic emotional outbursts? Trauma.

I think the similarities in personality are that Tomura accepts people as they come (the ones he allows to live--aka just the LOV lol) while Izuku looks for the best in people. So in a way, if you take the murder and the trauma out of Tomura, I think you could say they're both relatively easy going people when it comes to interacting with others (in both of their cases, depending on who it is). Tomura lets things slide when his teammates yell at him, threaten him, decide to just not cooperate with him. Izuku is able to shake off instances when people take their issues out on him, or rather he's able to move on from them smoothly (with these traits, I think they're literally the perfect hero and villain for each other lol). In other ways though they're both super tightly wound and can flip like a switch, but in different ways for different reasons. Tomura is easily triggered and it's catastrophic when he is, and Izuku is an over-thinker/over-analyzer, and if someone hits the right nerve (insulting the life of someone he cares about, threatening someone's happiness, those things we've seen him get pissed off about) he gets easily riled up for that. Fun stuff.

If we're looking at 5 year old Tenko, I think there are more similarities. Both were kids who wanted to befriend the friendless or stick up for the bullied. I think we'll find at the end with Tomura when we see more of his personality is that at their core, they're both sensitive and compassionate people. Tomura just....really isn't capable of showing anything like that right now, even though it's in there, deep down (which is the point of showing Tenko so much, a reminder that he is like that).

I'm really more wanting to see what Tomura is like when he isn't just in constant crisis mode. The personality he does have isn't very visible to us right now and I'm eager to see him differently before the end of the manga.

women under 30-ish just really either don't have friends, because any tension is easier resolved by ghosting, helping each other is a yuck, and everyone is a cloistered hermit post-covid, so it's not even a concept. That, or they have many superficial friendships they won't care for because everyone is a rentoid that has to move a lot for jobs, and that's intensional design.

Thus even honest to god lesbians of main internet age group only really care about finding the one and being isolated together, preferably in a cabin in the woods.

Women's friendships are a bygone.

As someone who is closer to 40 than 30, when you're in college it's far easier to make friends or at least to meet people as you are all in the same place, attending the same courses, knowing all the same people. You don't need an excuse to socialize. You also have plenty of time to just hang out. But are these friendships long-lasting? Not necessarily because many are just situational bonds that dissolve as soon as you graduate and move away for work.

I don't think it's solely a matter of age though as in my experience most women just don't have the desire to invest in and nurture friendships. Many are content with surface level stuff, as you point out. I've always cared more. I remember calling all my friends from primary school at the end of summer because I assumed they would want to keep in touch even if we were all attending a different middle school. And none of them (about 5 or 6) were interested in continuing our friendship. It crushed me.

As you get older, people simply have less time or rather they have other priorities. They get married, start a family and then you don't see them for a good 5 years. After which they reemerge but it's likely you no longer have anything in common. You know a friendship has run its course when every time you get together all you end up talking is your past as friends because you no longer have anything else to talk about other than a few generalities that are common to everyone.

You try to meet new people but the thing is, unlike in school or in university, you often only have one thing in common, usually a hobby. Which is fine. But it doesn't really lend itself to deep meaningful friendships. On top of that, getting older means you're more set in your ways and less flexible but also your BS detector is better so you tend to avoid people who are obvious messes vs when you're younger, you're up for anything, you have more energy and therefore you're more likely to make connections, even if these end up in flames.

As for lesbians, most of us want to meet 'the one' which is a normal and human desire, especially when the outside world is so hostile to us and so unrelatable. So I do think lesbians tend to maybe put all their eggs into that one basket but lesbians run into the same problems as heterosexuals: family and kids (many lesbians want children) take priority and friendships take a backseat.

I don't know about the 'cabin in the woods' aspect (which is very US by the way) but there is indeed this romantic idea that your spouse should fulfill all your needs in terms of human connection and obviously that's not realistic nor healthy. As a lesbian meeting someone you actually connect and have chemistry with is so rare that I think these (lucky) lesbians assume they shouldn't push their luck: they found a romantic partner and that's the best they're going to get. Hence the fantasy of "she will be my spouse AND my best friend". That's my theory anyway.

Something you mention is internet and social media and I agree that while it may seem easier on paper to connect with other people thanks to the reach of the internet, it's also easier to ghost and block plus it creates this fake online intimacy that often doesn't translate in real life. So many young people seem content living online rather than connecting face to face.

And to end: it's time to stop blaming covid for lack of human contact. Covid was four years ago. Time to move on.

Hanamichi Sakuragi:

Our beloved troublemaker is more than he seems. Although he is known for his short temper, Hanamichi is far more sensitive than most people think. He deeply cares about his teammates, even a little bit for Rukawa, and for his friends. Honestly, he loves hanging out with his silly friends, they make him happy and always encourage him in their own way to continue being himself and achieve his goals.

He is willing to do anything he can in order to make his loved ones happy and sometimes even those he considers as rivals. From time to time he calls Oda to find out how he's going and to talk for a bit, he won't admit that to anyone of course, apart from Mito who is his most trustworthy friend.

Hanamichi is actually really shy, especially when it comes to girls. What if he says something wrong and upset them? What if Rukawa's crazy fangirls start yelling at him again? He wouldn't want that all. In general he is just an angry cinnamon roll that deserves all the love in the world.

Kaede Rukawa:

Incredible, fantastic, unique, popular, handsome. Those are some of the words his fangirls would use to describe the #11 of the basketball team. He never seems to care though. Kaede has no time for relationships and falling in love, his biggest passion is basketball (and maybe sleeping). It's not that he will say no to someone who will really care about him and support him but he isn't in the mood for all that doki doki stuff.

As he has mentioned many times, he loves sleeping. It's not hard for him to fall asleep in class, while he drives his bike early in the morning or while taking the bus/train. He has actually missed his destination because of that a few times. Apart from that he is someone who works hard and wants to make his dreams come true. Underneath the expressionless look on his face hides a very competitive and emotional person.

When he has free time, he usually sleeps or listens to music. It helps him relax and take his mind off practice for a little bit. He enjoys staying home and watch a movie or take his bike and go for a ride when the neighborhood gets quiet. Kaede is actually a very sweet person who has priorities.

Hisashi Mitsui:

A gangster. Another troublemaker. A brokenhearted person. Always an excellent basketball player. Hisashi has always been on my favorite characters because what he went through was very realistic and painful. He gave up something he loved because he got hurt while trying to prove his worth but never stopped loving it. That's our sweet boy. Even though he tries to act cool, Hisashi is an awkward young man. He is very shy deep down.

Also with Miyagi and Hanamichi they like to pull pranks on Rukawa, which leave him completely unbothered. Hisashi actually likes reading books and sports magazines. He tries to be the best he can so reading about other people's achievements inspire him to achieve his goal. Sometimes he looks himself in the mirror and smiles because his front teeth are fake and he's worried someone may notice.

He is someone who would easily fall asleep while watching a movie or reading a book. Compliments actually make him blush, although he likes being encouraged and feels confident when people praise him, it's only inside the court. If someone makes a compliment, he feel really awkward and blush. He is simply a person who needs love and affection.

Miyagi Ryota:

What can be said about this sweet short king? He is someone who enjoys the feeling of being appreciated and taken care of. He likes having someone who will encourage him and feels really proud when his teammates and friends tell him he's doing an excellent job.

Miyagi actually feels uncomfortable about his height, he would love to be tall like Sakuragi or Rukawa. Maybe girls would find him more attractive him then. When he has free time, he spends it pulling pranks on Mitsui. The look on his face is priceless every time. Other times he will go for shopping with Ayako, he enjoys spending time with her and discuss with her about his hopes and dreams.

Miyagi isn't afraid to get into a fight, if his friends need help, he is the first to step in. He is actually pretty skilled and quick so he has a big chance of winning. He someone who takes his time while taking a bath. The warm water makes him relax and enjoy the moment. All he needs is attention and love.

Sumeru branch of Kaeya's hangout also "finished."

If I care about Liyue NPCs less than Mond ones, I don't care about Sumeru at all. So I checked out of this one pretty much immediately, especially once they started in on the play and Kaeya explaining an in-universe story to you. I've had enough of watching plays with poorly edited dialogue and 0 production values, ok. This is, what, minimum the third instance? The few times I came back to click on dialogue options, I was not impressed either.

The general plot seems to be that Kaeya fills in as an actor in a play at Port Ormos. At one point, he prompts you, in the audience, to select between two dialogue options, "I will face my fate bravely" or "I will challenge my fate and rise above it." Then at the end, he talks about the classic expression "the world is a stage and everyone's an actor."

One interesting point is that he gives you a 4 star item, the same way some major world quests and certain story quests do:

NOTE: This is not unique to Kaeya hangout, Thoma gives you a 4 star item too, the Lucky Omamori, and let's be real, there's no special significance to that. This one has a much longer description though.

I don't think there was anything notable in the quest itself, aside from this thread they float about fate and how you accept/reject it.

When talking about "All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players," Kaeya says he sees the world as a play put on by an inept god. But he believes people have the option to reject their role (fate) and... walk off the stage to become part of the audience.

Kaeya: Everyone, you and I included, is both an actor and a member of the audience.

Kaeya: If you don't like the script, just walk off the stage and join the audience. You always have a choice.

This take on the metaphor.... is a bit weird.

If you think about the natural direction of this metaphor if framed via fate, it's that you either put on the best possible performance (face your fate bravely) or you tear up the script (defy fate).

What does walking off the stage to join the audience even mean?

"Everyone is both an actor and a member of the audience," bruh, that's not how it goes. If the entire world is a stage, there is no longer an audience (in this world), only actors... If you are saying everyone is BOTH, then there is no option for "join the audience." You already ARE the audience??

What is Kaeya even saying, concretely? That you can always give up being plot relevant and just be a background NPC? On brand for how Genshin handles non-archon characters, I suppose...

Like a lot of Genshin's attempts at being fake deep, this stuff doesn't work because they don't use their brains when writing it.

The news was droning on.

There was a new story about Terrasave, the place that Claire was working at right now. You listened, though you weren’t sure why. If Claire needed your help she would call you. But you watched it anyway. Leon didn’t even work with Terrasave but as you sat there on your couch you convinced yourself that maybe he was helping Claire in some capacity. Maybe you would see a glimpse of that easily recognizable hair.

You tried not to remember the night Leon broke up with you. It hurt you every time you thought about it and it had been a month. You were consistently convincing yourself you were over him.

Even as you sat here, hoping to see him.

You’re better off without me, he had said. My line of work is too dangerous for relationships, he argued.

I could get you killed at any time.

I don’t like that you’re working with Claire more. It’s not safe.

I’m drinking the normal amount.

We need to break up.

I'm breaking up with you.

His words, always so sweet and careful, felt like knives in your skin that night. And you hadn’t spoken to him since. Why would you? After he said all of that, he sure as hell was convinced he didn’t need you. Claire told you he was just trying to help you but you knew better than that. Something was going on in his head and he didn’t want you there to try and figure it out.

You were coming to terms with it.

Slowly.

Beside you, your phone was ringing. You picked it up, not even looking at the caller ID because you were faking focus on the television.

“Hello,” you said, voice monotone. Silence. You rolled your eyes, tilting your head. “Hello?” “Hi.”

You knew that quiet raspy voice anywhere. You were startled to hear him on the other end. The sound of his voice was a comfort even though you could tell he was drunk. He had a subtle slur. He was good at pretending he wasn’t drunk but his voice always gave him away too easily.

“Leon,” you breathed. “What do you want?” You were angry. Of course you were! He had hurt you and left you and you had every right to be pissed at him. But you also didn’t want him to hang up. You wanted to hear his voice. And you needed to hear what he had to say.

“I was talking to Claire.” You didn’t say anything. “And she said you were okay.” You remained silent, forcing him to dig himself into a hole or dig himself out of one. “And I just wanted to see. If you are okay.”

“I don’t know why you think you deserve an answer to that question Leon.”

“I know. I’m sorry I just…” You could hear him shaking his head. It was quiet on the other side, he must have been at home. “I’ve been thinking about you. I miss you. I miss you so much. But I said I can’t have you because I don’t want you to die,” he whispered. He sounded like he was pouting. You could practically see his face, eyebrows knitted and a deep frown on his cute face.

“Leon, I'm not gonna die.”

“But you will! If you stayed with me, you would’ve been eaten up by a zombie or a dog or a bioweapon or a-”

“I get it Leon.”

“I miss you. I miss you.” You held still, like it would help you not feel something when he spoke those words you wanted so badly for him to say. “My life isn’t good without you. In fact, it’s bad.”

“Leon, you broke up with me.”

“But I did it because I love you too much. Why can’t I just love you and not worry about you?”

“Are you home Leon?”

“No.” You could lightly hear something in the background like bells or chimes or something.

“Where are you? Are you okay?”

“I just told you I wasn’t. Why aren’t you listening?” You shook your head, getting up.

“Leon, where are you?” You grabbed your jacket and slid on your shoes, worrying about going into overdrive. “Are you close to home?”

“Yes,” he whispered. You grabbed your jacket, opening the door to your apartment.

“Where-” you started and jumped, almost running right into Leon. You hung up the phone and stared at him. “Did you drive here?”

“No. Clarie drove me.” You rolled your eyes. “I’m sorry,” he whispered.

“You fucked up.” He nodded.

“I fucked up.”

“How do I know you won’t just run away when you sober up?”

“I haven’t sobered up in…a little bit, admittedly.” You stared at him. You shouldn’t be even entertaining this. “But I won’t run away. Drunk promise.”

“You get to sleep on the couch.”

“That sounds amazing. I miss your couch so much.” You rolled your eyes and moved aside.

“Fine. Come inside.”

Okay, I saw this post a while ago about why do fic writers make the Buckley Parents be truly horrible people. Most often this shows up in writing them as racist, homophobic and physically abusive jackasses. Given I have a fic where I am making them truly horrible people this has been kicking around in my brain.

So beware my deep thoughts on this...

Okay, so first off I have some personal experiences that color my views. Some parental grandparents stuff I'm still working through. So I'm always going to lean towards found family if canon bio parents suck. So I'm already not inclined to write redemption/forgiveness towards shitty parents who haven't made an effort at change or did it for all the wrong reasons so it is temporary. (oh no my neighbors think I'm bad for not knowing what is happening in my adult child/grandchild lives I must pretend for a while.)

But generally speaking it can be hard to accept that basically okay humans make some very selfish choices that cause harm. It is easier to accept if we only highlight the bad in them. Or we use things our personal beliefs say are characteristics that only bad people have.

We know if we are writing any "realism" eventually Eddie & Buck are going to face homophobia. Yes, even in California. Southern California tends to vote more conservative but northern California has its jackasses too. I was called slurs when protesting Prop 8 by a minivan family. Now I'm lucky and the important people in my life didn't get flustered by me coming out as bi. But that is not always the case. Writing can definitely be a way to process that. Be it an actual experience or just the fear of coming out. So that can be a factor in people writing the Buckley Parents as homophobic jerks.

And often in reality if you find a homophobic/racist jerk then you've also found an ableist jerk. Now again my own personal experience with my grandparents ableism is clouding my judgement. They did and said horrible things when I was a kid. It is believable to me that the Buckleys might not be the greatest with Chris.

Now my grandparents also lost a child. Not as young as Daniel but it was before I was born. It was tragic and unexpected. But they never wanted/allowed my father to grieve beyond what they felt was appropriate. They had a distaste for therapy. It was for OTHER people, the ones with real problems. So I can see the Buckley Parents saying and doing shitty things around Postpartum and PTSD issues because I've known people whose own losses just made them jerks, even to those closest to them.

I also think a lot of us are just tired of shows pushing redemption arcs for shitty parents solely based on the fact they are the DNA donors. I've stopped watching shows when they lean too heavily on that for me. SWAT comes to mind as a more recentish one I stopped because of that. We want the characters to be validated that they don't have to accept shitty people in their life. Be it the mother who fakes her death to work with the CIA or the father who abandoned his family for another or the father who constantly kept his kids traveling to train to kill monsters or the parents who created a child solely to save their other child then never told him while treating him different his whole life. We want these characters to eventually get closure/revenge/peace that leads to love and happiness. Because maybe we know we'll never get that in reality or not as satisfyingly. (The closure/revenge part, hopefully we all find the love, happiness and peace part.) So writing the Buckleys getting verbally sliced up by Eddie is satisfying.

So I think there are a lot of complex reasons to write the Buckleys as extra shitty. But also it is easy to build an antagonist off a slightly established character.

Or maybe I just need therapy and I'm overthinking.

i have sort of mixed feelings?? though probably lean towards the dislike of it all more than being for it. first off, i don’t think realistically most of the ones that have come on my tiktok are harmful, though a few of them have come close to being scarily real and that is slightly worrying

i don’t know if they’re meant to be like photos or drawings or what?? a few i’ve seen i think are meant to be like photo shoots, which are the ones that always have me 🤨 because i think i’ve missed something. but a lot of the sci-fi ~ fantasy ones look more like digital art than photos

i don’t entirely agree with ai ‘art’ or media, be it writing, music, digital art, deep fakes, photos, whatever form of media we consume as people. simply for the fact that i believe humans will always do it better. plus, having that sort of unfiltered freedom is all fun for some people but can be dangerous if given to groups that have malicious intentions. which is scary part.

sure, a computer can write fancy words, probably come up with a full plot and have it written in minutes but it lacks the human empathy, and emotion, and experience. same with ai art, or photos. behind every art piece, either with traditional media or digital, there’s intention behind every choice made, what textures to use, placement, hidden mistakes that have been covered up but still a secret behind what lays on top. and no matter how good ai becomes at replicating stuff like that, i don’t think it’ll ever truly compare to human talent. that doesn’t mean i don’t think it can’t be a useful tool if you ever find yourself in a rut and want some form of guidance, or a new perspective on a question or topic to help you achieve your art in a way you’re happy with

as for the photos that have been on tiktok, i think maybe it’s important to label that it is ai generated if you desperately want to create and post photos like that. some of the ones i’ve seen are obviously fake, a lot of fantasy mixed with bts which when you first look at it you can tell isn’t real. however there have been a few that have looked a little too real with no disclaimer that they aren’t real photos. i say i have mixed feelings because i know the people that are posting that kind of stuff are just playing around, however, ai as whole, in terms of this topic i’m very iffy towards, and i’m sure it’s a topic that a lot of people will start to talk more about now that ai is very prevalent within both online and offline spaces in school or work, probably anywhere at this point 😭

i have similar thoughts of ai voice generation too, it’s kinda weird and kinda dangerous. because again, it’s fun for people to make their favorite singers do covers of other artist’s songs. but that doesn’t mean groups of people who have less than innocent intentions can’t also have access to these tools to spread a narrative that is entirely false

ai art ≠ art. they’re not the same thing!!! and will never ever be equals in my eyes

however i also don’t think there is a need to feed a computer the faces of bts and made it shit out a ton of funky, sometimes weird art? photos? whatever it’s meant to be. because somewhere down the line that’s gonna lead to some mean people doing some mean things

@unrestrainedbalderdash said they don't care if I put Jonathan Crane into my idea of how I would do an adult Scooby cartoon. And since they are someone who I really liked and I really just need one person saying "hey is okay" to me to overly babble over something here we are.

Disclaimer: I did not watch the Velma show. I saw the trailer and reviews but that is it. This is also not a recreation of it. It's merely how I would do an adult scooby doo story with a more representative cast.

Is time to grow up.

With the end of high school comes the anxiety inducing question of what to do next? To the Mystery Inc. the answer was always obivous: continuing solving mysteries together. Unfortunally fate appeared to have other plans. Between parental presure, a crashing economy, a shitty job market and an investigation that abelit sucefull ended up breaking the Mystery Machine, hurting a civilian and facing the local authorities ultimatum that they could not keep their unregulated detective agency it appears to be the end.

But the thing is mysteries never ever leave the gang. Where they are things happen and as they face the monsters of adult life other monsters may appear on the way. Are they ready?

▫️The Gang

- Velma is our main characther. She is a second generation imigrant kid from an indian-american family, possibly autistic (mostly represented by her sensory issues and examples of masking) and a genius who suffers from anxiety and the pressure that both comes with societal expectations related to prejudice, familial expectations (especially as a second generation imigrant) and being a gifted kid. She is also a lesbian.

- Shaggy is Shaggy. They are a possibly stoner black latino (he may be a stonner or it may be just harmfull steriotypes possibly both) and they are also ace and non-binary using they/then pronouns. Norville is their deadname and the fact their parents call them that is a dead give away of the time of people they are. Shaggy was adopted and their parents are upped middle class white guys who adopted three POC kids and act extremily white saviour over it. Their bio parents are implied to be scientistis at Star Labs that died in an freaky accident when they eere still little. They may have something to do with Scooby being a talking dog. Though they met by Shaggy adopting a stray puppy. Their personality is still the same. Except for the parents issues. Like they are still the same glutonous coward who cares a lot for their friends and likes bad horror movies.

- Scooby is Scooby. Like nothing changed at all about him. Except that outside the gang people do question the fact he is a talking dog. Since their world is really weird people go from allien to failed scientific experiment of either LexCorp or Starlabs. The more accepted theory is that he is the first non-human to manifest a meta gene. He isn't being studies because he flied over radar until the gaang started solving mysteries and at this point he was too popular plus the governent had other more important issues going on. So he is just a fact.

- Daphne is a girl who defy expectations. She is weird. She has two mons (a thing I know is cannon on the Velma cartoon and am using), one is a british martial artist and the other a american fashion designer and she got very deep into both of her mons careears. She has some relatives in jail and she learned a bunch with them. She loves to learn except not the school stuff, so her grades were meh and people usually saw her as just a pretty face, even though she has a bunch of great skils like fighting, fashion, faking signatures, lock picking, stealth, acting, a bunch of sports and more. She is bissexual and has a huge crush on both Elvira and Hex Girls. She also loves escape artists (being good at scaping herself) and is a fan of bad horror movies and campy actors. She also has a crush on Fred.

- Fred is a sweet bissexual himbo and he is very clearly neurodivergent and definitvaly autistic. He stims a lot, has dificulty getting social clues, misses most sarcasm and some abstract expressions, has a huge special interest in traps, sometimes goes non-verbal, just the whole book. He is a rich white boy but fails to meet his misoginistic racist parents expectations not only by hangin with the gaang but by having a disability. His parents never took him to a doctor to be diagnosed because they believed it would bring shame to the family to have a disabled kid and just hoped he would "grow out of it". He does have some internalized prejudice but it's working to be better. He also has a huge crush in Daphne, is a very supportive and loyal friend and infodumps people a lot.

▫️The Pilot

The pilot episode starts with the gaang reciving their ultimatum and having to undergo an state aproved course to became private investigators and be abble to keep the Mystery Inc. going. Shennanigans issue and they all end up failing.

Daphne is too good on the self defense courses and also may have caused a teacher who implied she would need to do sexual favors for him if she hoped to pass in his boring law class to never be able to walk again. Luckily he was too afraid to press charges.

Fred keept trying to insert trap making into the course to ridiculous extremes.

Shaggy broke the vending machine, ate all the food and also just keept running away from the clues in all the pratical texts. They answers also mostly involved running and getting uninvolved.

No one knew if Scooby should do dog training or humam courses and he ended in a confusing stream of buerocracy.

Velma should by all means had suceeded though and the only reason she failed was racial bias. She tries to brush it off, after all she was not going to be a detective on her own anyway and all her friends failed, but it clearly afects her and this will be a thing hanging over her head the whole season. The episode ends with Velma discovering she got approved to a full scholarship on a fictional ivvy league university outisde of Crystal Cove she had applied more for her parents sakes than her in criminology.

▫️They failed what now?

After a whole debate during the second episode and the gaang being supportive even if it means it is the definitive end for them, Velma decides to go to college. Of course trying to keep together the whole gaang somehow ends up involved with the campus.

- Shaggy and Scobby get a job at the college cafeteria that Shaggy uses to move into a trailer in the college parking lot (that they plans into turning in a food truck) so they can get away from their transphobic parents. Scobby of course moves with them.

- With help of white rich cis man priviledge Fred gets accepted to the same school but into architeture (he does uses this knoledge to plan traps but also realizes he likes projecting rooms on general). The thing is thanks to missanderstanding a sarcastic coment from Velma he ends up being part of a very "bro" fraternity. It's mostly played for laughs as he definitivally doesn't belong there but also accidentaly starts turning the guys into better people. But also features on Fred understanding his priviledge and the internalized prejudices his parents dumped on him and evolving past them and also dealing with ableism.

- Daphne decided to try to work in a close by cafe and became roomates with a goth girl called June that works with Shaggy and Scooby. Both are fired and decide to open an etsy store together. She is also doing an online course on fashion. Velma has a crush on June and June is implied to have a criminal past. The etsy store is mostly used for laughs though it also is used to show Daphne dealing with being different from soceity expectations and the hardships of having a small bussiness.

▫️The Plot

The story focuses on their adventures on campus as they deal with adult life but also as weird things keep happening and students end up either getting murdered or disapearing all the time. While focused on episodic shennanigans with characther growth as the linear aspect there are some key episodes that show that there's a major conspiracy involving the university's past and the looming presence of an white supremacist cult.

▫️Cool and all but where is Jonathan Crane?

The thing is if I was writing this series I would make the connection with DC be mostly references with some few special episodes starting on the second season (including the obligatory Batman team-up and a episode were Riddler, who is on his P.I arc, is hired to the same case the Mystery Inc is in and they have to work together). So we would have things like Scooby possibly having the metagene, Velma being a Batman fangirl and having some batfam merch in the middle of her detective merch, Fred being a Green Arrow fan and buying trap material for Ace Chemicals and LexCorp, Daphne mentioning her uncle Alfred or Shaggy's bio parents having been Star Lab scientistis. Some name drops like WayneTech or Lex Luthor.

The exception being Jonathan Crane. Jon is an actual relevant secundary characther. After mysterious circunstances involving a fight with the dean, a recomendation letter and an ultimatum, Jonathan leaved Gotham University and became a teacher at the Yet To Be Named University where the gang is.

His disciplines are an eletive about phobias, psychophatology and forensic psychology. He is famous over the campus for being a genius and a great teacher but also for being harsh, having extremely high standards and hard exams and just being creepy and really really weird. There is legit theories of him being some kind of cryptic or a ghost. He has the uncanny hability of walking without making any noise and being abble to be silent and quiet until he suddently scares someone with his presence. He speaks little outside the classroom and is always alone. And if someone tries to be friendly with him, he will just leave and let the person hanging. No one ever saw him eat only drink coffe (that may be spiked with whisky sometimes). He is mostly saw outside classes either writing/typing or reading (he only reads text books and horror stories). He has a crow in his office and while the bird is calm and sweet with him it sings creepy old childrem rhymes and it definitivaly attacked a student who got emotional over a bad grade and started screaming with Crane.

With all that being said Crane is Velma's fsvorite professor and she is his favorite student. He doesn't presure or mocks her and is fascinated by her theories and they can discuss psychology, chesmistry, literature and criminology for hours. They respect each other and have a deep understanding being fairly similar (and yes make Crane be also POC, prefencialy south asian), they are friends and with her family alway Velma sees Crane as a pseudo father-figure. Even Crane's bird Ichabod seems to also enjoy Velma a lot. The rest of the gang has more mixed views of Crane. He is always polite with them but he is also creepy as hell specially with Shaggy and Scooby as he asks them a lot of questions about their fears.

Every single time someone either dies or disappears everyone accuses Crane. He is ALWAYS a suspect. And Velma is his only defender (sometimes the gang as whole also). And he is always show to be innocent. But is also hinted that he is still planning and doing Scarecrow shit and while it's played for laughs the huge impact Crane and Velma's bond have to Velma overcoming her issues is a hint that when it finally happens of Crane being the guilty part and his Scarecrow persona coming to light it will break Velma's heart.

As seen from Paratober, you seem to take the prompts beyond their face value and messed around with the concepts of those prompts (gonna put Jester in a carton box hehe. Can we have Jester loafing? Loafing in a box?)

Personally I’m not a writer, so I don’t know how you guys’ brains work but I love how you come up with interesting ideas stemming from the game’s original material, expanding, digging deeper into them. I look up at you all in wonder hehe

Final Flash Update: an actual review

The DCEU has always been very hit or miss for me, but it has a special place in my heart. When Man of Steel came out, my dad was OBSESSED with it (still is), and it became the first superhero movie I ever watched. Despite the mediocre scores internet-wide (and how the terraforming scared the shit out of me as a kid), I cannot help but love that film to death. It really sparked my interest with superheroes and just ‘nerdier’ stuff in general.

While the DCEU opened me up to the whole world of superheroes, it also became part of what made me so weary of comic book movies. While there were good movies like Wonder Woman (2017) and (hot take) Black Adam, and great ones like the Snydercut, there were also huge disappointments that left me feeling pissed off when the theater lights turned back on. It’s not like all of these movies are downright horrible in every way (exception being 2016’s Suicide Squad), but each seemed to have its own form of kryptonite. The Justice League (2017)’s being its lack of character development; Wonder Woman 1984’s forgettable plot; and of course, Batman v. Superman’s Martha scene.

With the DCEU’s track record, the over saturation of superhero media, and with Ezra Miller being… Ezra Miller, my hopes for this movie were extremely low. But I actually left the theater feeling pretty.. decent?

Here are my main takeaways. Spoilers ahead:

Plot + Characters

As of now, I haven’t noticed any critical plot holes, which is pretty great, especially considering it’s a multiverse movie and all. Everything that blew up in Barry’s face was tied up nicely. But I am sorta curious to see how moving the tomato can caused Ben Affleck to become George Clooney.

The time mechanics were also pretty neat, like how a new future creates a new past.

I kinda like Barry a lot. He’s wicked awkward but it’s funny to watch.

Younger Barry too! He was such an airhead in the beginning that I was shocked to find out he was the guy that our Barry kept seeing when he time travelled.

I found Keaton’s Batman entertaining too. But the whole time Keaton didn’t really seem like he was trying to act. He just looked happy to be Batman again, which I can’t blame him for. On that note, I wish Bale’s Batman made a cameo somehow.

I was underwhelmed with the Zod plot. I was ready to watch him totally kick Flash’s ass. I didn’t mind Kara, but again she was a bit underwhelming too.

I got excited when Zod mentioned discovering Clark in his pod somewhere in space. I was like “Oh shit, did they take him in and train him to fight for them?” Seeing an evil Superman would’ve been crazy, but nah, they just killed him instead. Lame-os.

Effects / CGI

Oh man, I did not enjoy some of the choices made here.

First of all, the deep fake cameos. And also, deepfaking people like Adam West and all, who are dead, is a little odd. However Nicholas Cage showing up was very funny.

Then there was the CGI in the Speedverse (?? correct me if that’s the wrong name). It was video-game level. I felt like I was watching a skyrim-inspired acid trip.

Even outside of speedverse, the quality was really spotty.

Action

Oh my god, it’s so refreshing when there’s even the tiniest ounce of creativity in fight scenes (Looking at you, MCU).

Diving deeper into Barry’s powers was cool and seeing him fight with (and then against) himself was neat!

Then there was also pretty standard Batman stuff that I’m a sucker for

NEEDED a better Kara v. Zod fight. I wanted lasers. I wanted them to go to space. ANYTHING

Overall Emotional Reaction

Both Barrys hit hard a few times. The desperation to fix everything. Having to let go of their mom and accept their fate(s?). The scene when he said goodbye to her for the last time was pretty sad.

The themes were simple: accept your past; pain makes us who we are; etc etc. But there’s nothing really wrong with that.

The jokes landed! I laughed with, not at, most things

…Okay, I did laugh out loud at some things, like the deepfakes and when the Barrys phased for the first time.

But yeah, it was really enjoyable to watch. The runtime wasn’t an issue at all. Dull moments were rare (though I didn’t give a single shit about Barry’s dating life at all)

Final Score:

Characters: 7/10

Plot: 7/10

CGI: 4/10

Action: 7/10

6.3 / 10

If I had to rank: above Black Adam, below Wonder Woman

but seriously can they just recast flash already. I wish ezra miller all the best on rehabbing themselves, and they really do a great job with the character, but it’s like they’re trying to get a jail sentence with everything they’ve done
