#p4#p4g#persona 4#persona 4 golden#hanamura yosuke#yosuke hanamura#so its canon then that yosuke tends to forget to take of himself when he gets busy/stressed/etc then :)#yosuke's already a lanky ass like my guy stop making people worry about you!!!#also i like juxtaposing this against his group cafe date like of wanting to date someone he can look after because its both#bro you cant even take care of yourself#but also yosuke understanding himself enough that to be cared for is to be loved#anyway this is why you should always always have lunch with yosuke and feed him thanks for coming to my ted talk#OK BUT I also love that it's something that yu noticed about yosuke too because its so closely related to how he does. you know.#feed his friends food as a metaphor for love and all that and how yosuke hasnt had much attention (from him) lately#ok jk I'll stop being delulu but also really.#i feel a lot of Feelings about how yosuke and chie are the later members to awaken their 3rd tier#for meta reasons obviously it's also the fact that after maxing out yosuke's slink there arent as many opportunities to hang out#and there are so many good fics of that i slurp it all up#but for yosuke to point it out makes me so. SO.#anyway one final note is also yes i commented about how yosuke wasnt really doing a great job looking after himself but#i also think about his later comment that when people are relying on him it makes him want to do his best for others#and how he says he will always be there for his partner#and it makes me interpret all of that as yosuke being very roundabout in saying that he wants the two of them to look after each other#he's good with his queue

I have a request for all characters of Kings of Paradise please. The guys trying to figure out if they should play the role of step father for MC's kid from her previous marriage, but are scared to overstep.
You know what, anon? I love you. I have a soft spot for family fics and headcanons. Give me all kind of requests about kids, family, marriage. Especially about kids from another marriage. Thank you. Hope you'll enjoy it. ❤️
King of Paradise boys as step-dads (Headcanons)
Taki Kozaki
When he found out that MC had a child, he was reluctant to try to get her back.
No, not because he didn't like kids or didn't want to assume the responsibility. The reason was that he hadn't enough confidence in himself that he could be a good example for a little human who is still developing.
He didn't have the best relationship with his father. So how could he know what was wrong and what was right?
Though, in the end, he understood that he loved MC too much to lose her again.
So, he started to read all the books he could find about parenting.
His problem was that he didn't know how to bring this question in front of MC and ask her how to act.
It was MC who started to talk to him about the kid and take his opinions and advice into consideration.
It blew his mind that he was seen as a parental figure.
Though, out of all the boys, he was the slowest in winning the child over.
The kid was afraid of him for a while. They couldn't trust him or go to him for advice, not knowing how Taki would react.
Also, the fact that their biological dad was always absent from their life didn't help them.
The first and most important step was taken when MC had to go somewhere and asked Taki to take care of the kid.
He brought them to his work, showed how everything worked, played with them, went to eat something they wanted to.
That day their relationship started to go stronger and stronger.
Though, he was still afraid to have important discussions or tell the kid when they made a mistake.
MC was always trying to reassure Taki that everything was alright and the kid wouldn't love him less if he was a little bit stricter.
Once, he was called from school to come and talk with the teacher.
Inside of his head and heart were hurricanes. He hoped that the kid wasn't injured. And he was touched by the fact that he was seen as a dad by people around him.
When the teacher started to tell him what bad behavior his kid had that day, he stopped them and told them that he wanted to listen to the child's version.
It's needless to say that the kid was pleased that their opinion mattered.
A discussion that he had with the child without previously telling MC about it, was the kid's relationship with their biological dad.
Taki wanted them to have the choice to continue to interact if that was what the kid wanted. He even offered to bring them himself to their dad's place.
When the kid called Taki 'dad' for the first time, Taki was shining with happiness for an entire month. He couldn't get enough of this.
One thing that he adored too was seeing Sidney playing with the kid. He was jealous that it was easier for her to become their friend than it was for him.
Yosuke Sagara
Yosuke is a kid himself, so he hadn't ever thought about having children.
At first, he was thinking a lot about how to convince his clients to date someone who had a kid from a previous marriage.
He was spending his time with them, while MC had to go on dates with his clients.
Unexpectedly, he liked it.
The bond that formed between them helped him find the answer to the problem he was thinking about.
The kid was such a wonderful little human that it was impossible to not fall in love with them.
He insisted on spending time together even if MC apologized for the discomfort the kid could create for him.
They were always messing around when he had some spare time.
When Yosuke and MC started to date, the kid was teasing them for being so cheesy with each other.
Though, they once thanked Yosuke for being near them so often.
It touched Yosuke's soft heart. He then understood that he would be ready to do everything for the little one.
He was always ready to explain everything to the kid. If he didn't know anything, they were looking up the answer on the internet.
Also, Yosuke was the one who gave the kid sexual education.
Though, he couldn't talk about something more important. He couldn't scold them. He couldn't tell their mom if anything bad happened at school when he was the first to know.
He was buying all kinds of gifts for them till the moment MC had to ask him to stop this.
MC and Yosuke had a long talk about the bad part of winning the kid over by spoiling them.
So, instead of buying everything he thought the kid would like, he invested money in the kid's hobby.
He would pay for any courses, sports, and extracurricular activities the child would be interested in.
Yosuke didn't ever think that the kid would call him dad. But when this happened, tears of happiness appeared in his eyes.
Shun Randoh
From the first day the kid appeared in his house, he started to talk to them and won them over.
When MC started to go with him to work, he was the one to suggest bringing the kid too.
He was as strict with the staff as ever. Though, he was soft and caring towards the kid, asking them what they needed, what they wanted to know, and so on.
Even before they started dating, the kid wanted him to be their dad.
So, when they told the kid the big news, the kid started to call him dad.
Shun was the one who insisted on going to school regularly and found out how the child was.
At first, it was hard for him to accept the slightest thought about letting the kid meet with their biological father.
Though, if the little one wanted this, he couldn't stop them.
Because of the annoying tabloids, the public found out pretty fast that Shun had a child.
That was the first serious conversation he had with them. He explained why people were doing something like this, what popularity was, the importance of mental health, and how the stress could mess with their heads.
After this conversation, the kid understood that they would always go to Shun for advice.
Though, Shun couldn't bring himself to tell them if they were doing something wrong.
It was the kid who told him that they wouldn't hate him if he scolded them. They wanted to hear his honest opinion.
It took Shun a lot of time till he learned to say 'No' to them.
He just loved too much to see a happy smile on the child's face and feel their arms hugging him.
Kiyohito Shirakami
Out of all the Paradise boys, he would be the fastest to form a bond with the kid.
Somehow, even if he wasn't smiling more than usual or trying to win them over, the child adored him.
He didn't have anything against spending some time with them.
Kiyohito even suggested bringing them with him while he went abroad.
Because he is younger than MC, the kid saw him more like an older brother than a father.
So, MC and Kiyohito had to explain to them the kind of relationship they had.
The one who was letting out teasing remarks about this was Kiyohito's sister.
He tried a few times to tell the kid if they were making a mistake, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
He felt that it was out of his jurisdiction to say anything like this to them.
Though, one thing that he wasn't afraid to say were compliments. He tried everything to boost the kid's confidence.
He thought that the child already saw too much filth in their short life.
It was MC who taught him how to set boundaries and not damage the kid.
Understanding how it worked, he tried to do it from time to time.
But it was impossible to foresee every possible situation when Kiyohito had to tell 'No' to the child and teach him a better alternative.
Every time he was called from school, or when the child did something wrong while his mom was away, he tried to find first what the kid themself thought about the situation and what solution they could come with.
That was when the kid started to see in him a parental figure rather than a sibling.
From time to time, they were asking Kiyohito to continue to take such good care of their mother and to be pampered by him.
Kiyohito was the first one to tell the kid that he loved them.
Though, the kid broke the record and told him about their feelings as often as they could.

lunch (yosuke x introverted! gn! reader)
a/n: damn, i’m really out here with ANOTHER yosuke fic, aren’t i? not that i hate it, i have some fun writing for him! but i still can’t get over that one anon calling me a “subconscious yosuke kin” (to whoever sent me that, thanks LMAO). now, a bit off topic, i really wanna try to write for the investigation team girls as well, but i’m having a bit difficulty. so please note that it’s not like i hate the girls (if anything, they’re cool! i especially love naoto. i may or may not have a crush on her). it might take awhile for me to put out another fanfic for one of them that i actually like.
Tumblr media
reader type: gender neutral
reader specification(s): reader is an introvert (**)
genre(s): fluff
trigger warning(s): none
summary: yosuke noticed that you haven’t made the effort to make friends, let alone talk to at least one person, since the day you transferred to his class. he decided he would change that and invite you to lunch.
word count: 1.6k words
(**) i know i could’ve written this in the a/n above, but i felt like i had to point it this right BEFORE the drabble starts. for some people, the reader might not sound like an introvert. i understand. however, being an introvert myself, i did base the reader a little bit off of me and how i act around new people talking to me.

Yosuke knew that sometimes it would be considered rude (and creepy) to stare at a person for an extended period.
But was that enough to stop him from staring at you, though? No.
Whenever he got a chance during class, Yosuke would gaze his brown eyes upon you. Ninety-nine percent of the time, you would be sitting alone at your desk and not paying attention to anyone around you. And either you would be reading a book or going on your phone. You were always so focused, as well. Yosuke swore the whole class could be extremely high on drugs, and you would pay no mind to it whatsoever.
It had only been a few days since you had transferred to his class, but as far as he knew, you still had not made any friends. Although, it did look like you did not care about it. He had never seen you trying to talk to one person in class before, either.
Yosuke knew himself as a bit of an extravert who has no problem making friends most of the time. So if anything, he expected himself to have gone up to you and at least introduced himself. But no, instead, all he has been doing was staring at you. Yosuke was conflicted on whether to talk to you or leave you alone. For all he knew, you probably did not like socializing with anyone.
At the moment you looked up to make eye contact, Yosuke immediately turned around in his seat. Oh God, he could only hope he did not look awkward or creepy doing that. The last thing he wanted was for a new classmate to have a negative impression on him.
Okay, he thought to himself. Maybe I can talk to the new student during lunch later. Maybe I could even invite them to eat with me! Well, unless they don’t want to. I mean, I hope they accept my offer.
-
Holy crap, I did it! Yosuke felt like he was going stiff for the billionth time. He was currently sitting next to you on the rooftop after you had (surprisingly) accepted his invitation. Although, there was a bit of awkwardness in the air during this time. Yosuke felt too awkward to start eating as he could not help but steal a few more glances at you. Meanwhile, you were eating your lunch in silence while you looked off in the distance.
You gotta say at least one thing to (L/N), you know.
“So, um, what do you think about Yasogami High so far? Is it alright?” Well, it was a bit of an unusual question, but Yosuke figured that he would start with that. “Or, what about Inaba?”
You hummed, thinking of how to answer as you chewed your food. “It’s alright. I mean, I haven’t gotten the chance to explore Inaba yet after moving in, so I can’t say how I feel about it so far.”
Yosuke nodded in understanding. As much as he enjoyed living in Inaba, it was not comparable to big cities in Japan like Tokyo and Osaka.
And now that he thought about it, today was also the first time he got to hear your voice again. The last time Yosuke heard you talk was when you had to introduce yourself in front of your new classmates. Since then, you remained quiet amongst the class.
But then again, it already sent strange beatings to his heart for no reason.
“Is there a reason why you moved here?”
“Oh, one of my guardians just got a new job in Inaba, so we had to relocate so they could be closer,” you explained. “Well, actually, they also got another job offer in Kyoto, but they wanted to settle with the one here in Inaba. So I was just like, ‘Alright,’”
For some reason, this intrigued Yosuke. “Interesting,” he commented as he took a bite of his food. “So I assume your family is the quiet type, right?”
“Not exactly,” you shrugged. “I mean, I got some extraverted family members. But for a few months, my family began thinking maybe moving somewhere quieter would be a nice change. Not that they hated the city or anything, you know?”
“No worries, I get it,” Yosuke smiled at you. “Inaba might not be a big and interesting place, but you learn to like it over time,”
But at this moment, Yosuke felt a weird feeling in him when you chuckled, “Yeah, hopefully, I will,” you noted.
Yosuke had no idea why he suddenly felt a bold of confidence. Just a moment ago, he was hesitant to invite you up to the rooftop for lunch! But he figured he would go through with it.
“If you want, I could show you around Inaba during the weekend! I can even bring along my friends, who are all not at school at the moment.”
You pondered for a bit before you smiled. “That would be nice. I’ll consider it.” Then you tilted your head “And your friends are absent? Like, all of them?”
Yosuke chuckled sheepishly. “Yeah, literally all of them. All I know is that Yukiko is on vacation with her family, Chie got sick yesterday, and Yu lives in Tokyo. Not sure about Rise, Kanji, and Naoto. So I’m pretty much alone for the day.”
Wait, he just caught himself. “Oh. Well, I guess ‘alone’ would be the wrong word now that I’m hanging out with you. Haha, oops!” he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
The awkwardness was rubbing off on Yosuke, and he hated it. Why can he not ever be awesome? He was almost glad when you spoke up. Although, he was scared of your answer.
“You’re all good,” you smiled as you closed your bento box and put it aside. “I mean, yeah. It honestly sucks when almost all your friends are absent from school. For me, I just sit in class and at lunch alone like, ‘This sucks. Why did you guys have to leave me?!’
“It’s kinda weird. Being an introvert, you would think I love lonely and having little to no friends. But no, I still need my small group of friends with me to make it through the school day, or else it will get boring as hell.”
Yosuke smiled. “Same here! My friends are great, even though sometimes they can be a pain in the ass. I can feel lonely when I’m not with them for long periods. It was why I wanted to invite you to eat lunch with me. And I also wanted to get a chance to get to know you after you arrived here a few days ago.
“Although, I gotta be honest. I was a bit worried that you would decline me. I dunno. I assumed you were the type of person who hated it when someone tries to talk to you. I-Is that a bit weird?”
Why are you asking if it's weird? OF COURSE, IT IS!
Stop making this more awkward for yourself! For all you know, you’re probably making (L/N) uncomfortable!!
OR HOW ABOUT YOU STOP OVERREACTING?!
“Hanamura, it’s fine. Not weird at all!” you let out a light laugh. “Listen, it’s not necessarily a thing where I loathe people talking to me. But only if if they come up to me first. Other than that, I would much rather be quiet. If I’m with my close friends, then I can be a bit more talkative.
“But I mean, it’s so funny,” you continued, smiling. “My guardians say I’m such an extravert around my close friends and cousins. I talk so much around them, yet with strangers or people I barely know, I’m dead silent. I guess if I become more comfortable around a person, I won’t be as shy.”
God damn it, Yosuke knew this might be weird to ask. But he just had to know. “So…I assume you’re slowly becoming comfortable around me? I mean, you are talking a lot!”
“I guess I am!” you said.
Well, that was one hell of a quick answer. Eh, not that he minded!
Moments passed, but before Yosuke knew it, the both of you continued to talk more. It was not as if he had been around you for the longest time, but he felt like he knew more about you. He felt proud of himself for getting you to open up to him.
And at this point, Yosuke looked up. He noticed how many of the students who were also on the rooftop were beginning to head inside.
“Well, class is starting soon. We should probably get going before we’re late,” Yosuke suggested. You nodded in agreement, and both of you stood up.
“Hey, Hanamura,” you spoke up. In turn, Yosuke turned to face you and saw a soft smile on your lips (and a blush on his cheeks! Wait, no—).
“Thanks for inviting me to lunch today, I enjoyed it a lot,” you thanked him, “And I appreciated you talking to me. You were the first person at school to have done that so far. Even though I like being alone, I still liked hanging out with someone after days of barely knowing anyone here.”
Yosuke knew this for sure. He was proud of himself for offering you the invitation. If he had not, high chances were that you would have continued being quiet, and he would have no clue about who you were. So smiling back at you, Yosuke said, “It’s no problem at all, (L/N)! I enjoyed it, too. Wait, give me just a sec.”
You tilted your head in confusion when Yosuke pulled out his phone and gave it to you. In a matter of seconds, you realized what the brown-haired boy wanted, judging by the screen showing. But still, you wanted to hear him say it.
“Put your phone number in here. And I can text you after school!”
With a soft chuckle, you did as Yosuke did. You especially loved seeing his eyes glisten with excitement after handing his phone back.
And the both of you eventually went back to your classroom, feeling bliss in the air.

In Defense of Yosuke’s Parents
I’ve seen so many posts about Yosuke having bad parents which really surprised me because I didn’t get that impression at all. I’ve been meaning to make a post in defense of his parents, but I’ve been working on a Yu analysis. After I saw @personuhh’s post I thought I’d offer an alternative perspective. I’ll be addressing some of the things they brought up first, and then I’ll get into additional evidence. I have edited this post since I originally posted it because I I wanted to elaborate and reword some things.
My Response
You’re right, Yosuke does take on way more responsibility than a part-timer should. However, I don’t think that’s his parents doing. It seems like Junes is extremely understaffed. In his social link, Yosuke says his dad was “bugging him to find helpers.” I volunteer at a small location of a large church (much like the Inaba branch of Junes), and I have been asked to find more volunteers over and over again because they’re desperate for more help. It’s a lot of work and not enough people. Additionally, both Yu and Chie come in to help due to the lack of staff. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mrs. Hanamura helped out too as Teddie’s under the impression that Yosuke’s parents are always together (which I’ll talk about later).
On top of that, Yosuke mentions part-timers ditching work and slacking off. When an employee doesn’t show up, Yosuke (and Teddie) are often called in because their managers know they’ll show up. People who are reliable are given more responsibility, period. It sucks, but if someone needs help they aren’t going to ask someone who they don’t see as dependable. I volunteer at church every week, and I have been asked countless times if that’s okay because they don’t want to overwork me. Every time I say I don’t mind, and I assume Yosuke would have the same reaction if asked. Not only is it Yosuke’s natural instinct to help people, but he was kind of a pushover before the events of (and at the start of) Persona 4. In his third awakening, Yosuke says he was overworked and taken for granted. That’s not okay, and it’s a huge problem, but Mr. Hanamura isn't the cause of that. Mr. Hanamura is the general manager; his job isn’t to create the part-timer’s schedules.
It’s true that Yosuke tries to work out the problems of other employees and listens to their complaints. There is no indication that Yosuke was told to do this, and I don’t know why he would be. In his social link, there are two girls who act as if he has more power than he does. They demand a raise, ask him to give them the day off, and assume he has knowledge about another employee’s schedule. Yosuke says he doesn't have the power to help them, and in a manga page he says “I may be the manager’s son, but I’m still just an employee.” Yosuke is doing much more than the average part-timer, but he isn’t being given the responsibilities of a manager.
As for the Junes concert, Mr. Hanamura did not tell Yosuke he was going to be fired. Yosuke came to that conclusion himself. Mr. Hanumura did not ask Yosuke to find a solution or ask Rise for help. Yosuke only asked Rise for help because he was scared of moving again. I understand how the phrase “awfully nice for some reason” could come across as odd, but I don’t think he meant his dad isn’t usually nice. In the Persona 4 Manga that scene is translated as “My Dad’s been extra nice to me” meaning his dad is nice, he’s just being extra nice, and I’m not surprised. Yosuke was extremely unhappy when he moved to Inaba. Despite trying to hide his feelings, you can see in The Magician that he didn’t do a very good job of it. And now that Yosuke is finally happy, they might be forced to move again. Of course, Mr. Hanamura would feel guilty. Oftentimes, when people feel guilty, they start acting nicer - unnaturally so - to make themselves feel better. Chie (who is already very kind) even does it after she and Yukiko spend Yosuke’s money on clothes for Teddie. Yosuke notices the shift in her attitude and tells her that he’s worried. It’s the same reaction he had toward his dad’s behavior.
Tumblr media
The only reason I bring up Chie is to show an in-game example of someone being overly nice due to guilt. What Chie did was wrong, that’s why she feels guilty. The reason Mr. Hanamura would feel guilty is his job may have to move his entire family again. The cause of their guilt is different, but they are responding the same way.
I don’t think Mrs. Hanamura not wanting her son to own porn is unreasonable. My mom doesn’t like magic, so I wasn’t allowed to read or watch Harry Potter growing up. Similarly, a friend of mine wasn’t allowed to watch iCarly. As for Mrs. Hanamura burning Yosuke’s porn in Arena, that’s the third time (that we know of) that she’s seen his porn. I assume she’s told him she doesn’t want him looking at pornography, but he continues to do so anyway. Burning his magazines may seem dramatic, but she was likely just frustrated that he kept disobeying her.
I don’t think Yosuke’s parents are the reason why Yosuke wants to be seen as manly. I haven’t seen anything that implies that. I think Yosuke’s desperation to be seen as a man comes from Japanese society and his fears regarding his sexuality.
Tumblr media
Mr. Hanamura came up with this slogan because they were selling jinbei's which are traditionally worn by men. It’s a play on words. This isn’t the first time Mr. Hanamura has come up with a cringey slogan.
Tumblr media
It seems Mr. Hanamura has that stereotypically “dad humor” which is typically associated with positive father figures (it’s not always). Yosuke saying his dad is still saying the “MANsoon” slogan gave me reminds of kids being like “Dad, that’s a bad joke, stop”, but the dad continuing to make his bad jokes regardless. It’s very Disney Channel and sit-com like.
I don’t remember Teddie saying he watches violent war movies with Mr. Hanamura, but I don’t see how that connects to the idea of Mr. Hanamura pushing Yosuke to be a “more masculine, traditional, unshakable, unemotional man.” The idea that only those types of men watch war movies is the type of thinking Kanji’s and Naoto’s shadows were trying to address. I don’t think Mr. Hanamura cares about being that type of stereotypical/traditional man because of his relationship with Teddie. Teddie is not very masculine (he even says so in Persona Q, screenshot will be later), and he isn’t hiding it.
Tumblr media
This exchange is from Kanji’s Persona 4 Club Profile. Teddie went to the store to buy female clothing, and he asked Kanji to make him a dress (the one from the cross dressing pageant). He already owned his “Alice dress” before the cross dressing competition, and I assume he’s worn it. In Arena, you can see the dress is hung out in the open in their bedroom. He also wears hair clips.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not “masculine behavior” yet the Hanamuras don’t seem to have a problem with it. If anything, I’d say they’re pretty open-minded. If they disliked that way Teddie behaved, Teddie would change himself to fit the way they want him to be. I mean, the kid literally grew two new bodies in effort to get people to like him. Due to Teddie’s low self-esteem and need to be loved, he takes any sort of criticism to heart and does his best to act the way others want him too. In Persona Q, Yukari says he’d be cute if he was quiet, so Teddie stops talking.
Tumblr media
In Persona Q, Teddie says he’s realized that to steal hearts he needs to be manly. He gets this realization from Koromaru. He did not think this prior.
Tumblr media
Teddie saying Koromaru gave him this realization means the Hanmuras never said anything to him about his less masculine behavior.
As for the song lyrics you posted, I don’t really think that means anything. Yeah, people often relate to the music they listen to, but they don’t have to relate to every lyric or even song. My favorite artist is Taylor Swift, but I don’t really like romance. I don’t relate to most of her songs, but I still jam out to them. I could be super wrong about the song thing though because I’m not a huge music person.
My Own Additional Analysis (with some elements of response)
In this section I’m going to talk about Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura’s character and personality, their relationship with each other, Teddie, and Yosuke.
Let’s start off by talking about their personality. They seem to be very carefree people. Yosuke has less than average grades. In the Persona 4 Animation, he didn’t even show up to one of the exam days. Academics is extremely important in Japanese society, yet his parents don’t seem to be pushing him to get better grades. Considering how carefree Yosuke can be, it makes sense that he may have gotten that trait from his parents.
Yosuke’s family is pretty wealthy. It’s mentioned more than once. They also live in a pretty big house (you can see it in The Magician), Yosuke’s cell phone seems to be a newer model, and he has a large, flatscreen TV in his bedroom which wouldn’t be very common when the game took place. Despite this, Yosuke works for his own money. He complains about being broke and needing save up. I think the reason why Yosuke has a job despite being well-off is because his parents want him to have work experience and grow up to be a hardworking person, so he can succeed in life. It makes me think that hardwork is important to them.
Tumblr media
Due to this conversation, I think Mr. Hanamura is a very honest man. Yosuke says he was surprised his dad was against selling gas masks, likely because from a business standpoint, that’s a really big missed opportunity. I think it’s also worth noting that ATLUS talks a lot about how people naturally fit into the masses, including the main characters. That’s why it’s surprising that his father is going against the masses. Although he’s losing money and has faced many hardships running Junes, Mr. Hanamura refused to do something that was against his moral compass.
In Persona 4 Drama CD #1, Junes is closing down half of the electronics section due to a lack of sales. Despite this taking place in March, Teddie panics and hopes to sell a TV set in a month in exchange for keeping the TV they enter the TV World through where it is.
Tumblr media
Yosuke isn’t afraid to ask his dad two huge favors with a not very good reason (side note: Yosuke had to lie because the truth is that’s the TV he and his friends used to go into the TV world and fight shadows). Despite Yosuke’s best efforts, his father says no. He doesn’t really have any choice but to close part of the electronics floor. Junes is losing money by keeping it open. I think Mr. Hanamura gave him the vouchers because that’s the only other way he can help. Teddie made a deal that if he sells one TV set by the end of the month, they’ll keep the TV that leads to the TV world. He’s trying to advertise the TV set by promising other surprise items coming with it. These Junes vouchers are part of those surprise items.
It’s no secret that many of the shopping district families despise Junes and the Hanamuras. Many horrible things have been said about their family, yet Junes still teams up with the shopping district in the YasoInaba Case File to help keep them afloat. Whether or not this was Mr. Hanamura’s idea, he’s the one who has to approve it, and he does. Despite being treated horribly by them, he still wants to help the shopping district. Junes teaming up with shopping district might be a good business move, but they didn’t really need to do that. The problem is that Junes is taking away the shopping district’s business. Junes doesn’t need to team up with the shopping district to do well. The two of the teaming up benefits the shopping district way more than Junes. It doesn’t do much for Junes other than the shopping district maybe not hating them. At the end of the day, the shopping district families would still shop at the shopping district to keep their businesses afloat, so Junes isn’t getting a lot more business.
When Teddie came to the real world, Yosuke offered to take Teddie home with no hesitation. He didn’t think it would be a problem with his parents or show any concern about how he would convince them. I think this goes along with them being pretty carefree as well as showing that they’re kind and generous people. Not everyone is willing to take others in like that. Yosuke’s also comfortable with asking his parents such a huge favor.
Teddie talks about Yosuke’s parents in a really positive light, and I would say they treat him like their own son. For example, on January second Teddie says, “I got New Year’s gifts! Yosuke’s mom and dad gave them to me!” (edit: Someone said “notice how Yosuke doesn’t say the same thing.” He doesn’t need to. It’s Japense culture to give younger family members gifts for new Year’s. Yosuke saying something would be the equivalent of, “omg my parents gave me a birthday present!!” It would have been weirder if he did say something then. Teddie is excited because because this is his first New Year’s. He’s never experienced this before. Also, Yosuke did get New Year’s money. He talks about saving it on 1/10 when walking to school).
I think I remember Teddie saying he watches movies with Mrs. Hanamura, but I have no idea where he says that. There’s a 50/50 chance I made that up and convinced myself it was canon, so don’t take my word on that one.
Teddie breaks A LOT of rules at Junes. He steals topsicles, rode a handi mover through the store, slept on both a display bed and the floor of electronics department, been yelled at for eating samples, been chased by store security, and Yosuke had to monitor Teddie during his late night shift because they didn’t trust him to work alone. Teddie’s a terrible employee, yet he hasn’t been fired. I think the reason for this is he’s basically the manager’s son. I do want to say that just because they consider Teddie as their own child doesn’t mean they treat Yosuke as anything less. I haven’t seen a single thing that has implied that there is favoritism going on.
Yosuke and Teddie act a lot like brothers (Naoki even suspects that they're related), and Yosuke’s parents seem to treat Teddie like their own son. He even wears their family crest in offical art. I looks like ATLUS wnted the four of them to be a family. And If that’s the case, it wouldn’t make any sense for Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura to be bad parents.
Additionally, if Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura treated Yosuke badly, and Teddie noticed, I think Teddie would say something.
Tumblr media
The second Yukari said something slightly mean about Yosuke, Teddie defended him. He doesn’t like when other people say mean things about Yosuke. Not to mention conflict really stresses him out. If Yosuke’s parents treated him badly, I there’s a chance Teddie might see the problem.
I think it’s also worth noting that Yosuke’s parents have a really healthy marriage.
Tumblr media
This quote implies that they’re rarely apart and get along really well. A happy marriage doesn’t automatically equal a healthy household or good parents, but it really increases the likelihood.
Tumblr media
For context, Yosuke is talking about Teddie in this picture. I’m not from Japan, so I don’t know if most families there eat breakfast together, but my family - despite being very close - does not. We all eat and start our day at different times. In my mind, eating breakfast together is a very domestic thing to do. Even the phrase “Hanamura family breakfast” screams domestic to me.
Tumblr media
This conversation gives me the sense that Mr. Hanamura has a great deal of trust and respect for Yosuke. I mean, I don’t think he would accept Yosuke’s idea if he didn’t. Adding a kid’s menu would be pretty exspensive. Not only do they have to print the kid’s menu, but they have to design them, create new menu items, and depedning on what’s on the menu buy more food or ingredients. That adds up, and if it isn’t successful then they’ll lose money. Mr. Hanamura has to approve that idea, and he’s putting in trust that it’s going to be successful. Also, Yosuke is comfortable enough to “push really hard” for his idea.
All in all, it is my personal opinion that the Hanamurs are a really close family. It would make sense for ATLUS to go in that direction to create a contrast to the Narukami’s, after all. That being said, neither headcanon is wrong. It just comes down to how we interpret the very little information we’re given.

okay so awhile ago you posted something about Yosuke (crazy, right?) and in the tags I believe you mentioned something about how you don’t like Yosukes parents? Could you elaborate? bc I have not stopped thinking about it since you mentioned it (sorry this is so vague my memory is horrid skjdjfjgj)
OYSUEJGHHBKEJHDSGVDH oh my god okay SO. At first I just got ~vibes~ from him... like, I couldn’t quite pin down what made me think he had abusive parents, because obviously he never says anything to indicate it explicitly, but then I started noticing... small things.
I don’t want to say outright that I think they’re abusive (physically or verbally) and I also don’t think that Yosuke hates them, or necessarily even sees anything wrong with how they treat him, but I do think that their behavior has severely impacted Yosuke and led to a lot of the negative traits he displays.
To me, the most telling example is this conversation where he talks about Teddie being praised by his parents for being “thoughtful” very pointedly in front of him. It seems to be a reoccurring thing where they compare him to other people (primarily Teddie) and make him feel inferior. Yosuke’s a bit of a pushover, and frequently gets taken advantage of monetarily, and in this case he’s caved and lent Teddie a significant chunk of his savings for their trip to Tatsumi Port Island... only for him to spend it on presents to suck up to Yosuke’s parents which makes Yosuke look unthoughtful. Yosuke clearly sees it that way, even if Teddie hadn’t intentionally planned it out from the start as such (he calls Teddie “surprisingly shrewd”).
Tumblr media
Yosuke gets told off either because a) he didn’t want to fight back/argue, and instead just took a passive stance instead of telling his parents that he was the one to lend Teddie the money in the first place, and thus didn’t have any left to buy them gifts, or b) his parents think so little of him that they don’t believe him at all. He specifically says he doubts his parents understand, which makes me think that he did try to explain the situation.
There are also several instances of a large Junes event being Yosuke’s responsibility, or at least of him thinking that he has to scramble to make things work, like the Junes concert, where he says he’ll have to move away if it doesn’t pan out; maybe this is his own thinking, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was something his dad said to scare him into helping, especially considering he MUST know that Yosuke is friends with Rise, or the time during the summer where he calls Yu and begs him to help out. Yosuke isn’t a manager, but he’s still got all the responsibilities of one, and even tries his best to work out other employees’ problems as well (look at his SL).
The Junes concert in particular really sent up some red flags for me, especially because Yosuke says this.
Tumblr media
“Awfully nice for some reason”?
Yosuke’s got terrible self-esteem, there are countless times where he’s shown to be overwhelmed and embarrassed by completely genuine praise from his friends. In one of the drama CDs he mentions that he intentionally doesn’t try his best in school because he doesn’t want to disappoint himself by doing poorly while also knowing that he gave his all. It really makes me think that his parents just have an abysmally low opinion of him, and he’s adopted that same view of himself.
There’s also several scenes where he talks about his parents finding his porn (or Teddie showing it to them) and in his SL he says his mom “read the title out loud to [his] family” which on top of obviously indicating his family is pretty conservative about that kind of thing, also means he’s had to learn to be secretive with them to some extent. In Arena, Yosuke’s mother goes as far as burning the porn Teddie finds. Even if it's meant to be humorous, Yosuke's property is still being destroyed.
Now these next few things are more... abstract and can definitely be argued, but personally I still find them important to point out when discussing the topic.
Yosuke obviously struggles with toxic masculinity, and similarly to Kanji, feels like he needs to be the ideal, strong man that protects the weak, etc. Even without looking at specific dialogue, you can tell that Yosuke’s been raised to think he needs to be a “real” man, that displaying more “feminine” behaviors is a sign of weakness; because that isn’t just subtextual, it’s something he very visibly displays, it’s part of his arc. He can’t mourn and cry, he has to get revenge (because he couldn’t protect Saki at the time and he watched helplessly as she died, it makes it his fault), he says hugs are for girls (a common sentiment, but he had to learn it from somewhere), and any time he slips up and reveals his actual feelings, he has to overcompensate, let everyone know that he’s just your average teenage boy who’s definitely interested in women. Yosuke’s not the most masculine guy, he likes fashion and cares about his appearance (the bar is so low) and I’d bet that if he were given space to explore his interests without any expectations, he might actually find he’s into stuff that goes against what he’s been taught. He admits to liking crossdressing, then walks it back; not because he’s ashamed of it (on the contrary, once he realizes people found him cute, he openly brags about it), but because he thinks he SHOULD be ashamed of it.
It’s why he feels so threatened by Kanji, who completely takes him by surprise when he realizes his outer appearance and interests don’t match up. Now Yosuke’s got to compete with Kanji over who’s the manliest, show that he’s not like Kanji, because Kanji’s already accepted that side of himself, and it totally goes against everything Yosuke’s been taught to think is “normal”.
So then we look at lines like this.
Tumblr media
On its own it’s nothing special, but it’s not just the slogan itself, it’s the way that Yosuke specifically says that his dad is still saying it. Combining this with what I mentioned previously about Yosuke’s behavior, and a few other tidbits, like Teddie mentioning that he watches violent war movies with Yosuke’s dad, it definitely makes me think he’s the type of guy who’d try and push Yosuke into being more masculine, being a traditional, unshakable, unemotional man.
Lastly, there’s the recently identified album on Yosuke’s shelf in arena, and what do you know, one of the songs on it (The Chain, by Mr. Big) has these lyrics...
Tumblr media
In my mind, I see Yosuke’s mother as an incredibly controlling, strict woman who expects her son to be utterly perfect, and even when he’s good, it’s never good enough. Yosuke’s father is busy with Junes, and while he isn’t around the house too often, Yosuke sees him at work quite a bit, large and in-charge, not allowing anyone to see weakness, he leans on his son because he can’t bring himself to ask for help. Yosuke’s left to pick up the slack, and he’s taught by example that relying on others is cowardly, that being intimidating gets you further than being “nice”. Even though Yosuke obviously goes against this, he can't fully commit for fear of standing out and disappointing his parents, and that makes him passive; he ends up being a pushover, and neither of his parents are happy about that. He’s a “disappointment” to them, it’s one of his defining traits that everyone loves to bring up. It's something that's shown to really get under his skin, but he can never do much more than get angry, because he truly thinks he is a disappointment, he doesn't think highly of himself, even if he protests.
Maybe I’m reading into all of these things a little too much, but... I don’t know, I’ve said it before, but I just don’t see how half of Yosuke’s personality would have been shaped by anything other than his parents being Not Great.

i keep thinking of it and the way the end of the game has teddie giving the closing statement of everyone’s heart being connected and addressing yu’s departure is really... not something that makes sense.
teddie has rare moments of maturity, but his bond with yu has never been as deep as it could be. it would take much more time to mature as it’s one of the more shallow links. and there’s nothing wrong with that! it just means they need more time for it grow and connect on a deeper level. i find this to be due in part of teddie’s childish personality. yu treats teddie as he would a child, because acts like he is a child. he has no concept of the things he says. he only flirts with girls because he just wants attention. the amount atlus does with this theme is pretty grating on the nerves and in pq that was pretty much teddie’s entire character. the japanese sub and dialect highlights he doesn’t know at all the things he’s talking about, and that’s something most english speakers may not pick up right away. ( a lot of this fandom still can’t see beyond the surface of the other characters but that’s an entirely other rant to get into. ) teddie is much more than just what atlus shoves him into, but it’s not often that we get to see how he has insight on certain things. i really believe he doesn’t understand the things he says. like scoring or thinking the strip club were the stripes on a zebra. his mindset is very innocent, someone just a little older than nanako’s childish aspects. i’d say he’s 10-14 on the maturity scale because even his deepest scenes, still hold the weight of a child’s understanding.
i find yu to be very closed off around him as well. there’s moments where teddie looks up to yu for guidance and understanding. but it’s never a heavy conversation like where the themes like nanako in the hospital and wondering if she’ll recover could have been expanded if it were another. i also would never place my trust in TEDDIE of all people to take care of yu while he was sick. his lack of understanding of illnesses, health, people, and he’s someone who only sees the surface of what yu’s character tries to present himself him as: perfect, happy, without carrying a burden or the weight of the trauma threatening to consume him. yu is so sick at new years and his fever didn’t break until the last day. realistically, he should have been hospitalized. realistically, teddie would have killed him because he wouldn’t know what to do. he’s also shown to be impressionable and echoing what others have said without being aware of the meaning of those words. i’d hope this could be something his character works out over time and realizes wrong from right because it’s pretty insensitive. kanji and yosuke have both shown to be effected by what he says and does in the nighttime conversations with yu. no one really corrects him for what he does either.
but if i can reiterate, the ending statement of the game feels so out of place with teddie. i know i express enough my love for yosuke’s character and his deep bond with yu, but that’s exactly WHY it should have been YOSUKE who had the closing statement. someone who has constantly talked about how important the connections he made over the year were for him, how special yu is to give him a year he wouldn’t have had otherwise. yosuke’s been yu’s mouthpiece since his introduction, riding his bike down the road and crashing into a trashcan. teddie is NOT morgana and does not hold the weight with yu that morgana does for akira. they are entirely different characters along with their relationship with the protag. morgana knows what he’s saying when he talks about how much he wants to date ann, adding an even bigger creepier factor to how human morgana is.
teddie just doesn’t fit for that scene when yu’s strongest bond has again, been with yosuke. his heart is connected with yosuke, not just symbolically if you count my hcs. but even the in-game dialog expresses that yosuke’s bond with yu is different. he’s the bond that literally cannot be broken, irreplaceable. and i personally think it’s pretty obvious that yu plays favorites amongst his friend group.

FRET’S CHILDHOOD FRIEND MASTER POST
trigger warnings for suicide, death, drowning, missing person, child abuse, grooming / csa & more
before we begin heres some links to other posts regarding yosuke that may be touched upon in this post but not in the same amount of depth.
yosuke’s appearance & inspirations behind it
yosuke’s name & symbolism behind it
fret & his grief
we’ll start at the beginning. fret met yosuke yamasaki shortly after his parents separated when his mom had moved to a new place with fret & his two sisters. they’d moved practically on the other side of the city so fret was in a position where he’d need to make some new friends once school started. at the time fret was six & yosuke was seven & yosuke lived on the same floor of their apartment complex. so naturally as children do they came to naturally befriend each other despite not having a lot in common at the time.
believe it or not fret was actually a more quiet kid in his early childhood. not entirely a different person than he is today, but definitely more reserved. his easygoing & compassionate nature has always been the same. though originally it was harder for him to reach out to new people on his own. but over time & through yosuke’s friendship & support this would change & fret would become the outgoing & gregarious person he is today.
yosuke before everything was everything fret wanted to be. he was outgoing, he was funny, he was popular. he was a superstar baseball player with amazing grades & could expertly play the drums by age ten. he was already in talks for scholarships at various schools due to his various talents & achievements. from the outside yosuke was the perfect kid.
though there was a lot going on past that surface line. yosuke was under a lot of pressure by so many people in his life. & after a certain point it started to wear him down. by the time yosuke was 12, he started to become more muted & dim. he was no longer the bright & sunny boy fret had come to know & love. he was sullen, moody & severely depressed. this would be the yosuke that fret remembers after he’s gone. this will be the yosuke fret comes to hate.
yosuke was for the most part alone in his turmoil. his parents were emotionally unsupportive & only cared whether he was doing the best in his academic & extracurricular endeavors. the only other supportive adult figure in his life was his baseball coach who would end up grooming & abusing him while blackmailing that he’d kick him off the team if he didn’t comply. even if yosuke had a lot of friends there were few that really knew him outside of the poster child he seemed to be.
the only person who he’d had throughout everything was fret. & even then there were things even fret was in the dark about. while yosuke would come to him with his troubles, he would neglect to mention the situation he’d found himself in regarding his coach. fret would do his best to help with everything he knew. he’d tried his best to be the supportive best friend yosuke had been for him.
but in the end it wouldn’t be enough. after a certain point he no longer willingly complied to bend to his coach’s will & was immediately kicked off the team. this would be the catalyst in everything going wrong at once. he would come to be at the brunt of scrutiny & disappointment of his peers, his parents & the rest of the school faculty. everything felt hopeless & he’d come to feel like everything that had given his life value was gone. he saw no point in living anymore & on may 23rd of his fourteenth year, yosuke would jump into the shibuya river & kill himself.
through it all fret was still by yosuke’s side & had done all he could to help & support him. to the point where he was the first person who came to discover yosuke’s disappearance & subsequent death. when yosuke didn’t answer his phone after missing school, fret immediately knew something was wrong. he had come to know yosuke’s hiding spots when he wanted to be alone over the years. & ultimately he would come to the shibuya river & find yosuke’s black baseball hat ( the hat that fret currently wears on his belt at all times ) resting on the bridge. for as long as he’d known him, yosuke had never gone without the hat. so even as yosuke’s file had been labeled missing person, even when it has since remained that way due to the lack of remains found, fret knows the truth of what happened.
yosuke remains one of the most impactful people in fret’s life. he was his best friend, his first ( unconscious ) love, & his first exposure to real mental turmoil & grief. without him fret likely would have never gone as far out of his shell as he had. fret still carries that love to this day even if he doesn’t realize it. his love has been marred by betrayal, frustration & the pain of his grief. & for the last three years since yosuke’s passing fret’s come to believe he hates yosuke for doing what he did without so much as a goodbye.
yosuke’s death as we know also brought on a new age of fret’s life where he would have difficulty connecting with others & be unable to deal with heavy topics anymore. he would come to find it futile trying to help others with things so severe & dire. he would become a more artificial version of his happy go lucky self. being not entirely unlike how yosuke used to be before his struggles became too much.
eventually following the reaper’s game fret will break out of this habit & be able to be closer to what he was like prior to yosuke’s death. & while he works on grieving kanon tachibana, he begins to properly grieve yosuke as well. he comes to understand what it is he truly feels & understands both himself & his relationship to yosuke a lot better. the guilt & grief doesn’t ever really go away. especially when news breaks out of yosuke’s coach when another baseball student reports him for sexual assault & blackmail & an abundance of other students & former come forward about it. fret comes to understand yosuke’s situation in perfect clarity then & at that time has a whole new wave of grief, remorse & guilt.
but even that gets better in time. & fret gets better as well. becoming stronger & more sincere than he has ever been.

I HEARD HUSBANDS AS DADS AND CAME AS FAST AS I COULD. How would your fav persona boys be as fathers? I'm eager to know!
since you were so prompt in the ask box I pushed this to the front of the queue, it’s,,,, not bc I was excited or anything,, lmao
Shinjiro:
Hello I stand by my idea of house husband Shinji. Despite his gruff nature, he’s fantastic with kids of all ages; he’s incredibly in-tune with what the babies may want or need, especially if he’s a stay-at-home father. He’ll never admit it openly, but he just loves having a baby in his arms— while he’s doing the housework, he’s always carrying at least one of the kids, bouncing them on his hip and humming quietly. They’re all so squishy. . .
As the kids get older, Shinjiro definitely worries about them developing Personas of their own. He knows that the Dark Hour has been taken care of, but he still doesn’t have the most positive associations with Persona in general— and if his kids develop them, then that means Adventure, and he’s not sure his heart can take any more of that now that he’s got a family. But if his kids do end up with them, he just sighs in resignation and commits himself to training with them; he’s not going to let his children go into anything unprepared, ever.
Shinjiro’s a pretty low-energy man, and because of that, he adores the little moments with the kids. He adores when they all pile into his lap and start begging him for a bedtime story; he melts when they follow him through the kitchen, watching intently as he prepares dinner, clearly not understanding a word he says. He never thought he’d live to have a family, so absolutely everything that they experience together means the world to him.
Yosuke:
Unsurprisingly, Yosuke’s a bit of a mess— he didn’t put much planning into the concept of fatherhood, so he’s not the most prepared. However, he’s an adaptable man, and at least has a bit of experience with wrangling Teddie and Nanako, so that counts, right—? It takes him awhile to adjust to having kids; as much as he loves them, Yosuke doesn’t want to be a stay-at-home parent, although he doesn’t mind if that’s what you want.
Yosuke moved around a lot when he was young, and that definitely impacted him negatively. Because of that, as soon as he knows you’re expecting, he starts planning for permanence. Whether it’s in Inaba or back in the city, he looks for a place with plenty of employment opportunities, so that hopefully you never have to move for a job; he also does his best to choose a house that’s either already big enough, or one that can be upgraded easily, so that your little family doesn’t have to worry about outgrowing your home.
He’s a pretty fun dad. When the kids are babies, he loves bouncing them and swinging them around; as they get older, he definitely roughhouses, although he’s always careful. Yosuke’s kids are definitely pretty high-energy, so it’s not uncommon for you to have to keep them on leashes— but then they figure out how to unclip their little harnesses, and suddenly they’re off, with Yosuke hot on their heels. He always catches up pretty quickly, swooping them into his arms, tickling them to make ‘em laugh— but inside he’s reeling at how easily the little things learned to start scheming.
Ren:
Ren can roll with anything thrown at him, so whether you two were planning to have children or not, he adjusts incredibly quickly. He’s the type to want parenting to be fair for you both, so once it becomes clear that your children are settling into a natural routine— how long they sleep, how much they eat and when— he wants to sit down and really discuss your entire life situation once more. He doesn’t want either of you resenting the other because the kids may have preferences, or work schedules interfere with your family time— but he also doesn’t want the kids to negatively impact you, especially if you’re still working.
Admittedly, he’s not the best with babies, but of course he still puts in as much effort as he can. Not a super fan of all the cleaning that has to be done, but definitely loves holding the squishy little things in his lap and reading to them, tracing their chubby little fingers over the ridges in a picture book. It’s when the kids are a bit older that he can really shine— he’s amazing at connecting with people, so as soon as the kids can speak, he’s able to reason with them at their own level. This comes in handy during the teenage years and definitely prevents a lot of grief.
While he won’t mention it, the fact that his own parents pawned him off in his time of need struck a chord with him and continues resonating through his adulthood. Because of that, he makes it an active decision to spend as much family time together as possible, be it a cliche family game night or training his children if they develop Personas. He wants the entire family to know that, if you ever need him, he’ll be there for you forever.

Today on P5S, we’re taking a nice relaxing dip in the hot sprin--
Tumblr media
Fukuoka, Kyushu! The plan was to keep going straight through to Kyoto, but Makoto was hurting from all the driving, so we pulled over with the intention of spending the night in a proper hotel and having a good meal. Which, of course, means ramen, because we gotta try the local ramen in each place. ^_^
Even Morgana wanted to try, though he requested that Akira blow on it, first, because “feline tongues are sensitive.”
Tumblr media
The plan was to stay in Fukuoka until Makoto was feeling better, but Zenkichi called and basically said we had to get to Kyoto right away. So after a night of sleep, we got up the next morning, and we finally learned why Haru hasn’t been driving, despite having her license.
Tumblr media
My wife has a lead foot.
Apparently no one but Joker and Queen ever drove the Mona Bus, because everyone but Makoto seemed extremely surprised.
Supposedly it was eight hours to Kyoto. We were there by noon.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this old bar is apparently Zenkichi’s safe house, if anything ever goes wrong on an investigation.
He’s tracked the list of names that we found in the lab back to a politician called Jyun Owada, who was apparently a Shido supporter. This guy would benefit from changes of heart, and one of his supporters is the CEO of Madicce, Mr. Akira Konoe. They determine that Owada wouldn’t have a Jail himself, but that he’s probably getting Konoe to influence people for him. Which means that, since Sophia sensed a Jail in Osaka (that we missed because we were all screaming at Haru’s driving), it’s most likely that Konoe is a Monarch.
So my dart hit the board, I just gotta see how close to the bullseye.
Zenkichi heads to Osaka for a meeting with Konoe to try to get his keyword, and convinces the kids to stay behind. They need to rest and recover so they can be at their best for the Jail. Plus, he’s put them up in the nicest hotel in Kyoto! Which means it’s time to go to the hot springs!
The boys are having a lovely time relaxing. Even Morgana’s chilling on a rock with his tail in the water, basking in the chance to really unwind.
Tumblr media
.......Atlus. We need to have words.
Not only was this absolutely unnecessary...
It’s the exact same scenario as P3. We’re even in the same goddamn city. If I thought Gekkoukan would be willing to spend 40K per person a night, it might as well be the same hotel.
Apparently, the boys went in right before the time switched over, and didn’t realize. And now, once again, they’re up for an unjust execution. At least Yosuke and Teddie were actually peeping in P4.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally, I think a better plan would have been to start yelling, “Who’s there?” as soon as the girls came in. Sneaking just makes it look like you’re up to something nefarious. It was an honest mistake. And really, trying to get out without causing a scene isn’t a heinous crime.
We don’t see who knocked over the thing that got them caught, but they do get caught. There’s no gameplay here. Defeat is inevitable. And...
The girls jump immediately to accusing them of being perverts. Never mind that they’re wet because they just got out of the damn hot spring. And the boys try to explain. They try their best. They explain that they didn’t realize the time had switched. They explain that they’d gotten locked in without noticing, because the men’s side doors lock when it switches over. “It was an accident,” Akira says, plaintively.
And Makoto looks at these boys that she’s fought alongside for over a year. The ones who risked their lives to save her and everyone more than once. The teammates that she stood beside as they shot a god and saved the entire damn world. The ones who, on this very roadtrip, stepped in to defend Haru from Natsume being a harassing jackass... And she says...
Tumblr media
She sounds actually angry.
And she beats them up.
For an honest mistake.
Tumblr media
I know this is a trope, but in this particular instance, it’s stupid, and it feels incredibly out of character. None of the boys deserve this, but Akira least of all. He’s your goddamn leader; he’s done more for any of you than anyone else. He’s been falsely accused of shit over and over, and now he has to deal with it from his own teammates?
For shame, Atlus. Shitty writing, especially because this event is never going to be brought up again. Was this supposed to be funny? Because in this situation, it wasn’t at all.
...now that I’m done being cranky, let’s go check how Zenkichi’s meeting in Osaka is going.
Hm. Nowhere, apparently, because Konoe’s gone for the day. Weird. Zenkichi had an appointment and everything.
Now let’s check on... well fuck.
Commissioner Kaburagi, Zenkichi’s boss, is summoned by the commissioner general and the previously mentioned Owada. This asshole is claiming to have evidence that the Phantom Thieves are behind all the changes of heart. They hacked into EMMA!
Tumblr media
You’ve got a lot of fucking nerve, when you’re the one behind this.
Tumblr media
.......maybe this lady is better than I thought.
She says that there’s not enough proof, and that they need to look into things more. The commissioner general counters that the Thieves are going to be tried for murder. Because apparently they killed that poor man at the Okinawa facility after they learned how to get into EMMA.
Kaburagi knows this is bullshit and wants to investigate more, but they basically tell her to do it or else. And promise that she’ll be commissioner general one day. After the current commissioner general launches his political career with the capture of the Phantom Thieves, of course. And she’s just going to follow orders. Never mind. God. I didn’t misjudge her at all.
Konoe goes on TV and announces that they’re shutting down EMMA temporarily, because the Phantom Thieves hacked it and stole personal information. He also informs everyone that they murdered one of his employees. Zenkichi and I had the same reaction, which was “WHAT?!”
Tumblr media
Look at this asshole.
Zenkichi realizes what’s going to happen and takes off for Kyoto. Cut to that night, where there’s an entire fucking squad of police outside of the hotel in riot gear. For seven teenagers. Zenkichi shows up and basically pleads with Kaburagi to stop and think, because the real mastermind is still out there.
Kaburagi snaps back with, “You mean like with your wife?” and Zenkichi shuts up. Low blow, lady. She also points out that he seems very attached to criminals.
Tumblr media
Before Kaburagi can have the police storm the place, Zenkichi yells for the kids to run, and gets arrested for it. The kids make it to the safe house, but when they find out about the arrest, they want to go after him. They end up agreeing to let Makoto handle that, and then we get a look at King Asshole himself.
I hate how nice this man’s office is.
Tumblr media
And I’m kind of afraid of EMMA.
Good luck with that, though. You’d have to break them first; you can’t change the heart of someone stable enough to have a persona. Not that this fuck would know that.
Tumblr media
God, he’s like if Shido and Maruki had a fucked-up kid. He wants his own personal team capable of entering the metaverse and changing people, to make the world “better”. Holy fuck.
Tumblr media
Somehow I don’t think you’re the one in the right, when you’re talking about making us a “sacrifice to bring about [your] new world order.”
So the next day, the Thieves get a text from Akane’s phone number, that basically says she’s been kidnapped. It’s clearly a trap, but they all agree that they have to go. According to the text, if they want her back, they need to come to Inari Taisha.
Also known as Fushimi Inari, the largest Inari Shrine in Japan. I’ve been there.
Tumblr media
I have literally been right there. I have a picture:
Tumblr media
And so the kids head into a Jail based on Fushimi Inari where the keyword is “Phantom Thieves”, and I try not to explode from sheer glee because oh boy I thought I’d have to wait a lot longer for this and also I didn’t expect it to be somewhere I know.
Tumblr media
Eeeeeeeee~
They find Akane tied up and all go running towards her. Futaba trips, and before she can catch up, a huge cage snatches up the rest of them, because surprise, the Jail Monarch is Akane, and she’s absolutely ready to lord it over them.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Zenkichi is getting beaten up in interrogation and taking it like a champ.
Tumblr media
But it’s okay, because Makoto called in a favor. <3
Tumblr media
Futaba managed to get back to the safe house, and Zenkichi met up with her there after Sae got him released.
So you know that bit in P5 where the phan-site poll hits 100% belief and we summoned a demon the size of a skyscraper? That’s Zenkichi right now, except he’s hitting Maximum Dad Energy and I’m pretty sure he’s going to summon his persona.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a cool stealth sequence where you have to sneak by a bunch of shadows, because Zenkichi doesn’t have a persona. Futaba runs navigation for him, but it’s so funny because he... sneaks like a regular person. He doesn’t leap into cover with superhuman speeds.
It might have been cool to play Zenkichi With A Gun, but stealth mode was fun, too. XD
And then the confrontation with Akane. She gives the Thieves a choice of who wants their heart changed first, but before anyone can stupidly volunteer, Zenkichi shows up, and a few more things get revealed. Most importantly, the fact that Owada is the one who killed Zenkichi’s wife, and Zenkichi got death threats directed at Akane if he didn’t stop investigating. No fucking wonder he couldn’t solve the case. But Akane is too disillusioned to listen, because she doesn’t understand. And Zenkichi is forced to confront that at some point, he compromised his morals, telling himself he was doing it for Akane.
Tumblr media
This line wasn’t sung, but I kind of wish it was, considering who his persona is. :P
Zenkichi admits that he might have been wrong. But he was doing it to protect the only family he had left.
“But at least I know what makes a person evil. Evil only cares about itself. It’s the mark of a man who would bring another to ruin and dare not show remorse.”
And his awakening was badass.
Tumblr media
Shitty picture, but his literal shadow had glowing eyes while it was forming the contract. It was so cool. :D
Wolf is awesome. After beating up a whole hoard of shadows by himself, Akane got away, the Thieves were freed, and we all went back to the safe house to rest. And I swear, you take a nap for one hour, and cannot get any peace. XDDD
Tumblr media
Thank you, darling. Now I gotta figure out what deck that’s from.
So that was today. Technically I only played for like...2 and a half hours?? But god, we hit the hot springs and everything just flung itself directly off a cliff and all I could do was hold on.
I have so many thoughts about things!!! But I need to see more first. But this has been fantastic overall.

Razeluxe’s Top Ten Male Characters
So I’ve been thinking about doing a particular list for my favorite characters across anime and games for quite a while and with some advice I decided to break it into my favorite male and favorite female characters. Most people that know me can probably guess at my top three favorites but if you don’t know me... well you ‘bout to learn lol. This was harder than I thought to compile...enjoy my fanboying of the boys lol.
By the by, I’ll do my best to keep spoilers to a minimum.
10) Apollo Justice (Phoenix Wright Series)
Tumblr media
I’ve played only two games that this character was in (Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies, slowly working through Spirit of Justice) and this character particularly in Dual Destinies struck me even more than Edgeworth who is another amazing character. Apollo has an amazing spirit and it was only through playing Dual Destinies that I really got to understand Mr. ‘I’m Fine’ and his stupid ‘Here comes Justice’ puns. I feel his original game didn’t allow him to shine (still a great entry in the Ace Attorney series I don’t care what anyone says) and Dual Destinies allows him the development he deserves. He gets hurt during a trial and it allows a deep dive of his character even if his personality shifts for a while. Damn he’s savage. He’s considered the underdog in the Wright Anything Agency but he’s to me the hardest working person there who is also the most factual in court.
9) Gokudera (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)
Tumblr media
Or as I like to call him, Scowludera since he’s scowling like 90% of the time. This Ichigo ripoff’s character development is insane. And I think that trend follows most if not all the characters in this list. His relationship with his sister is interesting and he’s pretty explosive in terms of personality and intelligence. His fights are all really interesting too, he has some of my favorite interactions in the series thus far (haven’t read the post anime manga chapters yet sadly, but he’s more than earned this spot on this list). He butts heads with people a lot and he can be ignorant but he grows from his experience and you get to see it bit by bit. This dude is loyal to the bone. RIP if you aren’t Tsuna or Reborn. Also, I’d like to shout out this anime as one of the few to do the shounen genre proper justice. Go watch it. Also his sister Bianchi is <3. Oh wait. Male list. Oops. Can we also talk about his weapon? Not gonna say spoilers but that thing is dope and probably one of the best ever designed weapons. And his kitty Uri <3
8) Joshua Bright (Trails in the Sky)
Tumblr media
This will be short as I don’t want to spoil anything, but Joshua is a very easy character for me to connect to personally. His feelings, actions, development probably relates more to me than a lot of characters on this list. He’s got good people around him...I’m very happy for his ship and support it 120%. Also the Trails Series, both Sky and Cold Steel are probably my favorite series of anything period. Go play it. There is more to this character that meets the eye and has broken my heart more than once ;_;
7) Neku Sakuraba (The World Ends With You)
Tumblr media
Neku Neku Neku. Another very relatable character for me (see the theme here? lol) He initially shuts out people and over time, through his experience in the Reapers Game, he starts to open up and bring people into his circle. He goes through some crap, like a lot of trauma. When you learn of him it’s no wonder he wound up disliking people and society. He’s extremely creative and that creativity manifests itself in different ways. Kinda like me. It’s worth mentioning I used to roleplay this character back in the day, the very first canon character I used to write for.
6) Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)
Tumblr media
One of the only blonde’s on this list. Shulk is a character that is driven by revenge but eventually changes. He goes through some pretty traumatic stuff that I absolutely will not spoil. His personality when he encounters a certain characters shifts big time and it’s kind of scary considering how early you see this. Also he gets points for being a notably intelligent character. I mean, the dude has his own lab...and is able to fix and adjust stuff. He’s really a great and well balanced character despite all the crap he goes through. Also I used to make fun of this character and dislike him a little bit, but then I grew up.
The list gets real starting...now. Not that it was fake before. :o
5) Jaden Yuki (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX)
Tumblr media
Anyone who has actually watched the entirety of GX might know why he’s here. His character development in the latter seasons so unreal and interesting. I’m not spoiling crap but there is a lot more to the character than meets the eye. Like a lot lot. Over the course of the series he loses his innocent eyes and his personality changes a lot...His character is probably one I can relate to in terms of the reasons for his actions, the way he gets down about himself, the way he acts in the final season...it hits me hard...he’s too dang relatable...just like..
4) Rean Schwarzer (Trails of Cold Steel)
Tumblr media
Surprise surprise. Rean is here. -hears crickets- Guess you’re not surprised. I wonder why. I think I relate to this character more than anyone else on this list. Except number one. Number one is in his own league. Rean is a character who generally carries a happy disposition...he has a unique power but you can see he is actively scared of it. It’s something I actively deal with...he’s so scared of himself that he puts distance between family and friends. He never feels he’s good enough. He’s made headway through this, but...
One thing that’s extremely interesting about this character is his selflessness. You may think this is driven to the ground in character stereotypes but for Rean it’s different...his selfless has been described as abnormal by characters in game, and it’s not for positive reasons...Rean deals with some real unhealthy stuff. This is getting long.
As of this post Cold Steel 4 comes out in one month and I’m extremely worried for his character. If you’ve played 3 then you’ll know why. Also if you haven’t played the Trails series, go play it. No buts. Heck I’ll even buy the game(s) for you if I can.
--
Oh look we’re at the top three. I want to say that while numbers two and three here are pretty interchangeable, these characters have been in my top three for over a decade and a half and I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Rean I love you but you have your work cut out if you ever want to breach the top 3. I wanna post a few honorable mentions here. They didn’t get into Smash but they do get Mii Costumes at least! -shot-
Davis Motomiya (Digimon Adventure 02)
Tumblr media
This character was everything I was when I was a kid. The way he tries everything to woo Kari is too cute. Also his unwavering faith in Ken. Also Davis Cries Veemon.
9S (Nier Automata)
Tumblr media
Not mentioning any spoilers. Just watch this character and see how his vision of the world changes over time.
Okabe Rintaro (Steins; Gate)
Tumblr media
Okabe’s shift from his ‘persona’ as things get real and his efforts to fix everything is too relatable for me ;_;
Yosuke Hanamura (Persona 4)
Tumblr media
No, I do not ship him with Yu. They’re great buddies for sure, and he’s pretty cool. Really likable character for me personally save for a few moments in the game...he’s also the main in the Arena games. “Let’s do this, Jiraiya!” He’s so cool lol.
Top 3 time. Fiercely dedicated to these guys.
3) Robin (Teen Titans Go! 2003)
Tumblr media
Robin is such a raw character that carries his past and tries so hard to move from it yet it embodies him to his core. He has since gained a softer side from forming a team, and has been doing normal teenager stuff...which is good for him. However at times that Batman side impacts him so hard that he can only concentrate on his mission, and starts shutting out everyone and everything to do things himself. It actively gets in the way of his interactions. He deals a lot with moving on from failure and acknowledging his friends more, which he does get better at over time. He is also represented by the color red. My favorite color. He’s badass and yet carries so much crap. I connect to this character a lot even now. Third canon character I ever wrote for.
2 Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)
Tumblr media
I love Lloyd. I love his voice, I love his attacks, I love his stupid double sword logic. He says wielding two swords makes him twice as powerful lol. I love his development. I love his idealism and how it matures over time. I love everything about Lloyd. It was legit love at first sight. I remember being 15-16 and seeing him on that Gamecube boxart and saying “I wanna play that guy” Most people I feel (guys in particular) probably looked up to certain characters growing up as a child/teen. Lloyd was mine.
1. Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX)
Tumblr media
While it was love at first sight for Lloyd, that was not the case for number one on this list. I was 13 when I first played FFIX. Zidane upon encountering him, I always thought he was a cool character, but he was nothing special.  Even at Zidane’s lowest point I thought he was an okay character at best. I had not finished the game.
Fast forward a few years and I decide to play FFIX again, this time determined to finish it. I had went through some things, grew up a bit before turning this game on. This damn bandit...I remember writing this bit years ago: “His infamous mantra labeled above describes him well, but under his ability to console others with a smile, to cheer people up and meet them at their point of need with his abundant optimism lies a blonde who masks his pain and keeps his issues to himself. Despite his many friends and buddies he harbors a deep loneliness that, like his problems, he keeps to himself. One would have to look carefully to notice his character flaws for Zidane does an impressive job of hiding these problems. Whether it be through his energy, his theatrics, or focusing on other people, Zidane can cover things up quite well.”
Zidane has an absurd amount of depth to his character that I was never able to comprehend as a kid, beneath his flirting, his playful attitude, he hides a lot of feelings, a lot of anger, a lot of sadness. It used to boggle me how he’s able to uphold his sense of virtue despite what goes on in his life and the end of disc 3 answers this for me. It goes without mentioning that this was the second canon character I’ve ever written for, and I still love writing him. I could and write walls of text about how Zidane is so amazing, a chivalrous thief, a lover and a flirt but I think I can let you go lol. Hit me up if you really want to hear me ramble about any these characters, also play FF9.
...So I wrote all of that and forgot to write about Zidane’s ship...have to give it its own paragraph because I love these two together and she does wonders for Zidane as a whole as does he to her. She’s a princess and he’s a thief, they take their time to show them together through different things, different ordeals...particularly the ordeals. Its interesting seeing them both at their worst moments and the many funny moments..Man, that boat scene gets me every time...If I ever write a top ten couples list this couple would no doubt be in the top two if not number one. And I’d probably write way more than this about them because they’re great. Also they’re canon. A healthy canon. Also Dagger’s hot. Oh wait wrong list.
Okay finally done. Not editing this anymore :P

An Explanation of Why Louis and Violet are Both Terrific Love Interests [2/5]
Tumblr media
+Why both romantic routes are not only amazing but better than other games I’ve personally played in the past.
+Why some people are idiots and get off on picking stupid fights.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
Romantic Option #2: Warren Graham
Tumblr media
Uhm.... Warren’s a person in this story, too.
He, uh, he’s really nerdy. He does some science shit. He has a huge crush on Max which is made very obvious by the everything about him. Uh..... he took a fist to the face and got a black eye because he was helping Max, uhm.... he took a picture that was pretty important to the plot... um....
I literally can’t remember anything else about him.
I couldn’t even remember his last name. I had to look up his wiki to remember anything about him.
That’s how forgettable he is.
Hell, fans of the game took his character and made him more interesting in fanart and fanfics than he ever was in the game! I remember more about THAT version of him than I do about the him in the canon of the game!
I gave you that whole bit about Chloe from memory. That’s how much more fleshed out and important she is within the game than Warren is. Everything I’m about to talk about here if from reading his wiki and remembering things that way.
We meet Warren and find out that he’s into nerdy shit like Max. He’s also obviously into her and does a shit job at hiding that fact, but then Nathan comes over and beats the shit out of him because plot.
When I first played, it was pretty obvious that Warren would be romanceable, and truth be told, I liked Warren. He was fine! He’s dorky and weird, but I thought he and Max could potentially be a cute couple, and so does the rest of the school since you can’t talk to any of the girls without them implying that Warren likes Max.
I kept waiting for Warren to be important, but it never really came! I mean, you could talk to him and help him with a science experiment [in which he fucking blows up] and you text him a lot. Oh, and you can go to a Planet of the Apes marathon with him which you never actually get to go to, but the game constantly reminds you that you’re going because Warren won’t shut up about it.
Let’s see, he also sends you instructions on how to build a bomb so that you can break into the principal’s office, and then he beats Nathan up, and then he shows up and takes a picture of him and Max that ends up being important in the final episode and then.... he doesn’t do much else.
Well, okay, he does talk about Max’s powers a little bit in ep5 and you can give him a smooch or hug him or disregard him completely.
And that’s about it.
........Wait a minute.
A boy with boyband hair who has extensive chemistry knowledge, knows how to make bombs, uses said bombs for pranks, gets fucked up by one of the antagonists AND was a throwaway character that the writers threw in there to further the plot along but doesn’t really do much so the fandom took him and made him better than the game ever gave him credit for...?
Tumblr media
.....Welp, that’s a whole thing that I’m not gonna get into. One post at a time, folks.
ANYWAY
Back on topic, Warren’s a romanceable character, apparently. You can agree to go on a date with him and smooch him. You can tell people you think he’s cute. It’s fine.
With all that about these two choices in mind, compare Warren to Chloe.
There is no comparison because Warren’s “romance route” is... is nothing! It’s a whole lot of little things that don’t amount to much! With Chloe, Max has all this chemistry and you spend 90% of the game with her! You forget that Warren exists until you get another text from him or another character brings him up!
You know what Warren feels like? He feels like a character that the writers threw in because they were worried that players wouldn’t want a tragic wlw love story between two best friends, who reconnect and fall in love over the course of five episodes.
Which, fair, because people are idiots.
Could they have made Warren more important? Sure, but like with Skybound and Telltale, they didn’t have an unlimited budget to pack everything they wanted into the game to make it better, and that’s not just limited to the relationships, that’s clear in the endings we got. And I’m sure that some Warren stans will read this and retaliate and tell me that he’s just as important than Chloe, I just don’t understand because I’m a shithead.
And maybe that’s true, but look me in the eye and tell me that if you took Warren out of the game, it would have drastically changed the story beyond repair.
Now, what does all this mean?
Compare Chloe and Warren to Louis and Violet as far as love interests go and how they were handled.
In TWDG, Louis and Violet are fairly even.
In LIS, Chloe and Warren aren’t even in the same universe. It doesn’t matter if you like Warren more, or if you like Chloe more, Chloe got more time and effort put into her story and romance than Warren did.
Think of it like this: Chloe is at a 90% and Warren 10%.  Louis is at 48% and Violet’s at 52%, and that’s depending on how you look at it.
If TWDG did the routes like this, then Violet would’ve been way more important, would’ve have ten times as many scenes with Clementine, and if you took her out of the story, the whole thing falls apart because she’d be 90% of the plot, while Louis over here would’ve been used as background noise and plot convenience once or twice. Sure, we would’ve gotten to know him a little bit, but not nearly anything substantial and not nearly as much in comparison.
That’s what we could’ve had, okay? The writers could’ve given us a single love interest and said: “We want you to pick this person... but we’ll also throw in this other person just in case y’all are homophobic/racist/fucking stupid/whatever.”
In conclusion: We were blessed with Louis and Violet who each got an arc and love story, both of which are fairly even.
Have I made my point yet? No? You need more examples? Fine. I’ll give you another alternative to what we could’ve had, or rather, what we could’ve missed out on.
[Note: I want to add that I haven’t played Life is Strange 2, but I know that its playable character is also bisexual and can choose between a boy and a girl to romance, but I can’t comment on how well it did because I’ve yet to play it.]
[persona 4 and the relationships you can’t have]
This one time I tried to romance my partner but he was too busy trying to convince everyone that he’s straight to even notice.
Tumblr media
Persona 4 is a game that came out in 2008, then re-released with new content in 2012 under the name Persona 4: Golden. The game follows your nameable protagonist who has just moved in with their uncle and cousin. During his year-long stay, he becomes involved in investigating mysterious murders while harnessing the power of summoning Persona.
Great game, one that took over my life for about a year. Great characters, great voice acting, great story, great antagonists, and great romance and romanceable characters.
While the romance is more of a side thing depending on if you decide to take that route with one of your social links, it’s still nice to have special moments with them to break away from all the TV murder and whatnot.
And you have several great options to choose from! You’ve got Chie, Yukiko, Rise, Naoto, and then you’ve got several other girls around the school that you can start a thing with, but they’re not as important as those core four.
Each of the girls has an incredibly well-written story and share a deep bond with you, the protagonist. So, the reason I’m putting this example here is that the choice between all these great girls is super hard, right?
Wrong.
Because when I played the damn game, I didn’t romance any of them. Not because I didn’t like them or because I didn’t want my character to have a romance, but because the asshole I WANTED to romance wasn’t an option.
Because I’m not allowed to romance the dudes.
And that includes this dude.
Yosuke Hanamura
Tumblr media
Remember that pin I mentioned about how great it is that Clementine’s bi because not only does it give us well-deserved representation but also allows the player to romance both girls and boys?
The Protagonist of Persona 4 is not bisexual.
I can only romance the girls because he is straight.
But not really, because MY Protagonist pursued and sought after Yosuke despite the fact that the game would not let me romance him. Which is bullshit, because he clearly feels the same way, and no, that’s not my crazy brain making shit up.
My entire playthrough was pretty much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I won’t get into it because Persona is a long game and a complicated one to even try and explain to someone who hasn’t played it so that’s another rant for another day, but know this:
Yosuke was the perfect opportunity to tell the story of a boy dealing with internal homophobia, falling in love with his best friend [PARTNER] after the girl he cared about died horrifically and faced his shadow learned to accept himself and his insecurities. The potential here was wasted.
There are a shit ton more layers to that, but on the barest of bare-bones, that’s what I wanted.
Hell, according to a bunch of people, Yosuke was going to be a romantic option, but they scrapped it! Insult to injury, I’ll say!
Comparing this to TWDG, you could argue that Clementine only gets to romance Louis and Violet, but some wanted to romance Mitch, Aasim, Brody, ect.
Fair enough, but what I’m saying is this:
It sucked that I couldn’t romance the person I wanted to when I played Persona, and it still sucks every time I play a game and my person of desire is unattainable. This isn’t just Persona, that’s just the first game that comes to mind when I think about characters I always wanted a romance, but that includes all the other missed opportunities from other games, as well.
The Final Season is different.
The writers of TFS could’ve said, “Oh you want to romance Louis/Violet? Oh no, sorry, we were gonna do it but we changed our minds! But, don’t worry, we’ll leave hint after hint that they have feelings for you but you can’t actively pursue them. Allow us to tease you with the wonderful romance that could’ve been! Midnight piano lessons! Conversations under the stars! Lots of smooches! You’ll never see it in canon!”
Or, they could’ve only given us one of them, but that’s the topic of the next game.
In conclusion: They didn’t have to give us Louis and Violet or make them romanceable. If you want Clementine to have a relationship with them, you have the option to do that, which is something you can’t say with other games.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 31 and 40 for that shipper ask meme (sorry for picking so many but those questions are GOOD)
You're right, they absolutely are. I'm sorry in advance that this is gonna be LONG and I'm on mobile so I can't even add a read more;;
1. Talk about the first ship you ever had
So I'm SURE there were relationships I was invested in in movies and cartoons I watched as a child (I've always been a sucker for romance, even though there was that period when I didn't want to admit it) but I can't remember anything from very far back;; So it was either Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter or Ichigo and Masaya from Tokyo Mew Mew, whichever I read first.
2. Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life
GOSH. You can't do this to me. I guess Romione because it was the time in my preteens when I was becoming more aware of... stuff, in general, abs the two cemented my love for friends-to-lovers. Then Ioryuu, because I've never been AS invested in and passionate about a ship before and likely never will. Nothing can compare to that intensity and ngl I miss it;; I miss the genuine hype I felt in my heart that made me interact with people and make things. So many things. I honestly can't think of a third one with such a lasting impact, sorry;;
3. What's your current OTP?
Tumblr media
I imagine Souyo scenarios in my head every night before falling sleep and every morning after waking up, this is not a joke not an exaggeration. I still feel a little traitorous saying this on tumblr but their dynamic IS somewhat similar to the way I see Ioryuu so-
4. What's your current NoTP?
I don't think I have one? I have dislikes, some of them strong, but I don't see any of them often enough to be, like, actively angry. I have better uses for my time than willingly exposing myself to stuff I don't like.
5. Do you have any poly ships?
Not generally, juggling two characters is enough work lol. The only poly ships I've ever really actively shipped are Niels, Duncan and Natalie from the web comic Niels And the Gang by humon and Kinatsuen from Boueibu, but neither are actively on my mind much these days.
8. Have you ever shipped yourself with a character?
BOY HAVE I EVER. I've seen someone on tumblr have a side blog for self-shopping and not gonna lie, it's an excellent idea. My late teens were spent reading character x reader fics on Quotev and I started my fic career with the same genre. I don't really know what to do with myself when I DON'T actively ship myself with a character, which is my state of being now that Yosuke surpassed Yoosung as my favorite character;; Ibushi and Yoosung are the biggest ones but man oh boy I have shipped myself with characters from early age and I'm showing no signs of stopping! There's a reason that I main dating sims.
15. Have you ever "shipped at first sight"?
Not for long. I SUCK at forming first impressions. Usually if I start thinking I'll ship something, I end up not being so invested in it after all, and instead shipping something I swore off at first lmao. Which leads us to...
16. Talk about a ship you initially disliked
As a rule of thumb, all of them. I don't understand HOW it keeps happening but somehow almost all the ships I truly care/d about (that I didn't start shipping through osmosis before knowing them in the source material) started out as something I thought I "wouldn't be able to get behind." Gajevy. Shikatema. Sasunaru. Doctor/Rose. Karabita. Atsutodo. Kiribaku. Yoozen. Enatsu. Freaking IORYUU. EVEN SOUYO. IT'S BEEN YEARS I REALLY SHOULD KNOW THE PATTERN BY NOW
17. Talk about a pairing you've stopped shipping romantically
Like, I started to think they're better as friends after all? I guess NaLi. Then again, I mostly only shipped them out of spite in the first place because I wanted a counter for N/a//Lu, which I never liked at all;;
20. Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping
Now this time I can say for sure that there isn't one. I can't come up with ships myself and stay on board if there isn't content for it, canon or otherwise;; It's not a conscious decision or anything, it's just how my mind works. I get attached to stuff by exposure, whether from fans or the source material, and if the source material has enough content for two characters for me to pick up on and become interested, it's guaranteed to be enough to become a somewhat popular ship.
21. Is there a ship you just don't get, but have nothing against?
Actually... That's the extent I go to with notp'ing these days. I'm passionate about the right to ship whatever you want so by proxy I can't have anything "against" a ship, even if the sheer thought of it existing makes me nauseous. And I know how to think from points of view other than my own, so I can usually see the appeal, even if it appeals to me personally less than eating dog shit while walking barefoot on rusty nails that are also on fire.
That said, the only ships I have on my Tumblr blacklist are Yoo//ra/n and Suza//lu/lu because they're both popular ships for characters whose tags I am/was following and therefore get suggested a lot even if I want following anyone who ships then. Oh, and all B/LMa//tsu ships! I generally can't feel good about incestuous ships, but can and will fight for their shippers' right to do as they please as long as they stay respectful. (never saw blmatsus who weren't respectful. saw a plethora of anti-blmatsus who were absolute demons. actually the reason i moved away from the last remnants of my anti mindset was that i didn't want to be associated with THOSE anti-blmatsus, when the shippers they wanted dead were all such sweet people. food for thought.)
22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry?
All of them?? Lmao I don't understand this question, isn't shipping all about liking the chemistry between characters? Or the potential for it I guess, in which case the chemistry is whatever you want it to be, which is great B) I'm sorry I keep accidentally dodging questions I'm bad at choosing examples from a long, unordered list
23. Which of your ships deserve better writing?
Hhhhhhh I shipped Jerza for years and was still unsatisfied with their ending, Jellal didn't get to heal enough and we didn't really see them working through their past in an effective way and getting comfortable around each other. It's like they were supposed to be friends to enemies to lovers but the last part didnt really develop and their relationship stagnated at the stage were they were both just permanently awkward out of regret, and couldn't bring themselves out of it even though everything was forgiven forever ago. Or I've forgotten a lot of stuff that happened. Very likely. Is your a case of bad writing or good writing not working out the way I wanted it to? You're asking the wrong person.
25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs/graphics or similar?
EYUP. Harumichi was my otp for like a whole year before I saw a single episode with them lol. It was crazy, but it was REAL. I've also went into shows already paying attention to things I knew my friends/people I follow shipped, kind of hoping I'd get into it.
26. Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic I'm writing these questions down from screenshots and I cropped the rest of this one out by accident rip
Eeeh I go for the obvious. Best friend pairs, obvious pining, some rivalry with sexual tension, though I don't really know what to do with those. Then there's the fact that I never see it coming sick Persona 5 reference bro and start shipping the couple I thought "should just be friends" at first. This is more about my relationship to the ships than their dynamic but it's very constant...
27. Is there a ship you've shipped for most of your life?
Hmmm well I got into HP and started shipping Romione sometime in mid elementary school so it's definitely been more than half my lifetime since, but I don't really know if I "ship it" anymore. I didn't start disliking them or anything but for me, "shipping" is an active intrest in a fictional relationship, so if it reaches the stage where I like it, in theory, but I don't have the feels, it doesn't really count. That's why I can say I like ships without shipping them. It's gotta be actively on my brain, man.
31. Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love
I haven't mentioned Kannao once, which is criminal. So here's some of what I imagine their future to be like :D I've been getting new Persona followers recently so here's something for you to unfollow me over lmao
So first of all I ignore the canon that Naoto goes back to the city for her detective work after her first year of high school, shhh she stays in Inaba, only taking the occasional jobs. She and Kanji start dating during the spring break before their second year and get more comfortable with each other, so that the next summer they're still cute and very much themselves (which means somewhat reserved) but not as awkward anymore :) I haven't thought about what happens after they graduate but they get married in their early 20s and have a son <3 (Chie and Yukiko adopted their daughter only slightly earlier. They may or may not have had a bit of a competition going on) ((yes Souyo are very much together but if they end up having children I haven't thought about it it's later))
Kanji manages the textile shop and Naoto helps when she's free from detective stuff. They live in Inaba but Naoto is away quite often for her gigs;; She takes up a few jobs less when Kouta is little though so he wouldn't feel less close to his Mom than his Dad.
Both Kanji and Naoto suffered from unfair expectations growing up, so they try their best to make up for it with Kouta's upbringing. They want him to feel comfortable being himself and free to express himself the way he wants; they make sure he knows he'll always be loved and supported, and to never be ashamed of who he is. As a child it doesn't even occur to him that many social norms and social expectations exist, because Naoto and Kanji pretty much let him do whatever as long as he isn't hurting himself or anyone else. They might go a little overboard though, giving into Kouta's whims without much consideration at all. The Amagi Aunties enforce rules and keep kids grounded in reality much better lmao
40. If you could change one thing about your otp, what would that be?
HMNGHNMHGNMGH I WAMT YOSUKE'S INTERNALIZED BULLSHIT ACKNOWLEDGED!! It's there AtlUS!! Stop pretending oh my god.... I love the Dancing All Night story mode (so far. I am by no means done); Yosuke gets cool moments and Yu's internal monologue really shows how much he appreciates him. The dynamic is so much better than with a silent protagonist, and thank god they didn't go with the tactless anime Yu (as fun as he is). I know there are a bunch of nods to the cut romance across spinoffs but mannnn... I wish they were more serious about it. At this point it's not even that far-fetched to think Yosuke has feelings for Yu that he may or may not be aware of, and I know that Yu as the player character can't be too tied down to one option in canon, but still... Even the clown gets tired of jokes at some point. One can dream.

Kidnapped by the Kings---Part V
Part I    II   III  IV
Prologue: MC’s face began to turn pale. She couldn’t be….. No, it was impossible. Then she thought back to that last morning she spent with Taki before she was taken. Their desire and passion for each had been so strong, neither had taken the time to think about protection and had given in to their carnal desires. Her period had been late, but MC had just assumed that the stress of the combination of being sold in an auction and being held captive played a role in that.
Trembling slightly, MC turned back around to face Eisuke. “Eisuke,” she whispered, “I need you to go get something for me.” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eisuke paced back and forth while he waited outside of Luke’s examination room. This woman was causing him nothing but trouble, and yet he didn’t seem to be bothered by this. Soryu still wasn’t having any luck finding her kidnapper, but Eisuke didn’t seem to be too concerned with that fact. He had slowly found himself to grown intrigued by the wo-, by MC. She wasn’t like other women who were vain and selfish, but instead MC was gracious and caring of others. MC had every right to hate him since he was refusing to allow her any contact with the people in her life. If she did hold a grudge, she never let it show because she always greeted him with a smile. The thought that this woman could potentially be pregnant bothered him, and he couldn’t quite grasp exactly why. Perhaps it was the fact that keeping an expectant woman hostage, was not only going to be more challenging, but also something that he was not prepared for.
The door had finally opened, and Luke stepped out wearing a neutral expression on his face. “Well,” Eisuke questioned the doctor. “I must say, she has much nicer collarbones than I was expecting,” Luke dreamily replied. Eisuke sighed in frustration and slapped his hand against the wall, pulling Luke out of his trance. “I wasn’t talking about her collarbones Luke,” he snapped, “Is she pregnant or not?” Luke nonchalantly glanced at the results in the file he was holding in his hand. “Yes, she is,” Luke answered. Luke could have sworn he saw a look of pain flash across his friend’s face, but Eisuke was continuing to act like his normal self, so Luke assumed he had imagined it. Grabbing the door, Eisuke was about to enter when Luke suddenly stopped him. “Eisuke, I don’t normally like to get involved in your affairs, but I think you should let MC go,” Luke cautiously shared his opinion, “She’s not a bad person, and now that she’s pregnant, MC is going to need all of the support she can get.” Ignoring Luke, Eisuke opened the door and proceeded into the room.
MC was sitting on the examination table and was watching tv, until she turned around when she heard someone enter the room. “Hi Eisuke,” she greeted him sweetly, “Thanks for letting me see a doctor. I still haven’t heard my results yet, but I’m hoping Dr. Foster comes back soon.” Eisuke was about to deliver the news to her, when the television show she had been watching was interrupted by a press conference. “That’s Taki,” she cried out when she saw her boyfriend appear. She quickly raced over to get a better view and turned up the volume. Taki looked like he had been put through the ringer. His hair was disheveled, and he had dark circles under his eyes.
“About a month ago, my girlfriend was kidnapped,” Taki mourned hoarsely, “I’m here today asking for help to find her. Please, I’m begging you. Any bit of information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. There is a generous reward for assisting in her safe return.” MC began to shed tears when she saw the man she loved again, and it pained her to see him looking so devastated. She turned around to face Eisuke who was still standing there watching her. “Can I please go home? I miss him so much, that I feel like a piece of me is missing,” she wept sadly. Eisuke showed a rare moment of kindness and offered her his handkerchief. “Don’t cry,” Eisuke ordered, “It’s not good for the baby.”
MC stopped when she heard those words and cradled her stomach with both of her hands. “I’m pregnant?” MC looked at Eisuke questioningly. He nodded and she let out a loud gasp. “Then you really have to let me go home then,” she pleaded, “I’m going to need regular prenatal care, and I really will be needing Taki’s support during this. Please!” Eisuke’s phone began to vibrate, and he opened it to find a message from Soryu. We found the kidnapper. Eisuke replied to bring him to the penthouse lounge and went to go meet the person responsible for this mess. Sending a text to Luke instructing him to take MC back to her room, he was about to ignore the upset woman and leave her there, when something stopped him. Seeing her look so pitiful made feel an emotion he sparingly felt-guilt. “I’ll try my best to resolve this situation soon,” he promised. He left her glancing at him with a hopeful look in her eyes.
Eisuke had finally made his way to the penthouse, when he saw a battered man tied to a chair. His face was bruised and cut, and Soryu was holding his gun to his neck. “I’ll tell you anything you want to know,” the man implored, “ANYTHING. Just stop with the beatings already!” Anger began to rush through Eisuke’s body, and he stormed over to confront the man directly. “Tell me who hired you to kidnap the woman, or I’ll kill you myself,” Eisuke threatened. How dare someone hurt MC. This bastard was going to pay. The man cowered in fear and lost all resolve he had. “I swear this is everything I know. My client’s name is Kozue……”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few days later, Kozue woke up in a daze and was confused when she saw the figures of four individuals standing in front of her. “Where am I?” Kozue asked. She was beginning to see more clearly, and her heart nearly stopped beating when she recognized the men known as the “Kings of Paradise.” Taki was glaring daggers at her and walked up close to her until he was right in her face. “Isn’t it obvious? We drugged you and kidnapped you, just like you had done to MC,” Taki spat in disgust, “Tell me where you had her taken, or we’re going to wipe away any trace that you ever existed.”
Kozue started to become frightened with their intimidating auroras, and when she realized that these men weren’t joking around about their intentions. “It wouldn’t be difficult to do,” Yosuke interjected with a small smile, “All I have to do is press one button on my phone, and then everyone would say “Kozue-who?” Are you sure that’s what you want?” “No! Please don’t do that! You have to understand that I was threatened to help kidnap her and it wasn’t my fa-,” Kozue didn’t have the chance to finish her lie, before Taki was shouting at her. “ENOUGH! I’m sick of your bullshit and your lies! Tell me where she is!”
Hanging her head down in shame, Kozue finally admitted everything. From the man she hired, to the plan to sell MC on the black market. “All I know is that she was supposed to be taken to the Tres Spades,” Kozue said, “I’m not sure where she ended up after there.” Shun saw Taki shaking with rage, and calmly took charge of the situation. “I’ll go call for the car.” He left and Kiyohito followed him, leaving Yosuke and Taki with Kozue. “What should we do with her?” Yosuke questioned his fuming friend. Taki shot her one final glare before responding. “She’s coming with us.” Yosuke nodded and started to drag Kozue to the car.
Taki reached into his pocket to pull out the diamond ring he was still carrying around. He had never given up hope on finding her, and this ring was a promise to himself that he would never stop looking. “I’m one step closer to finding you MC. Once I find you, I’m never letting you out of my sight again.” After making his declaration, he hurriedly rushed down to where the others were waiting for him. Nothing or no one was going to keep them apart for another minute longer.

Pandora - Jealous
"You can only be jealous of someone who has something you think you ought to have yourself"
-Margaret Atwood
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything was normal.
Eisuke did not like normal. That morning when she came into work, Haruka acted as she usually would. She greeted him good morning, made him a cup of coffee, and went through the tablet to double check the schedule for the day. All was the same except for one thing; she refused to make eye contact with him. She was trying to pretend nothing happened, or trying to forget anything happened at all. But Eisuke could not. He could not pretend they never kissed in the middle of the street outside her apartment. He could not forget how soft her lips were and how sweet she tasted. He did not want to forget that look on her face that was telling him that she wanted him as much as he did her. He could not.
"...change these parts here too. Once you're done, you can send the contract over."
"Alright." Returning to her side of the desk, Yumi looked through the document. She turned to ask Haruka a question only to see her senior being dragged out of the office by her boss. "Haruka...-san?"
He was starting to understand why he hated the idea of her leaving. It was not the fact that nobody else could do the job as well as her. It was not the feeling of betrayal either. Rather, it was the fact that to him, Haruka was more than just an employee. A lot more. He hated seeing her with another man, even when that man was Soryu. If he was to loan her, it would only be for a day and never a second more. He hated seeing another man making her smile or laugh. That sweet laugh of hers was only meant for him, not Baba's cheap jokes. What he hated the most, however, was not having her by his side. A day without her, not being able to hear her voice or see her smile, it was torturous.
With only one thought in mind, Eisuke dragged Haruka away from her desk and to his room. Backing her up against the wall, Eisuke trapped her with his arms and leaned in so close that they could feel each other's hot breath.
"Mr. Ichinomiya...?"
"How dare you pretend as if nothing happened?" Her eyes flickered to a side glance, avoiding eye contact with him but Eisuke would not allow it. He pressed his forehead against hers, giving her no choice but to look at him. "Do you know that you're the only person in this world who could make me feel like this?"
"Mr. Ichinomiya..."
His lips was on hers before he knew it. Whatever she had to say, Eisuke did not want to know. Knowing her, she would try to put distance them. She would say they should keep their relationship professional and nothing else. But they both knew that this relationship had surpassed professionalism a long time ago. They started to see each other differently but neither of them realised nor wanted to admit it. There was no denying now, however.
Knowing there was no escaping from Eisuke, Haruka came to work with her mind set on avoiding the topic of the day before. She could not sleep all night because every time she closed her eyes, the image of Eisuke kissing her would appear. Her heart kept telling her that kissing him was the right thing to do but her mind was saying the opposite. He was her boss, they were never supposed to fall for each other. Eisuke was part of the high class society while Haruka was the lucky pauper who got to taste that lifestyle but would never ever belong. This was never supposed to happen. Yet, with Eisuke's lips pressed hard against hers, she could not bring herself to push him away.
"Eisuke...we can't..."
"Your body is much more honest."
The way she uttered his name, so out of breath and almost like a whisper, it was the most sensual sound. This was the first time she called him by his name; he was always 'Mr Ichinomiya' to her. Eisuke had no idea how much power she had over him just by saying his name but it pushed him over the edge. With one arm wrapped around her waist, he threw her on the bed and climbed on top of her. He traced his finger along her jaw, tilting her chin up to continue the kiss though they both knew this was heading toward more than just that.
As it would happen in the movies, Haruka's phone that fell out of her pocket started ringing. Before she could get to it, Eisuke swiped it onto the floor. True to her personality, she tried to get out of bed though he was quick to have both of her hands pinned above her head. "Don't answer it." It was an order but it was a plea at the same time. She ran away last time, before Eisuke could confirm his feelings and what they were. He was not about to lose her to a phone call.
Despite the death grip on her wrists, Haruka was still trying to wriggle them free. Not wanting to hurt her, Eisuke eventually gave in and let go. He was beating himself up internally. Nobody and nothing in this world ever stood in his way. Whatever Ichinomiya Eisuke, he would get. Any woman would throw themselves at him if he so much as looked their way but he did not want just any woman. He wanted Haruka. He wanted to hold her, kiss her, and have her in bed. He also wanted to see her smile, to see her happy because of those small ridiculous things that he did not understand. He wanted to have her by his side forever.
"Matsuoka Haruka speaking."
Everything happened so quickly that Haruka was still a little dazed. She had all intentions of pushing Eisuke away, to stop this relationship from developing into something more but her emotions clouded her judgement. Her phone ringing snapped her right back to reality. Answering the call, Haruka stepped out of the room naturally. She leaned against the wall and took in a deep breath to calm herself.
"...hello?"
"Yes, yes, I'm here."
"Good, because I need you. Meet me at the apartment and dress casual."
Still on the bed, Eisuke looked to the door. He never meant to pry, but her phone was ringing off the hook with the same person calling. A man's name appearing on her phone was nothing out of the ordinary. She received calls here and there to help him deal with business. But the name on her screen just now was one that Eisuke had never seen before. Or rather, it was a name he knew of but not associated with therefore, by extension, neither should Haruka. So how did Haruka come into contact with him? And why was he calling nonstop?
Sagara Yosuke.
Who was he to Haruka?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When she was a child, the theme park seemed like a paradise. There were rides, food that her mother would never let her eat, and of course the epitome of a child's life of winning a soft toy. She would beg her mother every birthday, every Christmas, and almost every other day. But theme parks were never a place for them. It was a place for families, for those who could afford the luxury of taking time away from work and spending money they were not earning. There were many things that her mother worked hard to get her. There were many things her mother could not give her, no matter how hard she tried.
If she was that five years old girl, the offer to be taken to a theme park would have been exhilarating. At twenty-six and with so much on her mind, however, it was impossible for her to even enjoy the cotton candy she had been longing for since she was little.
"Do you not like theme parks?"
Snapping out of her thoughts, Haruka looked to Yosuke on the other side of the carriage. They were climbing the height as the Ferris wheel was nearing the top but Haruka could barely remember even getting on. "I do," she replied. "I used to ask my mother to bring me all the time but we could never afford it. She didn't have the time either. My first time at a theme park was when I was six, on the day my sister was born. My mother didn't want me at the hospital so the neighbour took care of me. They were taking their kids anyway, so they brought me along."
"Then do you not like the Ferris wheel? Is it the height?"
"I'm not too fond of the height, to be honest."
"But?"
"But what?"
"But that's not why you're making that face."
The time she spent with Yosuke was not long. It was barely enough to get to know someone really. All that he knew about her, he found out in a background check on her. All that she knew about him, was little to nothing. She knew his name, she knew some of his associates, and she knew he was a man with power that was different to Eisuke's but that was still to be wary of. He could read her like an open book, see right through her. A feat that not even Eisuke was this good at. But unexpectedly, Haruka trusted Yosuke enough to be confiding in him. Perhaps it was the fact that he knew pretty much everything there was to know about her that meant she had nothing else to hide. Or perhaps, she found some sort of comfort in him.
"Let me take a guess. It has something to do with that precious boss of yours," Yosuke smiled, treating this like a game. When Haruka kept quiet, his smile widened and his eyes were twinkling from amusement. "Have you finally come to terms with the fact that you've fallen in love with him?"
"Mr. Ichinomiya is just my boss. And I am nothing but just his secretary. We are two very different people."
"And? Has being different ever stopped you from getting what you want? You don't have the qualifications, yet here you are, secretary to one of the richest and powerful men. Does it matter that he's your boss?"
"Do you know how many obstacles I had to get through just to be here today?" Haruka asked. "You don't. The hurdles for my career and those for a relationship with Mr. Ichinomiya are vastly different. The problem isn't that he's my boss, because take that away and we are still two people from two different worlds. He lives in a high class society where everything he sees and touches is the best. I grew up not knowing if we would get a proper meal the next day. I had the chance to taste his life, but that's all I get. I don't belong where he is, nor do I belong with him."
"You're giving up before you even try. Do you know how many relationships I've put together where they come from different places with different backgrounds?"
Thinking back to the double date Yosuke took her on, Haruka could remember how the other woman was pretending to be someone she was not. It did not matter how many lessons Yosuke gave her. It did not matter how expensive her dresses were. She never belonged to the high class society, and she would never belong. How painful must it be to be someone you were not? How lonely would it be, entering a world where no one else understood you?
"But this is not a movie," Haruka stated coldly. "There are no happy endings in the real world. How many of those couples you put together are truly happy with each other? Is the man happy to know that the woman he fell in love with was just someone trained to be who he would love? Is the woman happy knowing that if she was to be herself, he would never have fallen in love? If I really do admit my feelings for Mr. Ichinomiya, there will be nothing but struggles for us. We won't be like the prince and princess in the fairy tale where they lived happily after."
"Do you have so little faith in Ichinomiya Eisuke? In yourself?"
"I have little faith in love."
"Why?"
"Because I've seen it happen. I've seen my mother crying herself to sleep every night, waking up in the middle of the night just to cry again. I've seen her come home exhausted but refused to rest because she was waiting up for him. For a man who would never come. I've seen her making excuses for him, naively believing that he still loved her. Or that he even loved her to begin with. I don't want to be like her."
Behind that beautiful smile of hers, Haruka hid her pain. Yosuke could not help the frown. Although he too had little faith in love, his view on it was not as bleak as hers. He did not believe that he would ever find love for himself, nor was he interested to, but Haruka had completely lost faith. Her mother's failed relationship had utterly destroyed her belief in a relationship that would last. That there was someone out there willing to love her to the end of time.
It stirred something in Yosuke.
~.~
After the Ferris Wheel ride, things seemed to be a little awkward between them. She could be herself around him, be nonrestrictive about what she could say or do. Still, to have confided in him about something so personal, it felt a little uncomfortable to be around him. She felt exposed. But what irked her was the fact that Yosuke seemed unaffected. He still had that smile on his face, taking her around the theme park and even bought them snacks. Somehow, she did not feel irritated with him but rather, she was glad he was acting like so.
Digging into her ice cream with the small plastic spoon, Haruka looked over to Yosuke who was simply watching her eat the ice cream while his was melting in the cup. As she continued eating, Yosuke suddenly reached over and pressed his thumb against the corner of her lips and wiped. He then brought his thumb to his lips and licked the ice cream off with a smirk.
"That was really unhygienic," Haruka pointed out.
"Did that not get your heart going?"
"Definitely not."
"Looks like the movies were wrong. I'll have to note this for my clients."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He could not concentrate.
He tried distracting himself from his thoughts, turning to his work that would usually focus him but nothing worked. His mind kept wandering back to Haruka and thoughts of her with another man kept rolling in, frustrating Eisuke further. He never liked the thought of her with someone else, especially when it seemed like she was a lot more comfortable with them than she was with him.
Around Eisuke, she was always cautious. She would stand a feet away from him, only getting close to show him something. She had a special smile for him but it was a polite business one. He had seen her smiling so brightly around Baba and Ota on more than several occasions. Everything that she did for him, she did for her job. Perhaps their relationship was not as special as Eisuke initially thought it was.
A knock on his door interrupted his thoughts. Opening the door slightly, Yumi poked her head in first to do a little recon, mainly to see if Eisuke was still in a mood. While a smiling Eisuke was as rare as a super blue moon, even Yumi could tell that he was particularly pissed that morning. She did her best to avoid him, making sure that she made absolutely no mistake so he would have nothing on her. Unfortunately for her, when she did not look for trouble, trouble came looking for her. An hour ago, Eisuke gave her a name and told her to look everything up on the person. Now was the time to present her find although, she was pretty sure Eisuke would not be happy about it.
"Mr. Ichinomiya," Yumi greeted. "Um...you told me to look up a...Sagara Yosuke?"
"And? What did you find?"
"Well...his name is Sagara Yosuke and it seems like he's an...investor?"
"That's all you've found?"
The look on Eisuke's face said it all. He was not impressed. It was, however, expected. Yumi had seen Haruka do research on many people before. She would usually do the basic Google search and read up on recent articles. If the person was of importance, she would be digging into their social media sites, calling up here and there to get personal information that she could not get anywhere else. Yumi tried to do the same thing.
She searched the name online but little to no articles came up. She tried looking the name up on social media sites but that came up negative. She even tried calling all the contacts she had and asked around about the elusive Sagara Yosuke but not a single person heard of the name, let alone knew who he was. She did her best for the past hour but the limited information was all she could find for Eisuke. She prepared herself before coming in here but there was nothing more she could do.
"He's not exactly the easiest person to find information on," Yumi explained. "I mean...look up Ichinomiya Eisuke and there are tons of articles on you but this man, there's absolutely nothing. There isn't even a photo of him. Oh! I did find something in Haruka-san's files. It seems like he was on the list as potential partners several times but you never chose him. And it seems like he's an associate of Kozaki Taki, the real estate tycoon."
"I know who he is," Eisuke said. "That's all I need."

Being weird with characters
Me being weird to fandom characters. Persona 4 is my start. Leggo
Yu/Souji- looks calm and collected, is a cat whisperer. Has at least a box of fancy feast in his bag at all times, has a six sense of a cat nearby in his area. Ten strays always follows him. His shadow was pretty funny though. Cooks for everyone. Takes his lover to bed. Beat up anyone that hurts his family. Likes cute things. Precious baby. Makes things for friends. Tries to not be edgy anymore. Still weak for punk rock styles. Loves animals. Would stop listening to the conversation to pet animals. Has no filter. Dyes hair again for his wife. Every child favorite uncle/dad. Cries over not having enough hands to pet all the animals in the petting zoo.
Naoto- Is obviously a Tran’s boy but the creators chicken out. So if we can’t have transgender then genderfluid. Actually seen tapping her breast to look more masculine. Carries a water gun. Naoto shadow even wants to be a boy. It didn’t go away either she expected it. Very badass. Will shoot you if you mess with her family. Talks to Yu in a different language when she’s flustered. Mostly French. Let her friends call her he and likes it. Best detective ever.
Rise- very bi. Elegant bi. Has a lot of money and spoil her friends with it. Begs them to dance in her come back show. Destroy media when she came out bi and has a boyfriend and a genderfluid girlfriend (kanji and Naoto). Flirts with Yu too help push yosuke confession. Very romantic. Very flirty. Dress to impress. Forced Yosuke in a Santa dress for Yu present. Looks like angel is actually a demon too pranks. Badass boss lady. Prefer to be called queen of the idols as a joke. Helps get Kanji work in fashion and other things to help him out. Helps get Yosuke art and music seen with the brunette asked for her help. Rocks high curly pigtails like no other.
Nanako- everyone little sister. Must protecc at all times. Bring her to junes like she wants. Punched a man for almost killing her. Cried when she died. Cried when she lived. Sing the junes theme till you repeat it on beat with the commercial. Magic tricks. Plant things. No sleep till she’s out of the dungeon. Stay with her when she’s sick. Cry when she calls you big bro even if you are a female playing the game. Let her help cook. Eat the burnt omelette too make her happy. Love on the girl. If she says she’s a princess then she’s a fucking princess. Worry when she ran away. Be the best big bro. Support her dreams.
Ryotaro- tired dad. Best dad. Great husband. Tired of your shit. 99.9% of his blood is coffee. Black coffee like his mood. Gets you swim trunks for reasons when you really wanted that platypus tee. Talks about changing your dippers as a conversation starter. Hits you on the head as a sign of affection. Need a vacation. Need to sleep. Becomes your father then an uncle. Cares for his sister not so much who she married. Loves you unconditionally. Best dad. Very sassy.
Marie- goth chick. Don’t read her pathos. There actually poems. Can’t remember anything. Nobody knows her. You see her at the train station and then mysteriously she’s in the limo. Probably died? Sold her soul? Who knows. So much potential for a deeper backstory wasted. Kinda a dork. Likes steak. And dramas.
Margaret- mom too all of these idiots and Naoto. Loves her job. Makes people gay. Very pretty. Very serious. Smart. Very strong. Dance like a goddess. Makes you wanna talk about anything just to hear her voice. Lives in a limo like a boss. Makes it easier to understand what’s happening. Not really but you listen because other dimension calls for it. Likes books.
Igor- weird nose guy. Eyes that are on all the drugs that’s what they are bulging. Handsome voice actually. Surround himself with ladys this time. Tells you shit you better listen too. Very short. Very distracting nose. Probably smells colors at this point. Also smells bull shit. Talks about topics that you careless about. Make him say you’re name. Let’s you name yourself whatever you like. Sick limousine. In your dreams.
Adachi- cabbage boy. Literally an asshole. Murders for fun. Very gay for Ryotaro. Threw up at the body he murdered. Fooled people. Top ten anime betrayals. Is in prison. A spit lip and a black eye before handing him off to the police for almost killing Nanako and revenge for Saki. Still a slightly lovable guy.
That’s all the main ones. Might continue this or not who knows. But I might do another fandom next or another persona. Also any ideas for a name of this?

Please imagine me just delivering these on a platter to ur sickbed: akira, minako, ochako, iida, (tries to think of a marvel comic person) uhh flash
thank you, thank you. who needs cough medicine when you have shipping.
(edit: i’m 99% healthy. it took me that long to finish this mess.)
AKIRA: okay, i think i remember telling you how i was pretty chill with akira ships. like, if done right, i don’t mind any of them, except for futaba (because they’re siblings, fu). besides our collective issues with atlus and their inability to not be weird when it comes to the girls. also, i feel like what makes the p5 kids feel the most like actual friends is also what makes it harder for me to fully invest in any individual dynamic - they all meet throughout the course of the game (even ann and ryuji aren’t close friends beforehand, and there’s definitely no drama between them) and they help each other heal and get past their abusers so that they can have a fresh start and feel free to be normal teenagers. so there’s little to actually grab onto when searching for….anything layered? like, compared to the p3 kids who have so much inner turmoil that they take out on each other - or the p4 kids, who can’t be completely truthful to themselves or each other. the p5 kids do have baggage, but not with each other. which makes for healthier bonds but also more boring ship dynamics lmao. all very cute and fluffy, but not a lot of substance.
point is, i don’t really have much to say? like akira/yusuke is fun and silly. akira is eccentric and cool enough to go along with yusuke’s antics, and even though p5 always gives us an option to be mean, i can’t imagine akira ACTUALLY thinking that kind of stuff? like, he’s a weirdo too so he just. gets it. yusuke basically takes akira out on dates during his social link. they lend themselves well to model/artist headcanons and aus. they don’t realize they’re dating until a few months into their relationship - one of the others had to point it out and yusuke’s like ‘oh? is that what this is??’ and akira’s like ‘thank god’ bc he was too awkward to bring it up himself. futaba makes fun of them a lot.
akira and ryuji are cute too. i’ve gotten a bit fond of the boner squad (br)ot3 too. just ann/ryuji/akira being dumbasses. or ann/shiho+ryuji/akira being dumbasses while going on double dates. there’s also not really much to it - just the usual persona teen boy ‘no-homo-bromo-but-it’s-actually-homo’ fare. ryuji’s less possessive and repressed about it than yosuke is, though. which is good (ie more healthy) bc it’s more like akira found himself a human puppy jock boyfriend, and it’s cute! ryuji instantly decided he liked akira and started planning their secret handshake and selecting their cool delinquent hangout spot. and akira just smiles through it all bc he’s charmed. morgana gives akira the most judgemental stare ever when he finds out though.
i like akira/haru bc she’s who i dated in my playthrough. they’re soft and sweet and i think a slow relationship built on patience is good for both of them. and they have the most obvious phantom thief couple aesthetic, tbh. they also have the ‘demure wallflower by day, trigger-happy hellion by night’ thing going on. i love the idea of them opening up a coffee place together (their futures align! this is the SO that sojiro approves the fastest lbr!) and akira being haru’s trophy husband (let this man be someone’s trophy husband).
akira/goro’s the one with the most depth lmao as our boy akechi gets the short end of the stick re: what everyone else got - to defeat their abuser and come out the other side a new and improved person. INSTEAD, it’s all about deep-rooted envy and what-ifs. when i replayed p5 for my friend’s benefit, she kept being like ‘wow ok akechi’s got….the most obvious crush on mc. why is he always here? why does he talk like that? omg?’ and my sentiments exactly. AKIRA’S thoughts exactly, tbh, bc what else is he supposed to get out of some of the things that come out of goro’s mouth. but it’s like….he DOES like akira, but he also resents his existence because akira gets to have real bonds and happiness despite the crappy hand dealt to him. and their own bond is based on careful lies and observing each other for any cracks in their armour. but there’s that undertone of wishing that they’d met in other circumstances, where they COULD have a normal relationship and get to know each other in a way that’s not ‘we levelled up our relationship when you shot me in the face with the intent of murdering me and framing me for my own death but really, i tricked you and you didn’t actually kill me & now we can defeat you and your dad! ha! checkmate!!’ but i love that that’s actually part of the dynamic so lmao.
MINAKO: you know, despite minako and minato being considerably different (both their external personality/appearances > emo boy/preppy girl  - and the changes in their dialogue choices > again, minako is a lot more confrontational and energetic), i pretty much just ship them with the same people?
the only exceptions of this being i ship minako with shinjiro and yukari but can’t really fathom either of them with minato. (it’s bc yukari is a lesbian and shinji does not deal well with sullen people. like, what’s he supposed to do? pat minato on the back?)
i will also warn that it’s been….forever since p3 so i’m kinda fuzzy on details.
anywhoooooo, AIGIS. main protag ship is aigis. idc which protag, but i must give atlus my once-in-a-blue-moon compliment because they kept aigis’ social link and her blatantly romantic feelings for the protag the exact same in portable. so minako/aigis is just as canon as minato/aigis, buahaha. anyway. robot girlfriend who starts off being somehow programmed to feel protective/indebted to minako but then starts developing real genuine feelings as she explores her humanity, minako wanting to show aigis how to enjoy herself while putting the emphasis on aigis’ feelings and opinions but also being so amazed and grateful for aigis’ love and attention. also, the difference between protags here being that while minato is silently intimate, minako is loudly loving. the utter tragedy that is aigis not being able to save the person she cares about, the imagery of minako’s head in her lap while they wait for the end is….A Lot. i think in a lot of tragic robot/human romance fiction, the robot gives up its life for their human partner so i like the reverse here - with aigis having to experience the emotions of loss and depression and overcoming that because she truly loved mina(k/t)o and now they’re gone. it’s heavy! it’s a lot! i just remembered i never finished the p3 movies! i should do that!
there’s ryouji. again, don’t care which protag - just like the idea of our mc flirting with death. literally flirting with the avatar of death. the double sides of the ship: goofy teenage flirting vs warning of impending doom. ryouji just being like ‘yeah just kill me it’s for the best i’m actually here to destroy the world or w/e’ to his gf (or bf) out of nowhere on christmas eve lmao. it’s fun, idk.
yukari! honestly, taking out all the forced hetero ship teasing made me ship her with minako more lmao their social link was just better! no offense! and their personalities mesh better too - i feel like yukari would get way too frustrated with a closed-off partner and i love concept of: the huffy takes-no-shits girl being soft for her cheerful outgoing gf. also, i spent way too long imagining the answer with minako - the aigis/minako/yukari would be heartwrenching and we deserve it.
shinjiro! can i start off by saying it’s a good thing shinji was in p3, which did the best job of showing the characters apart from the protagonist and main plot (prob bc on the other hand, it did the worst job with social links seeing as none of the guys had them) - i feel like in p4 or p5, we wouldn’t have gotten to know him nearly as well before he died. anyway, his social link with minako is really sweet and a romance between them hits my ‘tsundere/flustered boy not knowing how to deal with affection from pretty girl he respects a lot’ checkpoints. and i need to talk about this: i feel like the decision to make him comatose instead of dead if you romance him was a double edged sword disguised as a blessing lol. because he was still DYING before he got shot, and also he wakes up just in time to find out his girlfriend died! fhdhfgdjd!
                      —————————————————————–
uraraka……okay: i ship her with tsuyu, bakugou, iida, mina and toga.
oh, here’s a story. before i got into bnha, i stumbled on a bunch of deku/uraraka amvs and they were so precious. like, really, deku and ochako are the cutest goddamn things in this series. seeing them side by side makes me want to channel my inner grandmother and pinch their cheeks. it was, like, the only thing i knew about bnha at first, so i just figured i’d end up shipping it whenever i eventually got to watching it bc i’m easy to please like that. but ha. nah. it’s sad bc i love their dynamic when it’s focusing on their actual friendship but then the actual romantic hints made me want to roll my eyes so hard. it’s so BORING if you take it at face-value, and i’m so boggled by it if you look deeper bc i don’t understand what hori’s planning here. it’s irritating bc even uraraka admits that her borderline obsession (and that’s what it is, since it’s compared to TOGA’S CRUSHES…y’know, our resident yandere serial killer?) is detrimental to her growth as a hero. and i know it’s partially bc she’s a teenager but its blown so out of proportion. it’s a crush!! relax!!! like, compare to deku’s crush on uraraka where after he got over his initial anxiety of talking to girls, he - at most - just blushes a little when she stands too close or dresses extra-cute. every other time, he treats her no differently than any of his other friends. but then uraraka’s crush is treated like. this weirdly twisted admiration she doesn’t even WANT. she relates to a villain’s desire to imitate and become the person they like, she gets ridiculously jealous every time he looks at another girl, she keeps fucking up because she focuses too much on him and how to be like him. it’s weird. idk. typical fiction tropes lead me to believe i’m supposed to root for them to get together (and bnha will end with an epilogue where they have a child named after a food) but the story i’m being told makes me want to root for uraraka to succeed at getting over those feelings! idfk!!!
also, i have to laugh at the way horikoshi decided to tell us and uraraka herself that these feelings were romantic. by having aoyama just be like ‘oh you were thinking what would izuku midoriya do? could it be you love him?’ when we see multiple male friends of deku’s (iida and todo, in particular - hell, even aoyama himself) have similar WWMD thoughts and he, in turn, instantly imitates bakugou whenever he hits a roadblock (taking inspiration from to downright copying bakugou’s moves, trash talking his opponents, etc). am i supposed to see only uraraka’s feelings as romantic? why? because she’s a girl and deku’s a guy?
i like it better when iida’s involved. both iida and uraraka are so sweet and enthusiastic to counter deku’s more nervous personality, and they’re a very good trio! i tend to prefer them as a brot3 but as i said, i do ship iida/uraraka seperately! i don’t have any big reasons for it except i enjoy how contagiously energetic and silly they are around each other? dramatic too - remember the ‘REACH FOR MY HAND’ scene when all the UA students were freaking out? it’s just a simple best friend dynamic like what they have with deku but there’s no weird one-sided jealousy/competitiveness involved (luckily, iida got over it after the stain arc haha). they don’t end up feeling bad or unworthy of the praise they get from the other - which is great, because they’re very complimentary towards each other! iida is so understanding (his immediate reaction to uraraka being self-conscious about her reason for pursuing heroism) & uraraka is usually the one who vocalizes how cool and talented iida is (while also giggling her ass off whenever he gets all extra-dramatic)! tbh, curse their aborted moment after iida’s match with mei! let them praise each other!!! i like that their seats are so close to each other too - i wonder how horikoshi decided on the seating plan. but uraraka’s tendency to shake iida by the shoulders is precious & i bet you he breaks his staunch ‘follow-every-rule’ mentality when it comes to uraraka writing him little notes in class. also, maybe uraraka just deserves a sweet+rich boyfriend. it’s that easy. lmao.
i already talked about bakugou/uraraka. it’s great, dripping with potential, needs more canon interaction. i only trust a portion of its fanbase to do them properly. but this is the case for almost every big ship. (where’s that one fandom meme where one of the questions was like ‘what do you hate seeing in fanfic/content for them’ bc NOW THAT I’M ACTUALLY READING FANFIC AGAIN, LEMME TELL YOU. BEING A MULTISHIPPER IS HARD.)
tsuyu and uraraka are just genuinely a good match? i like the contrast between uraraka - who is emotional and upbeat - and tsuyu - who is calm and rational. but they’re both very perceptive? their first night at the dorms is a good indicator of how their dynamic works. the others are quick to accept that tsuyu doesn’t want to play along with the room competition, but uraraka both provides the excuse and lingers behind with worry. she probably had to convince tsuyu that it was okay for her to vocalize her feelings to the bakugou rescue squad, and volunteered to be with her during said confrontation. compare to the forest where tsuyu sweetly and calmly offers uraraka her hand because she sees her friend is scared, without actually needing to say anything else. they’re sweethearts. i absolutely adore them. oh, and i dig their earth/sky + pink/green aesthetic clash.
uraraka and mina are based on two things: 1) they’re always hugging and hanging out in official art/sketches (mina even has a selfie of them hanging on her wall of pics in her room) so i can only assume they’re super-close gal pals that should kiss, 2) i love shipping silly idiots together and it’s hard to find ships like this that are f/f but these two fit that specific chaotic mold!!! and 3) AESTHETIC DREAM!!! PINK SPACE GIRLS!!!! DO I NEED ANY OTHER REASONS? NO. NO, I DO NOT.
HOLY SHIT, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT’S OFFICIALLY CANON THAT TOGA HAS A ROMANTIC CRUSH ON URARAKA? again, i could write an essay on coding and how frustrating it is for characters like toga to usually be bi/pan. but no one’s claiming this a win for rep. and i’m FASCINATED by this dynamic. toga loves stain-sama for his ideals and how that enables her nature to kill. she loves deku-kun out of curiousity for his ideals and the fact they met when he was beaten to a pulp lmao. and she loves ochako-chan because she sees herself in her - she thinks that they share ideals. again, i have no idea what the long-term meaning for this development is but it’s clearly pitting them against each other? and adding a romantic element to that is hmmmmmmmmm. we’ll see, we’ll see. and like i mentioned above, it’s shocking and worrying and makes me ship uraraka and toga more that uraraka ALSO sees the similarity between her and toga. she’s horrified by the implications of it but she hears toga’s spiel and tries to fruitlessly deny that ‘yeah, she’s right. that’s how i am. we’re the same.’ if i were to ever write a traitor!uraraka fanfic (which i would if i could ever FINISH a writing project), it’d be uraraka/toga and uraraka trying to convince herself she’s better than toga, that she still has a moral code and her reasons for joining the league have more weight to it, and she doesn’t!!! care!!! what toga thinks of her!!! and expecting a rivalry but toga doesn’t meet that head-on because instead, toga wants to be close and connected to uraraka. toga has this kind of mature soft side we’ve seen before (with twice) that shows how she can see you at your core (her fight w/ uraraka also showed that) and i want to see uraraka to be on the end when she thinks she doesn’t deserve it and doesn’t trust toga and just being frustrated and confused over it all.
                        —————————————————————–
iida…….i think deku, todoroki, uraraka and aoyama are my biggest ships for him. also, i don’t ship it myself but momo/iida/todoroki’s rich kid squad is A REALLY FUN DYNAMIC AND OT3.
LET’S BE REAL: IIDA/DEKU IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED IN THIS FANDOM. ALL IIDA SHIPS ARE BUT….IIDA/DEKU. iida’s goddamn….tucked deku into bed. threw his hat in the ring of rivals. there’s official art of iida giving deku a shoulder ride. he punched him to make him see how his actions are affecting him - “haven’t you thought about how *I* feel [about you putting yourself in peril]?!” like. bro. okaaaay. i still laugh that they got on the wrong foot initially - deku was so scared of iida sjfhhf like he was equally worried he’d be stuck in the same class as iida as he was about kacchan. thankfully, iida’s a sweetheart who cares with all his heart, and he sees all that there is to admire about deku, so they became instant friends after that. and iida means SO MUCH to deku. i pay a lot of attention to how future!deku talks in his narration, because he normally interrupts the narrative to move the story along - by talking about minor time skips, the movement of the villains, etc. but he also tends to wax a bit poetic about his friends. like when he interrupted everything to give us a side-story about how and aoyama became bffs. so we can assume that aoyama’s friendship means a lot to adult izuku. or how comforting and important it is to me that even as an adult, he refuses to stop calling bakugou ‘kacchan’. it’s sweet. in that same vein, it strikes me that deku still holds an amount of guilt for not supporting iida better during the whole ingenium-stain debacle. it ended….much better than it could have, and that experience was what strengthened iida/deku/todo’s relationship. yet as an adult, deku still wishes he could have done more. offered iida the help he needed before he went rushing in. hoo. but anyway, yeah, they’re cute! wholesome nerd boys! cute height difference! also yeah, i’m glad that iida got over his sports-festival-era feelings of inferiority towards deku. deku loves competition, but you can tell that he didn’t want that out of his relationship with iida (compare to how he outright covets a rivalry with bakugou and accepted it from todoroki w/ his head held high). it wasn’t based on healthy feelings and they’re so much better as supportive bfs.
iida and todoroki have a lot of stuff in common as legacy heroes who were trained from childhood to be heroes - with the major difference that todoroki faced horrifying abuse that prevented him from having a close relationship with his siblings and made him want to reject his legacy, while the iidas are good folk and iida’s brother means the world to him and he’s so far one of the only heroes we know to reuse a superhero identity based on legacy. and even the painful bullshit (like the ‘take out your muffler and a new, stronger one will grow in’ thing) was something that iida went through on his own accord and with warning. and todoroki’s words of encouragement during the stain arc were based on his own life lesson! they both come off as very serious and abrasive elites at first glance, but they’re actually dorky and socially awkward! but i think they get each other - i imagine they have a very calming friendship, no need for pretenses and judgement, and they deserve that! they probably think the other is hilarious too even though absolutely no one else gets the joke! they had a lot of cute moments recently since they were paired in the same 1A vs 1B match. like iida can just…tell the minute differences in todoroki’s expression and demeanour apart and knows when there’s something wrong. and they’re just so humble and sweet and can’t handle the other being self-deprecating. they’re good boys, brent.
already talked about iida/uraraka. they’re cute, i love them.
AOYAMA THOUGH. knight boys! they were so good during the exam! it really got me that aoyama didn’t even consider the idea that iida might not abandon him, might want to help him and win together instead of just use him to get ahead himself - and iida didn’t even really get the emotional realization aoyama went through there but he was still like ‘YEAH WE DID GOOD! I’M GLAD YOU FEEL BETTER! THUMBS UP! :D’ they’re both very dramatic and - i don’t know how to describe it….they pose a lot, talk with their limbs. they’re silly, is what i mean. and maybe aoyama ALSO deserves a loving, rich boyfriend. MAYBE IIDA SHOULD BE EVERYONE’S LOVING RICH BOYFRIEND. but in this case, aoyama’s boyfriend who will carry him bridal-style everywhere, much to aoyama’s glee lol. except when he’s dragging him along via his cape. whatever works.
also, side note, i find it kinda interesting that fandom pairs him up with girls like mei and camie - when i just….feel like he’d be so out of his element and sooo overwhelmed? i’m wincing just thinking about it lol poor iida.
                        —————————————————————–
i’m glad you specified marvel bc if you’d just said ‘comic’, i would have assumed you meant THE flash and i would be forced to sit here and think of every dc speedster ship…..well, it wouldn’t be as bad as spidey ships (honestly i’m very basic with speedsters - it’s just like ‘speedster/their spouse’ with the adults (even wally - linda or bust, tbh) and ‘speedster/their best friends’ with the teens), but we’d be here longer.
BUT FLASH THOMPSON? i already mentioned my two big ones, with venom and peter but i’m def willing to talk more about them.
flash/venom, a man and his gooey alien husband. i love that it’s a relationship based on self-growth and healing from past hurt and stopping destructive habits and cycles (both that cause self-harm and harm onto others). one of my favourite panels is still where flash pleads with peter to not let his anger seep into venom because venom’s gotten past all that. he’s a better person (being. alien. thing.) now and doesn’t want to turn to feeding on rage ever again. and that’s true for flash (a victim of child abuse who bottled up all that sadness and rage and took his aggression out on other kids) as well. it’s just so….nice. and venom credits all this to flash. and a thing i find about venom is that its unhealthy dynamics are all about control - you’re just its host, it possesses you against your will, you become an out-of-control villain. but with flash, venom sees a partner and home - they need and belong with each other, they communicate and cooperate, they became a superhero. also i love how they’re seriously affectionate and intimate - that’s just kind of a given with venom, i think, because you have to invite & accept it as part of yourself. but flash is so soft with venom - while he’s not as….hm, vocal about it as eddie ‘ooh my love my darling~’ brock is (he’s also a bit less obsessive haha sorry eddie), he’s so protective and likes giving venom headscratches and kissy faces to the point others react to it like they would witnessing PDA. i just want flash to be all cute and smooch his husband when they’re not like. one singular entity. CAN YOU BELIEVE THE HEALTHIEST DYNAMIC FOR FLASH TO BE IN IS WITH A SYMBIOTIC ALIEN GOO CREATURE? I CAN. AND I’M THANKFUL FOR IT.
i also ot3 them with eddie for the sake of my peace of mind where everyone’s happy. where venom’s not torn between two loves, and eddie doesn’t feel the need to think things like ‘it’s tough being someone’s second best’ and ‘i’d like to think he’d do the same for me but part of me knows that would be a lie. it’ll always be flash.’ and having those thoughts because he literally FEELS that pull towards flash? like he inherited those feelings, he KNOWS what it’s like to love flash thompson. LIKE, YO????? GIVE ME THAT SYMBIOT3.
then there’s flash/peter, the funniest super/civvie id love triangle in the world. flash having the biggest hero crush on spider-man in high school - so many superheroes to choose from but spidey is the best, because he’s an underdog, because he gets pushed down and refuses to give up, because he’s SO GODDAMN COOL - while simultaneously thinking peter is frankly, the worst? but in that terrible way where he fixates on peter even when he’s not part of the conversation. waiting for him to leave school so he can be mean to him, feeling frustrated whenever he tries to be nice to the guy and peter either ignores, rejects or insults him in return. peter just being like ‘Sigh’ whenever flash insults him by gushing about spidey, but that’s also why he can’t dislike flash no matter how bad their relationship is. how can he hate spidey’s biggest fan? and also he probably gets a good amount of pleasure out of flash’s gf liz allen having a crush on him. peter also does this to johnny and his gf, dorrie evans - they’re frienemies in high school and kind of obsessed with each other,,,,’heRE’S MY LIST OF 500 REASONS WHY I HATE THE HUMAN TORCH’ OK PETE RELAX. so yeah, peter, despite having genuine feelings for betty brant, hits on liz and dorrie whenever they cross paths and lets them use him to make their hot blond boyfriends jealous. (peter, maybe you ARE the worst. stop it.) and then when they get to college and end up in the same friend group, flash slowly realizes that peter is like. hot now? and like, kind of a cool dude who went through a lot! like, he thought peter was a jerk in HS but he’s actually really nice when he wants to be and is always in your corner! ‘wow, i really like and respect pete! i’m proud to be his friend!’ flash thinks while staring at peter’s biceps. meanwhile, peter has no idea what’s going on because he keeps expecting flash to turn back into a dick (and steal one of his girlfriends lmao) but instead, he just keeps proving he’s a great guy! and keeps confiding in him! and uh, complimenting him a lot? and still fanboys over spidey and that’s really endearing! and oh, he’s really gonna miss him whenever he’s on tour and the idea of flash dying is unthinkable and he really likes being his roommate and he’s who he wants to be his best man and he doesn’t get why flash doesn’t seem to realize how great he is, and welp, he just punched captain america in the face for not telling him flash was agent venom. anyway, bottom line: i like dynamics that are very….long-term and constantly changing? so i tend to fall for the enemies/rivals to friends to lovers thing. or friends to enemies to lovers. but this is a former situation for sure.
also, i’m convinced every corner of the college crew pentagon happened. flash and harry MUST have at least made out once and neither was sure how to deal with the aftermath of that for a couple of months. he’s kissed and casually dated gwen AND mj - but i find it interesting that it seems like neither girl really ever considered him a contender. gwen cares about him but sees him as a shoulder to vent to about her issues with peter, and mj has a lot of fun with him but also considers him the male version of her (outgoing and bright but unwilling to commit and act serious). and he interestingly backs down quickly when peter decides to make a move on the girls. like, compared to his love triangle with liz and peter where i feel he was pretty resistant to letting her go - especially to someone like puny parker, he responds to peter’s accusations re: gwen and mj with ‘hey, relax. it’s not like that. i wouldn’t do that to you.’ i take it as him growing up and not feeling the need to overcompensate to impress his dad and also maybe the fact that he’s a bit more aware of how closeted he is. but it’s weirdly different with harry (*cough* cause it’s the first dude aside from peter he had any romantic interaction with *cough*) so he just……..dances around those feelings (on top of both of their feelings for peter) until harry starts dating liz (BECAUSE EVERYONE DATES EVERYONE IN PETER’S CIRCLE OF PALS, I GUESS) and he’s just like ‘???????????? well okay then’.
i like his dynamic with felicia as much it also pains me - that felicia went into it thinking she could use flash to hurt peter (’i’ll break your heart like he broke mine!’) but then ended up legitimately falling for him and started hoping for a normal life with him. also that they liked hanging out in terrible workout clothes. nerds. (alas, it didn’t last bc….FLASH, BUD….BUDDY….I CAN’T BELIEVE MARVEL HAD FLASH SAY THAT AND THEN PROBABLY SAT BACK AND THOUGHT ‘YUP PETE’S BEST BUD FLASH IS TOTALLY STR8′) and i need to read more of him and betty to get a handle of that but. what i’ve gotten from the panels i’ve seen that it’s very dependant on the writer and has the same problem flash’s relationships with liz, gwen, mj and felicia had where there’s a lot of love there but the actual romantic element is….lacking? falls short? fizzles out? where he seeks out a connection to peter(/spidey) through his romantic relationship with a woman peter used to be involved with and pushes said woman away when she starts getting in too deep?
anyway, that just turned into an essay about how flash thompson has been gay since his conception and only like, 20% (maybe less) of writers in charge of writing him have actually realized it.
