Hi! I know this is going to sound weird. Would you like to create something like a cheat sheet against attacks batjokes antis (co-authored or maybe it's more convenient for you to work alone)? I often see batjokes newcomers being bullied massively on any platform, especially if they are just getting acquainted with comics and can't navigate them like lightning. For example, they do not know that if you give an example of alternative universes, these batjokes relations are devalued and are not considered canon. They don't know what to say when an opponent says that Bruce has no feelings for the Joker (for example, the same understanding, some sympathy), except hatred and a desire to kill. I don't like conflicts, and often I can just block a person if he himself comes to me and tries to impose on me that my picture is wrong. But I see other people's desire to discuss, to defend what they like. Especially newcomers, because no one has sown a grain of doubt in them yet (and, to be honest, one of the reasons why I am writing to you is just the unwillingness for this spark of obsession with batjokes to go out in them). So I thought maybe this ship needs one collection of counterarguments? For example, the argument "batjokes is not a canon, because it has never been in the main wounds", the counterargument "a list of the main runs and a brief explanation of what is happening", Or, for example, the argument "saving the Joker is exclusively a code", the counterargument "examples with Bruce's desire to fix the Joker or just understanding him, the similarity of their destinies, sympathy." In general, the list here is large. I have been thinking about such a cheat sheet for a long time, but I am not a native speaker and often have problems with objectivity. For example, I often see arguments along the lines of "The Joker doesn't like Batman, flirting is to unsettle him." Will it be a counterargument that the Joker talks about loving Batman, even when no one is around, when there is no one to mislead (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #106)? Or, for example, would it be an argument in defense of the fact that it's not about the code and Bruce needs the Joker vitally, a mention of the transmitter that was in the Joker's pocket and which only had to be searched for before resurrecting him (Legends of the Dark Knight #144-145). The Joker wasn't dying by Batman's hand. The code is not broken. At the same time, Bruce says that the only reason is that he had no choice, he had to find Ra's al Ghul, but in fact the choice was: to act like a detective and find clues, the same transmitter. In general, it is difficult. I love your analysis of comics. It seems to me that there is no more objective view of what is happening in the fandom, and if the cheat sheet came out from under whose hand, it would be from under yours. But I don't want to impose myself, after all, such a collection requires a lot of time and effort. So don't worry if you're not interested.
Hi! No worries, I don't mind the message. It's nice of you to want something like this for new fans so as to help them not lose their interest in the ship. Unfortunately, I really don't think I have the time to create an Excel sheet of the scale you're suggesting. I do intend to create a masterpost of the more common Batjokes questions I get and my meta, which are all based on comics. Perhaps that post could serve as help for those interested in backing up their canon arguments of Batjokes. I'll try to tag you when I get around to it.
However... [deep sigh] alright, I can't help elaborating a bit. I understand the feeling of indignation and the need to defend the ship when attacked, especially if you are new to it. And I imagine you're talking about platforms like Twitter and TikTok especially, where the kind of anti-Batjokes stance you're describing is a lot more rampant. But personally, I find the idea of fighting and arguing with these people utterly exhausting. No one needs to prove the basis of their ship with receipts, argue for its existence in comics in excruciating detail. Hell, shipping doesn't need canon support. Fandom is transformative, and this recent approach to shipping where people fight and argue over what's more "canon" is hard to understand, to me. Not to mention how nonsensical this morality-based approach to characters and shipping is.
Being in fandom is not supposed to be a fight. You're not supposed to come from what's likely a stressful real life and then stress some more arguing on the internet with strangers over a fictional ship and fictional characters. The vast majority of the time, these antis are quite young too-- teenagers deadset on hating on any kind of "toxic" or "problematic" ship. Presenting them with logical arguments based on canon isn't going to do much. I've seen it happen more than once; Batjokes fans bringing in real support to their arguments which then got willfully misunderstood or mocked, in the absence of a counterargument. Antis are not looking to be convinced, they're not looking to understand the ship they're attacking. They're looking to raise themselves in the eyes of other antis by virtue-signalling, and to get satisfaction from asserting their perceived moral superiority over others. These are wholly emotional goals, and the chance of bringing rational arguments to someone who's driven by this kind of motivation and changing their mind is small (and not worth the time and stress of putting yourself through it).
My opinion is that the best way to deal with these people is to block them and not engage. What they want is attention, and witnessing the distress of the fans they are attacking. Not giving them the platform and the attention they want is for the best. I'm not saying not to engage in any sort of debate or discussion about comics as long as it's polite and not ill-intentioned, I've done it myself and I quite like having talks of the sort. But it's right there in the name; antis literally define themselves by a thing they hate. Reason is clearly not what they're looking for.
Thank you so much for the kinds words, though! I'm glad you enjoy my analyses and my blog <3

Hey, wanna hear my theory/headcanon about Kirby's power, if no too bad because I am talking about it anyways.(Also this is kind of inspired by the Kirby is a positive void theory.)
My theory is that, how happy Kirby is that powerful he is and being sad don't make him as strong, let me explain.
Evidence number one: Strength Inconsisties
Kirby fights with enemies, mini bosses and bosses but, we've been shown that Kirby could hit a mateor with a wodden baseball and make it go light years away, in matter of seconds,
Tumblr media
And litterly punch a planet in half.
Tumblr media
(Yes I know this are mini games and have quistinable canonity but it isn't as fun.)
With that amount of strength Kirby would destroy more than half of this guys with a slide kick, and I know what some of you will say "that is a video game of course they can't make him that overpowered.) for that I remind you of the elevator cutscene, if you played forgotten land you'll know that elevator scene (the one dedede puts himself in danger to save a waddle dee), in that scene Kirby tries to keep the elevator door open but he clearly strugers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes he does slow down the elevator, but from what have we seen Kirby could stop it fully. All of this, to me has multiple implications:
1. That elevator and everything in the Kirby universe is way to powerful that goku would be average at best.
2. The game makers makes Kirby's power level depending on what would be the funniest at the momment.
3., and the one that I'm making a full theory post about: Kirby's power is related to his emotions.
Think about it when Kirby sends a mateor light years away or punches a planet in half, it is mini games and Kirby seems to be happy or relaxed, while in the elevator scene he wouldn't be that happy and he is possibly in distress, I mean one of his closest friends could get seriously hurt, yeah a mateor would crash right into him, but since it was a mini game and Kirby wears a backwards baseball cap and competes against other versions of himself, I don't think he takes this seriously. Speaking of other versions of himself.
Evidence number two: Clones
In Kirby star allies meta knight, after getting corrupted by jamba heart, can clone himself.
Tumblr media
You can say that jamba heart give him that ability and he somehow keep using it, but from the game you can come into the conculusion that jamba heart makes people reach potentials they never reached before and meta knight cloning being one of them but if that's the case, Kirby alerdy reached that potential and I am not talking about amazing mirror or mass attack, I am talking about the victory dance. In the early games Kirby could clone himself to dance (I am pretty sure he does that in one of his smash victory posses in smash, although I think he only does that if that was a solo battle) and to dance after what, after defeating a stage or a boss, after getting progress in his adventure and as he gets closer to his goal after that he would naturally be happy.
Evidence number three: The Void theory
I don't want to explain this here because every youtuber who ever talked about the Kirby lore alerdy talk about this, for summary it is basicly a theory that says Kirby is a reincarnation of void with positive emotions, if you want a more detailed explanation for the theory and the void go to a YouTube video called "Void Termina | What is Kirby Canon?" by meteorz, or any other lore video, I just thought that was the best option if you are just interested only in that theory. Now to a question that I am sure I'll be getting.
"What about the final bosses, Kirby can't be happy while fighting them, and also he can't be that happy while his loved ones were being controlled against their own will, if that elevator scene made him weak enough that he couldn't stop an elevator how could he defeat all the things he has defeated?"
My theory for that is, determination to save the day, kind of weakens the effect of the sadness or he was particularly sad in the elevator scene, for the most of the games, he could have a "I am going to stop bad guy from doing bad guy things and when I do that everything will go back to normal." veiew while in that scene if he didn't go with the elevator he could be to late to save elfline (and also he would leave two, unarmed, waddle dees to go to the guys who putted in cages through the whole game) so I leaving the elevator wasn't that optimal of a choice for him so best he could do is trying to keep the elevator door open as long as possible.
Is it a little far stretched, yes. But is it also fun to think about, for me also yes.

Wait wait, can I hear more about the itachi not using shisui’s eye thoughts? Because honestly, for a character that’s supposed to be a pacifist, itachi seems to be written much more like an Angel of Death esque serial killer?
Uhhhhhhh okay I'll try to get this down before tumblr makes me wanna gouge my eyes out (why is dark mode just as painful to look at as light mode make it stopppp)
-It is very clear that Itachi was originally intended to be a Pure Evil character with different motivations. In Naruto OG we *really* have no reason to think he is anything other than a nutjob who murdered his family and tortured his brother for the lols. NOW. This isn't actually an irredeemable factor for him as a character, with a show as long as Naruto it is perfectly possible to rewrite him and tweak him into a tragic villain or even the tragic hero Kishi wanted us to later believe he was. *IF* proper work is done to explain why the so called pacifist resorted to so much violence.
-Which obviously never explicitly happens even though with how Itachi's backstory is set up it honestly wouldn't be that hard.
-Moving on from the meta perspective may I put forth to you this answer to All the Itachi Questions:
-Danzo.
-No seriously. I already suspected this when I was reading just the fanfic, but actually watching the arc where we see Itachi's spiral there are some Key Things I noticed happening that are literally never mentioned or expanded on that would make Itachi choosing Massacre over Brainwashing make perfect sense.
-Gonna have to backtrack just a bit for this, but when I say that Danzo wanted the Uchiha dead, I *mean he wanted them dead*. Not just in a "the village and the Uchiha were starting to butt heads anyway and he took preemptive murder action" way but like- "intentional years long plan to kill off this entire clan" way.
-One of the big things that fueled the rumor that the Uchiha were at fault for the Kyuubi attack, other than the old story of Madara controlling the Kyuubi, is that the Uchiha were not present for the defense against the Kyuubi. A lot of clans took heavy losses trying to fend the biju off or drive it out of the village until Minato could arrive, but the Uchiha were literally not there, and people got suspicious as to why. The answer is literally Danzo. Fugaku was planning to marshal the Uchiha *because* he hoped he and his clan would be able to mass genjutsu the Kyuubi into being docile, but at the last minute he received orders from *Danzo* through one of his Root, to instead take his clan and.
-Guard the civilian underground shelters and the village outskirts "in case an enemy tries to sneak in in the chaos". I'm sorry but uh. YOUR CHUUNIN COULD DO THAT WHILE THE PEOPLE WITH MIND CONTROL POWERS HELP WITH THE BIJU PROBLEM? But no. Danzo specifically ordered them to the two places they could not help against the Kyuubi and would be mostly out of sight/would be accused of using civilians as an excuse to save their own skins.
-No explanation is ever given to the general populace for why the Uchiha were not there, even though it was a direct order from the man who was, at the time, Sarutobi's known SiC and primary advisor. All Sarutobi would have to do is say 'they were following my orders' and it would clear up. He does not. Which indicates that Sarutobi *possibly* did not even known Danzo did what he did, and the Uchiha never told the Hokage because Danzo is his SiC and this would not be the first time people just assumed Danzo is operating on Sarutobi's orders/permission.
-We see multiple mULTIPLE times in this arc that over the course of literal years, starting from the Kyuubi attack and on to the Massacre, that Danzo was intentionally orchestrating the tension in the village. The isolation of the Uchiha compound wasn't Tobirama, it was Danzo, who had them relocated post the Kyuubi attack for "better reconstruction of the village". They were so far removed they were outside the chakra barrier/radar thing that Pain used Itachi's passcode for in the Pain Arc. That's how far removed they were from the village proper. They were under 24 hr, intense surveillance, cameras on their streets, watch towers hidden around their compound border, cameras even looking *into* the windows of their houses. And they were aware of it, because the Uchiha are not dumb and also have really good vision thank you. They can see that. Their one foundational position in the village, the Police Force, was being forcibly and slowly taken from them with Danzo pushing Sarutobi to insist they take on officers from other clans like Inuzuka and Aburame, and some of their traditional patrol beats were being straight up reassigned to ANBU. You know, the guys who are supposed to be busy assassinating Konoha's enemies, not breaking up bar brawls.
-I could go on with this but if you actually watch that arc and watch Danzo, he is very intentionally *trying* to force the Uchiha to plot a coup. He is trying to get an excuse to kill them all. AND on top of that, we already know he has a sharingan eye already, yes even before Shisui. In fact he steals Shisui's eye because his current one is going blind *presumably from overuse*, which means he's already spent who knows how long subtly influencing/genjutsuing Sarutobi and other high ranked shinobi into looking the other way or agreeing with him on policy stuff.
-Enter *Itachi* and Shisui, who are trying to juggle this entire situation at ages like- 11 and maybe 14 when this starts and later Itachi at a lonely 13 by the end. Every time they come up with advice on how to help lower clan tensions to Sarutobi, Danzo railroads it and makes the situation worse instead. There's literal dialogue for it, where he'll interrupt them or just later on dismiss the idea and bully Sarutobi (who lets himself be bullied) into doing something else that is clearly just going to make the Uchiha madder.
-Somewhere about ... halfway I'd guess? Halfway at the earliest through this train wreck, Itachi gets pulled from Kakashi's ANBU squad and given, by Sarutobi, *to Danzo* and his ROOT shinobi, who at the time were not only known about by Sarutobi but implicitly approved of, they've worked alongside normal ANBU for several missions in the past. So now Itachi, the pacifist, the clan heir, the linchpin to this entire disaster, is directly under the command of Danzo Eye-Stealer and Genjutsu User Shimura, is within his reach and probably in his presence for *long periods of time* to receive orders/get pontificated at. Remember that point.
-Okay so now, NOW we get to Shisui's eye and Itachi not using it. To start with, Itachi was fully on board with Shisui's plan, he *wanted* this plan to work, he and Shisui were gonna meet up, go to the Clan Head, and do the thing. But Shisui, poor naive soul, reported to Danzo first, to inform him that "hey we're going to fix this problem". Danzo's response is to attack Shisui and rip out his eye to replace his now mostly blind current sharingan. Shisui runs, suicide by dramatics yada yada, his dying words are for Itachi to take his remaining eye and DO THEIR PLAN.
-Itachi straight up ... does not do it. In canon there is no actual reason stated. I don't thing we even get Itachi doing a long-winded monologue (which Kishi usually adores doing to kill us with boredom) about why he thinks the plan will fail. Instead we hit a *timeskip* of anything from a few weeks to possibly a few months, and then we have Itachi approaching "Madara" for assistance in the massacre.
-Madara who, iirc, Danzo is also aware of, I believe he bargained with Madara at least once in canon for something but I don't remember where that shows up.
-Funny how the guy who now has a fresh new brainwashing eye suddenly is not going to be responsible for the final blow to the Uchiha. Funny how the 13 year old who is under his direct command and influence goes from wanting to fix the problem without bloodshed to *recruiting a rogue shinobi* to help kill everyone, and then handily removing himself from the village entirely to go spy on the Akatsuki and make himself Konoha's enemy #1 for years to come.
-Funny how no one ever heard the massacre take place, and how the Uchiha compound was already conveniently outside the barrier radar so no one would notice the Uchiha chakra signatures going out en masse.
-Funny, how the first people on the scene of the massacre? Are Danzo and his root agents.
-Funny, isn't it, that the man with years of experience using a stolen eye to influence people in secret suddenly has everything he wants, and the talented but much less experienced *child* directly under his command goes against all his previous ideals of pacifism to do something that will fully benefit Danzo and then removing himself from the situation entirely to serve as a spy against Danzo's other potential problems.
-Funny isn't it that the one thing Itachi loved enough to defy orders for, Sasuke, almost *died* from the trauma of the Tsukuyomi anyway (iirc he was in a coma for a few *days*, but that could be fanon I'm misremembering).
-Funny that, over the years, this one single loose end of Danzo's, this one last thing Itachi would be willing to destroy Danzo for even after all he has done and abandoned, is systematically isolated and then later hunted by a missing ninja who *also* spent a lot of time in the past working for Danzo. Including being able to send the Sound Four in to get him in the heart of the village without any alarms going up in the barrier radar thing. For which Danzo has the codes for his root ninja who are also now not supposed to exist.
-Funny how this one loose end keeps running into circumstances that by rights should either kill him or make him *also* a missing ninja that Konoha should hunt down, and the only thing that keeps Sasuke from being declared an enemy of the village and slaughtered for a bounty is the unanticipated attachment of Tsunade to Naruto, who loves Sasuke enough to beg for clemency for him.
-Funny how one of the *first* things Danzo does after becoming temporary Hokage is put out a bounty on this one boy that survived his plotting and was the only threat left to him from Itachi, even after Itachi has died.
-But sure. It was all Itachi's idea to massacre the clan and never use Shisui's eye to fix the problem. No sir definitely no brainwashing of a baby Uchiha involved there, nope. Nada. What are you talking about. Itachi totally did this all of his own choice and volition.

Hi, I wonder if you have some theory / thoughts about damnatio memoriae ending, losing faith and his (worsen?) mental state.
I'm not Catholic but the connection between mental health and faith is one of my favorite issues to talk about.
Also why Gary tried to make John as the new vessel?
Thanks!
Hey, thank you so much for asking!
I personally see the loss of faith having a few possible explanations! And Gary's focus on John is entirely intentional, both from a mental health standpoint and a general-ish standpoint.
A recap for the general audience (and myself, because I had to look a few things up since it's been a while):
The ending, "A New Vessel" is accompanied by the soundtrack (and text, if I believe) Damnatio Memoriae, which comes to mean a "condemnation of memory", akin to where a person or event is stricken from all official records.
As for the plot of the ending, here's the Wiki's summary -> On the day of the Profane Sabbath, Ward finds his house surrounded by cult members and unlocks the crucifix-riddled door. Inside he confronts Amy, and he begs for the nightmares to end. Amy drags him into her gaping portal, and John finds himself at the abandoned Martin house in complete disrepair, somehow much worse than it was only a month ago. Inside, he discovers that the twins he's been searching for throughout the entire story never existed. Nancy, Amy's mother, miscarried the twins, but was in complete denial of it, going so far as to host a birthday party for them. Eventually, John finds two effigies in their room and succumbs to his despair. Amy and Michael appear and take his hands before a giant demonic hand appears and swallows them up. Then the entire Martin house vanishes.
Please let me know if this needs to be tagged! I also apologize for any grammar errors, I got excited to answer this and I'd just woken up, so my brain isn't all there yet sdjdkdkd—
I'll put my thoughts below the cut, though, because this got more wordy than I'd thought ^^;
In regards to John's deteriorating faith, the explanation for why his faith is so weak/withers so easily is dependent on how the game's plot is interpreted (at least, in my opinion). So, to circle back to some of the points I made in my first solid meta post regarding John [LINK], I'll break down the two primary perceptions.
If assuming everything happening is 100% real and John's perspective is reliable:
It's simply a matter of fighting a losing battle. Seeing your faith be challenged so successfully (re: multiple dead priests, a church taken over by demonic entities, etc) is... a lot!
As someone who's loosely Catholic (vaguely raised, abandoned, and now on the fence of re-converting), the main lesson people are taught is that sin and evil are two very powerful things. They swallow and consume a person. They're what made the world the place it is today, and why humanity could not remain in the Garden of Eden. Of course, the emphasis put on these points and the way they're told is variable on the individual church's belief system (re: the difference between "normal" Catholics and fascist Evangelicals), but that's besides the point.
So John seeing that happen over and over and over, and ultimately failing to save Amy, is just tiring. It's draining. He realizes by the end of Chapter 3 that he's lost, and Gary has won. Gary was right.
However, if assuming that either everything was "in John's head" (lack of better phrasing), or that some things were true but exaggerated by John's mental health:
Then I believe that John's loss of motivation/faith could genuinely be him coming out of an episode and perceiving the gravity of everything.
This is a bit harder to explain given the precursor for this ending is not entering Garyland, and the strongest case could be made by pointing to the fact that, allegedly, John was the one to eviscerate the cultists in the bloodied room... but still. A lot of things happen in Chapter 3 outside of Gary's labyrinth that would weigh heavily on John's consciousness. One of the other most notable circumstances being if he cannot save Lisa from Alu/the cult, and she dies because he (while possessed or in a state of psychosis) ultimately kills her.
That, and there is the idea that John is outright killing the cultists/people he flashes the crucifix to.
Now, before I explain part of that, I just want to say that all cops are shit at their jobs. They protect nobody and often target folk just because they can, and use "self defense" as a way to get out of the repercussions. However, it is interesting that when John raises the crucifix (when exiting the front door of the daycare, opposed to the back entrance), the cops state that he has a gun. Of course, this could be that classic "shoot anything that moves and make a move" mentality, or it could be a genuine observation (after all, they are fictional so there is a chance they have some intelligence).
My disdain for the law aside, the very act of exorcism is a banishment. A damntation of demonic entities back to Hell, where they either are imprisoned (returning to their natural states and unable to re-enter the surface) or executed (if the demon is too weak to presumably recuperate from Christ's intervention/flee to Hell). So, in the assumption that the UNSPEAKABLE really is grasping every cultist's soul... Yeah. They're gone. John has effectively killed the person and, maybe, left behind a husk. A shell of who they were.
And that acts as a segue into the second question:
Why in the hell (pun intended) would Gary want to use a priest as a vessel?
The short answer is that John is, genuinely, the perfect vessel. My understanding of the process is that the victim must be on the younger side, physically healthy, and (most importantly) non-consenting to the process (able to be manipulated and coerced into "consenting").
John is in his early 30s, is pretty healthy minus the achey knee and dormant asthma, and very much non-consenting, seeing as he goes through so much to attempt to stop the UNSPEAKABLE's commanding demon, Gary/Astaroth. Plus him being in active bouts of psychosis makes it so much easier for someone like Gary to affirm the delusions and essentially become the little devil on John's shoulder.
EDIT: I've posted some audio files regarding this! Check it out here [ LINK ]
But aside from that, it comes down to power. Gary wants to demonic rebellion to have influence. To be something that compels people and leaves behind a great legacy.
What better way to do that than take a holy man (assuming John is/was ordained) and make him a tool for the devil?
In context of a cult structure, the move is one of the biggest chess plays Gary can make as a leader.
Cults, especially those with destructive and a religious structure, are hierarchial and authoritative. There is supposed to be no question to what the leader wills. What Gary says should go. That's why he ultimately ended up targeting Lisa. As a failed attempt by Tiffany to make Lisa a vessel (and therefore prove her own worthiness to Gary), she knows too much about the true intentions. She is a flight risk. She's been found to be communicating with John (an extension of the church). People like Lisa are dangerous to the cult's imbalance, as are the ties they have within the greater community.
Which is why, too, John becomes such a pertinent target for Gary (lest we forget one of the Chapter 1 endings has him and his cult confront John on an empty highway).
It all shows that, even if he were not a demon, that he is convincing. That he can wear down at someone with a (presumably) strong conviction and duty to Christ. People would be fools to question him! He must know what he's doing if he can "break" a priest.
TLDR: Gary's entire mentality as a cult leader (and demonic commander) trying to regain control after a critical incident ks
Tumblr media
And this, ultimately, is what is referred to with the idea of Damnatio Memoriae! John is so overshadowed and overtaken (whether by the UNSPEAKABLE, the cult, or his own mind) that he's effectively erased from memory. Him, the twins, Michael, Amy, they all mean nothing in the grand scheme of what would come should the cult succeed in its plan. They were all mere cogs in the machine.

hiii I hope you're having a great day! I'm not kidding when I say that it took several read throughs before I sent this 😭 I was just wondering if you'd mind linking any marvel meta and critiques pertaining to civil war and the accords, endgame, tfatws, tony, peggy, and the way steve and bucky's characters were treated.
context: I'm trying to explain some things to a friend of mine, but I just know there's posts that explain it better than I can. I spent over an hour scrolling through various tags and I really struggled to find my favourites.
I hope this doesn't sound too demanding, and feel free to ignore it if you're busy or you don't want to do it. I'm honestly just hoping you have some kind of folder where you keep them all! if you do, though, I would love if you included your own posts, because yours are some of the best ones I've read.
anyway, wishing you the best 💖
I admit this makes me super happy because, it's like even the internet friends know I'm a folder person! I do have a lot CACW and Endgame meta even offline folder saved lol.
I don't know if there is any specific arguments or points you and your friend are discussing to direct at? Let me know!
Here's what I have that applies in my current bookmarks, except LewtonBus which I think are articles for self examine and not to bring to discuss in rebuttals with friends, because there is really good stuff in them to ponder but, they are thesis' I'm not 100% subscribed too.
Also I can't rec enough the blogs of @thehollowprince, @robotmango, @monardarmmm, @fearlessinger, @chirping_tiger, @kateis_cakeis, @laporcurina, @cosmicmechanism, @keire-ke. I've scoured there tags and takes and loved so much if it.
STUCKY & Endgame
https://bamsmackpow.com/2019/04/30/avengers-endgame-lack-of-closure/
This is my defining WTF Endgame article. I don't see how anyone can argue against it. There is no explanation or reasoning to give out to the obvious and intentional erasure of Steve and Bucky out of Endgame's story narrative and why it doesn't fucking matter if you like the ship or the characters at all, erasing them, denying it, failed the set up of the story structure and the basics of arc complete writing.
The Stucky Essay - bilittlebarnes - Captain America (Movies) [Archive of Our Own]
This essay is so good. I was drawn in by it's argument on the "Bucky is alive!" moment of Endgame critic, because it highlights that the movie itself knows Stucky makes more narrative sense and importance and therefore uses it, but of course won’t let it be acknowledged. America’s ass is on display, just not the one they think.
The Silence of Peggy Carter. Peggy Carter was founder and Director… | by Summer Barbeau | Medium
I'm being really critical of Peggy's character being so beloved lately, examining my past defense of, but I think this article is the bomb on why Endgame's Steggy is dismissive of the pairing and characters whether you like them or not. An ending that devalues and silences your partner for romance is a fail.

TFATWS
‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’ & The Myth of Nonviolence | by Alex Mell-Taylor | An Injustice! (aninjusticemag.com)
I know it might not run in pop circles to my friends list but I'll say I agree with most if not all of the Mooler's breakdown of TFATWS.

In that Karli read more villain than John Walker to me, despite show intent, and it needs massive overhaul, because it's message sucked in many many ways. And I thought Sam and Bucky did come of as morally wrong and kinda massive jerks in comparison to Walker, as did the ethics of the Flagsmashers, the Dora.
That doesn't mean I've any love or interest in the John Walker character independently, as Jessica Jones season 1 did that style story better...it's a story meh in comparison to what I want which is a focused Sam story...and I certainly have no love or respect for Zemo's addition likewise. Where to go with the Captain America stories and ethics of the characters is so f'ed right now.

Fanfic writer ask game: 4, 8, 15, 16, 18
4. Do you prefer writing multi-chapter or oneshot fanfictions?
It really rather depends. Writing multi-chapter stories is certainly a lot more stressful (the sad line of my old dropped attempts rather showcase that).
But at the same time my longer stories do bring me bigger amounts of joy I guess. I get INVESTED in them.
But I also love writing short little drabbles that are like me baking a cookie, instead of a line of cakes. So I guess I like writing both, it's just about what I'm in the mood for.
8. What kind of document do you use to you write? Microsoft Word? Google Docs? Straight in the AO3 text box?
No, I'm a true savage, I write straight on Tumblr and make frequent use of 'save as draft' (I have an explanation to this, I used to write more TV show meta posts when I joined the hellsite, and I got so used to this particular font, in this particular size, on this particular background that writing anywhere else gets so distracting I might as well give up).
I do last edits in AO3 drafts though 🥺 that makes everything okay, right?
15. Are there words, phrases, mannerisms or scenes you tend to use a lot?
Ugh, the bane of my existence is how when I write and come up with a word that fits, the word somehow gets stuck in my mind and I'll find it used again two paragraphs down. And I don't notice until I do a reread aloud in editing. At which point I tend to google a bunch of synonyms.
Also: 'burst into laughter', 'choked back her tears', 'swallowed past the stone in her throat'. Also also my characters tend to raise their eyebrows and roll their eyes a lot, I think.
16. How long is your longest fic?
31'060 words as of yesterday, She's Come Undone and Set Free. Who knew how invested I'd get into letting Elena be angry; having Caroline dealing with her s1 trauma; making TVD era Rebekah get actual friends; and (most recently) giving Bonnie a properly interesting love interest *cough*Rebekah*cough*. (I already knew I could get invested in Elejah, that one wasn't a surprise).
18. Recommend someone else fic! (And tag them if they have a tumblr!)
This question is confusing but I'll take it to mean I should recommend someone else's fic to everyone who reads this.
Okay. I'm gonna narrow it down to TVD/Legacies fics because that's what I'm recently writing myself and if I don't put some kind of theme limit I'll get a headache.
We Remain by AnonymousObsesser - Elejah, starts during American Gothic and then goes a completely different way (I have read the first three chapters at least 5 times, the Elejah feelings are seriously top-notch).
A Year to Eternity? by @missnmikaelson - Elejah, Klaroline, a bit of Bonnie/Kol, a bit of Handon - Starts out during 5x12 of The Originals. But with TVD had a different ending (Elena isn't married to certain people for example and I love it). Neither Elijah, nor Klaus die because that's stupid (Caroline yells a bunch at Klaus about it, Elena's blood is always the magic cure we should all know this: "To seal the Hollow away we need the willing support of Elena Gilbert." Amusement sparkled in his eyes. "I'm asking about your knees, Nik, because you're about to grovel on them.").
plastic crown by @jennifersminds - Elejah but not as the focus, the focus is Elena runs away from the Salvatores (Rebekah gives her a car, Elena ends up in Vegas, I honestly don't know how to describe it, the story just has a very unique imagery) and tries to build herself back up. Trauma. Vengeance. Female friendship. Strip clubs and slight bit of vampiric serial killing. Oh, just read it, you'll understand.
(I think the three above mentioned fics can probably be blamed for me starting to write She's Come Undone).
tis the season for a kidnapping by @vorpalmuchness - Elejah, Elena gets kidnapped by a couple of idiots whose information is a BIT out of date (they call Elijah and expect gratitude is what I mean, those poor poor morons). And I LOVE it.
being unwanted (and wanting too much); by @natalia-dyer - Post s4 Hizzie, basically Lizzie coming to her great lesbian awakening/acceptance of self as she realizes why none of the guys were ever quite right.
Torn by the hours by @isagrimorie - (if you don't think I absolutely love that fic, you are WRONG, it lives in MY head rent free). Hizzie, with Lizzie waking up in the middle of the battlefield where Hope has pulled a full on massacre because she thought Lizzie was dead? I am RABID for this scene.
(okay, it's possible I overdid it a lil'bit).

“I don’t know what you see in him.”, is probably a line that many people say to Zatanna about her dating Constantine. Give us the lowdown on why they actually work well together.
This ask confuses me a little bit because Zatanna and John haven't been together in years, and has rather been an on and off dynamic DC has been pulling There's actually no explanation on how they started dating, but there's numerous references to them having a relationship on their earlier days. (One day I'll get into the mess that is the timeline because no writer has ever decided in what period that relationship took place)
But I mostly see that the chemistry relies on how different and yet how similar they are. Both are often afraid to let people into their lives due to what comes with getting involed with everything that has to do with magic. They are both seen to have numerous partners (though with Zee is less specific, since writers have rarely tried to develop her love interests), but there's always the underlying feeling that magic shenanigans will come to ruin things around them, reason for what they often feel of themselves as unworthy so many times
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are both also selfless they are to a degree. When it comes to Zee, this feature shows on how she's pressuring herself to do the right thing, to be a valuable member of the superhero community and to keep up to level left by the Zatara name. As a leader, she puts her hands on the fire for everyone else in order to save everyone. She feels like she needs to carry the world on her shoulders.
Now, I know "selfless" is a weird word to use with Constantine with the general public. Truth is that Constantine has saved the world numerous times. He doesn't have the obligation to do so, he just gets involved "because someone has to do it". Sure, I don't disagree that he hasn't got selfish moments, but it's something to think about how someone who has last lost so much keeps trying to save the world. His current cynicism seems to be a result for past hope.
While JLD vol. 1 (New52) made...choices on how to protray their dynamic (ex: to put them at each others' throats for some reason when they were in good terms in Post Crisis, hiring Peter Milligan's, the person who character assasinated Constantine in the last Hellblazer run, to write his initial characterisation on that book, etc, etc), I feel that anything from Rebirth and forward has tried to fix their interactions in a way.
It shows that John rathers leave leadership to Zatanna, he recognises her capacity as a magician and Zatanna relies on John in decisions' she isn't able to do. I feel like that's a great compliment between each other.
I would love to see them dating on page, because as for now they've been in a constant "will they, won't they?" For years. I do not think of them of them as a endgame couple though, due to the reasons stated in earlier paragraphs. None of them seem as the type to settle down and I can see them staying at friends after that.
Note: I absolutely despise the conception of some JohnZee shippers have (and even JohnZee antis) of John somehow needing to be fixed by Zatanna (which is ooc, misogynistic and ableist in many degrees). I'm leaving this heads up because a lot of people really misunderstand the reasoning behind the ship.
I hope I could explain it well enough, I don't often write meta on relationships so excuse me if I get a bit carried away.

Everything about Mary's ninja adventure in CAM's office feels weird, your explanation makes so much sense. I missed your Sherlock posts!
Now... A little spoiler on your new meta? 😁
Thanks, anon! I have a few things in the works; fun fact about tumblr drafts... once you have over 700 of them (shhh, I know), they start temporarily disappearing, and will not resurface until you reduce the number of drafts. I think I have everything back now, but I'm also just cutting my way through that content, which is mostly stuff I saved to read later.
So, to answer your question, I'm guessing I'll post a tiny BBC Dracula thing (with no conclusion! love those!) this week, followed by a thing on TAB and The Final Problem.

Number 10 for O, Number 2 for Miles 2.0 ;)
10. What is your favorite trait regarding your oc?
This is a good question. For Orsinio, I'd say it's his resilience.
He's been through so much with Nemesis, Hell, the Discordance, a narrow brush with smen, and so on. He carries a grief not only for his brother but his lost connection to home and the person he used to be. He's done things he isn't proud of (he killed all 3 major rivals in Nemesis) and there are people along his path that he wasn't able to save that he blames himself for, and he's Catholic, so he has issues with guilt as well.
It would be easy for him to give up. At the point of his character journey where he was tempted by seeking, it would have been easy to surrender to it. Without getting into the grit of his struggles with mental illness, it's a surprise he hasn't spent longer in the Royal Beth. It's easy to indulge reckless/self-destructive behaviors instead of confronting emotions and trying to be better. There comes a critical point in his character arc where he gets a wake up call and makes the choice to stop running from his past, make peace with it, and move forward. Grief and guilt are part of him but do not define him, and he deserves to make a nice story for himself despite being cast in a tragedy. Healing is far more difficult and powerful than any temptation he could have given into.
It would be easy for him to be ruthless. It would be easy to stop feeling bad and lean fully into the violence that he knows he's capable of from Nemesis. He's smart and skilled enough with magic that he could be cruel indeed to get what he wants. But at the end of the day, despite everything, he still tries to do what he thinks is the right thing. He is a morally gray character with a greater good mentality, but when it ultimately comes down to making a decision, he's inclined to do what will keep his loved ones safest. He's made mistakes in the past and he's seen a lot of horror, but he still chooses to be kind. He loves boldly in a world that says love is weakness or currency. Even after all Miles did to him (which is another story, all you need to know right now is that Miles was the seeker doing the tempting), he still lets them crash at his place when they're in need. He sometimes thinks of himself as a bad person, but he very much is not. (Sometimes, murder is okay.)
I'll cut it here because otherwise I wouldn't stop talking about my special boy, but I just love how he never gives up and chooses to be good despite how easy it would have been to slip into being a villain.
2. Why does your oc look the way they do? What are your reasons for their appearance?
This one requires some brief explanation first. So on a meta level, I had Miles as my seeker character who knocked, and after a few months I decided I missed them too much so I made a new account for them. But the in-universe explanation for why they're back is because of some hand-wavey discordance doubling that I won't get into right now, that's for another post. Is this really the same Miles? What does it mean to be yourself? Also for another post.
Miles has blonde hair because I thought it would be funny for my villain character after getting too annoyed at Victorian era obsession with light hair/features. Their eyes were once sapphire dark but have since lightened to a more glacial blue color. They're very tall and thin and I say shaped like a spaghetti noodle. Femme presenting because it's my OC and I get to make them gender.
They've fairly recently returned to London, at rock bottom. There's a frostbite scar across their cheeks, and their hair is short from when they cut it towards the end of SMEN. They'll be growing it out long again, like they prefer. And, they have one white streak from the experience to match with the Professor, though you'd have a hard time finding it with how light their hair already is.
A final note: Miles 1.0 did the Mr Cards HD ending. Once again, that's another post, but as a result, they still have sharp teeth and pointed ears. Most of their scars from SMEN are gone, however. They are not the Miles who knocked. They have plenty of scars though from other ocs committing violence against them for being terrible

Finally made one of those Carrd things here: https://skyllion.carrd.co/
Title is from a Family Guy meme
Extra Tumblr-exclusive things:
@sky-kinz (Webkinz blog)
@blakeworther (Dinoverse blog)
@skyllion-oc-archive (OC blog)
@sprinkle-stardust (Bailey's blog) This is a blog for my OC, Bailey! It takes place a couple years before the second half of Round and Round We Go, meaning she's about 15, doesn't know about the timeloops, and only knows Jaxon, Robin, Holmes, and Adrienne. She can't see any meta things, such as my OC blog or any tags I make about her, and she thinks Tumblr is broken because she doesn't see a follow button for anyone's blog. Feel free to ask her questions and stuff!
@mx-mind (post limit alt; follows, likes, comments from @skyllion-owo)
@skyllion-fashion-inspo (fashion stuff I save for character stuff like my OCs and my designs of Batman characters)
NSFW blog (18+ mutuals may message me for the name, minors and non mutuals please don't ask me for it. Mostly just me rambling about stuff I feel like I can't post on my main)
Tags I use under the cut
-I make a lot of commentary. If you want to, feel free to screenshot them and rb as it's own thing. I just ask you add an image description to it, either with one under the screenshot or as alt text
-I do trigger/content warnings as "#tw [thing]". Will tag suggestive content as "#suggestive" and explicit content as "#nsft" (I do not post porn).
-AI generated art (NeuralBlender, Dall E Mini, etc) goes under "ai generated". I don't tag informational posts on it that include examples since that's important
-Reblog for thing to happen goes under "superstitious post" and "rb bait". I ACCIDENTALLY TAGGED OLD ONES AS "SUSPICIOUS POST" SO BLOCK THAT TOO JUST IN CASE
-Fake news usually has an explanation in the tags that it's not real. Joking misinformation is tagged "joking misinfo". I use "tw unreality" on general stuff like something isn't real. Lemme know if I need to expand it to include more things!
-Things that are mentioned don't have a tw before it (for example, "suicide mention" is the most common example).
-suggestive vs. nsfw mention vs nsft: suggestive insinuates something NSFW. nsfw mention says something in passing. NSFT goes in detail.
-"#artistic nudity" is for pics with nudity that aren't sexual
-Please feel free to ask for tags so you can filter stuff out. I can either use a personal tag for you or if it's a common trigger I will use the same format across tags.
-"#sky screams into the void" are personal ramblings.
-"#sky vents like amogus" is specifically for venting. I almost always have rbs for these turned off, but you can like or comment unless stated otherwise. Please feel free to filter this out
-"#asks for sky" are asks. I also put the username of the submitter or "anon" if submitted anonymously
-"#cool trinkets and tchotchkes for sky" are for submitted posts! Same naming conventions for asks apply
-"#down in the deep queue sea" is my queue tag. That's right I'm using the queue now!!
-"#sky writes something" is my writing!!
-"#skyllion art" is my art!!
-"#rubber ducking with mica" is my programming tag (for games)!!
-"#skys doodly doodles" are low effort doodles I feel don't warrant the art tag
-"#micas rambling reactions" are my reactions liveblogged whenever I start a piece of media. I will tag with spoilers when necessary (eg. tag spoilers for new Deltarune chapters but wouldn't tag for Undertale since the latter media is old and widely known what happens)
-"#skyllion ocs" are original posts about my OCs!!
-Speaking of OCs, I love the Blorbos from My Brain! Thus, I'll sometimes tag stuff with these names: Jaxon, Robin, Holmes, Charles/Chuck, Bailey, Adrienne, Etienne, Shiko, Neil, Katsumi/Ryousei (formerly named Kami, so older posts will have that), Alina, Junko, Seoyeon/Trixy, Hasedonia, The Sun King (might be tagged Julius), Evanthe, Pyrite, Ophelia, Lila, Horace, Aiden, Betty Cassie, Talia, Willow, Andrew (name pending), Hunter (name pending), Eden, Mark, and Sky (written as "Sky (sona)"; they're a self insert version of myself in my stories). Fan OCs are less commonly tagged but they're Dahlia (Dinoverse OC), Nettle (Flower Kid from Smile for Me), Bee Batson (AU version of Billy Batson/Shazam), and Nova Armstrong or The Black Hole (DC/Batman OC). Feel free to ask about said OCs because I feel awkward randomly talking without people asking
-"#references" are just useful things/stuff I want to save. I'll tag things that don't apply to me but may be useful to others with this too; feel free to go through and rb what you need/want
-"#posts that if i had to see so do you" are cursed posts. I trigger warning these too but block this if you wish to spare yourself
-"#ask games" are ask games. Feel free to copy/paste a question if you wanna ask (don't just say a number though because it may be an old post and will confuse me)
-"#save for mom/my sister" is what it says on the tin. No need to worry much about this one but you get a glimpse into my offline life
-"#lorenzocore" or something involving Lorenzo is an inside joke OC with me and my sister. He loves soup and that's all you need to know. It's soup stuff
-Anything referring to Kokomo is a reference to another joke OC. We don't speak of that evil demon. His lore is very complicated and too much for a simple intro post

Deltarune Chapter 2 Theory
DELTARUNE SPOILERS AHEAD
I'll put under a read more, but just in case it doesn't work. Here's your warning to block "#delatrune spoilers" or scroll really fast.
Spoilers for end game and bonus boss, and a long ass dump of all the ideas I have in my head before I forget them. So, sorry if I got anything wrong or it's a mess.
I've seen a lot of theories flying around, but haven't seen this one yet. (Sorry if it is already out there and I just haven't seen it, I'm sure somebody will already have put it together better than me.) This is just some funky ideas I've been throwing around, because I'll be honest here, I love the main 3 so much, and would be sad to see any of them turn out to be evil like so many theories are suggesting.
Maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic, maybe it's the weird nb kid deep inside me latching onto a kindred spirit, maybe I'm on to something.
So here's the thing. I don't believe Kris is the knight.
I know, I know, but stay with me here.
There's no denying that at the end of the chapter, Kris created a new fountain, and with it, likely a new dark world. But I'd like to argue, this is the first one they've created. My evidence is shaky, but I think there's something there that could blossom.
I'll start off with the simple fact that multiple characters who have met the knight, Spades King especially, didn't recognise Kris at all, and you would have thought they'd recognise the person who's been feeding them so much information. You do also have a couple of dialogue options with the king this time, and definitely with the Queen, so it seems strange that neither of them recognise the voice of their Knight in shining armour.
This is where stuff starts to get a bit flaky, but also, a lot more intriguing.
At the end of the chapter Kris opened a fountain, and the night before, we saw Kris remove the soul inside them and brandish their knife. Assuming that Kris spent that time without the soul creating a fountain is a fair assumption to make, and I think it's possible that was Kris's intention, perhaps they have some connection to the knight, and knew how the fountains could be opened. But, they were missing one important ingredient.
In Chapter 2 we get an explanation from the Queen about how dark fountains are created, and with it a word that has largely been missing from Deltarune.
Tumblr media
That's right, good old Determination.
Fountains are created when a determined Lightner plunges a sharp object into the ground. And here's where the theory comes in. I believe prior to the end of chapter 2, Kris didn't have Determination. Throughout the game, they've been filled with various sources of power, from Fluffy Boys and Mean Girls, to Cat signs. But at every save point we've been missing the signature Determination.
The closest we get is at the end of Chapter 2, just before the fight against the queen, when "a certain power" is alluded to.
Tumblr media
And that lack of Determination, would have made opening the fountain impossible for them, after all, Queen spent the whole game building Noelle's determination high enough to open a new fountain. A smidge of determination doesn't seem to cut it.
So how did Kris get the determination?
Through the good old power of Friendship. Through the trials with their new friends, Kris has gained determination, even without the soul inhabiting them. And even though that started as half a joke (only half), whilst writing this post and trying to find screencaps, for the next section, I realised it's actually more likely than I suspected.
And that brings me to everyone's new favourite:
Tumblr media
Spamton. During his dialogue and initial boss fight he offers a deal, rewarding Kris with [[Hyperlink Blocked]] if they accept. As far as I'm aware you're forced to accept the deal. (If anyone else tolerated more than a few minutes of smashing no deal like I did and managed to get a different outcome, kudos to your perseverance.)
What is [[Hyperlink Blocked]]? Well I'm sure you can guess where I'm going with this. I believe it may well be Determination or something similar.
During the initial confrontation, Spamton refers to the players Soul as [[HeartShapedObject]].
Tumblr media
But prior to the boss fight against Spamton NEO, he has no qualms about saying SOUL.
Tumblr media
I've seen a lot of people theorising Spamton is being censored, and I agree that definitely seems to be the case. From a meta standpoint though I think it's interesting that the [[Hyperlink Blocked]] he mentioned so much in his first encounter doesn't seem to be mentioned at all, now the he has slightly more freedom of speech. I personally believe it's because revealing whatever Spamton was offering would have given too much away.
So how does this come back to the power of friendship? Well, upon defeating Spamton, whether through ACTing or beating the crap out of him, he realises the real treasure was the friends we made along the way.
He suggests that together, the three of them could "break their own strings"
Tumblr media
Following the fight, there's a moment, where Susie notices that Kris is acting out of sorts. Whichever option you choose, it's obvious that Kris is shaken by the event, even going as far as to yell the answer if you let them admit how they're feeling.
The similarity to Kris's own situation, being puppeted by the player is a valid reason for the response. Whatever shook them did so with enough effect that the fear showed despite the players control. Either that, or Kris has something they didn't have, more control. More... Determination to overcome the soul.
That last part is reaching a little, which is saying something, given the amount of shaky evidence presented in this post, so I want to wrap this up mostly with something slightly unrelated, but still a Kris theory.
Why do they open the fountain?
There are a lot of theories, about being a pawn for Gaster, being an asshole, etc.
I'd like to think Kris is just a weird kid who's gotten caught up in a mess they don't really understand. They created a scenario where Susie would be forced to stay the night, and opened up a new dark world, that Susie, their friend, expressed a want for before they left the dark world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A place where they could get away from their lives for a little while and have more adventures together. And I can understand the reasoning, opening a new fountain isn't bad, I mean, as long as they close it at the end, nobody gets hurt and they have more memories. Where's the harm in that? Right?
As much as Kris obviously wishes to be free of the soul's control, that very soul has helped them make real friends. It's taken them on adventures and well.
Tumblr media
Somebody had to let it out before the morning.
So to summarise, the strongest power known to man is a group of lonely teenagers, if you run through a peaceful game murdering everything and then blame a video game character for the decision you made, I'll kick your ass, and I guess I'm a Kris stan now, oh god.

yo fyi the tumblr overlay stuff is overwriting the search box and search button. Anyway today's dual is Dragon of Storm (BardThief of BreathHope) and I'd love to hear any examples you can think of that specific classpect in media
on point 1: so i fixed that, and then out of curiosity i went and checked my feedback form - turns out there were eight unread responses, ope. and turns out there was a massive bug and subtraction just. didnt work right.
so i fixed those, and then i added a fixed navbar, and that caused all SORTS of issues but it looked better so blargh but anyway. The Website Has Been Updated (which is also, the tumblr! i dont know how tumblr works but if you go to the full page the changes are there too). Now the site has like, a better navbar??? this took way too long to be worth it lmfao
Also most of the replies to the form was about Homesturdle. One day I will get back to the Homesturdle^2 update that I had planned, but that day is, "i don't want to learn typescript" days away lol
anyway
ON DUALS (alicorn theory primer)
Dual Classpects are a couple of things. They're a system to give funky names to sprite-fused Homestuck characters, they're a way to make cool sounding titles, but it's also mostly today's XKCD.
Tumblr media
In the case of today (April 23, 2022), we're gonna be playing around with Dragon of Storm.
DRAGON OF STORM
Tumblr media
(yeah i know the website is a lil janky rn. if anyone has suggestions for a logo n stuff hmu)
Anyway. Dragon of Storm. The search page says that a Dragon of Storm is made out of ThiefBard of BreathHope, so to get a Dragon of Storm you could do a few things.
Number one is that you grab a Bard of Breath and a Thief of Hope, and sprite-fuse them together. This is the original way Dual Classpecting worked, and I think it's fairly understandable. Bam, two people, now one person. New classpect.
The other way to do it is through Alicorn Theory, which is not for this post in terms of an in-depth explanation, but I'll do a brief rundown here. Basically, what if alicornhood is achieved through doing character growth Really Really Good, like, triumphing over your classpect + a bonus one.
Tumblr media
For the purpose of this post, we'll be looking at making an alicorn out of a Thief of Hope -- Peter Quill, from GOTG2.
Peter's whole thing is that he's been actively taken from places, but that gives him new opportunities, new hopes. There's more to this classpecting, but I'll save it for a larger post on the Hope aspect (most of what I'd say in it can be viewed here). For now, let's take it as granted and move on.
Tumblr media
(Special thanks to @nihilistic-janitor for being the driver of like 70% of this blog's meta and for being just generally fucking awesome. This would not exist without them.)
To become fully realized as a Dragon of Storm, he needs to overcome the challenges of both his inverse classpect (Page of Rage) AND the bonus secondary one (the inverse of Bard of Breath, Maid of Blood). This actually fits GOTG vol2 kinda perfectly.
Peter's big new struggle in this film kinda IS that of a Maid of Blood. He just found out about a new, like, literal biological part of him, but it's also a new familial relationship that drives the film's conflict. He has to overcome this, become a Bard of Breath (one who passively destroys thru and is passively destroyed by freedom/youth/innocence/travel), leave Ego behind, and be with his team.
He also achieves Page of Rage in this film - like, the giant pacman is. i mean. like. come on.
right???? gamers????????
anyway
By the end of the film, once he's finally at his like, Character Growth Achieved moment, that's a Dragon of Storm, I tell ye. I declare it.
but, yeah! that's basically it for that ask. this post deleted itself halfway thru typing it and i had to redo it, so, like, lol
if anyone else has asks they wanna submit, always feel free! and thank you to all the new followers :D im pleased as hell to see people like the work i put in, and i wanna make it better!

Mac Ever After Metas
(With a bonus Lily Story doll of Bradán!)
(Warning: long post)
Tumblr media
Don't have any art at the moment so here's some metas I had for the Mac x Ever After High crossover au I've been playing with, divided into Character Metas and Story Metas. Enjoy!
Character Metas
Macgyver characters at EAH:
Mac: Professor Angus Mac Cumhaill (pronounced mack-cool), the latest Fionn Mac Cumhaill and the Science and Spells teacher at EAH. Has received several warnings over "accidentally" blowing up parts of his lab (infinite wisdom but he's still kinda a dumbass). Is generally the preferred science teacher of the students. Is also nicknamed Blondie, presumably for the irony (because Fionn just means light haired).
Jack: Sir Jack Dinadan, the latest Sir Dinadan of Arthurian legend. He runs a home security business located in Bookend that serves many of the area's royalty. There's rumors that he's the mysterious "boyfriend" that Professor Mac has mentioned in passing but no student has ever seen. Got turned into a stag once, did not enjoy it, Mac just laughed at him.
Riley: professor of experimental fairy math by day, white hat hacker by night. The next Paul Bunyan (she hacks trees). Was previously rumored to be dating professor Mac before he put the rumor to rest and mentioned the infamous boyfriend. She helps Jack with his business by testing security systems for their hackability
Bozer: Drama teacher, professor Mac's best friend, role unknown. He's the faculty advisor for the costume department during play/musical season. Might be Dr. Coppelius??
Matty: advisor to the Royal Student Council by day, leader of the Phoenix Round Table team by night. The current Goll Mac Morna (aka the guy who killed Fionn's dad) with the Phoenix as the Fianna. She's actually still in charge even though it should technically be Mac cause of the story but he wants to be in the field more than he wants to be the leader at HQ (Oversight doesn't exist in this one cause he actually did get killed and instead Sam and Desi taught Mac how to improvise).
Sam: witchness management 101 teacher, is Druid mom from Fionn Mac Cumhaill (played more of a protective older sister role in this telling)
Leanna: creative storytelling teacher, Bozer's girlfriend, role unknown
Desi: works at Jack's security firm, is Warrior mom from Fionn Mac Cumhaill (played more of a protective older sister role in this telling)
Murdoc as that one bad dude that cursed Fionn's wife? Fer Doirich? Maybe? Plot twist he's the one that cursed Jack temporarily ("When I said I was going stag tHIS ISNT WHAT I MEANT MURDOC!")
Nikki: offscreen character cause she already completed her role as Sadhbh and got turned back into a deer, was in love with Mac but left to complete her story and because she wasn't ready for the married life (which. Fair enough I suppose)
Bradán: Mac and Nikki's kid aka the next Oisín; he showed up in the Enchanted Forest one day while Mac was gathering potion ingredients. Approx. 7 years old (Nikki left about 8 years in the past and he would have been born sometime in that first year) and more than a little feral but he's learning. Can escape pretty much anything (Jack wants to put a bell on him cause he keeps escaping to visit Mac). Is learning English and asl congruently because he wasn't really taught how to speak before coming to Mac.
Some Dialogue Snippets:
Mac: No Brady you can't have a knife, they're dangerous.
Brady: but daaaddd! Papa Jack says you gave a knife to a monkey once!
Mac: one) that was a monkey, if it gets hurt it doesn't matter as much to me as if you get hurt, and two) that was a Swiss army knife. You had a SHIV. One of those is significantly more dangerous than the other in your hands
Mac: Brady you really need to stop ditching Jack; he knows I don't mind you visiting me, he'll bring you over if you want him to.
Brady: yeah but sneaking out is more fun!
Mac: *sigh* I know but you're gonna give him a heart attack one of these days and then he won't give either of us cuddles
Brady: ....no Papa Jack cuddles?
Mac: nope
Brady: ....ok maybe I'll let him bring me over
Mac: that's my boy. Now let's blow some stuff up
Brady: YAY!!!
Alternately--
Mac: stop that
Brady: shan't
Story Metas:
(or, how the plot of Mac Ever After goes)
Slice of life story featuring Mac finding Bradán and learning how to raise him, but before we reach the end--psych! This is still action adventure and now eah is under attack. Again. Not sure on a villain yet, maybe Captain Hook? Murdoc as Mac's villain gone hardcore? Not a wonderlandian again there's been too many. Anyways the school's under attack and now Mac and Jack have to do their thing (probly with help from Riley and the others from outside) and save all the students, teachers, themselves and Brady. The students get out with the help of Arion's little magic pool (portals are closed but the villain didn't realize this one existed and so didn't think to check if it was closed) and the power of merpeople kisses (Arion and the other mers kiss each non-aquatic student so they can breathe underwater; Tempis goes first as a guinea pig and so she can warn Pacifica that they're coming cause the telescreen is down). Meanwhile the teachers are fighting goons, Mac's improvising and Jack's guarding the kids. But towards the trail end of the kids suddenly they get attacked and Brady gets taken by the villain themself, with Jack helpless to stop it. (Cue super emotional moment where for the first time Brady calls Jack Papa but it's while he's being torn kicking and screaming from the man himself.) Mac comes in immediately after to find several very shaken up kids (who he tells to continue leaving and not to stop until every last kid is out) and a distraught Jack. Cue another emotional moment where Mac affirms that Jack isn't at fault for Brady's kidnapping and that he IS Brady's Papa just as much as Mac is the kid's Dad. They vow to get their kid back by any means necessary and start making a plan while the other kids continue leaving. Arion and Anteros are the last to leave, with a passionate life-affirming kiss of course, so now it's just the teachers, the villain/minions, and Bradán caught in the middle of it all. All the teachers plus Jack bind together and come up with a plan that involves several distractions, more than a few explosions, and Mac and Jack personally fighting the villain, which they do and succeed. Now cue the heart warming moment when they gather Brady in their arms and just. Just hold him. Their little family has been through a lot in a few hours it's what they deserve. They then go to work fixing the comm room so they can start sending messages, starting with Pacifica and then extending to the families of the students.
Meanwhile speaking of Pacifica, Tempis arrives breathless to tell King Aeolus about the attack and the mass of teenagers coming for the kingdom, to which he responds by immediately making accommodations for all of them. Arion meanwhile leads everyone home, where they're welcomed warmly and given temporary tails by the court alchemists so they'll be a little more comfortable. Arion finds and hugs his dad and stepmom tightly, needing the comfort (they've all been through an ordeal and his parents are right there, can you blame him?), and then sheepishly introduces his boyfriend to them for the first time (possible subplot from earlier about meeting the parents). Soon the telescreen crackles to life and shows Mac and Jack with Brady, banged up but grinning in relief that the fight is over and that comms are back up. They explain the situation, when it should be close to resolved, and thank the king profusely, to which he informs them that HE should be thanking THEM for sending his son back home safely to him. Everyone's happy and relieved to be safe and go back to ever after high and the day is saves thanks to the Powerpuff girls--wait. Wrong show.
