Jacket!!!! Ye olde varsity I got at the very beginning of my transition thinking "Oh fuck yes I am going to pass so hard in this" and. Well. It never worked I just have never passed a day in my life I don't think 😔 Eventually it just became a beloved test subject and has since gone through a bit of a transition itself LMFAOO
Some Notes:
> A lot of the decorations are taken from old backpacks I loved dearly that got absolutely fucking destroyed by the weight of all the shit I'd lug around in highschool LMFAO (sketchbook, diary, all kinds of notebooks...). Never had the heart to get rid of them. Specifically: The pink zippers, the holographic pockets, the glow in the dark stars, and the holo angel wings!
> The pink/blue checkers are from a small decorative quilt I thrifted years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if it was handmade (it's super soft material, btw! Important LMAO). I only took out one line of squares, I plan on stitching the rest of it back together (haven't done it yet though LMFAO). The reason for this was to upsize the jacket, so I can button it without it clinging. The pockets were added for funsies ESP cause it lined up very well and aren't really practical LMFAO (BUT YOU CAN PUT THINGS IN THEM! If you want!! 🎉🎉🎉)
> The patches (esp the name/pronouns one) were the first additions actually. Eventually more and more things were added, but I will say all the pins on the opposite side of the patches were haphazardly placed for a concert I VERY BADLY wanted to look good for LMFAOO (that's when the stars were added too! Fighting for my life on the car ride over speedrunning sewing and trying not to throw up about it AHAKHSKSHDK)
> Spike placement may be odd and I'd like to add more, but also I do frequently still carry around big heavy backpacks so I have to take that into consideration. Which is also why the wings have been bolted on. Those motherfuckers are NOT going anywhere LMFAO (has a really cool visual effect too!!)
> The material of the jacket itself (sort of a swishy windbreaker fabric) IS ABSOLUTE ASS TO WORK WITH. BY THE FUCKING WAY. IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING. I would NOT recommend it to anybody ESPECIALLY someone who is just starting to fuck around and find out. I literally am just sticking it out bc of the sentimental value this fucker has to me 😭😭😭
This jacket was my first plunge into customization and punk fashion, I didn't have a plan and still don't have one (and I think it kind of shows lmfao). I do worry that it's too soft and cutesy. Kind of the whole point for me, when it came to leaning heavy into punk, was to feel sharper, like I had some bite to me. I might be getting closer, but I think I'm still just kind of a silly guy LMAO. But, I do think in a way, esp as my first project, it represents me well -- where I started, what I loved before the beginning, what I tried desperately to be, what I still wish for, reuniting with the things I loved and embracing them in a brand new context. It's still an ongoing project too! So maybe as I keep growing, it'll grow alongside me, maybe finding that grit I've been striving for along the way.
#the big concert was mcr. btw. and cause it was a stadium no one got to see the glowy stars anyway LMFAOOOOO#for that concert i desperately wanted to have a big piece inspired by house of wolves on the back.#but i have never been able to get it right.#but like. it is actually my favorite mcr song. i REALLY wanted to do something transgender w it too.#like tell me i'm a bad man. i AM a bad man. bad man in the context of the song AND bad man as in. in the eyes of the observer.#i am just doing it poorly. on purpose. fuck with me about it!!!!!#also 'tell me i'm an angel' would compliment the wings as well#but as an artist i find i am way better at cartoons/characters than literally anything else.#ask me to do something cool w fonts/words beyond simply being legible and i'll throw up and cry.#also something i don't want to say outright but feel okay sharing in the tags is Why punk is so important to me#is cause i am just. so sensitive. i always have been.#but in a world that is actively becoming more hostile to exist in as a very visibly queer person#AND as a noticably autistic person too know like i think i have gotten to the point where people notice Something about me#(which. is good. bc autistic masking absolutely fucking ruined me so fucking bad.)#i need to get stronger. tougher. sharper. more dangerous. to exist as i am and to do so so boldy#i need to have the bite to back it up. i still feel like a prey animal but i have teeth i have claws.#going back to my church even for a moment has made me 10% eviler also. inspiring me to be the thing they fear.#so i think once i've rested i'm gonna go back to the drawing board for that transgender house of wolves backpiece.#diy punk#my projects

Genuinely I would give anything to hear your thoughts or read more critical analysis of yours on other webcomics writing (*slides you Marionetta* I like the webtoon but there are some things in the writing that I'd like to see be discussed critically more often but the fandom focuses way too much on shipping. sighs..)
Anyway, you probably have been asked this before but are there any webtoons in particular you would recommend? :D
Oh lord, you don't know how many times a week I get asks in my inbox asking for my opinions on webtoons they're reading. It's really sweet that people wanna hear me talk about other works outside of LO, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to read as much as I used to, even keeping up on LO lately is getting really difficult 😅 I'm definitely keeping a list though of works to check out!
That said, I try not to read series on the basis of criticizing them because frankly I just... don't want to spend time reading something if people are only looking for me to rag on it? 😆 Of course I know that's not the only reason, I know there's also just the element of seeing me talk extensively about other works the way that I do with LO, but it's not really something I can turn on and off like that, I have to get really into a series to want to talk about it to that extent. So it often comes down to just luck of the draw :'0
Right now the series I'm keeping up the most on (or have completed and would absolutely 100% re-read):
Alfie (18+, it's porn with plot but the plot is REALLY GOOD , I SWEAR LMAO the art is gorgeous, the characterization is IMMACULATE, and it ironically tackles the subject of purity culture way better than LO ever has lol)
Theia Mania (the creator is often in my comment section / neck of the woods, she's been working on an Abduction of Persephone retelling for a long while now and has also tackled other myth retellings in her style! I always love seeing new pages of her work in my feed :' ) <3)
Tales from Alderwood (if you like fantasy and comedy, this one's great, the plot's really starting to get interesting and it's just got this really great sense of humor about it)
The Black Parade (this one's REALLY interesting, it's a comic-stylized version of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, using the songs as narration and sometimes even dialogue to tell a visual story, it's really cool and the art matches beautifully with the lyrics and style of MCR!)
A Tale of Two Rulers (this is a Legend of Zelda fancomic that poses the question, "What if Zelda and Ganondorf got married to solve their political crisis?" It updates a lot slower than most of the other comics I follow but the art and writing is so worth it <3)
Dogs of Future Past (and p much all of Lynx's Undertale comics which can be found in the link, seriously, THESE are the comics you wanna read if you wanna get into Undertale fanworks, they are PEAK)
Tamberlane (this one's an anthro comic, I normally don't read anthro but this one actually gripped me by the throat, the art is gorgeous and the character arcs so far have been great!)
The Mafia Nanny (okay it's legit so funny that I'm including this one here but I've been reading it the last couple days after seeing it basically beat out LO at the top of the trending tab for a couple days, so I figured I'd give it a shot, at first I was like "great more tropey shit" but the more I read it the more it's actually started to get pretty good, I'm holding out and hoping to god it stays that way LOL it's not especially deep or anything like that, but it's really fun and cute to read and the shipping of the main character within the narrative isn't too self-absorbed which I can always appreciate, I'd honestly be 100% fine with it if it didn't turn into a romance)
City of Blank (I talk about this one a lot here, but it's one of my favorite Originals right now, the art is super polished and the writing has gotten INTENSE, go check it out if you want some fun action / sci-fi storytelling!)
Time and Time Again (a time-travelling vampire and his werewolf boyfriend get into all kinds of misadventures, what more could you ask for?)
Touch of Divinity (like the Mafia Nanny, this is one I just started reading, it's got a very interesting premise so far and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes!)

hi 👀
for the "get to know your writer meme"...... I want to know all 77
BUT
I am restricting myself to asking you JUST the following: 4, 10, 20, 29, 39 (specifically, feel free to murder me with the fight club au), 54, 56, 64 (an answer I definitely won't use for nefarious purposes so don't feel the need to answer carefully)
AHHHH THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME SO MANY MY FRIEND
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
where dont i find inspiration…. everything reminds me of them EVERYTHING. but one of my biggest inspos is music i’ll listen to a song and i’ll be like. okay but what if this was about Them.
10. Cltr+f "blinks" on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up
blinks is not in there and neither is blink. if you wanna pick another ill go looking for you.
20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
well ed always has adhd and stede is always autistic but other than that no i havent noticed and i think its because every time i write an au im so deliberately trying to create a unique space that i almost develop my own set of language styles for it. it gets a unique texture. or maybe my stuff is super repetitive and i sound wanky as hell right now and i’ll take that too.
29. What’s your revision or editing process like?
well for one shots that are not super important to me ill reread a couple times just to make sure its legible, for longer one shots ill have s beta go over it and pick at it and ill actually chew on the edits and make sure i land what im trying to sell. for my long fic i wrote a first draft and then chapter by chapter i went “is this thematically consistent do i like how it sounds do i even like this” and i wrote and rewrote MANY pieces
39. Share a snippet from a WIP
HAHA IM COMING FOR YOU KATHERINE
from the not fight club au
“Exactly how he snaps up his gaze when Ed is still a few paces away, how his gaze falls on him, heavy like a steel toed boot, heavy like a string of someone else’s pearls around a neck, heavy like heavy like heavy.
Exacting as he steps forward, one, two, into Ed’s space, grips his hands into Ed’s jacket, one, two, steps back, twists, dragging Ed with him, one, two, until Ed’s pressed against the back of the car.
(Hungry) (it is hungry) (it is starving) (Ed’s own stomach growls)
There’s a beat where Stede waits, a beat where Ed nods, one, two, and then—
And then Stede kisses Ed.
(and then Stede kisses Ed) (and then Stede kisses Ed) (and then Stede kisses Ed)
And then Ed kisses Stede.”
54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
putting my beautiful baby girl ed in situations. just lots of wish fulfilment playing with my favorite barbie.
56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
i really like that everything i write has distinctive voice in it. everything i write has serial numbers on it, like its definitely mine.
64. Something you love to see in smut.
as MCR once said (and its hilarious because this is genuinely the song thats come on shuffle as im typing this): Blood!
no seriously. blood. i love blood. gimme some blood.

Early Sunsets over Monroeville - MCR Interviews
89.5 WSOU FM Interview - 7/11/02
14:12-15:33, 20:21-20:32, 21:20-21:28, 21:47-21:51
youtube
Interviewer: Do you think that added to the performance, that you had to actually get through the pain? Gerard: For Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, definitely. I was in-- It was like, I dont know like 10-- 9:30 at night. We were just getting ready-- It was the last song we did for the day, and I was in so much pain. And I just-- you know Geoffy [Geoff Rickly] was like, “Alright, let her rip.” Interviewer: That’s the mellow song, right? Ray: Right, that’s the-- what’s awesome about that too is the last, I think it’s like the last 3 minutes of that song is just one take, no edits, no stops, no cuts. It’s just...It’s an amazing performance by-- by him and just by all of us, I think because we-- we wrote that song like a few days before we went into the studio. It wasn’t finished when we recorded it, so it was just us, you know, kinda letting all of us [unintelligible], you know? Interviewer: (Overlapping) It was your studio song. Ray: Right, we wrote it in the studio. Interviewer: Well since we’re hyping this up so much... (Ray laughs) We might as well play it ‘cause everyone out there’s going “Wow, sounds like a great song.” Ray: Hopefully Interviewer: “I wanna hear him crying.” (Ray and Gerard laugh) “I wanna hear that tooth.” (Continued laughter) So, I guess let’s go into a little bit background of the song, and then we’ll play the song for everybody, and everyone can hear. Gerard: Okay, Mikey does not want me to reveal-- Interviewer: He’s going “No! You’re out!” Gerard: (Overlapping) what the song is about, but if you-- there’s plenty of clues in it, so if you figure out, it’s-- I’ll say it’s about a film. Is that enough? Ray: Yeah, that’s good. Gerard: Okay, you can figure out-- Ray: (Interrupting) Horror film Gerard: Alright. (Pauses then laughs) You messed it up! (Arguing in background)
Interviewer: What are some of your favorite songs off this record to play live and actually-- or during the recording process? Ray: Um, I think recording process-wise, definitely “Monroeville.”
Frank: (Talking about his favorite songs) And “Monroeville” because I had no clue what I was gonna do. (Interviewer laughs) I wrote it in the van before we recorded, and I had like frostbite on my fingers so it kinda sucked.
Mikey: I like the “Monroeville” song. (To Gerard) It was fun watching you tweak out at the end. (Gerard laughs)

Noise Theory Interview - 11/13/02
Page 1, paragraph 5
Tumblr media
Interviewer: Even though ‘My Chemical Romance’ as a band have been together only a short time, the album displays some excellent and mature song writing skills. Were the album songs written after the band became complete? Ray: We started in October 2001, and had written 5 songs by January 2002. This was when the band was still a four piece. The rest of the songs came together a few weeks before we went to record. Honey This Mirror and Early Sunsets were written about a week before we left for the studio. We asked Frank to be in the band around the same time, so to get his input on those songs really helped them become what they are.

HardcoreNJ Interview - March/April 2003
Paragraph 3
Tumblr media
Interviewer: What was the inspiration behind "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville"? Matt: Musically there wasn't any inspiration, 2 days before the recording I happened to be strumming an acoustic guitar in our practice space, and the guys all seemed to like what I was playing (which is a rarity). Anyways, we knew we wanted something different on the record to reflect our softer side. I think it was the most magical part of recording process, seeing a 2 day old song kinda just work, we didn't even have an ending for it. We all just jammed it out improvising. Oh, and the vocals were inspired by a certain movie...

89.5 WSOU FM Interview - 7/3/03
8:25-8:31, 8:59-10:27
youtube
Interviewer: Alright, so, we’re gonna hear “Monroeville.” Ray: It’s a slow one. Grab your girl...and then shoot her in the head. (Laughter)
Interviewer: I remember a long time ago when you were recording this record that you had a problem while you were singing this song. Gerard: Yeah, I had a hole in my tooth and an abscess in the hole, and it was pushing against all the nerves in my face, and it looked like I had Parkinson’s, and it was (a?) drag, and it-- Interviewer: And your face was droopy, and-- Gerard: It was drooping, and I looked like a-- I went to hospitals the whole time we were recording, and they thought I had facial nerve paralysis, nerve damage, so I had to do that song, like basically with, yeah like the most intense pain and half a face. (Dramatically) Half a face! Interviewer: So, alright, everyone listening out there, now you know he did this song with half a face. Gerard: (After a pause) Half a face. (Laughter) Interviewer: How did you feel about the song after you played it? I know you must have been like, you know, “This can’t be the best I can do” because you’re all messed up and stuff. (Ray protesting in background) Gerard: It felt like that, but (Unintelligible as Gerard and interviewer talk at the same time) when I was doing it, but everybody was so psyched on it when I did it-- Ray: Psyched! People were crying-- Gerard: They were crying man (Laughter) Ray: It was amazing. It was the most amazing, definitely the most amazing-- Matt: (Overlapping) Yeah, we were definitely a bunch of wusses. Frank: Alright, correction, not a bunch of wusses. Ray and Otter (Matt) cried. (Laughter) That’s what happened. Ray: No no no, I will definitely say I-- Mikey: The red sea might have been parted when my brother did that part. Ray: I cried. I think Alex [Saavedra] might have shed a singular tear. Interviewer: A singular tear? Ray: It was definitely some crying going on. (Matt talking in background) Gerard: (Overlapping) I got a hug after that one Ray: (Overlapping) It was bad. Gerard: (Overlapping) I got a hug. I got lots of hugs after that. Interviewer: (After a pause and laughter) Alright, so how’d you feel about the hugs afterwards? Gerard: The hugs were sweet. (Laughter in background) The record was sweeter.

Punk It Interview - 10/29/03
Paragraph 28
Tumblr media
Sev (Interviewer): What are some of the biggest disagreements amongst yourselves? Gerard: We mesh really well musically and personally. We all have a good time, so there's probably not that many disagreements. The only thing I think we ever disagree upon is if we're going to play "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" or not. We had a little thing tonight. Some guys wanted to play it tonight, but I'm not sure. It's an ad lib song - the first verse was written, but the last part of the song was freestyle. And I'm not fucking Eminem, so unless the vibe is right, I don't like to do it. I did it in Chicago because the vibe was perfect. It basically happens in the middle of the set. We feel the energy, and if they can deal with it, we can deal with it.
/
Life On the Murder Scene - 2005
31:24-32:01
youtube
Ray: And Frank played on 2 of the tracks off the first record, and one of them was “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville.” (“Early Sunsets” begins to play) Ray: He just plays some great, great parts. Frank: (Cuts to different interview) When we were doing “Monroeville”, Ray was laying down his parts, and as soon as he was done, I took the parts that they had recorded into a van, that had like no heat, outside the studio and wrote what I was gonna play. Ray: (Back to first interview) A lot of the melody that he plays during the verses and the choruses is just, you know, absolutely beautiful, and I think really makes those songs work.
/
Barcelona Live Stream - 3/5/11
6:10-6:34
youtube
Ray: (Reading a live chat feed) Ooh, would you ever play “Early Sunsets”? Frank: Oh, we have (turns to Ray while Mikey speaks in the background) this tour? I don’t know. Ray: I can’t even remember the last we played that. Frank: I think it was in Chicago. Ray: Yeah? Mikey: (After a pause) Oh yeah, we played it in the Metro. Gerard: (Unintelligible as multiple people speak) like “The End”? Frank: Yeah Ray: That would be a cool one to revisit. Gerard: It was a cool-- I think especially if we give it some structure at the end like, ‘cause that was the problem with playing that song. It has no definitive ending, like it kinda just keeps going and going.
/
Kerrang #1376 (alt) - 8/10/11
Page 3, paragraph 11
Tumblr media
Interviewer: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love” was released in July 2002. What do you think of it now? Ray: You can hear the nervousness and excitement. Every song speeds up which gives them a lot of character. I like the rawness, especially in the vocals. It sounds very true. I get emotional, too. Early Sunsets Over Monroeville is unlike anything we’ve ever done since -- it’s amazing.
/
Where Are Your Boys Tonight? (Chris Payne) - 2020-2022
Chapter 9, page 113
Tumblr media
Geoff Rickly: When we were in the studio, Gerard’s wisdom teeth were really hurting him, and he wasn’t able to sing, so he went to the dentist to have them out and afterwards they gave him a bunch of painkillers. He didn’t sing with the fire or the venom, so Alex took the painkillers away from him. Like, “You gotta sing in pain, fuck you! You gotta feel it!” I was taking the painkillers, watching him sing the record. I remember lying on the floor and coaching him through how to sing “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville,” the ballad on the record. I was saying, “You’re following the music, make the music follow you. More intense! The music will catch up to you.”

Things that I think have Edward Nashton ✨Vibes✨ or like random headcannons for him.
The Early Fall Out Boy albums.
Mainly I think he’d love Take This To Your Grave (he’s big into Tell Mick he just made my list of things to do today) and From Under the Cork Tree (Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner, I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I got was this song) and Folie à deux (mans screams 20 Dollar Nosebleed driving home after a murder)
Has a beat up to hell DSI he saved a bunch of money up for. Is the undisputed king of Brain Age. Has that DS game that’s just a bunch of public domain classic books.
The DSI itself is like really beat up from riding around in his book bag. He’s changed the battery multiple times so it’s basically running on spite and coffee fumes! Just like him!
I think Eddie would also be an MCR fan, Mama makes him cry his eyes out. Legit heartbroken when they broke up. Absolutely lost his (already gone) fucking mind when Foundations of Decay came out.
Has a deep buried desire to be loved and held and cared for. Does not know how to express it or attain it. Poor guy is the definition of touch starved.
When he does order food at the diner he keeps it pretty simple. Like a sandwich maybe a BLT if he’s feeling fancy. Mostly it’s pie time bay-bee! Also too much coffee
Pretend to hate Starbucks, says Frappes are just milkshakes with like a drop of coffee in them. Loves to play the Coffee Snob™️. But this motherfucker would inject Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Frappes into his bloodstream if he could!
Speaking of Fall things favorite season right there. He loves Spoopy stuff!
The air getting colder, the leaves changing color, it’s crisper and Gotham is allllllmost a tolerable place to be in. Not when you’re right in the center of the city, that’s dank and nasty. But go to the parks or the outskirts and yeah he can vibe with that.
Is strangely enough a master at hair braiding. He picked up the skill from the Orphanage.
Really loved Roald Dahl books as a kid. Back when he was still innocent and idealistic (before everything went to shit and even a little after in the Orphanage) he would try really hard to see if he had Matilda powers.
Like he’s stand in the bathroom and give himself a migraine trying to flip the switch with his mind. It never worked! 😔✊
Shockingly don’t think he’s an Incel, is he dismissive of other people and outwardly rude? Yes, yes he is! But he just can’t give enough of a fuck about other people to give a shit about who’s having sex and who’s not. Still lonely tho…
I think his parents (to make him sadder, who doesn’t wanna kick around the Blorbo a lil) were/are a Rich Girl who was studying at Gotham University with a Law Degree and the son of her Landlord’s who was also studying. A joint study session or two and they had their little fling and boom! Eddie.
His birth mom is from Metropolis actually! His birth dad disappeared under mysterious circumstances. (Rich Girl’s dad paid him a bunch of money to fuck off out of Gotham and never talk to Ed or his mom ever again)
Neither of them have his last name and his records are hella obscured. Trust me, Eddie tried to find out something, fucking anything.
Rich Girl Mom went on to marry some Rich Boy and she ended up with a MRS. Degree and had two half siblings. She often wonders about him. Saw what happened in Gotham and felt terrible and responsible for how he turned out. Just uh… not enough to like actually reach out and help him.
Eddie hates people but will never be mean to a child. Especially not the children in his building. He likes kids, they’re honest and non-judgmental.
Deep down he still wants a spouse, a nice 4 (one room is his office/man cave) bed and 3 bath house on the outskirts of Gotham with 3.5 kids and Golden Retriever or some shit like that.
Watches/watched too many movies and thinks relationships are supposed to be like a rom-com.
Is in a few Discord servers, has his own for the Riddler but also has like a group of internet geeks he plays D&D and like Jackbox or TF2 with.
He is the D&D Dungeon Master thank you VERY much! When he’s not in charge (he will fight tooth and nail on this) he likes to play Wizards, he’s a classic Elven Wizard guy. Always super high intelligence and Wisdom stats. Has the worst fucking luck on charisma throws, even worse luck when it’s a saving throw.
He had/has friends he just self isolates into a pile of hatred for the world and self loathing so his relationships are shaky.
This dude fucking loves the Sims, Sims 2 is his Nostalgia fave but he really got into the Sims 3 and had played that one the most.
I think he smells nice and doesn’t use like 3 in 1 shampoo. It’s still shit like store brand generic green man soap. But he takes care of his skin and his hair.
Avid wearer of sunscreen, will burn if he doesn’t wear it. Objects majorly to going outside during the summer.
Has one faintly chipped tooth from when he got slammed into a toilet in Middle School.
Was a Library TA in high school. Mainly his senior year since he really didn’t need to take anymore classes other than like an elective (shop class and one more language course. He picked German)
Likes the smell of spearmint, vanilla lotion (especially on a pretty girl), leather, old books and the metallic smell of fresh blood. Also coffee but that was a given.
Can technically cook but chooses not to.
Okay, I really should fucking stop this is already so long. 😖😫 But I love him.
By god I have to add onto this post!
My dude is a raging pansexual, like you all saw how feral he was for Batman.
He has such a weird way of getting crushes on people. One time a cute guy was vaguely nice to him when he got his coffee order and this poor guy already planned out their entire wedding and what they’d name their kids.
Cannot initiate to save his life in those situations. Gets too up in his head and his mean ole brain is like “A you’re disgusting, B. You’re getting distracted from your mission you fucking loser and, C. We gotta circle back to what a gross loser you are.”
If someone showed interest in him he’d short circuit and then assume it was some kind of prank. Please reassure him, he needs it.
As for mental health stuff ima project onto the husband here.
Has BPD, why? The outbursts, getting unhealthy attached to Batman without even knowing him, the mood swings. He just seems like the type.
ADHD my dude lives in organized chaos. Nobody else knows where anything is in his place and that’s how he likes it. He’s got his hyperfixations! Riddles and puzzles being one. Numbers too! He seems like the type of person who would bounce their leg a lot.
Pens are his stim toys, you can bite em, you can tap them, you can click them and they write!
Tried to go to a gay bar once, he did not make it through the door, mostly sat in his car trying to hype himself up.
Once he got his Riddler outfit tho…. Ooh he was in there and it still freaked him out. Mostly it was him sitting in a corner trying to blend in and lowkey drooling over every hot person that passed him by.
Watched/watched Gravity Falls. He liked Dipper, kinda hates Mabel but not really and full on loves Ford
He’s always hated Harry Potter, thought it was stupid and whenever someone asked him what his house was he’d be like “I don’t have a Hogwarts house because I’m not a child.
Green Apple and Lime are the best flavors fight him.
He used to drink like way too much Monster and other energy drinks but they kinda give him heart palpitations now so he sticks to coffee.
He likes arcades, there’s one that’s been around forever by his place. The folks who own the place are pretty nice to him.
Very pinchable cheeks. You knew tho!
Wears socks in bed! His peets get cold.

1 (Desert Song), 2, 3, 8, 11, 14, 23, 29 for the fic asks :)
Thank you so much!!! I'll try to make my answers somewhat brief since it's late and I need to get to bed
1. Share a song that makes you think of [Desert Song]
I mean, the title IS a song (a very heartbreaking bonus release by MCR), and I do have a whole list of songs compiled for use in future chapters so I kinda want to save those for when they appear in the fic itself, but there's one song that reminds me of them but doesn't really fit the rest of the punk theme
Pruning Shears by the Amazing Devil
It's a wonderful song and tells the story of a future couple meeting at a party, the interactions between the two of them already remind me a bit of Billy and Quinn's dynamic, but there's one stanza that really strikes me (and would've been the choice lyrics for the fic chapter, if the song fit the theme)
And I'll watch her ruin her life and dye her hair bright colors Become someone's wife Forget the girl that she once was
It just strikes me as very very *Quinn*, and I'd love to include the song if it fit with the tone of the overall fic. I mean, I'm a punk and I love the Amazing Devil, but it's not exactly punk music itself
2. Do you read/reread your own fics?
All the time! I write the stories I want to see, and I love rereading them from time to time
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Ugh, that's so tough because they all serve different purposes. Like, Smoke and Mirrors I love for its character development, Bolts and Blasters I love for its slowburn, A Love Once New is my self-indulgent rainy-day fic, Desert Song I love for its complex relationships and intra/interpersonal themes, the list goes on. I love them each in their own way, and I genuinely can't pick a favorite.
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
Uh.... a lot. But most recently I've been working on new chapters for Taking Flight (still hyperfixated lol) and Heartstrings, with A Love Once New waiting in the wings (pun intended lol)
11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?
Not really, I tend to get distracted if I write to music. I do have a playlist for my Sandman character Prometheus here, and my fics kinda end up being playlists themselves since I incorporate so much music into them, but I don't generally create a lot of playlists.
14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?
I'm actually gonna go with Desert Song. I tried/am actively trying to emulate the fast-paced action style of 6 Underground, and given the movie never got a sequel I'd pick this one to fill that void. The same goes for my other 6 Underground fic, Nom de Guerre - Desert Song is the better-written fic by far, but I think Nom De Guerre might have more visual elements that would adapt well to film.
23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?
I tend to lay out a brief outline for my chapters so I know where to go, but I kinda just go off of general feel for the length itself. The only limitations I place on myself are that it must be over 2k words (which is easy to achieve now) and it must end in a good narrative way (since idk when I would next be able to update and I don't want to leave people unsatisfied).
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
Sure thing! Here's a snippet from a Wednesday fic that I scrapped after the controversy with Percy Hynes White. I still like the idea (in fact, I'm hybridizing the OC into a future fic with Michael Langdon instead), but I don't want to engage with any of the controversy regardless of its legal outcome.
“Calypso, that’s Greek, right?” Her Mona Lisa smile widened into something genuine, a blend of pure happiness and mild surprise. The distance in her expression vanished almost instantly. She wasn’t great at hiding her emotions. Everything showed on her face, as candidly as if it were written across her forehead. He found it endearing. “Right.” she agreed, “Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Atlas, the titan, and she was imprisoned on a hidden island that adventurers could only find once.” Then, as if it burst out of her in a flash of inspiration, “But I think I’m more like Hephaestus.” “Why’s that?” “He was the outcast of the gods. Cast aside because he was ugly. And he worked the forges.” She stared down at her own hands, and he remembered the illustrated gleam of the knife in his painting. “I work in the forges. Sort of.” Another of his questions answered, then. But that wasn’t what he was focused on. And he had a habit of speaking before his brain caught up. “You think you’re ugly?” Her gray eyes flashed back up to his own, emotion flitting across her face in an uncertain wave. She still couldn’t hide it, but that didn’t mean Xavier could read it. He wasn’t sure what to think, other than that she was clearly very, very lonely. And maybe didn’t even realize it. “I think I’m an outcast.” she finally answered, very carefully.  Maybe she did realize it, after all.
thank you so much for asking!! these were fun!!

WAIT DID U MEAN HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD???? HAVE U HEARD WAR CHILD? PARADISE LOST?
PARTY BY MYSELF???!!!!!!!
YEAH HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD KJBGDKD
I didn't answer this ASAP since I wanted to give my full Lore about Hollywood Undead + please remember I'm terrible with music genres so like
One of the things I really enjoy about music is buildup; hence why one of my favorite MCR songs is Demolition Lovers. It's 6 minutes of switching from part to part very beautifully, as well as constructing the narrative of the aforementioned Lovers. You get the soft intro, leading up into those initial "I'm trying, I'm trying", which stops but fades again to the "All we are are bullets", which ends in that AWESOME guitar solo(?) that keeps building and building to the "Phantoms forever" part.
Lots of other songs I enjoy have this sort of buildup; Undefeatable from Sonic Frontiers (which like, kinda makes sense as it's both a really good song and also meant to build up to each section of the boss battle it's from), King For A Day by Pierce the Veil, Last One Standing by Simple Plan, City Traffic Puzzle or Sweet Tangerine by The Hush Sound...
Heck, even when listening to Evanescence in 3rd grade I probably enjoyed Bring Me To Life for that reason as well
This Love This Hate has the benefit of also being a Blorbo(tm) song which is another story entirely that I don't feel like telling; but overall I enjoyed the buildup of that song and since I heard it first in a Blorbo AMV + I always associated its lyrics with said blorbo, but that was my first Hollywood Undead song. I'm not sure what genre it feels like since it doesn't sound like the harsher rocks of Three Days Grace or the pop punks of the Emo Trinity, but whatever it is, it's just overall very good at portraying a highly specific mood; similar to Viva La Vida by Coldplay to me, where it's such a melancholic mood for a feeling you simply can't place, but it still makes you Feel anyway.
Sell Your Soul I actually found through a random speedpaint video; I think I was actually looking for speedpaint vids set to This Love This Hate since sometimes I wanna see visuals while listening to my music when lyric vids don't suffice. It def feels more on the rock spectrum than This Love This Hate, which I absolutely enjoyed; but ough the BUILDUP being so much harshly rock-ish helps a lot. The lyrics always gave me the impression of someone being led to their own public execution; screaming from within that they fear their own incoming death, the fear and shame from realizing how many people come to celebrate YOUR OWN DEMISE, to some part of you saying FUCK IT, THROW IT ALL AWAY! FORGET ME! I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE! since either way, you're dying. Considering I enjoyed Three Days Grace in 3rd grade, I think there's something self indulgent in the lyrics + harsh music of Sell Your Soul.
This Love This Hate was just very personally endearing to me, like a blorbo-themed Viva La Vida. Sell Your Soul was outright BOPPIN' to me since its harsh lyrics and rock-y tone was just very appealing to me.
However, I remember going on a Hollywood Undead binge after accidentally finding Sell Your Soul... only to be a little disappointed that the things I was finding just wasn't capturing that same energy of either song
I definitely do have more Hollywood Undead songs in my playlists than just Sell Your Soul and This Love This Hate, but they're not particularly songs I've gone as crazy for as those two.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure if I have time to re-listen to all of these to fully digest, but in re-listening to Levitate I quite like the sound but not particularly crazy for the lyrics. Young is odd because I quite enjoy the instrumentals I'm hearing, but something about the vocals isn't really hitting me as crazily either.
Also just in case bc I forgot it's one of their top songs: Bullet is pretty nice, I quite enjoy the contrast between sad lyrics and boppin' instrumentals! I have no problems with it other than it sounds quite different than the rest of my music playlist so that's why I haven't added it. Not to mention I did used to listen to it during my very bad sad boi hour moments so I definitely need to be in a specific mood to listen to it.
Paradise Lost is the only title I recognize from your ask, but listening to it again it DOES have a bit of dramatic buildup, but it's not hitting me quite much. It has a soft instrumental at the beginning but very harsh vocals, which is a bit of whiplash I personally am not a fan of for this song. I quite like how the chorus sounds at least! But it's such a highly specific vibe that I personally DON'T vibe with; I'll probably add it to my Liked Songs, but not my actual playlists. Not to mention I tend to add music on if I can see myself drawing to them, which I'm not really getting that vibe with Paradise Lost
BUT (and I'm doing this live as I write this post), I will listen to your other songs rq!
War Child, live thoughts:
what the fuck a horn
first lyrics this is more of a #slay song than the dramatics of sell your soul/this love this hate
this fr sounds like the kind of song you'd put over your best gameplay footage
i think that's what i'm thinking tbh, i tend to like more dramatic lyrics, but at the very least i'm enjoying the instrumentals! the vocals are pretty nice too even though they're talking about ass and alcohol; just kind of a disappointment for someone who's more for the dramatic songs
Good song! I could imagine myself drawing to this, but I am more for more dramatic lyrics than "mm girl sexy". I feel like I'd add this to my more boppin' playlists rather than my full on mish-mash of dramatic songs.
Party By Myself, live thoughts:
kiinda don't like this intro for some reason @_@
party music??
this feels more of a #slay song as well
this rap is bumpin' though
yea this absolutely feels like party music; GOOD party music though, like the kind you'd find on a 2012 dj playlist
once again, v bumpin! just perhaps not the kind of dramatic i tend to enjoy
Once again, good song! Oddly enough has the vibe of 2012 party playlists? I'm not sure if it's "imagine myself drawing" levels, but definitely I can see myself listening to this if I wanna feel those #party vibes. And there are a LOT of good party vibes songs out there.
The verdict: Bumpin' songs with no drama go in the Edgar Allan Poe meme playlist
Tumblr media
I thiiink I prefer Party By Myself more than War Child? Those 2012 party music vibes just hit much better than the general #slay energy of the latter.
Once again, there's some level of disappointment I feel however; I do in fact tend to love the more dramatic vibes of Sell Your Soul and This Love This Hate in my general music. It's why I enjoy My Chem so much! Heck, my newest songs in my main playlist are about the #drama;
Tumblr media
1.) A guitar instrumental cover of a song trying to capture the vibes of "The End"; a credits song, a death, your OWN even so!
2.) Love From The Other Side was introduced to me by a friend who also enjoys Fall Out Boy and introduced it to me as "dude the new FOB song sounds so anime". It's very dramatic in its buildup! ...But also Fall Out Boy lyrics have always been slightly incoherent to me so JKSBGKFS I don't tend to care as much when it comes to their lyrics
3.) Okay this one I added because it reminded me of an OC dynamic when I found it but like,,, cmon it sounds like breakup angst
Tumblr media
4.) Heard this randomly as well, but always associated with a sort of seething hatred for someone who's wronged you; it feels like a musical embodiment of glaring intensely at someone
5.) Once again was imagining this one with an OC dynamic and like,,, yeah. #Drama
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the TLDR is this:
I love drama and buildup within my music, and This Love This Hate and Sell Your Soul were perfect brainrotting songs back when I first listened to them! I would attempt to get into Hollywood Undead more, but each song I listened to just didn't really hit me as much as I wanted; maybe the vocals for one song weren't my cup of tea, maybe it was too much boobs sex and alcohol in the lyrics, maybe the instrumentals just weren't hitting me. Paradise Lost is definitely better than I remember, though once again still not HITTING me as well as those first two songs, and it's still not one I'd consider for my main playlist.
I'm glad to be able to share music with others, and I do quite enjoy the songs you've listed! I do quite enjoy Party By Myself more than War Child since it captures those 2012 party music vibes. However, there's once again the disappointment in simply preferring more dramatic songs than the #slay and party music vibes of these two. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's pretty much a matter of personal preference and a bit of surprise I managed to fall in love with Sell Your Soul and This Love This Hate out of all the songs from Hollywood Undead that DON'T fit their vibes! It's just a shame since in listening to those two I was hoping to find another Three Days Grace or Green Day kind of band within Hollywood Undead, but it's just simply not the vibe they tend to pursue within their music and I respect that.
Overall I enjoyed being able to ramble about this, and I'm at least happy to be introduced to new Hollywood Undead songs even if the vibes of them are the opposite of what I tend to enjoy within my general music taste :] Thank you so much for introducing me to them!

AMA Character Edition ~ Answers Part 1
Here are the first few questions! You can still ask your own :)
Q1: What are everyone’s favorite comfort meals?
A1: This one is weirdly the same for all of them: beef casserole.
The reason it’s the same is because it was Beverley’s speciality (and not *always* beef), and she’d make it for her favourite family members. So if Gran made you casserole, or you came over to find there was casserole for dinner/tea, you knew she was pleased with you, or you were in favour somehow. It was also mind-bendingly delicious.
Carrie has casserole when she goes over for tea, and that’s her first proper home-cooked hot meal in months. She later learns how to cook it, and the others then get it from her on request, so it is then un-weaponised as a meal and becomes one with positive associations, that they can just have whenever they want it. Since they all know the context of the original meal, which is unspoken between them but just a Thing they understand from their family dynamic, it’s The Meal that they sort of re-appropriate/reclaim for their own.
Tumblr media
Q2: Give me a fact about ricky that you’ve always wanted to give me but haven’t told me yet? feed me specifically
A2: Originally – and I don’t know if this is canon or not – Ricky actually lost his virginity to Sasha Shaw who collected all the cousins born in 1990 (same year as she was). They were 15, he was wasted and doesn’t really remember. It lasted less than 2mins. It happened the day he caught Wes and Layla at Aunty Em’s house, and was probably in response to that on some level, and a total waste of time for him, which is another reason why he doesn’t ever think about it or have any feelings about it whatsoever.
Tumblr media
Q3a: Tell us about songs that various characters would not listen to most of the time except for when they are feeling a certain kind of masochistic.
A3a: Carrie wouldn’t listen to Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell unless she was feeling like she really needed to cry.
Ricky wouldn’t put the radio on at all unless he was exceptionally lonely and needed some sound.
Wes only listens to angry emo rock when he’s incredibly pissed off/certain kind of depressed and needs to sike himself up for something: then it’s usually Fall Out Boy, MCR etc.
Katy is pretty easy about what she listens to, but she hates Summertime Sadness and Boys of Summer equally, and wouldn’t listen to them unless she wanted to torture her soul.
Q3b: If they could, what instruments would everyone play?
A3b: Carrie would play piano (always wanted to, never learned, but the house had a music room with a piano forte, and it remembers). Ricky – not sure. He whistles bird calls canonically so maybe the flute, but I think he’d like to play something with strings that requires dexterity, maybe the violin. Wes – electric guitar. Katy: drums.
Q3c: And to keep running with the music theme, if everyone were to be in a band, who would do what and what would the band name be?
A3c: Something along the lines of Gods & Monsters, or Young Gods & Old Monsters?? It would be alt/emo/glam rock, ironically for Wes in canon. Something like that. Maybe a cross between The Struts and My Chemical Romance.
In this AU, Wes would be the frontman, lead singer/guitarist. Katy on drums, Ricky would be versatile and be the band member who can pick up any instrument and play it really well. If he’s musical in this AU, then instruments would be his hyperfixation. I think Carrie would actually be a roadie, a PA, or part of the team in a backstage way, and that’s how she and Ricky would meet and get together. They may have another band member, but unsure!
This would be a very “Rock Star Romance” type narrative but potentially told through interviews and memoir extracts, with the band on tour promoting a new album, with episodic dramas like Carrie rescuing Ricky from various self-destructive behaviours and situations, keeping Wes from going totally off the rails, and making sure Katy doesn’t get arrested and attends her anger management therapy sessions. She would definitely have slept with Wes multiple times in this AU but it wouldn’t be anything serious – FWB I think – but her and Ricky would be the solid partnership by the end.
The AU novel would be the same name as their band, I’m leaning to YGOM, and I think it would read a lot like a rock star autobiography or a bio compiled by a superfan in the industry/someone writing about their father and his life for Reasons. Ricky would still be ace, but I think would feel a lot of pressure to “overcome” his sex aversion which would lead to him being very self-destructive until he learned to be comfortable in himself, and possibly with a kid he didn’t know he had until later. I think, though, it would turn out to be Wes’s kid, not his, and that would be a fairly dramatic but typical episode that underlines the narrative arc peppered with a lot of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. Everything, ironically, that Ricky says he doesn’t do in THE CROWS.
Gerald’s place in the narrative would be taken by his guitar, which would be a character in the story. I think that Ricky writes the songs, and Wes has a lot of input, but Ricky’s got that creative spark and is a gifted lyricist in particular. Some of his scenes alone with his guitar would have a Ricky/Gerald dynamic, I think, in terms of it being a mask to his deep loneliness and dissatisfaction with the lifestyle he’s got, but he doesn’t know how to change it.
I’m not sure what Fairwood would be in this narrative, but leaning towards the guitar merging Gerald/Fairwood for narrative purposes, but it would be more metaphorical. I think Ricky would definitely have a “dream home” he wants to buy and live in with Carrie, and that’s a ruined manor in the countryside that he wants to do up and have as his project outside of the studio life.

hey i'm trying to get into the lemon twigs before i see them open for mcr, i was wondering if you had any song recks or suggestions for other blogs to follow? thanks! :)
yes so happy to answer this question! i want everyone to get into them lol. and I’m sure you didn’t mean for me to go so in depth but oh boy i'm about to infodump LMAO. also which night are you going to? i’ll be seeing them in brooklyn on 9/11!
all of the lemon twigs albums sound kind of different so here’s a little break down of them:
Do Hollywood (2016)- came out when they were 17 & 19 years old! CRAZY good for a debut! gerard is a very big fan of this album and posted about it when it came out. i would start with this one! the biggest inspos musically i would say are like beach boys/beatles mixed with foxygen/tame impala. a fun mix of psychedelic rock and baroque pop and electronic with a vintage sound! i would say the stand outs are “I Wanna Prove To You,” “As Long As We’re Together,” “These Words,” and “A Great Snake” :)
Go To School (2018)- so then they were like ok now we’re gonna do something COMPLETELY different. how about a rock musical about a chimpanzee named shane raised as a human boy who wants to go to school??? it is incredible and it’s so camp but also heartwrenching. if you like musical theater influences and rock operas (like i do) give this one a listen, it’s my absolute favorite!!! their actual mother plays the shane's mom, and shane’s dad is played by 70s rocker Todd Rundgren??? that’s camp. i would recommend listening to it all in one go as it is a story, but there are definitely some stand outs that can be listened to out of context like fan favorite (and my favorite) “Queen of My School,” “Small Victories,” and “Never In My Arms, Always In My Heart.” if you’ve got a couple minutes and want to understand the story before you listen, this is a great video where they break it down track by track.
Songs For The General Public (2020)- so some people didn’t really like “get” the conceptual chimp musical so then i guess they were like “ok fuck it! this next album is gonna be called ‘songs for the general public!’” LMAO. if you like music from the 70s then this is the album for you!!! if you didn’t know it came out in 2020 you would honestly think this was from like 1972. it’s a love letter to early 70s glam rock and power pop and influenced by lou reed/velvet underground, bowie, big star, the replacements, etc the list goes on. stand outs from this one imo are “The One” (which i have a tattoo referencing! the art was inspired by @trytogethappy ‘s SFTGP flash sheet. i would HIGHLY recommend checking out their blog and their art if you haven’t already!), "Moon," “No One Holds You (Closer Than The One You Haven’t Met),” “Hell On Wheels,” “Only A Fool,” and “Hog.”
i actually made a spotify playlist for my friends when i was convincing them to get into the lemon twigs, so that could also be a good place to start!
i’ve seen them 4 times this past year, and they’ve recently been touring mostly with songs from their latest album and new songs from their album thats apparently coming out later this year. so i would say listen to Songs For The General Public if you want to recognize the songs they play opening for MCR!
they are an INCREDIBLE live band and they have some really fun music videos, so i’m gonna link a couple of my favorite videos under the cut if you’re someone like me who likes to get the full audio&visual!
"I Wanna Prove To You" music video (very wes anderson vibes)
"As Long As We're Together" music video (fun, surrealist, and synth-y)
"Never In My Arms, Always In My Heart" music video (introduces the story of Go To School very well, also really showcases michael's talent as a camp icon and frontman)
"The One" music video (glam alert!!! fun fact: my hair is blonde bc of michael in this video lmao he gives me insane gender envy)
Live at Amoeba 2016
Live at KEXP 2016
Live at KEXP 2018 (oooh a hot new backing band! brian is a fucking guitar god in this one and michael is out of his awkward teen phase and into his lou reed era)
Live on Jimmy Kimmel 2018 (definitely their best tv performance)
"Hog" Live Version (this makes me sob and michael's vocals are the best they've ever been)
Full Performance- Live @ Underground Arts 2022 (this is their entire show in philly a couple months ago if you wanna get a feel of their current live shows/what to expect when they open! and if you spot a cute fat little blonde bitch excitedly dancing in the front the whole time unaware that they were being filmed- that is, in fact, me LMAO)

Haha, sorry!! I won’t look so hard next time, and then you can keep your secrets :)
I wanted to ask, how many albums do you think Minor Inconvenience have released? Are they all studio albums? Names of them? And, do you think all of the boys have their own favorite album?
That’s a lot of questions, but fun to answer still, I hope!! — Band Boys Anon
This took a while for me to answer bc M! is only half mine!! I had to get Mars' (the bestie @holocrypticdreamer if you're new around here :P) opinion too, gave us an EXCELLENT reason to talk about albums kdjhgkfjgh This might get long so I'm gonna put it under the cut, but before I do: thank you SO much for asking about them, band boys make my brain go brrrrr kxjhfgkfdjgh have a little kissaroo from me to you:
Tumblr media
all of their albums and the type of albums they are in chronological order are as follows:
You Should Have Seen the Caution Signs - EP
This is their fist EP, probably unpolished but clearly showing potential! Blake and Fallon are the main songwriters when we start and will remain that way for the next few albums
Minor Inconvenience - debut studio album
Their first album! Mars describes it as "likely the most juvenile sounding, leaning into more pop punk/pop rock" and I have to agree. They're leaning to be a "real" band, you know? Not a garage band or one played out of a friend's basement, a band with gigs and shows and fans :)
Lethal Injection - second studio album
Leans more punk rock than the first did, maturing a bit, getting closer to the sound that will ultimately be seen as theirs
Fatal Flaw - third studio album
This album puts them on the MAP babey, top of their game, peak form M! here. Songwriting shifts heavily to being spearheaded by Icarus and Blake. You know how every band has an iconic album everyone knows? This is M!'s
Call of the Void - live album
Recorded during an international tour, this album captures the very last of Icarus' performances as a member of M! and he leaves the band the night it is recorded. You too can relive the last night Icarus Nikolau was the lead guitarist!
Majorly Convenient - compilation album
This album is released during what is known to fans as The Drought - a long hiatus in the wake of Icarus' departure as the band recuperates, finds a new lead guitarist, and settles into existing without the man who named them.
Angel Wings and Broken Things - fourth studio album
A comeback album! This one is written during The Drought and captures a similar feel to Lethal, but with a much more mature sound - and it's Kip's first album! Though the grief and anger expressed in this album, the songs actually written for it, feel more like something written for everyone in the band BUT Kip
Making a Name - fifth studio album
Finally, everyone has a bit of creative control here, Fallon has let go of it almost completely, and it results in a blooming of their creativity. This album really, truly belongs to all of M! and everyone gets at least one solo, at least one time to shine.
You and Me, Makes Us, Makes We ft. Flightless - sixth studio album
Affectionately called the reunion album. This is the end of the rift between M! and Icarus, he works with them on this album, performs with them, and it feels like they are whole
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
WHEW, that was a lot huh!! we talked a lot about the music that inspires what we think of when we imagine M!'s music (old p!atd, fob, mcr, paramore, set it off) and I'll be the first to say Mars has such good music opinions, imo, he is so correct so often skjdfhskjg
as for their favorites, I think my boys' opinions would look like this:
Kip: Making a Name (he finally felt in the band, like a real part of it, this was finally his band too, like he belonged there with them, like he wasn't just the guy standing in for Icarus. It wasn't just their band anymore, it was his too.)
Yasha: You and Me, Makes Us, Makes We (finally finally FINALLY, all of his friends, together and making their art, their whole family in one piece again, Yasha is thriving and nothing will bring them down ever fucking again)
Sterling: Fatal Flaw (he will always hold it so close to his heart, they found the sound they were looking for here and it felt like the greatest achievement in the world for them all. Yes, they've gotten even better since then in his opinion, but nothing will make him change his mind that that album truly is their core essence)
---
Icarus: You Should Have Seen the Caution Signs (Icarus will never shy from telling you all the other albums are better than their very first, that he was so sloppy in Caution and he can tell you everything wrong with it, give you an itemized fucking list, but his favorite is that damn EP. It brought them all together in the first place after all)

Omg funny you say that bc when I was considering writing that in that anon I looked up if Halloween was celebrated there bc I didn’t wanna seem stupid and just assume it was and some things said it’s kinda celebrated there but not a lot and others said not at all what is the truth!!!! Is it really not celebrated at all there???? If so fuck that we’re having our own Halloween heh I would love love love to celebrate with you omg we could do so many spooky things!!!!! We could dress up in costumes (what would you dress up as omg omg omg) and eat candy (what are some of your faves) and watch scary moviessssss (are there any you’re particularly fond of) and carve pumpkins and do some urban exploring and omgggg I’m gonna be obsessing over Halloween with you now^.^
Emo night was fucking awesome!! It would've been so fun to go together <3 You would've had to drag me out of the mosh pit though haha. They played MCR and sooo many other bands, even songs I didn't know off the top of my head! I was wearing my slutty Hollywood Undead shirt (its called that cuz it's a size S shirt so it fits me tight and makes my waist extra slutty xP) and they played Hollywood Undead songs and I got so excited I screamed my lungs out hahaha. I think your manifesting is working cutie, cuz it's been like four days now and my ankle is doing so much better! It's still red and purple and green, but the swelling has gone down immensely <3 Hehehe we're so in sync, I love it <3 Awh baby I'm sorry you threw up :( I got so drunk I physically fought my friends on our way back home (which I did not remember, and they didn't tell me until yesterday) cuz I was overstimulated and they were threatening to put me in a shopping cart if I didn't hurry the fuck up. I feel really bad about fighting my friends especially because I don't remember, I only remember the fun parts of the night, not how much trouble I gave them afterwards :( My hangover was actually pretty manageable, but that's cuz I made myself throw up before sleep haha. I do that pretty often, a tactical barf to get rid of the latest alcohol I consumed x)
Art history was a life-changer for me in secondary school haha, I think I was the only person in the entire class actually interested in the subject xD I'd love to hear you ramble about paintings and see you get all excited, it's adorable <3 I always feel so rushed going to museums with other people cuz they always rush through and I like to stop and look and read the little plaques. I bet with you I wouldn't feel rushed <3 I love Mondriaan, there's such a beauty in the apparent simplicity of his work, and it's fascinating seeing his older works and watching the progression into his iconic style. It really opened my eyes for me, somehow when you're a teen you don't consider that artists go through phases and don't just get born mastering a certain style :] As a kid I lived next to a house in Mondriaan's style, it was super pretty. I've never painted with oil paints either! It's a pretty expensive and dangerous medium to get into, so I'm sticking with my acrylics and watercolours and digital art hehe. I never expected to learn about architecture in art history but it makes so much sense to pair the things together, there's so much artistry in architecture and buildings reflect the time period they were born from so clearly, I love it.
Hehe I've attached a photo of the zip-up at the end of this post <3 On the side of it you can kinda see part of the origami crane from 'Your Boyfriend' and the front of the zip has the half-white heart from that same game :] Is there anything else you think I should embroider on this zip-up? I also posted the heart pics! They're all the way from back in 2019 :0
Hehehe I like doing that to you, making you feel conflicted <3 I don't think I'd ever actually want to make you do something you don't want to do, because I'm too attached to you, but you wouldn't know that ;) What if I gave you a knife and asked you to carve something pretty into your skin? How long would it take you to admit you can't do it, or press the blade to your own skin? Would you obey me if I asked you to push the blade into my skin instead? Would your hands shake and your breathing get all trembly? I'd love to watch you try so hard to be good for me, but having to admit you can't. It's okay darling, I don't mind that you can't because you really considered it for a moment, didn't you? You would've done it if I'd pushed you, and god that's just the sweetest thing. I'd kiss you all gently as you're trying to get your breathing under control again, drinking up your struggling, you're so good for me baby <3
I've got a whole rainbow of bruises now :] From purple to red to green to blue to yellow, your kisses would be the best cure <3 I don't think I have a favourite holiday hehe, I like Halloween for the vibes, but it's not celebrated here. Very rarely people put up decorations, but no one dresses up or goes out trick-or-treating. College and Uni kids throw Halloween parties though, and those are a lot of fun. One time in secondary school I went to my lessons as a ball-jointed doll on Halloween. I painted joints on my hands and knees and stuff and dressed in my most doll-like clothes :] Everyone thought I was weird though because Halloween really really isn't celebrated here hahaha. I've never carved a pumpkin before, I'd love to carve one with you! You'd have to teach me <3 I love love comedy horror films and thrillers :D I saw Terrifier 2 in the cinema last year and loved it, I'm so in love with Art the clown hahaha. I've always wanted to try candy corn, what does it taste like? Is it good? My favourite candy is liquorice, which is so very Dutch of me hahaha. What's your favourite candy? Do you have any Halloween plans this year? I'm hoping to find a party somewhere hehehe.
Here's the photo <3

Tumblr media
I'm not really a "fandom" person, but following various tumblr users helped me appreciate them in a different light
Fast Facts: How long have you been a fan?: 5-8 years Did you get to see MCR live before this tour?: No, this tour was my first time seeing MCR How many shows on this tour did you attend in total?: 1 Favorite album: I have more than one favorite album Show experience out of 10: 9 Did you cry at your show?: Yes
Which date of the tour did you attend? 09/28/22, American Airlines Center, Dallas
When did you get your tickets for your show? Was it a struggle, or were they easy to grab? I originally thought I'd never be able to go, financially speaking. But a friend of the family had a birthday, and her sister bought tickets for the three of us. It was truly a miracle to be a part of such an experience because I just... Never thought it would happen.
Did you attend with anyone else? I went with my mom's best friend's kids. I treat them like my cousins, basically. They're really cool but it was very clear that I was a bigger fan of them.
What did you wear? I wore a handmade shirt that said "Hormone Replacement Therapy" in trans pride colours and the MCR black parade font. I wore it over a red dress with a hood, and I had vampire fangs in. I looked awful but I was loving it.
Where were your seats? I was on Frank's side, nearly behind the stage. I believe in section 222 of the American Airlines center. The seats were horrendous, but getting to see them at all was a gift.
What was your favorite song(s) from the setlist they played at your show? DESTROYA!!!!!! DESTROYA was the first MCR song I actually listened to and enjoyed. It made me so happy. I screamed it so loud
What song were you most hoping to hear? Did you get to hear it? I was honestly hoping for Early Sunsets over Monroeville and Heaven Help Us. They didn't play them during my show, but all the music was so awesome I didn't really care.
What was your favorite moment from the show? RAY GUITAR SOLO. MIKEY GREEN SHIRT. FALLING TO PIECES.
What was the most unexpected moment from the show? I'd say it was a pretty par for the course kind of show, but it blew me the hell away that we got THREE encore songs
Did you snag any merch? What pieces? I SPENT SO MUCH ON MERCH. I got the demolition lovers shirt, the Boy Zone shirt, and a Thank You (For the Venom) bag. I think I spent over $100 on it which was so much more than I meant
Many fans describe seeing MCR live as feeling like coming home. Did you experience anything like that at your show? I have described it to everyone as being a moment that fits perfectly into who I am. Going to a My Chemical Romance show feels like something that was fated, that fits perfectly into who I am. I was hoping to make more of a connection with other fans, but I didn't have that at the show. I went to the Dallas mall the next day and saw someone with a matching shirt - We freaked out and waved at each other, and I wish I would have said hi.
If you could change one thing about your show experience, what would it be? I would honestly have tried to go either alone or with different people, that's what I want to do the next time I get the opportunity to go to a show.
Has your perspective or opinion about the band changed since seeing them on this tour? If so, in what way? Not particularly, but it really nailed in that like... These are real people. They truly exist and are real. It made me feel so warm.
What advice would you give to people seeing My Chemical Romance in the future? DO IT AND HAVE FUN!!!!! Don't sit behind the stage. If you have to, try to get closer to ground floor.
Anything we didn't ask that you feel obliged to share or talk about? I flashed my phone light with one of my tumblr mutuals. They were behind the pit, and I was far away from them, but for a second we felt really connected.
Thanks, Wilder! He can be found on Tumblr at @puppybearuniverse. Below are some more pictures:

walks in
hi hi hello i am here to choose for you and ask about an oc of yours <3
i would love to hear about immerlias if you have any facts you'd like to share!!!
hello hi hi!!! the boy!!!!! good choice!!!! thank you for asking me about him :) this turned out to be SUCH a long post so I'm gonna put it under a readmore so I don't clog up people's dashboards with my fucking essay lmao
so I've actually been wanting an excuse to break down S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W by mcr and why its actually conveniently written about Immerlias so I think I will do that ehehe BUT also I just wanna ramble about him in general so I shall do that first
so. I do not remember how much information about Immerlias I have shared on him before. but he is my beloved. my son. my bestie. you surely understand /lh
some general info: Immerlias is a shining elf andhis name means sunlight and joy! he is aro ace and agender but also simultaneously a cis boy and his pronouns are he/him but he honestly doesn't really care what people refer to him with! I feel like he'd get a kick out of the occasional they/them or neopronoun, as a treat, but not enough to "officially" use them or anything. I do not think he would want people to consistently use other pronouns for him. this was meant to be a short detail and now its not lol
he is also babey. something about this man sets off everyone's protective instincts I swear and I KNOW this because in every rp and dnd game I have put him in, people IMMEDIATELY snap to "precious boy must be protected" mode within minutes. he is just so good at winning people over with his sweet, adorable smile and autistic adhd swag. I don't blame anyone for this because if I had only just met him I would probably default to that too. unfortunately I am subjecting him to The Horrors instead /lh
he's just super super sweet and adorable and my favorite way to show it is literally just to describe what his bedroom looks like because it is just. in every way an example of the kind of person he is. it is messy and stuffed with every last little thing that makes him happy. he painted the walls yellow and keeps repainting his ceiling in different murals and he puts poems and art up on the walls and draws directly on them sometimes and every surface is stuffed with trinkets, most of which are broken things he's picked up off the ground and shined up or made into art or just thought were pretty, and he collects shards of broken glass to sand and polish away all the sharp edges and wrap them in wire and hang them in his window so they through rainbows all over his room, and his bookshelves are stocked with everything from picture books to highly advanced math textbooks because it all brings him joy, and sometimes he spills ink on his desk but he'll just draw around it and make art out of it, and god I could go on all day describing his room but hjhghghjshghbvbhsgvsvjhgjhs
(also he has a little hidden spot under the floorboards that he's made without telling anyone that's just big enough for him to crawl into and hide and I think that's also very apt because as much as Immerlias appears to wear his heart on his sleeve there's also a lot he doesn't tell anyone. this whole room is a symbol I swear)
god this is getting long. I apologize in advance because I still haven't talked about S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W lmao
I am going to get into that actually SO I'm just gonna. put up each verse and then talk about it jbjksbjks
[Chorus] Move your body when the sunlight dies Everybody, hide your body from the scarecrow Everybody, hide
[Verse 1] Make a wish when your childhood dies Hear the knock, knock, knock when she cries We're all alone tonight Hold your breath when a blackbird flies Count to seventeen and close your eyes I'll keep you safe inside
so I'm putting these two together because I intend to break down the chorus fully later but it feels illegal to skip the intro of the song. so starting with verse 1:
GOD ok so. this is perfect. if you didn't know my wip starts off with Immerlias and Aryaea coming of age so this is very apt lol. BUT this is especially good for Immerlias because his whole character arc is about growing up and losing his naivete. he's been sheltered his whole life and then at the start of the book for the first time he and Aryaea are leaving town and their parents altogether (getting a bit into the third line there lol) but YEAH from line one it's very good!! line two is also good though because Aryaea goes to him for support a lot and you can also jump to the last line in the verse which makes me think about that again because they keep each other safe a lot. they're very codependent you see, as fictional twins have a tendency to be /lh
(you know, for once I think it would be very funny to have a pair of twins that just fucking hate each other but also aren't mortal enemies. just twins that they're each like "ugh, Steve again" at each other or something. I think it would be funny. anyway)
BUT besides the first line the OTHER line that made me immediately think of Immerlias when I first heard this song is in this verse too!! I don't know if I've ever mentioned this but Immerlias is fucking terrified of crows. which has plot reasons. it is Auresmus's fault. basically bc of zem Immerlias has nightmares about crows (elves are not supposed to be able to have nightmares at all) so that freaks him out a lot!!! it's kind of led him to firmly hold the belief that crows are harbringers of doom in real life too so he will have a full-blown panic attack if he sees one or even hears them cawing. anyway, moving on:
[Pre-Chorus] He burns my skin Never mind about the shape I'm in I'll keep you safe tonight Yeah, yeah, shut up and run with me!
I'm just gonna. that last line there I'm just gonna focus on it really hard for a moment because Immerlias IS arguably running away from home at the start of the novel. besides the fact that he's kind of tired of being coddled, he and Immor have a history of butting heads and frankly due to a lot of communication issues in this family Immerlias doesn't exactly believe his parents are proud of him. he also has this perception of his parents' expectations of him that are both a lot higher and completely different from what they actually are; while Immor and Regaya genuinely just want a happy life for him he's convinced that he's going to disappoint them if he goes into the arts instead of something more academic in nature, and frankly he's kind of convinced he's already disappointed Immor by not being remotely interested in joining the military (very false. if anything Immor is thrilled his son is relatively safe from the horrors of war). not only all of that but completely unrelated to family communication issues I do think he's trying to procrastinate growing up a little. typically at age 50 shining elves would start building a house of their own and/or start pursuing a career, but Immerlias isn't ready for that, in no small part because he's conflicted about what he wants to do with his life, because even with his parents out of the equation he loves math and STEM easily just as much as the arts and he doesn't want to pick one over the other. so yeah he's running away from all that with Aryaea for a little bit! ok moving on again
Move your body when the sunlight dies Everybody, hide your body from the scarecrow Everybody, hide Move your body when the sunlight dies Everybody, hide your body from the scarecrow Everybody, hide
ok so to start ANY song that says something about the sunlight dying or the world losing its color/light/saturation or whatever immediately reminds me of Immerlias. this is both because of tdi campaign Immerlias (in which he literally died. L) and because of his actual canon arc in my wip which does not in fact involve his literal death so much as him going through a depressive episode and struggling with his sense of identity (his name does mean joy, after all) and then having to redefine that happiness for himself when he doesn't have that childhood naivete that made it so easy anymore. I'm really, really looking forward to writing that arc out but alas it is a long ways away </3
all the references to the scarecrow also make me think btw, bc it's not a reference to the blackbird in verse 1, but something different. you can think of a scarecrow as something that exerts control over crows, in a way, which makes me think of Auresmus—and for a significant chunk of the book he does seem like a pretty big threat in need of being avoided! but if we think of the crows as being representative of Auresmus themself rather than zem just being in control of them, then you also get something that 'scares crows,' or that scares Auresmus, and that's the actual threat—the dragon that he owes a debt to, who is the actual antagonist of the novel, not zem. I think it's an interesting thing to consider :)
[Verse 2] Blow a kiss at the methane skies See the rust through your playground eyes We're all in love tonight (All in love tonight) Leave a dream where the fallout lies Watch it grow where the tear stain dries To keep you safe tonight
this verse makes me think a bunch about Immerlias's optimism and more about his arc with having to redefine joy and all that. the whole childlike, happy-go lucky attitude doesn't really cut it for some things (such as the impending doom of the apocalypse) but it still takes him a while to like. process the situation that is the plot and see it all in a realistic, grounded light that's not just blindly believing it will all work out okay in the end. and that's what kicks off his depression spiral but at the same time he has to work though his whole identity crisis and an increasing rift between him and his ability to keep in touch with reality on a more existential level if that makes any sense at all and he's still trying to work out his personal future and dreams with all this and yeah. yeah. its a whole thing
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Guitar Solo]
[Bridge] Love, love, love won't stop this Bomb, bomb, love won't stop this Bomb, bomb, love won't stop this bomb Run, run, bunny, run Run, run, bunny, run
[Chorus]
again this whole thing with like "love won't stop this bomb" makes me think very much about how he loses his naivete (and this verse particularly calls to mind his staunch pacifism, which isn't a problem in and of itself so much of the lack of nuance he has about it at the start) and has to work towards solving the problem that is the impending apocalypse without just trusting in Peace And Love On Planet Earth Quapara <3
and that is the end of the song! god that was fun. I haven't had a good long-winded infodump in a while
thank you again for asking about him, friend. I hope you enjoyed my essay kjbsjkbskjsjks

Headfirst For Halos - MCR Interviews
89.5 WSOU FM Interview - 7/11/02
22:28-22:31, 32:22-32:43
youtube
Gerard: (After being asked his favorite song) That’s my favorite and “Headfirst”, because I get to dance a lot, “Headfirst For Halos.”
Interviewer: Alright, so we’re gonna get into the final song of My Chemical Romance tonight, and that’s “Headfirst For Halos.” Did you wanna get into that? Gerard: Really quick, just to save you some time, it’s a song about being really depressed, on a lot of anti-depressants, and wanting to kill yourself. But instead of doing that, I just wrote a song about it, so...that’s what you should do if you ever wanna kill yourself. Interviewer: Write a song? Gerard: Write a song about it.
/
Punk News Interview - 4/11/03
Paragraph 10
Tumblr media
Interviewer: What were your inspirations during the beginning guitar in “Headfirst for Halos?” ALL: Van Halen, Queen.  Ray: Queen was a big one.  Background: (there were certain other influences too. . . ha-ha)  Ray: Ohhh well that influence was for the rest of the music in this song. We were fuckin’ zoinked out of our heads when we wrote that song. It seems like it is really against what everything sounds like on the record. It’s really major.  Gerard: We wrote it literally on the spot. I mean that song wrote itself. In like 10 minutes, lyrics, everything. We were just joking around and I was like this is the catchiest, popiest, stupidest shit I have ever heard, and I was like how can I make lyrics make it not. And then I figured a way to do that. At first we were like no, this in not a My Chemical Romance song, but we just kept fighting it until it was.
/
Recroom Magazine Interview - 8/12/03
Tumblr media
Jessica (Interviewer): I like that song.  My favorite song on the album is number six; I'm sorry, you know I'm really bad with the titles. Matt: “Headfirst for Halos” Jessica: That's the one. Just cause that's my favorite song, I'm curious as to what the songwriting process was like for it. Gerard: It started as a joke. It was really funny. Ray: We were stoned and we were jamming. Matt: And we thought it was obnoxious and funny. We were just like, "Oh my god, this is so stupid." And Gerard's like, "No! This is great!" Gerard: Yeah; it was brilliant. So I put really dark lyrics to it and it worked. Jessica: That's what I like about it. Cause the music is all upbeat and it sounds like it would be a happy song and then the lyrics are all dark and contrast with it.
/
NME Interview - Late 2003
Paragraph 3
Tumblr media
In ‘Headfirst For Halos’ (which [Gerard] Way considers “very similar to Blur”), he sings, “I think I’ll blow my brains against the ceiling / And as the fragments of my skull begin to fall / Fall on your tongue like pixie dust / Just think happy thoughts.”
/
Warped Tour 2004 Retrospective - May/June 2005
3:46-4:06
youtube
Ray: [Heath Saraceno from Midtown] would actually come up on stage and play an older song from our first record, “Headfirst For Halos,” ‘cause he wanted to play with us so band that he wrote like a harmonized guitar solo thing for something that I did. And he would play with us, and it was just awesome having 3 guitar players up there, and hopefully we can do that again sometime.
/
Alternative Press - June 2005
Page 7, paragraph 1
Tumblr media
Frank: [The other most unforgettable Warped moment was when we were in Calgary, and] the power went out while we were playing “Headfirst For Halos.” The kids kept it going. I’d never been a part of something like that; a place where we had never been before carried us through that song. I think it was the best time we ever played it, because we didn’t play it at all! [Laughs]
/
Matt Schichter Interview - 11/30/05
4:23-4:30
youtube
Interviewer: Let’s play something off the first record: either “Cubicles” or “Headfirst For Halos.” C’mon, you choose. Mikey: “Headfirst,” definitely. Interviewer: How come? Mikey: I just like the song better. (Laughs)
/
Life on the Murder Scene - 2005
35:39-36:09
youtube
Gerard: The most important song is “Headfirst For Halos.” (clip of band playing “Headfirst For Halos”) Gerard: Why it’s important is that it’s a song that kinda started as a joke (“Headfirst” continues to be played) Gerard: But, it’s the song that-- I had said to the guys “if we can pull this song off, if we can accomplish this, and do it believably, like, if we believe this song could work for this band, it’ll-- we won’t ever be pigeonholed.”
/
Kerrang #1143 - 1/17/07
Page 3, paragraph 2
Tumblr media
Gerard: There’s a song on every record that allows us to push ourselves further. On ‘Bullets’ it was [Headfirst For Halos] and on ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ it was ‘You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison.’ This actually started out as a joke. Then we realised that, if we could pull it off, it would allow us to do so much more because it would prevent us from getting pigeonholed. We worked on it to the point that it wasn’t a joke at all which, in turn, allowed us to do a song like ‘...Prison.’
It happened naturally because it was only after we finished writing it that we realised where it might take us. We had a thrashy pop song in our laps and we thought, ‘This doesn’t sound like anything.’ Maybe it was a bit of a Beatles rip-off, maybe it was a bit Britpop but that was all I could think of.
Again, it had a visual quality. That song and ‘Vampires Will Never Hurt You’ both gave us a real sense of identity. They brought in the entire gothic thing. It was those songs that made people think we were a vampire band!

Just finished listening to the new Panic! At The Disco album...
And oh Lucy, that was not great.
To be fair it wasn't an absolute shitshow, there were actually a couple songs I enjoyed.
"Don't Turn Off The Light", while not sonically super inventive or anything had me singing along around the third line. It's simple, it's sweet, it doesn't really evolve or go anywhere, but it was definitely the first track on the album I didn't actively dislike.
"Sing It Louder" was cool, I actually went back and listened to it a second time cos it was kind of a bop. Not a banger, but definitely a bop, I had to sing along with this.
Thematically, I liked "Something About Maggie" and "Sad Clown", but I can't really see myself humming or singing them to myself. These were also a couple of the more interesting one sound-wise on first listen but the bar was pretty low to be honest.
"God Killed Rock And Roll" is a song I kind of don't want to like. This song is basically Brendon Urie's take on Bohemian Rhapsody, but unlike My Chem with "Welcome To the Black Parade" for instance, it doesn't really evolve the core idea, and feels less "heavily influenced by Bohemian Rhapsody" and more "this is just Bohemian Rhapsody". Even down to using some note patterns which were definitely on purpose. But even though it's similar to Bohemian Rhapsody, it's still pretty flacid in comparison cos it only really has two parts to it, whereas the original has around four or five.
And that's about it in terms of songs on the album I actually somewhat enjoyed. The rest either didn't do it for me or worse off, did nothing but bad for me. Panic! has been a one man act for a while now, but this is the first album I think where it truly does just sound like a guy in his basement. The mixing is really weird in parts, some transitions are either jarring or non-existent, there are some weird sound choices in terms of amps and filters, and something feels off about his voice. Overall it just isn't a super high quality album in comparison to his previous work, which I think might be where the root of the issue lies for me.
I'm not the kind of fan to get angry when an artist changes their sound, they have the right to do so and fans aren't entitled into forcing their favorite creatives to stay in a bubble. But one thing that *does* bother me is just how low quality this genre switched album feels.
To my understanding, this album sounded like an homage to many famous classic rock and rollers, which is fine, that's cool and all. But it walks the line of "Nostalgic Tribute" too clumsily and at many points just feels *generic*, due to most songs just sounding like the concept of "rock and roll" in your brain. MCR who I mentioned earlier changed their sound with each album, not just their instruments and drummers, but jumping genres and themes pretty drastically, but never really having a substantial quality drop. Even Fall Out Boy who've also switched up their sound every album, managed keep up a pretty consistent amount of production quality in their work. Whether or not you actually enjoy the newer songs as much in comparison to their old work is up to you, but in terms of budget and effort, their discography has a pretty good track record (especially considering how many years they would release albums in succession).
I'm not upset that this doesn't sound like a Panic! At The Disco Album
I'm upset that it doesn't sound like Panic! At The Disco made this album. The key distinction between those two statements is the former is comparing the stylistic sound, while the latter is comparing the artistry. In the same vein of how this is the first album to actually just sound like a guy made it in his basement, this is also the first album to feel like there isn't any ounce of Panic! left in it. It's just Brendon.
