My Brilliant Friend (HBO Tie-in Edition): Book 1: Childhood and Adolescence
From the famous Italian author Elena Ferrante, the story is about a poor but vibrant neighborhood on the outskirts of Naples, Elena Ferrante’s four-volume story spans almost sixty years, as its main characters, the fiery and unforgettable Lila and the bookish narrator, Elena, become women, wives, mothers, and leaders, all the while maintaining a complex and at times conflicted friendship. This first novel in the series follows Lila and Elena from their fateful meeting as ten-year-olds through their school years and adolescence. This book is now turning into an HBO MAX show and it’s a young adult classic in modern-day Italy
The Story of a New Name (HBO Tie-in Edition): Book 2: Youth
The follow-up to My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name continues the epic New York Times–bestselling literary quartet that has inspired an HBO series and returns us to the world of Lila and Elena, who grew up together in post-WWII Naples, Italy.
In The Story of a New Name, Lila has recently married and made her entrée into the family business; Elena, meanwhile, continues her studies and her exploration of the world beyond the neighborhood that she so often finds stifling. Marriage appears to have imprisoned Lila, and the pressure to excel is at times too much for Elena. Yet the two young women share a complex and evolving bond that is central to their emotional lives and a source of strength in the face of life’s challenges. In these Neapolitan Novels, Elena Ferrante, “one of the great novelists of our time” (The New York Times), gives us a poignant and universal story about friendship and belonging, a meditation on love and jealousy, freedom and commitment—at once a masterfully plotted page-turner and an intense, generous-hearted family saga.
Adua
The book Adua is by lgiaba Scego has historical references and looks into the life of an immigrant. The story is about Adua, an immigrant from Somalia to Italy who has lived in Rome for nearly forty years. She came seeking freedom from a strict father and an oppressive regime, but her dreams of becoming a film star ended in shame. Now that the civil war in Somalia is over, her homeland beckons. Yet Adua has a husband who needs her, a young man, also an immigrant, who braved a dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea. When her father, who worked as an interpreter for Mussolini's fascist regime,  dies, Adua inherits the family home. She must decide whether to make the journey back to reclaim her material inheritance, but also how to take charge of her own story and build a future. From the choices of being an adult to a wife, the book gives us a look of the hard choices life gives us in a heartbreaking story.
100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed
An instant blockbuster in Italy that went on to become an international literary phenomenon, 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed is the fictionalized memoir of Melissa P., a Sicilian teenager whose quest for love rapidly devolves into a shocking journey of sexual discovery.
Melissa begins her diary a virgin, but a stormy affair at the age of fourteen leads her to regard sex as a means of self-discovery, and for the next two years she plunges into a succession of encounters with various partners, male and female, her age and much older, some met through schoolmates, others through newspaper ads and Internet chat rooms. In graphic detail, she describes her journey through a Dante-Esque underworld of eroticism, where she willingly participates in group sex and sadomasochism, as well as casual pickup
The Scent of Your Breath
Melissa P.’s fictionalized memoir, 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed, became an international literary phenomenon, selling over two million copies worldwide and provoking a warning from the pope. The Scent of Your Breath, the second installment in her series of confessions, is a tale of obsessive love and destructive passion.
Melissa is now a successful writer in Rome, living with her new lover, Thomas. With his soft body and feminine eyelashes, he is sensual, patient, and comforting—the antithesis of all the men who came before. But as soon as she meets Viola, a young woman from Thomas’s past, Melissa is consumed with jealousy. Written as a confessional letter to her mother, the story that follows is one of dark obsession, violent lust, and soul-destroying talent, teeming with the ghosts and dragonfly-women Melissa is convinced are trying to steal her man and bring about her ruin. The Scent of Your Breath blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy and delves deep into the disturbing yet strangely familiar mind of a teenage girl terrorized by love.
Three O'Clock in the Morning Is by Italian author Gianrico Carofiglio the contemporary heart-waring piece is about Antonio is eighteen years old and on the cusp of adulthood. His father, a brilliant mathematician, hasn’t played a large part in his life since divorcing Antonio’s mother but when Antonio is diagnosed with epilepsy, they travel to Marseille to visit a doctor who may hold the hope for an effective treatment. It is there, in a foreign city, under strained circumstances, that they will get to know each other and connect for the first time. A beautiful, gritty, and charming port city where French old-world charm meets modern bohemia, father and son stroll the streets sharing strained small talk. But as the hours pass and day give way tonight, the two find themselves caught in a series of caffeine-imbued adventures involving unexpected people (and unforeseen trysts) that connect father and son for the first time. As the two discuss poetry, family, sex, math, death, and dreams, their experience becomes a mesmerizing 48-hour microcosm of a lifetime relationship. Both learn much about illusions and regret, about talent and redemption, and, most of all, about love. This heartwarming story has captured the modern Italian audience.
Lost Words
Winner of the Viareggio Prize, a vivid portrait of Italy on the brink of social upheaval in the 1970s.The author Nicola Gardini, writes about the Inside an apartment building on the outskirts of Milan, the working-class residents gossip, quarrel, and conspire against each other. Viewed through the eyes of Chino, an impressionable thirteen-year-old boy whose mother is the doorwoman of the building, the world contained within these walls is tiny, hypocritical, and mean-spirited: a constant struggle. Chino finds escape in reading. One day, a new resident, Amelia Lynd, moves in and quickly becomes an unlikely companion and a formative influence on Chino. Ms. Lynd—an elderly, erudite British woman—comes to nurture his taste in literature, introduces him to the life of the mind, and offers a counterpoint to the only version of reality that he’s known. On one level, Lost Words is an engrossing coming-of-age tale set in the seventies, when Italy was going through tumultuous social changes, and on another, it is a powerful meditation on language, literature, and culture.
Things That Happened Before the Earthquake
The book by Chiara Barzini describes a story about Mere weeks after the 1992 riots that laid waste to Los Angeles, Eugenia, a typical Italian teenager, is rudely yanked from her privileged Roman milieu by her hippie-ish filmmaker parents and transplanted to the strange suburban world of the San Fernando Valley. With only the Virgin Mary to call on for guidance as her parents struggle to make it big, Hollywood fashion, she must navigate her huge new public high school, complete with Crips and Bloods and Persian gang members, and a car-based environment of 99-cent stores and obscure fast-food franchises and all-night raves. She forges friendships with Henry, who runs his mother's movie memorabilia store, and the bewitching Deva, who introduces her to the alternate cultural universe that is Topanga Canyon. And then the 1994 earthquake rocks the foundations not only of Eugenia's home but of the future she'd been imagining for herself.
I'll Steal You Away
Italian literary superstar Niccolò Ammaniti’s novel, I’m Not Scared, prompted gushing praise, hit international bestseller lists, and was made into a smash indie film. In I’ll Steal You Away, Ammaniti takes his unparalleled empathy for children, his scythe-sharp observations, and his knack for building tension to a whole new level. In a tiny Italian village, a young boy named Pietro is growing up tormented by bullies and ignored by his parents. When an aging playboy, Graziano Biglia, returns to town, a change is in the air: Pietro decides to take on the bullies, his lonely teacher Flora finds romance with the town’s prodigal son, and the inept janitor at the school proclaims his love for his favorite prostitute. But the village isn’t ready for such change, and when Graziano seduces and forgets Flora, both she and Pietro’s tentative hopes seem crushed forever. With great tenderness, Ammaniti shines light on the heart-wrenching failures and quiet redemptions of ordinary people trying to live extraordinary lives.
Heaven and Earth: A Novel Every summer Teresa follows her father to his childhood home in Puglia, down in the heel of Italy, a land of relentless, shimmering heat, centuries-old olive groves and families who have lived there for generations. She spends long afternoons enveloped in a sunstruck stupor, reading her grandmother's paperbacks.
Everything changes the summer she meets the three boys who live on the farm next door: Nicola, Tommaso and Bern—the man Teresa will love for the rest of her life. Raised like brothers on a farm that feels to Teresa almost suspended in time, the three boys share a complex, intimate, and seemingly unassailable bond. But no bond is unbreakable and no summer truly endless, as Teresa soon discovers.Because there is resentment underneath the surface of that strange brotherhood, a twisted kind of love that protects a dark secret. And when Bern—the enigmatic, restless gravitational center of the group—commits a brutal act of revenge, not even a final pilgrimage to the edge of the world will be enough to bring back those perfect, golden hours in the shadow of the olive trees.
An unforgettable story of enduring love, the bonds between men, and the all-too-human search for meaning, Heaven and Earth is Paolo Giordano at his best: an author capable of unveiling the depths of the human soul, who has now given us the old-fashioned pleasure of a big, sprawling novel in which to lose ourselves

I was just catching up with your blog, and I saw your klonnie post. It just got me thinking about how literally anyone in the narrative would have been more logical to pair Klaus up with than Caroline. I’ve read all your posts regarding why Klaroline does not make sense. 100% agree. I feel like Caroline is just who they went with because committing to a real Klaus love story would have taken way more time than the show had, and Caroline was the one who had the least commitments elsewhere in the narrative. I mean, there are plenty of plot heavy episodes where Caroline just disappears for no reason, and it’s obvious that the writers just didn’t have anywhere to logically put her. I honestly believed during my first watch through that Klaroline was just Klaus trying to put Tyler in his place. He never interacted with her before the episode where Tyler challenges his authority and refuses to bite Caroline, and then after that episode, he was being ooc and fake charming with her. I just thought Klaus was trying to get her to sleep with him so he could show Tyler that he was the one in charge and could take anything he had. Color me surprised when that was never the case.
Anyway, this all got me thinking about what individual arcs Caroline got, and I can’t really think of one after her becoming a vampire and getting tortured by her dad. After that, the show kind of played “pass the Caroline.” She would get passed around during episodes where she was either tagging along with Stefan, Tyler, or Klaus. Obviously it’s okay for your characters to be in scenes with each other, but the problem is you could take Caroline out of the season 4 sire-bound breaking storyline or the delena ft. sad Stefan storyline and nothing would really change. She is really on par with Jeremy and Matt in which she could just leave for a while and make a reappearance later like nothing happened; however, unlike Jeremy and Matt, she isn’t treated this way in the narrative. Caroline is made out to be more important than she is. I didn’t realize how long this ask would be, but if you could change the story structure of TVD to fix this, how would you do it? Would you have written Caroline to have more individual storylines or would you have decreased her role? Maybe it’s just me and you would keep her the same. Idk. Either way, I’m very interested in your opinion. Especially because Caroline is the more utilized and loved character throughout this fandom and fanfiction, and I don’t know why.
first of all “catching up with your blog” what kajfklajdfklajdf
sorry it’s taken me a few days to reply, I’ve been mulling this over and it’s been kind of a long week so I’ve had to gather the bandwidth to answer
I agree with your analysis about why the show chose Caroline as Klaus’s love interest... I’ve always said that it was just so painfully obvious that they wanted to give Klaus a love interest from amongst the heroines (which: rude, he already had a love interest, it was Stefan) because he was interesting and hot. And I always assumed they picked Caroline because 1) Elena already had too many love interests even though she and Klaus had history and wicked chemistry so this still to me remains the obvious choice 2) Bonnie would have actually had moral problems with Klaus (but would still have been a great choice because then we could explore those morality issues with Klaus) and 3) they wanted to do another “bad boy” romance without actually digging into the fact that Klaus had crossed lines for us as an audience that were SUPER hard to come back from, namely: MURDERING MAIN CAST MEMBER JENNA. (I would argue that this is different for us as an audience than Vicki’s death because Vicki died at the beginning of the show; our emotional investment in Jenna was significantly higher after 2 full seasons with her.) So, Caroline becomes the path of least resistance because Klaus has no serious, personal history with her, and she’s not as prone toward actually making moral judgment calls as Bonnie is-- for example, she’s shown to be significantly more flexible about murder and mayhem than Bonnie is.
I’ve never thought about the fact that it was partially just that the writers didn’t have any great ideas for Caroline’s personal storyline though, and that really brings up 2 huge questions: 1) DID they assign her the Klaus romance because they didn’t know what else to do with her? and 2) did that romance storyline actually deprive her of other (better) storylines?
This got me thinking about Caroline’s storylines in a broader sense, and her place within the narrative structure. I think of TVD as having 3 types of main characters:
A-level characters-- Elena, Stefan, and Damon are the only A-levels, as they appear in every single episode and the plot falls apart without them
B-level characters-- Bonnie, Caroline, and then later Klaus would all fit in here-- characters that are in most episodes, and have their own independent side plots that are ongoing, sometimes for long periods of time -- we know they’re B-level and not A-level because sometimes they disappear for a few episodes-- in other words, they’re not essential every episode like the A-levels
C-level characters-- the rest of the main cast-- Tyler, Matt, Jeremy, Jenna, Katherine, Rebekah, etc-- these characters sometimes have ongoing plotlines (the werewolf plot, the Hunter plot, the serial killer plot, etc) but they’re literally dispensable to the overall plot-- the writers feel comfortable having them come and go as necessary, and we often experience them through the perceptions of the higher-leveled characters--they tend to actually be the object of higher level plots as well-- Damon kills Jeremy to move his plot along with Elena; Matt scheming against Caroline’s vampirism is actually part of Caro’s plot; Katherine is mostly a  narrative tool to use with the main 3; Jenna’s death isn’t even about her at the end of the day from a narrative perspective but about Elena, etc.
So when thinking of the basic structure in this sense, that issue you brought up where Caroline doesn’t have enough of her own storylines really comes to light. Part of that I think is that functionally, she has less to offer-- Bonnie is a great counter point, because she often has her own storylines, and she serves a super strong narrative purpose of 1) witch and 2) the moral center on the show-- like, usually the only one who doesn’t forget what’s right and what’s wrong from a basic human perspective. Klaus also has his function as villain, though he gets derailed by the show not killing him off when it was time.
Caroline meanwhile... the show probably took her as far as they could with her being human, and turning her into a vampire in season 2 was incredibly strong and compelling storytelling. It brought Caroline into the main fold of schemers, it gave her agency, and it put all of her problems with her family and friends and self-esteem under a microscope lens. Season 2 is Caroline’s strongest season because it offers her the most development and gives her both a functional role as baby vampire-- working for Katherine, working with the gang, trying to keep the big secret from her mother-- as well as a satisfying emotional arc. The issue is that she just doesn’t have a ton of places to go as a character once the issues with her parents are resolved midway through season 3 and a lot of her self-esteem issues had actually been tackled... The only other storyline I can think of that was HERS was her mother’s death, but I never finished that arc and never got to no humanity!Caroline anyway, so I don’t have much to say on that topic. I will say that the show REALLY drove Caroline’s storyline into the dirt when they turned Elena into a vampire-- having two baby vamps on the show was WAY too many. We’d already gone through this with Care, but also, Elena is an A-level character-- anything she goes through necessarily usurps the power from any similar story the writers could have told about Caroline.
So. The Klauroline romance. (Apparently I’ve been mispelling this ship for a decade but honestly you can’t expect me to stop now.) I think they gave Caroline to Klaus (rather than giving Klaus to Caroline) as a love interest for the reasons stated above, but it really did limit her character; I’ve gone over my problems with it ad nauseam here on this blog. The whole thing just spun Caroline around in circles forever-- I remember dreading that this ship would be canon but the show just kept spinning the Klaus/Caroline/Tyler wheels for two seasons without ever really progressing anything or changing anything, just always always always spinning in place, with Tyler disappearing to make room for the other ship but the writers also not actually committing to anything... It really does get in the way of Caroline’s character development.
So, how to fix?
Well, first off, I think Caroline (and Bonnie, and Klaus, and everyone else) should stay in their lanes as B or C level characters-- the show didn’t have enough stories to give every single one of them main character status, and that’s okay.
But if Caroline is a B-level character, she still needs her own stories and subplots interwoven throughout the show.
The obvious thing that comes to mind is something I’ve said many times--  Fix Klauroline so that it actually makes sense and doesn’t break character-- give them a subplot where they have to work together and learn to rely on each other or see each other differently than how they expect-- literally TVD is amazing with tight, action packed episodes-- it would have taken ONE episode to establish this, and then have the relationship progress as a subplot-- not as Caroline’s main plot-- give her other things to work on with the team and let the Klaus thing develop alongside it.
Other things: the issues with her parents probably could have been extended to be season 3, honestly, with her facing her vampirism more in season 2-- or she could have gone off the deep end earlier, or she could have wound up in trouble with the council, or she could have taken a more active role in trying to kill Klaus other than just “bait” which would have been great because then she would have had to face her feelings about it directly, or she could have been the one to investigate the vampire lab at Whitmore and maybe end up briefly imprisoned or whatever-- I personally think Elena should have only been a vampire for one season, which would have made Elena actually face her moral crisis, but also opened up the space in the show for Caroline to get the young vampire storylines the way that Bonnie gets the witch storylines.
The show gets into this weird habit at some point of forgetting that it’s really about the main three and not supposed to be a HUGE equal ensemble show-- if you look back at the promotional materials, it was originally always the three of the main triangle, but by seasons 5 & 6 there’re these photos with like all dozen cast members... equalizing things didn’t actually help Caroline’s or Bonnie’s or anyone else’s storylines because it stripped down the time we spent with the main story and it meant adding a lot of frustrating swimming in circles for the others (how many times was Bonnie dead? I can’t keep track anymore)
Sorry this is so rambly, I hope it made sense! I have a lot of feelings about Caroline-- I really loved her and the handling of her storylines from season 3 on has never sat well with me.
(As for why Caroline is the fan favorite, I do have a theory: she actually tells us what she’s thinking and feeling, so it’s easier to connect with her. Elena meanwhile rarely ever explicitly states her emotions, instead tending to brood and force us to work through what her silences mean, and Bonnie tends to bottle until she explodes--which is still easier to empathize with than Elena, because at least Bonnie eventually tells us. Meanwhile, Caroline gets upset, or she gets drunk, or she has long conversations where she spills her heart out to Stefan or Elena or Bonnie or anyone... so it’s easy to jump on board with her. That’s my theory at least.)

Ya no estoy aquí, another take on immigrant stories.
(This will have SPOILERS for Ya no estoy aqui, I recommend watching it first. It is very touching and heavy tale of belonging and loneliness)
Tumblr media
Sinopsis:
Ulises takes is the leader of the cumbia loving group Terkos in Monterrey, Mexico. But when he gets involve on a gang related accident he has to leave his home so his family and him can be safe, taking up a new home in the distant city of New York.
Writing-Directing-Acting
This piece of media was one of the best made in Mexico so far. Mexico has been growing in the production and creation of different movies which resonate with a diverse of groups. This time it was the turn of one of the most negated states and music genre ever.
Ya no estoy aqui has a well done balance in the writing, expressing and pointing out different subjects that plague the world; from immigration to corruption, from cultural sub groups to violent gangs and, in the background, the injustices a society faces when they are being neglected by the government or the violence has grown into an out of control normality.
The point of view we follow is from Ulises how he works around and moves to survive, but we can also see how the people around him reacts like the ones he left behind in Monterrey, how their lives have changed so much due to him being away and how the situation in his city is changing.
We can also see the point of view of other people who are in the same situation as Ulises, although they’re not face with as much difficulty as him due to knowing the language.
It explores how the mindset changes, how the characters experience life in the new places and how those places change them. It brings up the hardships of being an immigrant and how awfully homesick they feel, and yet we can also see how those people can act so harshly between each other, respectively how 3 of the tertiary characters treated Ulises just for the way he looked. It’s very clear they are from Mexico as well, it shows how people in general can treat each other as bad if not worse than people from a different country.
Tumblr media
Ulises is a very well made character, it shows he is a whole person with feelings, hardships and desires. The actor, Juan Daniel García Treviño, makes a great job by showing the difference between him living in his home, being happy, bright and engaging, and living in big city, where he begins to act isolated, serious and having little to nothing of humor. The change of tendencies and attitudes can be quite hard, since you’re told you need to practically change the character. You need to change who you are. That’s exactly what happens to the character and Juan Daniel does is amazingly.
The idea of being ripped away from your home, your family, your culture and being thrown into the shark tank that is, not only other country, but the most violent and cynical city in the whole country (fighting for the 1st place is Los Angeles and Texas in my inexpert opinion).
There were some odd acting moments, mostly during the group parts where Ulises is with the Terkos. And curiously, it’s not the dancing parts. It’s their interactions at times, they are a bit stiff and awkward. There are other shots where they are seen laughing and playing, and those look very natural. Maybe those shots were the first one they were doing.
The director Fernando Frias understands the importance of belonging somewhere. The whole film is about that and you can perceive it everywhere the character goes. The concept is a very important and powerful one among the sentiments of loneliness and sadness which are used as well.
Seeing the character struggle in a world that he doesn’t fit in, that he doesn’t feel its home is the main and most important thing everyone can relate to. Even if you aren’t an immigrant, you can understand how awful feeling alone and feeling an absence or emptiness in your being can feel. We can sympathize with that and maybe get a more understanding view of the people surrounding us. We only want to be understood, we only want to be seen as part of something or somewhere where one can be themselves without being a mocking or something.
Photography
Tumblr media
Amazing shots by Damian Garcia. Another work I’ve seen from his is La vida Precoz y Breve de Sabina Rivas. Between this two you can see he tends to work with darkness, not all the time just very commonly. And he does it VERY well. People have a bad habit of underexposing their scenes, to the point of ABSOLUTE DARKNESS (I’m looking at you, fucking USA horror movies that only woRK ON FUCKING BLUES AND GRAY TONES AS WELL MY GO-). Mr. Garcia does it perfectly and balanced, you can see the silouttes in the dark, you can see the movement.
The shots are very active, by this I mean they are sequence shots. Sequence shots follow the character around, there are also zoom outs and zoom ins mostly used in the flashbacks, which makes it have a more nostalgic feeling. There’s a specific shot where Ulises is dancing with los Terkos and the camera zooms out to make the shot a perfect square, showing them in the center while the rest of the screen is in almost pitch black. That scene is perfect, it doesn’t need a slow mo, it doesn’t need music, and it only needs the energy, the laughs, and the music coming from the radio to give us what Ulises want.
Tumblr media
The colors are balanced, not oversaturated but still bright enough. When it comes to viewing cities and towns, photographers tend to use a very cliché color scheme. For a city like New York it’s always kind of red, grey and blue tones that can also look very opaque, meanwhile for Mexican towns, they always use the yellowish, orange tones. One can get very tired of those you know? Which is why I’m very happy to observe this photography specially coming from a Mexican. There are very amazing photographers and Mr. Garcia will go even bigger soon with his amazing work.
Sound
Tumblr media
Awesome work, capturing the essence of what the parties and dance spots sound and feel like is a complex thing to do. Not many manage to capture something that isn’t describe as only noise. It is an experience, it’s something you feel not only hear. The music is a very important part in this movie so the way it is listened from radios, the transition from being in the plane of the character and then to a type of score, while also giving us the personal taste of Ulises is a well done edited piece.
Yuri Laguna has done a lot of works, I don’t personally know many but I did get a very good experience with this movies sound, music and effects. The sound effects sounded like something for the movie and not taken from somewhere else and sounded exactly where they are intended to do so. From the foot-steps to the mumbles between characters when they are inside a store.
I really like the scene where Ulises is at a store and he is about to buy a speaker that reminds him of his home. You can hear the boss and Ulises talking and making hand signs but you can’t understand what they are saying. It’s a little detail I really enjoy. I will have to keep an open ear for any other work of Mr. Laguna
Make up, Art and Costume design
Tumblr media
I don’t even know where to start. I’m very sure most of the places they went to are the real ones, so scouting was done very, very well and amazing to get those lovely and breathtaking shots from a high place. But the makeup?? The clothes? THE SPACES? They entire art department did so well! There are so many details that can tell you about the characters. This is what is called subtle storytelling. The scenes that stick a lot to me were the ones that took place in the home of one of Ulises friends. The whole room is dark, and her and her family are watching TV. They have anguish in their faces, and when the shot is flipped to see their backs, you can see 2 things: her phone ringing, because Ulises is trying to contact her, and the TV. Now the one thing that could caught your eye would be the phone BUT the TV has more information for you, which is how Monterrey is having not only an increase of gangs but also an increase of poverty and police violence.
The clothes are very distinguish, I don’t know much about many sub-groups. I didn’t heard of Kolombia before this movie so this is a nice look into the culture that has been popular over there. The main actor is actually from the state so maybe the costume design team got a little info from him and obviously do their own investigation. The clothing’s pop a lot, mostly due to the style (very big and long shirts and pant, and the signature white shoes of los Terkos). The hairstyle is what you would get at first sight though, it being so obviously made by the own character.
In our own modism: Se la rifaron.
I have seen very detailed works, and this one didn’t go underappreciated since the people who work in it got a nomination for an Ariel (the most prestigious Mexican film prize).
Custom design: Magdalena de la Riva y Gabriela Fernández
Make up: María Elena López y Itzel Peña García
Art design: Taísa Malouf Rodrigues y Gino Fortebuono
I didn’t found more info about this people but I’m sure they will go far if they keep up their amazing work.
Editing
Tumblr media
I’m pretty sure the final product is what the director intended. It has clean transitions and well done jump cuts, although I think they used a lot of black ins I think the rest is fine. You don’t need to do super specific or out of the box editing when it comes to a solid story that is intended to be realistic. The pace is good and going back and forward between the flashbacks and the present gives you a more dynamic story. There are some confusing points when it comes to the dream sequences, but I think that’s mostly the point of those. The character would get into points he can’t differentiate what’s real and what’s fake. His desires are interfering with his present to the point of confusion.
Editor: Yibrán Asaud and Fernando Frias.
Conclusion
Immigration is an overused theme, a very well-known subject and a problem that has been happening for years. Problem that hasn’t been fix, if countries were at least trying to fix the problems there wouldn’t have to be so many people putting their lives in danger to travel to a safer place. Then again, people have the power and sometimes power corrupts the person (which is why I think a lot of gangs exist too). Even though it is an overused them, many writers and directors have tried to make compelling stories and characters so the subject is not only forgotten but also inspiring for the people to help others, to sympathize and to understand this people.
Ulises is not a 100% good person, nor a bad person, he is a kid who just wants to spend time with his friends and have fun while doing listening to something he loves and feels a connection with.
Another story of immigration that I really enjoy is Guten Tag, Ramon but that story is way to idealistic, while Ya no estoy aqui is more realistic. There’s also La jaula de Oro but that has a very, very dark ending, realistic non the less but still with a more pessimistic and hopeless ending. This movie kind of stands in a middle ground, where the character just comes back to a changed home.
I’ve read some people saying this movie doesn’t have a resolution, but I think that’s the point. The resolution is that life doesn’t stop. A movie with an anticlimactic ending is not a bad movie (at least not all the time), it just makes you think.
Ulises returns to his home which has changed. He didn’t had the opportunity to see it change and change with it. He will have to start from 0, it’s like going to New York all over again. Life is about change and sometimes that change can come from us or others. Things will impact you one way or another, and sometimes life goes on without you.
You have to decide what to do when you are faced with harshness. Although this movie is mostly about belonging somewhere, the ending teaches you about decisions and choosing.
Ulises chooses to return home, he chooses home even when his friends have move on from him, even if his family has turned their back on him, he chooses to come back because he missed it there and not all is bad. There’s a lot of bad going, but at least he is home now. At least he is here. (Al menos el est aquí)

Rewatching Meet the New Boss

After one episode of being badmouthed in absentia, Jeffrey Mace makes his official debut and it’s obvious why the gang is not enchanted.
Fondness for corny platitudes aside - I’m totally making a drinking game out of it - until he flexes his (fake) Inhuman muscles he comes across as the poster boy for appearance over substance: the self-deprecating humor feels forced, the compliments condescending, his priorities with playing politics and P.R. inevitably ring minor compared to what the agents have faced before he came along and his friendly boss routine is probably triggering all kinds of trust issues, considering how they’ve been dealing with one form of betrayal or another pretty much constantly for the past three years.
In hindsight, he behaves like someone who’s feeling out of his depths “putting on an act full time”, as he will later say, might.
Worst of all, though, he’s not Coulson. He’s stepping into the shoes of a best friend and a beloved mentor and it was never going to be easy, even if his qualifications for the directorship hadn’t been built on a lie.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile in L.A. things are heating up and it’s not the fault of the guy whose head lights on fire.
I honestly have no clue how one should deal with grieving people with severe PTSD and suicidal tendencies but I strongly suspect that yelling at them about your pain isn’t in the manual.😒
To his credit, Mack tries a softer approach and only abandons it when the anger he feels for Daisy’s behaviour is compounded by the anger for Elena’s underhanded support (#teamyoyo 😉)
Fitz...well, Fitz can’t get past his own feelings, can he? And sees a betrayal (🙄) where there is only fear and the - certainly misguided - attempt to protect them, from her current self-destructive spiral but most of all the convinction that she is the problem (“Everyone who gets close to me ends up dying” 5x20).
It’s natural to be upset that Daisy didn’t stay and let them help her - then again, she has a right to grieve as she sees fit, not as other people want her to - and her current life choices are no doubt worrisome but the result is more guilt being piled on someone who is already blaming herself for every single thing that went wrong and is very obviously, very visibly, breaking under that weight. Metaphorically and also quite literally.
That she can’t articulate her reasons - that “I’m doing what I need to” is so loaded though, kudos to Chloe - isn’t an excuse because she shouldn’t have to.
On a practical level, Mack’s plead to “come home” is unrealistic and dangerous. In the current situation she can’t just go back to S.H.I.E.L.D. as if nothing happened, especially not with Mace in charge. She’d be arrested and handed to the military with a one way ticket to the Raft. So, really, they are making her feel worse for nothing.
Tumblr media
Riding High:
Robbie contemplates murder, against the Rider’s better judgment no less, but ends his day saving Fitz and striking a partnership with the same woman he was thinking of killing only a few hours earlier. The beginning of a beautiful...something.🤗
May’s Boundless Badassary:
Hours or possibly even a full day after she’s been “touched” by Lucy Bauer and seeing zombies, May is only now starting to crack. Her resilience never fails to impress. And of course her first instinct is to protect everyone. Then she knocks out her entire strike team plus Coulson and it takes the juiced-up Mace to stop her. No wonder Piper is charmed.😁
Quaking in Her Stylish Boots:
Watching Daisy on her own in early S4 feels like watching a more experienced pre-S.H.I.E.L.D. Skye in action, with infinitely more baggage and even less respect for legality.
The lone snooping gig, the easy charm to ingraties people she needs information from (Canelo here), the same mix of cockyness, zeal and vulnerability (with, appropriately, much darker undertones) and of course investigating the weird.
Skye had the same drive to right wrongs and make a difference but lesser tools (no spy training, no Hate Fu and no superpowers) and none of the oppressive weight of self-imposed obligations and misplaced guilt Daisy is currently cracking under. Skye was reckless out of youthful idealism. This Daisy is self-destructive. Skye was looking for her family and Daisy is running from hers but for both it’s about lost homes. And finding them again.
She’s Got the Powers:
Daisy busts out of the ropes quaking a small shockwave from her body, confirming that she doesn’t strictly need to aim her hands to resonate with the world around her. She also “flies” again, propelling herself in spectacular fashion on top of the Hell Charger.
Tumblr media
Stuff:
This room ... does it seem...? -- Like it was decorated by someone who needs to unclench? Poor Mace. He can’t even furnish the place without getting grief. 😂
Move. -- He doesn't appear to be moving. Cecilio, the big dude who doesn’t flinch under May’s stare, is my new hero. I mean, I know he has like 100 kg of muscles over her but still. He looked the Cavalry in the eye and did not blink. 😮
I try to live by a simple rule: a team that trusts is a team that triumphs. And here we go. The drinking game begins. *gulp*
It seems there's something to do with physical contact, but how is she incorporeal? -- Maybe a multidimensional event caused it. -- Like Tobias Ford. Reference to the technician “ghosted” in the explosion of a particle accelerator (1x09).
I'm stuck. Assignment for the Director. -- Seriously? -- Oh, you know, “a team that trusts is a team that triumphs”. *gulp*
What I don't have is the anonymous, unlimited funding you seemed to have before. [...] Our budget hinges on the U.N. and the Sokovia Accords and on impressing the House Appropriations Committee. Being legitimate again sounds like a veritable hassle, doesn’t it? I’d wonder how Mack dealt with the problem, except we don’t even know for sure if they were fully legitimate again in S6 so 🤷
Piper. Get the squad ready. Training in 10. -- Yes, ma'am. -- “Ma'am”? -- Is there a different title you'd prefer? Commander? Sir? -- Let's just stick to “May”. -- I can do May. I can do that, May. Oh, the Freudian slip! 😂
May’s smile while Coulson is nerding out about Peggy and the SSR is a big mood.
Threaten me all you want. You think I'm afraid to die? -- I think you want it. No doubt. You got a death wish. Coming back to find me after I let you live. I feel very confident that she would have come back even without her current negative outlook on this bothersome thing called living. But point absolutely taken.
You know, we're not so different, you and me. Yeah, you just feel bad for the dead in your wake. I don't feel anything. -- If that were true, you would've killed me by now. Circumstances are quite different - for one thing Daisy isn’t being tortured - but this reminded me of Bobbi coolly seeing through Ward’s self-delusions while held captive. And here Daisy coolly sees through Robbie’s facade. The Rider is the merciless killer, he, on the other hand, cares, even if he tries not to.
I said I'm not what you are. -- You're enhanced, and you just said that we're not that different. I'm sorry, but you just said that....like 10 seconds ago. With an upbeat delivery, this would totally be Skye.
Great idea. -- But maybe not the best idea, Director. [...] What happened? -- There was an incident. Blood everywhere. Not a great time. 😂
Creepy -- You ever notice we never get to check up on a bright-lit place filled with nice, friendly people? Just wait for Season 5, Mack. Abandoned labs and interdimensional ghosts will feel like a picnic on a sunny spring day.
As sedating delirious people goes, Mace’s method seems especially unsafe.
I said the new Director should be a powered person the public could trust. And they came up with you. Careful, Phil, he may get the wrong idea and think you don’t like him 😁
There's no one better than you, truly. But when it comes to May and Daisy, you can't be objective. And to that, I take exception. Well, that makes one of you. Also, the last guy who played the objectivity card with Coulson ended up dead as a statue. Literally.
Your friends with you? -- No. I left them. -- Good. He’s known her for like a day and Robbie has already reached the last stage of Daisy Johnson stanning. 🤣😉

OLD FLAME MASTERLIST: CLICK HERE
Your eyes peer open, blinking numerously to gain focus of the surroundings of your bedroom. The comforter over you did not fail to keep you warm. You sit up, throwing the covers off of you and setting your feet to the floor as you make your way to your en-suite bathroom to start on your morning routine. Brush. Floss. Shower.
Once you are dressed and ready to start on your day, you waltz down the long hallway towards the stairs to the kitchen on the first floor. Stefan is already awake, sitting on the dining chair table, reading a newspaper. You noticed his plate of hash browns and bacon is half finished. Alongside is an empty coffee mug.
It has been over a year that you have been living with the Salvatore brothers. Damon was the first brother you befriended. You’re a bartender at the Mystic Grill and Damon was a regular there. There was a night that you happened to be at a bar across town with a group of friends and Damon happened to be there. The two of you got a few drinks in and the next morning, you wake up in the bedroom of your apartment with a naked Salvatore brother beside you.
After that night, you never slept together again. However, you ended up becoming very close friends. To the point where he trusted telling you about his vampire nature.
You chose to stay on the sidelines when it came to the supernatural drama with Damon’s gang, but you surprisingly ended up being romantically involved with an enemy of theirs. Niklaus Mikaelson.
You even made a bold decision to give up your apartment and move in with someone you thought you’d have forever with. He is the one who turned you.
But things went downhill from being caught in the middle and you broke it off. The Salvatore brothers suggested you live with them since getting a place of your own is a hassle.
When reality set in and your belongings vacated Klaus’s mansion, a wave of pain hit you. You took a few days off of work and locked yourself in your new bedroom. Even blocking out your friends. Feeling so distraught for days from the heartache, you started to regret your decision.
And after finally deciding to clean yourself up, you grabbed your car keys and drove to the hybrid’s mansion, hoping you could mend things. But you found that his place was completely empty and learned from a neighbor that he moved out the day before.
Every now and then you’d have the urge to call his phone. But your pride would not allow it. It eventually got to the point where you deleted his number entirely. And nowadays he rarely crosses your mind.
“Morning.” Stefan greeted, eyes never leaving the newspaper.
“I’m guessing Damon’s still asleep from his night out.” You rolled your eyes playfully.
“Yup. Coffee’s cold. But I threw in your favorite ingredient.”
“You know me too well.” Your eyes widened in excitement from the filled coffee mug with dark roast, a teaspoon of hazelnut creamer and spoonfuls of your favorite ingredient. Human blood. Standing, you brought the cup to your lips, savoring each sip as if it were your last. “Thanks Stefan.” You said. Stefan responded with a hum.
“I wanna read.” You made known, sitting on the chair beside him.
“You lot should really lock your doors.” A familiar female voice with a distinct accent caught both of your attentions. Rebekah Mikaelson. Also known as the sister you never had.
“Rebekah?” Stefan said questionably.
“What are you doing here?” A line appeared between your brows. You’re delighted, yet bewildered that she’s here.
“How impolite. Nobody missed me?” Rebekah placed her hands over her hips, slightly tilting her head as she’s fake pouting.
You shake your head. “Sorry, Beks. I’m just shocked. That’s all. It’s been way too long.” The corners of your mouth quirked up and you bring her in for a hug. You hadn’t realized you missed her until your arms wrapped around her.
“I see you live with the Salvatores. Now, which one is your man candy?” Rebekah smirked. Flickering her eyes from you and Stefan.
“Ew. Neither of them.” You walked past Rebekah, guiding her to the infamous living room, sitting beside each other on the sofa. “Damon’s with Elena and Stefan’s...Stefan’s my friend. Anyways, what brings you to town? You missed me that much?” You raised a brow.
“Oh sister, I do. But that isn’t my reason.” Rebekah glanced away nervously, bringing you to narrow your eyes in curiosity.
“It’s about Nik.” She said.
A chill ran down your spine and your heart sank into your chest. You swallowed, rising to your feet. Unsure how to react hearing a name that you felt like you haven’t heard in ages.
You took in a deep breath before responding. “What about him?”
“My brother has been out of our control-”
“Okay? That’s not news.”
“This is different. Sure he was a pain in the ass after you split-”
“I’m aware. And he got some wolf girl pregnant too. What’s this have to do with me? Aren’t they a happy family now?”
“Bloody hell, Y/N. If you don’t let me finish!” Rebekah shot up, clenching her fists at her sides.
“Fine fine. Sorry.” You threw your hands up in defense.
“First of all, my brother and Haley are not romantically involved. The pregnancy was an accident and a miracle. Secondly, I am here because...because he lost his daughter and he’s in a lot of pain. None of us are able to tame him.”
“What are you trying to say? That I can?” You chuckled darkly.
Rebekah sighed dramatically before responding. “As mad as it sounds. I believe that you can, Y/N.”
“This sounds insane. I haven’t seen him or spoke to him in over a year.”
“And?”
“What do you mean, and?”
“Nik still loves you, you know.”
“Yeah right. If he still loves me, he…” You glanced away, clearing your throat as you nearly choked on your words. “He would’ve called.”
“You broke his heart, Y/N. And you know how bloody prideful my brother can be.”
“Okay well I don’t know what to tell you. That part of my life is over. I’m sorry you flew all the way here for nothing. Next time call me. I have to go.” This conversation about your ex started to aggravate you, so you started marching out the door.
“Well I’m not leaving without you! Whether you like or or not!” Rebekah shouted to your back.
Sure, you felt a little bad for brushing off Rebekah. Especially since she flew all the way here to come and see you. Well...use you.
(Meanwhile…)
Rebekah fought to keep her frustration with you in check. She pulled her phone from her back pocket and called her brother, Elijah.
“Elijah, Y/N won’t budge. She’s just as stubborn as Nik.” Rebekah muttered over the phone to her noble brother.
Elijah sighed in his unique way. “She is by far our only hope, sister. Do keep trying.” Click.
“What the hell are you doing here, blondie?” Damon appeared under the threshold with a puzzled expression, glass of human blood in hand.
“I am here for your stubborn little roommate. I plan to bring her back with me to New Orleans.” Rebekah slightly raised her nose in the air, feigning confidence that she’ll succeed in her task.
“Y/N and NOLA? No doubt she’ll run into her ex.” Damon briefly widened his eyes.
Her chin tilted downwards at eye level with Damon, eyes narrowed. “That’s the bloody point.”
“Am I hearing you correctly?” Damon stepped towards Rebekah, standing merely inches apart. “What does that psycho need with her? He’s grown and her life is…” He glanced away. “...decent here.”
“What’s going on?” Stefan appeared in Damon’s previous spot, brows furrowed.
“The original sister plans to reunite Y/N with her ex. All the way to the French quarter.” Damon replied, raising a brow.
Stefan snorted in amusement, grinning with his arms folded over his chest. “You have an extra plane ticket too, right?”
“We don’t need you, Stefan. Just Y/N.” Rebekah spat.
“Sorry let me clarify.” Stefan started, “The new burden in town is obsessed with Y/N. He’ll follow her wherever she goes.”
“He follows and Nik will tear him apart.” Rebekah responded bluntly. “He doesn’t do well with jealousy.”
Stefan and Damon glanced at each other with excitement. “We’re in.” The brothers said in sync.  Now, they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of your follower permanently. Even if it means sending you away to rekindle an old flame because their new enemy has caused too much havoc in Mystic Falls.
Rebekah steals Damon’s glass and plops herself on the couch. “Now who in Mystic Falls is obsessed with my sister?”

Recommended Music: In the Moment (Choices)
After the battle against the new Sea Guardian, Gyarados, Taari and the rest of the gang gather in front of Taylor, Jake and Quinn.
Quinn: Thank you so much, guys, for keeping the Guardian at bay and incapacitate it before we got here.
Jake: Well... I’m still a bit annoyed that the new one is a lot easier to deal with than the last one. We had to take on Cetus three times! THREE TIMES!! That son of a bitch even had three heads on our final battle with him.
Jake crosses his arms and pouts while Taylor smiles shyly and calms down her husband.
Taylor: But really, thank you much, guys.
Bligh approaches Taylor and shakes her hand while Jake nods at him.
Blight: Glad to help, Taylor.
After expressing their gratitude, Taylor and Jake turn towards their daughter, Kaitlyn and her Lucario.
Jake: But what I’m most happy about is that our li’l Marshmallow’s partner is finally evolved.
Jake proceeds to pat Lucario’s head as the latter wags his tail. Taylor hugs Kaitlyn proudly.
Taylor: I’m so happy for you, Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn: Thanks, Mama, Papa.
The two parents smile at their child. Taylor reaches for her handbag and pulls out a special box. She hands it to Kaitlyn.
Taylor: It’s time, my dear.
Kaitlyn slowly opens the box and her eyes light up. The box seems to contain a bracelet with a Mega Stone.
Kaitlyn: Is... is that...?
Taylor and Jake nod as Kaitlyn quickly dons the bracelet. She and her friends take a moment to admire her new accessory.
Kaitlyn: It’s so beautiful.
Mika: It matches you.
Reginald: That looks just as magnificent as my Mega accessory.
Taari: I wonder when I’ll get mine.
Kaitlyn turns back to her parents.
Kaitlyn: Thank you so much!
She rushes towards them and pulls them in a tight and loving embrace. They hold each other for a moment and pull away.
Jake: Now go out there and kick some butt, li’l Marshmallow.
Taylor: Jake!
Kaitlyn: Haha. Okay, Papa.
Taylor, Jake and Quinn say their goodbyes to the group and make their way towards the Prisma City route. Aryn and Izzy turn to the groups as they have plans of their own.
Aryn: Well, Izzy and I are going back to Aryndelle to deal with those... pffft... boring political discussions.
Izzy giggles and continues.
Izzy: We’ll be back by the time the next contest starts. In the meantime, you guys enjoy your journey to Quarr’tel Town and Ursidae Town.
Aryn, Izzy and the princesses pull themselves into another family group hug. In the midst of it, they turn to Blight. The man startles at their stare.
Blight: What?
Rachel: Join us, Uncle Blight!
Meg: Yeah!
Elena: There’s still room for you.
Izzy: Come on, Blight.
Blight rubs his head shyly.
Blight: Well... uhh... group hugs are not really my thing...
Aryn gives him an unamused look.
Aryn: Get in the hug, your freeloader.
Blight: I am not a freeloader.
Vishakha remains silent as her eyes gleam red. She leaves the group hug and approaches her uncle. She then grabs his collar and drags him across the ground towards the group hug. Blight struggles while Katherine giggles.
Vishakha: You’re getting in that hug.
Vishakha throws him into the group and turns to Katherine with a bright smile.
Vishakha: Wanna join us, Katherine?
Katherine: Sure!
The redhead girl skips merrily towards the Aryndelle Family while Blight stands and dusts himself off. The two then proceed to hug with the rest of the family, enjoying each other’s company. As they pull apart, Aryn and Izzy wave goodbye to everyone.
Recommended Music: Eterna Forest (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl)
The rest of the group then exit the gates of Orderve City and journey through the Forest of Rebirth. As they admire the beautiful trees around them, Meg asks...
Meg: So why was this called the “Forest of Rebirth”?
Taari, Reginald and Kaitlyn turn to her with an answer.
Taari: Well... around nine to ten years ago, after Mister Tyler and Miss Taylor saved the world and the Vaanti have revealed themselves to the world, the island has gone through a lot of changes.
Reginald: My parents told me that the World Government sent out environmentalists to the island to start a Tree Planting program on this very forest surrounding Quarr’tel Town.
Kaitlyn: The forest was once burned down due to a civil war among the Vaanti. And after the program, the forest looked so new, like it was reborn. That’s why it’s called the “Forest of Rebirth”.
Meg: Ooooh. I see.
As they continue their way, Vishakha glances to the side and spots a familiar Pokémon, a wild Pikachu. She stops in her tracks and squeals.
Vishakha: AAAHH!! A Pikachu!!
She then skips merrily towards the Pikachu while chanting its cries.
Vishakha: Pi~ka! Pi~ka!
But before she could reach it, she is lightly punched on her head by Blight. She then stops and crouches down, holding her head.
Vishakha: Ow ow ow...
Blight: Let’s not waste time here, your Highness. The next contest is in a week.
Blight grabs the back of her collar and gently drags her back to the group. Vishakha crosses her arms and pouts.
Tumblr media
Vishakha: You’re the worst, Jester...
Blight: I know.
While Blight drags Vishakha back to the group, he notices them looking towards the sky. He stops and looks up as well. Vishakha starts ranting.
Vishakha: Hey! What’s the big deal?! Why did we stop?!
Blight accidentally lets go of her collar and she drops on the ground.
Vishakha: OW! HEY!!
She turns to glare at him but also notices something in the sky. The group spots a peculiar comet, with blue and orange streak lines.
Rachel: What is THAT?
Reginald: I... I don’t know. I’ve read a lot about space but I’ve never seen that kind of comet before.
Elena: Well, the fact that it’s barely moving from this view, it means that’ll probably take a few months for it to noticeably move.
The group shrugs off the comet as Blight helps Viskaha back up. She glares at him again for a few seconds before walking ahead. Blight chuckles and follows. With the group just halfway towards Quarr’tel town, they stop at a fork on the path.
Mika: Huh... the road seems to split here...
Kaitlyn: Both paths lead to Quarr’tel Town, but I can’t tell which is the shorter path...
While the group thinks about the situation, Blight looks at the left path and Vishakha looks at the right path.
Blight: This way...
Vishakha: This way...
Recommended Music: Whachoo Lookin’ At?! (Choices)
The two best friends startle at each other’s response and glare at each other. They start to debate.
Blight: The left path is the shorter path.
Vishakha: No. The right one is.
Blight: Wanna bet?!
Vishakha: Yeah!
Everyone else: Here we go...
The group cross their arms and give the two an unamused look.
Vishakha: Last person between us to reach Quarr’tel Town will get to treat the winner and everyone else.
Blight: Deal!
The two then proceed to grip each other’s hands tightly and shake them aggressively.
Blight: How do you manage to shake hands firmly and aggressively at the same time?
Vishakha: I took a seminar.
Blight: Where?
(Note: The last three lines is a reference to Brooklyn 99 Season 1 Ep. 13.)
After the agreement, they turn to the others.
Vishakha: So, who wants to join my team?
Everyone else: Eh?
Blight: Don’t worry. You guys won’t take part on the bet. We just need some company.
Vishakha: Plus, it’s a way for us to bond.
Everyone else: Got it.
After a few seconds, Taari and Reginald step up.
Taari: I wanna join Mister Blight. He seems to be an awesome person!
Reginald: Agreed. I want to know more about his battle tactics.
Blight: Great! One step closer to victory!
Vishakha: Pffft. Yeah, right.
Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Mika walks towards Vishakha.
Kaitlyn: We’ll take her Highness’s side.
Mika: It’s a way for us to bond and maybe share ideas for the next contest.
Vishakha: Aww. I’m flattered. And also... don’t call me, “Your Highness”. Only Jester has the right to call me that.
Kaitlyn and Mika tilt their head in confusion.
Kaitlyn: Really?
Vishakha: He’s the only one allowed to call me that. It gives me a sense of uniqueness.
Blight: Plus it shows us that, even though we tease each other, we’re still best friends.
Katherine: Those two are basically the very definition of best friends.
Mika: Oh! I get it now.
After a few minutes, the two teams are finally formed. Blight’s team is composed of him, Katherine, Taari, Reginald and Elena. Meanwhile, Vishakha’s team is composed of her, Meg, Rachel, Mika and Kaitlyn.
Tumblr media
Vishakha: Alright, now let’s settle team na--
Blight: TEAM FORGE MASTERS!!
At the mention of the name, Blight’s team react differently. Katherine giggles; Taari cheers along; Reginald crosses his arms and smiles; and Elena does a face palm.
Vishakha: Alright... then our name would be Team Pri--
Blight: TEAM PRINCESS!
Vishakha glares at Blight while he shrugs. Everyone else smiles shyly.
Blight: Great minds think alike, your Highness.
Vishakha: Hmph!
The group disperse and went on their separate ways. Meanwhile, a hidden camera among the trees observes the group. A familiar voice contacts Zahra in Quarr’tel Town.
Voice: L1Ch-qU33n, the children have passed the intersection, along with the royals of Aryndelle.
Zahra: About time they got here. At least they’re safe after all that Sea Guardian bullcrap. Alright, I’ll be making the preparations. Meet them at the gates and welcome them.
Voice: Understood.
Recommended Music: Eterna Forest (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl)
On the left path towards Quarr’tel Town, Blight walks ahead of the group while the others try to match his pace. Taari runs up to Blight.
Taari: So, Mister Blight. What are you to Aryndelle exactly?
Blight: Well, I am the Master of the Foundry, aka the guy who does the technological advancements there.
Taari: Ooooh.
Blight smiles at Taari’s interest and continues.
Blight: You see... Long ago, Aryndelle was once split into five Kingdoms; Abanthus, Ebrimel, Bellmere, Fydoria and Stormholt. After the war against the Iron Empire, the five Kingdoms have agreed to merge into one, along with their allies from Aurelia and the Foundry. And when Aryn was sworn in as queen, she named it Aryndelle.
Taari: Wow...
Blight: I know right?!
Reginald: What about your way of combination moves?
Blight turns to Reginald.
Reginald: How did you come up with such amazing combos?
Blight chuckles and answers the question.
Blight: When in the state of a battle, you have to make sure that you’re unpredictable so that your opponent won’t come up with a countermeasure. I’ve experimented on different kinds of combination moves to come up with the best of the best.
Taari and Reginald’s eyes light up, while Elena shrugs and smirks.
Elena: Trust me. Out of everyone in Aryndelle, he’s won the most battles. And even if he wins against Aryn more often, he never challenged her for her throne.
Katherine: I love his humility.
Elena: Yeah... right... “Humility”.
Elena rolls her eyes. Meanwhile, Katherine catches up to Blight as the two smile at each other and kiss.
Recommended Music: Again (Your Lie in April)
Meanwhile on the right path towards Quarr’tel Town, Vishakha also walks ahead of her own group, with Kaitlyn and Mika catching up to her.
Kaitlyn: So, Miss Vishakha...?
Vishakha: No need for the “Miss”, Kaitlyn. Vishakha will do.
Kaitlyn: Okay.
Vishakha: So what’s up?
Kaitlyn: How did you come up with such great performances?
Vishakha contemplates for a brief moment and gives her answer.
Vishakha: Sometimes... I stay up all night to think and practice...
Mika: Won’t that be bad for you?
Vishakha: It is but...
She smiles and looks up to the sky.
Vishakha: ...Jester’s always there for me.
Mika: You guys mess around so much, yet you still care each other so much. How’d you two meet?
Vishakha: It was when I first visited the Foundry when I was six years old...
[FLASHBACK]
Inside the Forge, the home of the Master of the Foundry, Izzy and a young Vishakha are walking around.
Izzy: Alright, dear. Mommy will be back. She just have to meet up with a good friend.
Vishakha: Okay, Izzy-mommy.
Izzy leaves Vishakha for a bit. As she waits for her mother to return, Vishakha curiously finds a room full of machinery. When she walks over to touch one of them, she wounds herself. Vishakha clutches her wounded finger while muttering.
Vishakha: Ow ow ow...
A few seconds later, a young man with goggles enters the room and spots her.
Blight: Hey, what are you doing here?
Vishakha doesn’t answer him. She remains silent and scared. Blight approaches her while taking out a small bandage. He gently holds her hand and binds the wound. He then smiles at her.
Blight: All better, your Highness.
Blight grins while Vishakha tilts her head in confusion.
Vishakha: “Your... Highness”?
Blight: You are Princess Vishakha, right? I think it suits you.
Vishakha giggles and points towards Blight.
Vishakha: Jester!
Blight: Uhh... what?
Vishakha: You made me smile and feel better. I want you to be my Jester!
Tumblr media
[END OF FLASHBACK]
Kaitlyn: Wow. I didn’t realize you guys were THAT close after all the shenanigans you do.
Vishakha: We may tease each other a lot but that’s just on the outside. He’s not just my uncle... he’s my best friend.
Mika: Can the three of us be like that?
Vishakha: Of course! Maybe we may not be as close as I am with Jester but still very close friends.
Recommended Music: Surf and Sand (ES)
After walking for a while, the group’s stomachs all roar at once.
Meg: Well... this is awkward.
Rachel: Yeah... all at the same time.
Meanwhile...
Elena: Can you imagine if the other groups stomachs roared at the same time as ours?
After saying the same things, all members of both groups laugh. After a few minutes, they’ve set up their makeshift tables and prepared food. They’ve even called out their own Pokémon to join them.
On Blight’s group, they are having Onigiri (Japanese Rice Balls). Whilst eating, the group start to bond. Taari, Reginald and Elena are discussing battle tactics with Blight while Katherine leans on his shoulder and smiles at their conversation. On the other hand, Reginald’s Metagross and Nidoking have friendly competitions, like arm-wrestling, after not seeing each other for a long time. The other Pokémon around them cheer.
On Vishakha’s group, they are having Rice Crackers. Whilst eating, Vishakha, Kaitlyn and Mika are practicing their performances. Meanwhile, Rachel and Meg are seated on a log, watching the practice and playing with Vishakha’s Pikachu. Some of the Pokémon practice with the three contestants, while the others cheer and jump around.
Few minutes have passed and Taari spots a Joltik nearby. He approaches it and picks it up.
Taari: Aww... aren’t you a cute one?
Reginald and Blight cautiously get close to Taari.
Reginald: I don’t think that’s a good idea, Taari.
Blight: Yeah... Joltik’s can be very dangerous.
Taari grins at them and proceeds to gently scratch Joltik.
Taari: You don’t know what you’re saying guys.
Joltik then uses Thunderbolt and electrocutes Taari. The boy suffers for a little before the Attaching Pokémon leaps off of his hand. Taari falls on the ground while the rest of the group look at him, hilariously disappointed.
Meanwhile, everyone in Vishakha’s are playing with Pikachu after practicing. But what they don’t realize is that Pikachu is now feeling uncomfortable. She begins releasing sparks on her cheeks. Vishakha flinches and tries to warn the group.
Vishakha: Uhh...
But before she could warn them, Pikachu has already unleashed Thunderbolt. The attack electrocutes everyone, including the other Pokémon, but does not affect Vishakha. She just stands there, taking the attack, and shrugs.
Vishakha: Ehh... this doesn’t affect me anymore...
Pikachu eventually stops and everyone falls to the ground. Few more minutes have passed and everyone is set up. They continue on their journey towards Quarr’tel Town.
Once reaching the intersection and with the gate to the town in sight, Blight and Vishakha spot each other and start to run towards the gate. For a brief moment, Vishakha spots the determination in Blight’s eyes. She then slows down on purpose to let him win. As he reaches the gate, Blight starts to cheer.
Blight: I did it! I DID IT!! I finally won a bet against her Highne--
Suddenly, a small machine near the gate quickly displays a hologram right in front of Blight, causing him to startle and fall on the ground.
Blight: Woah!!
I.R.I.S.: Welcome, friends of the L1Ch-qU33n. My name is I.R.I.S. and welcome to Quarr’tel.
Tumblr media
As everyone approaches I.R.I.S., Blight stands up and dusts himself off.
Blight: Geez, remind me to add “Avoid startling people” on your program, I.R.I.S.
I.R.I.S.: I apologize, Sir Blight. But the L1Ch-qU33n requested me to greet you once you pass the gate.
Rachel: “L1Ch-qU33n”?
Kaitlyn: I think she means Zahra Namazi.
Meg: The Gym Leader and new Clockmaker of Quarr’tel Town?
Reginald: The very same...
Reginald approaches I.R.I.S. and smiles.
Reginald: Hello, grandmother.
Everyone else: WHAT?!
While everyone in the group is startled with what Reginald said, Blight and Kaitlyn remain calm.
Taari: Y-you two... are related...?
Mika: How?! She’s an A.I.!
Elena: This is some weird shi--
Vishakha: Language...
After a minute of regaining composure, the group huddles around I.R.I.S.
Mika: So, what’s the story between how you’re... err... family?
Reginald: Well, before she was a hologram designed by my twisted grandfather, she was originally human. Her true name is Imogen Rourke. She may not be my grandmother, technically but she still sees me as her grandson.
Taari: Oooh. I get it now.
As the group discuss, they are called out by a familiar voice.
Voice: Finally! It was getting boring waiting for you guys.
The group turns to see Zahra grinning at them.
Tumblr media
She turns to Blight.
Zahra: ‘Sup, Blight. Whatcha doing here?
Blight: Just wanted to see how I.R.I.S. is doing. Plus I wanted to accompany these kids.
I.R.I.S.: My status is at a normal rating, Blight. But if you’re willing to make advancements, then I’d be happy to accept updates.
Blight hands Zahra an envelope and a flash drive.
Blight: Here’s everything you need to increase her capabilities.
Zahra: Dope. Alright, I’m off. I’ll see the little runts by the gym tomorrow.
Zahra and I.R.I.S. bid farewell to the group as they wave to them. Afterwards, they head towards a Japanese-style restaurant. As they take their seats and have finished ordering their food, Blight and Vishakha discuss.
Vishakha: I guess you won, Jester.
Blight: Yeah... but not technically...
Vishakha’s smile falters as she sees the doubt on Blight’s face.
Blight: You lost on purpose didn’t you?
Vishakha: ...Yeah.
Blight pulls her into a warm hug as she hugs her back.
Vishakha: You’ve been losing a lot of our bets lately, Jester. I just thought that giving you a win would make you really happy...
Blight: I know. But seeing you happy is more important to me. And I don’t mind losing if that’s what it takes to see you smile. That is why... I’m sharing the pay with you.
Vishakha: ...Thank you, Jester...
The two linger in each other’s embrace as Vishakha takes a cookie from her cookie box and hands it to Blight.
Vishakha: Here, Cookieless man.
Blight grins and humbly takes the cookie. As the night goes on, everyone enjoyed each other’s company while having such a wonderful dinner.
After a bonding journey, everyone has finally reached Quarr’tel Town. How will Taari, Reginald, Kaitlyn and Elena handle their battle against Zahra after learning from Aryndelle’s Best? FIND OUT ON THE NEXT CHAPTER OF POKÉMON SUMMER VERSION!!

Warrior Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Learn to Endure, or Hire a Bodyguard
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Warrior review contains spoilers.
Warrior Season 2 Episode 1
Now that the Warrior world is established, the season 2 premiere concerns itself with more character development and the interweaving of story arcs. The action, however,  is even more promising as the season premiere opens with (what else?) a fight scene.
When we rejoin Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), he’s getting beaten and bloodied again, locked in combat in a new no-holds-barred arena, the Barbary Coast Fight Pit, and flashing back to his brutal defeat by at the hands of Li Yong (Joe Taslim) last season. It’s a decent fight scene that shows off Koji’s intensity. His manager (and new cast addition), Rosalita Vega (Maria-Elena Laas) senses that he’s working out some issues since Ah Sahm is back with the Hop Wei and doesn’t need to earn money in the pit. He’s got something to prove and it may take all of season 2 to prove it. And as the show catches up with the rest of the cast, it’s clear that Ah Sahm isn’t the only one starting anew.
While bringing flowers to the graves of his wife and two boys, Dylan Leary (Dean Jagger) crosses paths with another new addition, Sophie Mercer (Celine Buckens). Despite their class differences, they spark an immediate chemistry, teasing of things to come. Sophie is a promising addition to this season. She’s a fresh young face that brings a new spunk to the show. Unfortunately, her personal values come from a position of naive entitlement, which will surely backfire in the world of Warrior. Later, tensions grow over breakfast between Mayor Samuel Blake (Christian McKay) and Penelope Blake (Joanna Vanderham) about her hiring of coolies in her metal factory, Mercer Steel, an action that opposes his political platform. When Sophie joins them, she proves to be another thorn in Samuel’s side. The sisters have their own tension with Sophie being young and idealist while Penelope is jaded and pragmatic.
Meanwhile, back at the brothel, Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng) makes a sexy entrance down a spiral staircase in a resplendent cheongsam dress, showing off how season 2 is prepared to elaborate on its costumes. Until now, the fashion in Warrior has been strictly period. This season, Ah Toy’s outfits and makeup have gone overboard with outrageously baroque fantasy outfits. Ah Toy’s mascara looks more like something from a modern day rave than the late 19th century, but it’s still San Francisco, after all. The fantastic costume design echoes the precedent martial arts series, Into the Badlands, which was a fantasy where all the attire was dazzling. Warrior also imitates Into the Badlands with its guitar riff soundtrack but will have to step up its fight choreography to reach their level.
As she tends to Ah Sahm’s post-fight injuries, they discuss a new gang that he saw at the Barbary Coast, the Teddy Boys, who wear cut off queue trophies on their jackets like scalps. Ah Sahm wants revenge but Ah Toy has reservations. They’ve been too active lately and she doesn’t want to draw more attention from the Bulls (the SFPD). But Ah Sahm is resolute and Ah Toy concedes to help him. The relationship between Ah Sahm and Ah Toy is developing. They are more like siblings than Ah Sahm and Mai Ling and it’ll be interesting to see how that progresses in Season 2. It’s refreshing to see them not fall into a sexual relationship, as most of the other couples on this show do in typical soap opera fashion.
Bill O’Hara (Kieran Biew) is still working as a debt collector for Zing (Dustin Nguyen) to settle accounts from season 1. Later, O’Hara tries to escape his service to the Fung Hai Tong, but takes money from Zing anyway. O’Hara uses it to buy steak for his family, but his wife Lucy (Emily Child) grows suspicious about where he’s getting it. O’Hara knows being a Tong-controlled cop won’t end well.
While walking about Chinatown, Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) and Li Yong meet a lemon vendor. Like Ah Toy, Mai Ling’s costumes are also leveling up. While Ah Toy’s dresses are becoming more sexy (befitting of a brothel madame), Mai LIng’s outfits are now leaning more towards a fantasy warrior princess. The exaggerated costumes are anachronisms but serve to distance the fiction from history. And the exotic clothing is easy on the eyes. Seeing that the vendor’s wife is sick, Mai Ling shows some compassion and buys their entire stock of fruit. Then they cross paths with Ah Sahm and Young Jun (Jason Tobin) and more tensions percolate.
Ah Sahm and Mai Ling cross at a temple where she is offering lemons to the altar for their deceased parents. Warrior takes some liberties with Chinese culture here because lemons aren’t common funerary offerings. They are usually only used when certain rituals call for five fruits. The five fruits represent the five elements and are colored green, yellow, red, white, and black, and lemons would be used for the yellow. The most common fruits for offering are oranges, which stands outside the five element color scheme. However, while California is a major orange producer now, those might not have gotten to San Francisco as readily back in the 19th century. Lemons are commonly grown throughout the area so perhaps the writers are accurate here. Afterwards, Li Yong and Ah Sahm stare each other down, teasing an inevitable rematch.
The Teddy Boys cut the queue off a Chinese man, accusing him of stealing jobs, raping their women, and bringing disease. Sound familiar? Warrior has become uncomfortably timely in regards to modern day politics. The Teddy Boys start to lynch the man, but Ah Sahm, Ah Toy and Lai (Jenny Umbhau) come to his rescue and kill all the gangsters in a bloody act of vengeance. It’s a sanguineous fight scene with throat slitting, dismemberment, and lots of gratuitous sword stabbing. Most of the fight sequences here are one action to one take where it is simple to swap in stunt people. Koji delivers some nice more complex combos that show off his martial arts background and Umbhau demonstrates her acrobatic skill.
Umbhau is a stuntwoman by trade and perfectly cast in Warrior. While many of the cast have come to Warrior with minimal martial arts background, Umbhau stands alongside Koji, Nguyen and Taslim, all of whom have practiced martial arts long before they joined the show. She came to the U.S. to be part of Cirque du Soleil, but the show was unfortunately shut down and she’s been stuck in the states due to the pandemic ever since. Hopefully, her exposure on Warrior will bring her more opportunities to move on.
O’Hara and Lee confiscate Wang Chao’s (Hoon Lee) illegal weapon cache to pressure him into giving up the swordsman. Chao deflects O’Hara by implying he knows about his connections to Zing. Merriweather (Andre Jacobs) continues to pressure Penelope to buy Mercer Steel, when the injured coolies arrive. Back at the brothel, Ah Sahm tries to buy a lead on an alternate molasses source from Chao, but he denies him. Chao tells Ah Toy to cool it with the vengeance because it’s affecting his business. Ah Toy serves Chao tea, which he accepts casually with one hand, a Chinese faux pas because tea is always accepted with both hands, even when poured by a whorehouse madam. Chao says he’ll see his secret, but that’s left for a future episode.
At the Barbary Coast Fight Pit, Ah Sahm beats down another challenger and then taps Vega for information. As a typical writing device, the Fight Pit bookends this episode, which was directed by writer Jonathan Tropper. Given that this is Bruce Lee inspired, the fight choreography is a key element. This season opener brings the fight focus on Koji as the lead, but fails to deliver anything that inspiring. With so many martial arts based television series recently like Cobra Kai, Wu Assassins, Warrior Nun, the aforementioned Into the Badlands (although this was cancelled), and the upcoming reboot of Kung Fu, Warrior must really up their fight game if they want to stay ahead of the pack.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
The final scenes of the season opener feel more like an epilogue. It would’ve been more elegant to leave it with the bookend fights, and then the final teaser for the next episode. There’s a scene of Walter Buckley (Langley Kirkwood) picking up a prostitute that’s superfluous. It’s a nod to his depravity but his manipulations of the Mayor have already betrayed his villainy. Then in bed, Li Yong and Mai Ling discuss Ah Sahm with some gratuitous nudity. The episode ends with an explosion as Leary lights a cigar, igniting the possibilities of the next episode.

Little Black Dress
On April Fool's Day of 2020, I posted this Fanfiction onto the EOA Discord server under the gauze that it was a summary of an upcoming episode. We were all very anxious for any news about future episodes, and I was able to fool some people with this. I wrote this before “Crash Course” came out so all the “main plot things” that happened in this were just me guessing and making jokes about what could possibly happen. Originally I thought of just doing a little description, but pretty soon it turned into an entire plot summary. I just thought of all the things that would be cool to see in the show, as well as some things in my personal life, and wrote it all on April Fool's Day itself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Here's the introduction I did for it, straight from the server itself:] Hey guys I just found this full on plot summary of the Elena of Avalor episode that comes after Crash Course! So don't read this Unless you are ready to get spoiled big time!
Ready for spoilers? Okay, here we go! The episode is titled “Little Black Dress” Mini description is: “Elena and Naomi have to find a way to stop Elena’s new dress colour and power, Meanwhile Gabe, and Mateo try to stop Ash, with help from an unlikely ally.”
That description makes it sound really good but wait, I have the whole plot summary so here you go: [Synopsis under the cut]
It starts off at the castle, we see Elena, reading a book in her room. Naomi comes in and asks what book she is reading while also making the bed, since now Naomi's technically out of an official job so she's been trying a lot of stuff around the palace to see what job sticks. We even get a little montage of this. It turns out Elena is reading a book that Naomi recommended to her and is almost finished,  Naomi is happy to hear that, and decides to leave Elena in peace until she's finished reading.
But just as she's about to leave the room she hears Elena's scream and she runs back into the room to find that Elena's dress has turned black!  All of the light seems like it's being sucked out of the room while a feeling  of the deepest despair comes over them, but Naomi is able to make it across the room and sing a bit of love always to Elena, which gets her back to normal. Then Naomi asks Elena what happened, why did the dress change colour like that?
Elena takes a deep breath and explains to Naomi that the book ended on a cliffhanger, why had she not told her that this book ended on such a big cliffhanger! Naomi tells her that she'd read the book so long ago, she had sort of forgotten the weight of the cliffhanger at the end. Naomi tells her that she had once checked before if there was a sequel to this book, and there wasn't, but she's pretty sure that the author is planning one. Elena retains her composure, but you can tell she is still deeply disturbed. But it's time for the Grand Council meeting now, so she goes to the Grand Council room. Cut to the Grand council meeting, Doña Paloma and Julio are already there, arguing over kingdom finances, when Elena comes in and apologizes for being late. Her grandparents start to fill her in on what has been happening in the meeting when Doña interrupts them. She tells Elena how they've been arguing over whether to spend tax money on relief to chocolate farmers who are having trouble with a fungus that's been growing on the chocolate trees making them less productive. She believes the farmers should spend their own money on anti-fungus measures for the trees but Julio disagrees, so what does she think they should do?
But Elena's dress turns black,  almost all the light gets sucked out of the room and strong winds begin to blow, everyone gets under the table. Her grandparents are able to calm her down and ask her what happened. She explains about the new dress colour and that the mention of fungus reminded her of how that book ended with half the characters getting possessed by an evil mushroom that was bent on taking over the world, and not knowing would happen next was filling her with suspense and dread. Julio recommends that she go find the author of the book and ask them how it ends. Elena thinks that's a great idea and decides to do that with Naomi.
Just as she's leaving the grand Council room she bumps into Mateo and Gabe, they tell her that they have some important security matters they need to share with the Grand Council, so they can get the green light to go ahead with their defeating-evil plans. “Just do whatever you must!” She tells Mateo and Gabe before leaving with Naomi to go find the author. They take this to mean they can do ANYTHING they feel they need too.
We follow Gabe and Mateo down to the dungeon where they go to Carla’s cell. She's petting the dog and looking out the window when she hears them come in. She turns and is quite surprised to see them. They tell her that they are planning an important mission that will stop Ash, and her gang, but they need her help to pull it off. She tells them that she will only help them if they de-stone Victor. They agree that they will do that once the mission is completed, as long as she doesn't double-cross them. Carla says they have a deal, and asks them what the plan is.
Gabe explains to her that the guards have sightings of Ash’s gang on the coast of Avalor in a certain village, which means that there is only one place they could be going… “Los Diamante!” finished Carla. It was one of the most famous card game playing houses and music lounges in the entire Everealm. It was run by a gang of criminals and Malvagos led by El Destello. They are so powerful that during Shuriki’s rain they were still able to operate, because they could destroy any Royal Guards or other threats to the place.
It would be a disaster if Ash got them as allies, so Gabe and Mateo decided they would try to convince El Destello to join the good guy side (or at least not join Ash). But they knew they wouldn't last five minutes in that place without a criminal who could help guide them through it, and that's why they needed Carla.
Carla told them that  her father had told her all about this place before, and that the place had a strict dress code they would need to follow before they got there (“They don’t let Guards or nerds in there” she said). The dress code was formal suits and dresses. So they got changed and then rode some Jaquins to Los Diamante, and went inside.
The place was very ritzy, and it still had that Avaloran style architecture to it. There were guys playing Go Fish at the tables, people ordering drinks from the counter, and a big stage where an Avaloran-style jazz band is playing. Everyone had a Churro in their mouth. Mateo went to the drink counter and ordered an apple juice, but the guy behind the counter said they didn't have any, but they did have tomato juice, and chocolate milk. Mateo realized they were in the deep end now.
Suddenly Ash, Esteban, and Chatana walk in, all of them dressed up in super fancy outfits. Ash walked up to one of the burly looking criminals standing by the door and asked to see El Destello, so she could give him an offer he couldn't refuse.  He said that she would have to wait half an hour for him to finish with his  accountant upstairs before he could see anyone.
Carla, Gabe, and Mateo (who had hidden under a table when those three came in), heard all of this and knew they needed to come up with a plan to stop this.
Meanwhile, Elena and Naomi were in the middle of town looking through the town records, to see if they could find the author's name and address. One of the clerks at the building asked them what they were doing and they explained to her their situation. She said she knew where the author lived (whose name was Q.W. Southland)  and gave them her address, but told them that the author was planning on leaving Avalor for Norberg today, so they better hurry.
They both ran to the author's house, but they saw that they were too late, a carriage was already leaving the house with Southland inside! Elena refused to give up, so she and Naomi hopped into an empty cart, and attached a large sheet to it like a sail.  Elena mustered up her feelings and the strong winds blew,  blowing their cart towards the carriage.  The carriage sped up in reaction to this, and now they were in a full-on chase scene,  zooming through the streets of the city towards the port. Finally, the carriage stopped right before it fell into the water but Elena's cart fell into the water and she and Naomi had to swim back to shore. They were just in time to reach Southland before she got on the ship.
Elena begged to know the rest of the story, but Southland explained to her that she wasn't going to tell any of her readers anything about the next book until it was published, even if they were a princess. Elena would have to wait another eight months like everyone else.
Elena and Naomi were deeply saddened. Elena said that she wished there was at least something she could have to keep her occupied until the next book came out.  Naomi looks like she has a moment of inspiration, and tells Elena that she needs to get home and that she should go back to the palace and wait for her there. Elena is confused by this, but sees her friend’s enthusiasm and agrees.
Meanwhile in Los Diamante, El Destello had finally finished with his upstairs business and had come down to the lounge. Ash walked over to him and began to tell him about who she was and about her plans for the most powerful group of dark wizards ever. Suddenly Carla jumped out and interrupted her, she told El Destello that she heard he liked music (why else would you keep a music lounge open during Shiriki’s rain?) and that she was a great singer and dancer.
Carla said that she and her team (Mateo and Gabe) would challenge Ash and her team to a music contest, and that whoever lost wouldn't be able to get help from El Destello or his gang. El Destello thought that sounded like a great idea and agreed. Ash, still surprised by this turn of events, wasn't going to back down from a challenge and also agreed.
So the music contest began. Ash and Chatana sang a Peggy Lee-style song called  “Touch of a Feather'' with Esteban playing guitar to back them up. It's lyrics show that it's a really good villain song, referencing Ash’s ambition and Chatana’s yearning for a world she can control. It went off without a hitch, except for when Chatana did a spin and her wings knocked Ash, and Esteban off the stage at the end of it.
Carla sang a Nancy Sinatra-style song called “These Violet Times” with Mateo and Gabe singing backup (Gabe also had a trumpet solo at one point). The lyrics reflect Carla’s feelings about her past and hopes for her future (They also make some not-so-passive-aggressive jabs at Ash).
El Destello said both songs were good, but there was only one winner. He beckoned Ash and her team over to him. Ash smiled, said she was glad to have won, and asked if this meant that he would accept their deal of a partnership?
He told her no, she had not won. He just summoned them over to tell them that they had five minutes to leave before his gang would throw them out. Ash was shocked, Esteban then teleported them out of there before Ash had a chance to do something violent.
El Destello congratulated team Carla on the win. Mateo asked if this meant he would never colaberbate with Ash, and he said “Of course and that from now on whenever they came back to Los Diamante, drinks were on the house.”
Gabe and Mateo were happy that the mission had gone so successfully, and thanked Carla for her help. She asked if this meant that they would free Victor now, and they said yes. “What are we waiting for” yelled Carla as she grabbed them by the hands and dragged them out to the Jaquins, to get them back to the Palace as fast as they could.
Back at the Palace, Elena is sitting in her room tuning her guitar when Naomi walks in with a bundle of scrolls and papers in her hands. She tells Elena when she had finished that book a long time ago, she had been destroyed by the cliffhanger ending as well. So she had written a whole bunch of fanfiction about what could happen next. Then, with all the crazy stuff that's happened in the last few months she forgot about it. She said it's not as good as another book but at least they have it. Elena smiled and said that it's just as good as another book, but then she asked Naomi, “You did complete these right? They don't end on cliffhangers too, do they?”
“No,” Naomi said with a smile “I made sure of that.”
The episode ends with Gabe, Mateo and Carla in the palace garden. Mateo is holding a small vial which he then hands it to Carla, saying she should do the honour. She runs over to Victor and says:  “Finally you can be free, Papa!” She holds the potion above his head and pours it on him. And just as the potion touches his forehead- the credits cut in and you have to wait until next episode to see what happens next.
So that definitely sounds like an episode I would want to see, if only it were real… Happy April Fool's Day everyone!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[And now for a bit of a retrospective on that piece. Reading this again really takes me back. Back then I was so worried about Carla and Victor, sometimes I wondered if they'd even get a redemption arc at all. But as the moral of this episode goes “Fanfiction and other fans make you feel less bad about waiting for new content.” And writing this did make me feel a little bit better about everything.
Oh yes who can forget the “ what if black is an emotion colour” theory.  most people were taking that to really angsty places, but I decided to do something a little closer to home for me. There was a certain book series [Wings of Fire] that I had in mind writing the plot with Elena. Because I really did feel those emotions when it left off on a cliffhanger. And that was kind of the same with the show as well.
I always liked it and shows and movies where they have parodies of 1930s gangster movies, so I decided to do a kid-friendly parody version of that. I always love the fancy outfits the characters have in those. I realized that churros look like cigars from a distance, so that's why I mentioned that. I was also really hoping for another villain song, and for Carla to confront her mom. So I just fused the two together.
In my mind when I was writing this I imagined that Pili and Tziloco were in another section of Los Diamante, that was meant for Animal Companions, waiting for the rest of Team Ash to finish. And at one point they play some kind of card game against the Jaquins. But I didn't know where I could smoothly fit that into the summary, so I left it out.
Also I just want to explain the title, I decided on it because 1, Elena's dress turns black in this. And 2, a little black dress is a term that's often used for describing simple, yet fancy dresses that some women wear, and that would be fitting for the other plot of this story. So it's sort of a pun!]

Next day on a Saturday morning, Kimichi wakes up stretching and noticed Junis is not in the room. “H-Huh!?” She panicked and checks the entire house to see if he’s in any of the rooms in the house, but he wasn’t there. She ran to the kitchen and freaked out. “Mother!” “Oh good morning sweetheart” “Good Morning mother.” “Tell me what is wrong?” “Where is Yakamura kun!?” “Samuel Turner and Anstice Demetrius Galanos The First came here and took him 2 hours ago.” “Where did they take him!?” “To the arcade in Shenzhen.” “In another city!?” “Relax sweetheart, nothing bad isn’t going to happen, I trust Anstice and Samuel.” “I guess you’re right mother.” An hour later after Kimichi brushed her teeth, took a shower, dried up, blow dried her hair, she put on her white F Cup Bra, her white panties, her white socks, her white skirt, her white T-Shirt that says (Family Comes First), and her white Jean Jacket. Her Jean Jacket has five dead roses on the back of her jean jacket. First dead rose color on the top left of the jean jacket is Green. Second dead rose color on the top right of the jean jacket is Red. Third dead rose color on the lower left of the jean jacket is orange. Fourth dead rose color on the lower right of the jean jacket is Sky Blue. Lastly the Fifth dead rose color in the middle of the jean jacket is Crimson Red and Light Green. The doorbell started to ring. Kimichi rushed downstairs and opened the door. She sees Elena Sanchez and Sukina Akamine at the front door. “Hey um, we was going to the Shanghai Mall that’s located on Pearl Avenue.” Sukina said inviting her. “Do you want to like hang out with us?” Elena said. An hour later in Shanghai Mall, Sukina and Elena decided to chat with Kimichi for the first time. “By the way, what is your name?” “My name is Kimichi Mina Ishikawa, nice to meet the two of you, what are your names? “My name is Sukina Carina Akamine, nice to meet you too. “My name is Elena Lucia Sanchez, nice to meet you as well.” After the girls made introductions to each other, they shopped at the jewelry store, the clothing store, and the beauty store where it sells beauty products. They enjoyed their time at the Shanghai Mall shopping, chatting, opening up to each other. Meanwhile at the Arcade in Shenzhen China, Samuel, Anstice, and Junis walked in the arcade. Junis looked around and started to speak. “Uh guys.” “What is it?” “Where the hell am I?” “We are in this luxury arcade called Shenzhen Arcade.” “......” “Is this your first time here?” “Yes, and what is a Arcade?” “Are you dense!?” “Samuel don’t be rude.” “That’s not my fault!” “But I really don’t know anything about this placed...” “Man this little boy is really dumb.” “Hey!” “What!?” “Excuse us for a second dude.” “I’ll wait here.” Anstice pulled Samuel away from Junis and took him to the bathroom and punched him on the head as they started arguing quietly. “Ow what the hell is wrong with you!?” “You know why you idiot!” “Again, not my fault that he’s stupid!” Anstice punched him again as both of them continued arguing. “Stop punching me!” “You dumbass!” “How am I a dumbass!?” “You forgotten what Principal Akamine and Mrs. Ishikawa told us on the first day of school!?” (Flashback to the first day of school during lunch.) “It’s a shame that one of you don’t have memories during that accident in Minneapolis Minnesota. It’s really depressing, he’s the #1 Genius in the Country.” he can’t remember anything but his name.” (Flashback ended.) “So the boy she was talking about is him.” “Duh, who else she was talking about?” “Probably you.” “You are a idiot.” “Who are you calling a idiot!?” “You!” “Rude.” “Anyways, we have give him a tour around Shenzhen Arcade.” “Why do i have to help!?” “Uh, you bringing us to the arcade was your idea.” “Ugh, but it will take all day to explain everything about the arcade to him!” “You got to be joking right?” “No!” “Look here lazy boy, it’s just giving him a tour.” Few hours later after giving Junis a tour outside and inside of the Shenzhen Arcade, Explaining the rules about the arcade, Do’s and Don’t do, what’s not allowed in the arcade, Shenzhen Arcade is allowed is opened 24 hours a day, Weekends only, no smoking, no drinking, no gambling, no drugs, no weapons, no gang members, no pets, and no fighting. “Do you understand everything i just told you now?” Yes, I understand everything about this place.” “That’s excellent, any more questions before we start having fun?” “Yes, there is one more thing i want to ask you mister.” “Ask away dude.” “Who are you?” “Who am I?” “My name is Anstice Demetrius Galanos The First, nice to meet you.” “Hey idiot.” “Quit calling me a idiot.” “Can you just introduce yourself to him!?” “Okay, Okay, Jeez.” “Who are you?” “My name is Samuel Elijah Turner, nice to meet you.” “What is your name anyway dude?” “My name?” “Yes.” “My name is Junis Yei Sung Yakamura, nice to meet you two as well. After Junis, Anstice, and Samuel gave introductions to each other, Junis went to the game room and started playing the first game in the arcade machine, it is called Furious Fighter. He played Furious Fighter for a few hours, he was having fun playing his first video game. As he was playing furious fighter, Anstice noticed Samuel was in the car. “What the hell are you doing Samuel?” “Huh?” “You heard me the first time.” “Ain’t the sky is pretty?” “Just answer the damn question!” “I’m leaving you and Junis here.” “Don’t you dare!” “You heard me the first time, so you can’t stop me.” “If you leave us here, I will call Kimichi!” “That really sounds like not my problem dude.” “I’m warning you.” “later, hahaha!” “Oh you ignorant moron!” Junis stopped playing Furious Fighter and looked at Anstice and starts talking to him. “What happened Anstice?” “You want to know what happened?” “Yes.” “The blonde hair idiot left us here!” “Wait what?” “He left us here?” “You want to know how?” “Yes.” “He took my car and left!” “How are we suppose to get home?” “I’ll call Kimichi, just continue playing Furious Fighter.” “I trust you Anstice.” As Junis went back to the game room to continue playing Furious Fighter, Anstice calls Kimichi from the house phone and Kimichi Answered it. “Ishikawa Residence.” “Kimichi we have bad news” “Is Junis hurt!?” “No.” “What is the bad news?” “Samuel took my car and left me and Junis here at the Shenzhen arcade!” “He did what!?” “He went outside, got in my car, and drove off!” “Don’t worry about that, i will get your car back and teach Samuel a painful lesson.” “Thank you so much.” “Bye.” “Bye.” Few hours later, Kimichi arrived at Shenzhen Arcade and walks inside seeing Anstice and Junis by themselves. “Where the hell is that idiot?” As Anstice was about to speak until Samuel arrived in Anstice car and he walks inside. Anstice went outside and sees his car really dirty and busted up. “No!” “Not my baby!” “Not my fucking car!” Anstice went back inside and argued with Samuel for a few minutes. “What the hell did you do to my car!?” “You making a big deal over nothing.” “Samuel stop.” “It’s not my fault, it’s just a car.” “Just a car!?” “Here we go.” “I spent 1 million dollar on that beauty!” “More like piece of crap.” “That’s enough Samuel.” “Stay out of it Junis, this have nothing to do with you.” “What?” Kimichi was angry and walked to Samuel. “You jackass, don’t ever talk to Yakamura Kun like that! Samuel smirked and says, “Oh please I’m not afraid of you.” “Anstice take Yakamura Kun to the men’s bathroom.” Anstice took Junis to the men’s bathroom and stayed in there. Kimichi grabbed Samuel arms and starts twisting his arms. Samuel starts screaming. “OW, OW, OW, OW, OW,!” “LET GO OF MY ARMS!” “Not until you apologize to Anstice and Junis for ditching them!” “Like hell I’m doing that!” “Oh really?” “You heard me!” “I’ll tell your father and you will lose your reputation.” “You wouldn’t dare!” “Try me.” “OKAY, OKAY, OKAY!” “Say it!” “I’M SORRY, I’M SORRY, I’M SORRY FOR DITCHING YOU TWO!” After Samuel apologized to Junis and Anstice, Kimichi let go of Samuel’s arms. “Also you are going pay for the damages.” “No way!” “Do i have to break your arm?” No, No, No, No!” “That’s what I thought.” “Good.” “I’ll drive you home.” “Fine.” Anstice drove Samuel home and Samuel paid for the damages. Kimichi stayed with Junis as he played Furious Fighter for a long while, she watched him and staying by his side. After five passed, It was 9pm, Mrs. Ishikawa picked up Kimichi and Junis from the Shenzhen Arcade and took them home. After she took both of them home, Kimichi and her mother enjoyed dinner except Junis, he was spacing out, he wasn’t himself. Kimichi looked at Junis and asked him, “What’s wrong Yakamura Kun?” “Huh?” “You are spacing out, is there something wrong with you?” Junis didn’t say anything for 2 minutes, but he says, “It’s nothing.” “Aren’t you going to eat dinner with us?” “I’m not hungry, I’m sorry Ishikawa San and Mrs. Ishikawa, I’m going to bed.” Junis went to bed early not feeling like himself. Kimichi was worried about Junis and talked to her mother. “Mother we need to talk.” “Sure, What do you want to talk about?” “About Yakamura Kun, he don’t have memories of his family, why he can’t remember?” “The answer to that is he got into a car accident a year ago.” “Tell me more.” “When he delivered presents for his family, he went to the library in Minneapolis Minnesota and dropped off the last present to the librarian.” “What else happened?” “When he left the library, the purple car was losing control because the brakes came out of the car when the driver was driving too fast, coming down hill. “Is there more to this flashback?” “Yes, there’s more but i will tell you tomorrow, unless you want to hear more for almost a half an hour.” I do, i really do.” “Very well, pay attention, it will be sad and devastating.” Kimichi nodded as her mother continues. “When Mr. Yakamura was crossing the street he saw a Orange Truck and a Purple car coming his way and it was too late for him to avoid the two vehicles, he was unconscious in the huge crash, fifty-two people died in the incident, five people was injured.” “.......” “The paramedics took Mr. Yakamura and the five injured people to the hospital” “.......no...it can’t be...” “five injured people died, they couldn’t make it” “.......no...that’s really horrible......” “Mr. Yakamura was dying, there was one doctor that saved Mr. Yakamura life, performing a impossible surgery, but it was risky, meaning the surgery will be complete but Mr. Yakamura will lose his memories.” “....is there another way she could have complete the surgery without losing his memories?” “No, It was either complete the surgery or he dies.” “I see why he can’t remember his family.” “Do you understand what i told you?” “Yes, mother.” “I’m glad you do, goodnight sweetheart. “Goodnight Mother.” 25 minutes later, Kimichi went to bed and sleeps with Junis. she says in her mind {Don’t you worry Yakamura Kun, I will do my best to get your memories back, no matter what.}

Back At Dom's HQ, Mia Shows Some Blueprints Of The Police Station She Got From Police HQ, But Unfortunately It Doesn't Say What Type Of Safe They're Using So, They Decide To Run A Stealth Mission To Find Out, Using Roman To Get Their Eyes In There...
With Tej Getting An RC Car With A Camera On It Out Of The Box That Roman Gave To The Police Officer That Kicked Him Out...
Seeing The Safe, Tej Knows Immediately That This One Is Going To Be Hard To Crack...
youtube
Then Leo And Rico Go In And Place An Explosive In The Toilet Pipes, EW! So, They Can Go In And Drill Into The Wall So They Can Set Up Connections To The Cameras At Police HQ To Their Laptop...
The Cameras Apparently Have Marker Optics With 100 Degree Field Of View That Oscilates Every 10 Seconds Which Means They're Going To Need Really Fast Cars To Do This...
With Everyone Building A Track, Dom And Brian Go Out To Grab Some Cars By Checking Out The Street Racing Scene By Talking To A Racer Who Thinks That Dom's Car Is A Worthy Trophy For Anyone To Have In His Garage Which Leads Him To Challenge Dom For Pink Slips And That's The Last Mistake That S.O.B. Will Ever Make...
With Brian Running The Car On The Track, The Camera's They Have Set Up Unfortunately Spots Him, So, They Decide To Get Different Cars With Different Drivers...
But All Of Them Are Seen!
Of Course They're Seen! No Car Can Truly Be Invisible Unless That Car Is Being Driven By James Bond!
Anyway, Han Gets A Copy Of The Exact Same Safe That Is In Police Headquarters Which Tej Is Going To Work On Cracking However, They're Forgetting About One Thing, The Handprint Scanner, Yep They're Going To Need Reyes Handprint In Order To Get This To Work, So, They Use Giselle And Han To Get It...
While Monitoring Reyes, Han Asks Giselle About Her Military History While She Bring Up How He Used To Be A Smoker...
Yeah, Guys This Is Great And All But Now's Not A Good Time To Be Playing The Dating Game, You Guys Should Be Monitoring Rey.....es.....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Returning With The Print, Tej Only Has One Question....

With Han Asking Dom To Move Up Their Timeline, Dom Has An Idea Where They're All Confronted By Hobbs At A Street Race Where He Attempts To Arrest Them...
youtube
(Start At 0:14, End At 2:01)
With Hobbs Walking Off, Dom Gains A Win As Tej Plants A Tracker On Their Van....
With Neves Going Home For The Night, She Finds Dom In Her House Just To Get Letty's Necklace Back
Yeah, I Agree With Mrs. Hemsworth Here, Why Bother Coming Back For A Lousy Necklace?
It's Worth It? No Offense But That's BULL! Nothing Is Worth Getting Arrested Not Even Getting Back A Necklace That Belonged To Someone You Lost!
Telling Dom That He Should Run Because Hobbs Will Eventually Find Him However She's More Interested On Why He Stays When He Should Run Which Leads Him To Ask Her The Same Question Which Leads Neves To Talk About Her Dead Husband...
Realizing Dom Didn't Kill The Men On The Train, She Asks If Letty Was Special To Him? Which Leads Him To Say That He Never Thought That Anyone Could Understand How Much...
Back At Dom's HQ, Everyone Continues Testing Cars That Just Keep On Failing Because (As Han Points Out) The Window Of Time Is Just Too Small And The Only Way They'll Ever Do It Is If Their Cars Are Invisible Which Is (As I Pointed Out Earlier) Impossible...
However, Dom Says He Knows Just Where To Get The Cars...
All Right, I'll Bite, Where, Dom?
They Drive To Police Headquarters To Swipe A Few Police Cars...
Tumblr media
So, With Dom, Brian, Roman And Han In Police Cars They Decide To Do A Small Race With The Winner Getting An Extra Million...
With Roman In The Lead, Dom Eventually Takes Over That Lead With The Race Being Anyone's Game But It's Brian That Wins The Race, However It's Implied By Roman And Han That Dom Let Him Win...
The Next Morning, Mia Goes To The Market Only To Be Grabbed By Vince Who Says That Reyes Men Are Tracking Her...
Telling Brian And Dom About This, All Is Forgiven And Vince Becomes A Member Of The Team Again...
Preparing Dinner, The Other Members Talk About What They're Going To Do With Their Share Of Reyes Money, And They Also Find Out About Mia's Pregnancy...
Ok, Tej That Joke Was Good Enough For Giselle But Don't Push It On Mia...
Which Leads Dom To Make A Toast...
The Next Day, The Plan Is Set To Go Underway, With Everyone Taking Off Except For Dom, Brian, Mia And Vince Who Will Join Them In A Few However, Hobbs And His Team Arrive At Their HQ To Try To Arrest Them Which Leads To A Fight Between Hobbs And Dom...
And How Do I Describe This Scene? Well, Imagine If The Confrontation From Les Miserables Was A Fist Fight...
Sparring Hobb's Life, He Arrests Dom, Brian, Mia And Vince...
youtube
(Watch Whole Video)
While Saving Hobbs And Neves, Vince Gets Badly Injured And Dies From His Wounds Making Him The Eponine Of This Movie, But Before He Does He Tells Dom That He Named His Son After Him...
With The Mission Still On, Everyone Thinks It's A Bad Idea And That The Best Option Is Running As It's Now A Suicide Mission And That They Tripled Their Detail At The Police Station But One Way Or Another, Dom Has No Intention Of Letting Reyes Get Away With This.
With Hobbs Siding By Dom, Because He Wants Revenge For The Death Of His Men Everyone Follows After That As They Ask What The Plan Is...
With The Cars Arriving At The Police Station, They Decide To Use The Element Of Surprise To Ram Their Way In...
With Hobbs And Neves Dealing With The Guards, Dom And Brian Grab The Safe Using Tow Cables To Pull It Right Out Of The Wall..
With Police Following Them, It's A Chase Through The City With The Safe Bouncing All Over The Place, I'm Surprised No One's Getting Flattened Like Wile E Coyote...
But I Will Say That They Do Do Some Interesting Driving Techniques While Hauling The Safe Like Using It To Crash 2 Police Cars, Dragging It Down An Alley With One Car Going Forward And The Other Driving Backwards
But Just As They're Surrounded By Cops Who Are Shooting At Them, Roman And Han Come To The Rescue In The Cop Cars They Stole...
With Them Reaching A Bridge, They Have Too Many Cops Behind Them, Dom Decides To Cut Brian Loose Stating That He's Going To Be A Father And That He Needs To Think About Mia And The Baby...
With Dom Pulling The Safe With All Of His Nos He Manages To Hit Car By Car With The Safe, Ejecting Out Of The Car When The Safe Hits One Of Reyes' Cars So That His Car Can Hit The Car With Reyes Inside.,.
But Surprisingly They're Still Alive, That Is Until Brian Shoots Reyes Main Man And Hobbs Kills Reyes...
Saying That They Can't Take The Safe With Them, Hobbs Is Willing To Let Them Have 24 Hours Before Their Car And Mouse Chase Continues...
Oh, Wait I Think I Know What Happens Next...
Hobbs Realizes That Dom's A Good Man, Which Forces Him To Question His Ideals To The Point Of Suicide, Right?
Tumblr media
Well, There Are So Many Les Mis-isms In This Movie That I Wouldn't Be Surprised...
No, Hobbs Sadly Does Not Die (Otherwise How Would We Have A Spinoff In Theaters Now) No, Instead Turns Out The Safe Is Empty And They Have The Cash...
Tumblr media
Well, Turns Out That When They Had A 10 Second Window They Had Giselle, Leo And Rico Switch The Safe With The Money With The Empty Safe They Had...
And So, With The Money In They're Hands (Once Tej Opens The Safe) They All Go Their Separate Ways, With Dom Giving Vince's Wife, Rosa A Cut Of The Money Along With A Note Saying See You Soon, Uncle Dom..
As For Everyone, Leo And Rico Play It Up In Monaco Where We Never See Them Again, Tej Opens Up A Legitimate Garage Buisness With Him And Roman Hanging Out Every Once In A While, Han Didn't Get Just The Money But Giselle As Well...
Eat Your Heart Out, Steve Trevor!
Yep, They're Dating And They're Headed Off To Berlin Until We See Them In The Next Movie But As For Dom, Brian And Mia They're Somewhere On A Beach (And Don't Ask Where Because Even I Don't Know) All I Can Say Is That Mia Is Glowing With Her Pregnancy, Dom Is Dating Neves To Which He Should Watch Out For Falling Thunder Gods With Hammers That Shoot Lightning And Brian Wants Another Shot At Beating Dom...
I Would Say This Ends Our Film But We Get A Mid Credit Scene Where Monica Fuentes (Played Again By Eva Mendes) Drops By Hobbs Office In Washington, As A Team Of Drivers Hijacked A Military Convoy But Hobbs Isn't Interested Unless It's Dom But With Fuentes Saying To Look Deeper, Hobbs Makes A Discovery...
youtube
(Start At 1:00, End At 1:04)
And That's Fast Five And It's Okay...
While Not As Good As The Last Film, This One Has It's Moments The Story While Boring At The Beginning Catches Up Around The Middle Of It, The Characters Except For The Bad Guy Are Good, The Cars Weren't Very Impressive But At This Point They Were Changing Their Status Quo From Being A Series Of Street Racing Films To A Series Of Heist Films, Sort Of Like Oceans 11 With Cars But Still, It's A Film Worth A Watch And I Say See It...
Till Next Time, This Is Duke, Signing Off...

Cyclocross Season
Tumblr media
What started as a foray into a new ramvan weekend activity, quickly turned into a full blown obsession. I have many fond memories of traveling with Cody all over the Northeast during his bike racing days. One of the best parts is the new places it takes you. It has been so fun stepping back into that world and turning these races into family adventures, ramvan style.
Cape Cross
Tumblr media
Our first race was Cape Cross. Our friends from Aquidneck Cyclocross told us about it, and Huxley could not have been more excited. The kids, who had no idea what they were getting into, did a full lap of the adult course, and it was intimidating!
Tumblr media
Willa, who loves riding her bike but hates competition, got to the race convinced she didn’t want to participate. With some encouragement from her friend Elena, she decided to give it a try. She went way out of her comfort zone and took a wrong turn, but still finished (a huge accomplishment for her) and got third place in the 7-9 age group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Huxley, who we pretended was 7, had been training and looking forward to his first race for weeks. He had a pretty bad crash at the very beginning and almost gave up. But he got up, got his bike fixed, and joined back in for the older kids’ second lap. He flew through the course, bombed up every hill, sprinted across the finish, and wished he could do it all again. He didn’t get a podium spot but didn’t even pout about it (a huge accomplishment for him!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the best parts of the day was watching the kids ride all around and cheer the other racers on. They get to have a certain degree of freedom that doesn’t exist when you’re riding on roads.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ramvan did great for its trial run bike race trip - for both hauling bikes, and more importantly a pizza party in the back to watch the end of the races.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KMC Crossfest
KMC Crossfest was at a racetrack in Thompson, CT. One of the cool things that differentiates cyclocross from other forms of bike racing is how varied the courses are. You have no idea if the racers are going to be riding through sand, on grass, on a racetrack, running with their bikes up stairs, or a little of everything.
Tumblr media
This race had a small designated kids course. It was pretty low stakes and more of a fun for all, everyone gets a medal kind of thing. They did a few laps, and then split into teams and did relay races.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a beautiful day, and we stayed for the rest of it to watch all the races. This time we were a little more prepared. We parked the ramvan right along the course, and cooked some hot dogs on the butane stove in the back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Biking is one area of life where Huxley takes the lead and Willa is happy to follow. It’s cool to watch the role reversal and see how their relationship stretches and changes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boss Cross
The whole AQCX crew was at Boss Cross. Niklas and Hanalei were old enough for the junior race. Willa, Elena, Pia, and Huxley all did the kids race, which was on a separate kids’ course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This would turn out to be Willa’s last race. She was doing great until she wiped out in the mud right before the finish. She was pretty upset, but she got herself back up and walked across the finish line as people cheered.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hux was super psyched about the kids’ course having a real barrier and loved every minute. He even ended up on his first real podium.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, they had all the kids come up to get their pictures taken on the podium. Willa was still upset about her crash, until the hilarious announcer encouraged them to dance. That got everyone smiling.

Two of the Aquidneck Cyclocross dad’s also raced in the men’s race. Not sure if the kids had more fun in their race, or sprinting around the course cheering them on!
Tumblr media
Grand Prix of Gloucester
The Gloucester race was one we had been talking about all season. Cody did this race when we were 18 and it’s the first cyclocross race I had ever seen. It was a big race and we knew there was a decent kids course, plus the setting was pretty unbeatable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a beautiful day with a big crowd. The whole AQCX gang was there. Willa deemed herself the team photographer, a perfect role for her.
Tumblr media
There was a much bigger field for the kids’ race than at any other race. They didn’t do a podium, and all the kids got medals, but Hux crossed the finish line first in his age group, which was a big point of pride for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were food trucks and a beer tent at this race, but we came prepared. Not pictured are the stromboli’s we cooked in the back of the ramvan for lunch, along with the cooler of beer from Newport Craft.
Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross
Tumblr media
This race really lived up to its name. It was another big race on another beautiful fall day with the whole gang.
Tumblr media
Hux decided to try the 9-14 junior race for the first time. They did a couple laps of the full course, and he hung right in there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a professional photographer at this race, who got some amazing shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was also a kids’ race that wound around a bouncy house, with a podium ceremony at the end. This race really was ideal for people of all ages!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aquidneck Cyclocross had paid for a tent spot, so we had a great set up for the ramvan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was probably my favorite race. The course was set up in a way that the kids could ride all around and have all sorts of independence without getting lost or getting in anyone’s way. As is usually the case at these races, everyone there was supportive of kids riding bikes. Even though Willa didn’t race, she rode her bike miles with her friends and had a blast.

Secret Squirrel
We had been hearing about the fabled Secret Squirrel race all season from our friends who had done it last year - about how challenging and muddy the course had been, and about the Donut Madison. It lived up to all the hype and more. But first, we had to make squirrel cookies.
Tumblr media
There was no designated kids’ course - Hux raced in the 9-14 category. There was a decent sized pack, and they did two laps of the adult course. The course was mostly in the woods with two super steel hills, and it was freezing!
Tumblr media
There was a part of the course that went so steep uphill in the woods that even most of the adults had to get off their bikes. Hux was wearing sneakers without much traction and he kept slipping back down the hill. It would have been comical if not for the fact that he was losing it. He was so frustrated, and finally a guy standing at the top directed him to try a different side of the hill where there was a tree root he could use for grip. Huxley begged him for help. To his credit, he didn’t ever physically help - I’m sure this wouldn’t have mattered in a kids’ race, but it showed he was taking it seriously. He kept cheering, and by this time everyone else in the crowd was cheering too, including two of our friends who had made the drive to watch.
vimeo
He finally made it. By the time he came down the other side, his face was full of tears and he was ready to quit. We all knew he had another lap, which meant he would have to face the hill again. After lots of encouraging cheering and a pep talk from Cody when he crashed again a little later, he kept going. His second lap was great, and he made it up the hill without a hitch. As he crossed the finish line, the announcer noticed how much smaller he was than everyone else, and was shocked to hear he was only six. She then announced it on the microphone, which effectively cancelled out any other negative feelings from the day.
Tumblr media
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Huxley from watching him race, it’s his ability to turn a frustrating situation into a story of valor by the time the day is done. Gradually, a crash that was actually devastating to him at the time becomes a superhero story of courage when he relays it to others. This part of him always makes me smile.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Willa spent most of the afternoon bombing down a hill on the other side of the course over and over.
vimeo
They both made friends at this race. Willa met a girl her age who also had a brother Huxley’s age. Her ability to make friends anywhere awes me. The two girls were disappointed to learn they both lived an hour away from the race in opposite directions, and would likely not run into each other again. But that didn’t stop them from having fun for the day.
Tumblr media
The last race of the day at Secret Squirrel is the Donut Madison. You find a partner, eat a donut, do a lap of the course, and then pass off to your partner to do the same. There was a guy who needed a partner and we convinced Cody to do it. He had to borrow a helmet and bike and ride in his work boots and jeans. It was a hilarious and gross way to end the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NBX Grand Prix of Cross
Cody took Huxley alone to the first day of NBX GP to do the 9-14 race. It was another hard course with sand and a full flight of stairs to run up. There was a professional photographer who got these great shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day was the kids’ race. It was pouring and cold so only a few kids came out. Willa rode her bike, but didn’t do the race.
Tumblr media
The announcer came over to commentate the kids’ race and he was hilarious. “Huxley Harple - with a name like that, they ought to name a library after you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some friends braved the weather to watch this race too and got one of my favorite pictures of Huxley ever - it captures him so perfectly.
Tumblr media
Ice Weasels Cometh
Ice Weasels was another legendary race. It’s always one of the last of the season, usually in the beginning of December, so almost guaranteed to be cold. This one was held at Medfield State Hospital, an abandoned mental hospital, which gave it an even more mystical vibe.
Tumblr media
This was one of Huxley’s best races. He did the 9-14 race, and for the first time he actually beat a couple kids. It was a freezing but beautiful day. The kids did two full laps of the adult course. It was the perfect course for him - other than the barriers up to his thighs, it was mostly grass and hills, just like our yard course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hux is starting to see the same group of 8/9 year old boys at most races, and they are finally becoming friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most fun parts of this race is the absolute silliness. People wear crazy costumes, and at the last race of the day they stop to chug beers or take shots being passed to them. Willa totally embraced the vibe with her Wonder Woman onesie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What a fun way to end the 2018 cyclocross season! Next year we will be back better than ever, this time with a bike rack for the ramvan.

The Hunt Master List
Chapter 1
No. No, no, no, this could not be happening. One of the secrets Y/N had fought so hard to keep hidden was now out in the open. Why? Why would they come here and tell her friends, the people who have become like her family her biggest secret?
Caroline looked at Sam and Dean and then at Y/N. “They’re your brothers?” she asked. “Why didn’t you tell us? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Y/N looked at Caroline with an apologetic look, “I’m sorry, Care. I thought it best that you didn’t know,” Y/N replied. “I wanted someone other than Y/N Winchester, I wanted to start over and be…me.”
“Y/N, don’t worry, we understand why you didn’t tell us, dear,” Elijah added, squeezing Y/N’s shoulder lightly.
Y/N couldn’t think straight. She kept trying to convince herself that this wasn’t happening, that it was all just a dream. She heard Elijah’s words, but she didn’t quite believe him. Why would they understand? She’d lied to them about who she really was for a year. “I. I need to get out of here,” she said quietly before pushing past Sam and Dean, the latter of the two tried to stop her but she pulled her arm away before running to her car.
“Where’s she going?” Sam asked the one he knew was called Caroline.
“I. I don’t know,” Caroline replied. God, she hoped that Y/N didn’t think she or anyone else was angry with her for not telling them about Sam and Dean because they weren’t. Well, she knew she wasn’t, she understood why Y/N didn’t want them to know.
Damon watched Y/N get in her car and pull out of the driveway before driving off down the road. “I think I know where she’s going,” he said as he pulled on his leather jacket and grabbed the keys to his Camaro.
“Damon, are you sure she’ll listen to you?” Stefan asked. “The two of you aren’t exactly the best of friends.”
“I have to try, Stef. Just let me do this okay?” Damon said to his brother and the others.
“I’m coming with you,” Dean added as Damon moved past him.
“No, you’re not. You should leave and go back to your motel,” Damon replied as he stopped in his tracks and turned to face Dean. “No one follow me. I need to talk to her alone,” he added. His brows were furrowed and his jaw was clenched, he was angry, upset. He turned on his heels again and walked to his car.
Once he was strapped in, he pulled out of the driveway and headed to the one place in town that he knew Y/N loved more than any other; the Falls.
Y/N had driven through the street of Mystic Falls and had taken a few shortcuts through the back roads to get to the Falls quicker. She loved this part of town, it was peaceful, it allowed her to sit and be alone and think.
She parked the car at the top where she could see the waterfall. She got out of the car and sat close to the edge of the cliff. Y/N closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the water gushing over the rocks into the blue water below and the birds and animals around her. The wind was blowing through her hair and she let out a shaky sigh.
Y/N sniffled and pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She buried her face in her arms and let the tears fall and the sobs escape her lips.
Damon knew exactly which part of the Falls she’d be at. He spotted her car and parked behind it. He could hear her crying from the car and it broke his heart to see her like this. He got out of the car and closed the door behind him. He knew that she was aware that he was there, “Y/N,” he said softly as he slowly moved closer to her.
Y/N heard a car pull up but she opted to ignore it. She hoped that whoever it was would read her mood and leave her alone. She heard Damon’s voice and curled into herself a little more. Why was he here? Why was he the one to come? They’d never gotten along. “Go away, Damon,” she whispered. If he wasn’t a vampire he wouldn’t have heard her. “I’m not in the mood for one of your little jokes or comments right now.”
Chapter 2
“I’m not going anywhere, Y/N. I’m not going to leave you while you’re so upset,” Damon told her. He moved closer and sat down beside her, he looked out at the waterfall and let out a sigh. “I know we haven’t been the best of friends since you arrived in town and I know I’ve been an ass to you, but I do care about you. You’re my friend, Y/N and friends care about friends and they don’t leave them when they’re upset.”
She lifted her head from her arms and roughly wiped the tears from her cheeks with the back of her hands. “I thought you hated me. I thought you just tolerated me because of my friendship with Stefan.”
Damon’s mouth curved into a half smile at her words, “I never hated you, Y/N, ever. I guess I act the way I do with you because I’m not used to someone biting back at my jokes or comments,” he joked.
“Well, no one else would do it. So, I thought I’d step up to the plate,” Y/N joked making Damon chuckle a little. “I always loved it here, ever since I arrived in town,’ she started. “It’s always just so peaceful here. It almost feels like nothing can hurt you like there are no supernatural creatures that want to hurt anyone. Like there isn’t a killer loose in town right now. You probably already know this since you found me so easily, but I find myself coming here whenever I need to think or be alone.”
Damon listened to her every word with rapt attention. He looked at her the whole time. “It is a nice place to just come and be alone and think,” he agreed. “I used to do the same thing back in 1864 when I wanted to get away from my father,” he told her. “He was an abusive man, no matter what I did I just couldn’t get on his good side.”
“I’m sorry your father was an asshole. You didn’t deserve that. No one does,” she told him. Y/N moved her hand and patted his shoulder. Damon had never told her about his past, she didn’t know why he was telling her right now, but she was happy he felt comfortable enough to do that.
“I’m sorry your brothers showed up in town and told us your secret that you clearly didn’t want to be revealed,” Damon replied as he patted her hand that was on his shoulder. “You want me to kick their asses?”
Y/N chuckled at Damon’s offer to kick her brother's asses, but she shook her head no. “Nah, it’s okay. If it comes to it, I’ll kick their myself,” she joked. She suddenly started feeling a little bit cold and she mentally cursed herself for not grabbing her jacket before she rushed off. So, she rubbed her arms in the hopes of warming herself up a little. “Do you think they’ll leave?”
“I doubt it. They seemed pretty adamant to stay,” Damon replied in a regretful manner. He noticed her rubbing her arms and he shrugged off his leather jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. It’s not like he really needed it, he didn’t get cold since he was a vampire. He just wore the jacket because he liked it. “I don’t think they’ll leave for a while.”
Y/N was a little shocked when Damon wrapped his jacket around her shoulders, but she smiled at him gratefully as she put her arms through the sleeves. She let out a sigh as she listened to him say that he doubted her brothers and Castiel would be leaving any time soon. “Lucky me, huh?” she joked.
“Do you not get on with them?” Damon asked. “There must’ve been a reason you left them and came to Mystic Falls.” “It’s not that I didn’t get along with them, I did. I do,” she started. “It was just…the life. I hated it. I was raised to be a hunter and I hated it my entire life, but I stuck with it because it was the only thing I knew and I just couldn’t bring myself to leave my family,” Y/N explained. “Then I woke up a year ago and…something changed. I just couldn’t do it anymore. I needed to leave. Sam and Dean were out on a hunt and  Castiel was out doing something and I saw my opportunity. So, I packed my things, took my credit cards and any cash I had in my room and then I  got in my car and I left.”
Damon listened to her, his attention never once leaving her. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. “It was your decision to leave, Y/N and they should respect that,” he told her.
Y/N froze up a little when he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. He often put his arm around her, but never this gently and he certainly never hugged her. However, despite that, she was grateful for the support and comfort he was giving her right now. “Thank you, Damon. I appreciate you being here for me.”
“Anytime,” Damon replied softly as he rubbed her arm.
Y/N was about to say something when she felt her phone go off in the pocket of her jeans. She furrowed her brows and unlocked her phone to look at the message. You need to get back to the Boarding House. Now. It was from Caroline and it seemed urgent. “Damon, we need to get back to your house, now.”
Chapter 3
Meanwhile, back at the Boarding House, Sam, Dean, and Castiel had refused to leave until Y/N got back. Of course, it was mainly Dean who refused to leave. They were eventually invited into the house by Stefan much to the dismay of the others.
“Stefan, what the hell were you thinking inviting them in?” Tyler. He, Matt, Stefan, Jeremy, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, Enzo, Alaric, and Liz were sat on the couches.
“You’ve done some stupid things, mate, but this takes the cake,” Enzo added.
“I didn’t really have a choice,” Stefan told them. “They obviously weren’t going to leave, maybe Y/N’s the only one who can convince them to go.”
“Well, I’ve messaged Y/N. She and Damon are on their way back,” Caroline informed the group. They were all keeping their voices low so the three men wouldn’t hear.
Sam looked at Dean and Castiel as they stood in the archway of the living room. They knew they weren’t truly welcome here, but they weren’t ready to leave yet. “You think she’ll listen to us? We have to tell her this.”
“I’m not sure,” Castiel answered. “You saw how upset she was when she left. There could be a chance that she could just tell us to leave.”
“I’m not leaving without talking to her,” Dean added. “There’s got to be something she isn’t telling us. There has to be another reason why she left. I’m not buying that she just wanted out of the life, there has to be something else, something that she’s not telling us.” He didn’t quite believe the story she was telling them, he didn’t believe that she just wanted out of the life.
In the garden of the Boarding House, the Original family was stood talking. Klaus had left Hope inside with Hayley and the others. There was something the family needed to discuss in private. They needed to talk about two of the men in that room. Freya had even done a spell to ensure that no one would hear them.
They had an interesting history with the Winchester family. One that they didn’t speak of. They had tried to forget about it and it had worked, until now.
“Are we sure that those two are part of the same family?“ Freya asked. “It could be a coincidence that they have the same last name.”
“No, it can’t be a coincidence,” Kol added. “They have to be part of the same family.”
Elijah was the next one to speak up. “We can’t jump to conclusions. Maybe they’re different. Maybe these two won’t follow in their father’s footsteps.”
“They’re hunters. They will try to kill us,” Rebekah inputted. “I know Y/N is a hunter too, but I know she wouldn’t hurt any of us, but those two in there and their friend? I don’t trust them.”
“Rebekah’s right,” Klaus started. “We don’t know these men and they might be Y/N’ s family, but I don’t trust them and I don’t like that they’re here,” he told them. “Anyway, we should get back inside before anyone comes out here.” He also wanted to get inside for another reason, he had information he felt like the others should know.
Y/N pulled into the driveway behind Damon and let out a frustrated sigh when she saw that the Impala was still parked on the other side of the curved driveway. She took a deep breath and got out of her car.
Damon noticed the Impala on the other side of the driveway and clenched his jaw and tightened his grip on the steering wheel. When he saw Y/N get out of her car, he got out of his and quickly walked up to her. Her eyes were fixed on the car and he snapped her out of what looked like a trance like state by gently placing his hands on her shoulders. “Are you sure you want to go back in there? I can just tell them that you weren’t feeling well and that you just wanted to go home,” he offered.
Y/N shook her head at Damon’s words, “No, no I’ll be okay. Caroline’s message sounded urgent.”
After that, the two of them walked up to the house and Damon pulled the door open for Y/N before they stepped inside and he then closed the door behind him. His jaw clenched again when he saw Sam, Dean, and Castiel stood in the archway of the living room. “My offer still stands for me to kick their asses,” he whispered in Y/N’s ear.
Caroline, along with the others, looked at the door when they heard it open. She saw Y/N and she sped over to her, not caring one bit that Sam, Dean, and Castiel were here. She pulled her friend into a tight hug. “Y/N, thank God. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Caroline. I promise,” Y/N replied as she hugged Caroline back.
Caroline pulled away and smiled at her friend, “We’ve been so worried,” she told the other woman as she put her hands on her shoulders. She noticed something off about what Y/N was wearing, she always was observant, “Is that Damon’s jacket?” Caroline could see something had changed between her two friends, she couldn’t quite pinpoint what that change was yet, but she’d figure it out. She could talk to Y/N about it later.
“Oh, uh, yeah, I got cold and Damon gave me his jacket,” Y/N replied as she shrugged off the jacket. “Thank you for lending it to me,” she told Damon as she handed him the jacket.
“You’re welcome. I couldn’t let you get cold,” Damon replied with a smile as he hung his jacket up. He looked at Caroline who was looking at him and Y/N with suspicion in her eyes. Leave it to the blonde vampire to notice the difference in his and Y/N’s relationship. “Alright, what was your text about? It seemed urgent,” he said to Caroline. He was just trying to get her mind off him and Y/N, it’s not like anything major had happened. They’d just talked, but he did feel closer to Y/N now.
Chapter 4
Y/N had almost forgotten about Caroline’s message until Damon mentioned it. She could see the suspicion in her friend's eyes and she knew that Caroline would want to talk to her later.
“Oh, right. Klaus and Marcel said they have information that they want to share with us,” Caroline replied. She definitely needed to talk Y/N later. She was going to make it her personal mission to find out what had happened between Y/N and Damon.
Y/N walked right past Sam, Dean, and Castiel, barely registering them. She could talk to them later if she could find it in herself. When she got to the couches, she was pulled into a hug by Elena and Bonnie, “Hey, I’m okay, guys.”
“We know, we were just worried about you,” Elena said as she pulled away and the three of them sat down. Caroline joined them a moment later.
“There’s a party at the Grill tonight, some of us were going to go, are you coming with us?” Bonnie offered.
“Sure, I’m up for that,” Y/N responded with a smile.
“Y/N,” Stefan started, sitting on the balls of his feet in front of her. “I’m sorry, I had to invite them in, they wouldn’t leave. I didn’t know what else to do. I thought that maybe you were the only one who could get them to go.”
“We told him it was a bad idea to invite them in, but you know Stefan,” Matt added.
“It’s fine, Stef, I understand,” Y/N said, giving the man in front of her a smile before he moved and sat on the couch. She then turned her attention to Sam, Dean, and Castiel who were all looking at her. “You can go now. If I feel like talking then I’ll call you.”
“We’re not going anywhere, Y/N,” Dean told her. “We need to talk about something as a family and we’re not going anywhere until we have that conversation.”
“Dean, we can speak about that later when she’s ready,” Sam inputted earning himself a smile from his little sister. “We think we can help you with this case. If it’s really a vampire killing all of these people then we can help,” he told the group.
“The way this is going, I say we could use all the help we could get,” Vincent commented. “If they say that they could help then maybe we should take their offer.”
“Y/N, I think this is a decision we should leave up to you,” Liz started. “Do you think they could help us like they say they can? And would you be willing to allow them to work with us?”
Y/N let out a shaky breath and looked around the room at her friends before looking at her brothers and the Angel that was basically family. “You really think you can help catch this person?” she asked them.
“We do. If you feel uncomfortable then we’ll work alone, but maybe it is best that we all put our heads together for this,” Castiel replied.
“Then we all work together to catch this vampire,” Y/N said. If she had to work with them to catch this killer then so be it. Sure, it would be a little awkward, but at the end of the day, she knew that the more people that could help them with this, the better.
“Okay, now that that’s out of the way, how about we carry on with this meeting,” Jeremy started. “Klaus, Marcel, you said you had some information that you wanted to share.”
Marcel was the one to take the floor first, “About five years ago in New Orleans, we had a killer roaming the streets, same M.O as the killer currently running around Mystic Falls and the surrounding towns. The bodies were hung up, their mouths were slit into smiles, and they were drained of blood. It can’t be a coincidence that the people who have died here died the exact same way as those in New Orleans.”
“I couldn’t find any connections between the victims here. They’re all different ages, genders, races, occupations, etcetera. Like he or she is picking their victims at random. Was it the same way in New Orleans?” Liz added to the conversation.
“It was the same way in New Orleans,” Marcel replied. “He just picked his victims at random. Like he just saw them on the street and grabbed them.”
“The New Orleans police never caught the man responsible,” Klaus started. “However, I recognized the way that the people had been killed as soon as I saw the first victim. I immediately knew who we were looking for, he was an old friend of mine. Unfortunately, he skipped town without a trace before we could ever apprehend him.”
“What are you saying, Klaus?” Y/N asked with furrowed brows. If he was going the way she thought he was with this, then they were looking at an old and very angry and sadistic vampire.
Klaus looked around the group and folded his arms over his chest, “I’m saying I know who the killer is.”

Long Lost Love: Pt. 2
Pairing: Kol x Kai x Reader
Warnings: Kidnapping
Word Count: 2498 aka a lot longer than part 1
PART ONE | PART THREE | PART FOUR
Today, there’s a free music festival going on in the lovely city of New Orleans. The weather is amazing and all you see is happy faces surrounding you. Freya joined you and Kol, then ended up heading back home after a couple of hours to help out Elijah. Klaus was miles away taking care of what he called ‘business’.
As you were dancing to the upbeat music with the rest of the crowd on the freshly cut grass, Kol left to buy the two of you a beer. Wine was never your thing.
Moments later, you were at a loss for breath from all the dancing, so you stepped aside from the crowd to quickly rest. Admiring the music and soaking up the sun felt just amazing, but that fun soon vanished because a hand covers your mouth and you quickly pass out.
Finally, you wake up sitting on a chair. But this time, you aren’t at the festival. You are in an unfamiliar place, an empty warehouse from the looks of it. The first thing you tried to do was stand up and stretch, but your hands were tied behind you with vervain ropes. It stung like a motherfucker. “What the hell?! What is this?” You said aloud to yourself.
You hear footsteps approaching you, so you turn to face whoever it is. “You’re awake! Great!” The stranger says. He was a tall, dark male wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt.
“Who are you? What am I doing here?” You wiggled your wrists, but the vervain only pierced your skin once again.
“You’re Klaus’s precious sister in law right?” He asked with a smirk on his face.
“Do you see a ring on my finger? No. At least not yet.” You spat.
“Who cares. I needed someone to get to him. And you were the easiest target. Poor Kol is probably wondering where you are.”
“Well Klaus isn’t in town. And even if he was, screw you.” You looked at him in disgust. There was no way you were going to rat out Klaus’s whereabouts. Especially to any enemy. No matter the consequences.
“Feisty one you are. Damn!” The man yelled in amusement and you scoffed at him. He sure was annoying.
“Since you won’t tell me where he is. Maybe this will help.” You furrowed your brows at his statement, then suddenly, his eyes turned yellow, revealing his fangs and didn’t hesitate to take his time sinking his teeth into your neck. The pain took over you, making you scream your lungs out. A werewolf bite is lethal to vampires and you thought to yourself how dead you are.
Finally, he stopped, but the dead weight of his body laid on you and the next thing you know, you see Kol above him, ripping his heart out of his back. Kol then threw his body off of you like a piece of trash.
“Oh my god, Kol. Thank goodness.” You sighed in relief. Your boyfriend sure is your savior.
“Hello darling.” Kol smiles as he’s wiping the blood on his hand to his shirt, then he quickly goes over to release your wrist from those damn ropes. He can handle the stinging of vervain way better than you can. “That’s a rather nasty bite you have there. Are you alright?” He added because he didn’t see it healing.
Tumblr media
“Yup. Werewolves.” You shook your head as your were watching your wrists heal.
Kol cups your cheeks with his palms to draw your attention to his face. “I’ll call Nik so that he can cure that godforsaken bite.” He plants a kiss on your forehead, then reaches in his pocket for his phone to call Klaus.
“I should’ve listened to Elijah when he said for me to keep viles of Klaus’s blood. Now look where I am.” Luckily for the Mikaelsons, a werewolf bite won’t ever kill them, you were the odd one out.
“Not to worry, darling. He’s only a town away, last I heard.” Kol put his phone to his ear, waiting for Klaus to answer.
“Douchebag.” You sneered, looking down at the man that kidnapped and bit you.
“There you are, baby girl!” You flinched from the loud voice that wasn’t Kol’s. You couldn’t believe who it is. It was no other than your ex boyfriend, Malachai Parker walking in. This has to be the side effect of the werewolf bite making you delusional. But no, you noticed that Kol sees him too. “Out of all places you could be. New Orleans? Really?” Kai added, tilting his head in confusion.
Tumblr media
You were speechless. Frozen. How is Kai he even here? The last time you saw him was years ago when Damon separated his head from his body. But you have to admit, he damn sure looks good.
“I’ll ring you later, brother.” Kol says to Klaus over the phone and hangs up. Kol looked confused as ever at the fact that you didn’t deny knowing Kai and you just stood there not saying a word.
“And who the bloody hell are you?!” Kol asks angrily.
“I’m her lover, duh. Cool accent by the way.” Kai jokes, then approaches you to look at your bite but Kol stops him by pushing his hand on his chest.
“Pardon?” Kol narrowed his eyes at Kai.
“Hmm...Did I stutter? Yeah. I don’t think so.” Kai quickly grabs Kol’s hand and siphons his magic. Kol tries to fight it, but he failed as he was weakening to the floor.
“Stop! That’s enough!” You vampire sped up to your boyfriend and your ex boyfriend, putting yourself in between the two. “First of all, how are you even here?” You asked Kai.
“Long story, babe. But please tell me who is this vampire that is that’s getting all worked up. You got a body guard now?”
“Kai, this is my-” You paused. “-boyfriend, Kol. He’s an original.”
“Yeah originally annoying. But ouch. I have to admit, that cuts deep.” Kai fake pouted on the outside, but on the inside, he was pretty hurt that you moved on while he was stuck loving you all these years. “And don’t tell me he’s the one that turned you. That was supposed to be my job.”
“Yes. But it’s been years, Kai. Years.” You over exaggerated the word 'years’ because it’s really been that long. “I’ve moved on. Not to mention, you killed Jo. You killed all of those people. If you ran off with me instead we wouldn’t even be in this position.”
“This is enough. It’s no time to reminisce, love. Leave him be.” Kol looked at you while grabbing your waist, then looked at Kai. “Leave her be.”
“At least let me siphon her nasty bite.” Kai implied.
“She-WE don’t need your assistance. My brother’s blood will happily do the trick.” Kol glared, pulling you closer to him. Jealousy definitely took over him that he had to be stubborn.
“Kol, it’s alright. Let him help me.” You insisted.
Kol took a deep breath, scowling at Kai. “Fine. But make it quick.”
As Kai is siphoning your bite, he whispers in your ear. “This is what you really want?”
You looked back and forth between Kai & Kol. The old memories with Kai flooded your thoughts, but you fought it, replacing it with memories of Kol instead. “Yes Kai. This is.” You said while making eye contact with Kol. You knew that he was listening. And finally, that werewolf bite was all gone.
“Alrighty then.” Kai turned you around so that he’s hugging you from behind, then cloaks the both of you.
“Let go of me! Let go of me now, Kai!” You instantly try to free yourself from his grip but he was too strong, especially with the help of him siphoning some of your magic as well while he’s holding onto you.
“Y/N! Y/N!” Kol cries out for you. He looked around 360 degrees and couldn’t see you or hear you, but you were right in front of his eyes.
“Don’t worry, babe. Your little boyfriend can’t see you. Boo hoo.” Kai’s voice started to fade as you were passing out from his constant siphoning.
(1 Hour Later...)
Waking up feels like deja vu. Only this time, it was your ex kidnapping you for your affection, not some stranger looking to kill you. Instead of waking up in that warehouse this time, you were on a bed in what looks like a hotel room. Kai was sitting on the edge of the other bed waiting for you to wake up.
“So....How was your nap?” Kai asked smiling.
You instantly vampire sped up to him, grabbing him by the collar. “Kai what the hell is going on?” You were so enraged that your eyes turned red and veins started forming under your eyes.
“Aw, someone’s groggy from their nap.” Kai joked, but you weren’t laughing.
“This isn’t a fucking joke. You kidnapped me! My supposed-to-be-dead ex boyfriend kidnapped me!” You shouted, tightening your hold on his collar.
“Okay okay. First of all, you can let go of me now.” Kai uses his strength and grabs your arms, pushing you so that you’re sitting across from him on the bed, then he started walking back and forth from the nightstand to the TV. “And secondly, I just missed ya, puddin. I thought maybe we can hang without that Mikaelson pest that you’re grossly screwing.”
Tumblr media
“And how do you know that I wont try to escape?” You straightened yourself sitting on the bed, crossing your arms in front of you.
“Trust me, sweetie. You won’t. Because if you do, i’d happily put your boy toy in a sleeping spell how I did Elena.”
“You wouldn’t.” You exhaled through your nostrils, giving Kai a death stare.
“Oh I would. And good luck asking Bonnie for the spell because last I heard, her and the Mikaelsons aren’t exactly buddy buddy. Unless, she and rest of your gang know about you being with Kol Mikaelson.”
Kai was right. Bonnie and the rest of your friends would like Kol dead just as much as Kai. Not to mention, the part where they have no idea that Kol is even alive. There’s no need to get them involved in this funny business at all.
"Okay, so basically you kidnapped me in hopes I’ll fall in love with you again? Yeah Kai, that makes perfect sense.” The sarcasm in your voice was hard to miss. The word ‘love’ triggered Kai. He stopped his pacing and sat next to you on the edge of the bed.
“You know I’ll never in my life hurt you. A day, all I need is a day. Maybe two to make up for lost time. And if you still want to be with that pathetic vamp, then I’ll let you go.” Kai frowned.
“Okay fine. Deal.” You agreed. “At least let me tell Kol that I’m safe. I know he must be worried.”
(Meanwhile…)
“We need to find her!” Kol commanded to Freya, breaking his bourbon glass he had in his hand. His voice was so loud that you can probably hear it all around the compound.
Tumblr media
Freya had her witchy knick knacks laid out on the table including a map and your hair brush to try and locate you. “Just calm down. I’m trying. But he must be using a cloaking spell on her because it’s like she doesn’t exist.” Freya made known.
“What’s going on? What’s with this shouting, Kol?” Rebekah rushed into the room.
“Y/N’s past lover took her and vanished because she chose me.” Kol said as he was pacing back and forth.
“What? Who?” Rebekah asked.
“Some wanker named Kai. What I heard, he was dead and now he’s alive.” Kol turned his attention back to Freya. “Please Freya, I must find her.” There was desperation in Kol’s eyes as if he was afraid. Either he was afraid to lose you to Kai or he was afraid that Kai will hurt you.
“Do you think he’ll hurt her?” Freya started to feel worried at how upset her brother is.
“How should I bloody know?” Kol started losing his patience.
“Trust me, he won’t. That boy loves her.” Rebekah implied.
Tumblr media
At one point you’ve told only Rebekah all about your relationship with Kai because she was always there whenever you needed an ear. There was no way you were going to vent to Kol about him. She’s also confident in her answer because from personal experience, no matter what goes down between Marcel and the Mikaelsons, Marcel would never lay a hand on Rebekah because he loves her.
Kol’s phone starts to ring in his pocket, so he quickly took it out in hopes that it’s you calling. Lucky for him, it is you that’s calling, Kol’s eyes lit up and he answered it immediately. “Y/N. Where are you? Are you safe? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. I’m safe. I don’t know exactly where I am but don’t come looking for me.” You informed Kol.
“What? Are you mad? What has he done to you?”
“He needs me for two days and if I try to leave or if you come for me within that time span, he’s going to put you under a spell that even Freya can’t reverse. Kai won’t hurt me. I promise.”
“So the two of you expect me to just do nothing and wait for you to come home then?” The thought of you spending time with Kai made Kol sick to his stomach. You’re his and only his. He doesn’t want anyone else getting in the way of that.
“Pretty much.”
Kol snapped. “That’s rubbish! You tell that bastard I’ll tear him limb from limb if he dares to lay a finger on you.”
“Kol, I love-” Kai takes the phone from your hand and breaks it in half. Tossing it behind him on the middle of the bed.
“Wow. He sure is violent.” Kai felt no guilt disrupting your phone call.
“You’re so annoying.” You scoffed, grabbing the nearest pillow, smacking Kai in the chest with it. This is the man you have to put up with for the next 48 hours. You felt terrible for how worried Kol is going to be, you’re just hoping that he doesn’t lash out and go on a killing spree or something.
“Yup. But remember, you loved me at one point and I’m hoping to bring that spark back you know.” Kai smirked.
“Yeah yeah yeah.” You rolled your eyes. Yes, you did love Kai at one point and part of you will always have love for him, but you have Kol and he’s just an outstanding lover and friend. From listening to your gossip to telling you how much he loves you before bed and even making you coffee every morning.
“Alright come on. Go freshen up.” Kai patted your thigh as he lunged off of the bed. “We’re going out.”

Damon Salvatore is a RAPIST and SERIAL KILLER who has always ENJOYED being a RAPIST and SERIAL KILLER. I will never say Stefan is innocent, but he never truly revelled in his dark side. He was always ashamed of his actions and always trying to be better - he was fighting an addiction. Damon never hurt people compulsively, he hurt them IMpulsively - not because he felt he physically needed to (like Stefan) but because he wanted to, because he enjoyed it. Why do you think he never actually apologised to Caroline for raping, abusing, demeaning and manipulating her - essentially holding her hostage - for months? Because he wasn't sorry. Because he enjoyed it, and if his entire life didn't now revolve around his obsession with Elena, he would do it again. He has never wanted to be a better person for himself. He couldn't even bring himself to do it for his brother. The only time he ever worried about the consequences of his actions was when he was concerned about keeping his real estate between Elena's legs. Not that he needed to worry about consequences, because in this show everyone forgives Damon for everything he's ever done for no logical reason. His rape victim forgives him because he was friends with her mother, as if that makes any sense whatsoever. I know this is a subject I get worked up over, but it's because when I first started watching The Vampire Diaries I was fourteen years old. There are girls watching it now who are younger than that. Pop culture has a massive influence on youths, and TVD sends a very clear message with its treatment of Damon Salvatore. They treat him like your neighbourhood bad boy instead of the rapist, murderer and emotional abuser he is. They show young girls and boys that either what Damon did to Caroline, Andy and many others isn't rape (it is) or that it doesn't matter if it was. They tell you that you should keep toxic people in your life and sacrifice your happiness for them over and over again because one day, maybe, possibly, they might be slightly better. They tell you that falling for your boyfriend's brother/your brother's murderer/your friend's rapist/your previous tormentor is epic, passionate, intense, romantic. They tell you that a man can rape you, physically and emotionally hurt you, ignore you, treat you like dirt - but one day he will marry you to his brother and it won't be weird. One day you will champion his love life and you will physically comfort him and it will be a nice, tender moment, and he still won't ask for your forgiveness. He will never apologise. He didn't do anything wrong. Every single thing Damon has ever done would have been absolutely dandy if they a) redeemed him at some point. like actually redeemed him. like he actually felt remorse and made amends that weren't just pouring someone a drink and drinking away the bad blood with no apology or b) kept him as a legit antagonist and made him pay. There are so many ways they could have done this without making him a black and white villain, but he should have never been 100% part of the Mystic Falls gang after deeply harming every single one of them in multiple and varied ways. There are a million interesting things they could have done with Damon's character but they took the lazy route, having everyone forgive him for all the things he will never truly be sorry for. They gave Damon a happy ending with the girl he loved/ was obsessed with. There is no hell now. He has never and will never be held accountable for all the horrible things he's done over the years. Meanwhile, Stefan, who doesn't go a day in his life without feeling immense shame and remorse for his sins gets a trap wedding with a girl he has lukewarm feelings for and sacrifices himself so that Damon can live out a human life with Stefan's epic love. The fact that this show is targeted at impressionable teenagers really worries me. You can see its effects in the Damon stans and Delena shippers who won't hear a word against him. It's the same fear I have about the Fifty Shades franchise - that we're teaching young people that stalking, manipulation and abuse are excusable if it's "passionate", and more importantly, if the perpetrator is conventionally "hot". We're teaching young people to stick it out with their abusers in case they hurt their feelings by sticking up for themselves, and in case a tiger really can change his stripes. It's disgusting and irresponsible, and it goes far past the point of me being an old school Stelena shipper. The framing of Damon Salvatore has influence and real-world consequences. We need writers who understand their responsibility to show young people what healthy relationships look like - or show people walking away from unhealthy ones, even if it's hard. We need bad boys with character development and fleshed out redemption arcs. We don't need any more Damon Savatores.
