How do you feel about Byleth "marrying" the goddess in their head/soul? Even if whatever power she gave them had left, she apparently still remained at least.
Tumblr media
My opinion on this should be as obvious as it is irrelevant. I can voice my concerns to Byleth as much as I’d like, but it’s ultimately their decision. I can hardly dictate who they can and cannot marry, my reservations aside.
Reservations that I have explained to them, of course. But the decision had already been made by then. So long as they are happy and being respected as an individual, I have no urgent contention.
...It would be preferrable for Byleth to swear their lives to someone I could properly scold or threaten.

Here’s a peek at chapter 3 of the Arranged Marriage AU (rough draft):
“Byleth, allow me to introduce you to Cichol and Cethleann. They are like you and me.” The young woman — Byleth — turns her unsettlingly luminescent gaze toward them. Assessing.
“Who— who is this person, Rhea?” Seteth demands.
Rhea nods to Byleth, who dips her head and sweeps her fingers through her hair, parting it, tucking it—
And revealing a pointed ear. Longer than any Seteth had seen…at least, not since…
“Rhea…” he says, mouth dry. “What have you done?”
Rhea steps forward with a canary-eating smile. “Rejoice, for you are in the presence of the goddess reborn.”

~MY BELOVED PROFESSOR~
Tumblr media
[MY BELOVED PROFESSOR] New Chapter is up! Read it on AO3 (HERE) or Fanfiction.net (HERE) Fire Emblem Three Houses fanfic involving Dimitri x Byleth  ~ Story Summary:  Byleth was never one for emotions; even in the heat of battle her heart is still and her face is stoic like a mask. So, no one could fault Dimitri for his uncertainty when Byleth is offered a position as a professor. But, once he sees her smile, Dimitri’s fate is sealed. Fate that would lead him to one day call the Ashen Demon, his beloved. (Spoilers! Currently on Ashen Wolves DLC - More Papa Jeralt and Sassy Sothis too!)

Like, I'm not saying that Seteth gave me a priest kink.
But before Seteth, I never understood the appeal of a man, who has vowed to devote himself wholeheartedly to religion, being brought to his knees before someone in a way that thoroughly destroys the very foundations of his being and living, thus pushing him past the point of no return the moment he submits himself to his desires. The idea of giving up your pure connection to the immortal, all-knowing, and all-encompassing. All for something as mortal, ephemeral and fragile as another person.
Of course, as a Seteth x Byleth shipper, I have to admit it's far more complicated than that because Byleth is the vessel of the Goddess Sothis, making her both God and Not. To fall for Byleth in the case of Seteth, is to fall for his creator, thus sullying and worshipping God at the same time. Placing them on the pedestal for worship, and tainting both the temple of his body and God's divine vessel with corporeal and carnal desire.

mortal kombat x fe3h?
Tumblr media
these are definitely some questionable placements, but this is what role i feel like these characters would suit if they were in fe3h! i also did my best to try and balance them out a bit in terms of numbers
black eagles are ambitious and have strong moral compasses, with ashrah, mileena, rain, and bi-han all being characters with goals and strong convictions. as to who would be the edelgard of these four, i have no idea, but the closest i could say would be bi-han (which would be ironic, considering the association BE has with fire)
blue lions are more noble and righteous, with a hefty dose of trauma somewhere in there. everyone in this list is on the more collected and calm side, but can show terrifying vengeance and anger if driven to it, especially raiden and kitana. geras would be a bit more of a mercedes, while scorpion could perfectly suit the dimitri role (and thus, make the bi-han kuai liang rivalry even worse, which is perfect!)
golden deer are full of lighter-hearted characters, but everyone knows when to get serious, especially tanya who's the clear outlier of these four. everyone here is clever in some way or form, especially johnny. i would say the claude of this group would be either smoke or kung lao, as both can make jokes but also think up of plans on the down low. also being the neutral party between the brothers would extra suck
ashen wolves are outcasts and those that have been driven to the shadows for numerous reasons. everyone here is either radicalized such as havik and nitara or shunned by an outside group like baraka and reptile, making them the perfect group of wolves. would definitely say reptile is probably the (unlikely) leader of this group, as he shares a lot of similarities with yuri and is a kind soul at heart
church of seiros is essentially just the outworld entourage. as the church of seiros in fe3h is full of a wide variety of characters, there's a pretty colorful cast here as well. li mei would make a great seteth to sindel's rhea role as the archbishop, and shang tsung would be a formidable tomas or jeritza, as part of well, the real enemy along with shao and reiko
kenshi being byleth is definitely the weirdest pick here but hear me out. dude with a magic sword who gets blessings from spirits? along with a darker backstory of working for a neutral/bad party? that sounds an awful lot like a byleth to me. kenshi losing his sight could be part of the story and him getting it back with sento with the help of liu kang could be his awakening
liu kang being sothis is pretty self-explanatory i feel. i almost made geras sothis bc time associations, but liu kang doesn't really fit anywhere else, and he WAS a keeper of time, so i mean... either way, him being close with kenshi would be pretty canon too
some extra notes (with fe3h spoilers; exercise caution):
- ashrah is more of a representative of petra, being an outsider compared to the other three characters, and as someone whose ambition is more self-centered - while bi-han wouldn't be noob saibot, he would probably have some of his traits as part of his trauma on being experimented on by shang tsung. this would estrang him from kuai liang entirely and wipe his memory of being his brother - speaking of brotherhood, the dagger that's so important to the dimi-edel storyline would definitely be the ice dagger that bi-han attacks kuai liang with in mk1. i would say it stays frozen forever and is held by magic in order to not to be noticeable as ice and give away the whole story - raiden was definitely not put into blue lions because of his thunder magic i swear he wasn't nope ahahhaahaha just a funny coincidence - kung lao and lorenz are awfully similar in demeanor which is rather hilarious. tanya would also make a great lysithea, being the serious one that isn't taken very seriously - while reptile would be a great yuri, baraka and havik are both more akin to balthus in form while nitara is closer to hapi. also would love the idea of reptile triple-crossing his three house members in cindered shadows - reiko would 100% be aelfric, being the simp he is for shao. alternatively, he'd also be cyril in that sense, even tho sindel is rhea - fuck gender-locked classes, li mei would 100% be a wyvern lord - scanning amiibo and seeing the double byleths could actually just show two liu kangs, one from when hes not keeper of time and one from when he is canon classes? (assuming no gender locked bc fuck gender locked classes IM STILL MAD ABOUT THIS. that and ignoring final classes for the house leaders + byleth):
ashrah - swordmaster
mileena - assassin
rain - dark flier
bi-han - war monk
kitana - falcon knight
raiden - mortal savant
kuai liang - assassin
geras - gremory
johnny cage - grappler
kung lao - sniper
smoke - bow knight
tanya - holy knight
baraka - grappler
reptile - hero
havik - wyvern lord
nitara - valkyrie
li mei - wyvern lord
sindel - well technically she only has her personal class so uhhhh
shang tsung - also has his own personal class
shao - dark knight
reiko - grappler
kenshi - has his own personal class, but otherwise would be a swordmaster
liu kang - non-playable (we were ROBBED)
okay imma stop yabbering bc im gonna just keep on going for too long

Just on the topic that Sothis might magically reconstitute herself and do a bunch of Goddess stuff, including overthrowing Edelgard like her detractors seem to think she will, Fire Emblem Heroes gives some context on what is actually happening with Byleth, courtesy of Seteth.
Fallen Rhea: I believed that if I could resurrect
my mother... I could regain all that had been lost...
Seteth: Your mother? Lady Rhea, you know
full well that such a thing is
forbidden, and yet...
[Alphonse asks what is happening, Seteth explains Rhea's deepest most secreted desire is to bring Sothis back to life.]
Seteth: Day by day, year by year, that desire must have grown, but...it would be the greatest affront of all.
For it was Sothis herself who forbade any and all attempts to return her to life.
Is this the consequence of Lady Rhea’s attempting to break that stricture?
If so, her words can mean only one thing...
1. Seteth says that it was Sothis herself that told the Nabateans not to bring her back to life.
This means she knows it's possible and DOES NOT want it to happen. (I personally have a theory that Sothis was attempting to tell Rhea to become the next "Goddess" to lead Fodlan onwards as their protector and guide when she speak to her in the Holy Tomb before she meets Wilhelm. This would make sense as Rhea says that the name Seiros was given to her in VW, which seems confusing at first until you remember that her birth name is likely "The Immaculate One" or "The White One," in the same way Sothis' is "The Beginning," and Byleth "The Enlightened One." Seiros being a name that references Sirius/The Blue Sea Star and Sothis herself, along with the entanglement of the Crest of Flames and Seiros being the first and last tarot card numbers to actually appear in Three Houses. But I digress.)
2. Not only were the Nabateans told not to bring Sothis back to life, Seteth readily assumes that Rhea is being PUNISHED for attempting to do so. Obviously he's wrong, but it paints a picture of the person Goddess Sothis was and just how taboo this act is.
3. We learn later in this event that Rhea's degeneration is caused by her despair at not being able to resurrect her mother, which obviously matches the in game reasoning. (It also heavily implies that this is THE only thing keeping Rhea from degeneration. She has no other purpose left, which I feel is why she is so so strangely distant, distracted, and unreachable throughout the game. Sothis even criticises her lack of observation that lead to Solon's presence in Garreg Mach. Detachment is clearly not a trait Goddess Sothis would have tolerated in her children. The Nabateans are often hinted at being warriors or at the very least militant by TWSitD and the Shadow Library records, combined with Seteth's intense nature, Rhea's reactions to opposition, Seiros' actions in battle, and the combat oriented nature of Crests. They're all obviously caring, but in the Greek Pantheon/Old Testament kind of way.)
All of this is to say that it's not Byleth or Sothis' heart that "breaks" at the end of Crimson Flower, it's Rhea's.
She's begging and demanding Byleth give her mother's heart back.
We know Sothis is still around. Her essence is in Byleth's soul ever since they merged.
Sothis also says the Crest Stone is nothing but a decoration in every ending of the game, the thing has been empty ever since that point. The only thing keeping it around was Rhea's magic.
There's some heavy implication there that even IF Rhea had been able to retrieve the Crest Stone from Byleth, there wouldn't be a Sothis within it to revive.
Sothis herself didn't just put herself into Byleth, she very likely, and intentionally, made it impossible to revive her from that point onwards.
Now, obviously Rhea can die in SS, but that's also the route where Byleth chooses divinity, that doesn't mean the Crest Stone is still actually doing something when Byleth absolutely should have the Major Crest of Seiros as Jeralt's child. It's literally the X factor Rhea claims to be the difference in Byleth compared to the other vessels. Byleth herself might be keeping the Stone whole, not intentionally, but subconsciously. The same way we all beat our hearts.
Just some thoughts. Rhea is the only one who wanted Sothis back, including Sothis herself. I mean Byleth also wants that, but they get what they want with soul merged Ghosthis.
Also, if Sothis didn't want Edelgard alive, why the hell would she help Byleth wake up? Or bring the rain in CF, or allow Byleth the ability to run through these cycles at all, which her opening dialogue of "It is almost time to begin" and "Drift through the flow of time to find the answers that you seek..."
Considering the Black Eagles is the only route where greater context and knowledge actually enables you to alter the outcome, these quotes show an awareness of that fact. Especially since AM requires the LEAST knowledge of grander events.
Sothis supporting Edelgard and not wanting to be revived is also supported by how "To the End of a Dream" serves as a reference to Rhea's dream to resurrect Sothis, Sothis' constant sleeping, AND Byleth being "The End/Ending" to Sothis' "Beginning."
Sothis canonically, endorses Edelgard through her opinions, actions, foreknowledge/hindsight, and the meta of the game.
It's no mistake that VW and CF titles make allusions to dawn, waking, change and spring, while SS and AM reference night, dreaming, conservation, and winter. The game and Sothis both have a preference.
(Sorry for the essay, I got carried away. I have a lot of thoughts on all four of these ladies.)
Not at all, that was a really interesting bit of analysis! I especially liked point 3 and the point on Sothis acting against Rhea in CF. I broadly knew most of the details from Heroes, but I didn't quite know all the specifics, so I appreciate you sharing them.

Bakarina fan been getting into Fire Emblem lately (Fanfic Idea?)
Fun fact: Did you know that Katarina's English Voice Actress, Jeannie Tirado, also voiced Female Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses? Apparently, Monkey Girl decided to reincarnate again and became an anime swordswoman! 🤣
 ...Wait a minute...
But yeah, I thought to myself “Why hasn’t anyone made a Bakarina x Fire Emblem fanfic yet?”
I mean, the settings are similar enough... I don’t think I could do it justice if I wrote it, but the idea is pretty cool!
I can see Katarina (now Byleth) accidently charming all three house leaders! Or maybe the entire academy... Oh dear...
I can also see her going through a lot of grief and stress too, given that this is her third life. She might even question why she keeps reincarnating.
Since Sothis is in Byleth’s head, the goddess has front-row seats to Bakarina’s crazy mindset! Honestly, the interaction between the two would be amazing!
Don’t know what she’ll be like as a teacher though... She’ll be a very quirky one, I know that much...
What do you think?

Sothis: *Divine pulse* Quick! We need to leave before- Arval: *Warps to Byleth's position* Silly, Sothie. You know that has no effect on me~ Shez: Ashen Demon! Why do I have the sense of deja vu? Byleth: I think the two of us are unwilling audiences to a love story between a Time Goddess & her Space God admirer.
Proof that being F! Byleth is suffering as she nevers get to spend time with her crush (M! Shez) as the only times he approach her is to challenge her and she is forced by a panicked Sothis to run away each time Shez (and thus Arval) is near....
Which leads to this to happen
Tumblr media
A fate worse than having a date with him while their two animal spirits watch them. Poor girl, she can't even get that since Arval would propably be so busy tormenting Sothis that it would be awkard in the worst way possible....

(belated)
I hear that the dopamine from sharing WIPs is good motivation. I’m pretty low on motivation this days, what with a new baby taking most of my energy and attention and trying to transition back into my day job taking the rest. But this fic is important to me, and I need to get it out of my system. So here’s a much-overdue update on Ch.2 of the Arranged Marriage Setleth AU to keep myself accountable!
Rhea tells no one but her most trusted cardinals of where she is going: She settles in Zanado, the only appropriate place. Zanado was where Sothis had arrived to Fódlan. It had been her home and her seat of power. Rhea leaves behind an official excuse, claiming the need to “purify herself”. This would be nothing new to them; she has done this before, when her duties have become too much and she needs respite. Of course, this absence would be longer. It pains her to leave behind the remains of her brethren so unguarded, but she has the ancient Zanadite technology, and the Tomb itself is locked to all but her touch. The Church is self-sufficient; it can afford to go without her for a year or so. She is not abandoning the Church or her people. This is for the greater good, for she is restoring the goddess to her rightful place.
