it’s a shame that tlou didn’t give us some scenes with cat/ellie/dina. like as ellie said herself in her journal, her relationship with cat was affecting her and dina’s one, as i can image she didn’t understand why dina was so distant and who knows maybe cat noticed her jealousy and teased it with an ellie as oblivious as ever. seeing a dina jealous of every catellie’s interaction would’ve been hilarious , maybe her and ellie had even an argument because ellie couldn’t understand dina’s “anger” . we could’ve had the best triangle ever in the story

TLOU headcanon I can't get out of my head.

⚠️Spoilers for characters introduced in the Last of Us Part 2.⚠

Jesse, Dina, Cat, and Ellie all are their own group. No one goes over to them to hang out because they think they're childish. They're never mean to them (mostly because Ellie beat the shit out of a kid who made misogynistic comments at Dina and Cat. Jesse also got in a few punches before the fight was broken up.) they just think the group is odd and choose not to hang out with them.

They only think they're childish because they play 'kid' games. (Hide and Seek, tag, Simon says, duck duck goose, hopscotch, the floor is lava. Etc.) And they started doing this after Ellie got confused and frustrated at not knowing what her friends were talking about when they would reminisce on childhood game memories.

They play super rough and extreme though. They've all ended up in the Infirmary. Jesse and Ellie are tied at how many times they've ended up there. Cat and Dina aren't far behind.

They all laugh about it and have fun so they don't see the harm in it. They laugh when any of their adults mention the Scrapes and cuts and bruises and sprains and dislocations and concussions and broken bones. Etc. Etc.

Because to them it's all fun.

All their adults have a more gray hairs by the time the whole group is over the age of eighteen. (They'd hoped after Jesse turned eighteen they'd stop. They kept that hope for another year when Dina and Cat turned Eighteen. They gave up before Ellie's eighteenth birthday.)

They're all just chaos children.

Ellie's relationship with Cat

Okay, so to start off, the relationship between these lovebirds has always seemed a bit 'rushed' to me. But maybe it was because they didn't give us more details on how long they've known each other, how long they've been friends for, or any details on how their sympathies for each other started. Ellie talked about Cat a little bit in her diary, but it was still not that much.

All we know is that when Cat was finishing another session on her tattoo, she climbed on top of Ellie and kissed her. Ellie freaked out and threw her off because she didn't know whether her 'infection' could transfer or not. She was worried about infecting her and so asked her for a walk, and then they walked and talked; Ellie lied to her, telling her that she feaked out because she has never kissed anyone, and then they ended up at Ellie's place watching a movie (they only watched the movie; stop being dirty!) and then after Cat fell asleep (I think it must have been in Ellie’s bed because her TV was in front of it - now I'm getting dirty), Ellie spent the whole night watching her, worrying about her turning. So based on this, I count on them not making out or having sex that day. Ellie wouldn't let it happen when she was unsure of the consequences.

The next day, though, when Ellie found out that Cat didn't turn, she got so happy that she couldn't transfer her 'infection'; her happiness was literally felt through the pages. Then, I think, the dating started. Ellie found out from Jesse that Cat was referring to her as her 'girlfriend' in front of her friends (which Ellie found cute). Then she was talking about some lake and how Cat would hold her hand and kiss her in front of everybody, including Dina, who has been (apparently) jealous, avoiding Ellie, and lying about being busy just so she wouldn't have to spend her time with Ellie and her new girlfriend. Ellie was trying her best to stay in contact with Dina too, but Cat and Dina never clicked.

(This only supports the theory of Dina liking Ellie right from the start, already being jealous of her in their younger years, even though she was with Jesse already.) I know that a lot of people think or say that Dina and Ellie happened suddenly and that they became a couple out of the blue. But Dina wasn't exactly someone she just met. I think Cat was more assertive and showed Ellie 'the way' so she snatched her up for herself even though they probably were less of friends than Ellie and Dina. I strongly believe that Ellie and Dina actually liked each other from the beginning, and there have been sparks all along that none of them had balls to act upon.

That's also why I think Ellie's getting together with Cat wasn't exactly act of love. Of course, Ellie liked her and cared about her. But from what we know, I don't think Ellie made herself believe that she was in love with Cat. I think she was always more mature about these things to know better. And it actually makes sense for Ellie to get into a random relationship just because she thinks she can't date the person she would like to date in the first place. I think she always knew she liked Dina more than she should, but she wouldn't speak up because—first, Dina was with Jesse—and second, she was scared of fucking their friendship. Who knows, maybe Dina being jealous of her and Cat made her heart skip a beat.

What we also know is that Ellie and Cat's relationship didn't last too long. I have no idea how long the girls have been together, but I'm guessing a few months. We never saw anything from the time Ellie was 18, so this could easily be a year full of discovering what it was with girls. Like, having her first time with a girl (I think she did have her first time with Cat because when she was about to sleep with Dina, she seemed to know what she was doing). Considering Cat's personality, I think she was probably the one to teach Ellie 'how'. Ellie has always been an adorable dork who probably needed a push here and there, especially in the beginnings of her sex life. (At least that's what I think.)

I also think that them ending their relationship must have had something to do with Dina (I dare to say it was Cat who ended it). Because I think that Cat knew all along that Ellie was already in love with Dina when she was with her. She must have noticed the way they've been looking at each other, etc. That's probably why their relationship ended on good terms, because not only did Cat always seem too cool to be a jealous pain in the ass, but she also must have felt from the start that Ellie was just 'experimenting', even though she (of course) liked her a lot too.

Note: In the original game, there was a playable winter dance scene that never made it into the game where you could go around and interact with Cat, who would indeed flirt with Ellie. I once heard that someone was even doing a mo-capture for those scenes, all excited about flirting with Ashley (Ellie's actress).

Your Eyes - Chapter 8: Fellings

Surprise washed over me when Ellie didn't bring up the fact that she had left me alone at the festival. Instead, she commented on how fun it had been and expressed her desire to plan more outings like that in the future. Her casual and relaxed tone made me question whether I should bring up the subject weighing on my mind, but I decided to let it go for now.

When she mentioned the dinosaur exhibition coming to town next month, my heart leaped with excitement. Dinosaurs had always been a passion of mine since childhood, and the idea of going to the exhibition with Ellie filled me with enthusiasm. The rest of the conversation delved deep into the world of dinosaurs, with Ellie and me sharing our excitement for these fascinating prehistoric creatures. We talked animatedly about the different types of dinosaurs, from peaceful herbivores to fearsome carnivores, exchanging trivia and interesting facts about their characteristics and behaviors.

I entered the kitchen with the pastries I had promised and found Dina brewing coffee, looking more awake now. I handed the pastries to her, which she thanked me for with a smile.

"So, how was the conversation?" she asked, her curiosity evident in her expression.

I took a deep breath before replying, trying to find the right words to describe the encounter with Ellie. "It was... good," I began, hesitant. "We talked about the dinosaur exhibition coming to town next month. It seems like we're going together." Dina nodded, encouraging me to continue. "We didn't touch on the subject of the festival," I added, feeling a lump forming in my throat. "But... it was nice spending time with her. It's always good to be around Ellie."

After a brief pause, Dina smiled gently at me. "Good to know you had a good time together," she said. I smiled back, despite the smile, I couldn't completely hide my disappointment. As much as I tried to focus on the positives of the encounter with Ellie, there was still a lingering feeling of uncertainty hovering over me.

"Dina, I just... I'm not sure what's going on," I admitted, letting out a frustrated sigh. "I really want to understand what's going on in her mind, but it seems like she's always keeping a certain distance, you know?"

Dina looked at me with compassion, her expression reflecting the understanding of someone who had been through similar situations. "I understand how you feel," she said gently. "Sometimes, people are complicated and hard to figure out. But the important thing is to remember that you're not alone in this. I'm here for you, no matter what happens."

As the days passed and the end of the semester approached, a sense of calm gradually settled over me. The reassuring conversations with Dina and the constant support from friends helped me find a sense of balance and confidence, even in the face of the uncertainties still lingering over my relationship with Ellie. The day of the meeting with Ellie had finally arrived, and I was determined to make it a special moment. After much deliberation, I opted for a light and delicate dress, with a print of small white flowers on a light green background. I paired the dress with a pair of white All Stars, adding a casual and comfortable touch to my look. A side bag completed the ensemble.

Ellie had texted me saying she was already downstairs, so I went down and there she was, radiant as ever, wearing khaki pants that accentuated her figure, a black top that highlighted her delicate contours, and a black button-up shirt over it, adding a touch of elegance to her relaxed look. A smile formed on my lips as I saw her, and all the anxiety I had felt earlier disappeared instantly.

She complimented me, the soft touch of her lips on my cheek sending a wave of warmth throughout my body as her hand intertwined comfortably with mine. I was surprised by the spontaneity of her gesture, but at the same time, I felt enveloped by a comforting sense of closeness and connection.

As we entered the museum, we were immediately enveloped by the grandeur of the dinosaur exhibition. Every meticulously crafted detail transported us to a prehistoric world, full of magnificent and fascinating creatures.

Our eyes lit up as we beheld the imposing skeletons, life-sized models, and meticulous reconstructions of the dinosaurs that once dominated the Earth millions of years ago. It was as if we were witnessing history unfold before our eyes, a glimpse of the past that left us in awe. We explored every corner of the exhibition, admiring each specimen and absorbing every detail with admiration and fascination. Ellie and I shared looks of wonder and smiles of pure admiration as we marveled at the incredible diversity and complexity of prehistoric life.

"Stay there, I'll take a picture of you," she pointed to one of the life-sized fossils. Laughing, I approached the life-sized fossil as Ellie set up her camera. I let my imagination soar as I tried out some funny and dramatic poses, making the most of the moment.

"That's it, you're killing it!" Ellie exclaimed, capturing every moment with her camera. I felt like I was traveling through time, posing alongside the ancient inhabitants of the Earth while Ellie documented each pose.

After a few photos next to the fossil, we decided to take some selfies together. We leaned in, our smiles lighting up the room as we hugged for the camera, as we moved into the picture, Ellie surprised me with a light peck on the lips. A shiver ran down my spine as we captured this spontaneous and affectionate gesture. I was surprised, but also warmed by this sign of affection and closeness between us.

After the exhibition, we went to a diner to grab something to eat, excited about our day. We started talking and looking at the photos we took, I smiled shyly when we got to the photo of us kissing, feeling my face heat up with the image. Ellie also seemed to notice my reaction, "I'm going to set it as my wallpaper."

"That would be bold," I said, trying to disguise my shyness with a bit of humor.

Ellie laughed and nodded, seeming to agree with my suggestion. "Why not? It would be a great reminder of our day," she replied, smiling sweetly.

Spending the days with Ellie during my university break brought a sense of tranquility and comfort. Our moments together were filled with laughter, deep conversations, and moments of pure relaxation. It was as if time slowed down when we were together, allowing us to fully enjoy each other's company.

We explored new places in the city, took leisurely walks in nature, and enjoyed relaxing at home, watching movies and series together. Each day brought a new adventure or discovery, and I felt grateful to have Ellie by my side during this well-deserved break from academic life. Spending a few weeks at home with my mom was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our days were filled with relaxing activities, such as morning walks, reading afternoons, and delicious home-cooked meals. It was comforting to be surrounded by the warm and familiar atmosphere of my home, away from the pressures and demands of life in the city. I kept in touch with Ellie during these days, chatting with her in my spare time and she told me how her day was going.

I was falling in love with Ellie. Her way captivated me, the way she made me feel. Every moment with her was a confirmation that I was on the right path, cultivating something true and meaningful. Her presence brought a sense of fulfillment to my life, and I found myself eager to share each new day with her. But I also had fears and doubts. Passion is uncertain ground, and I wondered if I was ready to open my heart completely. Vulnerability was scary, but at the same time, irresistible. Ellie was an enigma I wished to unravel, and each day with her was an emotional journey. I questioned if she felt the same, if our feelings were sincere or just a passing fancy.
