I think I'll just say this: I don't agree when people call any of the islanders "bad parents" just because their parenting is flawed.

Like, parents and their parenting is flawed. Inherently. One parent cannot meet all the demands of their child; it is literally impossible. As humans are imperfect, there will always be something missing or lacking in one's parenting. Hell, sometimes even two parents can't meet all their child's needs, depending on their personalities. If that's the case, then I guess all parents are bad parents. But that's not the case, so I don't get why people are so adamant when they see that a parent isn't handling things 100% perfectly and go "wow this person's parenting sucks."

And this is even more so when you take into account... pretty much everything going on in Quesadilla island. These people never really planned to be parents, yet here they are! And this island is out to kill these kids, so it's also a dangerous game of survival now, too! There are horrors around pretty much every corner. Plus, outside or inside forces are making the islanders suffer very often. The islanders are never okay. How they take care of their children is going to be different just by the very basis of their environment. The standards of parenting are different here. Their relationships with people, including their children, were never going to be 100% healthy or positive or okay. It's just not possible.

so, no, I don't think that just cause, say, q!Tubbo or q!Phil aren't great in regards to their emotional intelligence and often isolate themselves, or when any other parents in general don't handle what their children are going through perfectly, that they're bad parents. That kinda statement feels like it diminishes pretty much all the hard work and effort and love they put into taking care of their kids and even kids that aren't their own. Tubbo gives his everything for Sunny, and was/is an active babysitter for a lot of other eggs. Phil works so hard to love and teach survival to and take care of his two eggs equally. (Like, being 'basically' a single parent, of one or WORSE, two, is already hard enough in the real world - imagine being one on this fucking hellscape they're on).

Like, I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out the parents' flaws. Their flaws make them human, and it'd be foolish to disregard their humanity. And it's interesting to analyze their flaws and what they say about the character, and how they impact their family. There's nuance there, and it should be discussed.

But I think when you're just going "oh, they're bad at parenting in general" because they fumble the bag in other departments lacks nuance. Sure, if you're just saying "they're bad when it comes to certain aspects of parenting," that's a different story, because that's understanding their flaws while recognizing that those flaws don't define all of their parenting. But to just say they're bad at it in general isn't productive analysis of their characters in any way. I haven't watched q!Phil take care of his egg for a whole year (followed by a second egg more consistently shortly after) only for people to shit on his parenting just because his lack emotional intelligence is more noticeable as of recent due to all the trauma and bullshit he's endured. And I haven't seen q!Tubbo put his whole heart into taking care of Sunny as well as multiple other eggs, being Chayanne and Tallulah's reliable godfather, just for people to put down his efforts because he's not always great at more emotionally in depth conversations. They're good parents in a lot of ways, and those strengths shouldn't be discredited just because they aren't good at other things. Their characters deserve way better than that.

tldr these parents are all good in many regards and are just trying their damn best in the worst of circumstances, can we cut them just a bit of slack, please?

you end up having to like spam call him out of fear you might hurt yourself so he has the confirmation at least that he wasn't overthinking it

after that, he's a bit over the top with making sure you're okay and stuff but he genuinely cares and backs off if you need him too

he's wide open for hugs if you need them

he's not a perfect talker but he knows how to make you smile and he knows that he's built trust with you, and he'll spend hours just trying to get you to understand how much he loves you and that he'll always be here for you

he understands that you know he loves you, and you aren't gonna get better with that, but he knows deep down it helps you just a tiny bit to know that he cares and he'll spend an uncountable amount of hours telling you all that

he strikes me as a words of affirmation & quality time guy, so just enjoying your presence while you do things and loving you from far away is usual

you open up to him and explain the situation and why you've been struggling recently

he gives me quality time & acts of service vibes, so he'd definitely have everything in his hands for you when he could

like Tommy, he knows just telling you how much he cares about you isn't gonna heal you, but he'll spend hours doing so anyways

you guys can spend a few hours just never speaking and just soaking up each other's presence and stuff, to the point where it genuinely helps you a bit

tommy: junior in high school, ta to mr wastakens math class  - tommy signed up to TA for wilbur but then wilbur said “absolutely not” so he got put into dream’s introduction to stats class  - but he also has dream for the period after that for his ap stats class - so hes stuck there for like 2 and a half hours  - dream groaned when he saw who his TA was - makes tommy grade papers and stuff but never tests  - he doesnt trust him with that - tommy is a good kid and usually doesnt disrupt class but when he does its hilarious - expect mr blade doesnt give a second shit about tommy in his class  - tommy is rlly good at drama and math (even though hed never admit hes good at math)  - his locker is a mess  - besties with tubs and ranboo ofc - phil is his father dont tell anyone - he is so adamant on walking home bc he doesnt want people to know that his family works there - always has his red jacket on  - never gets school lunches says they are cursed

If you were going to write a happy ending for c!tommy what would it look like

You mean you want me to ramble about the ending I’ve made in my head that specifically caters to me? Because I will ramble about the ending that specifically caters to me

So. Wilbur still leaves* and Tommy spirals and becomes deadest on killing Dream. He believes that all of his problems will be solved once he’s is out of the picture. He gets Tubbo and they jump Dream, run over to Punz, he reverses it and they capture clingyduo. Same as canon. (But I would change some dialogue that really bothered me, like the revive book having mind control powers and of course the staged disc finale.)

Clingy duo escape at the sacrifice of Tommy’s discs I guess. They come up with the nuke plan but instead of blowing up the prison Tommy plans on leading them out to logstedshire to cause the least damage. (Since I still think it’s really stupid that changing the trajectory of the nuke just slightly to the left would destroy the whole server. As if just hitting the prison wouldn’t cause the same amount of damage??)

(Also while we’re here Jack wouldn’t be involved in any of this because I hc his issues got sorted out during the stream where he blew up the hotel. He was able to get his closure and move on, don’t ask me how justwaituntiligettohiminpaintedillusions cough cough) Anyways.

Tommy sorta hits his lowest. He prepares to die. He dons his full L’Manburg uniform for the occasion (because the idea of him always planning to be buried in his uniform makes me lose my mind) At this point he thinks he’s lost everything. He’s ready to go down with the ship. At least he thinks he is…

Tubbo says totems won’t save him but he offers Tommy one anyways because he hopes he’s wrong. And Tommy takes it because he hopes he’s wrong too.

Tommy sets off to get the grilled cheese duo and succeeds in leading them to logstedshire. How? Uhh maybe he snuck in the prison with invisibility and yoinked a book from them. Something drastic enough to scare them into chasing after him.

They make it to logstedshire and I won’t go too into it because I’m making an animatic to better explain all this but Tommy is determined to go down laughing and Dream takes some L’s.

Nuke hits, Logstedshire is destroyed Dream and punz are dead and Tommy is alive. Tommy is alive and that shakes him up a bit. I don’t think it fully hits him until the next day. But physically he’s okay minus the new glittery golden streak in his hair (it’s barely noticeable unless he’s in the sun which I think is funny. Gets a cool hairstreak and it’s not even that visible, how unfair!)

Then we get to the fun part! A slow and thorough journey of Tommy unpacking all the shit he went through. Because surprise! Killing Dream didn’t solve everything like he hoped it would. The happy ending is that Tommy is given the chance to work towards his happy ending, yknow?

I imagine that when he hit his lowest point, yknow preparing to die, that he doesn’t quite leave that point. He thinks he does because he’s running off the adrenaline of finally defeating Dream. But he doesn’t quite realize how unfair and dangerous it was for him to have to do that in the first place. And in time he starts to realize that with Tubbo’s help (and maybe other characters help too, maybe Wilbur hears about what happened and comes back, of course there’s Quackity too. All the people who care about Tommy come to support him but they’re too late. They’re too late and have to realize that. They weren’t there for Tommy when he needed them but they’re here now.)

Tldr: What would a happy ctommy ending look like if I wrote it? Dream dies, and Tommy sets off on the journey to unpack all his trauma and learn how to find his happiness with his small support system. (So basically what I’m doing with Painted Illusions sksjjdj)

Also to be clear this is just the little world/au that lives in my head. This isn’t what I wanted the real ending to be. I don’t think all these ideas are very feesible in the medium of streaming. So if you had asked me what I think should’ve been done differently with the finales I would have a different answer.

*I still dislike the fact that Wilbur left at all. I feel like his story would’ve been stronger if he had stayed and healed. But for the sake of this specific ending he’d have to leave for Tommy to go to spiral the way he does

Tubbo’s the first to burst out of the meeting room doors, drinking in the humid pre-rainshower air like he hasn’t breathed in hours.

 

Reporters and journalists crowd the square, their brouhaha of tittering and murmurs quickly exploding into shouts and flashing cameras as Tubbo gulps for air. Barrages of questions and interview requests fling themselves at the members of New L’manberg’s cabinet as they filter out of the building. Glancing back as he tries to weave through the surging crowd, Tubbo catches sight of a peeved looking Quackity pushing microphones out of his face, Ranboo hovering anxiously in the doorway, and Dream slipping away undetected as always. 

“President Tubbo!” A reporter insists, a stout man with a catfish face and a thin, wispy mustache to match, “Can you comment on the tripling size of the obsidian walls around New L’manberg? How do you plan to show Dream that he can’t push you around like that?” 

“Uh– no comment,” Tubbo replies hastily into his microphone, pushing past the man and making a break for the prime path. Journalists shout after him, some daring to follow a few steps, but most of them hang back, hoping to wheedle a few words out of the cabinet members making a more sluggish exit. 

Tubbo takes the prime path to the L’manberg docks, a place of relative peace, and it isn’t long before Tommy’s loud, stomping footsteps come up behind him.

“Oi!” Tommy scowls, catching up. “You left me in that crowd, you dickhead.”

“Oh,” Tubbo winces. In his haste to escape, he had completely abandoned Tommy in the fray. “So I did. Sorry, big man.” 

“Yeah, you fuckin.. Better be,” Tommy huffs indignantly. “After you threw me under the bus in that shitty, terrible meeting. The fuck was that!” 

Tubbo’s gaze snaps to Tommy’s. “Wha- threw you under the bus?” 

“Yes! You were all like, ohh Dream, yes fucking of course I’ll put Tommy under watch forever and make him report to his literal fucking nephew every day! Walls? Yeah! Probation you say? Sure? Five hundred weeks! God, you are so just- insufferable.”

“What do you mean? I totally just saved your ass,” Tubbo replies indignantly. “I bought you two weeks to get your act together. Dream wanted you exiled today. I stood up for you, man!”

“At least I wasn’t groaning and huffing the whole time,” Tubbo shoots back. “You could’ve made your sentence worse.” 

“But I didn’t!” 

“But you could’ve-”

“Could’ve, shmould’ve. Tubbo, I’m not going to be able to make it the next few weeks reporting to Fundy every day and not calling people bitches. I’m- I’m like a beautiful, magnificent horse. I need room to wiggle and roam! I’m a wiggler!” 

“Tommy, I am doing everything I can. Dream is terrifying, it’s hard to reason with him.” 

“What, and you’re just gonna let me get shat on cause you’re scared? Tubbo, you’ve gotta…”

Tubbo looks away, his hands curling into fists in the pockets of his slacks. He’s doing the best that he possibly can, wringing out every ounce of grace and forgiveness that Dream will give without potentially sacrificing his entire nation’s freedom. Tommy’s continuing on, telling him how he needs to stand up to Dream, punctuated with ridiculous similes that don’t even make any sense. Like a magnificent horse- what does that even mean? Tubbo’s so caught up in his own irritation that he hardly hears himself when he curtly snaps, “That’s enough, Tommy.”

Tommy stares directly at him, frowning. “I’m only trying to help.”

Tubbo’s mouth moves of its own accord. “Yeah, well, you’re not the president, are you?”

Tommy recoils like he’s been struck, halting abruptly. Hurt lines his blue eyes, turning them stony. “Wha- Tubbo, you can’t just-” 

“You are constantly undermining my authority,” Tubbo interrupts. “I am dealing with this situation as best as I possibly can, which means I have to make some hard decisions, and I can’t always prioritize you. The entire country is at stake with these conflicts with Dream, and the people have entrusted their lives to me. L’manberg comes first.”

Tommy’s mouth opens and closes, opens and closes. “Tubbo,” he finally says, as if it’s all he can say. 

“I’m dealing with this as best as I can,” Tubbo repeats. He glances at his wristwatch. “I need to meet with Ranboo to recap the meeting. I’ll see you later, Tommy.” He doesn’t wait for Tommy to bid him farewell in return. He turns and walks briskly back the way they came, towards his imaginary meeting, heart racing and a sick taste rising in his mouth. It’s for the best, he repeats to himself. I’m doing my best.

Tommy stands behind him on the prime path silently, in shock. 

It’s begun to rain.

Not the same Anon but some things I wished he had addressed considering he said he was gonna cover everything:

-Past Racism (KKK edit, the Native American tweet) it’s honestly extremely strange to me that these weren’t covered in his video considering they were pretty big controversies

-That one tweet about doxing, he talks about how he said getting doxed as someone without a following and how he shouldn’t have said that which is good but doesn’t talk about the tweet where he says he gets satisfaction in watching other ppl private their twitter. I personally think that tweet is way more damning because “it’s less bad for ppl who don’t have a following to get doxed” is way easier to just pass off as a badly worded opinion then “I like it when people who criticize me are so badly harassed by fans that they have to private their twitter” is

-Talks about how doxing is bad and ppl r parasocial but doesn’t openly acknowledge the multiple times his fandom has gotten ppl doxed, such as quote retweeting a minor who didn’t like his plushie and causing them to get harassed of the internet. Yes he acknowledges doxing is bad, but I think this could’ve been a very good moment for him to look at a specific situation where his fans reacted FOR HIM and say “this was bad don’t do this” which I think would be far more effective than a general “doxing is bad”. He could also acknowledge his part in getting this person harassed because he absolutely did not need to quote retweet them to a fandom that is known for doxing. No dream is not responsible for his fans doxing ppl, some fans will do it even if he condemns it that’s not his fault, BUT refusing to acknowledge the reality that there is an vocal part of his community that does this this and therefore just calling out other ppl without critically thinking abt how his fan base will react to it is harmful.

-His fans age, we all know who dreams primary audience is and it’s primarily teenagers, I’m not saying no adults watch him or that he needs to cater to children when he doesn’t want to, but I think it’s incredibly stupid to act like his audience isn’t consisted largely of that demographic. Everyone lies on YouTube age, when I was 7 my age for my YouTube was 21. I just think it’s a weird point to focus on when it’s very much not true.

-the “I love miners” joke in the middle of his grooming allegations that literally happened like a month ago and proves that in the some vain of blaming his (alleged) victims of not taking SA/ grooming seriously that he is ALSO not treating the situation with the gravity it deserves.

-Liking negative tweets about other creators (Tommy and quackity). I know he confirmed there’s another person running one of his fanart account (I don’t know if these r the same accounts, sorry) but either way I think it’s irresponsibly to either 1. Be publicly liking things that shame other creators and create more vitriol and hatred between fan bases or 2. Not tell this girl to stop liking that stuff?? I think after repeatedly seeing her like stuff that either encourages shipping or hatred towards other ccs he should have set some rules with her about what she could like if he didn’t agree with what she was liking.

-The 24 page document, I just wish he’d gone more in depth with document other than looking at one part going “it’s not true!” And then moving on. I think it would’ve been so much better just to actually go through and debunk the whole thing if he was able to.

-The weird sexual “jokes” made towards minors such as Tommy and Tubbo’s little sister. Yes they were “just jokes” and they don’t make him a groomer or a pedo, but a lot of them are superrrr uncomfy. The one abt Lani especially makes me uncomfortable, sexual jokes made towards you pretty much always suck, and I don’t think this makes him irredeemable but he should at least acknowledge how gross and uncomfortable this kind of humor is and try not to repeat it. If you aren’t aware of these jokes there’s a video by technoinnit on YouTube called proof/clips of dream making sexual jokes abt minors that I recommend watching

Yes he has addressed a lot of these before not in the video, but like he’s addressed everything else in the video before too?? In my personal opinion dream really focused on the stuff that I feel is easier to make himself look good for or just apologize for in general. Sorry if this is long I just wanted to address why each of the things he left out felt harmful to his argument because while I feel like a lot of the hate towards dream is often way too much or uncritical there are things that are important to criticize him for and ppl are acting like this video has absolved him of all his misdeeds or whatever when I very much feel that a lot of his video is less of an “apology” or and acknowledgement of his own faults then a “yes I guess I’ve messed up a little bit but look at how hard my life is and that’s why I acted that way” (not saying that the stuff he and his family have gone through isn’t bad, but the doesn’t excuse all his behaviors)

-Yeah, the way the Dream fandom can dox is crazy. It's some serious skill but used in such a vitriol way (did i use the word correctly, here?) It does feel a wee bit hypcocritical if he's saying doxxing is bad and then posting the @'s of Tweets from Anti-Dreamers without blurring the person's username, considering i feel like in that scenario he's sort of opening the table to online harrassment n possibly doxxing if shit really hit teh roof....

-Liking negative tweets ab other creators is so SNAKY! Idk if any Dream followers know Locked In/Footasylum, but guy called "Nightscape" on YouTube did this after going on Footasylum's reality show "Locked In" and got absolutely blasted for being "snaky" and "backstabbing"... And tbf, i think it's quite clear there's not much friendship between Dream n Tommy anymore, but ya gotta have some class or even just basic dignity to not do this shit...

after techno's parents died and he met phil n all, he went into a foster home but ran away from it pretty quickly just because he wanted to do things on his own. and besides, he had a tiny father-figure to help him, he'd be fine. like i said, he did a lot of neighborly chores and worked around the city with part-times to just get some stability,,\

Ok so. That ending fucking sucked.

Not to go "he would not fucking say that" but c!tommy would not fucking say that. Oh boohoo the abuse man was happy before the annoying teen came to the server, guess that completely justifies the psychological, mental and physical torture he put tommy through and puts them on the same level. Not to mention they were literally talking about how c!dream and c!punz goal was "becoming gods" and how they did literally every bad thing under the sun and ruined everything for everyone else for that unrealistic, stupid goal no one else wanted. How was that setup not used to show how insane they both are?? How was that mindset not reprimanded?? HOW AND WHY DO THEY GET A FRESH START LIKE THAT JUST DIDN'T HAPPEN 5 SECONDS AGO??

Big Edit: i feel the need to clarify that i don't have a big problem with ctommy saying"sorry". Because he wasn't forgiving cdream.he didn't warn about the nuke. What i have an issue with is the idea of "understanding" cdream. c!dream is human, that's the big point here. But that should come with the realization that he's a horrible human. He does not need to be understood, because he doesn't want to understand anyone else. He's a megalomaniac with a god complex and the implication that all they needed was "understanding" and then them becoming friends immediately after with the reset just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. For fucks sake, just moments ago he was equating c!tommy, a teen, being annoying, stealing and causing pranks to himself stalking, murdering, manipulating and abusing c!tommy in every possible way. These 2 things are not equal. I get that ctommy choosing to "understand" cdream rather than spit on his abusers' face was to show how ctommy is the bigger person, a better human being than cdream. But god do i hate that idea. You shouldn't need to be the bigger person than your abuser, because your abuser should have gotten what they deserved already instead of you feeling like you have to just "move on" with your life when they didn't get what they deserved for what they did. "that's just how it is" but it shouldn't be. Remember the discsaga finale? Where it seemed that ctubbo and ctommys' actually got a victory for once, a satisfying conclusion? Only for it to be ripped away because actually, cdream and cpunz planned that all along!!! Let's be honest here, did c!dream ever actually lose? Because every single time, while he receives some consequences (rarely), he always ends up winning. The discsaga finale. The prison break. And now the s1 finale. What does that show us? What are we supposed to get from this? Why can't c!tubbo and c!tommy ever just be allowed to have an actual victory for once, a happy ending for themselves without compromises and actuallys?-

- Why aren't they allowed to be happy without c!dream ruining it and having to make compromises to live with the man who ruined their lives?

ok but consider the apologies we've had thus far, and the stories they have individually told.

techno's apology was awkward, but amicably resolved. techno never held too much bad blood for wilbur in the specific, so it was a solid starting point, and it went well. techno showed that mending things is possible, and even if it's uncomfortable it's not the end of the world and it's worth it to try.

tubbo was one of the relationships that held the most hurt, but also some of the most care. wilbur put planning and effort into making a grand gesture, for this one, and it paid off with a peaceful ending. his apology to tubbo gave wilbur a solid victory, a sense that his efforts Can pay off, that he Can leave something better in his wake and create new, peaceful memories behind him.

eret's apology was unplanned and abrupt, and at points tense and harsh, but ultimately also ended well, achieving a sense of closure for both parties. eret was the first to say, "sincere though you may be, it's not right to just apologize and walk away; you have to prove it with your actions," and that was something wilbur ultimately took to heart.

fundy's apology was also unplanned, and while a sort of closure was reached, it was in an extremely brutal fashion; not a gentle tying of loose ends, but a firm line in the sand, and a violent, bloody rejection. in contrast to eret, fundy said, "sometimes it doesn't matter what you say or what you prove, sometimes it's not a matter of you walking away and giving other people space, sometimes people will push you away themselves. and sometimes people destroy themselves in light of the pain you have caused and there is nothing you can do about it, as much as you may wish to reach out, because there is a boundary established there that you cannot cross. sometimes you have to witness the consequences of the pain you caused and walk away."

and all of these apologies, all of these various contrasting reactions give extremely important lessons for wilbur to learn! because though they may seem to conflict at times, they're all potentially true for Anyone who has caused hurt in the midst of their own suffering. and it's a testament to how human these characters can be that the ccs are able to tell these varying stories and show all these different reactions to the simple act of apology and have them feel so raw and real.

so then, narratively, who do we have left?

first off, there's niki. niki, who has been the most vocally bitter and angry over the hurt wilbur has caused her.

and then there's tommy. tommy, who wilbur himself perhaps does not even register as someone to apologize to, but who has always, through everything, despite all the hurt, has Always stuck by wilbur's side, and is so clearly the final stop on this journey.

i wonder what lessons they will teach, what stories they will tell?

dream smp warning cause i know most of you guys don’t wanna see me talk about the dsmp in a sincere way. i am talking about the dream smp finale. a very long post.

so i just watched the las nevadas ending and the tommyinnit dream ending and i… actually quite liked them both. i must say for the tommyinnit dream ending i had heard bad and did not have high expectations for it.

i liked that ending, but obviously i would’ve been fine with tommy killing dream for the last time and ending it with them, of course, still having problems, but extremely less so without dream. however, the ending we got really embodies the being of the dreamsmp, so i guess there’s not much more i can ask for.

we know that with the dsmp, every character has a story, and every character has a perspective, and who’s right or wrong depends on what perspective you’re viewing. we didn’t get to see dream’s perspective except for at the very beginning when he started the server, which i’ll just be honest, i’ve never watched any earlier in the dsmp than when tommy joined. dream went against everyone in the dsmp at some point, and no one got to see his pov.

now, just so we’re on the same page here, i still despise him. i don’t care what he’s been through, he’s still probably my most hated villain. understanding him was one of those things i’d always wondered about, so i’m glad we finally got to find out. and looking back on it, it makes sense. he’s always wanted, and i quote, “a big happy family.” and of course, tommy did start all the conflict, and it escalated from there, but what dream did was in his heart. he had that in him.

if the breaking point for both of them was, let’s just say, when tommy and wilbur started the camar van, tommy was just having fun, while dream saw it was causing conflict and wanted to remove it immediately. that’s how dream is with everything. he tried to remove the discs, he tried to remove l'manberg, and he tried to remove tommy, all while still trying to keep it in tact, because he’s trying to remove all the problems while still keeping people who like the problems happy. just like disney trying to appeal to homophobes and gay people at the same time, it’s not gonna work. dream couldn’t just live with it, not having his perfect life. he couldn’t withstand the smallest inconvenience. and he was willing to destroy anyone or anything to get his perfect life, where everyone followed his rules and everyone was happy with it. NO cdream apologist is welcome here.

however, i agree that he and tommy very well could’ve been friends. not then and there, though, oh no. before “the incident” as they have so lovingly dubbed, tommy made it clear that there was not a second when they were on the same side. i think that holds true in their final moments too. they understood each other, but they weren’t on the same side. i think what would’ve happened if there was no scratch is that tommy and dream would truce. not on the same side, not buddies nor pals. they just would not be messing with each other anymore. i wouldn’t have liked that, though. i wanted dream to die because if he was still alive, he would just keep doing what he was doing.

dream did die, so i’m happy with that. i don’t mind that tommy died too. what better way to go than with your sworn enemy after you just got to understand each other? and when they arrive in post-scratch dsmp, which we still don’t know how happened or why tubbo’s there and not punz, they do have a clean slate. dream doesn’t feel the need to have everything under control, not yet at least. tommy is still as mischievous as ever. (which goes to show that while tommy instigated everything, he wasn’t the problem.)

but what i like most about post-scratch dsmp is how they made it feel like, well, like you just joined a new smp with a bunch of strangers. of course, that’s not how it happened originally, and you usually don’t START an smp with strangers, but this is a special circumstance. tommy doesn’t even know who tubbo is despite knowing tubbo before the dsmp. i doubt anyone knows who anyone is despite many of them being in contact before the dsmp. who even knows if they remember ANYTHING that happened before the dsmp. since what happened to them before the dsmp IS important to their lore, i’d imagine they don’t remember.

the ending brings back those days of meeting new people on minecraft. i like to think the short conversation they carried out was done in the minecraft chat. they just had to stylize it by speaking since that leaves a bigger impact on the audience and is more natural by dsmp standards. the conversation was casual, awkward, short, sweet, and very minecraft-y. the “wanna build a base” as the first course of action selling that this is, in fact, a minecraft survival multiplayer server and not some big elaborate roleplay. and even though it fits right into the conversation, the “wanna be friends?” really knocks you back, as it’s supposed to i’m sure. it’s not a weird thing to ask, people who are just now meeting. yet for us, the people who have watched these two go at each other for two years, it does really seem impossible. my brain thinks, “this is very, very wrong. they would never be friends. and tubbo is right there, and they are not speaking.”

i know this might sound stupid to those who didn’t sit through it in real time. like, “duh of course it’s unnatural they were enemies just a second ago.” but i mean i really can’t see tommy and dream being friends. yes, they very well could’ve been, but i can’t see them as such. i can’t see dream being good at all. it is so bent in my mind that dream is a terrible person. i don’t want to see him being friendly. i don’t want to see tommy near dream. point being: if dream and tommy do become friends in dsmp 2, i don’t think my brain will allow me to accept it. if i even watch it to begin with, cause i got a lot of stuff going on. i always manage to get drug back into minecraft though, so who knows, maybe i won’t be able to keep my hands off of it.

thanks for reading all of this if you did. honestly i’m hoping they don’t make dream all good guy goodie two shoes because he definitely is not a misunderstood villain; he is a bad person. and resetting everything to make it where dream is an angel now makes it seem like all that happened pre-scratch wasn’t his fault (it definitely was). it sort of weakens what tommy went through and makes it seem like it was all circumstance fault even though what happened was definitely decided by a person who had a choice to do the right thing or to not, and that person chose to do the wrong thing and hurt people. instead, they can show how with tommy as a friend, he can overcome those destructive controlling tendencies.

The island being alive is so!!! Rahhhh!! I love the concept so much!

The idea that it will give you everything, make you happy, and then take even more from you. It's so interesting! Always loved the sorta Neverland vibe that the island gives. A place you never have to leave and can be happy and explore every day...but watch out!

not to bring it back to tubbo’s wall street metaphors but the island really invests in its residents and generates entities and natural challenges that the players will enjoy just to keep them there, it really is such a give and take. the way it learns what each player desires, improving itself and going steps above every time to better the experience for the players and keep them around. it’s so very neverland it’s quite seahaven island too

if the island is alive my theory is that the federation is there to study it. the island is some paranormal being and the federation has been established on the island and prodding at it for much, much longer than the players have been there. i think it’s possible that the crashes in this case were not accidental (which. idk how hot that take is tbh) but instead the island causing them in some bermuda-triangle type maneuver to get somebody, anybody else looking at what the federation is doing. still incredibly possible that the federation caused every crash because they wanted to see how the island would interact with people— sidenote i saw this theory somewhere (i think on here pls let me know if it’s you i’ll link the post) that the ice block batch of players are actually the original players from the trailer because the island’s infrastructure looks so different between the trailer and when our initial sixteen batch joined which is delicious meta that’s so interesting, n makes it possible that the federation brought that first ice block batch and the island knows what happened to them and then crashed a train and a boat and a plane to rally up players to find them

poetry is so nice. i used to write poetry sometimes when i was in really bad moments of mental health stuff, so most of my poetry is really triggering probably. i totally understand you with feeling like characters are living and breathing people, i feel that so much. i had an oc who i adored some years ago and haven’t touched on her since those years ago. unfortunate, i miss her so much (her name is june btw). i miss writing, it’s one of the only things i’ve ever truly shared and created because i used to be good at it, but now i think i’ve lost a lot of that. the last thing i wrote was a short c!ranboo poem that i posted a few months ago (i think). and i completely get you, makes total sense. i think writing in that way is really nice

i don't have all the energy atm to explain my full headcanons but basically i had a fic AU set in a modern, non-fantastical universe where the osmp cast lived in this smaller quaint town and eventually o!Ranboo left to move into the city after a natural disaster event happened in the other town and caused her some trauma. her relationships are generally strained but are better with some people than others but inevitably she is able to find her way home. there's more to it than that but that was my idea hehe

poetry is so so so fucking healing seriously, and honestly like! any kind of writing is so important to keep regardless of whether it fits on this metric of "good/bad", like. it's coming from the heart and your experiences and these characters that you connect to (june sounds lovely by the way, <3) and that's what's most important. i've had to give myself a lot of grace with cough syrup about whether or not i was writing it perfectly because, yeah, the first couple of chapters are objectively on the shittier end compared to the rest of the fic. but what matters is that it conveyed what i wanted it to, and it gave me a way to spend that summer, and it meant a lot to me.

i hope this isn't uncomfortable to say but the fact that your csranboo uses the name mare because of me makes me like, tear up a little. and yes, i remember that anon! i find it so interesting how many people have asked me about alternate names i'd give the characters for purposes of fictives because to be entirely honest i am so ungodly shitty with names that every time i flounder LMAO, but it's very sweet that people ask me haha . also tell your cstubbo i say hello as well , there are many brain guys in this community too and i think that's realy neat honestly

hello :3 nothing better than waking up to a new midnight series update. and coming back from work to another update, i get so happy whenever you post something new<3

also . grian and mumbo in the previous one<3 grian got his homoerotic wing preening yess that's what he deserves!! god they're both so possessive and fucked up in the head and completely in love with each other<3 and it's soo grian that he didn't just straight up said he wants mumbo but decided to use bird language instead to show him .

they went to visit scar in his shop!! AND TUBBO IS HEREEE MY BOY!!! :D SCAR IS HAVING MORE DAD MOMENTS YESSSS. they make me so happy, dad scar is everything to me fr. but poor mumbo, i felt so bad for him in that scene:( hope he gets the chance to co-parent tubbo in the future . hehehe

The war for L'Manburg. It was tearing everyone apart, and people were choosing sides. You tried to stay out of it, but everyone has to chose sides eventually. You sided with Wilbur and Tommy. They were your brothers after all, choosing anyone else over them felt wrong. At this point time, it didn't matter if you were a saint or sinner you chose a side or you died no  between.

It takes, and it takes, and it takes 

Everything went to hell because Dream and Wilbur were acting like children. They couldn't just coexist in peace Dream had to start a war over nothing. Everyone was stealing from each other, robbing villages, and doing whatever they could to survive. You hated every second of it. 

And we keep loving anyway 

No matter how hard the fighting got, no matter how long the war went, on you could still count on Wilbur and Tommy.  You loved them, and that was what kept you going. The knowledge that no matter what happened you would have your brothers. 

We laugh and we cry, and we break

It seems like just yesterday you'd been with your brothers  trying to scam Tubbo out of blaze rods. Now you were sitting here with a sword by your side, trying to calm your mind, praying that everything would go back to normal. Even though deep down, you knew this was the new normal. 

And we make our mistakes 

You'd made the mistake choosing to trust Eret. I love you had trusting him was the worst mistake anyone could have made he betrayed L'Manburg. But worse than that he betrayed you and you were the type of person to trust a little too easily. 

And if there's a reason I'm by his side

Wilbur had chosen you to be his right hand man, or so the saying goes. You weren't quite sure why, especially when Tubbo or Tommy would be better suited. But he chose you and you can really complain it was great you loved getting to be with Wilbur. But it didn't leave much time for you and Tommy. 

When so many have tried 

So many people have tried to get close to Wilbur and maybe it was because the two of you were related, but you and him clicked. You both stood up for what you believed in, and you both trusted too easily. You both tried to see the good in people, but you could both hold a grudge. 

Then I'm willing to wait for it 

You were willing to wait. Didn't really matter for what. Find out why you were Wilbur's right hand ma, to find out why I dream couldn't let L'Manburg be, to find out anything that you wanted to know.

My father was a genius 

Philza. Your father you'd  taking after him in several ways including having wings. He was a strategy genius, you always knew the right ways to find out the enemy's weakness and how to take them down. 

My brother commanded respect 

Technoblade. Your brother he was amazing he'd been exiled, but he can back he's been living with you for several months. He was a god, and people feared him and respected him out of fear. People knew that if they disrespected him it wouldn't end well. 

When they ran, they left no instructions

Philza had taken Techno and ran with him. But they hadn't left instructions on how to live without them. It's been hard at first but with Wilbur and Tommy, the three of you made it work. 

Just a legacy to protect 

You, Wilbur and Tommy had made a pact to protect your dad's legacy. He had been a great strategist and all of you thrived to live up to.

Death doesn't discriminate, between the sinner and the saints 

Wilbur was dead. Phil had killed him per his request. Philza had said that Wilbur begged for it. You had fallen to your knees as sobs wracked your body. You hadn't been able to sleep for weeks. You were somehow in a worse state than Tommy. You and Tommy had grown closer than ever, bonding over the death of your brother. 

It takes and it takes and it takes 

You and Tommy both agreed to do whatever it would take to get Wilbur back. Death had taken Wilbur all to soon. Sure, you guys had Ghostbur, but it wasn't the same. He didn't remember either of you. 

Tommy's pov: 

I couldn't sleep. Not sure if it was insomnia or the fact that I was still missing Wilbur. I heard a soft knock on my door. It was the special knock that Y/N, Wilbur and I had used. *thump-thump....thump-thump*  I opened the door and saw Y/N standing there, with bags prominent under his eyes. 

I invited him and we talked late into the night about the war and L'Manburg and Wilbur. 

"Do you ever with you were with Wil?" 

"All the time, Tommy" 

"We keep living anyway"

Narrators pov: 

We rise and we fall 

The remainders of L'Manburg were not giving up a fight. Jschlatt might have convinced Tubbo to join his side, but the rest of you weren't giving up. 

We break 

You had cuts and bruises all along your body, in parts where your armor didn't quite cover. You kept going. You glanced over at Tommy and saw that he was in significantly worse shape than you. You were losing blood through the open arrow wounds on your shoulder and side. You were near blinded by the blood dripping onto your face from a blow to the head. Sapnap wasn't giving up, he was determined to make you fall. Back against a wall, beaten and bloody, we allowed yourself to surrender. 

And we make our mistakes 

Big mistake. Sapnap held you against the wall until Dream walked over and held a netherite dagger in his hand. The blade had a dangerous curve, and you could tell he was wanting to use it. He trailed it down your face, before swinging it down and leaving a scar that trailed from your right eyebrow to your left jaw bone. 

"A reminder of what happens when you mess with me" 

​​​​​​Tommy's pov: 

I sprinted through the battlefield searching for Y/N, I had to find him. He was all I had left. I saw a figure hunched over on the ground and began sprinting faster. I slid down next to them, and gasped softly. It was Y/N, he had a long cut down his face. I reached out and bruises my hand against it softly. 

"Who?"

"Dream"

My face heated up in anger, and I felt my fists clench. Dream was so dead if I got my hands in him. 

Y/N mumbled something under his breath. 

"What?" 

"if there's a reason I'm still alive, when brother who loved me has died, in willing to wait for it" 

Y/N pov: 

I stood in front of the mirror, and traced the scar on my face. The day I had it gotten fresh in my head. I had stopped craving my revenge long ago. I knew that it would never solve anything. It had been months since the battle, and Tommy would still wake up screaming in panic. 

Today was our last chance. We were trying one more time to bring Wilbur back to life. I hoped it would work. 

"I am the one thing in life I can control" 

I reminded my self. 

Ghostbur/Wilbur's pov: 

I was just floating around hanging out with Friend, when I felt a force pulling me. It almost hurt, but I couldn't fight it and let it pull me. 

I opened my eyes, and immediate confusion came over me. I knew I was in a house, but it wasn't mine. I heard a soft voice whisper my name. I turned around and saw my brothers. They both had tears in their eyes, but Y/N looked more relieved. I took a shaky step forward and was pulled into a tight hug.  

I stepped back and my eyes softened seeing Y/N's scar. 

"Who di-" 

"Dream, but it's fine" 

I wanted to be angry but I was to happy fully care, I could be with my brothers again. I stepped over to a mirror that was slightly cracked, and realized I looked different. My hair had white in it now, just a bit at the front and my eyes were slightly more red than before. 

"I am imitable, I am an original" 

It felt good to be alive again, I turned back to my brother's. 

"Take me on a tour of the SMP?" 

 Tommy's pov: 

We took Wilbur on a tour of the SMP since it was bigger now than it was before. I had started hearing voices in my head, Dreams specifically. He wouldn't leave me alone. 

"So, Tommy, when are you coming for me? Or are you standing still so you don't scare Y/N?" 

"I'm not falling behind or running late, I'm not standingg still, I am lying in wait" 

"Wilbur faces this endless uphill climb"

"Wilbur has something to prove, he has something to lose" 

"Wilbur's pace is relentless he wastes no time

I didn't notice that I was mumbling until Y/N stopped and stared at me, confusion written across his features. 

"You ok, Tom?" 

"Yea, yea, I'm fine, let's go" 

Narrators pov: 

Dream doesn't hesitate, he exhibits no restraint 

Dream was a being that you shouldn't mess with. He was know for not hesitating and show no mercy. 

He takes and he takes and he takes 

All Dream had done was take from SMP, ever since L'Manburg, he had gotten worse. 

And he keeps winning anyway 

Everyone idolized Dream, well, everyone who wasn't part of L'Manburg. In their eyes he could do no wrong. 

He changes the game, plays and he raises the stakes

Everything seemed to be based on what Dream wants and what Dream needs. It wasn't fair, the worst part was that he always got away with everything he did. 

And there's a reason he seems to thrive when so few survive

No matter who died, no matter how, Dream thrived. He always seemed to thrive. It was like he survived on the chaos and death. 

Then goddammit I'm willing to wait for it 

You would wait for as long as it takes, to understand why everything was the it was. To understand why it was such chaos and destruction.

1. Do you have an inner world? If yes, is it something that you consciously made? What is your inner world like?

Yeah, we have one. It's always sorta been there, but ig it's kinda odd compared to other systems?? I (The host, Alex) can't seem to leave front at all, so I've actually never been there

Lucas, my co-host tells me it's kinda like a house, but with zero walls. Kinda like when you're playing Sims and you don't have enough money to get a house, so everything gets dumped together in roomish-clusters

The most that I (Alex) can see of it is the black void that is the front area. If I'm really dissossciaty then I can go to the back 'wall' and look kinda upish, like it's a platform made of tupperware and see blurred shapes that are alters and furniture

Only I can't climb the 'wall' to actually get there, which is slightly disappointing..

Oh, and there's a huge tree. It's Record's. They aren't mentioned on here (Shy), but he wanted a mention for his tree

Anyway, I really hope that was clear. It's kinda hard to explain. It's got a bit of dream logic going on.

4. How do you experience communication between parts?

Tbh, I'm not sure how to answer this one.

I have a lot trouble telling alters apart from my thoughts, so we do a lot of writing if we want to talk to each other. Everyone has a different color and when they want to say something they are supposed to ask me to switch colors first as that's notably different from my normal thought process.

Of course this works better with some alters than others, but that's how I communicate most of the time

I think the writing also helps people to remember to talk clearly and one at a time cause we've had some issues with that too..

Anyway, imma end it there.
