Misdirector Chapter Two Sneak Peek
AO3 READERS BE WARNED: SPOILERS!!!!!
So I've been writing a lot lately, and I just finished the first part of chapter 2 of my "Misdirector" fanfiction. I still have a bit to go, but I hope to get the next chapter out sooner than I did with the first one. In the meantime, here's a small preview of the second chapter that I have been writing over the past few days:
Even though she was reminded about the insults she said to her fellow students, Chloé, however, remained unfazed. “Well, I still mean all of it,” she said, “But if this stupid, childish film actually gets released in theaters and turns someone into a star, that someone should be me! So, you're gonna give me the part my half-of-a-sister is playing because everything she owns is mine!”
With a quick “Hmph!” Chloé turned and started walking away.
“Ch-Chloé, we c-can’t do that…..” A mumbling voice spoke up.
Chloé immediately stopped in her tracks. She turned around and scanned the room for whoever dared to speak out of turn. Instantly, she noticed that the “lame writer”, Marc Anciel, was now standing up, looking down at his fingers as he fidgeted with them to avoid making eye contact with the blonde. Chloé stormed up to the writer, seething with anger. “Um, excuse me?!” She exclaimed, “What did you just say to me, Anciel?”
Chloé roughly jabbed her index finger at Marc’s chest, causing the young man to flinch back from both pain and intimidation. He was now regretting that he spoke up, but there was no going back from it now, especially with an irritated Chloé up in his face. Still fidgeting with his fingers and looking down anxiously, Marc started to speak again. “L-Like Mr. Astruc said, i-it’s too late to ch-change anything,” he mumbled, “W-We d-don’t have enough t-time-.....”
“Ugh, here you go again with the mumbling! What are you even saying?!” Exclaimed Chloé, causing Marc to flinch again and shrink back, “I swear, it’s like every single time you’re talking to me if it’s not mumbling then you’re stuttering! Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound when you mumble and stutter?! Utterly ridiculous! Not to mention so annoying that I can’t even understand a word you’re saying. If our so-called writer of those ridiculous “Ladybug and Chat Noir” comics is so talented, then shouldn’t you be capable of talking like a normal person?! Now then you “Stuttering Disaster”, if you have something to say then just say it! And this time, SPEAK UP!”
Marc flinched back as Chloé yelled out the last part. Not since earlier today when Clara Contard was doing her news report did Marc want to so badly run away, but he found himself frozen in place despite the intense heat that he felt throughout his body. All eyes were on him, waiting for him to respond. He tried to speak up again. Marc tried hard to find the courage to tell Chloé that she couldn’t just steal the lead role that her half-sister, Zoé, had earned through her talent and hard work. He didn’t care that Chloé was mocking him or his writing, but she had no right to just swoop in and snatch away the part that her sister rightfully deserved more than her. However, when Marc opened his mouth, there was only silence. He tried to speak again and still no words escaped from his lips. He gave it one more try, but there was nothing but air. Marc then closed his mouth and looked down sadly in defeat.
“That’s just what I thought,” sneered Chloé. With a smirk, Chloé turned on her heels and triumphantly started walking out of the art room.
“Banana, Chloé?” Sabrina offered, holding out her bowl of bananas. Chloé simply walks past her without a word and Sabrina starts trailing behind her as both girls leave.
Everyone in the room was silent about what had just transpired. The emotions that everyone felt were mixed or different. Some of them just stood or sat speechless, too in shock to say anything as they were processing all that had just occurred. Others were feeling sorry for the way that Chloé had treated both Zoé and Marc, and regretting that they couldn’t say or do anything in their defense. And the last couple of students, specifically Alix and Nathaniel, were feeling anger towards the type of bullshit that had just taken place. Well, Alix was feeling more annoyed than angry, but Nathaniel was definitely seething.
Chloé was doing it again! Making others feel like crap and trying to take away whatever they have that she wants, Chloé will always be a selfish little bitch! How could Marc ever think that someone like her could ever change into a better person?!
“Marc!” Nathaniel suddenly thought, casting his gaze onto his comic book partner. The poor boy was still looking down in silent defeat from Chloé’s berating, and anxiously fiddling with the strings of his favorite red hoodie. While Nathaniel was once again reminded of his anger towards Chloé for how she treated his friends, especially with the way that she had just humiliated Marc, he decided that now was not the time to stay angry. He was still pissed and wanted to march out the door to catch up to Chloé to give her a piece of his mind, even though he would never really be able to do that in a million years, but Nathaniel knew that there were other people to be concerned about other than Chloé. After all, Marc was going to need him. “Err…and Zoé, of course!” Nathaniel's thoughts corrected himself urgently, “Marc and Zoé! But then again, I think Marinette has already got Zoé covered….”
“Don’t worry, kids,” said André, slowly and nervously walking to the door, “I'll go talk to her. Everything will be fine tomorrow!” André immediately closed the door and bolted after his daughter.
Marinette and Zoé looked at each other, both were uncertain about André's promise but Marinette still tried to put on her best reassuring smile for Zoé. As for Marc, Nathaniel stood up and walked over to his side. He put a comforting and reassuring hand on his friend’s shoulder, bringing the young writer out of his state of distraught. Marc turned to face Nathaniel, who was trying to wear the best smile that he could under the circumstances to help reassure his friend.
“It’s going to be okay, Marc,” said Nathaniel, though there was still a hint of doubt being masked in his words, “Just like you said, it’s already too late for changes. Besides, I doubt that the producer, Mr. Bob Roth, would agree to let Chloé into the film even if she tried to use her threats and intimidation to try to take over Zoé’s role. He knows that we don’t have time for any big changes in the movie like recasting the lead role. There’s nothing that Chloé can do.”
Marc tried his best to smile back at the redhead. Nathaniel’s reasoning may have provided a little bit of comfort for the writer, but the overall feeling of anxiety and dread still lingered. Nathaniel must have picked up that Marc’s smile was somewhat forced as his smile began to falter, and he immediately regretted doing so as his friend’s smile soon followed suit. One thing was certain between the two boys, this didn’t feel like the end of the Chloé situation. As a matter of fact, this felt like only the beginning.

Poor Marinette, fr. I love her because of her personality, her sass, brain and talent and the way she's a "girly girl" but doesn't hesitate to stand up for herself and be strong - and I love her bc I hate the sht she's put through in the show and fandom - and now I discover she's That Guy's virtual imaginary daughter with his French-Chinese ex-gf Sabine. And show!Marinette's father's name is Tom. And Adrien, who's supposed to end up with Mari, is Asstruc's self-insert. Let that sink in. Creepy.
I have to force myself not to think of all those details because Marinette’s circumstances are uncomfortable enough as is without thinking about Astruc.

Panic Attack
Written by: JuliaFC

Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by (c) Thomas Astruc, TS1 Bouygues, Disney Channel, Zagtoon, Toei Animation. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
Written for the Facebook h/c group “Hurt/Comfort Italia - Fanart and Fanfiction - GRUPPO NUOVO | Groups | Facebook”, weekend challenge, “Atonement 2.0”. I was asked to write a *coughs* drabble about character A being stuck somewhere and character B having to help them. If you speak/read Italian and are interested in the genre, join us! We’ll be glad to see you!
oOoOoOoOoOo
She knew it wasn’t a good idea. It really, really wasn’t a good idea. Her guts had warned her. She had felt a very bad sensation in the pit of her stomach and a growing sense of anxiety the more she tried to convince herself that it was okay. That it was only a boat, that they were safe. That it was a hot and sunny afternoon, that Bois de Boulogne was full of people and nothing could have really happened.
When Adrien had said that he had never rowed a boat before, Alya had winked at her. Her friend had poked her in the ribs saying, “That’s a great idea, Sunshine! Let’s rent two. Nino and I will take one, and you and Marinette the other!”
Marinette had tried her best to not think too much of it, or rather she had tried her best to not have a panic attack because she was going to go on a boat, alone, with Adrien. He was going to row and it was going to be all so romantic and she wanted to die.
Because even though he had now made it clear that he wasn’t in a relationship with Kagami, so Marinette knew she wasn’t betraying her friend’s trust, he was still her crush. She had tried so hard to move on. She had genuinely tried to reciprocate Luka’s feelings. However, the trip to New York they had been on two months ago had given her time to reflect and the heart to heart she had with Luka upon her return had cemented their break up. She couldn’t deny the feelings she had for Adrien anymore. She loved him too much to let him go.
They had been alone, facing each other as they sat in the small boat. Adrien had been happily rowing. The silence between them had been deafening. Her insides had been melting every time he had been giving her one of those looks; those looks that he had always given her, but that strangely enough had become more intense and more languid since they had that dance under the moonlight in New York. Her face was so red that she started fearing the colour would become permanent.
And then, of course, it had to happen. The loud bang echoed in the air like a clap of thunder. The akuma appeared out of nowhere and started billowing gusts of wind all around, making the water of the river sway in big waves and the boat they were in began swinging dangerously. Marinette saw Adrien putting the oars down and clenching his hands on the boat while looking at her worriedly.
“Are you okay, Marinette? Can you manage?” he said.
She nodded. “Yes, it’s an akuma. We need to find a way to get to safety and hide.”
The akuma had the shape of an enormous swan; it had walked through from the back of the park and now started uttering high pitched squeals. “You won’t disturb the flora and the fauna of this park any longer!” it screamed. The bird twirled its neck and started flapping its wings, creating wind that was becoming stronger and stronger.
Marinette was panicking. She knew she had to find a hiding place and transform but she couldn’t do that because she was in the most exposed location possible, in the middle of a river, and she couldn’t go anywhere or hide from the view. She couldn't even hide inside the boat, because Adrien was with her.
Adrien must have misinterpreted her pallor, because he moved one of his hands and grabbed Marinette’s arm, holding it firmly. “I’ve got you,” he shouted, trying to make his voice heard through the wind. But Marinette couldn't answer because the wind suddenly picked up even stronger and their boat, together with a few more, was captured by a column of what looked like water mixed with wind and they felt like they were floating in mid air. Then it all happened very fast: the boat (with them inside) rose higher and higher, and the downblast of wind threw everything around. Marinette felt Adrien’s body wrapping around hers protectively, and next thing she knew, she was slammed down on the ground somewhere and lost consciousness from the impact.
oOo
It took her a couple of minutes to open her eyes again, and when she did, her gaze was met with darkness. She didn’t know what was going on, but she felt that she had something very heavy pressing on her body and she could hardly breathe under its weight. Slowly, her eyes got accustomed to the darkness and she started making out the shapes of the things around her.
She seemed to be… underneath the boat? Yes, she could actually see the top part of one of the oars that Adrien had been using to row the boat just millimetres from her temple. She tried to move to push the boat up, but soon realised that the heaviness was actually clenched, almost wrapped around her body. She tried to detangle her arms from underneath the heavy load, so that she could move and touch around to understand where she was, and as she did that, she had a horrible thought going through her mind.
“Tikki!” she whispered. The red and black kwami had been resting inside her small purse, but now Marinette didn’t know where her purse was.
“Shhhh!” she heard the voice of the small kwami whisper into her ear. “I’m okay, Marinette, but you’re stuck under the boat and a whole load of branches and trees.”
Marinette’s eyes opened wide. “Oh no! I don’t have time for this,” she growled. “Damn Akuma! We need t—” she started saying but Tikki put her little paws on her mouth, then flew back to her ear and whispered, “You’re not alone, Marinette!”
“Wha—” she started, and as she did that, she felt something moving on her chest, right between her breasts.
“Uuuuuuh what happened?” She couldn’t be mistaken. This was Adrien’s voice.
“Adrien?” she asked, already knowing the answer.
“Marinette? Where are you?” She felt something moving from her side and she thought that probably Adrien had moved a hand to his head, maybe rubbing the nape of his neck. Or maybe he was just massaging his head where he must have gotten hit when they landed on the ground. She could feel a tender spot on her own head too, just on the top of her left ear. Then she felt the pressure of limbs trying to detangle from the top of her and something started to feel and squeeze her chest.
She immediately tensed, her eyes going wide as her face felt suddenly hotter than ever. “S-stop. Now!” she managed to say and felt him freeze on top of her and what was frantically touching her all over stopped immediately.
“Sorry, I was trying to figure out what I was laying on.”
Oh God, could he hear the furious beating of her heart? Of all the scenarios she had dreamed of in her mind of Adrien checking her out, being stuck under a boat buried under a load of trees definitely wasn’t one. She was cold. And sore. And an akuma was on the loose and now Chat Noir was probably fighting against it and wondering why his Lady hadn’t arrived yet. A surge of adrenaline rushed through her veins at the mere thought of it. No, she couldn’t leave her kitty alone! Besides, he had no way to purify the akuma and she definitely didn’t want this particular akuma to multiply!
“It’s know, you okay… I mean you knew okay, uuuuuh I mean, It’s okay you didn’t know.” She nearly felt her face combusting on the spot when she felt his nose on her skin. “Adrien. Th-that’s my ch-chest,” she managed to say before getting completely breathless when she felt his breath in between her breasts as he gasped loudly and tried in a mad frenzy to detangle himself.
“So sorry, Marinette! I’m stuck, can’t move at all. I’m trying to pin myself on my elbows, but my neck hurts, I must have banged it quite hard, can't lift my head much. Can you move? I’ll try to lift myself up a little.” As he said that, she felt a bit of the pressure coming off her body and she could finally breathe. She tried to wiggle underneath him to squish out and felt that her body wasn’t tangled anywhere.
“If you could hold that position and maybe lift yourself up a little bit more, maybe I can get out.” She felt what now she had identified as his body tense and lift just slightly further up, so she took that as a cue to start wiggling even more. With enormous difficulty, she untangled her legs and pulled the top part of herself out from under the boat. Her foot got stuck for a second, but the thought of the effort that poor Adrien was doing to lift himself up added to her panic and desperation and she managed to get herself out. She looked at her foot and noticed a big scratch on it. She had also lost one of her ballet shoes. As soon as she took her foot out, she heard a gasp and the boat crashed even more on top of Adrien, burying him further and leaving him nearly no gap for air. She heard the boy whimper underneath it.
“Are you all right, Adrien?” she shouted. She tried to lift the boat up, but the wood wouldn’t move at all. So she started trying to remove some of the branches that had fallen on top of the boat, to free it.
“I… I’m not. I’m c-claustrophobic, Marinette. I c-can’t breathe!” He started coughing and Marinette started panicking outside the boat.
Merde! Thats the last thing she needed now. She was hoping to go look for help and transform at the same time and get rid of the akuma. But she couldn’t leave him like that. Her whole soul was screaming inside her that she couldn’t possibly leave Adrien on his own (or any human being to be honest, but especially Adrien!) while he was at his most vulnerable.
“Oh no! Adrien, don’t panic. Close your eyes and concentrate on breathing!”
“I can’t!” His voice was hoarse, almost a whisper.
“Shoot! Adrien, please listen to me.” He coughed once more and her heart doubled its speed in her chest. “Please, Adrien, listen. Listen. Close your eyes. Imagine the most beautiful thing you have ever seen.” She heard him whimpering. “Do it, Adrien. Think of what you love the most. Picture it in your head in detail.”
“Uuuuuuh…” he whimpered again, but his voice wasn't as hoarse and he didn’t cough any more.
“Are you picturing this beautiful thing, Adrien? Do you want to talk about it?” As she was talking, she kept looking around. She tried to pull up the boat again but she couldn’t even lift it a millimeter. So she gave her attention again to the branches on top. There were some big trunks among the smaller branches and they were too heavy for her to lift, so she knew that it would have been impossible for her to get Adrien out of the boat without help. But she didn’t want to leave him there. She eyed her phone thoughtfully, but the signal bar was showing ‘only emergency calls’. When she tried to dial the number of the boulangerie, no sound came out and after about half a minute, the phone hung up by itself. No, they were too deep into the woods, or maybe the akuma had damaged the phone wires; maybe a combination of the two.
No, there was only one thing to do. She went back on her knees and put a hand on the wood of the boat. “Are you okay, Adrien?”
“I’m a little better, but I won’t resist much longer,” he said, his voice still very shaky. No, she definitely couldn’t leave him there.
“Forgive me, my friend, I have no other choice!” she whispered and then said much louder, “TIKKI, SPOTS ON!” As the sparkle of pink energy wrapped all around her, she could clearly hear a loud gasp coming from within the boat. “I’m sorry that you found out like this, Adrien.”
She started working at the branches, lifting a much heavier load now that she had her suit on. However, the heaviest ones were still too heavy for her to lift, even as Ladybug. “Damn it! Adrien, I still can’t free the boat!” She looked around, almost hoping that she would see a sign that everything would be okay. She needed something. Someone. Yes, she definitely needed someone. Someone she knew way too well. “Where is that bloody cat when you need him?” she cursed loudly, more to herself than to anybody else.
“Don’t!” she heard a voice that didn’t sound Adrien’s one coming from inside the boat. She opened her eyes wide and froze on the spot, resting one of her ears against the wood of the boat and listening very carefully. Surely she had just imagined it, Adrien was alone until seconds before! “I said don’t. Don’t you even th—”
“PLAGG, CLAWS OUT!” boomed Adrien’s voice. Blood drained completely from Ladybug’s face.
WHAT?
“CATACLYSM!” As soon as he said that, the boat, and all the trees and trunks at the top of it, were rendered to ash. And immediately after, her stunned gaze was met by the shiny green eyes of her masked partner.
“Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu... Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?” she managed to say. Her eyes were still as wide as saucers, her heart skipping several beats as her mouth gaped open in a small o.
Chat Noir bowed theatrically in front of her and then picked her hand up and kissed her knuckles. “The ‘bloody cat’ is and will always be at your service, My Lady!” he said in a joking tone, his eyes never leaving her own. Then he tried to move and she saw a gleam of pain in his eyes. “Ugh… although I won’t be of much use today, I’m afraid, not until you release the Miraculous cure. My leg—” He cringed and she finally managed to wake up from her shock induced stupor. First thing she did was wrap him in a massive hug.
“You're okay!” she whispered in his ear, hugging him so tight he could hardly breathe.
He smiled softly in her embrace. “Yes, Buginette. I’m okay.”
“Thank God!” She started sobbing against his shoulder and he couldn’t do anything more than hug her tighter, while with one hand he was patting her hair in a soothing gesture. They held the hug for a long time, lulling in the reassuring feeling of each other’s breath, and each other’s warmth. Then, they heard loud bangs and crashes in the distance and broke the hug, as if waking up from a dream.
Chat Noir saw that Ladybug wanted to say something, but he put a finger to her mouth and shushed her. “We can talk later, Marinette. Now we need to take care of the akuma.” He tried to move his leg and winced. “Actually, you will have to take care of the akuma because… as I said, my leg needs your Miraculous Cure. Ouch.”
She sniffled and stroked his cheek, before nodding decisively. Then, her eyes got an amused gleam to them and she cupped her hands on each side of his face. “I will, minou. But there’s an even more urgent matter that needs to be addressed before I go.”
“What m—” he started to say, but he couldn’t finish, because his lips got suddenly busy kissing the lips of the girl he loved.

Loyal, Brave & True
Based heavily on the song “Loyal Brave True” from the new Disney Live-Action Movie  Mulan
This work is also posted to https://archiveofourown.org/works/26332522
Summary: When all is said and done, we all have the same question: am I enough?
It’s even harder when half of your life is behind a spotted mask
Disclaimer: All characters of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Chat Noir belong to Thomas Astruc and Jeremy Zag
🎵Who am I without my armor?
Standing in my father’s shoes
All I know is that it’s harder
To be loyal, brave, and true🎵
Loyal Brave True - Christina Aguilera
Marinette trudged up the stairs, the weight of the day heavy on her shoulders. She still couldn’t get over the fact that she had been expelled from school and reinstated all within the span of less than two days.
Standing in front of her full length mirror, she took in whom she perceived to be the slightly broken person that stood reflected before her. Her pallid complexion and the dark circles under her eyes revealing the heavy exhaustion pulling at her bones.
She was tired of keeping up the pretenses, of hiding behind her spotted armor, of the endless sleepless nights of being too stressed out by schoolwork and Lila’s threats and finding ways to stop Hawkmoth.
Of pretending that she was okay when she really wasn’t.
It just seemed like everyone believed every one of Lila’s lies! How could they believe that she threw that lying bitch down those stairs? That sneaky fox didn’t even try to pretend that she had hurt herself from her fall.
Where was the security footage? Why didn’t anyone insist on taking that Italian vixen to the nurse to get her checked over? Anyone with eyes could see that she was faking her injuries!
Looking past herself in the mirror, Marinette saw the pictures that she had tacked to the wall. Images of her with her parents, with the Girl Squad. With Alya and Nino.
With Adrien.
Feeling betrayed by those whom she thought had her back, she turned to her Kwami with tears in her eyes, desperate for validation. “Tikki?”
“Yes, Marinette?” The little red being asked from her spot on the desk, chocolate chip cookie in hand.
“Am I a good Ladybug?” The designer asked in a small voice.
“Oh, Marinette,” Tikki sighed, setting the cookie down. “Of course you’re a good Ladybug! You are one of my best wielders.”
“But am I, really? I mean, underneath the suit, without the spots... am I truly a good Ladybug?" Marinette asked pensively.
‘Oh,’ the Kwami thought, ‘this is one of those questions. She’s doubting herself again.’
"Marinette," she began, "how many times must I tell you this? There is no Ladybug without you." Tikki flew over to rest on her Chosen's shoulder. "There have been and there will be other holders of the Ladybug Miraculous," she continued in a contemplative voice, "but you are the only one who could be Ladybug. With and without the mask."
Suddenly a thump was heard on the balcony, and with a quick look conveying a mutual understanding that this conversation wasn’t finished, Tikki flew fast to hide in a desk drawer. Soon after, there was a knock heard on her skylight.
“Hello, Purrincess!” The cat themed hero greeted her as she let him in. “I wanted to check up on my favorite civilian. I heard that there was some excitement at your school recently?”
That show of kindness was the straw that broke the camel's back. The dam holding in her tears broke and Marinette collapsed, sobbing. With a startled “Whoa,” Chat Noir quickly caught her before she hit the ground, holding her tightly against him while trying to calm the crying girl in his arms.
When her sobs became hiccups, and her hiccups turned to sniffles, he was finally able to ask, “Princess, what happened?” with concern lacing his voice.
“It… it was awful Ch-chat N-noir. I... I was almost ak-kumatized yesterday,” she choked out.
“What?!” Chat exclaimed quietly, still holding the shaking girl in his embrace. Scooping her up carefully in a bridal hold, he settled them down comfortably on her chaise with her curled up tightly against him, her head tucked under his chin, similar to how his own mother would cradle him as a crying child. "Princess… Marinette, can you walk me through this? Please? I want to understand what happened.”
She slowly confided to him her worries. Well, almost all of them. The cat-themed hero growled low as he learned of the fake fox's promised threats, furious that Lila had the audacity to harm his cherished friend.
High-road be damned, no one hurts his Princess!
“And what really... made it worse… was that... everyone was writing my concerns off as … as jealousy,” Marinette choked out as her crying started back up. “I am NOT jealous of that … that … lying fox!”
Taking a deep breath to quell his rage, lest he become an Akuma himself, Chat gave
the dark-haired beauty in his arms a gentle squeeze to comfort her. "Losing is easy, winning takes bravery, and the kindest of whispers can seem cruel from those whom we consider our friends," he told her in a soft voice, kissing the top of her head to comfort her. Pulling back just a bit so that he could wipe away her tears with the back of his knuckles, careful not to scratch her with his claws, he stated, "You are one of the sweetest, kindest, and bravest people that I've ever known, Marinette."
"I don't feel very brave," she responded quietly with a pout, before burying her tear-stained face into his chest.
"But you are! You are so brave!" he cooed at her, gingerly running a clawed hand up and down her spine in an attempt to soothe. "Braver than I am, and I'm betting that you're even more brave than Ladybug."
That line earned him a snort.
Encouraged by that sound, Chat grinned as he continued to extoll her virtues. "I also have on very good authority that you are a very loyal and true friend. That is an extremely rare quality to have," he said as he gently pushed back her bangs, placing a feather-light kiss to her forehead.
Marinette shifted slightly in his hold, peeking up at him through her long, inky eyelashes. "Do you really think so?" she asked bashfully, a pink tinge highlighting the freckles that were scattered like stars across the bridge of her nose.
"I know so," he confirmed with a wry grin. "Didn't that Agreste kid call you an ‘Everyday Ladybug’ once?" he asked, his grin morphing into a smirk. "Trust me, there is no higher praise than that that I could think of."
'She really is adorable,' the errant thought swam across his stream of conscience.
His mind screeched to a halt.
‘Wait... what?’
After thinking it over for a moment, he came to the conclusion of ‘Well, it's true.’
The look of awe she gave him made him catch his breath. Her blue eyes seemed to grow larger, the color appearing to nearly glow. Her parted lips looked so soft too...
'Get a grip, Agreste!’ He admonished himself. ‘She’s your friend, and she’s hurting right now!'
He re-positioned her within his embrace, turning her until her back was against his chest, her head nestled against his left shoulder. He spied a black permanent marker within his reach and grabbed it, uncapping it with his teeth. Spitting out the cap, he reached for her right hand, softly asking, "May I?"
"What are you doing?" Marinette asked, placing it in his hand with trust in her gaze. Chat marveled at her bluebell stare for only a moment before returning his attention to the task at hand.
Nestling her delicate wrist within his large clawed hands like a treasured prize, he placed a soft kiss to the back of her knuckles, smiling fondly. "I just want to leave you a little reminder," he said as he turned the appendage, placing the marker's tip to the delicate skin of the inside of said wrist.
She struggled not to move, though she did flinch slightly at the cool feeling of the writing instrument’s ink against her skin. Her face burned slightly at the tenderness he was showing her, but that wasn’t what drew her attention.
It was the look on his face.
With his masked face twisted in concentration, the cat themed hero produced neat, careful hanzi on the designer's porcelain skin.
"There," he said with triumph and pride in his voice, drawing her attention to what he had been doing to begin with.
There, now decorating the once unmarked skin, were three simple but intricate Chinese characters
They were beautiful. And her silly, sweet, kind, destructive partner had put them there.
Chat Noir was indeed proud. It was his best try at the complicated writing system to date, so it only seemed fitting that it would look perfect against his friend’s gorgeous skin. "Now, whenever you feel down about everything you just told me about, I want you to look down at your wrist. For you are Loyal," he points at the first character, pausing for a moment before moving on to the next one. "Brave," he continued until he moved his clawed finger to the last of the three characters, "and True."
Tearing her gaze from the beautiful words now adorning her wrist, Marinette found herself drowning in gratitude and fondness for her partner. Turning her head slightly, she locked his peridot gaze with her azure, whispering, "Thank you, Chat Noir."
Feline eyes softened, and finding that his heart was beating just a tad harder for his dark haired friend, the boy beneath the mask replied just as quietly, "You're welcome, Marinette."
When it was time for him to leave, she followed him up to her balcony, bidding him goodnight. They shared one last hug before he leapt off of the balcony rail, performing some feat of aerial acrobatics to make her smile. Laughing at her partner’s antics, she leaned against the railing, taking in the balmy night air. Inhaling with the smile still on her face, she let her heart fill with gratitude once more to her partner. Letting out a long exhale, she found that her attention was once more drawn to the foreign words written along the inside of her wrist. She’d have to find a way to cover them up for tomorrow, but that was a problem for Future Marinette to worry about.
At this time, Tikki floated up out of hiding, making herself known to her holder before setting herself onto Marinette's shoulder. The Kwami took notice of the words now written on her chosen's appendage. "Well, that was a very nice thing that Chat Noir did for you, Marinette," she said approvingly.
"Yeah," Marinette replied, still staring down at the writing with a soft smile on her face. "It really... was..." she trailed off, the smile slowly slipping off of her face as she stared at her wrist more intently. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach as the actions of her partner finally registered. "Tikki?" she asked, her voice a little higher in pitch than normal.
"Yes, Marinette?" the kwami answered, confusion coloring her voice as she floated in front of her wielder’s face to gage her expression. She was surprised to see the beginnings of panic etching themselves onto the designer’s countenance. “Marinette, what’s wrong?” Tikki asked, worry coloring her tiny features.
On the verge of hyperventilating, Marinette looked up to her with eyes wide and asked, "Why did Chat Noir write those words on my wrist in Chinese?!"

A Somewhat Approximate Timeline for “The One to Make It Stay”
Please note I had to take extreme liberties trying to cram two seasons worth of episodes into the 2015-2016 French school year to even begin figuring out how the passage of time goes for this. Thankfully, it should be easier in the future to place, and I will add on more as need be.
EDIT: Now with more precise dates. Spoilers abound for everything up to the most recent chapters of “Radio” and “Paper Sky”.
EDIT 2 (11/18/19): Updated to include Alya’s POV and the first chapter of “All the Laughs”.
EDIT 3 (12/19/19): Will now have spoilers through “All the Laughs” and Adrien’s second Interlude.
EDIT 4 (2/16/20): Now contains spoilers for the first three chapters of “Bottle” as well as the second Alya interlude and Luka’s interlude.
EDIT 5 (4/4/20) Spoilers for the ending of Kagami’s mini arc (chapters 4 and 5 of “Bottle) along with the corresponding interludes.
EDIT 6 (5/16/20) Spoilers for everything up to the end of “Bottle”.
EDIT 7 (12/10/20): Spoilers for the first 15 chapters of “Horror Head” plus a small spoiler for Ch. 16. There is now a note to keep track of certain breaks during the 2016-2017 school year. Duusu’s interlude has been placed under “unsorted” since it’s backstory, although should be read during the beginning of “Horror Head”. Also, fixed an error (Marinette and Luka confront Felix, not Luka lol).

Luka agrees to help Marinette with figuring out Felix.
September 5, 2016: Student elections are coming up, but another sentimonster gets everyone’s attention. After a successful team-up, Marinette and Luka have a confrontation with Felix, which ends with them unsure of him. Marinette and Luka go and talk with Fu about Felix. Fu encourages Luka to open up to Marinette about how he’s feeling. He does.  Ladybug talks to Alya about the article she’s about to publish.

Thoughts of the Droid: Miraculous Ladybug Season 4 spoilers.
Hello, people of Tumblr! How have they fared in life? As always, I hope very well. People, a couple of days ago I learned about the existence of spoilers that reveal details of the fourth season of the Miraculous Ladybug series. Truth be told, these spoilers not only give me a bad feeling but also show in their entirety the creative problem that writers are going through, who, apparently, have run out of good ideas.
For example, we have that the characters of Kagami and Luka will be akumatized… AGAIN. What reasons will they have to be akumatized? And why precisely them, when basically there are other adolescents and even adult characters that we have not yet seen transformed into temporary villains? Not only that, but they also mention that it will finally be revealed which shipping will "win" in the future: whether Adrinette or Lukanette. Interesting detail, since at no time is Adrien and Kagami mentioned, giving you to understand that our favorite Japanese will end up losing. If you ask me, this “amazing” spoiler is everything, less amazing, for the simple reason that everyone in the fandom knew from the beginning that Marinette and Adrien are destined to be together.
But, most striking, for me, without a doubt is that they have announced a new character that will replace Chloé as Queen Bee. For those who have followed my blog and read some of my previous posts, it is no longer a secret that Chloé is one of my favorite characters in the series. So you can imagine my feeling when I hear this news. Basically, it felt like a good blow to the testicles (sorry for the expression).
It bothers me, yes, but more than anything I feel disappointed and ripped off with this change.
Why?
Well, I have the whole reasoning behind and this is where I will expand as much as I can.
First, the leaked video, even if they don't show an image, we have a lady (who I imagine is an animator or screenwriter ... or both) who describes the new Queen Bee as "She is sweet, she is not mean."
Who told you to say that line? Thomas Astruc!?
Returning to the topic, this is where I wonder: Is it really a mandatory requirement that the superheroes of this series are all sweet, kind and faultless people? (The latter is in doubt, seeing past chapters) Apparently yes, since people dislike superheroes who are dark vigilantes (Batman) or antiheroes who fight evil under their very dubious moral and ethical code, almost nonexistent (Venom, Spawn).
Oh, wait, those characters I just mentioned are popular, they have been since their beginnings and even though decades have passed, they are still very dear characters in popular culture.
With Chloé we had a bratty superheroine, pretentious and at all times she kept showing off and having a very high ego ... but still, she was a superheroine who was really able to risk her life for a common good. In addition, her personality made the dynamics of the team more interesting and entertaining. On the one hand, we had a Chloé who wanted to be a superheroine because of the emotion that it entailed. She sought to be a heroine for the attention and fame she obtained. Obviously, those two points are not commendable reasons to be a superhero, but these were eclipsed because more than anything Chloé sought to be a heroine to help Ladybug and feel useful, making a difference in the world for good. And now, with this new sweet girl, this dynamic will be forgotten.
Second, the spoilers mention that there will be more "secret siblings." That being the case, there is a possibility (remote but after all) that the new Queen Bee is a sister or cousin of Chloé. Here I will be honest and I differ with the majority of opinions I've seen about it: I would like the new Queen Bee to be Chloé's sister. It is one of the few ways I would accept, almost without questioning or protesting, this new heroine. The other way I would accept this new character is to not share any biological trait with Chloé, but to get to interact at a very personal level and, above all, to interact in a very good way, that is, despite their disparate personalities, get along very well and even be friends. Why not risk presenting this interesting scenario?
Right, the writers of the series do not like to take risks.
Third, the spoilers mention that Chloé will be akumatized… AGAIN. Which proves what I said above paragraphs: Writers are running out of ideas. If you ask me, it is already tiresome to see the same characters being akumatized over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Of course, they change the reason why they are akumatized and the name and design change, but that does not help to make it more interesting, to the contrary, it creates the problem that the characters do not grow emotionally and with that, there is no real development of their characters.
Bitterness aside, I'm really intrigued to know the reason why Chloé will be akumatized again. And even more so if it will be a different fourth Akuma or one of its three previous forms will return. One part of me wants her fourth akumatization obeys the reason to be replaced by a new heroine. If you ask me, it would be a good reason.
Fourth and most important to me: Replacing Chloé with a new heroine will cause the little development she has had to be thrown away. Those who are fans like me of the character, will not let me lie and it has been frustrating and a disappointment after another to see a chapter where Chloé is shown more deeply, after another chapter to see how it is again an unpleasant brat.
I am going to tell you a little story and in the end, you will understand the reason for my disgust.
You see, I saw the Miraculous Ladybug series, back in 2017, about two years after its premiere in 2015. Don't believe it or not, the first season caught me the moment I saw that series. What I did was to see one chapter per day and when I finished watching it, it left me wanting more. To follow the story and its characters. As you may have guessed, Some of the chapters where they showed a little more of Chloé, made this character catch my attention and gradually become my favorite character. You cannot imagine my emotion when in those years they had confirmed that Chloé would have the Bee Miraculous and that she would be a superheroine named Queen Bee. Seeing the great results they had achieved with the first season, I assumed that in the second season I would see much more of Chloé and her training as a heroine. Which translated into more development.
Also by that time they had announced a special three chapters, "The Battle of the Queens" and whose chapters would be centered in Chloé. Imagine: more expectations were raised since it seemed to me that in three chapters they would develop Chloé better and that at the end of that special she would begin her arduous but satisfying journey to become a more dignified person and a trusted heroine. I am sincere, when I heard about this special, I did not want to see any other chapter, but only those three.
Finally, the day came when these special chapters were released.
You don't know a huge disappointment that I took away.
Wait about two years for a special that was disastrous from start to finish.
Do not misunderstand me, if there are extremely rescued scenes and moments, but they are very overshadowed by the mishandling they gave to those three episodes and something tells me that they did so on purpose to further sink the development of my favorite character.
The point is that, in my opinion, writers cannot or rather do not want to give the character an authentic redemption and development. And in fact, having this new Queen Bee has proved it that way. What bothers me most about this issue is that they are going to develop this new character, instead of giving it to Chloé. And this is where I wonder. And wouldn't it have been better to have the new character from the beginning be Queen Bee? Why did they give Chloé that opportunity, if, in the end, they weren't going to do anything significant with my favorite blonde? Why create those expectations if in the end all they do is destroy them in this outrageous way?
What was the use of seeing a Chloé feeling deep sadness and disappointment to see that her childhood friend did not arrive at school? What was the use of seeing a furious Chloé and then in bitter tears when her idol, Ladybug, told her she was a liar? What was the use of seeing a sincere smile emanating from her when she made peace with her friend Sabrina? What was the use of seeing a Chloé with fear of losing Adrien's friendship? What was the use of seeing how butler Jean comforted and encouraged Chloé? What was the use of seeing a Chloé crying bitterly when she learned that Adrien was no longer going to school? What was the use of seeing a Chloé, on the verge of tears when her mother did not consider her exceptional or even her daughter? What was the use of seeing a Chloé open her heart and feelings to Ladybug? What was the use of seeing a Chloé, fighting beside Ladybug? What was the use of seeing her as Queen Bee?
Just to give me false hopes and that in the end, all that development so little, but so genuine will end everything in the trash.
Maybe I am being a bit rude. Perhaps this new Queen Bee is a hoax, as it was years ago the supposed existence of Amber. Maybe it's just to distract us. Maybe now if they give her the development that Chloé needs. Maybe so. I want to believe it. I really want to believe it ...
But I don't have many expectations after this spoilers.
Moreover, I do not make expectations so high and hopeful, for the simple fact that lately, the series has left much to be desired with this third season.
If basically the writers give Marinette a vexatious and humiliating treatment, to the sweet Marinette, to Marinette who is “our everyday Ladybug”, to Marinette who has always shown to possess a pure and kind heart, to Marinette, a character so laudable that we need this way in our real world, to the character that Astruc insists on that you must support and not Chloé….
So what's left for me as a fan of Chloé Bourgeois?
This is all I have to say about it. Of course, when all these chapters that have announced the fourth season comes out, rest assured that I will make the respective reviews. In spite of everything, I will continue to stay with the series for a while, especially for the good times that the fandom has provided me and will continue to do.
With this, I feel that I have finally relieved myself.
Thank you for reading.
Greetings

Why We all Love Marichat
Hi friends and welcome to my first meta on this blog. I’ve posted others on my main @thelittlepalmtree so if you followed me for my hot takes about Lukanette and Chloe, I’m pretty much putting all my Ladyblogging over here, so unless you also love the other miscellany on my main, I’d unfollow there and follow this blog instead :)
Anyway, here’s my take on Marichat, and why we all love it, under the cut!
I don’t have a source on this because I’m a bad person, but I remember back around season 2 time reading that Thomas Astruc said that when Marinette is Ladybug, that’s her performing, not being herself. And when Adrien is “Adrien Agreste” he’s performing, not being himself. Marinette when she’s being Marinette is her authentic self, she’s not putting on airs or trying to be strong for the sake of the city. Meanwhile when Adrien gets to be chat Noir he’s able to be himself because he doesn’t have to worry about damaging his father’s reputation with everything he does.
And to me this is profoundly true in the show. I’m not saying that Marinette doesn’t have all the wonderful qualities of Ladybug, or that Chat Noir isn’t capable of being suave and professional the way Adrien is, I’m just saying that the forms of Marinette and Chat Noir reveal their flaws, and their human traits a bit more clearly. I think this is really important to the show, because it kind of explains why Adrien/CN worships Ladybug so much and why Marinette/LB worships Adrien so much. They don’t see each other as people, they see them as these super cool, larger than life, perfect love interests.
And hey, who hasn’t done that? Right? I know for some of the people I’ve crushed on, I’ve often said things like “you’re perfect” or “you’re an angel.” And honestly that’s a perfectly fine thing to start a relationship on if you’re just getting to know someone. The thing is, both Adrien/CH and Marinette/LB have consciously decided that they do not like each other in their more relaxed forms.
I would say, what I love about this show is less the content and more the fandom. The creations in this fandom are honestly better than any canon could be. And I say this as a huge celebration, I would even say that (in my experience) the people in this fandom are some of the nicest I’ve ever interacted with and I’ve been in a lot of fandoms. Putting all that aside, however, There’s a huge trend towards Marichat (not that I’m complaining) and I think when we look at it through this lens it’s obvious why. When Marinette is being Marinette and Chat Noir is being Chat Noir they’re being their authentic selves and the idea that they’d form a relationship in these personas would mean they are finally accepting each other for those authentic selves.
To put it another way, imagine that in the next episode we did a big identities reveal. I think a lot of us take it for granted that Adrien and Marinette would be like “omg you were my crush all along” but at the point they’re at now, that would be pretty weird. Because in the series so far Marinette has evaluated chat noir as a boyfriend and firmly rejected him, saying they’re just friends. Everything she likes about Adrien is more or less not present when he’s Chat Noir. And the same thing with Adrien and Marinette (though Marinette frequently turns on the Ladybug when she’s Marinette and those are the only times when Adrien clearly gets the feels for her). So would they really be happy to just get together? I mean maybe, but I think if these were real people, they’d actually be sort of disappointed that the person they’d built up to be so perfect was actually quite human.
And I’m not saying that this is bad, in fact, I think it’s something that young people do a lot when they’re first falling in love. I think it’s a testament to the show that they captured the way teenagers develop crushes. But I think it’s important that we get more episodes like “Weredad” where Marinette and Chat Noir interact. It’s really important that they start to see those authentic personas as viable romantic options. I also think there’s a lot of ways to develop Marinette and Adrien’s understanding of how relationships work. They could develop DJWifi a little more to be a model for a future Marinette/Adrien couple (it could be as simple as Alya explaining that she thought Nino was a total idiot at first but then she slowly started to like that part of him). They could enter other relationships and gain some experience (not that those relationships couldn’t be wonderful and loving but sometimes people break up even in good relationships). They could even just get to know each other better, for example an episode like Evillustrator where Marinette has to work with Chat Noir a bit more would be so great in developing this bond.
I think what needs to stop is the awkward situations where Adrien insists he and Marinette are “just friends” and is blind as hell when it comes to her feelings. It would be much better to show that he’s willfully ignorant because if things get complicated with Marinette he won’t know how to keep her as a friend, (something like “please...don’t say she likes me...Marinette is my best friend and I need her.” okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic). We need to stop having Marinette and all her friends conspiring for her to get a chance to “share her feelings” only for her to chicken out at the end. We need Chat Noir to get a few more “Adrien” moments, maybe when he has screaming fans or flexes his modeling skills. Think of “Riposte”, when Chat Noir could have shown off his fencing skills but instead spent most of the episode as Adrien. The boy speaks Chinese, Plays Piano, and Fences, we could show it off a little more with Chat Noir. Adrien is also pretty good (in my opinion) at deescalating situations (something emotionally abused children like myself and Adrien learn early), literally all of these Akumatized characters could use some deescalation can we not work that in?
And honestly, what makes a Marichat fic good? It’s the fact that Marinette start’s laughing at Chat Noir’s jokes, and Chat start’s finding her spazzing out and nerdiness adorable. It’s the sweet moments that aren’t manufactured but come from the fact that the two genuinely like each other for who they are. We all want someone to let our guard down with, and Marichat provides just that.

The Great illusions
(This is a short practice snippet of an AU in the Miraculous Ladybug universe. Nothing is really all that different except Master Fu is the one to consistently choose who gets which miraculous and they stay with them. Secret identities are universally maintained. To quickly summarize. Alya is wondering why she, an honest and forthright person; whose passion for truth has set her on a oneway track to becoming a journalist, was granted the power of what essentially amounts to lying. Heavily inspired by a certain scene in Terry Pratchett’s “Hogfather”.)
I DO NOT OWN OR IN ANY WAY LAY CLAIM TO MIRACULOUS: TALES OF LADYBUG AND CHAT NOIR. ALL CHARACTERS FALL UNDER THOMAS ASTRUC AND ASSOCIATES. THIS IS A WORK OF FANFICTION FALLING UNDER THE LAWS OF FAIR USE AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR ANY KIND OF PROFIT.)
Alya, heaved a heavy sigh as she read the latest comment asking for more details and analysis on a certain fox themed superhero who had helped in the latest akuma attack. Once again, she replied with, that despite the ladyblogs best efforts, Rena Rouge was as wily and elusive as her namesake and thus she could offer little in terms of illumination. She quickly deflected any more prodding by posting more pictures of the heroes in action, even that annoying turtle boy. These days, she had shifted her ladyblogs focus from exposing the heroes’ identities, to posting the action, the fact she had a front row seat didn’t hurt when it came to describing details. When pressed for reasons she just said that she had started to respect their secrets and didn’t want to impede them any further, which most took at face value. She couldn’t justify her truth crusade if it meant her secret had to stay secret. But telling her fans this was just one more lie she had to shoulder.
If anything, continuing her ladyblog and never mentioning that she had a camouflaged camera drone follow her and her cohorts; was a huge help in maintaining her secret identity. The very thing she had tried to unveil from Ladybug for months before the package with her camera drone had come with hexagonal black box that would rock her world at its foundation. Her childhood dream and adolescent hopes had become true in a way she had never dared believe. Being a superhero, working with her idol and other like her, she wouldn’t trade it for anything. Except, as the case was, her ideals. Finishing her posts Alya held her head in her hands, her monitor displaying a close-up of Rena Rouge smiling at the camera. Her reflection aligned perfectly with the image, except, the one in the mask was happy having the time of her life, the one behind it was starting to doubt why heroes should ever need to wear masks.
“You look like you have your tail in a trap.” Alya jumped. She had been so lost in thought, that the mischievous voice above her head had shaken her from stupor rather suddenly.
Her malaise of doubt turned surprised bemusement quickly turned into a slight giggle as she looked up seeing the adorable vulpine kwami floating above happily snacking on a cherry.
“You’d think I’d be used to you sneaking up on me like that by now.” She said rotating her chair to get a better look at him. Her? Did primordial embodiments of abstract concepts have genders?
“Please, Kit. I’ve been doing surprises since before the earth was cosmic dust.” He said smugly gulping down a cherry and spitting the seed in her trash bin. Her unprecedented love for cherries had been one of the easier lies to tell her family, if only cause Trixx looked absolutely adorable when eating them. “Seriously though; something is clearly bothering you kit, and I’m guessing it has something to do with me.”
It was a statement not an accusation, and Alya was experienced enough in deduction to know how he had arrived at that conclusion, her monitor still portraying her heroic persona. “It’s not you Trixx. It’s just…” She paused. “Being a hero is a lifelong dream for me, and I love you, amongst other things, for making it come true. What’s bothering me is the lies. I always knew heroes had their secrets, but I never knew it was gonna be this hard keeping them.”
“You’re doing well so far I’d say.” Trixx said nodding to the monitor with her comments deflecting the probes and her drone posing as the real reporter.
“That’s not what I meant.” She replied.
After a moment, Trixx replied with. “Ah, so it’s the act itself that’s eating you?”
Alya just nodded.
“You know why you need to lie. Your friends, your sisters, your parents; all of them can be used against you if everyone knew who you were behind the mask.”
“Yeah. I get that. What I don’t get, is why I got the power of lying in addition to having to maintain lies. I mean look at Ladybug and Chat noir. One of them can make everything right, and the other can destroy everything bad. Even Shelly is a protector obnoxious as he is. I just can’t help but thinking about Lila, you know the girl I told you about who Hawkmoth gave a knockoff of your powers to? She lied constantly and nobody whom she contacted was happy afterwards. The way I see it, lying and illusions just hurt people in the end.” She ended her tirade with huff slumping in her chair.
Trixx had sympathetic look on him and just floated down to her side rubbing her cheek. “You’ve done good things with them though. Like when you saved your akumatized sisters or that time your boyfriend was about to be eaten and your illusory doppelgangers of him confused that monster?”
She smiled to herself. She had done that. Even if Nino had been less than grateful to her for it. One of the very few points of friction between them was that he did not like Rena Rouge and she did not like Carapace. Whom, for reasons she could not for the life of her fathom, he deeply admired. Alongside LB and CH of course.
“Yeah. Still leading people away from the truth always seems to go wrong. If they are lead to believe the wrong things it just ends up hurting them and benefitting those that maintain them.”
Trixx floated away and up to the ceiling and asked, “Then why do you tell your sisters that the tooth fairy comes to give them money for their lost teeth, when you and your sister do it each night they put them under their pillow?”
Alya looked up at that. “Well, that’s…” She stammered. “…different. They’re just kids, all they need now is that they are safe and that there is some magic out there. Not including Miraculous’. Besides they’re smart, so like me and my big sis, they’ll realize one day that it was just a story we used to make them happy.” She quickly added. “Heck, it helped me want to find out the truths everybody tried to hide.”
He turned around and pointed at her in an ‘AHA’ pose. “My point exactly! Not all illusions can be hurtful and without realizing it you are telling them the lesser illusions, so they have the practice necessary to believe in the great illusions!”
“The great illusions?” She asked puzzled.
“Yep” he said with an air of self-importance. “Justice, duty, beauty those kinds of things.”
“Wait, those aren’t the same at all!” she objected
“You think so? Then take the universe and examine it with the strongest lens you know off and then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy or even one boson of beauty! And yet, you BELIEVE that those things exist in the very fundamentals of this existence and that all of it may be judged via that tinted lens.” Trixx darted around in great arcs as he spoke but ended his final statement right in front of her face.
“But if we don’t believe that, what else is there?”
“Just the things you can perceive.” Alya’s face dropped a tad as the weight of Trixx’s words hit her. “If you don’t believe in things that aren’t real, how else can they become?”
Alya was quiet, not quite able to process what Trixx had told her. He’d know better than anyone, but were all the things she believed built on a lie others had told her? She had never considered it, and now that she did with her discerning reporter’s ambition, she did not like the conclusions she saw.
Trixx air of importance vanished, replaced by sympathy as he floated to her cheek and hugged it as best as his miniscule frame could managed. She smiled a genuine smile as she scratched the top of his head. The, literally, tiny gesture had a colossal impact. Not unlike how she hugged away the nightmares her little sisters sometimes woke from, she mused.
After a while Trixx floated back and with his own genuine smile said; “Look ki- Alya, like any power in the universe, illusions may be used to hurt others as much as they may be used to help them. Creation may overwhelm other entities and destruction does not discriminate between good and bad. It doesn’t so much matter what the power is, as what you do with it. And going along with one or more of the great illusions does not make you a liar. It makes you someone who wants to do good in the world and make what is essentially one massive lie reality. And I know that you know that that is a good thing.”
Alya pulled him back into a cheek hug which he happily returned.
“Thanks Trixx.” She said. Then with a teasing lilt. She said, “I’d still like a kwami of truth though.”
Picking up on her less than serious tone, his reply was the opposite in its earnesty. “Well, I wouldn’t trade you for any human in the world.”
(This was an idea I had after watching a subpar filmatization of an otherwise great author’s works. I wanted to practice my writing and thought this was a good place to start. I’d appreciate any constructive criticism and hope you all have a miraculous day!)

Chameleon: Paving the Way to the Truth- Ch 02
Hey guys! So, I’ve decided to continue as I have so many ideas on how to expose Lila, and other subplots and characterization I could play with as I go along. Also, you guys have been asking for me to continue, and I would be lying if I said that didn’t motivate me.
SO thank you so much. <3
Also, I’m trying to experiment with switching POVs a bit more often to make the chapters a bit longer (like I said, I take more of a direct approach), and wanted to know what you guys think!
Anyways, hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: Miraculous Ladybug belongs to Thomas Astruc and the ZAG team.
SEASON THREE SPOILERS DUDES
P.S. At the time I’m writing this, I’m only on the first scene with Lila and I’m already so done with her. (That’s why it’s so short)
P.P.S. Petty Adrien makes an appearance and for once, it’s not because of Ladybug!
First    Fanfic   Next
The loud ringing of the bell caused Adrien and Marinette to pull apart from their trance. Marinette shot upwards and almost tripped herself running to the door.
“Come on, Adrien! We’re going to be late!”
Adrien chuckled and followed her lead into the courtyard outside. Students were rushing towards their classes on the upper floors, and the volume had decreased as conversations came to a close. The only consistent chatter that could be heard at this point was from Lila on the bench who was bragging to Rose and Juleka. The short blonde seemed to hang onto her every word, gasping in awe at exactly the right moments.
Adrien frowned and headed towards them. How could Lila act so innocent after what she did to Marinette?
He turned around when he felt a light tug on his arm. Marinette sent him a questioning glance.
Adrien smiled and said, “Remember when I said I’d try to reason with her?”
“Yeah. But now?” Marinette scrunched her eyebrows. “I didn’t think you’d do it so soon.”
Adrien gripped Marinette’s hand into his and squeezed it. “If I can reason with her now, she might not go through with threatening you later.”
Marinette frowned. “You don’t have to fight my battles for me, Adrien.”
“We’re a team now, right?” Adrien smiled. “And I don’t want to fight your battles for you, I want to battle them with you.”
Marinette sighed resignedly. “I’m coming with you, then. Maybe not actually be there, but near enough that I can intervene if needed.”
Adrien frowned. “You don’t trust me?”
“What?!” Marinette’s eyes widened into saucers as her arms flailed around. “No! I do trust you, I just don’t trust her. I just want to be there in case she threatens you or something.”
Adrien smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder. “I’ll be okay. Maybe you should go to the class and try explaining to them your side of the story?”
“Yeah, I guess.” Her blue eyes wandered off to the side in thought. “It would be nice to make peace with them.” Her shoulders dropped as she pondered and she sighed heavily. “I don’t want to apologize for something that’s not my fault though.”
Adrien took a hold of her other shoulder and gave her a reassuring squeeze.  “You don’t have to. We rearranged the seats without asking you. I know I’ve only been here for a year but our class is super nice and will definitely the time to listen to you, Marinette!”
Marinette gave him a small smile. Adrien hoped that meant that she believed that too. “Well, I guess you seem like you have everything under control with Lila. I’ll take your advice this time.” She took a deep breath before heading for class. Adrien watched her go before refocusing his attentions on Lila, who was now waving goodbye to Rose and Juleka. She stood up and headed for the stairs.
This was Adrien’s chance.
“Hey, Lila!” Adrien greeted as he approached her. Lila’s eyes narrowed before returning his greeting in a sickly sweet voice.
“Adrien! I haven’t seen you since this morning!”
Did she mean the same morning she kissed him as an akuma and made him faint to get his and Ladybug’s miraculous? After he tried to make peace with her? Adrien tried his best not to scoff, but to quote Chloe, this was utterly ridiculous.
“Yeah,” he said and rubbed the back of his neck. “About that, I was just talking to Marinette and-.”
Lila gasped and held her hands to her chest. “Oh, is she okay? The last time I saw her she was in the washroom and the poor girl seemed so angry! I don’t understand why she hates me so much!” Lila looked away from him and hid her eyes behind her bangs, her lips curled into a pout.
“It’s because she knows that you’re lying, Lila,” Adrien states. “And she also told me that you threatened her in that bathroom when you found her.”
Lila gasped and stepped back. “Me? I would never! If anything she’s the one threatening me!”
Adrien observed her stance. Her right arm was clenched in a fist beside her, and her left hand rested lightly on her chest. A defensive stance that was similar to the one Chloe or her mother used all the time.
“Lila. I know that you’re lying. And I know that you told Marinette that you would keep her away from her friends, Lila. That isn’t okay! I told you that you would turn everyone against you if you kept lying, but you’ll do so much worse than that if you harm the people who are trying to stop you!”
Adrien’s voice had risen into a shout and the few students that were still passing by turned to look at them. Adrien maintained his stance against their stares, but it seemed like this was the type of attention Lila didn’t want. She roughly grabbed his wrist and dragged him into an empty classroom nearby.
“Hey!”
Lila practically threw him inside and slammed the door shut. When she turned back to him, her snarl had deepened, and she stomped towards him, and shoved a finger on his chest.
“Look, I don’t know exactly what Marinette’s been telling you, but I told you that I don’t need you to lecture me like Ladybug did. For the record, I only told Marinette that if she told the class that I was lying, she’d end up being alone. I mean, obviously, they aren’t going to believe her over me.”
Hot anger bubbled within Adrien and he narrowed his eyes; he recognized Lila’s diction and how it twisted the events to make it look like she had been the victim. Fortunately, he knew who he could trust.
“They only believe you because you’re lying to them. But one day, your lies are going to become too much for even you to handle. And who do you think they’re going to believe then?”
Adrien pushed Lila’s hand from his chest and stared at Lila, his expression mirroring his father’s: cold and unyielding. Then he turned away from her and walked past. Before he could reach for the doorknob, she declared,
“You know Marinette likes you, right? That’s why she’s so angry at me. I have the seat she wants.”
Adrien froze for a second before grasping the doorknob and opening the door wide open.
“Yeah, I know.” He said. “But we both know that isn’t the real reason, Lila. And I recommend you don’t threaten my friends in the future. Otherwise, I might just drop a hint about our last outing.”
He shut the door before she could say anything more. His heart was pounding from the interaction. He had never been too confrontational, preferring to be sneaky or passive as possible. Being aggressive had always been Chloe’s job. He stayed in the shadows and did his own thing from there, or let other people lead him in the spotlight, like his father does. That was a rare occurrence, and that was the first time that he couldn’t see a peaceful outcome from it. He had meant to give her an ultimatum, a bargain, a means to an end. Yet, he had threatened her.
Adrien took deep breaths to calm his beating heart, to keep his mind clear and free from anger. He could feel Plagg shifting in his inner pocket. It took barely a few seconds before he was making his way to class. As he made his way to class, he didn’t notice Alya crouched underneath the staircases and had seen everything that had happened before Lila had dragged Adrien inside the classroom.
Judging from Lila’s loud, echoming stomps, whatever happened in that room was not a happy event.
As Adrien confronted Lila, Marinette had her own issue to face: her classmates. She felt a little better knowing that LIla wouldn’t be there seeing that Adrien was currently with her, but what if they were still mad at her? What if she couldn’t convince them that she was just trying to expose the truth? Oh my god, what if they started to hate her so much they left her alone in the back seat without talking to her, without even acknowledging her and she spent the rest of her school years alone and unwanted. And what if they hated her so much they told everyone else to not support her upcoming as a fashion designer so she could never  achieve her dream and definitely end up with Adrien because why would Adrien want to be with a useless loser with no point in life, and everything could fall apart from this one moment!
Marinette halted outside the classroom door, hesitations whirling in and out of her head like a mini tornado. Feeling her chosen’s anxiety through waves, Tikki peeked her head out of her purse and whispered few comforts to her.
“It’s going to be okay, Marinette. You’re strong, you’re proud, you’re Marinette!”
“Right!” Marinette whispered back with forced enthusiasm.
“You’re Ladybug!”
“Of course!” Marinette whispered, more firmly this time.
“You always find a solution, Marinette!”
“Right! I’m Marinette Dupain-Cheng!” she cried, and pried open the door to her classroom, where half the class was already in their seats.
It felt like everyone had glued their eyes to watch her the moment she stepped into the room. Her hands were flushing, her breathing was more erratic, and was that pounding from her chest or her head? Both? She couldn’t tell as she made her way to the front of the classroom and stood, facing all of her classmates. She scanned their faces, and her shoulders drooped when she realized Nino was sitting by himself; no Alya in sighed. She scrunched her nose in frustration; when she truly needed her, she wasn’t there.
Her anxiety worsened when Chloe put her hands together for a slow clap.
“Well, well, Dupain-Cheng. I didn’t think you had it in you,” she said, her smirk widening with every word.
“What do you mean?” Marinette asked slowly, trying to keep her voice levelled.
Chloe stood up and sat on her desk with her right leg crossed over her left. “I mean, you told Lila off today for sitting besides Adri-kins!”
“It wasn’t because she was sitting besides Adrien, it was because I was forced to sit in the back alone, Chloe. Besides, how are you, of all people, so calm about this?”
“Hmm?” Chloe flicked her ponytail over her shoulder. “I’m not. I’m furious, actually, but unlike some people,” she narrowed her icy blue eyes at her, “I’m trying to be a better person now that I’m a hero.”
“Congratulations,” she said drily. She didn’t want to feel salty for Chloe finally getting a heart, really, but talk about bad timing.
“Speaking of,” Alix spoke up. “What’s your deal, Marinette? It’s just a seat.”
Marinette bit her lip, trying to remind herself that her classmates had all fallen for Lila’s lies; she couldn’t do anything without definitive proof.
She took a deep breath and explained, “I got really mad when everyone moved seats but didn’t bother asking me what I thought.”
Rose furrowed her eyebrows and spoke up. “Well, you were late again, and we thought that you wouldn’t mind. Especially since it was because Lila can’t hear very well.”
Marinette clenched her fists at her side and squared her shoulders. Her jaw tightened. “I still would have liked to have been asked. I’ve been sitting in that seat for years now. You all know how much I wanted to be in the seat since the beginning of the year even before Adrien came here.” She shifted her gaze to Chloe, who looked away and refused to look her in the eyes.
Max piped up, “There was a ninety percent chance that you would have said yes anyway, so we thought that you wouldn’t have minded.”
Marinette scoffed. “Maybe so, but that was if you had asked me. Did you? Did you consider my feelings at all? I get accommodating for a student with special needs, but to move me in the back? Alone? But everyone else gets to sit with their friends or their partners even though it has nothing to do with Lila and her needs?” Marinette stared as she watched most of them turn their gazes towards their seat mates, to her, then the floor.
Marinette continued, feeling tears well up in her eyes again. “It wasn’t about the seat guys. It was about my consent. It was about how I thought you guys cared about what I thought too, but it looks like I was wrong. It’s like before this year again. It’s like I was alone and you let me be alone.” Oh my god, she was crying again. She needed to stop. What was she doing? This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not like this.
“What does that have to do with you saying Lila’s a liar though? You can’t tell us that has nothing to do with Adrien,” Sabrina declared.
Marinette pressed her lips together. How was she going to reveal her suspicions without revealing her identity as Ladybug? How was she going to get herself out of this mess? Marinette clenched her fists even tighter, to the point her nails were definitely making marks on her palms.
“I,” she gulped, and lowered her head. She didn’t want to lie to them, especially not when she was exposing a liar. “I just get a bad feeling from her, alright? You guys already know I tried to see if her stories were true and couldn’t find anything. Alright?”
“So, it’s just you being paranoid as usual?” Alix asked, a teasing lilt to her voice. She gulped and tried not to feel betrayed by that. Was that how they saw her? Hyperactive and paranoid?
“Sure, whatever.”
The class was silent for a minute, but she could imagine them glancing at one another, trying to verify if she was telling the truth. Marinette tried to comfort herself: she was their class president, she helped them loads of times, she had had fun times with them all through the year. They would believe her, apologize to her for making her feel horrible, right?
Yet, she couldn’t help feeling like a convict in front of a jury, waiting endlessly for their judgement, her sentence.
She knew she wouldn’t be getting her seat back, no chance of that. But, maybe, they understood?
Marinette watched through her bangs; Rose watched her, her blue eyes filled with pity as she whispered to Juleka. Max analyzed her as if she was an equation. Kim frowned, but his body was slouched towards her. Ivan was stony, but Mylene betrayed all of her emotions; pity, sympathy, guilt, maybe? In fact, most of her classmates portrayed varying degrees of guilt; slouched postures, wandering eyes, knitted eyebrows and slight frowns that marred their features. Marinette scuffled her feet. This was getting nowhere.
“Look, guys-” She started but was interrupted by Rose.
“Sorry we didn’t think when we put you in the back Marinette.”
Her classmates chimed in agreement, almost everyone talking over one another:
“I may have miscalculated considering I didn’t take into factor that you were not here to agree to it.”
“Yeah, I guess you would be pretty upset since you had to get that seat back from Chloe.”
“Sorry, Marinette. You can sit with us if you want!”
“Yeah, sorry about not listening to you earlier.”
“Sorry, we should have figured it wasn’t all because of Adrien.”
“It’s utterly ridiculous that you’re so worked up over what’s-her-face.”
“She means sorry.”
Marinette’s glistened with tears as she smiled widely in relief. The clamor of apologies came to a pause as they watched her reaction. A weight lifted from her chest.
They had believed her.
They had apologized.
Sure, they still believed Lila was telling the truth, but they hadn’t completely left her, and she didn’t think any of them actually hated her. It took all her strength to not collapse in a heap, from relief, from stress, she didn’t know.
Whatever it was, she knew, she fully believed, that there was no way Lila would turn them all against her; not completely. After what felt like a long time, she felt hope.
Once the apologies died down, Marinette was beaming towards the class, who gave her small smiles back.
“Thank you guys. So much. For listening to me.” Marinette couldn’t help it; she felt like she was going to burst.
Alix smirked. “Of course! I mean we all make mistakes right? We should have listened to you first!”
Nathaniel piped in. “Yeah, and we know you’re good-willed, Marinette.”
Mylene added, “You’re always trying to help us,”
“Or include us,” Juleka stated.
“There’s literally a zero-point-zero-zero-zero-zero-one percent chance of us not listening to you.” Max declared. “And I am one-hundred percent certain that I have calculated accurately this time.”
“Thank you,” Marinette repeated. An awkward silence settled over the class a few seconds after.
“So,” Ivan spoke up, “Do you want your seat back or…?”
Marinette shook her head. “No. It’s okay. Nino and Alya should be able to keep their seats. I was just upset that no one had asked me first.”
“Well, we’ll ask you next time, then.” Kim said. “I’d be upset if someone stole my spot on the team and this is kind of like that, right?”
“Very good simile, Kim.” Max intervened.
“A simi-what?”
Marinette giggled. She had a brighter perspective on what was going to happen now. Her classmates were still her friends (although she would have to talk to Alya and Nino later), Adrien had agreed to help expose the truth, and Lila didn’t seem at all that scary anymore. As she climbed up the steps to her new spot, it seemed less lonely. Juleka and Rose shot her smiles from across the room. She cheerily waved to them in response. Then, she took out her notebook and began to sketch out figures and clothes she would design.
The class stayed like this until Mme Bustier walked in. Then Adrien, followed by Alya and Nino, and finally Lila.
When Adrien had walked in, he first sought Marinette, who was contentedly scribbling away in her sketchbook. He smiled and relaxed his shoulders. At least she was happy. Adrien watched her pink lips quirk up one side, her tongue poking out as her nose scrunched up in thought. Bluebell eyes shimmered with new ideas that popped in her head as she raced to get it all done on her paper. The sunlight streaming in through the window beside her highlighted her dark, silky hair and creamy skin. He watched as she squealed at a new idea, and with renewed vigour, turned to a fresh page and began scribbling again.
He let out a small gasp.
Adrien never realized how enchanting Marinette actually was.
His heart skipped yet another beat, and he remembered her warm knuckles pressed against his.
He was snapped out of his trance when Nino called out his name and slung an arm around his shoulder.
“Hey, dude. Want to sit next to me again?”
Adrien turned to face Nino. “Of course! But what about Alya?”
Nino nodded his chin towards Marinette. Adrien turned to see Alya approaching Marinette and taking the seat beside hers.
“Alya wanted to apologize. And sit beside her bff again.”
Adrien smiled. “I’m glad then. Let’s go.”
After all, Adrien could always talk to her later.
Marinette was so immersed into her sketches, she didn’t realize Alya had sat beside her until she had whispered her name into her ear. She jumped up and turned towards Alya, who gave her a bittersweet smile.
“Alya.”
“Hey, girl. I guess you an apology, huh?”
Marinette merely stared at her.
Alya sighed, and shifted in her seat to fully face Marinette. “Look, I’m sorry. For everything. I should have asked you if you wanted to change seats. I should have given you more credit about Lila, I should have checked my own sources about her, I, I’m not sure if you’re telling the  truth or if you’re getting the wrong signals again, but I shouldn’t have dismissed you like that. I’m sorry. I want to be a better friend than that.” Alya breathed in deeply and gave her a small smile. “Please, forgive me?”
Marinette looked at her inquiringly. “What changed your mind?”
“Before I came here, Nino and I saw Adrien yelling at Lila and you came up at some point. That was when Lila dragged Adrien into some classroom. They both looked really mad,” Alya explained.
Marinette frowned. “So you believe me because of that?”
Alya bit her lip. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have doubted you. But I guess it didn’t really hit me until I saw Adrien yell at Lila. I mean, he doesn’t even do that for Chloe.”
Marinette couldn’t help but giggle. “I’ll give you a point for that.” Then her mood turned somber again. “But, I wish you had listened to me instead of just blaming it all on jealousy. I know that sometimes I get over-the-top, but I thought you would give me the benefit of doubt when no one else would. It really hurt when you believed her over me.”
Alya frowned and gave Marinette a sideways hug. “Oh, I know, Marinette. I’m really sorry. I promise, as a reporter, I’ll look into Lila’s stories, but as a best friend,” Alya separated from Marinette then cradled her face with her hands. “I promise I’ll always listen to you. Even if what you say turns out to be absolutely nonsense.”
Marinette smiled, warmth filling her entire being. She’d take what she could get when she couldn’t reveal the entire truth. “Thank you. And, I forgive you.”
Alya smiled widely before engulfing her in a tight hug. Marinette returned the sentiment.
Now that her best friend believed her, she would be alright.
When Alya released her, Marinette said, “There’s a lot I need to tell you about today.”
Alya smirked. “Lila or Adrien?”
Marinette pondered on that for a bit. “Both, actually. And well, Adrien and I are involved in something but I’ll explain that later.”
Alya’s smirk grew wider and she elbowed Marinette in the arm. “Make sure to give me all the deets, girl!”
Marinette chuckled. “Why, of course, mademoiselle reporter!”
The two collapsed into giggles that echoed throughout the classroom.
At the front, Lila grew more irritated as Marinette’s joyous giggles passed between her ears. Lila couldn’t believe that she was happy. But not for long. A burning desire to crush her, to put her under her control filled Lila’s veins. Lila Rossi was not done yet- not done by a long shot.
After all, Marinette had clearly chosen her side.
Her eyes narrowed dangerously as Mme Bustier arrived and approved all of the new seating arrangements.
This meant war.
P.S. Soooo how was that? I hope you liked it! And I’m sorry for making Marinette cry so much, and sorry in advance because the tears have just started. Anyways, I hope this was easy to follow since there was a lot of POV shifts.
P.P.S. This is only the first apology and Lila is still getting exposed for her lies. Initially it was only supposed to be Alya, but canonically, in any other episode, Marinette's classmates would have listened to what Marinette has to say, or have question her behaviour. So there.

Oh look, Adrien finally showed up to practice just to make Marinette miserable
Seems pretty standard for him tbh. After “Desperada” I just expect Adrien to pop up whenever Marinette is experiencing a modicum of joy.
Anonymous asked:
At the very least, with Ephemeral out now, we solidly know now that Marinette would have a hard time learning that Adr**n and Ch*t are the same person. It was kinda hinted at in Desperada with some of the visuals for the resets, but it's nice that they're saying the silent parts out loud. (And ain't it something that she only really focuses on Adr*Ch*t romantically after talking to Luka... Can't have her considering any of Chat's negative behavior can we now that she knows his identity.)
Agreed.... on both of those things.
Can’t have Marinette think for herself (then she might actually fall out of interest for AdriChat), gotta let her just blatantly copy the opinions of others instead.
Anonymous asked:
So, want to go over how Adrien stans will make out how Ephemeral is all Marinette's fault? Like unwittingly seducing Chat Noir and having him call her M'lady or Bugaboo when she doesn't like it? Or just basically existing even when it's still Adrien's fault Hawk moth won.
I MEAN, ASTRUC ALREADY BLAMED HER, SO I GUESS THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE TO WORK FOR IT.
