the corner of her lips is curled up, and though you could have ask her about it, you don’t. it’s partially because she looked pretty smiling and mostly because you really didn’t care anymore– not for your reservation, and especially not for your blind date who you should have met a minute or so ago.

“are you yn?”

(suddenly, the saying, “speak of the devil and he shall appear”, became all too real.)

frowning, you turn around to find a man who was a little too tall for your liking standing beside you, an awkward smile on his face.

“i am.” you say somewhat reluctantly, crossing your arms and giving him a questioning look. “who are you?”

“i’m jake.” he holds out a hand. “and, uh, i think our friend set us up?”

there’s a few choice words that you would have used in that moment. words that you would have said, had there not been a crowd of people around you that you did not want to embarrass yourself in front of and a cute girl standing behind you, a crestfallen expression on her face that you do not notice because, as said previously, she was standing behind you.

“oh.” is what you say instead, prompting him to smile in response, clearly oblivious to your dismay and sudden lack of interest.

one awkward but necessary conversation later, you no longer have a blind date, and both you and chuu—who, for some reason, is still standing beside you—watch as the man walks out the door with, you realized belatedly, a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

“wow, i sure am glad that that worked out well!” the waitress chirps, turning to you with a bright smile. “partially because it would’ve been bad if he caused a scene in here—this restaurant does have a reputation it needs to uphold, after all—but mostly because it would’ve been pretty bad if he decided to, y’know, punch you or something because of something you can’t control?”

she then pauses, her cheeks tinting a light pink as she giggled, a sheepish expression on her face. “sorry, i’m rambling, aren’t i?”

“don’t worry, i’m glad everything went well too.” you murmur, giving the girl a small smile. “and besides, your rambling is cute. why would i want someone cute to stop doing something that made them look cuter?”

“oh!” her cheeks now somewhat of a bright red, chuu averted her eyes, her hand reaching up and fidgeting with a strand of her long hair. “uh, thank you, yn-ssi.”

you hum, amused by how shy the previously flirty girl was. “chuu-ssi, when do you get off of work?”

“er…” she glances down at her wrist and, embarrassingly enough, it takes the two of you—you had looked too, for some reason—more than just one second to realize there wasn’t a watch on it. “oh, uh, oops, forgot i took my watch off, lemme just…”

she pulls out her phone, her eyes darting around for a brief moment as if she expected someone to scold her for doing so—her boss, maybe—before she turned it on. “my shift ends at eight, so… five minutes? maybe less.” slipping her phone back into her pocket, she looks up at you, an eyebrow raised. “why are you asking?”

“isn’t it obvious?” you ask cheekily, raising your own eyebrow. “even if i no longer have a date, i still have a reservation, and with all of these people,” you gesture to the other restaurant goers at the tables nearby, “eating with their partners, i don’t feel like eating by myself…”

at your words, the confused expression on the waitress’ faceturned into one of understanding. “oh! uh, yeah, i… sure! i, uhm, would love to… go on a date with you?”

her voice went higher in pitch as she spoke, her statement coming out more like a question than she probably intended it to.

still, you smile, nodding your head. “i’ll see you in five minutes then?”

“well, it probably won’t be five minutes… i still have to take off my uniform, then i have to talk to haseul-unnie, then i have to say goodbye to my coworkers, and– oh, i’m rambling again.”

“that you are.”

*Knock Knock*

"Are you ready, jagi? I just finished preparing all the cameras and the lighting. We're good to go if you are."

I stood in front of the 'dressing room' of the star of the show. It was inside a small trailer set up at the cliff of a hill near Seoul, overlooking the city. It was pretty dark outside, naturally, as it was already night time. The city lights lit up the surrounding area, creating a breathtaking view, and the scenery for todays episode of my girlfriend's show, 'Chuu Can Do It'. The episode required me to do some basic landscape and sky shots, comparing the air out in the city and in the 'wilderness'. The first portion of it was already finished, seeing as it was needed to be done in the morning. We also filmed an interview with a scientist and were now supposed to also do some shots of the sky during nighttime.

Jiwoo and I also decided to just stargaze after finishing the episode as a small celebration of her and her members winning their lawsuits.

"Yeah just come in for a second, I need your help", her muffled voice came from behind the door.
