My dad sends me. Doctor Who character analysis sometimes and here's his latest:
11, more than any other Doctor, is the reason that River says, "Never let the Doctor see you get older." Rose, Martha, Amelia, Clara, Billie, Ryan, and Yaz are all young, all full of a sense of wonder for the things that the Doctor shows them. Donna is an adult. She first decided to become a companion because she was in a rut and wanted to run away from that. So 10 thought she would be like the the others. On their first trip, 9 showed Rose the end of the Earth. When she assumes that he is going to save the Earth, he corrected her. Stating that this is an unchangeable event. From the beginning, he trains her not to question his judgement on what he says cannot be changed. Donna was too old to fall for that and pushes back constantly. Okay, so you can't save everyone in Pompeii, then just save one person. It isn't an all or nothing proposition. He learned from that and tried to do better. Until he got too arrogant and tried to save someone he really should have let die. But then he became 11, the Doctor who forgets. The one who keeps running away more than any other. 200 years running away from Lake Silence. Years in a cloud over Victorian London. Years spent in a monastary.
If he can't save everyone, then fine. He won't save anyone.
Then he became 12, with a face to remind him of Donna's lesson.

Daddy's baby
Balam was happily letting a tiny Clara climb all over him like he was some kind of mountain as he read a book to a sleepy little Alice and Iruma. Both boys snuggled together on his lap. Honestly, you were trying desperately not to squeal.
How was it again that this demon was single before you came along? He should have had five, if not six, little ones of his own with another on the way at this point. And that was at least!
By all accounts, he should have had a harem at this point! Demons were blind! You huffed as you watched him carefully tucking in the two boys while he carefully held a now squirming Clara.
A baby Jazz sat in your lap coloring, and you cooed happily over his scribbles. How was it that 4 out of your 13 children had been reduced to toddlers? Funny story...
Jazz was working on a project with his battler, something about making anti-aging potions. And of course, that's when your chaotic jellybean comes running in with her two precious soul mates behind her, trying to do damage control. Long story short, something gets knocked into the concoction, and it explodes.
Causing you and several other teachers to rush into the room. Your first instinct is to make sure each of your kids is alright. But really, the moment you spotted tiny hands reaching for you, your brain broke.
You couldn't help but snuggle and use baby talk. Really, it should be illegal for your kids to be so adorable. You and Sullivan took many pictures that first hour before you came to your senses about returning them to their original state.
You gave Dali-San the task of figuring that out as you would have your hands full. Balam had been terrified at first, thinking he'd hurt one of them accidentally, but both Clara and Iruma got him past those thoughts rather quickly as they reached out and tugged or held onto the large gargoyle.
Which required more pictures as you took the kids home for the day. It actually wasn't that bad. Sure, they got into things, and yes, you would definitely have a mess for later, but overall you loved it.
You glanced over to see Clara and Balam now rolling alone the floor. Your little jellybean laughing as she wore herself out trying and failing to get out of her kind teachers hold. You giggled.
Jazz had slipped off your lap and crept over to the playing duo. You watched as his tail waved back and forth rather lazily as he got a closer look. You blinked in shock.
Before you knew it, your little Jazzy had thrown himself at Balam as well. Luckily, the older demon had been paying attention and caught him by the back of his shirt. You letbout a sigh of relief.
Balam set Clara down and now played with the laughing little imp. "Baby, don't jump on, Daddy." You teased without thinking. You blushed. Both Jazz and shichiro are looking at you.
You heard a clatter and groaned. Clara had escaped the room again. You rushed out to do damage control. Secretly glad for a distraction.
... You take that back. Where in Hell did your little chaotic imp find glitter? Was she able to use her bloodline ability this young? Opera was going to kill you for the carpet.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Jazz stared up at the large demon, still holding him. His tail flicked in curiosity. "Baby?" He points to himself. Balam nodded, and a soft rumble left his chest.
"Baby," He confirmed, ruffling the little demons hair. Jazz's tail now waved happily as he beamed and pointed at himself again. "Daddy's baby!"
His heart pounded, and his cheeks turned red. But who could blame him? That was just so cute! Jazz tilted his head and pouted. "Daddy's baby?" This time as a question.
He pulled the little one closer and cooed, almost trilling. "Daddy's baby." He repeated firmly, so there wasn't doubt. The laughter that escaped the small child had him feeling like he was on cloud 9 all day.

It's a fairly busy week, and this kind of thing always helps me stay on-task - here's the day in a nutshell.
7am: Wake up (groggily) - I've found that I like having extra time in the morning, especially early in the week. Cuddles with Clara the cat, a little yoga (I have accumulated enough broken bones and scars that being totally sedentary means my whole body promptly turns to stone), shower, a nice breakfast and coffee while I catch up on work e-mails. A scientist from Switzerland who wants to do a two-year postdoc with me has sent me a document summarizing the research ideas we discussed at our last meeting! It's very neat stuff, and we're going to be putting together an application in the summer to get the full two years funded externally.
9am: Dry hair and set off to work! Manage to catch the 9:20 bus and have a chill commute to campus. Check e-mail again on my way into the building and realize our facilities manager has responded to an earlier e-mail, so I detour to his machine shop and chat a bit about the issue (I'm teaching an instrumentation class this quarter, and one of my students has been having trouble with her datalogger). He gives me a new USB cord, so I jog upstairs to try it out - no luck, just empty com ports and error messages galore :(. I also check out some of the hardware, but there are no suggestively bent pins or anything to give clues as to what's happening, and it looks like the console has stopped remote readings altogether. At a bit of a loss, I send him an update and head down to the lounge to get some hot water for my tea, then sit upstairs and quickly skim through the slides for today's lecture, which I haven't actually seen since last year. While I'm doing that, our facilities manager comes up with a fresh new datalogger and offers to configure it for me while I'm in class!
10:30am: Class goes well! We talk about some fun topics that are near and dear to my heart, and while everyone is a little on the shy and less-talkative side today, two different people are brave enough to confirm they got the right answer for the in-class exercise. Early on, the facilities manager comes in with the fresh datalogger, and I hand it off to the relieved student. Hopefully this does the trick! I get through my slides a few minutes early (probably because of the aforementioned quietness), which gives me time before my next meeting to quickly post grades for the students who gave an in-class presentation on Friday, as well as to link to the cloud recording of today's lecture.
11:30am: Research meeting! A colleague and I are co-advising an undergraduate research intern on a project we're seeking funding for (and have just hired a graduate student onto). She's progressing really nicely and just had a couple questions about a polar stereographic projection she was working on ("Is it meant to look that weird?" "Yes, absolutely."). We got her pointed in the right direction for the next couple of weeks, then raided my candy bowl and hung around a couple minutes chatting about how her classes are going. As she and my colleague leave, I see a message from the student with the troublesome datalogger confirming that the new one works! Whew. I send the victorious news to our facilities manager, with my endless thanks. The meeting wrapped up quickly, so I have time to munch on a protein bar (I usually pack a lunch, but I know I'm going out for a big dinner tonight) and enjoy my tea.
I'm a little nervous about a class I'm teaching next quarter - it's a really specialized grad-level class and if it gets fewer than 5 students, it gets canceled. Currently nobody is registered at all. On my colleague's advice, I put together an e-mail to all the grad students to let them know what the course has to offer.
I still have some time before my next calendar item, so I jump into the early stages of a scientific journal review due on Friday. It's a bit of an annoying process - it was originally rejected, and I got brought onto the resubmission when it was a long-ass paper plus 100 pages of replies to reviewers, and now we've made it through TWO MORE ROUNDS of reviews, so it's basically just a giant novel-sized mess of people yelling at each other. But it's gonna get done!
Just as I'm getting into the swing of things, two of my students pop by and stand in the hallway giggling nervously. Apparently they can't find their TA for another class and have a question about class material, so they figured they'd ask me instead - I gently redirect them to, you know, the professor of that course. "Yeah, but we're scared of him," they say, and I try not to die laughing with the knowledge that his wife is in the office next door to me hearing all this. Mixed feelings on this one - on the one hand, I'm glad my students see me as someone they can come to with questions. On the other, it's a time crunch on me that my old-white-dude colleagues don't have to contend with. They eventually head off in search of their professor while I go upstairs for...
12:30pm: Forecast briefing! We have weekly meetings for a national weather forecasting competition we're all in - it involves issuing 4 forecasts a week. I'm... okay at it (usually in the top quarter of competitors, at least beating the models), but we have some RIDICULOUSLY talented forecasters in our group. Today's briefing is entertaining enough, and we all squabble over where we want to forecast next week (the ~1000 participants vote on the city).
1:30pm: Research meeting! This one is with my most junior graduate student, who's a bit overwhelmed with coursework (the first year of our Master's degree is 9 extremely difficult courses before they finally get to do research full-time). We talk through it a bit and he asks for my advice on project/time management, so we chat about pomodoros, the Star Trek Scotty method (always give yourself a buffer and act as though things are going to take more time than they really will), and not writing the entire day off if you wind up doing nothing all morning - you can still hit a reset switch and have a busy afternoon if you need to. Just generally "be kind to yourself, because in the end the self-imposed guilt of not finishing something will stop you from progressing more than anything else." We also talk organizing code and avoiding hard-coding even when it makes the initial time investment much higher. It's a good chat, ending with some restaurant recommendations when he finds out I'm heading to his hometown this weekend! We wrap up early with some specific goals for the next couple weeks, and, after sending in my forecasts for the day, I get back to my review. I also order 5 lbs of candy to refill my candy bowls. It's been that kind of quarter. An e-mail comes in from a student interested in my course and asking for more info! She confirms she's probably going to take it, after consulting with her advisor. Heard from another colleague that she's got one student interested - two down, three to go!
2:30pm: Research meeting! How obvious is it that I like to front-load my week with meetings? This one's with a freshman undergraduate student who's started working with me as a research assistant on a new project... except the project we were originally going to work on together is going very very slowly (our collaborators at a different university are dragging their heels). He met with my PhD student a while back and got really interested in his work, and he apparently knows more than enough coding to be able to follow along, so I went ahead and got him access to 300,000 core hours and 1,000 GPU hours on a national supercomputer to do some exploratory data analysis. As you do. Tragically, the initial project also only works on PCs, and he's a Mac user, so that's another reason to pull him off one project and onto the other. Alas. The project he can't do is a SUPER appealing project to me (very repetitive, boring work that requires little brain-power - please let me do this from time to time!), so I might participate for the heck of it. Meeting ends a little early, so it's back to the review.
3:30pm: We're hiring! It's a dual hire with another department, so it's been a bit fraught, but the grueling two-day interviews roll on. This is number 3/5, so we're getting into the swing of things, and it's time to go attend the public seminar portion of the interview for this candidate. He is... absolutely astonishing on paper, like a once-in-a-generation kind of mind, so I'm already excited to see his talk. We'd be incredibly lucky to have him, although I'm not entirely clear on why he's leaving a super prestigious professorship two years in. I didn't get to schedule a one-on-one meeting with him since he has to leave earlier than expected tomorrow, but I'll be joining him for dinner tonight. The talk goes quite well, although I hear the students buzzing over whether he's genuinely collaborating or just doing the tech-bro thing of coming in and claiming to solve all our problems... Plenty to think about at dinner tonight. I believe this will be what the kids call a vibe check. (We also have a chalk talk tomorrow where he'll present his work to just the faculty + postdocs, so more chances there!)
5pm: Got some time to kill before heading over to dinner at 5:45. I was originally going to do some work, but my brain is a little fried at this point and I may just zone out and scroll for an hour. More tea! That'll solve everything.
5:45pm: Meeting a colleague to go grab the candidate and Uber over to the restaurant together - I love this place! Lots of good food, and plenty of non-alcoholic cocktails and veggie/vegan/gluten-free options, so an ideal spot to bring a guest speaker or faculty candidate. He was very pleasant to chat with and really knew his stuff despite having just had an exhausting day. Good food, good chats all around. Home by 9:30pm, phew.

This Place is Not a Home
The problem child, also known as the black sheep of the family or the scapegoat, are often cast aside and blamed for problems that may not even involve them. People under this role often feel rejected, unloved, and isolated. - Source

Ch 1: Prologue: The Problem Child
All angels start off as balls of Light; a rebirth from their last mortal death. They will stay this way for some time, gaining consciousness of what they are and who they are destined to become. Hidden behind the gates of Heaven, they stay under the watchful eye of those above them, those that guide and shape them into something useful and purposeful.
If the Light shows no potential, they are sent back to Earth to be reborn as a human, forced to repeat the cycle of corruption and redemption. If the Light shows promise, they are accorded with a pair of simple wings, pure white as the clouds they call home and as golden and bright as the stars they are reborn from. With the emergence of these wings starts the process to become proper angels.
It’s a process as old as time, a procedure that has allowed heaven to function as successfully as it can. It’s a triumphant system as long as you ignore the Fallen Angels; angels that allow themselves to be corrupted before their second pair of wings; angels that chose to deviate from Lady Clara’s Plan, choosing to not use their Gifts with their intended purpose.
How an angel gets corrupted is a tricky pattern to recognize, or rather, there is no pattern to it. Angels live under a strict hierarchy, and as such, deviant behavior is not tolerated.
“It’s to ensure no Darkness rests in the Light’s heart”, the dominion known as the Warden has always explained. “We can’t risk allowing corruption so high in our ranks. If we do, we risk the stability of reality itself. We risk a collapse so destructive in the universe that Lady Clara will barely be able to reconstruct with our help.”
However, Heaven had no true way to predict who would turn and who would not. All they had to rely on was speculation born from their need for a pecking order. Heaven fears those who divert from their standards. Under the watchful eyes of the Warden, and following the omniscient words of Lady Clara, those disparate angels are sent away, banished away from Paradise to fend for themselves.
Sometimes they were exiled quietly, their behavior not enough for a show, but noteworthy to attest caution. More common were the designed banishments, a shameful demonstration to those who question the will of Lady Clara. With the loss of their wings, the message for all the angels was clear: Do not deviate from what Lady Clara demands. We are watching. We are waiting. Do not disappoint us. We gave you these wings, we can take them back.
This has been the reality for those in Heaven since the birth of Time, the expectations only worsening when the Warden was ranked. Everyone knew not to question his word, or to act out of line.
Everyone knew this, all except Tommy.
=+=
When Tommy and Tubbo died, Heaven rejoiced because they had high hopes for the two.
Back on Earth, despite living under unfortunate circumstances, the two souls clung to kindness and forgiveness. They could have quickly let themselves be corrupted with bitterness and anger, and yet despite it all, their concern and love for others stayed stubbornly strong.
It had been a while since Heaven had such good natured angels, even longer with souls that were pure-hearted in their desire to help and protect. They had high hopes, but with these high hopes came higher pressures. It was known that angels like the two boys easily fell under deception and leaned towards the freedom the demons offered, for their compassionate nature was effortless to take advantage of.
Tommy and Tubbo were bright balls of Light, curious about everything around them, kindness and preservation their strongest characteristics. Heaven couldn’t risk having them corrupted or having their rotten Light spread to the other young angels, infecting Heaven with the deceit of wickedness.
Everyone watched as their potential developed and matured, growing under the guidance of others as their personalities developed to the point where it was easy to distinguish the bright Lights. It was clear to all those around that the two boys were inseparable, a trait from their past that carried out throughout death. Two peas in a pod, never seen apart from the day they arrived as orbs. They stuck close, no one truly daring to separate the two brothers only in soul.
To separate them equaled chaos. They balanced each other out, without the other there is nothing to hold back their chaotic natures. Where Tubbo was quiet and calculating, Tommy was loud with his heart on his sleeve, dragging Tubbo to new troubles with laughter on both their faces. Where Tommy was impulsive and a tornado trapped in a bottle, Tubbo reined him in with logic and acted as the calming sea to his storm. Both brought the best of the other and pushed each other to their fullest potential.
“He’s my brother”, the boys would often report, “I would be lost without him”. Clingy, that’s what the other angels called them. That’s what they told the boys, for why every assignment they were together. Can’t cope without each other, can only function with the other. It was for the best of everyone’s interest to keep them together.
In truth, this was not the reason why.
The angels were afraid, whispers and rumors circulating their unease. “There’s something wrong with that one”, the whispers spread. “He acts like a demon child. He acts unnatural. We’re afraid, afraid of what he can become.”
Tubbo and Tommy, not even Guardian Angels yet with their new single pair of pure wings—barely able to fly without crashing into each other—were powerless to the will of the higher beings. There was no warning when it happened, both powerless to the speculations spreading like the wings of a bird taking flight.
They didn’t know the danger that was staring at them from the sanctuary they called home. They had no time to prepare, to bargain.
They had no time to say goodbye.
=+=
Tommy felt like something was wrong about him. He didn’t know what it was, what could be the cause. He just knew, based on the looks others gave him, that something was wrong with him.
Tubbo tried telling him he was perfect the way he was, that Heaven made him for a reason, a good reason too, if Tommy was able to get his wings.
But that didn’t stop the wary gazes, the mutters of something wrong being him. There was something wrong with Tommy, and he didn’t know it was.
But at least he had Tubbo. Perfect in every way Lady Clara desired, good in a way Tommy could never be. Tubbo, the ideal angel, his brother in ways Tommy always hoped for.
Tommy tried to be good, tried to be more like what Lady Clara expected of him. But he was never enough. His efforts either weren’t to the excellence the Warden strived for or they were too much of a calamity.
He was too much for an angel, too catastrophic, too vocal and demanding. A malison hidden with everything pure, a speck of gray among the white.
“There’s something wrong with him,” the others whispered, not knowing Tommy heard their cruel predictions. “It’s like he’s not even an angel .”
The rumors grew, and the watchful, judgmental eyes continued to monitor him. Tommy wasn’t meant to be there. Everyone knew this, including Tommy. All they needed was one more misstep on his part, all they needed was more proof of his inevitable turn into something wrong. Tommy never told Tubbo, not sure if Tubbo even noticed. He wanted to remain ignorant to the rising tensions. He was afraid, afraid of what was expected of him. Tommy tried being good, but it’s hard when everyone looked at him with this hunger, a desire to watch him fall.
Tommy played oblivious, determined to continue his lessons and play with Tubbo. As far as Heaven was aware, Tommy knew nothing. For the pair, nothing was amidst. Everything was bliss in Paradise as they romped together, feathers flying as Tommy chased Tubbo, laughter lost in the clouds. Tommy and Tubbo continued being the indissoluble pair they always had been, balancing the good and bad between each other.
Everything was perfect and ideal, Tommy would tell himself. Nothing was wrong, it was all in his head. He earned his wings for a reason. He was pure, there was nothing to worry about.
What Tommy didn’t know was the rumors had reached the Dominion’s ears, catching the attention of the Warden, the most severe of the angels.
He watched every fight Tommy started, every disagreement he got in. He noted it all, records of every un-angelic action Tommy performed.
It didn’t take long before the trial began, even less for the decision to be made.Throughout it all, Tubbo stayed silent. Throughout it all, Tommy cried about the injustices that plagued Paradise.
In the end, Tommy had no one by his side as he plummeted through the sky, wings burning as he fell.
In the end, Tommy was alone, and Tubbo stayed silent throughout it all.
The day Tommy gets kicked out is one he barely remembers.
=+=
It had started off as another boring other day, with him and Tubbo playing with the other angels as Sam droned to the others their duties.
Tubbo was hovering as he watched their group, cheering Tommy on as the latter attempted tricks he’d seen the younger Guardian Angels master. He didn’t have the same agility nor ability as those angels, wings still too small and inexperienced, but Tommy was ambitious and stubborn.
Tommy didn’t know if Guardianship would be his skill, or if his speciality would be something boring and uninspiring, despite Tubbo’s claims that no such role existed under Lady’ Clara’s Plan. Both often speculated what type of angels they will grow to be, trying to piece together their memories to clue in what their gift was. Tommy thought Tubbo, with his endless patience and ability to stay calm, would excel as a Principality or even as a Virtue. Tommy….Tommy wasn’t sure what he would do well in.
Clearly Tommy had proven himself enough to be granted his first pair of wings. But with every judgmental stare and muttered complaint whenever others passed him, Tommy knew he didn’t have the desired traits as the other angels. He was rowdy and reckless, he didn’t think, and just acted with his heart. He was loud and caused commotions that led to the ruination of things around him. He heard others whisper these were traits of Ruin, but Tommy argued otherwise.
It didn’t feel fair that everyone was watching him with the expectation of his inevitable doom and corruption. It didn't feel fair that while Tubbo got gentle smiles and guiding hands, Tommy was met with scornful gazes and lectures of what was expected of him. It didn’t matter how much Tommy tried justifying himself, tried pointing out the unfairness surrounding them, Tommy was always to blame.
    It wasn’t fair.
                          It wasn’t fair.
                                                  It wasn’t fair.
      It wasn’t fair.
      It wasn’t fair.
It wasn’t fair that Tommy never learned to be quiet. It wasn’t fair that no one was willing to stick up for him, not even his best friend. It wasn’t fair, because all Tommy tried to do was protect others that couldn’t protect themselves.
No one ever stuck-up for him, not even Tubbo, though that didn't surprise Tommy. It just hurt, to watch a familiar face be so apathetic as he fell. Sometimes he thinks that empty face ruined him more than his actual banishment. Sometimes he finds himself still resentful for what happened, despite all the good it eventually brought, despite Tubbo’s apologies and explanations.
But at the time, that didn't matter. Because all Tommy knew was he was alone, and despite all his efforts to stick up for others, no one saved him from the worst punishment given, no recorded Angel ever recovering from it, or coming back.

My favorite lyrics on the original TTPD
Fortnight
"I was a functioning alcoholic til nobody noticed my new aesthetic."
2. The Tortured Poets Department
"I've seen this episode and still loved the show Who else decodes you? - - But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave and I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen."
3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
"Oh, here we go again The voices in his head called the rain to end our days of wild - - Rivulets descend my plastic smile"
4. Down Bad
"Did you really beam me up in a cloud of sparkling dust just to do experiments on?"
5. So Long, London
"You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days And I'm just getting color back into my face I'm just mad as hell 'cause I loved this place"
6. But Daddy I Love Him
"Growin' up precocious sometimes means not growin' up at all."
7. Fresh Out The Slammer
"Years of labor, locks, and ceilings In the shade of how he was feeling But it's gonna be alright, I did my time"
8. Florida!!!
"Little did you know your home's really only a town you're just a guest in."
9. Guilty As Sin
"This cage was once just fine Am I allowed to cry? I dream of crackin' locks Throwin' my life to the wolves or the ocean rocks"
10. Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?
"At all costs, keep your good name You don't get to tell me you feel bad
-- I'm always drunk on my own tears, isn't that what they all said?"
11. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
"And I could see it from a mile away A perfect case for my certain skill set"
12. lolm
"Who's gonna tell me the truth when you blew in with the winds of fate and told me I reformed you? When your impressionist paintings of heaven turned out to be fakes... well, you took me to hell too"
13. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
"They said, "Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it" and I did Lights, camera, bitch, smile Even when you wanna die"
14. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
"I would've died for your sins, instead, I just died inside And you deserve prison, but you won't get time"
15. The Alchemy
"This happens once every few lifetimes These chemicals hit me like white wine What if I told you I'm back? The hospital was a drag"
16. Clara Bow
"You've got edge, she never did The future's bright, dazzling"

Camelopardalis, Spinat, und Düsseldorf
Good morning from sunny Aachen! The program is slowly coming to an end. I have been in Germany for a little over 9 weeks. That feels quite surreal as it feels like I have just arrived. The final symposium is this Thursday. I finished my poster a couple of days ago. I presented research at a symposium in April. I'm not sure if this is because I've been through the process before but the second time around feels significantly less daunting and taxing.
This past Wednesday, we headed to West Park, a local hang-out spot in Aachen. Pictured below is Adam amongst the ducks. Once these creatures realize you have food they do NOT back down.
Tumblr media
One of the students on the trip brought a disposable camera to the Rursee trip. Here's all of us on the lake below !

Adding on to Wednesday's activities. Valerie, Eliana, Clara, and I climbed onto the roof of the student dorm buildings. It was such a beautiful view from up there. Although there was ample cloud cover, we saw the faint outline of Camelopardalis, the 18th largest constellation in the sky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pictured below is the token dorm cat we named Spinat. Spinat is quite a friendly outdoor cat. My initial questions described on this blog consisted of whether I'd meet a German dog. Although I have not, at least I met a German cat!
In addition, I have been going on a lot of runs in Aachen. There is one route I love in particular. I run through Campus Melaten and venture along the Aachener golf course. The lack of people and good trails make this an epic and classic route.

Yesterday, some friends and I traveled to Düsseldorf. We headed to the Rheinkirmes. A two-week-long fair/carnival. We dove headfirst into the fair and went on this INSANE ride pictured below. I'm not sure if this picture does the ride justice but you'll have to trust me on this one.
Tumblr media
One major difference I noted between this fair and Cedar Point for example is that the entrance was free, but each ride had a different price. Therefore, I only went on two rides because it was quite expensive. Those two rides were incredibly worth it though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the fair, we crossed this lovely bridge (Oberkassel Brücke) to your lower left and ventured into the Altstadt, or old town. To the lower right is the MediaHarbor bridge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is one last picture of Düsseldorf. Although it was quite foggy and windy the whole day it alleviated the dreadedJuly heat.

See you next week! :ö

Tuesday,  20  June,  2023......... Warmup.......Back Squats........ 3  Rounds  Of  AMRAP...Triceps.
Light rain showers, thunderstorms with lightening, frog-strangling cloud-bursts, sunshine, light rain, rumbles of thunder all afternoon.  The Weather-Lady couldn’t make up her mind.  But at 3:55 the sun came out, so me and Grandpa Joe blew the puddles off the mats and hope prevailed.  About a dozen brave people showed up.  If I didn’t live here I wouldn’t have come.

Notes:
The rain held off for our hour, and then recommenced.  Everyone demonstrated great attitudes!!  We enjoyed the company of Clara because she would rather be here than go to a very puddly track workout.
It seemed that most everyone liked the workout.  Nearly everyone stayed and did the Cool-Down Triceps work.  Warren A stormed out early, but that was because he had to cook shrimp taco’s at his house.
Kayla brought home-made pickles in Mason Jars.  She brought just enough to satisfy her very few friends, but not enough to win her any new friends.  Miss Linda already tasted them and declared them excellent.  I’ll taste later.  Did Kayla take pictures and post them on Instagram?
BTW, Kayla announced another new boy-friend tonight.  I think he’s the 14th in the 15 months since she has been coming to LHCF.  Apparently this dude is some kind of counselor of people with behavior problems and practices his sessions before a full-length mirror.  Also his TENDER account says he is a serious workout athlete, but is shorter than she.  Kayla promises that their 1st date will be at the Barn so we can peruse his portfolio.  You gotta hand it to that girl.  She’s Brave.  I hope he is favored enough to at least get some home-made pickles.
Thursday at 4 PM.  I hope it is good weather.  Kayla is making something special for the wine and snacks party after.  Is this blog all about Kayla ??
