Capturing the Silence of Sounds While Walking in White Sands National Park (Black and White) by Mark Stevens

A view looking to the southwest across the white sands desert landscape present in this part of the national park while walking the Alkali Flat Trail. My thought on composing this image was to capture a sweeping view with the ripples across the sandy landscape. Angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, would also bring the horizon a little higher into the image to better bring that effect out. The other thing I wanted to capture was the, or what I thought was, the unusual cloud formation above the San Andres Mountains. I later performed a conversion to black & white using Silver Efex Pro 3 where I made some adjustments to color filters to bring out a much richer tonal contrast for the final image.
