Imagine Silver surviving Iblis’ reign, or a zombie apocalypse, or even a perpetual ice age… In a future so ruined to the point it could not recover, what would Silver's life look like?

Looking back to what once was

Remember what time periods Silver has traveled to in order to fix the future. From Sonic’s present to far far in the past… How did Silver's travels affect his friends and himself? Do they even remember it happening at all?

I think I'm actually more ok with the expresion of "consume media" than I was a year ago tbh. Like, I get that it's from the same corporate consumerist origin as all art being mushed together into "content" and that that's bad but you know what? When I watch a movie or read a book I AM consuming it. I'm eating it. I'm digesting it. I'm making it a part of me. I know that in this context it literally just means "buy" but I am choosing to make it about me metaphorically chewing on this videogame instead. Nom nom.

whenever i start a new project, i find myself going on a little journey across the internet looking for advice on starting new projects. i know how to do it, but i'm always curious about other people's ideas. most of the stuff i read is aimed at new creators who don't know how to get things off the ground at all.

one thing that strikes me about it is that there isn't really any consensus about how to start something, and i think that's really great! there's a million ways to approach a problem, and (short of solutions which harm or exploit others) none of them are wrong if they're the one that's working best for you.

still, a significant number of the articles i read position themselves as having The Answer for how to make a thing. i think a lot of people sorta feel they have to frame their advice like this in order to give the impression that they know what they're talking about.

sometimes as i'm reading i get gripped with a sense of panic about it, a feeling of 'oh no i'm doing things WRONG', or concern that two ideas about new approaches which I've found would be interesting to try cannot be applied at the same time to the same project.

but! advice between one article and the next isn't necessarily going to carry over or map on perfectly. many pieces of advice about starting projects is going to be contradictory based on your sources. it makes me wonder how many people get caught in a loop of trying to take ALL the advice, even when it would be impossible to do so.

sometimes ripping out your whole process and starting from the ground up is the best thing you can do, creatively, but in many circumstances, taking the pieces of advice which will most meaningfully help you redirect your existing skills whilst leaving behind the things that don't serve you? that's also a valid and worthwhile thing to do!

drawing on the knowledge and experience of others is an important practice whatever stage you're at in your life as a creator of things. learning new methods and techniques can help you develop your own practice and sharing knowledge is incredibly important. just remember that there are many ways to solve the same problem, and part of what makes your creations unique are your approaches as an individual. it is impossible to take all of the advice! do continue to seek it out, and also know that you're not disrespecting it by deciding it's not something which will help.

Man, I haven't drawn anything since I set up my computer. I haven't made any progress on cleaning my room other than moving my bed across the room. Haven't made any progress on that RPG sideblog. My sleep schedule is wrecked from staying up late playing BG3. The Teal Mask dlc for Pokémon SV just came out but I have no interest in playing it right now because of BG3.

And yet, for all the time I've put into this game (Steam says I've got like 50 hours on it, but the first 10 were on my laptop & I don't think count bc of my laptop being so slow & crashing the game so much), I haven't even finished Act One. I've spent most of my time fucking around in the character creator or figuring out what clothes from Basket of Equipment and Transmogrifocation Camp Clothes to use (and yesterday I used Bag of Sorting & Pouch of Wonders so I could sort all my clothes/equipment).

#tmi #i'd like to properly draw my Tav (as well as Pallia my durge) but my brain is like #“y'know what would be even better than drawing them? playing them. or playing around in the character creator more” #i did send out more job applications at least #& did some laundry. including the couple things my cat delilah peed on #oh I've also played around in HeroForge a bunch #but I think that can be grouped in with my bg3 fixation

now that that’s out of the way, hi ! i’m davi ! i know i’ve kept my identity a bit of a secret on here, but i made the discord server and such, and helped with the modpack as well. our team are wonderful people, and if you pop into the discord server i’m sure you’ll meet me properly ! special thanks to quil (the server owner) for getting all this together, and taz (a friend) for helping configure a lot of the create things (that i have no idea about) and also helping to make things more fair. i am so excited for this project to launch and as well as getting to know all of these wonderful people a bit better, both new and old.
