Apparently yesterday was #internationalhomebirthday so I have to jump in here to share mine! Sky was an unassisted homebirth after two cesareans. I spent my birthing years education and advocating for women to have control of their bodies and their birth process. Big ups to all the mommas, non-mommas and every woman who tells the patriarchy to fuck off!! We are always fighting for the right to our own bodies, and today is no different. Because of birth being medical and controlled, we have the highest maternal and infant mortality rate of any industrialized nation. Changes need to happen. A birth that is treated like a natural process is a much safer birth. Sky’s birth was the one that showed me my true power. It changed everything for me. I do not regret a thing. I’d totally do it again. There is nothing to fear about birth. The fear should be from the medicalization and interventions. On several occasions, I have experienced sexual assault. One culprit who assaulted me only got a 1 year sentence to jail. Because of his crime, I got post-trauma (PTSD), fibromyalgia, eating disorder, IBS, whiplash, anxiety, panic disorder, severe sleeping difficulties, depression, and dissociative fugue.  Because of the assaults I have experienced in my life, it caused me get an early retirement pension, and I am no longer capable to have a normal, full-time job. I have been raped 3 times in my life. When I was 11 years old, a friend's dad raped me. At 17 years old, I got raped by my crush. During my early adulthood years, I got drugged and raped by a man at a pub. And once, there was also an another man, who had tried to rape me. But he realized shortly after attacking me, that this time I was too quick and strong for him and I managed to fight him off, and called the police. That man got caught. Unfortunately, there are still many rapists who run free and get away with what they have done. I cannot bear myself to count all the times I have been sexually assaulted. And just how many "dick pics" I have received from men through internet/SMS/MMS, and ect. I have in the past been working as a witness supporter (a person who mentally support witnesses of crimes, calming and comforting them). But in the end, I quit that job, because I deem that Sweden has an extremely flawed judicial system, that causes a lot of harm. I want you to remember that you are not alone.
