Possible au idea?
Okay, so, I've been thinking about this for a little while. The idea stems from the Tethered au a little (DO NOT WORRY I AM NOT ABANDONING IT I'VE JUST HAD NO ENERGY FOR IT!!!!)
Au where different variants of Player showed up instead of the balls of light in the Links chests. They face a similar reincarnation cycle to the Triforce Trio but more on par with Impa- they play an important part in defeating Ganon but don't do it out right?
Now, before I start- some of these ideas for Players have been recycled from Tethered au because I loved them too much to just abandon them so if it feels repetitive I'm sorry but deal with it /lh (Please forgive me for reusing ideas but I loved these ideas too much)
So next to the boys I'll put the names and roles I want them to have in each timeline!
I think ima call this the Reincarnation au!
Time - Forest - (Ranger) Twilight - Scroll (Researcher/Scholar) Warriors - Tatics (Zelda's Royal Knight) Sky - Star, gotta keep up the theme! (Fellow knight-in-training!) Legend - Allegro (Travelling musician/bard) Hyrule - Moss - (Druid (Aka forest cryptid)) Wild - Arcane (Royal Sorcerer) Four - Forge (Jeweler) Wind - Current (Pirate Captain- they have a hook and eye patch because I said so) (Honourable mentions) Courage - Martial (Travelling monk) Koridai - Chambers (Zelda's personal handmaid)
Before anyone asks, yes I did use DnD classes that game is my shit
Might give more tomorrow, my head's too sore now OIUGFRF

Eclipse AU(Tldr at bottom of post_
So I made a modern-sort of percy jackson inspired AU for Linked Universe, I think it's fun to write! I hope other people enjoy it. Here's my weird rough summary. Willing to answer any and all questions!
The Chain are lost in time, trapped in an unending cycle of life and death. A familiar tale to the hero's spirit. In their last confrontation with the incarnations of demise, and the demons he commanded--the whole of reality went asunder, and the power of the gods shattered entirely.
After that confrontation--the nine embodiments of the hero’s spirit suffered the same fate as their homeland--their souls washed away in caskets of golden tears and failed promises.
Hyrule was wiped away, wiped from the face of history and beyond. The goddesses had to begin their creation anew, without the baggage of those that caused it’s destruction in the first place.
Earth, modern earth, was created in it’s place--with a few key changes.
For all their efforts--the remains of their first creation leaked through, infecting the history of our earth like vile rot. The monsters were the first to make the breach, their combined hatred and inhuman will to survive holding their corrupted essences together through the transition.
There are stories of these creatures, often disregarded as exaggerated hyperbole by historians, or metaphors for natural disasters.
They were not.
The Queen Gohma haunts the jungles of South America, legends of her urchin-like young making victims of unfortunate wanderers; sustaining her immortal lifespan in the depths of her hollowed tree.
Argorok terrorized the skies of medieval Europe, casting plumes of fire on the feudal armies that tried opposing it’s oppressive reign; her accompanying packs of gleeoks hunting ancient sailors in the atlantic.
And there were many, so many more monsters that endured the chaotic folding of time and space, the near-annihilation of any sense of self--as the mind and soul were put to battle against the last, drawn out gasps of their dying universe. The destruction was biblical, the return of gods seen only in legend--it’s a wonder that anything survived that cataclysm.
The chain suffered a similar fate--at first--their existence and histories torn apart atom by atom, their souls stretched paperthin as thought and reality blended together during the collapse of stars.
But they endured.
They tumbled through the new cosmos, the echoes of their shared spirit melding into the foundation of the universe--as immovable as gravity. When humanity came to prominence; the chain were there to follow. They were reborn, stripped of their memories, into a thousand different societies, and countless eras.
At times of crises and devastation; their nine courageous souls were reborn across the earth, their courage burning brighter than it had been before. They were prepared for the changing world, their skills old and new continuing with each reset.
There are some echoes of continuity, however, rules that their spirit must follow.
Twilight is related to time in some way, and they’re the two who meet again the most.
Wind is always born in sea-faring communities, whether that be in the literal age of pirates, or as an early tribesmen at the dawn of civilization--rediscovering his aptitude for sailing.
And as the chain have been reborn, so too have many of Hyrule’s legends, their essences bleeding forth onto our realm. The memory of that primeval history scars our world, and fragments of every era hides under the bustling, nation-states of our modern age.
Some more aware than others.
Those with the blood of Hylia returned, bringing the memory of their goddess with them--thought to be eradicated. They possess no royal heritage, living as normal citizens, the zeldas being born nearby their links.
The sheikah bounced back quickly, as Impa(SS) managed to come out of the transition with her memories intact--assembling her fractured tribe during the stone ages.
TLDR: Modern AU that’s sort of percy jackson in how Hyrule seeps over. Ancient things hidden in modern times, with the chain reborn worldwide.

A big feature of the Vah Naboris dungeon was that big, eternally rotating disc with three holes on the camel’s butt that you activate with an electrical current. In terms of astral metaphors, the Gerudo is the only culture whose item descriptions reference both the sun (Daybreaker, the “desert sun” text around the palace) and the moon (the Moonlight Scimitar and its reference to long-forgotten “ancient festivals”). Given that a major game mechanic is the Blood Moon, which is an exaggeration of an irl phenomenon that happens during lunar eclipses when the earth’s shadows darkens the moon, giving it a rusty red color, I feel like the three circles are some kind of reference of the orbits and alignment of the moon, earth, and sun (particularly since lunar eclipses seem to be way more common in Hyrule than they are in real life, whether due to supernatural interference or some funky high fantasy stuff going on with how planetary orbits work in that fictional universe).
There’s a general theme of (electrical) circuits, cycles, and orbits in Vah Naboris. It’s got the strongest cosmic vibe next to Vah Rudania’s pitch black abyss full of glowing pink stars. The architecture of the camel’s humps make them feel like planetariums or observatories, their ceilings painted with the iconic false stars of the Sheikah, as if they’re classrooms meant to instruct visitors on how to identify and locate the various constellations they considered important. I feel like the “circular” themes of Naboris, as well as Urbosa’s cryptic comment that the Champions’ deaths were “how things had to happen,” brings home the themes of “fate” that are found throughout what we know about the ancient Sheikah.
It made me stop and pay attention when Impa mourned how her friends, the Champions, “died without fulfillment their destinies.” And then later, when Paya repeated her lines in front of the Jiraya guardian statue about the little guardian god statues “serving as signposts for us to follow,” and Link “walking the path we all should follow.” This idea of an immutable, unchangeable fate, some kind of plan Hylia wrote for her chosen peoples in the stars before her passing, seems to be a very sincerely held religious belief among the Sheikah, everywhere from the monks offering up their own bodies/souls to the future Hero to Paya carefully polishing and preserving the family heirloom orb in the hopes it will someday “fulfill its purpose” and therefore be complete. Impa, too, talks a lot about everyone “serving the same purpose” once she senses the souls of the Champions accompanying Link.
Which makes it very, very interesting how the Yiga seemed to have been like “fuck that” and abandoned Hylia’s Plan For Us All. It’s really rebellious and downright heretical, even if all it got them was 10,000 years of bumming around aimlessly and attaching themselves to another deity because they weren’t experienced enough with independence to figure out how to live without Fate or the edicts of some petty tyrant god guiding their every move.

The Broken Link in the Chain Chapter One: Unlikely Fates Twisted
A tale about unlikely twists of fates, unlikely allies and villains, will they be able to save Hyrule? Or will the timeline as a whole suffer for this turn of events? Follow the reader and their adoptive brother Gam on their adventures across Hyrule, as they make friends and enemies alike and unravel the truth about what has happened to their segment of the time line.
There is a Tale as old as time, a never ending cycle of rebirth, good vs evil, forever unchanged… That was, till one day, something extraordinary happened.
The unthinkable happened.
A ripple in the timeline, one so strong it was able to twist the threads of fate.
Power, Wisdom, Courage…
All significant roles to play under the triforce, each their assigned role, and part to play on the stage that was the undying cycle.
But as the stars shifted, the threads tangled, things began to change. With that in mind, Our tale begins with one unlikely birth.
The birth of a Gerudo boy, a birth that only happens approximately every 100 years. He was born outside the Gerudo valley, on a starry night.
Most Gerudo men are welcomed and celebrated, but due to a long history filled with conflict and hate caused by the curse placed on one Gerudo man, it was worried that this innocent boy would become something fearful in the future. A fear that he’d be rejected, outcasted and exiled.
So the boy's mother had made a special request of two important people, one of the Gerudo chieftess, and a darling old friend.
The request was to let the boy be raised by her friend in Kakariko village until he was to be called back to Gerudo town eventually like the vai born and raised outside the capital.
If it had been any other Hylian vai, the request might just have been declined, but since it was a Hylian the chieftess knew, and knew that she could trust. She approved of the unusual request with the condition that Lady Impa would write to them about the young Ganondorf’s development.
And that is how Gam, the young Gerudo boy got the chance to be raised inside the sheikah village of Kakariko village, where he would be raised by the elder lady Impa. While she was strict to a fault, she was kind and caring to the boy. Though she could only pray to the goddesses that it would be enough to save him from a terrible fate.
So this is his tale…
---
Although Gam was unusual and stood out among the Hylians in the small village this didn’t stop him from making friends.
“(Name)?” Gam tried desperately to wake his friend.
“(Name), get up, Impa will be pissed if she finds out you’ve slept in again” He reminds them, mostly for their own safety. With a sigh Gam makes a final attempt to wake them.
“Sav’otta~” said in a manner of power, the kind of tone Impa usually uses to get them to listen. A motherly warning tone before you get in trouble.
“I’m up!” They shout, alarmed as they toss their blanket aside and get up. Frantically grabbing their gear and trying to put it on quickly. “Don’t scare me like that!”
“I wouldn’t have to, if you got up the first two times, (Name)” He said, stepping out of the way as they rushed around their shared room to get ready for the day.
They would simply stick their tongue out at Gam, before pulling their haori on and grabbing their training shoes. Gam would roll his eyes and shake his head, all with an amused smile on his face as he pulled up his mask.
“Good luck, you're gonna need it if you’re gonna live through impa’s wrath.” he says walking out of the room. Gam could hear them groan in dismay as left.
Once the two of them made it outside, they stood side by side, both looking down at the ground so they didn’t have to see the disappointed look on lady Impa’s face. Something the two of them both couldn’t handle.
“Let me guess, (Name) slept in again, Correct?” Impa interrogated the two, even if she wasn’t very intimidating visually, her tone was deadly.
“Yes, ma’am!” They responded in unison.
“Then Gam, stayed to wake (Name) up?” she continued with a watchful eye.
“Yes!”
“Thus, both of you are now late to training together?”
“Yes, ma’am…” They sounded like dejected children that got told no they couldn’t have ice cream.
“You know the drill then, start with an extra 15 laps,” Lady Impa instructed. She seemed to show mercy. For the time being. But why?
Once the two had started their laps and were sure enough that Impa was out of ear shot, they started whispering.
“She let me off the hook- why? - oh my goddesses she really is going to kill me.”
“(Name), she isn’t going to kill you. You’re being stupid.”
“Oh shut it, wise guy. Then why do you suggest she’s being merciful?”
“I can’t recall anything important happening today, can you?”
“Nooo… nothing comes to mind- not forgetting a birthday are we?”
“I write everyone's birthdays in my calendar. I wouldn’t have forgotten something like that,” Gam states with a deadpan expression
“Alright… how about - festivals?” They give him a playful glare of annoyance.
“The whole town would be chatting about it and flowers would be everywhere,” he says simply.
“Is Impa expecting any visits or something from the royal family?”
“Not that she’s mentioned,” Gam says with a shrug, having not recalled much of note.
“We are so dead when we get back.” “You’re so dead when you get back,” Gam playfully corrected before picking up his pace as he started to race his friend to finish their laps.
“CHEATER!” They yell after him, for giving himself a head start. Quickly chasing after their tall friend.
Once they started racing it didn’t take them long to finish their total of twenty-five laps. Gam, with his height advantage and head start, to no surprise completed the laps first.
“You’re such a cheater, Gam.” They say with a huff as they place their hands on their knees to stop and catch their breath.
“You would have done the same,” Gam says simply while pulling his hair into a proper high ponytail.
“Yeah, I would have,” they pant before sitting their ass down on the ground. As they sat there, they soon noticed that Impa wasn’t there ready to kick their scrawny asses into gear. Which only felt more terrifying for some reason.
“Impa didn’t mention anything about stealth training did she?” They glance back over to Gam with a look of concern.
“No- we’re going over our form again because someone can’t get their footing right,” Gam says simply and also starts glancing around.
“Hey. Hey. Rude. I’m working on it.” They crossed their arms grumpily. “Though, if Impa isn’t here… what’s going on?” they wondered, a perplexed expression.
After a moment of standing there in silence they were then startled by the gate to the training ground opening. Followed by the chatter of Impa and the current queen of Hyrule.
So there they were perplexed by Lady Impa talking to the blonde and blue eyed queen. It wasn’t every often the queen herself would come visit the small village to begin with.
“Queen Eurydice?” They mumbled to themself, trying to figure out whatever could be the occurrence or event to prompt such a visit.
Once the Queen took notice of the kids she would smile at them. She was sweet and kind, and everyone could agree her smile warmed hearts and brightened rooms.
“You two have grown so much since the last time I've seen you both,” she spoke lovingly to them, as if they were her own kids. “Gam, it won’t be much longer till you are taller than even me,” she chuckled amusedly.
“I don’t know about that, your majesty” Gam would say simply, glancing away awkwardly. Though he already towered over kids his age, as a Gerudo it was likely he would be taller than most Hylians anyways.
“Oh come on now, you know it to be true,” Queen Eurydice chuckles and ruffles both of their heads. “And you (Name), You look like you’ve adapted well to living in Kakariko very well.”
“Yeah- Gam helped a lot with that,” they say sincerely with a smile. “The other kids are nice too, I think you were right about fitting in just fine,” they add bashfully.
“Good, I’m glad. Be sure to thank Impa too, when you get the chance. Both of you,” the Queen knew that without Impa’s generosity their fates would have been much unknown otherwise.
“Yes, ma’am!” They said in unison.
“Now, why don’t we catch up and have some afternoon tea,” Queen Eurydice turned to face Impa, a hand on her hip and a knowing smile. It seemed that even the stern Lady Impa couldn't deny the queen on such an offer.
“Very well. I’ll start the kettle.” Impa uncrossed her arms and sighed, a small smile appearing on her face.
Gam and (Name) exchanged looks as they wondered how the Queen was able to easily convince Impa to stall training for the day.
“Come on you two, let’s go set the table for her,” Eurydice nudged the two forward for them to get a move on.
And that was only the beginning of some of the most unlikely events of our young adventurers' lives.

6 & 7 for the fanfic ask! 💕
Thank you for the ask @cyraclove !
Favorite dialogue
Cool is relative in Gerudo. They find a shady spot but by the time they are done, he’s stripped off his shirt and they are both sweating. “You’re definitely stronger than when we first started,” she says, then gestures at the new scar on his abdomen. “What happened?”
He grabs his shirt and pulls it over his head “Redead.”
“A what?”
“It was something called a redead.”
“No, I’ve heard of them, but I thought…”
“They were stories? Nothing is stories.” he humphed. “Someday, we will just be stories, too.”
They both take a moment to wipe sand and dust off their respective weapons and sheath them. Link turns to Impa.
“Don’t you wonder how much control you have here? Does exactly what we do really matter at all here? Like, does it have to be me on this sword?”
Impa looks cautious. “The sword chose you, Link. You’re the only one who can wield it, and it's the only thing that kills Ganon.”
“But it doesn’t kill him. It just puts him away for a while until everyone forgets and then some other unlucky fools go through the cycle again. What’s the point?” he looks out across the sand for a minute. “What if I just said no, right now?”
Favorite description or narration
It might start as a waltz, but the box step grows sloppy and they close the distance between them until they are pressed together and simply swaying to some imagined beat. He moves his hand off her shoulder to the back of her head and brings her in to hungrily kiss her.
She does taste like wedding cake.
He spends the rest of the night making her call his name.
He stops going to his apartments at all at night after that. He isn’t sure what they are doing, and she doesn’t push to define it. No one seems to say anything about it. At nights they just spoon, or look at the stars on her balcony or read to each other. Sometimes they rattle her four poster.
Both of these passages are from my long fic Uneasy Lies the Chosen of Farore which was pretty much all I did this year!

@fxmiliarity asked: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Send 🌟 for a headcanon about our muses’ relationship | accepting
Tumblr media
Mun’s note: I posted this prompt, and Lane went and sent me 22 dang stars! I really don’t think they intended for me to in return write up 22 headcanons (or they didn’t expect that I’d actually do it). But here we are! I told myself I’d just do 10. I didn’t think 22 was possible (at least not in a day). But behold!
Yvaine has served as familiar to the reincarnations of the goddess for many life cycles. In Zelda’s studies, she has read of Yvaine, but I think there is a part of her that believed maybe it was just a legend (or exaggeration) or “But who’s to say this legendary familiar will show up this time.” So I imagine Zelda was very shocked/dumbfounded when she first meets Yvaine.
Side note that counts as its own headcanon, I also imagine Yvaine’s arrival was a very grand thing, even though she likely did not intend it to be such? Yvaine just has this demeanor/aura that she radiates, which honestly probably had some of Zelda’s court members stricken with fear at first and probably even had Zelda going “Wait! She’s real?! And she’s….standing…no not standing….TOWERING over me??” Like Yvaine just seems like the person thats presence demands attention when in the room. You just can’t help but to stop and notice her.
When they do finally meet and start to spend time around one another, Zelda enters this really weird internal battle of not knowing what to say to this legendary familiar that she thought may have been myth but also literally wanting to ask a million questions. Her internal monologue is “What do you say to this being that is wisened? Saged? (yes that’s an Iliza Shlesinger joke) She looks like she could step on me and probably has the experience to do so. But I also want to know about this….and this….oh and we can’t forget that….”
I know we’ve discussed this before, but once the contract is made and Zelda finds out? Not good. She’s going to feel so much guilt about it, and it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if she lashes out at Yvaine at first. She’d be very upset with Yvaine because she knew, but she didn’t warn her or try to stop it from happening. Eventually, she will come to terms with it, but she’s going to be very angry/upset with herself for a while so just….expect Zelda to avoid Yve and not talk to her for a while.
When they get into a relationship, Zelda will probably try to keep it hush hush for a while out of fear of what the court will say. Is it appropriate for a princess to fall for her familiar/body guard? Probably not. Plus, I think there’s a part of her that will want it to be just theirs for a while. She doesn’t want the court to know and meddle. She doesn’t want Impa or Link or the generals to find out and form their thoughts or make comments? She doesn’t want the kingdom of Hyrule to start looking to their queen and her new relationship. She just wants to have time to enjoy their time together for a bit without anyone’s input or interference.
But on the flip side of that, once they get into a relationship, Zelda will absolutely spoil Yvaine. She’s a bit reserved with her feelings, but once she falls she falls hard. She’s incredibly loyal. And she knows she’s lived a better life than most just because she happened to be born into a certain family — so anything she can do to make her love’s life easier/better, she will do it no questions asked. Plus, she’ll always view her partner as an equal, so she’ll think they’re worthy of being treated like a king/queen.
This isn’t really a headcanon. It’s more of just something I want but like....Zelda gets injured during battle or something and can’t walk (sprained ankle, too weak, been stabbed, whatever) and Yvaine just has Zelda get on her back so she can carry her back to camp. Yvaine is pretty much a giant, so just imagine how cute it would be seeing an injured Zelda getting a piggyback ride from Yvaine (and probably begrudgingly getting it at that).
When Yve struggles to fall asleep at night, Zelda will do anything to coax her into coming to lay down. Once she finally succeeds, she’ll just lay there and play with Yvaine’s hair for hours, hoping it’ll help her fall asleep because it always helped Zelda when she was growing up.
I think there are some moments, specifically when her and Yve get closer, that she forgets Yvaine is so much older than her. There are times where she’ll forget and have these thoughts of “You’re just a normal (as normal as can be) person like me.” And then she remembers and is like “Oh wait.....” (Also, remembering probably makes her sad sometimes because it’s the realization of “And you’re stuck going through this same cursed cycle as us....but you don’t even get the gift of forgetting the other lifetimes.”
Not a headcanon but an idea. Split timelines are a thing in Zelda, right? And if there’s any game that involves merging of timelines it’s Hyrule Warriors because we see characters from other games in on place. So....what if Zelda accidentally stumbles into an alternate timeline and finds the Yvaine from that timeline? I don’t know but now I can’t get this idea out of my head.
Zelda can be very stubborn. 100% people (who are close to her) have cracked jokes at her along the lines of “I don’t know who is more fiery and hot-tempered. The dragon or you?”
In the AU we discussed where Zelda can remember all her past lives? The moment she finally unlocks those memories and sees Yvaine for the first time, she immediately breaks down into tears.
This one’s based off another conversation we had: Zelda thinks Yvaine’s cooking is even better than the cook’s at the castle. Their cooking is great, but if given the choice she’d choose whatever Yvaine is making.
Zelda taunts/teases Yve a lot when they’re sparring/training together. I don’t imagine it works well since Yvaine seems like the type to compose herself really well, especially when she knows what the princess is doing. But it doesn’t keep Zelda from trying.
Zelda? Using any excuse to pair up with Yvaine as her second when the army has to split up for different missions? Absolutely.
I have decided that Zelda will 100% start calling her Cassiopeia as a pet name/term of endearment. The explanation I provided for it, which can be found here, is just too perfect for me to not stick with this.
Hyrule Warriors Zelda isn’t as....ritzy as some of her previous incarnations. She’s not as into the lavish balls and stuff, probably because so much of her focus is on Hyrule’s forces and keeping the kingdom safe. But you can bet she uses these events as an opportunity to strut around on Yve’s arm and show her off. Yes, show Yve off, not the other way around.
Zelda knows how to play the lyre, and if you think she hasn’t written a song either about Yvaine or for Yvaine, then you’re definitely wrong. Lullabies are a big thing to Zelda, and Yvaine has trouble sleeping, so Zelda has definitely come up with a lullaby on her lyre to play for Yvaine.
I imagine that if Zelda is ever feeling down in regards to her powers (not feeling strong or having issues with her light magic), Yvaine tries to encourage Zelda by talking about Hylia, focusing on how amazing and strong Hylia was and reminding Zelda that she is the goddess reincarnate.
They’re a war couple. They go marching off to battle often, and while Zelda is used to that, it’s still a bit nerve-wracking to think the people she loves are going into a fight that could be life or death for them (even though Yve can’t truly die). But I imagine after the first incident that prompts Zelda to finally confess her feelings, she eventually has a special amulet made (probably something fused with light magic) that she gives to Yvaine as a sort of protection charm to keep her safe. Just something to give Zelda some extra peace of mind.
Once Zelda finds out what Yve’s favorite color is, she tries to find ways to incorporate it into her clothing more (because there’s just something super appealing about seeing your significant other wearing your favorite color). This is actually super easy for Zelda to subtly get away with since the color plum goes so well with her royal attire anyway.
I need to think through this idea and flesh it out more, but I imagine sometime after the events of Hyrule Warriors, Zelda is presented a new rapier that has ‘dragon’ somewhere in the name and was inspired by Yvaine, being that she’s a dragon familiar.

Wild SSBU guessing
Just taking wild stabs at characters that might or might not make the roster. Most of these will be some of the popular characters that people have wanted in Smash 4 (as we’ve seen with Daisy, Ridley, Chrom, Dark Samus, and King K. Rool).
First, Echo Fighters of currently-confirmed fighters.
- Ninten (Ness): Likely uses Lucas’s PK Freeze for the standard special, since EarthBound Beginnings doesn’t have PK Flash. - Special moves: PK Freeze, PK Fire, PK Thunder, PSI Magnet - Final Smash: PK Beam Gamma - Black Shadow (Captain Falcon): I’m...not sure how to differentiate him enough from Ganondorf. Maybe just make him mostly like Melee Ganondorf? - Special moves: Shadow Punch, Dark Boost, Evil Dive, Wicked Kick - Final Smash: Black Bull - Impa (Sheik): Hopefully Skyward Sword design so she can use that blue energy to generate her tools. - Special moves: similar to Sheik’s specials - Final Smash: same as Sheik - Shadow (Sonic): Looking hopeful with Richter’s big reveal. Maybe use Chaos energy to expand the reach of his attacks - they could also be slower but stronger. Up special could be a teleport, like from Mewtwo or Palutena. - Special moves: Homing Attack, Spin Dash, Chaos Warp, Spin Charge - Final Smash: Chaos Blast - Celica (Robin): Main differences I can see are: use only Beloved Zofia (better than Bronze Sword, but weaker than Levin Sword), magic in special moves and weak attacks do some damage to herself, and use a variant of Marth’s Counter with Plenitude for refilling health. - Special moves: Ragnarok (like Arcthunder without charge), Seraphim (like Arcfire), Excalibur (pretty much just Elwind), Plenitude - Final Smash: Ragnarok Omega - Octoling (Inkling): The only real difference would be weapons. I’ll guess Octo Shot (which is exactly the same as a Splattershot, really), Octobrush, Range Blaster, Bloblobber (to add range to the smash attacks), Carbon Roller (faster than Splat Roller, but can’t bury), and Burst Bomb (explodes on contact with anything). - Special moves: Octo Shot, Carbon Roller, Super Jump, Burst Bomb - Final Smash: Tenta Missiles (works like Snake’s FS)
Now general newcomers (with possible Echo Fighters to go with them).
- Paper Mario: People have wanted him for the longest time. - He could take cues from all his starring games. Maybe Spin Smash, Tornado Jump, and Quake Hammer for smash attacks... - The spin dash from the first Paper Mario as a dash attack... - Specials moves: Hurlhammer, Paper Plane, Spring Jump, ??? - Final Smash: Fan Thing (mash button for more damage, like in Sticker Star and Color Splash) - Geno: Many found it suspect that the Geno costume in Smash 4′s DLC season got a special mention. Perhaps it’s a step closer to making Geno playable? Or Assist Trophy, but we all know what the people want. - Could be a projectile normal user for some attacks, like with Villager. - Special moves: Geno Beam, Geno Whirl, Geno Blast, Geno Boost - Final Smash: Geno Flash - Bandanna Dee: Popularity card. - Could primarily use his Spear, but might use some Parasol moves as well (like in Kirby Battle Royale). - Special moves: Spear Throw, Circus Throw (grab), Spear Copter, Parasol Twirl - Final Smash: Megaton Punch - Gardevoir: Some leak a month ago predicted King K. Rool, Richter, and Dark Samus (under Samus, he said) in some demo build, along with code names for “Mario2“, Gardevoir, and Gothitelle. Could have been coincidence, but I’ll humor it. Gardevoir does have the popularity card, after all, and can fill in that Gen-3 niche in the roster. - Side smash could be a “small black hole“, with a vacuum effect that draws foes in before sending them flying. - Special moves: Future Sight, Dazzling Gleam, Trick Room, Reflect - Final Smash: Moonblast (Mega Evolves) - Echo Fighter: Gothitelle: This would also fill the Gen-5 niche, I think. And this wouldn’t be the first time Gardevoir and Gothitelle were seen together (Black/White anime, with Anthea and Concordia). - Special moves: Future Sight, Dark Pulse, Trick Room, Reflect - Final Smash: Shattered Psyche - Primarina: Not ignoring the Gen-7 niche, either. Honestly, this could be any of the Alolan starters, but I personally REALLY want Primarina the most. - Special moves: Sparkling Aria, Disarming Voice, Aqua Jet, Icy Wind - Sparkling Aria could generate some water balloons, which Primarina can send flying around with attacks, footstool jump off of, or detonate by using Sparkling Aria again. - Disarming Voice would be a projectile. If it makes contact with a water balloon, it can split into three projectiles through it. - Icy Wind would push foes at mid-range, or freeze them at close-range. - Final Smash: Oceanic Operetta - Alm: Not a high priority, but since Ultimate brought in the lead three of Awakening, then I don’t think I could guess Celica without Alm as well. - He always has a shield, so he could use that for some super-armored normal attacks. And he might be heavier than any other Fire Emblem fighter (since he’s in full armor all the time). One special could also use a bow (which he can use as a Hero/Conqueror). - Special moves: Double Lion, Hunter Volley, Windsweep, Pavise - Pavise here isn’t a counter, but a shield bash that can parry direct attacks, leaving foes open, and maybe also nullify projectiles. - Final Smash: Scendscale - Isabelle: Popularity card. Though I’m not sure what she’d do...Maybe set things around the arena, like small buildings? - Rex: Xenoblade 2 development started in mid-2014, so there must have been plenty of time to acquire him, I’m sure. - Pyra/Mythra might not be on-stage all the time - just for certain moves, like smash attacks and throws (kinda like with Peach’s Toad). But since Rex can change their form in battle, he could use this to become a sort of stance-change fighter. - Pyra’s version of the Aegis Sword could focus on damage and range, while Mythra’s version focuses on attack speed and launch power. - Smash attacks can use Pyra and Mythra’s Blade Specials. - Side smash: Flame Nova/Lightning Buster - Up smash: Blazing End/Photon Edge - Down smash: Prominence Revolt/Ray of Punishment - Special moves: Anchor Shot (grab), Rolling Smash, Crushing Typhoon (with Roc), Blade Switch - Final Smash: Chain Attack - Wonder-Red: Popularity card. Also, there’s already two Wonderful 101 tracks in the game, so why not? - His main feature could be Unite Charge to buff up his Unite Hand’s power for certain moves, like smash attacks, throws, and at least one special. Using these moves, or taking too much damage, will weaken the duration of Unite Hand’s current level. - Smash attacks could be based on Wonderful Stinger, Wonderful Rising, and Wonderful Cyclone. A full-charged smash attack with max Unite Charge level could be dangerously powerful. - Special moves: Unite Hand Flame, Team Unite Morph, Wonder-Jump, Unite Charge - Team Unite Morph can cycle between Wonder-Red’s allies to summon for different effects (or hold to cycle through faster). - Wonder-Blue’s Unite Sword can use a broad reflecting slash. - Wonder-Green’s Unite Gun can fire a few projectiles. - Wonder-Pink’s Unite Whip can reel a foe in closer. - Wonder-Yellow’s Unite Hammer can deal a strong meteor smash. - Wonder-White’s Unite Claw can trap foes in a rapid claw combo. - Wonder-Black’s Unite Bomb can inflict slow status on foes. - Final Smash: Wonderful Forever - Spring Man: Eh, might as well throw this one in. He seems to be one of the more expected Switch characters to join, though also one of the most controversial. - Weak attack might operate differently, by throwing one ARM forth at a time and returning as soon as it hits a foe. You can throw the other ARM out while the other one is flying, and you can repeat this for a while. - Strong attacks could have variable range depending on whether you tap or hold the button. Tap deals a fast close-range punch, and hold deals a long-range punch with more power at the apex. - Smash attacks could use the Megaton ARM. Charge determines how far out it goes. - Special moves: Boomerang ARM, Grappling ARMS (grab), Bounce-Back, ARMS Charge - Boomerang ARM can be curved tightly on input. - ARMS Charge will give a temporary boost to Spring Man’s ARM attacks with different effects. The standard Toasty ARMS for his normal attacks gain damage power, the Boomerang ARM gains launch power, and the Megaton ARM becomes larger and stronger. - ARMS Charge itself can emit a shockwave to repel most attacks and let him drop quickly in midair. - Final Smash: Rush Attack - Echo Fighter: Ribbon Girl: I’ve seen so many people want Ribbon Girl either instead of Spring Man, as an alt of Spring Man, or with Spring Man. Well, with Echo Fighters, the latter could happen. - Main difference, I think, would be her Sparky ARMS and Slapamander ARM. Sparky ARMS, with ARMS Charge, wouldn’t gain damage but a light paralyzing effect. Slapamander wouldn’t curve as tightly as Boomerang, but its hitbox would be big, and its ARMS Charge effect would be extra damage. - Also, her ARMS Charge wouldn’t have the shockwave, but she could drop down even faster. - Special moves: Slapamander ARM, Grappling ARMS (grab), Bounce-Back, ARMS Charge - Final Smash: Rush Attack
And finally, a few third-party characters that I expect will be big picks.
- Shantae: With Shovel Knight in the Assist Trophies, I think Shantae is the biggest indie pick now. And WayForward has publicly given support for Shantae for Smash. - Banjo-Kazooie: There’s quite a bit of Rare stuff in Smash now - King K. Rool, Klaptrap, and Krystal in her Adventures appearance. So this duo seems quite likely. The support has also been given Microsoft’s blessings. - Sora: ...I mean, if Disney allows it, then he could happen. He’s been requested ever since Brawl, after all. But I suppose Final Fantasy would take first priority for Square-Enix in Smash - now that Cloud’s in, anything else from them goes, I guess. - Since I know so much about Kingdom Hearts, I can actually think of some Smash moves for Sora. He’s got a lot of combo steps that he can use for normal attacks and stuff. - Special moves: Strike Raid, Tornado Strike, Flowmotion, Ragnarok - Final Smash: Salvation - Echo Fighter: Riku: My wildest Echo Fighter guess, I know. Still, the two games where Riku co-starred with Sora as a playable hero debuted on Nintendo handhelds, so that could be enough significance to make him an Echo? - Special moves: Spark Raid, Gravity Strike, Flowmotion, Dark Firaga - Final Smash: Dark Aura - Amaterasu: Just another Kamiya pick thrown in just because. Okami was pretty popular on Wii and now Switch, after all, and I’ve seen her requested a lot. - She’ll likely just attack with Divine Retribution for most of her moves, but could use the Devout Beads Rosary and the Tsumugari Glaive for a few other attacks, along with Power Slash. - Special moves: Firestorm, Cherry Bomb, Greensprout, Solar Flare - With Firestorm, draw a path to set off a trail of fire. Or, draw an infinity symbol around Amaterasu to use Inferno, a strong attack focused around Amaterasu’s vicinity. - Greensprout has different effects on the ground and in the air. On the ground, it grows a small tree in front to block attacks. In the air, it uses a vine and a Konohana Blossom to pull Amaterasu to safety. - Solar Flare is primarily a reflecting move, but if it intercepts a direct attack right at the start, she’ll counterattack with an explosive flare. - Final Smash: Sunrise (might be somewhat like Rosalina & Luma’s Power Star)
...And, that is my nonsensical ramble on characters I’d like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Obviously, I don’t expect ALL of these in. Just some of them, at least.

Another #Nintendoswitch game I want but not sure if it will exist:
Hyrule, legendless.
Dispute what Game theorists or others might say, I have my own theories about Breath of the Wilds time line placement.
#spoilers, just in case.
But to me it makes sense that with all the references in every nook and cranny in hyrule, it just makes sense to me that Breath of the Wilds is where all the time lines converge.
Keep in mind that when you introduce the complicated nonsense of I'm travel into your media...it's easy for things to go to hell in a hand basket. We see this in self contained senarios throughout hyrule history: Orcarina, Majora's Mask, AND skyward sword are just examples of games with ridiculous time traveling wackiness. Never mind in how breath of the Wilds, the very premonitions of the seer that told how to fight Gannon, is exactly what allowed Gannon to take over. Sometimes seeing or playing with time to avoid an event is what CAUSES it. (Prequel Starwars movies Anikin Style).
The idea that with so many references and ret cons and Yada Yada leading up to some version of breath of the wild happens in EVERY time line, or all time lines, makes sense. And this is really the only time line theory that could accept temporal parodoxes (like ALL the dlc swag) and still be coherent. Well, coherent as the Canon of 30 year plus game series can be.
It maakes further sense that if what pushed Gannon to stop renicarnating was he was aware he was losing ACROSS TIMELINES. Like, it's one thing to lose. It's another thing to be confronted wih the idea that no matter what happens, even if you SUCCEED here or there, you'd still lose. That makes Gannon motivation to break a cycle HE STARTED AS DEMISE (in skyward sword). He wasn't winning. Change the strategy. We KNOW he changes up the strategy from different incarnations in games already, and he has ridiculous powers cause ridiculous science/magic universe is ridiculous. AND it's his change up of strategy AGAIN that allows for Breath of the wild to even HAPPEN.
Plus, on the notes about the maps being inaccurate. "Legend" of Zelda. LEGEND. Impa makes on off hand comment when explaining the legend to you that "many legends of Gannon have been passed through the ages." How do we know what you play as is the RETELLING of the legends, and not just what factually happens?
I mean, it sounds like a narative cop out, but we are talking about 30 plus years of multiple games recorded and created on changing tech over DECADES. The idea there aren't rewrites or concept changes or thing they wanted to do but couldn't makes sense, and makes sense in game because you are playing a mythical character in a mythical setting. The idea that there wouldn't be parts to the story missing, or parts you don't experince (not everyone is a complitionist) would make sense for telling an arch this way.
So with all that, you have fragments of history you compile together to make sense of grand, confusing, illogical happenings that lead to one final battle, the precious of the series. Where the villain has abandoned humanity, the cycle is broken, and you defeat the dark lord for he last time. A thing foretold since before the cycles beginning, and after its end.
Why did I go on his big rant about why I think breath of the Wilds to be he last game on all time lines?
Really, I want a sequel to hyrule OUTSIDE of the cycle.
Gannon ' s dead. Thousands of years of history and struggle are over. What happens? What becomes of hyrule after the curse is broken? And the Demise or the world can no longer rise??
Well, there's theories and bustling that the original Zelda game's concept was supposed to be like chrono trigger. Hoping between time periods. Not just a medeaval fantasy, but one with modern or futuristic elements too. Not having the at the time, or other groups doing it better, makes sense how we got something else. World's with scince/magic and occasional time hoping world shifting, rather than actual time shift hoping. Like chrono trigger.
TL;DR: I think breath of the Wilds is the sequel to all time lines, and this is what I want in a potential, "post demise cycle" sequel:
-contemporary, modern, or futuristic hyrule
-Open world
-because the cycle is over, there's not a need for the hero and goddess per sé. Zelda and link still get reincarnated, but either:
It stars them and they are either completely normal folks without powers who must save the day/ must rekindle their powers over time
It stars a new character (character building and race choosing possibly???)
-bad guys using stories, data, and tech to read create old evils for their own needs. Either they want to take over the world/ make money by selling things people will buy to kill each other.
-leads to bringing old bosses and enemies back, but in a half tech/zombie half original form. (Imagine Ghriam, Zant, Majora, Yiga, twinrova or other villains brought back in a calamity Ganon kind of way, but be able to retain their personalities and things that made the unique more).
-villain ISN'T Gannon, Ganondorf, demise. It's a person who WANTS to be him, and you prevent them from doing so, able to truly move on from the past.
-you have to find, research, collect, and return certain relics as an archologist student/ hero to stop the big bads
-Open world
-weapons that were hinted at with sheka the now usable (chainsaws, there is one in breath of the wild) and motorbikes
-more outfits

some fic ideas if you're still taking them: **link kinda looks forward to the red moon. It's bittersweet cause he is in more danger but at the same time at least he gets to hear her voice and knowing she is alright (and hearing her being worried abt him) makes him feel some comfort. **link and zelda adopt a puppy or a big dog (just the idea of them having dogs, they would be that kinda couple no doubt about it)
Hey hey hey, I could only pick one prompt to work on and I went with the angst of the Blood Moons. Don’t worry though, I will be writing something about BOTW Link and Zelda adopting a dog in the future (because that idea is to cute to drop) so keep your eyes peeled for that xxx
(This one ended up being quite short, sorry)
And now without further ado
“…
 Link…
Link…
Be on your guard.
Ganon’s power grows… it rises to its peak under the hour of the blood moon.
By its glow, the aimless spirits of monsters slain in the name of the light return to flesh.
 Link…
 Please be careful”
He’d been out in the wilderness the first time he had witnessed the blood moon rise. The sky turned a deep purple, the moon a dark red. Malice hung in the air and every hair on his body stood up in fright.
Then her voice, her beautiful calming voice, cut through the darkness like an arrow of light. While the words she said were terrifying, Ganon was only getting stronger, her voice reminded him that he wasn’t fighting alone.
He clung onto that moment, desperately trying to remember why that voice felt so familiar. And then it was gone.
The Moon shone like desert bleached bones against the black velvet sky, the scent of fresh fallen rain washed away the odor of blood, and the malice evaporated and the air was fresh.
And the Hero was alone once more.
A month passed, and the Hero found himself in Kakariko village.
He’d arrived a week ago, exhausted and covered in blood. He’d practically collapsed into Paya’s arms as she came to meet him. The poor woman had been horrified to see his Hylian tunic stained and torn.
“You should see the other guy” he had assured her, leaning against her in an attempt to straighten himself up. Paya had led him to her grandmother, and he was offered a place to rest while he recuperated. She had stayed by his bed, pressing a cold rag against his head as he murmured and mumbled about electric Lizalfos and blue Bokoblins. She comforted him, waiting for his strength to return.
By the third day, Link had found his strength had returned enough for him to take short walks in the village. He spent his days cooking with Cottla and Koko, practicing his archery, and sitting at the foot of Ta’loh Naeg shrine watching the clouds.
It was at the foot of the shrine that he felt it. The air turning sour and heavy. He’d stayed out much later than normal, loosing himself in the patterns made by the stars. He had been about to leave, to head back to the Matriarchs home and assure his friends that he was safe, when the sky got dark.
He recognized it. The sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach, the terror coursing through his veins. Casting his frightened gaze towards the moon, his blood ran cold. The normally friendly Luna sight was stained a deep blood red.
He wanted to run, to jump off the cliff he was standing on and flee to safety. But fear petrified him. The air seemed to suffocate him, pure hatred and malice fell from the sky like ashes from a blazing fire.
He collapsed to his knees, praying for the blood moon to disappear. To return to his relaxed days of cooking with the children and sitting in silence with Paya.
And then, he heard her. Her soft voice breaking through the terror, freeing him from his invisible bonds.
“The Blood Moon rises once again” she warned, the caring tone in her voice soothing the young Hero. “Please…be careful Link”
And like that it was over. The colour drained from the land, only the blue light of the ancient shrine behind him was visible. Link was alone upon the cliff top.
Be careful Link the words echoed around in his head. Be careful. Could it be? Could it be that the owner of the beautiful, mysterious, voice cared for him? Link wasn’t sure but the thought strengthened his heart.
Impa said the voice belonged to the princess.
It would make sense Link thought. The voice was definitely regal, an undercurrent of authority ran through the words. But there was something that didn’t feel right. Link had always imagined the Princess to sound older, to sound harsher, to be more stern and deliberate with her choice of words. He never expected for his Princess to sound so … scared.
He brushed the thought off immediately. Impa must be wrong he concluded, the voice had to be that of a fairy or a goddess! For no mortal could sound so heavenly. Only a divine creature could chase away the darkness of the Blood Moon
Though the thought still lingered…. Maybe Impa was right.
Months came and went, each new lunar cycle brought about another Blood Moon. And the Blood Moons brought him her voice.
Each terrifying night concealed a gift. The gift of knowing that the holder of the voice was safe, that she was persisting in times filled with malice and bloodshed It brought a warmth to his tired and battle weary heart.
He came to savour the precious seconds each month, when he could hear her musical voice call out to him, begging him to be careful, warning him of the imminent dangers. In those seconds he didn’t feel alone. In those beautiful seconds he could imagine she was standing with him.
Link realised very quickly that he had fallen in love with the holder of the voice.
If she is a goddess or a fairy I’m only setting myself up for heartbreak he warned himself, watching as the moon was wiped clean of it’s bloody hue.
He continued on his trek, Impa had told him that he must free the Divine Beasts. A heavy burden for one such as he who still knew nothing about his life before. The Old King had told him he was a brave knight cut down in the heat of battle, The Ancient Sheikah had told him he was the princesses only confidant. But he had little proof for either of these claims! All he knew was that he woke up one day, in a place surrounded by trees and wildlife, and was immediately expected to start saving Hyrule. A Kingdom that hadn’t existed in 100 years.
Not for the first time, Link wished that he could hear the voice again. The voice that had woken him from his cursed sleep, the voice that calmed him during the rise of the Blood Moons. He missed the musical tone, the angelic soprano that eased him in his darkest times.
His surrounding began to look familiar, he noted as he carried on. He was walking next to a lake, the clear waters lapping against the wet sand. A sparse forest bordered the waters, white trees reaching for the sky. In the distance Link could see the Dueling peaks, the twin mountains that touched the clouds.
A strange feeling began beating in Link’s heart. With shaking hands he unhooked the sheikah slate from his hip. The Princess left me pictures he told himself searching through the album pictures she hoped would regain my memory.
Finally he found it, the matching skyline.
Suddenly his vision went white, his senses deserting him. In a moment of blind panic Link almost dropped the artifact in his grasp. Then sight returned to him.
He was walking behind a woman. The same sand crunching under his boots, he wore a tunic of pale blue, and on his back he felt the weight of the sacred blade.
“From here, we’ll make our way to Goron city” the woman said. He noticed she was holding the slate, He wasn’t sure why but she seemed… familiar. Almost as if he had met her before. Her face was hidden from him so he couldn’t be sure, but there was something about the way she spoke that made him trust her.
“Then we’ll need to make some adjustments on that Divine Beast so that Daruk can manage it as easily as possible” Who’s Daruk? He wanted to ask, What Divine Beast? But his words failed him.
“He’s figured out how to get it too move” Good for him “However it’s apparent that we still have much more to learn.
“But to think, that Divine Beast was actually built by people…” Link couldn’t miss the wonderment in her tone, He felt himself get swept up in her excitement. Even though he had yet to see a Divine Beast in person, he somehow knew that they were something to behold.
“That means we should be able to understand how it works and use it to our advantage.” Link wished she’d turn around. It was becoming maddening! He wanted to see her, to know who this achingly familiar woman was in front of him.
“These Divine Beasts… so much we don’t know… But if we want to turn back the Calamity Ganon, they’re our best hope”
She began to slow, coming to a stop at the water’s edge. Link fell into step behind her, keeping his distance. He could see her hands tighten around the slate, and he braced himself for what would happen next.
“Tell me the truth…” She whispered, moving her head to stare over her shoulder. Link was caught by how beautiful she was. The setting sun shining behind her, cast a golden halo around her head. She looks like a goddess he thought, taking in the sad look in her soft emerald eyes
“How proficient are you right now, wielding that sword on your back? Legend says that an ancient voice resonates inside it. Can you hear it yet… Hero?”
The world faded into white once again. And Link found himself standing where he had been before. The slate held firmly in his grasp.
It was a memory
His heart felt heavy, and he realized too late just  how he knew her voice.
The next Blood Moon rose as he expected it. The air became thick with evil. It seemed the closer he was to the castle, the more potent and poisonous the environment became.
He was standing in the entrance to the Woodland Stables, watching and waiting as the moon took its place in the sky. He’d long since stopped feeling fear at the rise. The other guests hid, taking shelter from the purple sky, the hero paid them no heed, stepping out into the acrid atmosphere.
“The blood moon rises once again” She told him, his chest feeling light at the sound of her voice. She was alright. She was holding out against the Calamity.
“Please… be careful Link”
“I will… Zelda” He promised “I will” He felt the air turn lighter, a silver tear trailing down his cheek.
He turned and walked back into the stable. He would hear from her again at the rise of the next Blood Moon.

I got tagged to do a thing by @allfullmetal! It’s a lot like the one I did a minute ago but I’m procrastinating so what the heck, I’ll do another.
Name: Allie
Gender: female
Star sign: Scorpio
Height: 5′7
Hogwarts House: CERTIFIED HUFFLEPUFF
Favorite colors: blue is my very favorite, but I really like purple and green too.
Favorite animals: cats, dogs, horses, goats, and a lot of others.
Time right now: 4:24pm
Average hours of sleep: 6 usually. 8 if I'm lucky.
Cat person or dog person: Both!
Favorite fictional characters: Here’s the list from the other one I just did: Link, Zelda, and Impa from LoZ, Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Winry Rockbell, and Olivier Mira Armstrong from FMAB, Mathias, Constance, Basil, Gingevere, Cregga, Triss, Rose, and literally all the Badger Lords from Redwall, Yoshi from any Nintendo game that has him in it, the entire Gaang from ATLA, Team Avatar from LoK, the entire Yuri On Ice cast, Asuna from SAO (before they ruined her character by making her totally dependent on Kirito), Mulan, Saphira from The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon), Éowyn and The whole main cast of LotR,  Hermione from Harry Potter, and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Wow that got long, haha. I have more but I’m too tired to list the rest.
Number of blankets I sleep with: A LOT
Favorite Musicians: That’s honestly too hard to answer.
Dream trip: probably Japan.
Dream job: Creature design in games or movies.
When was this blog created: I honestly don't remember.
When did your blog reach its peak: Well if we’re talking about most popular posts I made a post about Markiplier a month or so ago and he reblogged it and I think it’s at 6,000 something notes.
Current number of followers: 258
What do you post: A TON of FMA and Zelda. There’s a lot of other stuff mixed in there.
Who made you join Tumblr: I just decided to make one.
Why did you choose your url: Because Zelda owns my soul.
I’ll tag @aheartmadefullmetal16, @interesting-url24, @im-too-obsessed-with-stuff, @girlwiththeairbendertattoo, and anyone else who wants to do this!
