I don’t see anyone talking about how Metias (and even June) was whitewashed in the comics… the book says he has dark skin and how he’s mainly NATIVE AMERICAN 😭 now ik being indigenous doesn’t automatically make u have darker skin but it literally says that he does come ON! (And June is his sister although they just say her skin is tanned which can mean a variety of different types of skin colors)

I love that all of the dungeon meshi crew are complicated and have difficult to love components. #But Izutsumi is a particular kind of hard to love. I foresee a lot of people being turned off by her abrasiveness and lack of teamwork. #She is very self-centered and openly goes against what the party agrees on. #She's a picky eater in a story that is 50% about eating good and healthy food! #It is in part about her growth but admittedly even *then* she remains rather true to her self-centeredness. #Even though she isn't as nice or funny or compassionate as the others...Izutsumi is still someone worth loving. #Even the more difficult people are someone worth loving. #And those people in turn are people who have something and someone they love. #She may be a girlcat but she is the most human of them all. #I hope that if you are an anime only watcher and are feeling put off by her at the moment; you'll give her a chance. #By the way: *yes* I worked very hard to draw that skateboard pose. Am I the only one that can't stop thinking about how Tianlang-Jun says about Luo Binghe that he pretends to be cold-hearted like his mother. The hint of fondness there, the heartache in that utterance.

Like it drives me absolutely insane. Imagining her putting on a front of strength, cold and driven and unrelenting. Why does TLJ say that about her. Did she secretly look for solutions that meant reconciling with demons instead of hurting them when her sect wasn't looking? (I wonder this because I feel like his weird fondness for SQQ would lowkey track if it's connected to the woman he once loved.) Did he mean that she was tasked with basically assassinating him and she fell in love with him instead (re: failed step one)? Did he mean that she was fond and doting in her own way (e.g. conceding he was attractive, paying for his exploits and humoring him)? Did he mean that, like LBH, she thought that power would be the thing to protect her--and that it was disguising a person who was deeply and privately wounded? All four????? Did she try to use that claim on her to dissuade HHPM from his covetous advances, framing herself as tainted so that she could finally escape? not done talking ab fhjy actually so i'll just say some of you guys who go on about how you could've done better themes and narrative arcs can't even think critically about the one in front of you.

i do wish that the other bad kids had interacted with their foils more this season because it was fun seeing them trade insults, but i also dont think it would've done much for them. i mean, people forget the tbks did try to turn reuben early on (they literally saved him from grix even though it was his fault he showed up trying to kill people). adaine thought oisin was cool and tbks were onboard with thinking maybe he wasn't that bad, and then he sent his grandma to murder them and their entire school. fabian tried to get an 'in' with ivy and it nearly cost him a genuine relationship with a character who had a way better chance of helping them figure things out without the risk of being betrayed. kipperlilly had an ego-driven hateboner for riz since BEFORE the rage stars and killed her own party member in cold blood just to stick it to kristen, and you're telling me that she could've been my little ponyied into giving up her chance to squash the symbol of all her inadequacy? buddy and maryann are the only rat grinders who havent fucked them over meaningfully and guess what? they're not thrilled about having to kill them- they're actively avoiding targeting them! almost like theyre capable of distinguishing between someone not on their side and someone who's proved to be a threat!

brennan made it pretty clear that trying to befriend trgs in their rage forms was futile and actively punished it ingame. you can have your opinions of that, but it definitely had a narrative point: if you get rage starred, you cant be 'this isnt youuuu'd out of it. you think ONLY of rage, and rage can't be reasoned with. it's arguably worse than death, bc at least someone can revivify you and there's no lasting consequences. think about how hard brennan was trying to push the ihs into taking rage tokens. he knew exactly how dire he'd made the consequences and that was on purpose. the season has no stakes if you can just talk your way out of being rage starred bc tbks could save each other easily. the whole climax literally can't happen if trgs arent being evil bc porter can't be a living god of rage without followers. tbks hating trgs isnt a flaw in the story: it IS the story.

Been thinking about the X-Files recently. A show I have a hazy, but fond memory of.

But I believe in my heart it's true.' #Its about having faith and trust in each other! They might not always agree either but they have each other's backs! #Scully is 100% the one that kills the spiders in the relationship. Buddy wasn’t supposed to die. Buddy was supposed to open his briefcase, find six or seven missing diamonds, go “oh no”, planeshift away and right into the arms of his party.

Regardless of whether he knew or didn’t know about the plan (I’m leaning more toward didn’t know because the angst aspect of Buddy not knowing who killed him is absolutely off the charts IF he ever comes back), Buddy wasn’t supposed to die. If the plan went right, the proctor would die, the bad kids would fall, and Buddy would have to go get more diamonds.

And depending on how you see it, Buddy will panic. He might go to Oisin, who has the entire party with him of course and beg him for seven diamonds because where else could he go? All of his are missing. And Oisin goes “hey it’s okay I’ll give them to you, but I want to see what’s going on to make you panic” and they all go the Last Stand.

The Bad Kids, in debt to the Rat Grinders? Fallen from so far off their “high horse.” And maybe even getting expelled, depending on their scores, which are right there. By a dead proctor’s hands, a word half-spelled and dried?

Well, doesn’t that just make Kippperlilly’s plan for being president even easier?

I wonder what the kids and teachers in luz's school think of her now. Shes stopped "terrorizing" other kids, mainly because she seems to have stopped engaging with most of her classmates period. It’s been literally so long since Fire Emblem 3H came out. At this point, I’m a hair away from assuming people who say Rhea was running around murdering people of other religions are being intellectually dishonest. We have multiple support conversations just saying entirely uncryptically that she doesn’t do this, and we never even see strong evidence that she does? She executed people for active blasphemy and attempted assassination, it’s just that the context made her ruthless (the people executed were clearly pawns, scared, and suffering too) which is why the scenes depict her as cutthroat. But to say she’s killed people because they just casually didn’t think Sothis was real is more than just simplifying— it’s just incorrect. It’s because these people ultimately threatened the juggling act Rhea is doing to prevent another grand scale war and triggered her because they messed with things she considers sacred, final reminders of her mother.

It’s just so weird because I used to post like screenshots and STATEMENTS FROM THE WRITERS that confirm all this in no uncertain language and people would be like doing extreme mental gymnastics to explain why “Rhea doesn’t care that I don’t believe in Sothis” and “Rhea did what she did to prevent war” are not clear statements. I mean, I am so chill with having different takes on characters from people or viewing characters as more or less sympathetic. That involves personal code and ethics. But with 3H, I hit this wall where I’m like.. when do we admit that, for you, this conversation is not about actually understanding the character?

I swear, some people need to go take a break, grab a latte, and privately come to terms with their irl beefs with the Catholic Church before engaging with this game. Because, my friends, I do not have the ability or strength to shoulder/accommodate your external opinions on a real religion on top of my analyses of the motives of the green haired dragonfolk.
