i find it interesting that a lot of people will just default ellie and dina as the assumed endgame for a lot of fanworks because its painfully clear that that part of ellie's life is over. shes not going back to jackson and dina nor tommy will be taking her back. as far as shes concerned neither one wants to see her face ever again, and reconciling the circumstances of her disappearance with her estrangement from joel, shes going to be stubborn as ever and never see them again. if they do, it would be in passing . i've seen the leaks and her future is bleak- not to say that it doesn't have its moments and new opportunities 4 her but the 2nd game very clearly established that her jackson era had to come to an end as a vital step in her ending/grief and some misplaced penance on her part for what she did. at the conclusion of the 2nd game, ellie has faced her greatest fear of being alone, and her new journey- whatever that entails, must begin. as much as i love their relationship and jj, it had to end, and ellie was an asshole to dina during several parts of their relationship. i think the sentiment to inculde them as a happy couple in art and writing is a nice one- but one that has as much a chance to coming to fruition as ellie and riley.
