i’ve been super busy this month so i’m about (checks date) 15 days late to the progress report, but…

before i get to leyley’s dialogue here, i want to say that i love the inside of wherever this is. is this part of the abandoned factory? is this just somewhere they found? i also see a hammer that stands out, and a particular door that’s boarded up. break in!!!

i wonder if this is a genuinely flashback or a dream sequence? if it’s a dream, whose? we’ve seen both andrew and ashley have dreams about their past (ashley when the game starts episode one, and andrew when he falls asleep at their parents’ house), and from the devlogs, we know that we’re going to see a whole lot more of their past with the next update!! so, i wonder who this moment is important to?

anyway. leyley suggesting they start a shooting spree in a church is very in-character for her. i don’t think i have to ask how she got there or why, because she’s just kind of… like that. we see that same behavior when they’re going back to the hotel room to lure the cultist out:

the second image we have is this:

ashley is in some cultist’s apartment? house? …where’s andrew? did they break in? probably not, considering the ritual on the floor being up and ready to go. is andrew around, or is it just ashley here? was she invited? did she invite herself? did they attend another cultist event??

the rune on the floor here is different from the runes we’ve seen previously!! the one in the first cultist’s house is your standard pentagram with five smaller pentagrams around it. the second one, at the cultist party, is also a pentagram with five smaller pentagrams around it (but it looks better than the first one).

julia’s so CUTE!!!!! it’s very sweet of her to reach out to andrew!! we know that andrew’s not the type to give a shit (internally) about rumors, but julia doesn’t know that. it’s very nice that she went out of her way to reassure him!!

it’s very surprising that andrew is the one who ultimately kickstarted their relationship. julia probably wasn’t going to say anything to him about her crush despite it being super super obvious. she’s very nervous and flustered in this scene!! the rumors surrounding him and ashley, regardless of truth, must have been harmful enough that he felt like he needed to step in to dispell them. andrew and his reputation… his care for ashley…

i love how we can see ashley’s interpretation of things and compare it to andrew’s interpretation of things. ashley’s view of the world is so skewed by her fears of abandonment and not being enough. she’s terrified of losing andrew, so anyone getting close to him is a threat that needs to be dealt with. but, andrew doesn’t have that same insecurity. he knows where he stands with ashley, he knows that no one can replace him in her life, and she can’t be replaced in his.

i’m so glad we get to see more of julia!! i know the game is titled the coffin of andy and leyley, but she’s important to the narrative!! she’s one of the few people to witness ashley’s full anger!! she was friends with nina!! she has seen how andrew acted when ashley wanted something!! i didn’t want to leave her in episode one…

it’s unfortunate that the next episodes will be delayed due to editor limitations, but that means that the game has so much content and i’m so exited to play it upon release!!!

being in my gay little circle of friends sometimes desensitises me to how few (openly) trans people there are.

Like, the doctor at the medical praxis in the middle of my fairly large city apparently never had a trans patient before and (politely and with genuine curiosity) asked me some questions about it.

My therapist had never had a trans patient before.

I may have kickstarted three transitions in my friends-group cause i was the first openly trans person they met and they saw me start my social+medical+legal transition.

It's often annoying to answer all the questions and dispell false beliefs of these people. But often i have been very positively impressed by their growth and that makes me happy.

Hell, i only started my transition after meeting a trans person and back then i was the one nagging about it.

Idk how to conclude this, but i think most people are genuinely curious and would like to learn about our experiences, even if they externalise it in weird/annoying ways at times (:

This is so absolutely bonkers to me.

Dispel Dice was the first Handmade Dice maker I had ever seen. I had no idea dice could be so gorgeous. I LUSTED after her dice before she was really selling them up until she did her kickstarter, where I got SEVERAL sets.

To see her not only holding my dice but saying such kind things about them feels so unreal. Being completely honest, there are a lot of times where I see every imperfection or I feel like I somehow fooled people with good lighting and photography tricks into thinking that I make pretty dice. And this video didnt CURE me of that, but it really is incredible to see someone who was formative in this hobby/career to me admiring things that *I* made. Next to other AMAZING dice.

at first i didn't want AFO to reach UA, because i didn't want him to take over tomura fully. but when i thought about it, i realized... why would he take over tomura fully, when he himself is already there? it would be like controlling two bodies at once, which would be hard i guess? so maybe when AFO gets there, tomura can be himself again. what do you think?

We already saw them next to each other at the beginning of the war and nothing was different.

I don’t think Tomura is going to be himself fully again until he gets help.

I’m sorry I know people want him to just break free but that makes no sense for him to do that when it’s his anger and negative feelings that shackle him, and currently he hasn’t seen any healing.

If Shigaraki is suddenly able to just break free without any of the character development necessary then all of the stakes that were challenging his actions are gone. He’s supposed to learn from this. He supposed to gain personal insight into himself and realize why he feels so miserable all the time, what the root of that feeling is, and work to heal it. Because if he doesn’t then he just stays miserable, destruction or not. He hasn’t done anything of the sort because he can’t, literally, but also mentally and emotionally he isn’t insightful enough question himself. He’s reactive and immature because that’s all he’s ever been allowed to be. Someone else has to kickstart that process for him.

Not liking the plot line taking his agency away is fine, personal preference. However, it’s necessary to really drive it in how little agency he has had since his introduction into the story. He has never fully been himself. The persona he was parading around throughout the series was just AFO’s little puppet, the person AFO made SURE he would turn out to be specifically so he could hijack his body and keep his consciousness deep below.

For him to suddenly just HAVE all that agency and independence he never had to begin with would be undoing a lot of what was built up with his character.

Shigaraki has to battle his way through all of his distorted beliefs about himself and his family before he can do ANYTHING. He currently thinks he is only good for destruction and doesn’t need a future, because he was born to destroy and that’s it. He thinks he killed his family and was then gaslit into believing he felt better about it. And some part of him knows that’s a messed up way to feel about your family—hence the dream scape showcasing his guilt and how desperate he is for closure with his family—so now he’s this emotional wreck we are currently familiar with. He tried to give himself closure with his family in that dreamscape but couldn’t, because his last moments with his father still hold so much weight over him that he can’t move on. He can’t move on because he thinks he killed them with intent, and that belief is what keeps him so shackled to the following belief that he was just born to destroy and bring mourning.

I feel like when people say they want Tomura to break free NOW and just fight AFO of his own volition, they are completely ignoring the fact that he HAS tried doing that already and—well, look how that turned out. He couldn’t. He lost that battle. Clearly.

I want him to break free too. I miss him a lot, I do. But he is not going to be able to free himself until he frees himself from the beliefs AFO put on him. Which is mainly just the beliefs about himself. No, not society. Those are beliefs conjured up through bad experiences, and he’s right about society, it sucks.

But him only being able to destroy, seeing no point in creating a future when he’s just inevitably going to destroy it, seeing no point in close relationships because he’s just gonna destroy them (like his family), seeing no point in anything good happening for him because he will just destroy the opportunity when it arises—that’s from AFO. And he needs to dispel those beliefs before he sets himself free, and he is not about to do that on his own. Otherwise he would have already. And the League isn’t about to do it either. Because they’re all either suicidal, see no redeemability in themselves either, or idealized Shigaraki based off of what AFO created. Bottom line is, they don’t know what he really wants or needs either. Not that it would matter, because they all have things they personally want and need and are focusing on that. Not him.

He needs help. From someone who will shut down those beliefs, and help him see past the need for destruction, because there is a point in having a future. Someone needs to show him that, and show that they will help him make that future come true.

We will get little hints of him, showing us who he really is by showing us what triggers Tenko (the core of who he really is need I remind you) to come out. Because all we know is his trauma personality, beyond that and the parts we like because of Tenko, he doesn’t have much to himself. I mean beyond being pretty, and being a very very jaded idealist.

Until we see him and Midoriya in the same vicinity I think it’s gonna be a hot minute before we get Shigaraki back to himself FULLY.

Nico looks proud of his booth and his pokémon are scattered around next to it, Squire placing himself directly in the middle between his and Beau’s. He still looks tired but he perks up at the funnel cakes Beau holds out for him from @sirenintheveil. He nods his thanks to Marion as he looks over his schedule for the week.

He doesn’t have anything going on today, no lectures just wanting to take it easy and look around everyone else’s booths. Nothing tomorrow morning but later in the evening he’ll be doing one on dark type care. Things will pick up the day after with a larger scale Dispelling Dark Type Myths in the morning, with that focusing primarily on legendaries and mythicals, then in the evening he decided to do one on fire type care as well.

Thursday’s gonna be his day off and then Friday he’s got a lecture on what to do if encountering an irate or injured pokémon, thinking back to the absol that kickstarted him founding Moonlight Shadows. Saturday is an easy going day, just a Q&A for any questions surrounding dark types that he may not have covered earlier and Sunday is… well Sunday he’s got plans of his own.

He looks over at his team and grins, to which they all return it eagerly awaiting the week, it’ll certainly be busy for all of them.

What is the Atlas Military like in Redux?

I mean, technically speaking, it’s not actually the “Atlesian military.” People often call it that since the general is the headmaster of Atlas Academy, but it’s not all that accurate. The correct name for it is the “global” or “world military,” since it’s a joint peacekeeping operation dictated by Remnant’s 17 world leaders.

Some historical context:

After the Mistrali-Mantic Alliance officially surrendered in 10 IB, the leaders of Remnant’s four great powers convened at the Island of Vytal. This meeting, later called the Vytal Summit, was to discuss reparations, concessions, government restructuring, and international laws that all countries would abide by.

One of the main talking points was, “What do we do with our armed forces?”

Understandably, people were reluctant to fully disband their militaries, since international tensions were still a bit high. No one wanted to create a scenario where one country complied, only to then be left vulnerable and at the mercy of its neighbors. And even if that weren’t the case, Grimm remained an active threat—perhaps now more than ever, since their global activity dramatically spiked over the last ten years. Many settlements fell to them during the Great War—Periit, Kuebiko, Amervaile, the Yrrose cities.

It was an all-around unpleasant situation.

King Ozark, Vale’s last reigning monarch, was the one who suggested a specialized Grimm-killing task force. After all, most of the countries in attendance already had something like it back home: Vale’s knights, Mistral’s rangers, Vacuo’s outriders. Huntsmen, as they were later called, would be the world’s answer to the Grimm: specialized fighters, jointly educated and trained to protect people, regardless of national borders. Huntsmen would be a preemptive measure, a way to routinely deal with Grimm and keep their numbers low.

But here's the thing: Huntsmen are by default meant to fight Grimm, not people. And the Great War wasn’t caused by monsters—it was caused by man.

It’s worth pointing out that the formation of the academies did help significantly decrease international tension, by rallying people against a common enemy. But Huntsmen couldn’t fully dispel generations’ worth of imperialism, nationalism, and genocide. There was the lingering fear that groups of people might try to kickstart another war.

That’s where the world military comes in.

Repurposed from the ranks of Mantle’s armed forces, the world military was created as a final, last-ditch measure to deal with disputes manufactured by people. Its purpose is to intervene in conflicts too large or aggressive to be handled domestically.

In order for the global military to be mobilized, it requires a unanimous vote from all 17 world leaders—the four councilors of each kingdom, and the leader of Menagerie. There’s an exception to this rule, which states that if a country is violating international law, then the military can be deployed with a unanimous vote sans that of the country at fault.

Hypothetically, let’s say Mistral tried to reinstate slavery within its borders, and word got out. The World Council is obligated to hold a meeting with Mistral’s council and try to find a peaceful solution. If Mistral’s government refuses and continues to violate international law, then the other world leaders can vote to mobilize the military. In a case like this, only a 13/17 vote is needed, since Mistral’s council has forfeited their right to vote. It’s never gotten to this point in the last eighty years, thankfully. International relations have been pretty stable, all things considered. There have been a few smaller conflicts where the military did get deployed, but they weren’t on the scale of wars. But that’s a topic for another day.

The head of the military, as mentioned earlier, is the headmaster of Atlas Academy. Academy headmasters are unique in that their council positions aren’t democratically elected, unlike the other three council seats. Instead, headmasters are chosen from amongst their peers. This means that James’ position was only solidified once Ozpin, the Haven headmaster, and the Shade headmaster voted him into power. It’s a quirk which has its share of detractors. That being said, there is a reason why this “design flaw” exists, and it was very much deliberate on Ozark’s part.

The “main” base of operations for the military is the Island of Vytal, where the eponymous Fort Vytal was built. There are also a handful of other outposts located across Remnant, like Fort Nubuck (which is situated on Bycast Island, within Argus). Resources for these outposts are supplied by all five countries.

Nowadays, the military’s more or less in perpetual standby mode. It hasn’t seen a lot of action in a long time—which means that it’s doing its job correctly.

Biden's representatives have submitted amendments to the WHO's International Health Regulations (IHR), which would give the Director General the right to declare health emergencies in any nation, even when disputed by the country in question.

These amendments, which would be legally binding under international law, will be voted on by the World Health Assembly (the governing body of the WHO) at a special convention running from May 22-28 and set the stage for a fully-fledged pandemic treaty to be passed.

BBEG Creation Quickie: God of Illusions #1

A DMPC (a Dungeon Master Player Character) is a frowned upon concept for a reason, it steals the spotlight, and it falls directly into the category of the also much hated 'railroader' DM. There is however a way to make memorable NPC's or dare I say it even DMPC's as a Dungeon Master. They should simply oppose the party instead of work with them, lest they'd steal their spotlight.

What I am of course talking about is clear as day to you, because you have read the title. This is not about DMPC's this is about Big Bad Evil Guys & Galls or BBEG's for short. A BBEG is the great thread at the end of an arc or even the whole campaign, it is the force that has been pulling the strings from the shadows and will confront the party on multiple occasions, but most importantly at the end.

The Illusionist Wizard

A wizard of the school of illusion has a multitude of wonderous spells in their arsenal: Distort Value and Creation are great spells to kickstart their enormous wealth. A simple Truesight or Dispel Magic can see through this, you might say, but not for this Wizard. At 14th level they gain the feature Illusory Reality, gaining the ability to make one of their illusions real (REAL!! as in actual non-illusion-magic real), for a duration of 1 minute though, but still.

The fun does not end there, Illusory Reality also really messes with the 6th-level-upcasted version of Major Image, also known as Permanent Image. Illusory Reality states:

When you cast an illusion spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose one inanimate, nonmagical object that is part of the illusion AND MAKE THAT OBJECT REAL. You can do this on your turn as a bonus action while the spell is ongoing. The object remains real for 1 minute.

This wizard can have an almost infinite amount of Permanent Images in their wizard tower, as a bonus action they can switch around which illusion becomes real for a minute, after which it turns back into an illusion.
