First of all, I both hear and understand why everyone is upset with the new opening and ending sequences. In fact, I agree with most the posts I've seen so far about it...BUT I also have another set of feelings about it.

I was just looking back on posts trying to predict how Bones would animate "Katsuki Bakugo: Rising" and let me remind you people, the bar was low. The expectation was grim. And then? We were all so pleasantly surprised at how well they did. They took their time with Bakugo's moment and isolated it.

I'm not saying these op/edings aren't bogus but I do wonder if they are actually trying to give bkdk their space here. Giving them a moment before our big apology scene. If you'll notice, all the big scenes that these sequences allude to are all big, major scenes. But what's the biggest one? By not highlighting it in the sequences, I feel like it will be more unexpected and will shine brighter BECAUSE of the lack of expectation.

You see these moments with Ochako and that becomes your expectation for the season progression...but that's not what happens. Remember they've been playing the long game leading up to this season.

In the past I stated how they handled "Katsuki Bakugo: Rising" would tell us how they will handle the rest. I think for now, I'll trust in that. And I mean, hey, if not? THEN we riot 😜

Some pointless but sweet thoughts:

Jason’s love language is food/sharing a meal: he brings Danny dinner every day so he’s sure he’ll eat. When he knows he’s having a bad day, Jason bakes, bringing over a new dessert for them to share. To him there is nothing quite as romantic as splitting an orange. He’s never once gone to the Manor for Sunday Dinner without a dish in hand. People rejoice when he’s in charge of the soup kitchen.

Danny’s love language is gifts/repairs: he’s always grabbing cool looking rocks and feathers and then just… wordlessly handing them to Jason when they next see each other. He’ll give larger gifts as well (a custom motorcycle, a nightmare gun, the actual library of Alexandria, etc) always carefully tailored to the recipient and with no explanation. He mends shirts as apologies and unclogs the sink as thanks.

i like thinking about post- (or during-) ep-5 pat being able to make sense of a lot of things about himself now that he knows he's queer and has feelings for pran (why he was jealous that pran sang their song with wai and co., why he was depressingly lonely when pran was at boarding school, it's all making sense now, etc), but it's especially fun to think about him retroactively recognizing the physical attraction for what it was. specifically thinking of ep 4 scene where he calls pran cute three times in, like, just as many seconds. "cute dimples you have there. if i have these dimples, will i be as cute as you? [you want to have dimples?] yes, so I can be cute like you are." narak triple whammy. pre-feelings pre-coming-out pat was just fully like yeah i'm charmed by my not-friend not-enemy's cute face i think i want those dimples for myself and i want to make him blush about it i will not interrogate this because it feels good & right in the moment. now add those realized feelings: he finds pran physically attractive because he's into guys, and he wants to make pran blush about how cute he is because he's into pran specifically, and he does still want those dimples for himself...but in a different way....

If you could eat any monster from dungeon meshi, which one would it be and why?

Not a particular monster, but the dish i wanted the most was FAIRY RING CHANGELING'D ASSORTED MULTICULTURAL DUMPLINGS. Oh my god. I think a lot about how dumpling style food from every culture covers most of my favorite dishes, and Im also someone who prefers sampling food here and there instead of eating a lot of one thing. So seeing this panel just made me like extremely excited

I have to think harder about a particular monster..I really wanna try stuff with slime and Im delighted by all of the uses for it. The man-eating plant tart uses slime gelatin as a binding agent and it looks so good.

Also not a monster but the exorcism sorbet was so delightful, the way they made it made me smile and it looks so good

Unfortunately I quickly feel sick if I eat too much of one thing (especially really savory food) and I really like light foods, so although most of the dishes in dungeon meshi looked amazing they are probably a bit too heavy for me to eat more than a couple bites of so I really loved seeing unique light dishes like these here and there

A familiar smell reached Martyn over the stale island breeze and led him back to the center of town. He had been minding his own business at home, organizing all the bounty he had accumulated on his last adventure. It had been a rough one, but those were best as those gave him the most treasure and gold to bring back. He never returned empty handed, he couldn’t. He was afraid the Kestrels would let him walk the plank for that.

Now, however, he was on a mission to spend money. He liked spending the gold he’d acquired over his journeys, money had to roll. He’d invest in large ships, in his armor and equipment. He however also bought things just for the pleasure of it, something he was about to do right now.

He came upon the stall with a watering mouth. The delicious treats that were displayed out in the open seemed to lure everyone around in but Martyn managed to get himself to the front of the group of curious townsfolk. There they were, a rare and tasty snack. Only some could understand the true delight of something like that touching your tongue and sliding down your throat.

They came at a cost, but that was something Martyn was very willing to pay. He knew of other Kestrels who did so and while it was a shame he had to share a treasure like this he understood. This snack was hard to resist once you got a taste and Martyn was starving for it. He had been on the high seas for so long. He managed well the first coupe of days, living off that last taste but now he was desperate.

But he was back on the Faction Isles and there was no need to stall this long awaited reunion. There they were, for all and everybody do see but nobody understood them like Martyn did. Nobody appreciated what they could do to your body and wellbeing, it was something so special to receive.

Oh, and of course there were the dumplings in Scotts stand as well.

Can you guys rb this or comment with how you pronounce “Goncharov”? I didn’t really think anything of it until one of my friends said it out loud and I was like huh? I think it’s interesting how people can have different pronunciations of a word or name they’ve never heard out loud in their head an not question it. For reference, I’m a native Russian speaker and I’ve always read it like gohn-CHArohv and my US American friend said GAHNCHA-rahv.
