The Wheel of Misfortune 😂 (AKA feelings.. blech) When I first got sober I was absolutely APPALLED at all the different emotions I was experiencing. I’d go from happy to sad, excited to depressed, bitter to serene… it was a total cluster-f@ck. Then to make matters worse, I would really get to feeling some type of way and I would have no words to describe what the feeling was. Then someone showed me the feelings wheel, which to fair was equally as confusing at fiof it. Anyways, I thought I’d share, just in case it could be helpful for you too! There’s really no right or wrong way to use the wheel, but I’ll share two of the most common methods! Method 1: ➡️ Find the inner-most circle ➡️ Identify the core feeling you’re experiencing ➡️ Based on the core emotion, extend to the corresponding pie slice. ➡️ Review which of those emotions feels relatable based on your situation. ➡️Extend to the outermost corresponding section of your pie slice and name your feeling. Method 2: ➡️ Start on the outer-most ring of the wheel. ➡️ Find an emotion that most closely described what you’re feeling. ➡️ Move inward on the corresponding pie slice to narrow your feeling more precisely. ➡️ Move to the inner-most circle to help find the core emotion behind what you’re feeling. THAT’S IT! Pretty simple right, but man is it helpful if I’m struggling to find out what it is I’m actually feeling. Have you ever used a feeling wheel? What are your thoughts? • • • • #emotionalsobriety #feelings #emotionsmatter #feelingswheel #nameyourfeelings #nameyouremotions #feelingsarefeedback #sober #sobriety #sobercommunity #recoverycommunity #recoverytools #soberjourney #recoveryjourney #healingjourney #mentalhealthrecovery #mentalhealthmatters #soberisbetter #emotionalintelligence #emotionalhealth #recoveryworks #recoveryposse #odaat #soberlifeisthebestlife #soberthoughts #addictionrecovery #recoveringalcoholic #dualdiagnosis #friendsofbillw #alcoholicsanonymous https://www.instagram.com/p/CpvauQWO9HE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

To anyone who needs to hear this today: It’s ok to feel it all. It’s ok to cry and process all your emotions in a way that helps you move on. Fresh start often means to grieve a little. Let those tears wash away the old and make room for new. You got this lovely 🙌❤️ This illustration is another entry for #bloomandgrow2023 challenge. I constantly find posts at the right time. I’ve been talking to a few of my dear friends lately about trauma and how it affects us in various ways. This post truly speaks to me because I am a HSP. What I used to view as a curse I now know is a precious gift that I’m grateful for. 💝 🙏 • Repost from @anamarialifecoach • Being born an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and exposed to numerous traumas in my childhood and adolescence, my system often felt like the inner gears of a clock 🕰 with toothpicks inserted between them to interrupt their smooth mechanism. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This illustration reminds me of just that. The trauma responses interrupting the smooth mechanism of our mindbody. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Removing the obstacles and “oiling the gear connections” returns the system back to its optimal functioning. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Do you identify with any of these “toothpicks” listed here? If so, which ones? Comment below 👇 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’re interested in clearing your system and healing, book a discovery call with @anamarialifecoach where we will discuss your situation and how her coaching program can help. See link in her bio to sign up. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You’re not alone anymore. Repost from @anamarialifecoach • For someone who had anxious attachment her whole life 🙋🏼‍♀️ the Law of Detachment has been the best prescription ever! ⁣ ⁣ Having a mindshift from anxiousness towards healthy detachment has been the best remedy for this 🧠 of mine. #djziggs 🙌🏾 @anamarialifecoach ・・・ Don’t confuse this 🚩 for this ❤️ That first one on the top left every time: “appears charming”. ⁣ ⁣ Time is needed. Time to explore another person. One chair, a 1000 words, and infinite emotions.
This technique is designed to allow one to work through an interpersonal or internal conflict. It helps one see the situation from a different perspective and gain insight into their feelings and behaviors that they might not be aware of.
So what happens?
You sit facing an empty chair. In the chair, you picture a person with whom you are experiencing conflict. Or, you may picture a version of yourself. Then, you initiate a conversation which allows you to see things from different perspective.
As one starts expressing without any fear, they may come to experience a shift -  what is making me say that, why am I hurt? Is that the true for the person or just my projection?
This starts a dialogue, first with the chair and then with our own self.
Reach out to us at betterlyf.com and we will help you facilitate this technique to release all those pent-up emotions.

What are the Universal Emotions 2023 Psychologyorg
Darwin was the first to mention that human emotions were universal and that they were expressed in the same way regardless of culture. He pointed out that they were biologically innate. Later, Tomkins along with Paul Eckman and Carrol Izard began in-depth studies to find out what was happening with emotions. It has been seen, in fact, that the facial expressions of adults are completely the same as those of newborns, which have not yet had too much interference from the environment.
There is a multitude of emotions in humans, but Paul Eckman’s studies limited them to six main emotions: joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, and surprise. These emotions are common to all human beings, which is why they are called universal emotions. To continue discovering what are the universal emotions and examples of them, keep reading Psychologyorg.

How many more times will we need to put out videos on how to talk to kids about school shootings?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9_ZDIdKrBg 💔 How many more times will we need to put out videos on how to talk to kids about school shootings? 💔 Sending love to all of you. School shootings are scary—for adults and for children. It’s important to talk about it. Here are some things to say; (1) That news was scary- it makes sense to feel whatever are feeling. These emotions are valid and I am here to listen and work through them with you. (2) There’s a mantra that Dr Dawn Huebner and I discussed on my podcast, How to Talk to Kids about Anything, from her book, Something Bad Happened. “Even though I am afraid doesn’t mean that I am in danger.” 3) We have all heard the beautifully worded concept from Mr. Rogers- that during these tough times, to look for the helpers. In working with kids and helping parents and educators talk to kids about tough topics, one of the things I learned is that kids feel comforted not just by looking for helpers but “how can you be a helper?” Donating time or goods, making a video in support of the affected school, sending a card, raising money, this gives kids a sense of control in the chaos and that can help. Let’s keep talking. I’m with you. 🙌🏻 Here ya go, I’m just going to drop this right here. 🤗 There’s a lot to be said about this, but to be honest I just woke up at 2pm after working 2 12 hour overnight shifts and my brain isn’t exactly firing on all cylinders yet 😂 Might turn this topic into a blog post later, idk. In all honesty, hoping to hear back from you all on where you stand with the “feelings aren’t fact” and “all feelings are valid” conversation. For me I feel like there is definitely a happy middle, but the raging cognitive dissonance I experience with these two concepts is unreal at time 😂 So… lay it on me! • • • • #feelings #feelingsarefeedback #feelingsarevalid #feelingsarentfacts #inmyfeelingschallenge #soberthoughts #sober #sobriety #emotionalsobriety #sobercommunity #recoverycommunity #addictionrecovery #mentalhealthrecovery #recoveringalcoholic #cognitivedissonance #sobermovement #sobermotivation #soberinstagram #recoveryworks #sobersupport #wedorecover #friendsofbillw #alcoholicsanonymous #soberliving #soberlifestyle #recoveryposse #emotionsmatter https://www.instagram.com/p/CqBb-zJuf_S/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If my heart could talk, it would complain of a brutal dictatorship. ⁣ ⁣ Sketchbook comic ⁣ ⁣ [3-panel sketchbook comic without panel borders. Shows sullen girl with a braid, arms crossed, her back to a forlorn-looking red heart that is locked in a birdcage. In panel 2, she turns to the caged heart and scolds, "Don't even think of coming out until you're ready to behave." Text reads: "My creativity is closely tied to my emotions...When I can't express myself openly, it blocks my ability to draw and write." In panel 3, Elephant comments, "That's not very nice to your heart," to which Heart echoes, "Yeah." Girl says dramatically, "HEY! This is really cutting into my productivity!" There's a flashing arrow pointed right at her that says "TYRANT."]⁣ ⁣

So many children with trauma grow up to hide their negative emotions for fear of being unsafe. I hid pain behind a smile for so many years, and then discovered spirituality and fell into the toxic “good vibes only” world. Obviously we want to feel better, we want to use our emotions to manifest a better life for ourselves, we want to avoid pain. But if we don’t allow ourselves to feel the emotions that arise and let them move through us, we will become stagnant, or worse. Shadow work, and trauma therapy have allowed me to get the pain inside of me out by giving myself permission to feel. Don’t feel guilty for your negative emotions. Feel them, and heal. You deserve to be fully yourself. #traumahealing #emotionsmatter #shadowwork #selfcare https://www.instagram.com/p/CLA2enJjH1Y/?igshid=83h55ekzecbd
