You were at your desk in the TVA when you heard the commotion of your coworkers gawking at someone in front of you. “Y/n,” a strange man gasped as his hands came to cup your cheeks “gods darling you have to help me.” Your brow furrowed in confusion as you moved out of the man’s grasp. “You have five seconds to explain why you’re grabbing my face and calling me darling before I prune you.” You huffed in response, hand already searching for your weapon. “Darling, it’s me. It’s Loki.” He raised his hands in surrender as you shoved your time stick in his face. “Loki!? You mean the variant I’m supposed to be hunting down Loki?” You raise a brow, charging up the weapon and preparing to use it. Loki looked hurt, defeated even, as he seemed to melt into despair “You-you don’t remember me?” He frowned “I remember it's my job to get you off the timeline so the world doesn’t end.” You spoke as you lunged towards him. Loki was quicker though, sprinting through the hallways as you called for backup. You turned around a corner after him and heard a sort of yelp before you watched him seemingly get ripped from the universe. “What the hell was that?” You frowned as you looked to the men around you who just shrugged in response.
He had been moving through the TVA for a while now, through time more than space it seemed. He felt his body being ripped apart and pulled back together, he kept his eyes closed for a moment before he registered a scream that sounded oh so familiar. “Y/n?” He started hands already up as he approached you apprehensively. He’d had his fair share of run-ins with the past yous now and he just wanted you to recognize him. Maybe this was the actual war that He Who Remained had promised him. A war inside himself every time he saw you and you didn’t recognize him one bit. Didn’t remember the fight you’d put up for Mobius to keep him around, didn’t remember the adventures you’d been on with him. “Please don’t hurt me.” You mumbled and it was then that Loki realized that this you was different from the others. You were younger, the emotions you usually kept steeled away were present on your face, the main one being fear. He took a cautious step toward you “I could never hurt you.” He mumbled, looking into your confused eyes. He opened his mouth to speak again but before he could he was being ripped away once more, his hand reaching out to you as if you could save him.
“Where the hell do you think you’ve been?” Your voice echoed down the hallway as you marched up to Loki, looking decidedly pissed. “Darling-“ He started but you stopped him before he could get to far. “I stuck my neck out for you and then you escape?” You huffed, arms crossed over your chest. “I should’ve just let Mobius kill you after your little movie but no, I felt bad, and this is what it gets me.” You paused for a moment in your rant “And stop calling me darling, it isn’t going to win you any brownie points.” It must’ve been his first day he realized a little too late as you began to slip cuffs over his wrists and drag him back to the room he was held in. “You’ve got the wrong guy.” He tried to explain but even he didn’t know if he would be able to talk his way out of this one. “Oh, so there’s some other you running around wearing the exact same clothes doing the exact same thing as you?” You raised a brow as you shoved him into the room. “Honestly, for the god of lies, I thought you’d be better at the whole talking your way out of things. I mean seriously ‘you’ve got the wrong guy,’ I’m not a child Loki.” You mocked his voice as best you could and he couldn’t help the small smirk that came to his lips, remembering the other times you’d done it in far less serious matters. “Stop looking at me like that.” “Like wha-“ “Loki?! LOKI! What the hell!?” You looked down at the cuffs that had fallen to the floor and sent a message to Mobius that Loki was still at large.
You were walking out of the war room the next time he spotted you “Y/n, I don’t have time to explain but you know me and I need your help.” “I know I know you?” You looked at him confused “I’m more concerned about the whole appearing in front of me as a stringy flesh monster.” Loki breathed a sigh of relief and wrapped his arms around you “I love you darling, please don’t forget me again.” He paused for a moment pulling away to look at you “Stringy flesh monster?” “I’d say that’s a good way of putting it.” Mobius piped up from behind you.

Season 3 Rewatch Drabbles: 3x13 Witch Hunt

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my    rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.  Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on Captain Swan’s epic love story.

Regina was no stranger to grief–after all, she’d lost both of her parents as well as her first love–but nothing could have prepared her for the overwhelming, all consuming, oppressive grief of losing a child.  Granted, Henry wasn’t dead.  He was hopefully living a full and happy life with Emma in New York, and that was certainly some comfort, but still the grief of knowing there was no way of ever seeing him again was so crushing she felt like she could barely breathe.
It was the main reason she’d come back to her castle.  She just wanted it all to end, and she knew exactly how to do that.  Putting herself under a sleeping curse might be extreme, but hey.  It was better than living out the next forty or fifty years with this overwhelming sadness.
“Make yourself useful,” she tossed over her shoulder to the man who had followed her like a stray puppy, or perhaps a guard dog.
Regina’s broken heart swooped at the remembrance of discovering Robin Hood following her.  What was wrong with her?  Why did she have this strong, overwhelming reaction to him everytime he showed up?  Yes, he was handsome, but she’d had dealings with plenty of handsome men through the years.  What was it about this bandit that affected her so?  She didn’t need this distraction.
And so, she’d resorted to her default when she felt flat footed–sarcasm and snark.
She did her best to ignore him as she went about gathering the supplies she needed for the curse.
She should have known he would make that impossible.
“What is that?” he asked, suspiciously eyeing the bottles she’d amassed.
“Nothing that concerns you,” she said dismissively.
He pulled an arrow at her, actually pulled an arrow. “I won’t ask you again. What is that?”
Regina’s anger flared–anger at him, anger at herself, anger at Pan, anger at the witch who’d stolen her castle, anger at the whole damn world and everyone in it.  She raised her hand and choked him.  “How dare you threaten me in my own castle!”
He struggled against her hold, but the defiance never left his eyes.  “Even if you choke the life out of me,” he gasped, “this arrow will still leave my bow, and trust me, I never miss.  Now what manner of dark potion are you making?”
In an instant the anger drained from her, leaving nothing but the emptiness–and something feeling almost like shame.  Why did it bother her so much that this man jumped to the worst conclusions about her motives?
It was something that didn’t bear contemplation.  She was so tired, so heartsick, she just wanted it to be over.  She let him go.  “A sleeping curse.”
“The kind you used on Snow White?” he asked.
“That spell came from Maleficent,” she answered, mixing ingredients. “I finally learned how to make one of my own.”
“A spell?  This is why you wanted to come to the castle?” he asked.  “That was your plan? To use it on the witch?”
“The witch?” Regina asked in surprise.  Truthfully, the idea had never occurred to her.  “I don’t care about her.”
“Then who do you plan to use it on?”
Regina stopped for a second, letting the pain, the heartbreak, wash over her once again.  She closed her eyes for a moment, wishing things were different, wishing, in a rare moment of brutal self reflection, that she’d been different.  “Don’t worry.  No one you’ll miss.  No one anyone will miss.”
“This is about your son, isn’t it?” he asked, his voice tender, understanding.  “I can’t let you do this.”
And she couldn’t let him stop her.  With a lazy wave of her hand, she stuck his feet to the floor.  “Then it’s a good thing you don’t have a say in the matter.”
He tried to dissuade her, speaking of his own heartbreak, his own guilt at his wife’s death.  He spoke to her of second chances and new reasons to care about life.
For a moment, a single moment, she almost wavered.  Her traitorous heart leapt at the hope, the possibilities his words brought to her.  What if…what if he was right?  What if there was still a possibility of a…if not strictly happy, at least content…life for her?
But as soon as the hope sprung up, it dissipated.  It was too late for her.  Too late for hope.  Hope was for the heroes, for those who still had their loved ones at their side.  Her hope was gone, and she was never getting it back.
“This isn’t an end,” she said finally. “It’s an eternal middle.  This curse can be broken by the only true love in my life and the only reason I would even want to wake–my son.”
“Regina, listen to me!  This is a mistake!” He tried one last time.
“Don’t worry,” she said, resisting the allure of his voice, “I’ll keep my word.  I’ll lower the protection spell so that Snow and Charming can be victorious, but then, then I go to sleep.”

Top 15 Fictional Trains

But seriously: ever since I was a boy, I’ve always had a fascination with the railway. From real-life trains and railways of great repute, to various fictional railroads and their engines found in books, video games, movies, and more. I’m not the only one: the railroad has always held an enduring sense of intrigue for all sorts of people all over the world. Something about these great Iron Horses, racing along the tracks, seeming to fly across the landscape with such grace and speed, remains iconic. From steam locomotives to more modern diesel engines and electric trains, the sense of power, speed, and the symbolization of ever-moving progress they embody will forever be indelible. Whether you’re fascinated by the real history and technical aspects of railways and their engines, or just see them as a fun visual motif, they aren’t going away.
I thought it would be fun to talk about some of my favorite fictional trains and engines, because…well…I just want to. Yeah, I’m not tying this one into anything, there’s no special occasion, I just…want to talk about them. Is that so wrong? I hope not. Now, this will be specifically dedicated to FICTIONAL trains, so you won’t be seeing real railway constructs on this list. And, of course, I have to know about the trains in question in order for them to count. (SPOILER ALERT: “Infinity Train” is nowhere on this list. I’ve never seen it, probably never will, and basically don’t know anything about it.) With that said, let’s get on with it! Full Steam Ahead! These are My Top 15 Favorite Fictional Trains.

15. The Rainbow Sun, from Shining Time Station/Thomas & the Magic Railroad.
It is pure nostalgia, above all else, that gets this train onto the list. The Rainbow Sun was the main engine piloted by Billy Twofeathers: chief engineer of the Indian Valley Railroad. This was the railway line serviced by the titular depot in “Shining Time Station.” The show, of course, was a showcase for the animated series “Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends,” during the 1990s; Shining Time and all of its characters acted as a framing device, with episodes of Thomas (usually connected in some way to the central plot) interspersed into the story. In the original TV series, the Rainbow Sun was portrayed by the Union Pacific 844. When the film “Thomas and the Magic Railroad” - which combined elements of Shining Time Station with Thomas & Friends - was made, all of the scenes at Shining Time were shot on the Strasburg Railroad. Strasburg’s 475 stood in for the Rainbow Sun. (That’s the version pictured here, since my guess is more people will recognize the movie than the TV show version.) There’s really not much to say about the Rainbow Sun, I just…like this train. Both versions. Both the movie and the show were a part of my childhood; this train, in each incarnation, is much the same.

14. The Sea Railway, from Spirited Away.
“Spirited Away” is widely considered one of the finest animated fantasy films ever made. Released by the world-renowned Studio Ghibli, this picture - like many of Ghibli’s greatest works - was the brainchild of the mighty Hayao Miyazaki, and is known for its sense of surreal, bizarre, at times nightmarish visuals and scenarios, as well as its fun and fascinating cast of crazy characters. One of the less bonkers elements of the film, yet also one of the most memorable, is the Sea Railway: while the scene where this train appears is brief, it is nevertheless very fondly recalled. In the scene, the main character - Sen - travels with her newfound friend, the mysterious No Face, to find the enchantress named Zeniba. The pair hop aboard the Sea Railway: a double diesel rail car that runs on tracks across the ocean. This is a scene all about visuals, that is both spectacular and yet shockingly peaceful. No dialogue, just the emotions of the music and the animation, as the strange railcar glides across the sea. Like several other trains on this list, its time in the film is short, but the moment is immortal.

13. The Ghost Train, from Casper: A Spirited Beginning.
This is a pretty “bleh” movie, in my opinion. A prequel to the 1995 film “Casper” (based on the comic and cartoon character of Casper the Friendly Ghost), this film tells the origins of the titular character. (They are nowhere near as interesting and exciting as they probably should be.) However, I’ve always had a soft spot for one particular part of the movie: the opening sequence. Why? Well, the movie starts off actually quite promising, with the ghostly Casper - freshly dead (how pleasant) - waking up on the Ghost Train. There have been many kinds of ghost trains in fiction over the years; in this case, it’s a railroad which transports souls to the afterlife. The Train is pure nightmare fuel of the best kind: a battered old steam train, carrying a heavy rake of carriages, with a crimson skull for a smokebox, its glowing eyes acting as the headlamps. Damned souls spew from its funnel in lieu of steam, skeletal limbs act as its coupling rods, and inside its chattering mandibles are a horde of black cats. The furniture inside the coaches is made from bones, only adding to its macabre sense of style. While it’s only onscreen for a few minutes (the opening, plus a couple of scenes later), this Ghost Train nevertheless made a big impression on me as a kid, and it was by far the best part of the film…which gives you a good idea of how bad the movie is, sadly. Still, points where points are due: this train is still pretty epic to this day.

12. The Time Train, from Back to the Future: Part III.
What’s cooler than a DeLorean? The answer is…well…probably the TARDIS, if anything, BUT BESIDES THAT I’d say a flying, time-traveling steam locomotive definitely deserves some credit! In the climax of the third and final pillar of the “Back to the Future” Trilogy, our heroes engage in a daring chase scene involving a runaway steam train. At the end of the film, Doc Brown reappears before Marty McFly, and reveals he’s “recycled” the busted engine to create a time traveling train, colloquially and appropriately called the Time Train by most fans. (It’s also sometimes referred to as the Jules Verne Train, but I’ve always liked Time Train more: it’s catchier and simpler.) While I love the look of the Time Train, once again, it’s not onscreen for very long, and doesn’t honestly do THAT much in the grand scheme of things. It’s not even clear, despite what I’ve said, if this is the same engine as the one from earlier in the film, or just a very similar one, since the aforementioned steam train did sort of…well…friggin’ EXPLODE. Regardless, it’s a memorable engine, and has long been a fan favorite. Definitely worthy of placement in the Top 12.

11. The Soviet Missile Train, from Goldeneye.
One of the few non-steam engines to be mentioned on this countdown, this diesel engine is also one of the most sinister creations on the list. This armored passenger train is interesting in that it actually doubles a mobile secret headquarters: in the James Bond film “Goldeneye,” the main villain, Alec Trevelyan (a.k.a. Janus), rides around in this battering-ram-on-wheels with his henchman. The train is based on real-life armored trains owned by the Soviet Union, but has been exaggerated to give it a more outright evil, almost futuristic sort of look, with a sharpened nose and colored all in black, with blood red Soviet Stars on the sides. The train is destroyed when Bond first derails it with a tank (because of course he does, he’s James-flipping-Bond), and Trevelyan - forced to abandon his mobile HQ - blows up what remains in attempt to destroy his nemesis. The Missile Train made a memorable appearance in the Nintendo 64 video game adaptation of the film, where the players - as Bond - would have to make their way inside and around the train to take out Trevelyan’s goons and save our resident Bond Girl for the evening, Natalya Simova. Whether you love it best for the movie or the game, this big black beast is definitely one of the fiercest things to ever ride the rails.

10. The Wanderer, from Wild Wild West.
Much like the previous entry on the list, this steam engine proves that if there’s one thing cooler than a spy car, it’s a spy train. “Wild Wild West” was a TV series that was a sort of off-kilter combination of the spy film and Western genres. The plot focused on a pair of clever cowboys - Jim West and Artemus Gordon - who worked for a special branch of the U.S. Secret Service. They rode around the country, stopping crimes and committing acts of espionage against evil masterminds. To accomplish this, the pair traveled via a luxurious private passenger train called the Wanderer. In the series, the Wanderer was largely portrayed via stock footage of Inyo, an engine that, at the time, served the Baltimore Locomotive Works. The Train was basically just a mobile headquarters for the duo; it didn’t exactly do much, but it allowed for an interesting“Home Base” location to see in every episode, and it helped make the series a bit more unique. In the later 1999 movie version, starring Will Smith as Jim West (that’s the one pictured here, for the same reasons as the previously discussed Rainbow Sun), the famous engine the William Mason was used to portray the Wanderer. While the film is basically a giant mess, I’ve actually always had a sort of soft spot for it; it’s a guilty pleasure, to say the least. Part of what I liked was the way the movie “suped up” the Wanderer: not only was the train an HQ-on-wheels for the spy-fighting duo, but now it was basically the equivalent of having a Bond Car riding the rails, with all kinds of gadgets and secrets hidden in the engine and its coaches. Even if you don’t like the movie (trust me, you aren’t alone there), or never saw the series, I defy you to say the Wanderer isn’t pretty cool.

9. The Infernal Train, from Alice: Madness Returns.
Not all trains are colorful, whimsical, and fun to ride. Perhaps no fictional train in history has been quite as forbidding as the Infernal Train from “Alice: Madness Returns,” the sequel to the cult classic video game “American McGee’s Alice.” For those who don’t know, the games focus on a grown-up Alice having to traverse through a twisted, warped, morbid reimagining of Wonderland; shaped by her own trauma and insanity into a chaotic nightmare world. At the end of the first game, however, Alice is able to conquer her fears and problems, and seemingly goes off onto a happy ending…but in the second game, we soon learn it wasn’t that easy. When Alice returns to Wonderland, it at first seems to be back to how it should be, but it quickly becomes clear that new threats and new problems are once again causing it to steadily fall into a state of hellish doom. The centerpiece of all this horror is the Infernal Train: a massive locomotive, seemingly built from a Gothic cathedral, which soars through the skies of Wonderland, spreading a tar-like substance called Ruin wherever it goes, destroying everything in its path. Alice’s mission is to find out who is responsible for the Infernal Train, and stop it in its tracks before it completely obliterates Wonderland forever. The Train is almost a character in and of itself in the game; a force of nature, the presence of which is a constant source of dread. It’s one of the most sinister locomotives ever created, and memorably so. It has well-earned its place in my personal Top 10.

8. Casey Junior, from Dumbo.
Whenever I think of the phrase “Circus Train,” the first thing I think of is this whimsical train from the classic Disney movie, “Dumbo.” The whole movie focuses on the adventures of the titular character - a baby elephant with abnormally large ears - during his stay at a fictional circus. The circus travels from city to city, town to town, via the Casey Junior Circus Train, so called after its lead locomotive, Casey Junior. (The name is a reference to the famous engineer, Casey Jones, who would appear in his own animated Disney cartoon…but that’s another story.) Casey is the first train on this list who isn’t just a vehicle, but actually a real CHARACTER, with his own sentience and intelligence. He speaks in a voice that is made to mimic the puffing of steam, and seems to be a hardworking, determined, slightly child-like little engine. And, given the broad smile painted on his smokebox, we can presume he very much enjoys his work. Casey Junior has reappeared several times in the Disney canon since the release of Dumbo. Most notably, a non-sentient rendition of him appears in Tim Burton’s live-action remake of the original film, and there’s also a kids’ ride at Disneyland called the Casey Junior Circus Train. There’s also a water attraction at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World called the Casey Junior Splash and Soak Station. No matter where he shows up, this chipper Circus Train is as confident as he is colorful.

7. Tootle.
So far, all of the trains we’ve talked about have come from screen treatments: movies, TV, and video games. This is our first engine on the list who originates from a book. “Tootle” is one of many titles in the classic Little Golden Books collection of stories, and focuses on its titular character: a rather silly steam train by the name of Tootle. Young Tootle is a brand new locomotive, still a child, who goes to the town of Lower Trainswitch, “where all the baby locomotives go to learn to become big locomotives.” Tootle wants to grow up to become a Flyer engine, a fast express train, so he studies very hard…but there’s one important lesson he has trouble with: “Stay on the Rails, No Matter What.” Tootle is a curious little engine, and he starts leaving the tracks to play in the meadow and explore off the rails. With help from his teacher, an old engineer named Bill, Tootle learns that, while there’s nothing necessarily wrong with dreaming, shirking one’s responsibilities and ignoring safety is never wise. It’s interesting to see stories like “Tootle,” which effectively teach children, “know your place.” At first, that probably sounds overly authoritarian and ill-advised, but in truth, sometimes it’s genuinely important to know one’s boundaries and limits: we all have dreams and desires we wish we could fulfill, but it’s important to know which dreams and desires are worth chasing, and which ones could just lead to trouble. The book is one of the most popular in the Little Golden Books series; in fact, in 2001, it was named the third best-selling English children’s book of all time! The story has been adapted to a PC game, a children’s audiobook, and more. The character of Tootle himself also appeared in the animated series “Little Golden Book Land,” inspired by the entire collection. I read a lot of these books as a kid, and “Tootle” was always my favorite. He and his tale are definitely worth placement in the Top 10.

6. Chugs, from The Easter Bunny is Comin’ to Town.
This somewhat obscure Rankin/Bass special is a follow-up/sequel to their more popular Christmas TV tale, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.” Just as that holiday special told the origins of Santa Clause, this one tells the origins of the Easter Bunny. Part of these origins is explaining how the Easter Bunny gets around the world. Cue this little fellow: Chugs, a talking train whom the Easter Bunny - named Sunny - saves from possible scrap. Chugs is a little old engine whom no one ever uses, so Sunny buys him, cleans him up till he’s shiny and new again, and paints him in springtime colors. Chugs is thus given the job of piloting the little white rabbit and his train of Easter eggs, jellybeans, and other gifts for children all around the land. He also brings mail to the Easter Bunny’s home. (Because…well…we had to justify Fred Astaire returning as a singing mailman SOMEHOW, didn’t we?) I am convinced the reason anybody remembers this special at all is ENTIRELY because of this stop-motion animated locomotive. He’s certainly a big part of why I remember the movie; as a kid, I used to wish I could have a toy train of Chugs, so obviously, he’s got a soft spot deep in my heart. Oh, one other thing: Chugs is referred to as “the Famous Little Engine Who Could” in the story, which…I guess means this film technically also counts as an adaptation of that. Go figure. Speaking of which…

5. The Little Engine That Could.
This classic children’s book is actually based on an old folk story, which has been passed down through the generations. The railway folktale has changed over the years, but it’s the storybook publication written by Arnold Munk (published under the pen name “Watty Piper”) that has become the most well-known. In this version of the story, a train full of sentient toys and treats (I guess they must be riding through Toyland) breaks down on its way to bring its cargo to a town full of good little children on the other side of a tall mountain. The toys try to get various other trains to stop and help, but all of them refuse, either being too tired or too stuck-up. Just when all hope seems lost, a Little Blue Engine arrives, and she promises to get the train of toys and goodies to the town. All the way on the journey, the Little Blue Engine repeats a simple mantra: “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” Finally, her determination proves true, and the Little Blue Engine succeeds in pulling the train over the mountain. It’s a simple little story, which teaches a simple little message, but that’s really all it needs to be. The tale has been referenced, paid homage, and adapted numerous times: Chugs, of course, is inspired by the folktale, and even Casey Junior references it in a scene from Dumbo. My personal favorite adaptation is an animated short film made in the 1990s, which expanded on the story as written by Watty Piper, and featured voicework by many veteran performers; Kath Soucie plays the Little Blue Engine, and Megatron and Optimus Prime themselves - Frank Welker and Peter Cullen - also play characters in the story, just to name a few. Another adaptation of the Piper version was made in 2011, inspired by the 1990s short subject; that one featured talents like Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Warburton, and Jamie Lee Curtis, again, just to name a few. No matter which take on the children’s story you look at, its simplicity is as immortal as the tale itself. I think one can say this Little Engine has many more mountains to cross before its story is truly finished.

4. The Rainbow Line, from Ressha Sentai ToQger.
“Hold on a second!” I hear you all cry. “That’s not a train! That’s a freaking robot!” Well, you’re right, and you’re wrong. It is, in fact, a giant mech made out of magical trains. Yes, you read that correctly. No, I am not drunk. Perhaps I should start from the beginning: “Ressha Sentai ToQger” is my personal favorite entry in the Super Sentai franchise. This series is basically the original version of Power Rangers: that show is essentially made, for those who don’t know, by Americanizing the Super Sentai shows in Japan. While both use some of the same footage and costumes, and follow the same basic plot points of colorful heroes fighting rubber suited monsters and using giant mechs for each final battle, the stories and characters are often very different. “ToQger” is one of the few Sentai series that hasn’t really been adapted into Power Rangers (at least not yet), and I rather hope it stays that way. In this one, the visual motif is - you guessed it - trains, with the Rangers using magical trains as their transportation system, as well as the means through which they battle the monsters when “giant mech time” happens. I don’t know what possessed Japan to make “Thomas the Tank Engine: Power Rangers Edition,” but I’m very glad it happened, because this show is amazing. The trains of the Rainbow Line - the good faction of the series (the villains are called The Shadow Line, and they have their own transforming locomotives to do battle with) - are all unique and colorful, and it’s honestly pretty cool to see how they all come together to from the massive machines the Rangers use in combat. There’s a toylike quality to all of the engines (which I think is intentional, given the themes of this series), and I would sincerely LOVE to have real toys of each and every one of them. If a fleet of locomotives that can turn into a sword-wielding, laser-blasting battle mech DOESN’T sound equal parts crazy and cool to you…I would like to know what does.

3. The Polar Express.
The top three choices on this list all have the same things in common: all of them started as trains in books, primarily aimed at children, but have since become massively popular largely due to the adaptations of said works. The first of these is the titular train from the classic Christmas story, “The Polar Express.” Originally appearing in a book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg, the story arguably achieved critical mass when it was adapted into the still-very-popular 2004 animated film. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis, and starred Tom Hanks in multiple roles. Both are still considered staples of the Yuletide season. Both the film and the book have the same premise: the main character is a Boy who is whisked away by the titular magic train, which transports a group of children to the North Pole. It’s revealed that one of these children will have the honor of being given the First Gift of Christmas by Santa Claus himself that year. It’s a tale of belief and faith, both in oneself and in things beyond our ken. The book is well-known for its remarkable illustrative artistry, and the movie mostly lives up to it. Ever since the film came out, at least, it’s become quite popular around Christmas time for heritage railways around the world to have Polar Express outings, dressing up their engines and coaches to resemble the titular locomotive and its train. I’ve never gone on one of these trips, but even at my age, I’d still very much like to if I ever get a chance. The idea of this enchanted engine, racing through snow and mist to a place only children can understand, remains as powerful as it is entrancing. I dare say Christmas would not be Christmas without some version of the Polar Express.

2. The Hogwarts Express, from Harry Potter.
On the note of the idea of a magical, secret train that carries one off to a land of mystical wonderment…if one such express line can beat the Polar Express on that front, it would have to be the Hogwarts Express. Hidden away at the exclusive, disguised-by-magic Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters, and painted in vivid crimson livery, this passenger line is every aspiring wizard or witch’s dream come true. While the train, itself, seems fairly ordinary, many of the most memorable scenes in the Harry Potter stories take place aboard or around the engine and its carriages: from Harry’s first encounters with Ron and Hermione, to a flying car chase scene, to the first appearance of the Dementors, and more, many fans of the films and the novels alike well-remember the mystery and awe of the Hogwarts Express, both inside and out. In the films, the locomotive was portrayed by Olton Hall, a stately engine originally made in service to the famous Great Western Railway. It is currently preserved and on static display in London. Famously, the train was recreated into a full-scale, functioning electric line for Universal Orlando, where it acts as both a mode of transport and its own attraction. The Hogwarts Express there carries guests between the Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, with a special show inside the engine that makes it seem like you really are riding the rails between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. Having gone on the ride myself, I can safely say it is an experience even casual fans of the Harry Potter fans should enjoy at least once in a lifetime.

1. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends.
How many of us first became fascinated with railways, and especially steam trains, thanks to Thomas and his friends? I know I certainly did. Before things like Batman or Alice in Wonderland, “Thomas & Friends” was my first childhood obsession. I collected toys like crazy, gobbled up the VHS tapes (yeah, remember those?), and even read a number of books, including the original “Railway Series” books the TV show was based on (written by the late, great Reverend W. Awdry.) The TV show got started in the UK during the 1980s, and is still being produced and aired to this day. Naturally, over time, it has undergone some changes: originally, the series was produced using animated model trains. Then it transitioned to CGI for a spell…currently, the show has been completely retooled into the series “All Engines Go!” with 2D animation. Everyone who knows about the Island of Sodor has a favorite incarnation, and has grown up with a different era of Thomas…not to mention its characters. From cheeky Thomas himself, to his best friend Percy the Small Engine, to the vain and flashy James the Red Engine, to the villainous Devious Diesel, and so many more. All of them have fun personalities and different quirks that have stood the test of time, one way or another. For me, it’s the original Awdry books and the first six or seven seasons of the TV show that I will always hold fondest in my heart, but I can see the value in other renditions. What’s great about the show is that, aside from its whimsical and fantastical elements that can appeal to children, there’s also a lot of great lore and even connections to real life railways that adults can find interesting; it appeals, in its best versions, to all ages. For me, it’s a nostalgic piece of my soul: anytime I think of Thomas, or revisit the old stories or episodes, I’m brought back to a simpler, more comfortable time, in a way nothing else can manage. For that, and for being the main reason I love trains in the first place, Thomas and all of his friends on Sodor have most definitely earned their place as my number one spot on this countdown.

“Can I help?” Devon asked from her perch on the couch.
Levi’s back was to her as he grabbed a couple potatoes from the cabinet.
She sat up in her seat to try catch a glimpse of what he was making.
He glanced over his shoulder and she immediately faced her book–to pretend she wasn’t looking.
His eyes narrowed, “Just keep your ass on that couch.”
She peeked over the book’s brim to watch him turn around.
She watched him grab the potato peeler and get to work. With each movement of his arm, his dress-shirt tightened over his shoulder blades–outlining his lean back muscles.
She swallowed.
“You didn’t tell me how things went with your co-workers today.”
She didn’t hear his question. She was too distracted by the sight of him turning around to hold the cutting board over the trash, letting the potato peels slide directly into the bin. He glanced down at himself and seemed to notice that one of his shirt-sleeves had unraveled. He set the cutting board down before readjusting his shirt-sleeve, rolling it back up to his elbow.
He then grabbed a fistful of his dress-shirt and yanked it out from underneath his belt, untucking it.
He glanced up, “Devon?”
She blinked, “Y-yes?”
He silently assessed her for a moment before repeating himself, “Did Larsa talk to you about yesterday?”
She finally snapped out of her reverie and her brows furrowed. Something about the sight of him cooking was doing absurd things to her brain.
Are you serious, Devon? She mocked herself.
She ran hand through her hair, “Yeah.. yeah. She did. All my co-workers did actually. They were just concerned.”
“About?”
Her eyes widened momentarily before she looked away. There was no way she was going to tell him that they thought he was abusive.
“They just wanted to make sure I was okay because Iris told them that I looked really upset before I ran off. Obviously I told them that I was mad at… what you did. But I told them that you wanted to come in to apologize. They were pretty understanding, Larsa knew that you were only trying to defend..” me.
She trailed off. For some reason she couldn’t say it outloud. It felt too—
“What’s mine.” he spat.
Her eyes widened before she looked up to see that his gaze was fixated somewhere distant–his lips twisted into a harsh scowl. It seemed he was reliving yesterday’s occurrence.
His eyes flashed towards her, “What even happened to the–”bastard. He cleared his throat, “guy.” he muttered.
She quickly dismissed his earlier comment–not wanting to dwell on how her heart had flip flopped at his claim. Surely he’d just meant it in reference to her co-workers thinking they were engaged. Surely.
“Um.. I’m not fully sure but it seemed they both owned up to saying crude comments after we left. Larsa said they didn’t want to trouble you any further.”
“Tch,” he shook his head, before stating, “So you’re not fired.”
“No,” she absentmindedly fiddled with the smushed corner of her hardcover book, “I’m not fired.”
“Good.” he muttered before turning back towards his food preparation.
She watched him grab a pot and set it in the sink, letting it fill up with water before lifting it easily as he placed it onto the stove to boil–his shirt rippling over his defined back all the while.
She sharply looked down at her book–forcefully prying her gaze off of him with a subtle blush.
What’s mine.
Her heart leapt as she recalled his words. Two simple words that seemed to leave an imprint in her mind.
He’d said those words without a second of hesitance, as if there was nothing else to it–as if it were merely a fact. The earth is round, the sky is blue and she was Levi’s.
Even if he might’ve just spat out the words on impulse… why’d they have to go and make her feel like that?
She scoffed before flipping back a page when she realized that she hadn’t absorbed a single word she just read—too lost in her own head.
“Stop overthinking it.” she mumbled to herself.

Devon ran out onto the rooftop.
Levi stopped the door a second before it hit him in the face.
She glanced over her shoulder, a sheepish expression passing her face, “Sorry.”
He merely shook his head, “Brat.”
Her eyes widened as she insisted, “It was an accident!”
He stood beside her, overlooking the railing.
“Sure it was.”
“If I wanted to hit you, I wouldn’t use a door.”
He glanced over at her, “What would you use.”
She hesitated before raising her fists. He appeared unimpressed.
“They worked well enough last time.” she said in reference to their first and last practice training session on this rooftop.
“Tch,” his eyes narrowed, “That won't be happening again.”
A soft laugh left her lips. She didn’t doubt it—but she’d like to revel in her win a bit longer. And she did that by never offering him a second chance to fight her.
“Where did you learn to fight anyway?” she asked, “I don’t remember seeing those moves in the training corps.”
She was attentive as she watched him lean onto the railing. His eyes hidden from her as his dark hair swayed in the wind, covering his eyes.
Her heart jumped to her throat when silence followed. She suddenly felt like she was being blindsided again. But… she didn’t want to assume, maybe it truly was something he–
“This guy…in the Underground taught me,” his deep voice felt more detached somehow, “He raised me for a little while, after my mother died.”
“I never knew what he was to my mother but–he took me in. He taught me a lot. Taught me how to live in the underground.”
She blinked, stunned.
“Where… where is he now?” she asked–he spoke of him as if he were dead.
“Don’t know. Just up and left one day and never came back.”
“He didn’t–he didn’t say anything before he left?” she asked.
He shook his head.
“His name was Kenny.” he added, almost randomly.
“Kenny?” Where did I hear that name before.. She let out an airy, awkward laugh, “Like Kenny the Ripper?”
Even if the guy was an urban legend, she used to look up to him after what the MPs did to Kate. It wasn’t like she liked the MPs much before her, but Kate solidified it like a hammer to a nail.
“Exactly.”
His deadpan voice made her brows furrow.
He glanced over at her, “He’s Kenny the ripper.”
Her eyes nearly shot out its socket, “A-are you serious?”
At his humorless expression she gaped, “What the fuck? He’s real?”
He looked back out at the distance again, “Yes, he’s real.”
Her mouth was still agape as she processed that. Oddly enough, she believed it. It made sense in her mind–that he was raised by a killer. A killer of over a hundred MPs at that. It was no wonder Levi knew how to fight the way he did..
She stuttered over her words, “I-I don’t understand. How did your mom know Kenny the ripper?”
He turned slightly to face her, but his gaze remained fixed on the view before them.
There was a touch of gentleness to his tone, “My mother was a prostitute, and I was born as a result of it. She raised me there, in that brothel. Once I grew up some she’d send me away at times–so she could… see her clients.”
His hands tightened around the railings, “S-She saw a lot of people before she got ill. Kenny could’ve been one of em for all I know.”
He looked down before muttering, “If he was, he never said it.”
She stood completely still—astonished. This was the most he’d ever spoken about his past and the more he went on, the more she understood why he preferred to keep it to himself.
“Your mom’s illness.. is that how she passed?”
He nodded.
“I-I’m sorry.” the words felt so useless but she felt like she had to utter them regardless.
He merely looked away.
“Your father,” she asked, hesitantly, “Did you know who he was?”
“No, she never told me and I never tried to find out.”
She swallowed before a thought struck her like a bolt of lightning, “Is there a chance.. that Kenny is your father?”
His mouth opened for a second before closing. His thin brows furrowed.
“I- I can’t be sure.” he continued, “He didn’t talk much about her, but he’s one of the few who knew her real name.”
“Her real name?” she questioned.
“Everyone knew my mom as Olympia, but.. he always called her Kuchel.”
“Not like it matters.” he added quietly, almost to himself.
“No wonder you're so strong.” she murmured, still a bit dazed from all this new information.
He looked over at her.
“You were taught how to fight by a serial killer.”
He was still for a moment before muttering, “Everyone in the Underground has to fight, if you wanna live anyway.”
He glanced at her, “You know how it is.”
“I… I do but what did you do? After Kenny left?”
He released the railing and stood upright, “Anything I could at first. Things I shouldn’t have done but I needed the money.”
He ran a hand over his chin, “I got into a lot of shit—didn’t know what the hell I was doing. Didn’t take me long to figure it out though. Kenny gave me all the tools, I-I just didn’t have any direction.”
“Did you join a gang?” she asked.
It wasn’t uncommon in the underground. The underground thrived on gangs, mobs, all the like.
“No, but I almost did.”
“You were alone?” she questioned.
“No, I worked alongside other people but I didn’t find my people until later.”
He continued, “It started when I was offered to steal some ODM gear. ODM gear sells for a shit-ton and we rarely come by it in the Underground so when news broke out that some dumbass Government official was storing some in the Underground everyone wanted their hands on it.”
“I didn’t get what all the fuss was about so when I did the job, I kept one set for myself.”
Her eyes widened.
“In my free time I messed with it till I finally fuckin’ figured out how to use it.” There was a different undercurrent in his tone as he murmured, “It was just like what they said,”
“Makes you feel like you're flying.”
She stared in shock at the newfound glaze that had crept into his eyes. She’d never seen that expression on him before.
He shook his head, “Anyway, it made me realize I didn’t need the mob as much as I thought. Made me realize I could do more–and better.”
“I never really thought much about leaving the mob scene, being a part of it felt like the only shit I was good at. And it was the only thing that brought in money anyway, but..”
His eyes flashed towards her before looking away, “Obviously.. the jobs I took on.. were pretty shit. It was.. starting to mess with me–that dealing with other bitches dirty work was all I knew how to do.”
He leaned back against the railing, crossing his arms, “But ODM gear presented a different opportunity. I told a few of the guys my idea and some of em left with me. I stopped doing most of the mob’s jobs then. Started doing my own thing with the group I had–still wasn’t the best but it was a shit-ton better than before. Things got easier when I managed to secure another set of ODM gear for Furlan..my comrade.”
Something flashed across his gaze and he suddenly appeared gloomier than usual. She didn’t need to ask to know he was dead.
“Did you sell the ODM gear?” she asked, attempting to change the topic.
“No, we used it. It made it much easier for us to do our jobs–MPs could never get us when we were on those things.”
She swallowed–still somewhat mind blown.
Levi was a thug. Captain Levi–was a thug in the Underground.
And now he’s humanity’s strongest soldier.
And from everything he spoke about it was clear–clear that he’s done bad things before. He’s killed–she was certain of it. But instead of feeling fearful, she couldn’t help but find it so… so uncanny.
She’d encountered thugs in the Underground. So secretive and tight knit–people on the streets always had to be wary. They were incredibly foul and money-hungry. Merciless to anyone who came across their way–women didn’t stand a chance. Children, ha, they meant nothing.
The number of times she’d almost been taken, despite being a child—the only thing that had saved her was her legs. Running was the only thing that saved her.
Levi was also young when he’d been abandoned–but he was a boy so things were a bit different. Clearly, they were. He was lucky enough to have someone-a very lethal someone-to teach him how to fight–yet unlucky enough to witness his Mother pass, and his only ‘Father’ figure leave.
But instead of running around the streets and scrambling like she had, he’d been able to fight his way through. To even join the mob, you had to earn your name. And one didn’t just do that by simply existing.
She couldn’t even think about what he’d done.. or what he’s seen.. to get to the point that his ‘jobs’ began to mess with his head. Or maybe it was because Levi had an actual soul compared to those bastards. But-to think-the Levi standing before her was one of them at a point–she couldn’t even picture it. She didn’t want to.
She didn’t want to think about how violent he must’ve had to be–to prove himself capable of ‘jobs’. She didn’t want to think about the blood that rested on his hands. She didn’t want to think about how corrupt the people that hired him must’ve been.
To think he could have been one of the lackeys working for the Government official that had taken her at some point….even if it was just a possibility, or just hired temporarily when she wasn’t around–it didn’t sit right. It didn’t sit right.
He had to do what he could to survive, is what she tried to tell herself but—she had to know. She had to know if.. he’d done jobs like what her false adoptive father had done–or just hurt a kid in general. Or a woman. In the Underground, a lone woman was fair game to thugs.
She would know. She’d narrowly escaped several times.
It wasn’t like killing was any better but the thought of him possibly hurting a woman or child, job or not–
But Levi wouldn’t do those type of things–right? Levi would never… right?
“You.. you didn’t hurt kids, right?” she asked, the sudden rush of fear within her making her words come out fast and uneven. 
She subtly tried to step back, “O-or women–”
His eyes widened momentarily before he grabbed her wrist-stopping her mid-step.
“Stop.” he ordered. He was suddenly directly in front of her, “Women and children was my only rule. I’ve never hurt them.”
He searched her face–concern etching his features when she didn’t meet his gaze.
He placed her hand over his heart, “I swear on my life.”
Her eyes flickered up to his with a sharp inhale. Her breath nearly caught when she saw how steadfast his gaze was.
She believed him.
A deep flush appeared on her cheeks when she realized how distrustful she sounded–just when he’d finally been sharing more about himself. But.. he’d taken it so well. Instead of taking it personally, he immediately reassured her. He must’ve known what she was thinking; that she was thinking of her past.
His heart skipped a beat under her hand.
She squeezed her eyes shut, “Sorry, I just-”
“I know,” his monotone voice quiet. His spare hand tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, “I should’ve mentioned it earlier. Sorry.”
She was speechless. Her mouth opening and closing several times before she stepped back.
She couldn’t think clearly in his grasp–and she still had some questions she wanted answered.
“So how did you become a Scout then?”
He crossed his arms once more as he leaned back against the railing, “It was for a job. I was supposed to steal a document off Erwin and then kill him.”
Her mouth dropped open.
“It was supposed to secure us money and a surface citizenship,” his gaze seemed distant, “So I let Erwin recruit us-my two partners and I.”
She held up a hand, “Hold up, you’re telling me Commander Erwin Smith came to the Underground just to recruit you guys?”
He blinked, “Yes..”
She gaped once more, “What the hell–how did he even hear about you guys? Who even hired you to kill Commander Erwin?”
“Lovof,” he scowled, “that shitty Noble bastard.”
Her eyes widened, “Huh? A Noble reached out to you-an Underground thug-to kill the Scout Commander on the surface?”
A flash of agitation passed through his eyes, “Are you gonna let me finish or are you gonna keep repeating what I’m telling you.”
“Just how good of a thug were you?” she questioned.
“Lovof already knew Erwin was coming for me, so he cornered me into doing what his sorry-ass couldn’t. He knew we would want surface citizenships.”
She didn’t miss the subtle sneer on his lips. “But then–why would Commander Erwin come after you guys?”
He shrugged, “It was probably all planned by Lovof.”
Levi’s eyes narrowed as he thought about it more, “Erwin must’ve.. heard about us from the MPs since we kept bypassing them with ODM gear but-”
“You see–now that’s insane like,” she let out a short, delirious laugh, “Two thugs using ODM gear from the Underground-”
“Three.” he corrected.
She threw her hands up, “Three of you guys managed to get the MPs pissed enough to complain about you to the Scouts-which we all know how much the MPs hate-so just, imagine that conversation. MPs must’ve wanted to gag when they asked the Scouts for help. Only for the Commander Erwin to personally come to the Underground just to recruit you himself instead of turning you in?!”
“He wasn’t Commander then,” he retorted, before shaking his head as he grumbled to himself, “Course that idiot would want to recruit us instead of handing us over-even after knowing our plan–Tch. Bastard.”
Her eyes widened, “Huh!? You’re telling me he knew you wanted to kill him and he still recruited you?”
Levi’s eyes narrowed, “You're doing that repeating bullshit again.”
She covered her face with her hands as she whined, “Commander Erwin must’ve been so impressed with your ODM skills that he just had to recruit you, ugh!”
She removed her hands from her face, “I’m sick of you being good at everything!”
“What are you on about.” he snapped, before glowering, “Would you stop kissing Erwin’s ass already.”
“What–” she blushed fiercely, “I’m not.”
“It’s all you’ve been doing for the past five minutes.”
It shouldn’t have bothered him as much as it did–but, boy oh boy, he was definitely bothered. Jealousy was searing through him as if he’d just been set aflame by a lit match. It was even more conflicting because he knew where her admiration was coming from, but it pissed him off that she respected him without even seeing him in action. Nothing else to it–nothing to do with that fact that Erwin happened to be a tall, intelligent, not-so-bad looking male that caught her marvel.
She held her hands up, “Okay, guilty. Please continue. No interruptions this time–I promise.”
“Tch,” he shifted slightly–the annoyance clear in his tone, “I don’t even remember what I was on about. Point is, the job failed and I ended up staying with the damn Scouts.”
“Wait but–how’d the job fail?”
The second the last word left her mouth something seemed to shift within the air. Her brows drew together quizzically until she searched his face. His narrow eyes were staring off-adrift-as his jaw gradually tightened. His aura exuded something she couldn’t precisely describe.. it felt dark, uninviting.
Maybe he’d shared enough for the day.
She struggled to find her words, “Erm—you.. you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
He was quiet for a moment. He dropped his folded arms.
“Okay.”
They both stood, awkwardly avoiding direct eye contact before he finally turned around to face the railing once more. The set of his shoulders tense as he gripped the railing.
She bit her lower lip—suddenly feeling guilty. Of course the reason why his mission failed wasn’t going to be the most lighthearted story to tell and yet she’d kept shooting off questions like a curious child.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, “I didn’t know—“
His hands tightened around the railing, “It’s not you, damn it!”
He hastily released the railing, “It’s never you.” he grumbled to himself, almost like an afterthought.
He suddenly cut her glance before stuttering, “I-I mean, I don’t have a problem telling you.” his monotone voice a tinge gentler.
“That day was just a bitch, alright? I-I-” his gray eyes momentarily widened before he ran the back of his hand over his mouth while turning his head away. “I lost them. Lost them both.”
Her throat went dry when she realized what he meant—his two partners had died the day the mission failed.
Despite the flat tone of his voice, the sorrow radiating off of him was unmistakable. The look in his eyes was heart-rending. It was almost as if she could see something was tearing him apart.
He shook his head before looking down at his hands, “If I just hadn’t let them come along–”
He squeezed his eyes shut as he sneered, his shoulders flexing imperceptibility as he recoiled.
“Should’ve never left them alone so soon–” his deep voice constrained, so loathsome, “Should’ve never accepted the shitty deal–”
She suddenly reached out, her eyes wide as her fingers touched his lips, “Stop that talk.” her low voice strong.
Her fingers trembled against his lips as his narrow eyes met hers. The shadows under his eyes only made his silver eyes appear more iridescent.
“You did your best.” she said, her voice so gentle it was almost whispery.
She saw his neck physically constrict at her words before he closed his eyes, his brows furrowing subtly as if struggling to absorb her words.
His hands turned into fists at his sides as he stood rod-straight, “Did I.” his lips brushing against her fingers.
Just before he could turn his head away, her fingers cupped his chin–keeping him facing her. His eyes flashed open as he grabbed her wrist.
“You couldn’t have known.” she insisted, her fingertips shaky against his lips. 
His eyes were wide open as his jaw clenched–tears touched her eyes when she saw just how much pain he was in. The self-loathing and self-deprecation within his gaze was too harsh. She fought the tears biting her eyes to hold his gaze–refusing to let the cold, conflicted war raging within them make her yield.
Suddenly his grip around her wrist tightened and he tilted his face further into her hand–making it so that she was cradling one side of his face. His lips wavered against the palm of her hand. His brows drawn together as he squeezed his eyes shut. The ends of his dark hair tickling her fingertips.
He stood still for a moment, inhaling sharply against her palm.
His shoulders sagged before he slowly opened his eyes. His silver eyes pierced her with an unwarranted intensity as he briefly scanned her features.
“It won’t happen again.” he rumbled in a low murmur. A promise she couldn’t have known the weight of.
She swallowed, a tremor passing through her hand as his lips brushed her palm with each word.
Suddenly a perceptible shiver racked her body when a gust of frosty wind blew past them. Her open hair whipped in the space between them.
He hesitantly released her wrist before lightly touching her hip–unspokenly urging her.
“Lets go inside.” he muttered before his fingertips coincidentally touched the bit of exposed skin underneath her shirt–right at the rim of her pants. His eyes widened.
She tensed underneath his hand and quickly stepped towards the door to hide her reddening face. His fingers slipped away but the electricity of his touch remained.
She raised a hand to her elbow-using that arm to cover her side, the one that he’d just touched.
She peeked over her shoulder at him, “Yeah.” she agreed quietly.
He watched her carefully–eyeing her arm covering the hip he’d touched moments ago. He slowly drew together the fingers that grazed her skin into a loose fist.
She walked towards the rooftop exit first and he followed after her–leaving the cloud shrouded moon to its own company.

You start this episode on a plane. You are just waking up. Rayan is sitting next to you on the plane. Rayan kisses you and you two look out the window. You two could see a group of lush islands. Rayan and you are going to spend here 15 days. The flight lands, you pick up your luggage, and a limo brings you two to the hotel. The hotel you two are staying is the same from episode 5 alternate life Kentin. Darma welcomes you two and brings you both to the honeymoon suit. At the last minute, Rayan and you changed plans to go here instead of the Mediterranean region. Your Aunt told you about her trip and stay here. It just sounded like the place to go. Rayan and you are very happy with the room. You two deserved this after the year you have been through. You two kiss tenderly. After that long flight, you could use a shower. After you get out, Rayan goes in. You are both now only in your underwear. You suggest to Rayan to get a little massage. But when Rayan sees you like that, he wants to do something else. You think Rayan's right. He wants you to close your eyes. You close your eyes and Rayan puts your eye mask over your head. You are left in the darkness. It heights your other senses. You feel his hands move over your body, undoing your clothes. Rayan guides you towards the bed. There, his hands go over your body while he whispers in your ear; that you wanted a massage. He starts kissing your neck well, massaging your breast. The kisses go lower on your body. You open up your self to him. You don't know how long he keeps desiring you, you are totally lost in the dark. Rayan goes up again. His hand move back to your breast. Then he starts to kiss your breast. You can't take it anymore. You take off your eye mask. And pin him on the bed and go sit on top of him. You find the right rhythm and you both come undone. You both collapse on the bed and tell that you love each other. You both finish your breakfast and go back upstairs to get ready. There you get to choose your outfit. There is only one outfit to pick. Then, you decide also to bring the water bottle with you. Rayan and you go downstairs. There you notice that you forgot your phone. But you have no time to go back upstairs. Rayan and you go on the bus. It takes you both to the start of the hike. There, a guide welcomes you with instructions. Then you two start the walk. While you two are walking, the guide talks about the surroundings. You get to take a break when you can see the volcano. It is beautiful. Rayan and you are holding hands. You two wish to be alone. Rayan sees a path and you two start walking it. You both find your own little paradise. Rayan and you are hugging under some trees. You enjoy this moment a lot, but it is better to get back to the group. You two try to find your way back. But when you are back, the group has already left. You don't hear their voices anymore. Rayan takes out his phone. He has no network. But you have to find the group and start walking. You two have to continue the direction you took. Then you suddenly hear a voice. You both think it is the guide. Turns out it were parrots. You think you need to find a safe place. But it is too early for that, maybe you can still find the group. Rayan and you walk further. You have come to this place for the fourth time. Conclusion, you two are lost. It is already four o'clock. Three hours left until the sun starts to go down. Rayan sees it more likes a game. You make him clear how serious the situation is. Rayan and you need an overview of the place. You two decide to go back to the place with the beautiful view. There you see the volcano again. It is better to go there than to stay in the jungle. You are going to use the phone as a compass. Rayan and you find a waterfall, there you see some fruit. You take the big hairy fruit. Rayan and you walk further. Then suddenly a small tiger moves a cross your path. Rayan stays calm and establishes our dominance by looking at it. You two start to count and clap at the same time. Rayan takes a step towards the tiger, and it goes away. You are really proud of Rayan. You both walk fast away and find some water. There you take a little break. Then you find your way to the volcano. At volcano, you find a cave you two can stay in. You two use Rayan's shirt as a filter for the water. So you two can drink. Then you two need to make a fire. You are going to collect some wood. You walk to some trees and take the lowest branches. It took you awhile to get some, but you found enough for a fire. Now you need to get the fire on. It was a good idea to take your bottle with you. With a stone, you cut off the end of your bottle and use it as a magnifying glass to get the fire started. It keeps on burning and you have fire. You are proud of yourself. The night starts to fall. Rayan stand up to watch the sunset. You go stand next to him. He wraps his arms around you. You two stay like this until sunset. Then you need to eat something. You look at the fruit you took with you. A monkey comes towards you, and you share the fruit with it. The monkey leaves. And Rayan and you go sit in each other's arms. You could have fallen asleep like this, but something keeps you awake. You go sit back, up again. The stars look beautiful. Just like a real painting. People used to think that those stars were souls from people who died. You ask if Rayan still thinks about his wife. He does, the story he has with you is beautiful. But Rayan believes that she shines a light from above up on him. You ask Rayan if he is still sad about losing her. No Rayan has recovered from that. And after that, you came into his life. Because of you, he knows what love really means. Rayan thinks that if his story has been different. That he met you before he met his wife. His wife and he would have been good friends instead of love. If fate wasn't so cruel, this would have happened either way. Rayan thinks that his wife is happy to see Rayan this happy right now. Rayan thinks now of her like a friend that has gone too soon. You wish you could have met her. But she is now a star up in the sky. You two hug each other in the light of the fire. Rayan and you must have fallen a sleep. The light of the sun wakes you up. The view of the sunrise is incredible. You were probably the first ones to seen it for a while. You stay hugging each other for a few minutes while enjoying the view. What should you do now. Rayan still has some battery left on his phone. He walks up to the volcano to get some signal and opens up a map to make a path back. You could lose signal again. But it is better than nothing. You start following the path. You two found the waterfall from yesterday. These means you are on the right track. Then you hear a sound. It is the sound of a motor from a car. You two run towards it and find a jeep with the guide in it. They were looking for you. You were not the only ones who were worried yesterday. The guide brings you back to the hotel. Darma is there waiting for you. He is so happy that you two are back. Because of what you went through, you don't have to pay for your stay and the extras you want to take. That was the least he could do. Darma brings you two back to the room. Rayan takes the first shower, and then you go in it. When you get out, you put on your bathing suit. Rayan is already in the swimming pool. You go sit on the side of the pool and take off your bathing suit in front of his eyes. Rayan swims towards you and stands between your legs. You two share a kiss and you get the illustration. His kisses go down your body. You open up your legs. Your fingers are lost in his hair. He keeps filling your desire while you lean backwards. He knows you by heart and knows how to please you. You let out a moan of pleasure. Rayan gets out of the swimming pool and goes to lie upon on you. Rayan looks so beautiful with the sun behind him. You kiss each other while he enters you. You both keep on kissing. With each movement, you feel his desire. You both come undone. He goes to lie next to you and keeps you in his arms. He will never let you go, the episode ends.

the thing that gets me about the ep is tk’s justification when gwyn says he needs help - his defence that he’s never missed a shift, or been late, or done anything to compromise his job. that even when he was addicted to heroin, he had enough strength to get himself to every shift, to stay lucid enough to be on time. how much did that job mean to him, did being in Owen’s firehouse mean to him, that he fought to ensure he never ever let himself fuck that up, against the pull of fucking heroin? like. fucking hell that is intense.

it's an episode about dean not wanting, turning down, a woman. all while actually flirting with a man. his dad is dead and his posture is falling down. he's going for it he digs the haircut. they drink from the same bottle.

First, I feel it's necessary to clear this out: Levi doesn't remember what his age is. He stopped counting his birthdays when he was a kid and his mother got sick, and having no memory of his birth year ( and where no such thing as birth certificates exist ), he can't tell exactly how old he is. After all, he expected to die young.
Now, there's a mystery surrounding Levi's exact age in the works, and even though I don't trust the snk wiki, I've drawn some information from there to conclude on what his exact age could be.

In his wiki, in the trivia section, there's this:
Levi's age is one of several mysteries Isayama has hinted about in interviews. He once stated that Levi is "surprisingly old," but declined to give an exact answer beyond stating that he is "older than 30." In February 2016 he was interviewed again at the Attack on Titan "The Real" theme park, and when questioned about Levi's age responded that he is in his "late thirties." However, Marina Inoue (Armin Arlert's voice actress) later rectified and said Isayama made a mistake due to nervousness, and had asked her to correct that Levi is actually in his "early thirties." This was further confirmed in the Attack on Titan ANSWERS guidebook.
There was supposed to be a link to the translated interview that's no longer available, but if I find any further info I'll make sure to update this post.
Now, again I'll have to rely on the wiki, and point out certain years that will be important in explaining my thoughts on his age. These are:
829: This should be the year Kenny took Levi under his wing.
844: The year the prequel ‘ A choice with no regrets ’ following Levi's past is focused on. The year Levi joins the Survey Corps.
845: When the story begins. The fall of wall Maria.
850: When the main story begins. When Eren is placed under Levi's custody and joins the Survey Corps.
Having this information in mind and the fact that Levi in the year 850 he's in his early 30s, in the year 854 in his 30s, and the year 857 in his late 30s ( unconfirmed information ), in the span of 7 years, Levi remains on his 30s, meaning in the year 857 his maximum age is 39, and his minimum age in the year 850 is 30. Meaning his age range should be: 30-32 in the year 850, 34-36 in the year 854, and 37-39 in the year 857.
In my portrayal of him, Levi's 31 in his main timeline ( year 850 ), 35 in the year 854, and 38 in the year 857 ( the ending of the story ). With this information in mind, here are my thoughts:

Levi's born in the year 819. At the age of ten, in the year 829, Levi loses his mother. He's older than he appears, he's had plenty of time to live with his mother, and her upraising surely affected him. Around the same age, Kenny looks after him, and eventually abandons him, leaving a ten-year-old kid to survive on his own in the underground ( no criticism in my tone. okay, maybe a little ).
In the year 844, Levi joins the Survey Corps. He's 25 years old. Pretty old for a soldier, considering the minimum age for a cadet to enlist in the Survey Corps is around the age of 15. I imagine Hange and Erwin who are around the same age, should already be serving in the Corps for 10 years. It's also surprising it's only a year before the fall of wall Maria, the beginning of the story. The feeling I personally had at first, the story of how Levi joined the Survey Corps, seemed to me to belong to a long-forgotten past, when it's only a year, or even a few months before the Collosal Titan first appears. And by the time wall Maria falls, Levi had very few chances to go past the wall ( if not only one, the expedition he lost Farlan and Isabel, since in the expedition in the first chapter/episode, we spot Keith and Erwin but not Levi ). Meaning most of the expeditions he has participated, are those to recover the third wall.

One more thing that's been bothering me is that Levi lived in the underground for 25 years of his life. By the time he first appears as Eren's guardian, he has only lived in the upper ground for six. It's only 6 years of sunlight he's lived in. Which is . . . Heartbreaking. His criminal past, the death of Isabel and Farlan is only 6 years apart, and for the biggest part of his life he's been a criminal, not a hero. Interesting? Not at all, I know.
To conclude: Levi's born in the year 819, his age in the main timeline (850) is 31, by the end of the story he's 38, he joined the Survey Corps at the old age of 25, and very close to the main story.
