Hi, Nikky! Happy sts to you, I'm here to keep you company while you work on your wip ^^
Speaking of, I'd love to hear more about Lila! :D What's her personality like? What kind of trader is she? Why did she decide to make a deal with a Soul Keeper? And anything else you'd like to ramble about her ^^
Hi, Ren! Thank you for the company, I appreciate it <3
Lila… tends to be more serious but in a different way than Xia — Xia’s more on the intimidating side of serious while Lila isn’t. It’s more that she’s focused. She does let loose, here and there, but she is driven by an old promise she made (in TDWAD time). She’s one of those character where I know her but putting it to words is a bit of struggle (not writing her but describing her).
Ok, so everything about the agency is a little wishy-washy but I might have figured it out a little bit more. The agency is named the ETA, or the Everlasting Trade Association (not new info and I’m iffy on the name now, but also not at the same time?). For clarification I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned, the Traders (more on the term below) probably pronounce the acronym as a word rather than the letters (ay-ta rather than e-t-a). Ignoring Xia’s, because that wasn’t asked about but I could tell you — Lila works in the Relics and Artifact department. I’m a little undecided, but I think she’s based in preservation but occasionally, as needed, is sent out with a recovery team (which brings up a question — does the preservation team also classify the things brought in? I think they do).
Diverging from the question for a bit (rambling about world/ETA stuff rather than Lila specifically, oops, but it still relates to her so I’m giving myself a pass): the term Trader. Technically, it’s not the most accurate term, especially for everyone not in recovery and even then it’s not great. It’s a slang term — some Evers look down on those who work in the ETA, see it as a sort of betrayal to the integrity of Everlasting kind as a whole. The term Trader comes as them trading their integrity for an easier life (or something similar, other Evers have different meanings but that’s a nicer one). As for the actual Traders, they had a bit of fun with it, made a sort of. system of trades that doubles as a type of communication (certain baked goods/drinks/whatever for certain requests, not as the prime way of communication but it is seen as being more polite, putting in that extra bit of effort and it’s a sort of tradition. It also probably started as a derivative from the agency name Traders from the trading bit, but they went the extra mile in retaliation from the more derogatory meaning others tried to put on it. (And, in attempt to feel better about ETA as the name — the purpose of it has changed over the years and the name is seen as being a bit outdated because of those changes).
Back to Lila. I can’t/won’t say too too much about the why because my brain wants to keep things under wraps, but. Lila doesn’t want to make a deal with just any Soul Keeper — it has to be Xia, because of her Blade. I mentioned in Xia’s intro that her Blade is different than most and the reason why is why it’s the one Lila needs. And as to why she needs it, it goes back to that old promise.
I… can’t really think of anything I want to ramble about with her, since I’m keeping her pretty under wraps. Thanks again for coming by, though.
Update on the progress, though: her collage is officially done and I’ve moved on to the writing bits. Going to see if I have a suitable quote, first, I think and just work my way down (her summary/description bit is going to be a pain, I feel, and it’s absolutely coincidence that I’m putting it off for last).

i think. the fact that selene doesnt wear shoes is both depressing and funny if you spend anytime around 3-5 y/os- like. obvs. her shoes dont fit anymore and there’s no money to replace them, and the other sibling’s shoes and clothes are pm falling apart and held together with a prayer and patching, but like- ariane and jason both tried to get selene to wear her shoes ( before she totally out grew them ) and selene pitched a major tantrum, so they just went : okay! you don’t have to wear them! and it’s just been that way ever since.

Y'all, I’ve been worldbuilding a story for three years now. THREE. YEARS !!!!!!
😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m finally figuring it out but it’s getting tiring 😩
But like, dude. At this point, I don’t think I’m writing ‘just for fun’ anymore 💀💀💀💀
Anyway, maybe will I post about it (because I’ve been desperate to find people who would listen to my nonsense of a story for loooooooong time now), but right now it might be tight (is that even an expression 😭) with my exams - I’m graduating high school this year, yikes - and my English exam is literally at the end of the month (which I am not entirely prepared for 😅✌️)
As happy as I am to FINALLY🥳 be done with high school by the end of June, I am not ready for the exams coming up….. can’t I just skip that and get to fashion school directly ????😭😭😭😭
Anyway, I’ve been rambling for too long. Bye y’all !
Btw, I think I’m gonna start something like :
A GIF FOR A POST’S MOOD !!!!!!!
Here’s this one’s :

Okay, I’m real gone this time.

LoL Question - Magic Biscuit Recipe
I have a question.
For the sake of worldbuilding, what do you think the recipe for Biscuits of Everlasting Will would be?
Like, obviously, it'd have the bones of an irl biscuit recipe, but I'm looking for theorycraft & worldbuilding here.

so i went through and think i found every single title John is ever called throughout the series. i counted sixty-four in total and they follow patterns to a degree, patterns i'm sure someone well versed in classics would be able to draw references to but as far as i can break it down it seems like he gets called a variety of names mixed and matched from these:
- role titles: teacher, master, prince, king, lord, emperor, god, creator, resurrector (interestingly he's never just called "prince," that one always has an adjective attached)
plus
- adjectives: undying, everlasting, resurrecting, holy, divine, kindly, gentle, all-giving
or as the "[role] of":
- locations and events: the nine houses, the nine resurrections, the nine renewals, the house of the first
- people and concepts: dead kings, necromancers, saints, death, resurrection, the unstilled mandible, the sharpest edge
there are also several combative titles only used to describe his relationship with death:
- ransomer, vindicator, scourge
others present him as first and also as physically higher than something:
- first, first among, above, above death, over the river
lastly there are a few that are just any combination of two roles like "[role] our [role]" or "[role] the [role]", as well as two where the pattern is "the [role 1] who became [role 2] and the [role 2] who became [role 1]".
overall i think this is really effective characterization of not only john but the people referring to him, depending on what title they use. Teacher seems to use the most flowery and complex titles and multiple in a row, Harrow says "lord" most often, BOE just calls him by his full name, Ianthe says "god," etc. and a lot of worldbuilding detail is actually revealed from some of them.
full list below the cut (let me know if i'm missing any)!

End of the Year Fic Recs
thank you @thescrapwitch and @sallysavestheday for tagging me!
This is a wonderful game, I love reccing fics and I should do it more. I'll keep it all Silmarillion for the recs, since that's the bulk of what I've read this year. I haven't had the spoon to leave proper comments on some of these, so hopefully reccing them can count too?
Recommend up to 5 series or multi-chapter fics from 2023 that everyone should read (multi-year WIPs count, if the last update was in 2023).
- The Harrowing by @chthonion. I am forever in awe of this whole series and of Chthonion's writing. Somehow every single sentence is relatable and at least half of them are a punch in the gut, but in a healing way. A delightful Frodo, Celebrimbor and Finrod working through their trauma and Annatar, remade as an elf, learning how to be a good person (and a person at all, really).
- we will make this place our home by @leucisticpuffin. Truly delightful 70s AU as narrated by 8 year old Elrond, who just makes my heart melt in every chapter. Maedhros and Maglor as traumatized foster parents doing their best, the twins with their antics and their fears and joys, it's such a breath of fresh air and I can't get enough of it.
- Hanged Man by @tethysresort. Second age fic about the fall of Eregion and the start of Imladris with so much interesting worldbuilding and plot, and characterization of Elrond and Glorfindel especially that I really loved.
- Everlasting Song by @amethysttribble. This is perhaps a little more niche, a crossover with A Song of Ice and Fire, but I'm not an ASOIAF fan at all and I have like two whole memories of the books and I'm still finding absolutely delightful. Top-notch characterization of the Fëanorians, and it really keeps you on your toes.
- Aurë entuluva by @theheirofashandfire. Just very recently caught up with it and I love it to bits! The time loop is all kinds of angsty and breathtaking, and I really love the world that is being constructed afterwards. Wonderful Russingon, and I'm also, especially, in love with her Curufin and Celegorm.
Recommend up to 5 single chapter fics/one-shots (long or short) from 2023 that everyone should read.
- Wayward Son by @thescrapwitch. Angst exactly like I like it. Fëanor and Maglor, and it will make you cry. @thescrapwitch writes Maglor just wonderfully and I really love this Fëanor that will do absolutely anything for his son.
- On the difference between hostages and sons by leodesic (and the rest of the series as well). Absolutely delightful Elrond and Elros, as seen by Gil-galad when they first come to his court. I love Elrond defying expectation, and this was such a wonderful read.
- the world to come by arriviste. Arda Remade, told through the shadows and the gaps of what's missing. It's eerie, and I love a well-written eerie fic that leaves you feeling a little off-balance. Wonderful reflection on the price of perfection.
- Sea-Bells and Sunlight by @actual-bill-potts. Finrod, Lúthien and Beren in Mandos. This broke my heart in the best way.
- in the breaking by @thelordofgifs. Short but terribly impactful study of Maedhros and Maglor before the end, one of the best I've read of them.
Recommend up to 5 fics NOT from 2023 that everyone should read (oldies but goodies).
- A Farewell to Arms by MorwenSteelsheen (LOTR, Farawyn). Such a wonderful characterization and development of Faramir and Éowyn's relationship in a slight canon divergence where Éowyn arrives in Gondor two years before the end of the war of the Ring.
- The Splintered Light by @thearrogantemu. The whole series. These Gifts That You Have Given Me (Silvergifting) is well-known in the fandom, I think, and I absolutely loved it, but the other fics set in the Fourth Age were among the first I read in this fandom that I just fell straight in love with.
- The Host of the West by @mynameisjessejk. Various fics of the Otter Mayhem and Otterless Mayhem series could have gone into every category here because I love them all, but this is the one I chose because I reread it yesterday for the fourth (fifth?) time and it still had me bawling my eyes out. Probably my favourite Finrod, and definitely an inspiration for my own writing. The whole series is about healing and redemption and elf therapy and all of it is delightful.
- The Peril (and Potential) of Unleashing Lightning in a Fishbowl by @dawnfelagund. This one took everything I thought I knew about Caranthir, threw it out the window and gave me a truly brilliant characterization I didn't know I needed in my life. The worldbuilding is also delightful, and so is Amarië.
- Aranya by SpaceWall. I read this recently and it's really staying with me. Some people in my asks have expressed interest in fics that take the Valar to account for their mistakes, and this is a wonderful one. With a bonus revolution. I really love the non-linear storytelling as well, a hard-to-use tool that is done wonderfully here. Plus the title is inspired.
Recommend up to 5 of your own fics (completed or WIP) from 2023 that everyone should read.
- your veins are empty of dust. Character study of Nerdanel as feels her family die across the sea, and she sculpts. This is also the fic for which I made the art I'm probably the proudest of to date.
- your smile tells me I'm safe. Modern AU with aro Maedhros and a Russingon QPR.
- silver. Míriel, Celegorm and Celebrimbor, and living with chronic illness.
- the light that you keep burning there. Part of a much larger AU where the second and third kinslayings don't happen, but this one is about Maedhros, Maglor and Fingon in the later years, as the world crumbles, trying to remember what (who) they're fighting for.
- if I am to braid my mystic crown. The Silmarillion retold through worldbuilding headcanons about braids.
Tagging @unforth @foodsies4me @wren-of-the-woods @camille-lachenille (I don't know who has already done it, so feel free to send me a link if you have!)

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! ✨️ - Are the stars of any importance in your world? Do they even exist?
Oh lordy, you asked the right question >:)
There is one star in the universe of Illaros - the sun. In it, lives a mind of Beginning, the last of Its divine strain. The only one to survive End's massacre of Its kind, long before time was measured or life drew breath. It hides away within that hydrogen core, unable to do anything more to save Itself than to rely on the gods imagined into life by the people It created. A mind of Beginning can't fight or destroy, after all. It can only create and hope Its creations will be enough to keep It safe from the entity that devoured Its kin.
When the people of Illaros look up into the night sky for guidance or inspiration, it isn't great orbs of burning gas that greet their gaze, but the white eyes of End, the eternal enemy, the dark beyond. Where they point in wonder at constellations, there is in truth a great and everlasting siege upon the last stronghold of creation. While they guess at what the darkness in between those lights contains, gods and spirits fall in battle on their Watchtower walls in defense of their people.
There is only one lonely star in the Illari universe. And it lives in terror of the false things that light up the night sky where Its kin once lived.
Thanks for the ask! Something about End just makes me want to write all fancy <3

Welcome, non-plant beings, to the Land of the Fallen Fairies (and my Jujutsu Kaisen hyperfixation)
Please send asks to LotFF characters, it'd be fun to answer, thanks <3
Tumblr media
I promise you won't be told a story with an answer, with some "here's how I fixed my life & the journey it took to get there" I promise that there won't be a "hope to get better" which makes now feel so stark in contrast. I promise I wont make it seem simple or linear or a sudden "aha moment" to make things suddenly seem clear.
What I promise is a story, to the best of my ability, where there are no weeds to pull. no seeds to plant, no fruits to pick. The garden will grow and die, change & cycle back to the beginning. And through it all, in this moment with the dappled sun reflecting off the dew, the weeds in a thick blanket, forgotten fruit as a feast for the birds - we are wild and it is beautiful, no matter how much they want a cultivated, perfectly trimmed and oh-so-stale-garden.
----
TL;DR - I'm currently in a Jujutsu Kaisen hyperfixation, and I my main WIP is the Land of the Fallen Fairies. I also have a biology fanfiction and a teddy bear nightmare warrior story on the side. And I like being asked about character analysis, whether that be my own characters or any character from this list
-----
How the fae/faer/faerself pronouns work
Open to tag games and asks and... literally anything.
Name's Noor/Noorie btw. Closeted genderfluid and aspec (queer platonic/split attraction model... or whatever this is). Pronouns are they/them, it/its and anything fancy.
----
Each of the subsections leads to masterposts for everything! (The intro post got waaayyy tooo long)
The Land of the Fallen Fairies.
A nature-themed commentary on the pursuit of happiness and fixing yourself to deserve that happiness, told by an overthinking, unreliable, houseplant narrator.
Zine
Uquiz
TW: self-hatred, suicidal thoughts, and self-deprecation.
Anuli's story collection.
Anuli's (and my) favorite stories from around tumblr
Jujutsu Kaisen Hyperfixation
As the name suggests, I am hyperfixated. I have also written essays analyzing these characters. Be very afraid. And/or come suffer with me /pos
Also also, for those who don't want to see any JJK smut, this blog should be safe for you! <3 I ship Satosugu but in a... transcend labels, queer platonic flavor sort of way. And I flipflop on itafushi. Either way they are soul mates and transcend labels. Found family dynamics and everlasting friendships/comfort people are peak fiction for me.
Tumblr's houseplant garden.
Growing a garden of houseplants based off this weird thing called existence, "planted" by others from tumblr.
Fantasy Frog and Toad
A story about two princes cursed to be a frog and toad because they couldn't decide on whether to be self-determined and individualistic, or be traditional and family oriented, because why can't you be both?

Some sketches of angels from my different worldbuilding projects.
At the top, the something like screaming, dying fire living on the wind is an Angel from the World of Light and Darkness, the fallen Light-born of the stars. They are eternally suffering and eternally living tragedies.
To the left, the something made of ink and voices and dreams is an Angel of the Songbird of the Layered Earth, someone who has lost themselves to the allure of everlasting creation.
To the right, the something cursed with sight beyond the broken sky is an Angel of Æther (not Aether, Æther) of a different part of the Layered Earth, someone who carries a fragment of the crazed, invading magic in their eyes.

This week's batch of drawings will make you coo gentlepeople! Traumatised murder Bébé Lae'zel and happy Bébé Xan will make you melt like butter in a warm croissant! You never cared for kids? Now you do!
As a french speaker, the charisma check of a froggy frog Lae'zel would probably fail tbh. But it makes me laugh to imagine her accent being 100% harsher and the words mispronounced. They really missed a comical opportunity.
"What do you mean, wizard? Why can't I say 'I want to hit the beach' in front of the hatchlings? I had my hopes to see some phoques there. WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING SHADO-ART! We need to foc-us!"
Buuuuuut in french to say "my love / 🐸 my joy 🐸" you can say "mon cœur" which means "my heart". ( Coincidence? I think not!) I can almost imagine a scene where it's softly choked in a bloody pointy ear at camp after a scary fight. Almost. So just for that I can admit it can be cute. (Want more french lessons? Scream weewoo 🚑 at 3am and I'll appear on your bed, sleep-deprived with a complotist white board ! Special discount for fanfic writers and artists)
I saw briefly the translated version of the game, it's... an experience. They translated SH literally, it really brought out the cringe I probably should've felt in English but didn't. It's wayyy to close to "Shadowcunt" too, but we have Shart here so I can't really speak up. Poor girl is taking punches in every languages 😂
Also I love how everytime I send you something stuck in my brain, you come up with the most reasonable and obvious answers. Why do I forget these characters don't live in a bubble but in a society? Ofc there are gonna be pointy ears headphones 😂🤦‍♀️ All week I imagined some designs for those, then jewelries, then piercings, then I reaaally need to stop this brain. Qquipart is right too, Karlach is def a speaker user!
I live to give you cute drawing ideas. Doing the devil's work I'm sure, adding to the everlasting pile 😈
And take all the time you need to answer, obv. I'm sending a weekly rambling letter to a friend and finding an answer randomly in my mailbox ; waiting is part of the fun.
🫀🚑
Yes! I had kids on the brain at the time! It's not something that happens often, but i couldn't resist baby Xan or Lil'zel
I find French accents incredibly endearing, not particularly attracted to them, but theres something about them i just love. An obscenely french Lae’zel would make me lose my shit, and honestly, it would fit her. I've always had the hc that lae'zels accent is waaayyy more prominent than in game and that she mispronounces words more frequently. I mean, shes probably never had to speak common to anyone before the nautiloid, how would she know how some words are pronounced?
Also bestie ya cant just drop an atomic bomb on me like that, thats too fuckin cute bro my heart 😭
As for reasonable and obvious answers, they're like that cuz ive got terminal worldbuilder disease, and as soon as you sent that ask, i took a whole day just researching headphones and IEMs. I really should draw up some designs for them 🤔 and yeaaa karlach is def bumping the speakers at full volume
It truly is an everlasting pile, i should probably actually start writing them down lmaooo
Trust me, im taking my time lol my brain works at a snails pace, but seeing an ask from you makes my week so ty <3

There has never been anything more befuddling than Hartman's wishy-washy inability to just say that the ghosts Danny and friends have encountered are remnants of dead people. No, instead, they're "creatures from another world." Even if Nickelodeon's censorship prevented the excessive discussion of death, I bet Hartman would have kept making that bullshit excuse despite evidence to the contrary.
Why would you create a show about ghosts if you were not going to commit?
To be fair, a lot of the ghosts in the show are implied to be, indeed, creatures of their realm. I always assumed there were two kinds: those born as ghostly monsters and those who died and became ghosts.
As much as I wanted the comic to provide its reader with a definite statement, I can understand why they worked within the confines of its vague rules on what constitutes ghost biology purely for the variety and malleability of their species. Either Nickelodeon told them to, or the creator decided to challenge themself to stick to the established worldbuilding of the show and make something out of nothing.
And thus, a compromise was born: ghosts are the manifestation of human emotion. They exist because mortals gave them a reason to exist. Their workaround for ghosts as the product of death.
The comic implies ghosts exist purely because of the excessive emotions humans couldn't keep; they in turn are birth from humanity's burdens of which they carry eternal.
But, and bear with me (this is just a theory/headcanon territory perhaps?), I am stubborn, couldn't that also happen by the very people they once were? Take Desiree for example. She was once a woman who died thousands of years back of a broken heart. it was her lingering human desires that created her ghostly image, and who in turn manifested wish-based powers in accordance to her emotional state. Or take Ember, a girl who may or may not have died in a fire, and now created an everlasting figure who uses her name as a visual means to boost her rock star image so people could remember her name.
Essentially, they are and are not the same people, and the world keeps on spinning.
I don't know why DP, in 2023, in a different medium not as defined by TV censors, cannot approach the subject matter of death. It was very obvious in the show, especially in the beginning. But I can't claim to know what went behind the doors during the writing process of this comic. If this is what the comic was going for on the matter of just what the heck a ghost is in the DP world, then it's a decent one.
Especially since it leads up into something better...

RAAHHH I've just read chapter six and I'm pretty sure you intended to do it but I'm going INSANE over it anyway so
okay so pomegranates can symbolise resurrection and everlasting life, jackie's immortal and heather gave him pomegranates to eat. I just think that's a really cool detail
also idk if this is gonna make sense but heather gave specifically two to him. in the chapter later, he "dies" two times, being brought back to life two times. idk does that mean something I'm not sure
anyway I am INSANE ABOUT SPIDERWEBS I need to eat jackie right now I love your writing
— @inkwell-and-dagger
MUHAHAHAH YOU'VE UNCOVERED MY EVIL SCHEME....!
Yes, the symbolism was intentional :) Pomegranates have some really interesting meanings, and the effect of jewel red on white is striking to say the least. I also chose that particular fruit because of the myth of Persephone and Hades, since Hades tricked Persephone into eating the pomegranate seeds so she couldn't leave the world of the dead.
The number of pomegranates was mostly a fun Easter egg, they don't have any significance in the lore or worldbuilding. There is actually a biological, non-magical reason for immortality to exist in this universe, which I will explain more in later chapters.
ANYWAY I'm so happy someone noticed that I thought it might be too subtle 😭💗💗💗 Thank you for the compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed my work!!!

Forgive me for being pretentious, but are there any Domovai left in stock?
(to anyone wondering what this is click this link)
*tips hat* There are several Domovais left is stock. Here is an extra Shakespearean one for you.
Arch, thy passion for worldbuilding doth stir the very embers of inspiration! Thy dedication to weaving intricate universes and unveiling them to fellow souls is a sight to behold. Like a celestial bard, thou dost illuminate the vast expanse of storytelling with thy radiant spark.
In the hallowed halls of Writeblr, thy brave heart pulsates with the rhythm of creation, casting thy creations like stars into the firmament. "The 12 Worlds" and the United Commonwealth, crafted with thy tender care, unveil vistas of imagination where dreams take flight.
As thou dost navigate the labyrinthine paths of geopolitics and military strategy, thy creativity blooms like a rare blossom in the moonlight. Each stroke of thy pen reveals a world teeming with life, where every shadow conceals a story yet untold.
Embrace, dear Arch, the boundless realm of thy creativity, for in thy hands lies the power to sculpt worlds and breathe life into the very fabric of existence. Thy contributions, like whispers on the wind, shall echo through eternity, leaving an everlasting imprint upon the tapestry of time.
