Can you do the Evan’s dating a plus size girl? 🤭🫶🏻❤️
all that you are//the evan’s
pairings; fem reader with tate langdon, kit walker, kyle spencer, jimmy darling, and james patrick march
rating; pg13!
warnings; slight harsh language, body shaming, bullying
a/n: sorry to everyone that might not like what i’m gonna say, but i only write for the evan’s until they go up to season five with james. yes, i have watched the other seasons. i LOVE gallant and edward mott, but i won’t be pairing them with a female reader for obvious reasons. rory and jeff didn’t satisfy me all that much, and i still have mixed feelings on kai. yeah, i also like austin, but i don’t really know if i have that special little connection to his character yet. and no, am i fuck gonna write for jeffrey. that’s something that i’ll never feel comfortable doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tate Langdon;
• Tate couldn’t give a shit about how you looked, he loved you for how you truly were. From the way you treated him, he already knew that you had a heart of gold.
• He loves how you guys have the exact same style. You enjoy wearing baggy sweaters and jeans, much like himself. And he adores how confident you are when it came to wearing what you wanted.
• If any school girls even dared to make fun of you, well.. i’m pretty sure we know what would happen..
Kit Walker;
• If Kit falls in love with someone, it’s not for the breathtaking looks they’ve been blessed with. No. It’s simply for the fact that they have such a kind heart and a beautiful soul. That’s what Kit is truly attracted to.
• He admires every last bit of you. Size isn’t important to him, not at all.
• Kit fell for you, because you’re just you. You’re not hiding behind some mask or going around with a full face of makeup, nor trying to fit in with everyone, you’re you. And that’s certainly enough for him to love and cherish.
Kyle Spencer/Franken Kyle;
• Truth be told, the little soul can’t even tell the difference between you and other girls. Right enough, not that he would even care in the slightest.
• He gets really upset when he overhears Madison saying her usual shitty comments about you. Though that soon turns into a fit of laughter when Queenie punishes her for it.
• Kyle doesn’t have the kind of feeling to care enough when it comes to you’re size. You treat him in a way he’s always wanted to be treated, and he doesn’t need anything more than that.
Jimmy Darling;
• Uh, I think we’re aware that Jimmy couldn’t give a shit if you were big or not. We’ve seen enough to prove that, trust me..
• Most of the freaks respect you and treat you no differently from the others, Jimmy makes sure it stays like that.
• If Elsa even has the nerve to ask if you could be part of the show seeing as she thought you’re figure could be quite the ‘entertainment’ for some people, Jimmy would hit breaking point.
James Patrick March;
• James isn’t one for body shaming. His mother raised him to always respect a woman, and that her size shouldn’t matter to him. If she treats him right, then by all means he should show her the love and respect she deserves.
• He isn’t fussed about you’re weight. Mr March still buys you the best of the best. Including the fanciest clothes, jewellery, perfume, everything he’d buy for the woman he loves most!
• When the time comes around for his monthly dinner with the Countess, he’s sure to fire back at her sneaky, vulgar comments. Even Miss Evers will defend you as much as she can.
“And should we be expecting you’re new partner, James? I suppose the word ‘little’ isn’t a way to describe her.”
“You mean my loyal, new partner? Ah, yes. And I suppose that word isn’t something that we should mention when you’re the topic of conversation, hm?”
Yeah, he ain’t up for her bullshit today folks.

After getting back into Doctor Who recently I found out there's apparently a ton of discourse about David Tennant's return?
Don't get me wrong, I knew there was some mild irritation about it overshadowing Ncuti Gatwa's being casted. But.
1) As far as I know David Tennant's comeback was planned since way before they cast a lead for the new season. This isn't personal or anything.
2) David Tennant will only be here for a few specials. Then Ncuti Gatwa takes over and we won't see David Tennant again for a while. It's not that big of a deal, they brought him back for the 50th anniversary too, right before Peter Capaldi took over.
Apparently some people also feel like it takes away from Jodie Whittaker's departure which tbh? This happens with every Doctor. They cast a new actor, announce new companions or showrunners or whatever and the speculation and anticipation begins.
(To be completely honest, I hated the entire Flux storyline. Also not a fan of the new lore around the Doctor. They're just some guy with a box, they don't need to be the specialest little meowmeow in all of creation. I was ready for some changes.)
Also the incel whovians would've been loud and annoying about RTD's second run either way, too. Even if David Tennant hadn't been brought back they would've kept that "not my doctor" shit up and insisted RTD would make Doctor Who great again.
I just don't get why so many people who like Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa and David Tennant are this upset. There's so much good news to be excited about! Specials with our old faves (Catherine Tate 😃), a new season with a new Doctor whom we've loved in other roles, I'm excited to see what RTD does with the place the second time around, new companions are already announced (Yasmin Finney 😃). Why aren't we just enjoying this?

86 Thoughts while watching The OC season one episode 4: The Debut
1. I love that these early episodes really focused on the Cohens+1 as a family, and established these really deep dynamics.
2. Seth is such a shitty kid and it’s so funny in these early eps. It feels more endearing than like...shitty in later episodes.
3. Ryan getting adoptedddddddddd what a good lil math nerd.
4. Anyone who thinks Ryan is a bad boy I feel like you miss the point of the character. He has terrible luck, and a bad temper, but also, he is a MATH NERD who says whole sentences with his eyes.
5. “You steal a car? You burn down a house? You beat up the captain of the water polo team?” Let’s be real, Luke won that fight. Ryan isn’t a good fighter lol.
6. Kirsten is not a hugger.
7. Brody’s little groove walk is fun.
8. Califoniaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa here we cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme
9. underpants!
10. Seth rolling around on Ryan’s bed like a puppy. Sir what.
11. He doesn’t have any things.
12. Poor Ryan, he does not know how to deal with this debutante thing.
13. Peggy deserved more than two episodes, she’s so salty and I love her. Where did she go???
14. Jimmy and Sandy are such strange frenemies. Like Jimmy so clearly still has a thing for Kirsten and Sandy knows. He knows, and he knows they have to play nice (for now), but he is not thrilled. He’s a friendly dude mostly, so he’s not gonna start shit just because, but like. He knows it’s bad.
15. My big quibble with this episode is that the girls’ dresses look incredibly cheap. At least for the main three girls they could have gone higher end. Or maybe it’s just that 2003 style.
16. I know Luke is like “bleh Ryan” but I can’t help thinking of it as a lil bi panic.
17. Summer trying to bang Ryan. Ryan like “I mean she’s hot but...but...but...”
18. Ryan and Summer should have banged.
19. Like not a relationship. But just. Boning.
20. I’ve warmed up to Marissa as I’ve gotten older. She’s very sweet in these early episodes.
21. That is so much wine Sandy just poured Kirsten. SO MUCH. BRUH YOUR WIFE HAS A DRINKING PROB- we’ll talk about next season.
22. I love all the comic books just lying around as set dressing.
23. Ryan’s favorite comic is Justice Society of America, and I love that for him. It’s very classic superhero, but it’s not one of the BIG ONES.
24. Poor Kirsten, finding out about Jimmy’s dumb shit.
25. Sandy is in full lawyer mode. “We have to tell everybody this dude stole from them.”
26. I wish I liked these dresses more.
27. But god the music cues are so on point. The soundtrack for the OC is just top notch, all thees years later.
28. And ask the world to stay away please....
29. Ryan is so sweet. He just can’t say no.
30. Fucking Jimmy.
31. God damn, Julie just spending every last cent. She doesn’t ask ever about their finances. She just assumes. But Jimmy let her believe they were more than fine.
32. Jimmy is such an idiot. I wish I liked him more. He’s supposed to be charming. I love Tate Donovan. But god. That character.
33. Try to enjoy this, please! I love Peggy. Justice for Peggy.
34. The dancing. Poor Ryan.
35. Who let Adam Brody out of his feral nerd cage? Whoever it was, I’m grateful.
36. Summer is such a douche in these early episodes. Her character arc is amazing through the series. Truly. one of my favorites in TV history.
37. i still don’t quite buy Ryan and Marissa’s chemistry. Part of it is that Misha Barton is so young, and she hasn’t had time to develop as an actress. I feel like if she’d been like two years older when she played Marissa it’d hit harder.
38. Annaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. God I love Anna. Again. She has such good chemistry with Seth and Ryan. Again. Ryan should have been allowed to date Anna.  The two with the most common sense in the whole bunch together? Power couple.
39. Kirsten, stop trying to save Jimmy he doesn’t deserve it.
40. Oh Holly. I would have loved for her to get a redemption arc. Like still kind of brainless, but more mature. Less shitty. She comes back in s4 and has learned nothing.
41. Ben McKenzie eye acting choices.
42. Jimmmyyyyyyyyyyyy karma said “hey hi how ya doin”
43. Barbecutionist.
44. Marissa watching Luke’s friends and feeling just so done. Girl I get it.
45. Poor Ryan. He just wants to go home and hide in his pool house and read comic books and not deal with this dumb crap.
46. Luke’s weird toxic masculinity is pretty rough. He gets a nice redemption arc later where he just turns into a golden retriever. I love that for him.
47. Yep. There’s the JSA issue.
48. Julie really wants to be a good mother, but she puts so much importance on appearance and image and perception. And dumping all of that on her very sensitive daughter is cruel.
49. I love Julie’s eye makeup.
50. Melinda Clarke is such a heavy hitter in this series. Julie Cooper, Urban Cougar was such a thing.
51. Sandy not going either. Sandy said fuck that.
52. Again, these dresses...they’re just not...great.
53. lol Sandy and Ryan just....”Nah.” “Yeah, me neither.”
54. THE BONDING. THE VIDEO GAMES. I love this dynamic so much.
55. Sandy serving truth. “They’ve all got secrets and they’re all terrified that the guy nextdoor is gonna find them out.”
56. It’s such a sweet moment, and then “You just stabbed me again.”
57. Summerrrrrrrrrrrrr.
58. lol Anna and Seth spewing comic book stuff.
59. YOU’RE A GIRL. Bitch I have been reading comic books since 1991.
60. The birth of the Summer/Seth/Anna triangle/almost thruple.
61. I just tried to liken them to Roy/Keeley/Jamie but there is no grumpy asshole.
62. But if it were Summer/Ryan/Anna, we would have a Lasso Thruple sitch.
63. But not really.
64. Sandy is the best. I swear.
65. Jimmy and karma doin that dance.
66. Luke is, in fact, an idiot.
67. “Stop hitting a dude who didn’t actually do anything to you.” “I AM LEAVING BECAUSE YOU MAKE SENSE!” Oy.
68. Anna is so charming. I love her.
69. Julie just dislikes Ryan so damn much. Christ.
70. “Confidence, Cohen!” Ugh. So cute.
71. I love Seth/Summer but Anna/Seth was also so so fun.
72. “We’re gonna go this way.” lol
73. We don’t see Summer walk by herself. I think that was a missed opportunity.
74. Peggyyyyyyyyyy! My beloved!
75. The sweetness of this scene lasts all of three seconds before Jimmy gets slugged in his face.
76. I love that they were never afraid of the fact that Marissa was just a lil taller than Ryan. the visual works so well for the show.
77. Here we go.
78.”Bad accounting.”
79. hot damn y’all this old man fight lol.
80. Julie’s shaking fingers is such a nice touch in this moment.
81. I guess Sandy figures karma has done its job on Jimmy and now he can be supportive. lol.
82. Seth and Annaaaaaaa. Jesus so cute. Even though they’re kind of the same person lol.
83. Another great music cue. To Sheila, by the Smashing Pumpkins.
84. I just. I want to like Marissa more. I’m still not sure why I can’t get there all these years later.
85. LOL Luke. With the weird sneak attack.
86. And that’s it. A last shot of Ryan alone, who should be heading home to avoid the police.

Hi! I love your blog sm!! Could I pls request the evans with a manic pixie dream girl gf? Or just a Tate fic about having a manic pixie dream girl gf bc Tate is my absolute favourite 🥺 thank you !! <3
The Evans x MPDG
warning: idfk. soon i’m not gonna tag for language because this is tumblr you can’t expect to not see the word fuck
note: no jimmy, rory, austin, or whatever the fuck was in apocalypse because i haven’t bothered to watch seasons 4 and 10, and i just don’t want to write about ginger or bowl cut evan today. sue me. also i feel like i’m missing someone here. if i didn’t write about your favorite character i’m sorry
Tate:
tate is kinda like the sad boy archetype that falls in love with the mpdg in every movie
his life is boring and pointless, then he meets you
he’d write some poem about you, calling you ‘his sunshine, the only light he’d ever known’
and one day you’d drag him to an open mic night at a coffee house and force him to sit amongst the masses
you read out his poem and he’s absolutely mortified
but he waits until you are outside to kiss you, his way of saying thank you
he mostly just entertains your madness, he lets you come to him with all your bullshit things you say and he listens
he never reciprocates it much, never being high energy or whimsical, but he always admires you for it, whether it be by words or just by the adoring way he looks at you
you give all his favorite songs new meanings, you take him to do things he’s never done, and before he realizes it, he’s finally living, instead of merely surviving
you’re truly a spectacle and he never wants to take his eyes off of you
Kit:
he loves how silly you are,, finds it so endearing and pretty
he loves joking around with you like kids, and your spontaneity charms him every time
although sometimes you are a bit much for him
he loves you so much, and he wants to marry you and settle down and have kids
but you’re not sure the words ‘settle down’ will ever be in your vocabulary
it’s nice to have someone solid to fall back on when things crash and burn but he wishes things weren’t always crashing and burning with you
he cares too much about you, and doesn’t want to see you get hurt one way or another
and you’re so magnetic to everyone around you, he’s always terrified of losing you since he never matches the energy you give to him
Kyle:
the most manic pixie dream boy on this list
not kidding either
in a mainstream way, if that makes sense, like you would still have to introduce him to good music
niche but i imagine this song being ‘your song’
often times you butt heads with who gets to take who on an exciting, life changing, world shattering date because you both have something planned
he doesn’t always have the time to be crazy with you, but if you catch him in the right mood, he’d be willing to drop class for the day and drive out of state
late night impromptu dates, like grocery shopping or graveyard visiting
on that note, he’d take you to a graveyard and make up stories about the most unusual graves, like the youngest ones, the ones with strange gravestones or notes, and whoever can make the best story doesn’t have to pay for dinner later
he’d always end up paying, you’re just too good to beat
James:
you’re a breath of fresh air to him, especially once he can’t keep murdering hotel guests anymore
you keep things interesting, eternity in the hotel doesn’t seem so bad when he has you by his side, finding new things to do everyday, throwing him off daily but he loves you for it
he’s very hesitant to do some things, however, like throwing water balloons at people from the roof, but he enjoys the chaos and mild inconvenience it bestows on the victims
and he does love your weird food combinations you come up with on the spot during dinner, he tries to stomach them every time, even when you mix strawberries into your soup
he really doesn’t mind how little you sleep during the night, he doesn’t sleep at all, so he can just spend the empty hours alone with you, which is more than he could ever ask for
he reads you his favorite books from his youth and without fail, you give him a new way to look at the stories, a new perspective on things
he cares an awful lot about you and your eccentricity, and he always avoids saying no to your schemes
Kai:
pisses him tf off
hates when the attention is on you during cult meetings
ignores you and your madness at all times
certainly does NOT get all soft when you’re alone together
absolutely NEVER plays into the little stories you make up on the spot or random impressions you do when you’re bored
DEFINITELY DOES NOT do silly little things like letting you do his makeup to look like you, buying you books of poetry, or flowers that reminded him of you
is in NO WAY effected long term by your spontaneity, certainly he doesn’t enjoy his life 10x more since you came into it and made it inherently better
this is kai anderson we’re talking about, he’d never cuddle up with you and listen to you talk all about your adventures from the day, all the dogs you shook hands with, all the strangers you greeted like friends, the ‘meaningful’ pieces of trash you collected off the ground to plaster on your bedroom walls
no, he’s a cult leader, he would NEVER buy into all that sappy shit

hii sofi!! it's been such a long time and i miss our interactions :(
how are you? i hope everything is good!!
i came here to ask what are your expectations for this all star weekend, bc the time passed so fast for me that i didn't even realized we're already in this part of the season and i'm still shocked lol
lots of love <3
hiii li <3 it's so nice to hear from you lovely, i've missed you a ton! i'm so sorry i miss our interactions too :(
i'm doing sorta alright! my blog has been running on queue for a couple days bc i wasn't feeling great :/ but nothing bad dw and i'm feeling a bit better today, so i'm here to yap ! how are you tho? it's fr been a long time since we last spoke
i love this question sm and same!! i believe i became a proper fan around december or january of last year so i don't remember it feeling this fast, but this season flew right before my eyes 😭😭 i was having breakfast when i saw the announcement of quinn being captain and now he's about to finish his first season as one? that's still crazy to me.
but i feel like i haven't payed enough attention to it but here are my predictions for the skills rounds.
fastest skater: connor mcdavid
hardest shot: auston
passing: leon
one timers: mackinnon or auston
stick-handling: willy or petey
accuracy: auston or pasta
these might be all wrong and tbh as long as davo doesn't win every single one, i don't care as much 😭😭😭 would love it if there were more players involved in the skills thing but people aren't pleased with the 1 player per team rule so ig this is a way to keep everyone at peace ✨️
HOWEVER i'm super excited to see watch the draft with the celebrity coaches (go team aus & mo !!! but ... i have to root for tate and nathan too bc it's too iconic not to) and the cash prizes! i wish a lot of the guys who were selected and then got injured could have gone, but they're probably enjoying their break much more now so 👍
i'll be glued to my tv when the pwhl showcase happens tho. those are my favorite girls, that's my main event, my super bowl. as well as tate's performance 😭😭 i think that's going to help grow the league a lot this year and i'm really happy about that :)) can't wait to see bjorky and all of my leafs guys slay ofc ! but honestly my mind is a liiiiitle more focused on the trade deadline and then playoffs :(
this yap ended up being way longer than i intended it to be sorry li 😭😭😭 do you have any predictions tho? i would love to hear them <3 love love love u

My thoughts on "The Giggle"
Obvious spoilers for all three 60th anniversary specials of Doctor Who!!
Neil Patrick Harris's toymaker was fantastic. The writing for the character, the little details and quirks, the performance??? Just absolutely magic.
The madness of the giggle was also done really well, always just skirting the line of effective social commentary and annoyingly on the nose. I also loved the explanation for it, and their process of investigating it
Again, both David Tennant and Catherine Tate were firing on all cylinders.
I'm still not sure how I felt about the whole bigeneration thing. It felt like a bit of an ass pull, not to mention it sort of cheapened the emotional impact this story could have had. That being said, the catch scene was very fun, and Ncuti Gatwa's doctor in his underwear was very silly and fun.
I wasn't particularly affected by the family dinner scene, and especially considering this other doctor has his Tardis still, I worry this will cheapen regeneration and Ncuti's doctor going forward. The whole "bigeneration was a myth" explanation was so weird considering a reality warper was standing right there. If they wanted their big fan service multi Doctor scene I would have preferred that explanation.
Speaking of Ncuti Gatwa, what we saw of him here was very nice. He was very charming and felt like he just had this childlike glee. Obviously didn't get enough of him here to make a judgement but I'm very excited to see more of him.
My mom wishes they had more of the Noble family (especially Rose) in this story and I really need to agree. I think her being in these more might have made that family scene actually work.
I'm sure it was great for og fans of the sixth doctor, but as someone who has only seen a few of his early adventures and a couple of the comics, I really did not care about Mel. I think these classic who companion returns really need more focus of their own to be anything more then hollow fanservice (similar to Sarah Jane Smith's return.)
This may sound like I hated this episode but honestly I truly did not. This was a really solid, silly, and entertaining doctor who story, much like every other special we've had so far. I really enjoyed them and I'm super excited to watch the new season.

Out in the Middle: Part 4 (Rhett x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: When the kids are sent out to the fields for a day, they’ll always come back with something
The pack of kids yelled and laughed as they raced through the fields full of apple trees, blueberry and blackberry bushes, the October sun high overhead and the heavy smells of fall in the air.
“How many apples do we need again?” Amy asked Tate.
“Grandpa said to fill up thirty buckets and hell come and get’em,” Tate answered. “We’re gonna sell’em at a farmer’s market on Sunday after church.”
“Hey guys,” Joey piped in, holding a pair of fresh apples against his chest in a manner that was a little too suggestive for an eight year old. “Check out my apples.”
The palm of Tate’s hand smacked against his face while a rather disgusted “ew” came from Amy. Joey laughed and ran off to join the others while Amy and Tate began gathering as many apples as they could and tossed them into the wooden buckets.
All of them enjoyed every minute of it, picking whatever they wanted and even eating a few things right off the branches. Amy and Tate, the two oldest at nine years old, remained in charge of the others, shaking the branches to make some of the apples fall and teaching the youngest ones to twist them off and never to yank as their grandfathers would tell them time and again.
None of them could have asked for a more beautiful day out in the field. The kids hardly wanted to go indoors at all as they roamed and rolled in the fields, trying to pick out the hugest pumpkins out of the patch and sticking them in the barrels. Unfortunately the littlest ones had gotten into the berries, their mouths and cheeks stained with red and purple juice that definitely wouldn’t be coming off anytime soon.
“I can’t wait for Halloween,” Tate told Amy as they both munched on a freshly picked apple. “Grandpa said I could go as Eddie from Stranger things and that I could have a fake guitar and everything, but it still plays the music.”
“Lucky!” exclaimed Amy.
“Do you wanna go as Max?” Tate asked her. “I bet my play teacher has stuff from when we did Peter Pan that can make you float.”
Amy had been about to answer when she saw Frankie and Harvey running up to them, their mouths, hands and faces stained with red and purple juice. “I got a purple!!!” Harvey shouted.
“Uh oh.”
“Let’s get back to the house,” Tate suggested
************************
“Alright, keep that end tight!” Rip called out to the others.
Herding buffalo into the pens was never an easy task, even for the most seasoned of ranchers. You, Rhett, Rip, Beth and the other hands carefully herded them all in as best you could, some of the calves beginning to bawl at having been separated from the females.
“Shut the gates!”
Colby, Teeter and Jimmy shut the gates to the paddock and locked it as best they could, the gates creaking and groaning as the big creatures lumbered their way towards the stables where they slept during the nights. Sunset was coming earlier and earlier these days along with the cold snaps at night and when November came, so too would the first snowfall.
“Oh my shit,” Teeter laughed.
“What’s up?” Jimmy asked her.
“Them headcases came home for dinner,” she answered.
Jimmy turned to see the whole pack of kids making their way over the hills, their clothes spattered with dirt and a few grass stains while the younger ones faces were stained with a dark colored juice. “Oh my God,” he laughed.
It wasn’t long before everyone caught sight of them, the parents and grandparents laughing at the sight of their dirty children.
“Ah shit,” muttered Rhett.
“Muddy kids?” you asked.
“Brace yourself (y/n), bathtime is gonna be hell tonight,” he chuckled.
Rhett dismounted from his horse as Harvey and Frankie came running up to him, their faces COVERED in smears of the dark juice. “What the hell did you two get into?”
“We got a purple daddy,” Harvey chirped.
“Ok, ok,” Rhett said, picking him right up off the ground. “You little monsters are all gettin baths tonight whether ya’ll like it or not.”
The parents called all their children in for the night while the hands turned it in themselves, the day’s work finally finished, much to their relief.
“Oh my God,” John laughed when he saw the pack that marched right into the house, kicking their dirty shoes off on the hard plastic shoe tray in the entryway.
“What the hell’d they do all day?” Royal asked.
“Out in the fields Dad, that’s all ya gotta know,” Rhett told him.
John and Royal laughed when they saw their mud covered grandchildren marching it on upstairs to clean themselves off. “Well,” John remarked. “It’s better than what we used to do.”
“Don’t remind me,” Royal told him.

Lovely @caromitpunkt tagged me to list 9 of my favourite shows in no particular order.
Now, I haven't watched a show in a loooong time, so let's see if I can think of nine shows in general 😅
1. The Simpsons: ultimate comfort show. I watch reruns in TV when I'm at my parents. I think I've seen every episode (till season 20) about ten times each.
2. IT Crowd: another comfort show. It makes me laugh every. Single. Time.
FIRE, exclamation mark, FIRE, exclamation mark, HELP ME, exclamation mark. 123 Carrendon Road. Looking forward to hearing from you. All the best, Maurice Moss.
ICONIC.
3. Black Books: look, I have a lot of comfort shows that I keep watching over and over, don't judge me. And Bernard doing his tax returns lives in my head rent free.
4. Monty Python's Flying Circus: this show has shaped my sense of humour. Either you find Monty Python's humour funny or you can't be helped. I'm happy I'm in the first groups. I remember way too many quotes from the show instead of important things. But I don't care.
The. Larch.
5. Derry Girls: one of newer shows that have the comfort show potential. I haven't watched the last season yet. But hey, as a fan of Take That, I LOVED the episode when they went to the show.
6. Skam: I think this is the only show that I binge watched. I don't do binge watching because of my attention span and there's always something that has to be done and you can't spend the whole evening, night and morning watching a TV show, but Skam (and Druck) did it.
7. Gilmore Girls: the older I get, the more annoying I find both Lorelei and Rory and I wish I could forget the clusterfuck that was Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. But this show was a too big part of my life to not mention it. (And Rory jumping with Logan from that scaffolding with umbrellas? Poetic cinema.)
8. Doctor Who: I haven't watched all episodes, it is a show I keep telling myself "when you have the time, you'll catch up with the rest of the episodes" but it's hard to find the time with a full time job, a life AND multiple hours of cycling to watch every day 😅 I find some of the companions annoying (cough Amy cough), but the comedic genius duo that was David Tennant and Catherine Tate is iconic.
Don't blink.
9. Mistresses: (the UK version PLEASE) look, I'm gay. And there's Sarah Parish and Orla Brady in this show. There are few moments that make me want to climb the walls (in a good way). Too many 'we shouldn't be doing this' that I enjoy way too much. Another sort of comfort show. Did I mention Sarah Parish is in this? 😍
Now, my least favourite part, tagging 🫣 @1337wtfomgbbq @snark--maiden @catsanyesz @mwrites666 @missanathea @paris-roubaix @sunflowersofme @stylesbandshirts @emsails and anyone who wants to chime in and share their fave shows. No pressure, of course!

Doctor Who: Horror Of Glamrock Review
Introduction
Having Big Finish free on Spotify is truly a blessing in disguise and absolutely amazing. I do not regret beginning to listen to these now. Something I've noticed is how experimental Big Finish is and I find that a huge strength. This story was very unique and fresh and I enjoyed it alot.
Its hilarious to me that people were moaning about a musical number in Doctor Who when Big Finish did it first in this story. Sure Paul MacGann didn't burst into song but it was quite something and very fun. This is one of the stories that has cemented and helped me understand Paul's Doctor and his complex personality.
Tumblr media
What I Liked
There's so much to rave about when thinking about this audio drama.
First I loved how creative the concept was and how unique it was. It embraced it's goofy sci-fi style and was fun to listen to. Although a group locked in a room having to hide from a monster isn't new, this concept absolutely is and it was a blast. Loved how we had to rely on audio cues to get the sense of how terrifying the only ones are. Would love to have these guys adapted into live action sometime but for what they were, they were a great villian.
Secondly, I have to praise the incredible music. Tim Sutton did an absolutely fabulous job scoring as every piece of music was an earful delight. They got the Glamrock music aesthetic down and it was nice to listen too. Campy songs aren't done often in Doctor Who but Big Finish does it wonderfully here. There's another story later in this season that also has great music but it'll talk about it when I review that story. Anyway in short, to rock music fans, your in for a treat. Especially with the campy and fun Doctor Who theme variation at the end.
Again the performances. Everyone killed it and made this fun but weird story wonderful. I have to say that Big Finish know how to create a good side cast of characters and I love them for it. So often I grow little to care for any side characters who appear but in Big Finish they're all memorable in the end. It creates a welcome change that I very much like. Paul MacGann killed it as the Doctor and created a complex Doctor with lots of wisdom but still one who's still eager and desperate to help others. He also perfectly portrayed The Doctor's darkside when stakes got higher in the story. I've found myself really getting attached to his character. Lucie Miller was ace in this story too and Sheridan Smiths portrayal just amplifies the characters brilliance even more. Sheridan Smith walked so Catherine Tate could run. She portrays a character still getting use to the Doctor and his time travel antics really well. Side Characters gave amazing performances too. Bernard Cribbins, I know he did this in 2003 but it tears me up to hear his voice again even if he's in a more villainous and morally grey role, just goes to show his incredible range. Una Stubbs also does a fab job as the witty and sassy waiter Flo, she's so charming that I almost pictured her as a companion. Stephen Gately and Clare Buckfield were wonderful as the Tomorrow Twins and had great chemistry together. Both of them really work well together to sell this dynamic and show their contrasting personalities. Lynsey Hardwick was also great as "Auntie Pat" and I hope she'll appear in other stories. Everyone is great and it's almost impossible to praise anything without mentioning the stellar acting.
Finally Lucie and The Doctors dynamic. My opinion after listening to this tardis team is very fluid but this is one of the stories where they really work. They are much more tolerable than they were in Blood Of The Daleks and they're actually really entertaining. I love how despite being only three stories in they're working together as a team and how much potential for good growth they have.
Overall fantastic, absolutely fantastic.
What I Disliked
Pacing, I love these episodes in the style of a New Who format but sometimes it can cause a lot of pacing issues. One such issue is that it gives us less time to build up the side characters and make us care about any death's that might happen. I know it's suppose to be a Doctor Who story but it still feels a bit fruitless to have character deaths without the proper build up.
Other than that though I really enjoyed it and there wasn't much that spoiled it really.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Another fun and fresh adventure that was a pleasure to listen to it. Its theme blends through the story brilliantly and the villian has a really sinister layer underneath once everything comes together. Doctor Who is at it's most fun when it's embracing it's weird sci-fi campy nature.
I recommend every story I've listened to in the 8th Doctor Adventures range but this one specifically if your look for a fun inventive story.
Really love the 8th Doctor's characterisation and development he's going through in the audios. I loved him in the TV Movie but he's on another level in the audios.
So glad I chose the 8th Doctor Adventures as a start to diving into Big Finish its been really fun and interesting.
The First Season Of The 8th Doctor Adventures are free on Spotify and it has been so worth it giving them a listen. Highly recommend.

'David Tennant met Doctor Who comic creators Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons on the set of the 60th anniversary special "The Star Beast." The first of Russell T Davies' three anniversary specials led by Tennant and Catherine Tate adapted the story of Mills and Gibbons' 1979 Doctor Who Weekly comic strip of the same name. In "The Star Beast," the Fourteenth Doctor (Tennant) and Donna Noble (Tate) are swept into an intergalactic pursuit when an alien fugitive crash lands in London.
With the Doctor Who special "The Star Beast" introducing the Meep (Miriam Margolyes) and the Wrarth Warriors, original creators Mills and Gibbons were invited to see their creations come to life on set.
As revealed in the behind-the-scenes show Doctor Who: Unleashed (via @darkwillowz), Mills and Gibbons were joined by host Steffan Powell and Tennant, allowing the actor to receive a signed issue from them and express his love for the comic strip...
Tennant: I got this every week. And I remember this comic strip.
Gibbons: You stole it or you paid for it?
Tennant: I paid for it! Well, my parents did – I mean, I was only nine. But this is so… When I first got the script, and I saw what it was based on the front page, I… it all came back so vividly. I remember these comic strips so clearly.
Mills: That’s great.
Powell: So you remember reading this story?
Tennant: I remember all of them! The Iron Legion, and The City of the Damned. And of course this one, yeah. Very clearly.
Gibbons: He’s passed the test, he remembers all the names, Pat. He’s a genuine fan.
Tennant: It’s true!
Doctor Who Has A History of Expanded Media Tales Influencing The Main TV Series
Mills and Gibbons join a number of expanded media writers who have had their work brought into the main Doctor Who television series. Returning showrunner Davies' first contribution to Doctor Who was not the 2005 TV series, but the 1996 novel Damaged Goods, while fellow showrunner Steven Moffat penned the short story "Continuity Errors" for the 1996 anthology Decalog 3: Consequences. Other writers who first contributed to Doctor Who's expanded media before joining the main series include Mark Gatiss, Paul Cornell, and Robert Shearman.
Like how Mills and Gibbons' creations were brought to the screen, Cornell and Shearman would see their original stories get adapted for the show's revival. While both writers contributed to season 1, Shearman would adapt his 2003 Sixth Doctor audio drama "Jubilee" for the screen in "Dalek," where the Doctor's encounter with a sole surviving Dalek was adjusted to work in a post-Time War setting. Meanwhile, Cornell's tale of the Seventh Doctor becoming human and hiding on Earth shortly before the First World War in the novel Human Nature would be reimagined by the author into the two-part season 3 story "Human Nature/The Family of Blood."
"The Star Beast" was a wonderful celebration that allowed wider audiences to enjoy one of Doctor Who's most well-known expanded media tales. It was gratifying to see Davies properly credit both Gibbons and Mills for their contributions, and allow them the opportunity to see their monsters brought to life during filming. Though Tennant has been heavily involved with Doctor Who even between his Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor tenures, it is heartwarming to see the actor have the opportunity to have his own moments with them as a longtime fan, as well.'

~~Spoilers (S26 E6)~~
A season finale to be remembered (forgotten). Eh, here's what I thought anyway.
Let's start with the positives:
I honestly enjoy Rick. He's funny, entertaining it's nice to see Garrison's impact on a positive influence in his life. I'll touch more on him in the negatives, but for now he's a generally good character. Me yelling "DUMP HIS ASS!" at the TV is good, because it means I am genuinely invested in this relationship. Even though I think Rick is far too good for Garrison, I don't mind that they're together. It's the new Clybe, a garbage fire reality TV couple.
Funny. Hehehe. I very much enjoyed the comparisons to like, a party addict but it's just Trump and he's getting a bunch of people to rally with him. Especially the scene in the bathroom where it’s like two guys doin’ it but they’re just screaming about America.
Stan is a nerd, but in a fun way. Good for him. A little out of left field, but good for him.
I enjoyed the parallel to Randy and Garrison's relationship. Especially at the end, when they reveal that Randy needs Sharon like Garrison needs Rick. Even though it's not healthy or fun for Sharon and Rick to deal with their partners, they're sort of stuck babysitting man-children they feel responsible for. Deep, but sort of fun and not as serious as I'm making it sound.
Let's middle with the negatives (idk man):
I DO NOT LIKE RANDY! Why did they do that to him? Honestly my Quest For Rankings(tm) has made me a little sad because I miss the old Randy. Since when is he an asshole with little regard for Stan's goings on? Since when is he a party guy who only cares about tits and booze and really hates Sharon and Shelly? Since he started to suck, around the time of season 20 but really going in full swing around season 22. This Randy was especially insufferable, and I do not enjoy him and Stan having a dumpster fire relationship.
Style feel divorced now. Matt Stone's characters had zero lines in this episode, so idk what's up with that, but Stan got to pick one person to play with all spring break and he chose To(l)k(i)en? Not in my canon. Seriously, I feel like this section should be longer because I’m so mad. I don’t like the change. I don’t think To(l)k(i)en doesn’t have a place in the show, but it’s not as the new Kyle.
We don’t need another bad relationship. Idk, I like Rick, but I think that maybe instead of constantly creating identical, toxic relationships where characters who used* to be fun become angry and bitter just like the aging writing staff. Give us some Stendy resolution. Give us a nice Sharon and Randy (shandy? Handy?) episode. Make a Creek episode at all. I know I complement the parallels between Garrison and Randy’s relationships, and it works well for in individual episode but imo it’s a little bit too much for every couple to constantly hate each other now. Matt and Trey must be having trouble in paradise.
*note: this is very in character for Garrison, actually. But maybe just set all that aside for a while and give us a good old fashioned Stan and his current lover (Kyle, Wendy, To(l)k(i)en even) against a clear evil without an agenda. Throw in Cartman and Kenny too.
And We’ll end with some Nitpicking:
This is honestly our season finale? This is it? A pretty decent Garrison plot and a shitty Randy plot? No main four classic adventure? No check-in for Cartman and his regular house? No hard reset away from Stolkien and back towards Style or away from Tregridy? Okay. We’ll see how the Paramount specials pan-out then.
I’m so tired, man.
The house party was a weird thing that came out of no where. Like, Randy threw water on a stripper that he hired to harass his son and his “friend”, and then the pimp(?) (not really sure, but I don’t think that’s how strippers work) was like “I’ll shoot you” so Randy said “I have drugs in the barn” and then Andrew Tate(?) was like “Okay let’s get hammered then.” And then he invited everyone he knew to a random weed farm in rural Colorado and they had a party? K.
A final thought:
I don’t usually do this. But I feel like this over-analysis was a little meaner than I usually am with these. So I’m going to put this out there: I don’t mind this episode. (5/10). It’s not evil. It didn’t kill my first born. I think Garrison’s plot was solid and in line with his character. I am just tired of toxic relationships. I don’t think this is specifically on Garrison, in fact I think the problem is more with Stendy and Shandy or whatever. I don’t like that Randy sucks now, and I didn’t like his half-assed “boys should be boys” attitude. I believe he can be done correctly, but something different needs to be done.
Also I don’t hate To(l)k(i)en, I’m mostly just mad at what’s been done to the show, and his shift to Stan’s best friend is part of it. I don’t mind Stolkien either, I’m not opposed to it, I just personal don’t think that To(l)k(i)en is that interesting and I miss the before times.
This is a call to the South Park team! You can be good. You can do good. You can write good (well). I have faith in you. If I was the only one who saw these problems, then the issue would lie more with me, but I’m not and I don’t think it is. But I have Faith! DikinBaus was good! Cupid Ye was good! Deep Learning was good! You can do some Deep Learning yourself and process what about those episodes worked, and we can get some kickass specials this summer. I believe in you! <3

You know what I miss....
I really miss conversations consisting of equal parts pop culture quotes/references & sardonic mockery.
When I say 'pop culture quotes' I'm not referring to the almost universal but, for the most part, short lived quotes from the likes of The Fast Show, Harry Enfield, Peter Kay, Catherine Tate & whatever Sacha Baron Cohen's latest 'just short enough of offensive to broadcast' character of the month was... whose shows seemed to be simply 'catchphrase generators' meant to give the general public something to shout at each other ad infinitum for a few weeks until they were, inevitably, replaced by the next 'mildly-humorous-at-the time-but-quickly-becoming-annoying' one, two (or if the writers put the coke down long enough...) three word phrase to bounce around the workplace & keep the 'artist' in question relevant enough to beg another season.
No!
I'm talking about the quotes & references from tv shows, books & movies that have become so beloved & iconic, no matter how small the fandom may be, that in certain cases a single word can communicate your love of a particular property to any other fan that happens to be in the vicinity. Say "Shiny" in a packed room with the right inflection & watch the heads of every Browncoat there swivel in your direction. Say "Geronimo" or "Allons y" & you've just let every Whovian in attendance have a brief glimpse into your preference of Doctor.
What I'm talking about are book series from the likes of Douglas Adams & Terry Pratchett. Tv shows such as Scrubs, Firefly, Doctor Who, Animaniacs, Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Freakazoid & Tiny Toon Adventures. Renowned films ranging across genres from The Lost Boys & The Crow to Blazing Saddles & Ghostbusters. The Back to the Future Trilogy, Star Wars, Flash Gordon, Con Air, Rocky Horror, Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Every Monty Python movie... all the way to the more cult end of the spectrum such as Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse to barely known flicks like Airheads & Ski School.
Despite the different mediums & genres, the main thing that all of these have in common (as well as many others not mentioned) is that they're all so damn quotable. Incidentally, another commonality is that the majority were created & aired in the 1970's, 80's & 90's. Whether it was due to my age at the time I initially watched them or because the writing & performances were just better back then I don't know... but, with the possible exception of Game of Thrones & certain movies from the MCU,... there just don't seem to be as many movie/tv lines that embed themselves in the mind these days. (As I type this there's actually a Writer's strike going on... unlike the previous one back in the 90's(?)... I wonder if these guys actually deserve the raise tbh)
Take something with a fairly wide fanbase like, say, Red Dwarf. Any casual watcher who enjoyed it at the time will happily call you a Smeg Head if you happen to mention the show in passing... those of us whose fandom is a little more 'rabid' could tell you what Kryten says the apple is when Lister is teaching him to lie (in the episode 'Camille')... *answer at the end of the post for anyone interested... not that anyone but me will ever read this drivel.
The point is that even the most casual of fans can throw out quotes to the above at the drop of a hat...
To get back to my original point (it had to happen eventually)... the conversations I miss having were with friends who were far more than casual fans. These were friends with whom I could throw out an obscure line from an episode of Freakazoid & they'd instantly come back with the response... completely screen accurate... with the perfect timing & inflections. Someone could be getting increasingly frustrated about a printer spitting out endless blank sheets of paper & another friend would comment that "Mr Flibble's very cross"... instantly, the mood of the entire room would lift as we all giggled our collective tits off & the quotes bounced back & forth like tennis balls. I miss standing at the lift with my old next door neighbour (an absolute authority on all things WB animation) & waiting until one of us inevitably cracked & had to say "Elelator go down the hole" which would be instinctively followed by the other uttering "I push the button... my turn, not your turn, my turn... I push the button"!
There's a certain type of person that loves their fandoms (obsesses?) enough that these lines so easily drip into their subconscious & become an integral part of their lexicon, especially when surrounded by the like minded.
I used to spend a lot of time with these people. It was comfortable. Conversation was light & easy because we 'belonged'. Unfortunately, life happens... people drift, circumstances change, new situations create changes in social circles... we end up with different groups &, often, struggle to find that 'belonging' again. Not because these new groups aren't nice, kind, sociable & welcoming people... but simply because they're not 'our' people. We can always find common ground if we try hard enough but it's often not enough common ground to sustain any meaningful communication & certainly not the 'light, easy & comfortable' communication that makes you feel that you are part of the 'tribe'... warm, welcomed & wanted... we, inevitably, end up on the outskirts of these groups, unable to get past much more than a greeting & a minute or 2 of small talk before moving on. We find ourselves, over time, with fewer & fewer invitations to social gatherings &, possibly worse, we find ourselves not wanting to go anyway.
These days we have the wonderful dumpster fire that is the internet. We can find all of our fandoms & shared interests with a tap. We find 'our people' are everywhere... in all the remote corners of the world. The friends we've drifted from are right there on social media. But.... it's just not the same as being there, in the room, making casual, off-the-cuff, random references to a common love, in the complete & total knowledge that the person next to you just 'gets it'... & you... & I miss that!
The sardonic mockery that made up the remainder of these conversations is another story entirely... maybe one day.
*the apple in question was described as "The Bolivian Navy on maneuvers in the South Pacific"

Spring Break!
The three-week class session finished on Thursday, February 16th. I took my exam and then started packing for the break! I left on February 17th and returned on February 26th. The 11-week semester began after the intersession break.
I went to three places during the break, Prague, Edinburgh, and London.
Some highlights from Prague! The currency is called a Czech crown, and one crown equals 0.045 USD. When I paid 200 crowns for my food the first time, I was startled before I converted it. Also, everyone we encountered in restaurants and museums understood English which was nice because I know zero Czech.
Tumblr media
The Astronomical Clock! Every hour it has a little show where the skeleton rings the bell and the apostles rotate in the windows at the top.
Tumblr media
Some delicious food from a market that we stumbled across by the Lennon Wall.
Tumblr media
The Lennon wall is dedicated to John Lennon but is also a place for creative expression.
Tumblr media
Beautiful view of the city!
Tumblr media
We visited the Central Gallery which was a nice change from all the Renaissance art. It features Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, and Alfons Mucha.
Tumblr media
The architecture in Prague is so fun! Very gothic but also lots of pastel colors.
Tumblr media
The nightlife in Prague was different from anything I had experienced before. This club has a floor with robot bartenders.
Other highlights from Prague include the chimney cakes, the castle, Charle's Bridge, the Jewish Quarter, the torture museum, and glow-in-the-dark mini-golf!
Next up was Edinburgh! To be honest, it was nice to be in a country that spoke English. The city made me feel like I was back in medieval times. I loved how all the buildings look like castles or like they belong in Harry Potter. The weather fit the moody vibe of the city and was everything I hoped for! Another pro of Edinburgh is that there is a lot to do there for free, such as the National Museum, the Gallery, the Royal Botanical Gardens, and more!
Tumblr media
The Edinburgh Castle! It was right across the street from our hostel.
Tumblr media
The sunset at Arthur's Seat. This is the best view I have seen so far in my travels.
Tumblr media
The landscape in Scotland is spectacular! This is also Arthur's Seat.
Tumblr media
The Scottish National Gallery! We saw Scottish Art and many Impressionist works like Degas and Manet.
Tumblr media
My traditional dinner is called "stovies." A Scottish dish of tender beef, and root vegetables cooked in a rich gravy, with seasonal carrots and bread.
Other highlights include the Royal Botanical Garden, a Harry Potter walking tour, the National Museum of Scotland, Victoria Street, St. Gile’s Cathedral, the Writer’s Museum, and Calton Hill!
Last but not least, London!
Tumblr media
I had to take a basic photo with the iconic red telephone box.
Tumblr media
Emma and I toured the Westminster Abbey and saw the tombs of past kings and queens, Sir Isaac Newton, and Charles Darwin.
Tumblr media
The Royal Cavalry.
Tumblr media
The London skyline in the evening was magical.
Other highlights include a board game cafe, Big Ben, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Tate museum, the National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, Neal’s yard, and Chinatown. London did feel the most like the United States, which I was expecting, but it was still different in ways. Emma and I even ate lunch at Five Guys one day, and it was nice to have a taste of home.
For the trip, we flew on budget airlines like EasyJet and Ryanair. I lived out of my travel backpack for ten days. It was heavy but doable. I just had to re-wear clothes. We stayed in an Airbnb in Prague because it was so cheap, then hostels in Edinburgh and London.
I had such an amazing time during the break, but I will say that by the end of it, I was feeling tired. Ten days was the perfect amount of time. If the trip was any longer I don’t think I would have enjoyed myself as much.
I highly recommend going to all of these places!!
