══════════════════════
What had just been a moment of relative relaxation, quickly turned to one of panic.
One minute, you’d watched as Jean and Connie bickered over a bottle of wine in one of the MP’s cabinets, while Commander Hange spoke quietly with the Braus family before aiding Jean in cleaning off a ‘poisoned’ a young Marlian boy, Falco.
But the moment Niccolo lunged for the young Marlian girl, Gabi, shit hit the ceiling. The Braus’s adopted daughter lunged for the girl, screaming and crying out obscenities. You watched on helplessly as Niccolo took a swipe at Gabi, having only just learned of the girl’s murder back in Marley.
Sasha…poor Sasha. The memory of her death still haunted you every night you slept. To see her murderer, a young girl, standing before you uncharged and free of imprisonment…It hurt. But she was a child, you knew. A poor, brainwashed child.
Before you could even attempt to take action and aid the situation, the door behind you creaked open. Looking over your shoulder, you spotted Floch and his ‘followers’; a mix of MPs and what was left of the Scouting Regime soldiers.
By the time Hange and Jean returned to the dining room, you and Onyankopon were already being held at gunpoint.
“What’s wrong?” Hange asked in haste when she heard a muffled yelp from Onyankopon, but froze at the scene before them.
“Commander Hange,” Floch greeted coolly, ignoring your persistent glare. “I’m glad you’re here.”
Floch lowered the gun aimed at your head, and turned to Hange. “I imagine you know where Zeke’s at…We’ll have you take us there.”
You were only a second away from opening your mouth to retort his absurd statement, when Armin’s startled yelp from the adjacent room made your blood run cold.
“Ere-“
Eren…
Without giving it a second though, you raced to the side of the room towards the doors, paying no mind to the soldiers who held guns to your back. You had to go. You had to see him…
“Let her,” Floch’s airy tone caught you off guard, making you pause with your hand on the door handle.
“He’s expecting her presence too, you know.”
The guards lowered their guns from your back, and you took this moment to race through the double doors.
Behind you, you faintly registered a sinister chuckle coming from Floch, but you ignored him in your haste.
You slammed the door behind you quickly, and took a look around the nearly vacant room. And there he stood; just before you at the head of a round table in the very center of the room.
Armin and Mikasa sat with their hands placed palm down on the table cloth, eyes wide and shoulders stiff. Gabi was with them, tense and shaking in utter fear. You visually checked them over for any sign of injury, and when you found none and relaxed. But only slightly. You took your eyes off of your comrades, only for your eyes to suddenly met his.
Eren gave you no sign of emotion as he looked into your eyes from across the room. If anything, he looked bothered. His hair was slightly disheveled, and his clothes worn. But the look of indifference on his face only made his overall appearance look more menacing.
“Y/N, you’re here. Please, take a seat.” He spoke in a low tone while pulling out the chair he stood behind with gestured for you to take it. Taking a shaky breath, you decided to follow his ‘request’ and strode forward to accepted the seat.
“Eren-“ you began, but he cut you off.
“Hands on the table, and don’t remove them.” He shoved your chair into place, and swept his gaze across the four of you.
Despite his glare, you thought he looked…Weary. Sad, perhaps.
After a long pause, he broke the silence suffocating the room.
“As I said; I wanted to talk, with you guys.”
You remained silent and still in your seat, your fists clenching at the table cloth when you noticed the gash formed across his palm.
A warning to you all.
“Conflict isn’t necessary to solve Eldia’s problems.”
Behind you, a grandfather clock ticked against the wall for every silent second that passed his statement, setting you on edge.
“Eren, we’re the ones who wanted to talk.” Armin spoke up, his gaze sharp and focused. “What made you attack Marley all on your own? Did Zeke and Yelena really talk you into joining them?”
The question had been nagging at you for some time as well, but for now you remained silent.
“I am free,” Eren stated solemnly. “The things I do and choices I make are all decided by my own free will.”
“No…No, you are being manipulated!” Mikasa suddenly grit out, leaning over the table and standing up. “You wouldn’t have involved the lives of children and innocents, even if they were enemies!”
Eren kept silent, merely listening to her outburst. But before he could respond to Mikasa’s allegations, you found it within yourself to finally speak up as well.
“Eren, I know you care about us. More than anyone!”
You stood up from the table, removing your hands from the table to place them onto Eren’s broad shoulders.
“Don’t you?! The reason you saved Mikasa…Armin…Me…You love u-“
“I said to keep your hands on the table, now do it,” Eren cut you off with a harsh glare, switching gazes between you and Mikasa. Mikasa slumped back down into her chair in defeat, clutching at her scarf. But you remained standing, tightening your grip on his shoulders.
“Eren please, why won’t you stop this?!” You cried out.
“I said, sit.” Eren spat back through clenched teeth, forcibly removing your hands from his shoulders.
A pang of hurt shot through your heart, making your chest feel heavy. Furrowing you’re brow, you reluctantly sat and placed your hands back onto the table.
Once you were all sat and silent, Eren continued.
“I spoke with Zeke in Liberio; brother to brother. Zeke knows more about titans than even Marley as a whole.”
He paused, turning his attention to Armin.
“Armin, aren’t you still visiting Annie? Do you think that’s if your own free will?”
Armin froze, his eyes blown wide.
“If memories are what shape people, a part of you is Bertholdt now. Within you is an enemy with feelings for another enemy. Armin, Bertholdt has gotten into your head.”
Armin sat in shocked silence, staring blankly back at Eren. You took this moment to make a decision.
For better or for worse, you had to try…
“Then what does throat make me, Eren?”
Eren turned to look at you, raising a brow. He seemed to not have expected you to speak up again so soon, if at all. But curiosity got the better of him, and he gave you room to speak. So you continued.
“You dare accuse Armin for being lost to memories of another, for falling for another that. is the enemy. So what does that make me, huh? Am I now an enemy, too?” You spoke quickly, feeling a need to get it all out.
After all these years…
“What are you talking about, Y/N?” He drawled out. “You have no part in this conversation. You are Eldian and not a shifter. You know what I’m saying doesn’t apply to you.”
“Oh, but doesn’t it? Don’t my feelings for you count for anything? You cant call Armin an enemy without accusing me as well!” You cried out, taking a stand once more.
Eren’s eyes widened; it seemed he wasn’t expecting this. “Y/N…I-“
Mikasa cut him off this time with a hell, not minding his sudden glare on her for interrupting.
“Eren, what could you possibly be sayin-“
“The Ackermans, too.” Eren scoffed, now standing as well beside you. “The Ackermans were intentionally designed to protect Eldia’s king. Back then, when faced with life and death you heeded my order; Fight.”
“No…Protecting you was not a mistake…” Mikasa whispered, fear in her shaky eyes.
“It was because of you I became strong, Eren!”
“No, Mikasa. Your family was made to forget who they are and love only to protect. You are slaves.” Eren scowled, his eyes narrowed dangerously. Their conflict gave you a headache, but you knew better than to speak up just yet.
“Eren, enough!” Armin suddenly called out, taking a stand with the rest of you.
“Do you know what I hate more than anyone?Any of you?” Eren continued on, ignoring his friend. “Those who are not free. They’re just like livestock.”
“Eren!” you yelled, filled with a sudden rage. Rage fueled by grief.
This wasn’t the boy you’d grown up with. Fought beside. Come to love so deeply…
Eren snapped his gaze to you, his glare deepening. “Just seeing you has always pissed me off so much, Y/N. And now I finally understand why; I can’t stand the sight of a slave who obeys orders without question.”
His cold statement made you gasp and stumble back a step. Hurt flooded through you, but you fought off your tears for now.
“You don’t mean that…”
“Ever since we were little…I’ve hated you.”
Everything around you became white noise as you stared on in horrified silence, your mouth agape with all the words you wished to say. And yet nothing came of it.
Faintly you registered Armin leaping across the table towards Eren, fists raised and teeth clenched. Words were exchanged, but you heard none of them. Like Gabi, you remained frozen in your spot.
Mikasa lunged forward to stop Armin, only to freeze in fear as she recognized what Ered had said about the Ackermans might just be true. Armin was pinned to the table by Eren’s strong grip, shouting over his shoulder to the man above him.
The moment Eren threw Armin across the room, you finally snapped and regained your ability to speak.
“Eren!” you screamed.
Immediately Eren held still, his back to you but his head turned to silently acknowledge your voice.
“Stop this! What have you done?” You shouted. Your voice shook as well as your hands with every word you uttered, but you knew you had to keep going. Or else you’d never get another chance.
Deep down, you knew this is how it had to be.
“You belittle Mikasa…manhandle Armin…hate me…And for what? What is it you truly want from us?”
Eren turned to face you, his emotions hidden behind his cold facade. But he let you speak. Let you say the things you both knew, deep down, you had both longed to say for years.
“You can hate me all you want. You can hate all of us, all you want. But don’t you dare for a moment accuse us of anything but loyalty. We love you, Eren. I love you. You know that, I know you do!” You cried out in earnest, tears finally escaping your eyes no matter how hard you fought them.
“I’ve always loved you. I’ve tried, time and time again, to show you this. And for everything I’ve ever done…How could you?”
With that final whisper, you turned your back to him and crossed your arms around your sides. Looking for any form of comfort.
“Y/N…You know I-“ Eren started to speak, his tone much softer now. Though you couldn’t see it, he was fighting tears himself. But he refused to let anyone notice how he wiped them away.
“No. Just, fucking don’t.” You stated softly. “Figure out this mess with the war. Do what you must. But please…Please understand us…”
Just then, a couple MP’s burst through the door, demanding to know what the noise was about.
“I’m fine,” Eren reassured them, his voice hollow. “Go back to Floch. I’ll join up soon.”
Once they hesitantly left, you finally turned in your heel and gave Eren one last pleading look.
“Figure this out, Eren. Figure this out for us.”
With that you turned to leave the room. To leave your companions and to leave your love. But just before you twisted the door handle to rejoin Commander Hange and the others, you looked over your shoulder and made direct eye contact with Eren.
“And just know…Despite everything that happened in the past… Despite what happened here in this room…Just know I still love you. I’m scared that I always will.”
With that you left, not seeing the way Eren’s emotions finally pushed through his facade and showed on his face. The way he reached out his hand to stop you leaving, despite the physical distance between the two of you.
You never would know, just as he would never forget the way what was left of his heart shattered in his chest that day.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
do you think levi would grow his hair out post-war?
idk mahn but the vision of him with a short wolf-ish is really getting to me.
i feel like maybe he’d let it grow accidentally. with the healing process for his knee and the rest of his wounds i feel like he wouldn’t really care about his hair, and you’re totally in for it.
it’s a huge change. for years, you’re used to levi’s neat hair and infamous undercut, and you were 100% into it. but now as he finally lets you cut his hair for him instead of doing it himself, you kinda slowly fix it in a wolf cut and let it grow gradually.
you’d come up with excuses every time he asks you to cut his hair.
“i have so much to do around the house today, my love. maybe tomorrow?”
“oh, i’m on my period today. i can barely stand up.”
“oh! i forgot i have to go get stuff from the market! i’ll be meeting gabi and falco, i can’t be late, can i?”
once he gets frustrated with you, the raven silk was already down to his nape. it shaped his face beautifully, and once you caught him with a pair of scissors in the bathroom, your soul left your body.
“WAIT!” you dash to him, holding down the armed left hand. “you’re not left handed! you wanna ruin your hair??”
“shut up,” he rolls his eyes at you. “you’ve been putting me off for months. look how long it’s gotten!” he gestures with a hand to the mirror in front of you two. “i look hideous.”
you slip the scissors from his hands, and levi catches the little sly smile that slips on your face as you squeeze yourself between his body and the sink.
you watch the realization fall on his face while your hands slip in his hair.
“is this what i get for letting my guard down around you?”
“you look beautiful,” you tell him, love struck as you are, never missing the pink dust that rushes to his cheeks “everyone compliments you for it. you still wanna cut it off again?”
“i don’t give a shit about anyone else.” he grumbles and looks down between you both, leaning on his cane. “i don’t look representable.”
“you don’t have to look representable,” your tone lowers in sincerity. a thumb grazes the scar on the right side of his face. “you’re not a captain anymore, my love. you’re free to do whatever your heart pleases.”
he looks up at you, features blank, but you know well how your words are tossing and turning in his brain.
“besides,” your smile returns back to your face, and you pull him a little closer. “you look extremely hot.” a hand trails down to the hem of his shirt, your eyes following the movement, then you return your gaze back up to him. “like a hot dad.”
his eyebrows shoot up, playfulness making an appearance on the previous stoic features. “like a hot dad?”
“mmhm,” you affirm with a mock-nonchalant nod, and you slip away from him jjjuuust when he was about to pull you in. you look at him over your shoulder, mischief pure in your gaze. “i’ll go check on dinner for the guests coming tonight. feel free to join.”
only except that ten minutes later, the kitchen is completely empty and you two didn’t manage to make it past the living room. he was seated on the sofa, head throw back with his fucking hair framing his delicious expression like that, you swear you could cum untouched in your position between his legs as you get to work.
“like a hot dad, huh?” he mumbles, all breathless and shit once you were seated in his lap, his length stretching you perfectly. a hand reaches up to wipe away the remaining of his previous climax on the corner of your lips. you throw your head in the crook of his neck, the pleasure of your hips rolling skillfully against his hitting you bad. “you could’ve just asked, lovely. wanna make me a daddy?”
you manage a shaky nod when he begins to meet your hips halfway.
a hand trails up from your waist to garb your neck, squeezing deliciously as he pulls you away from his neck to take a good look at you. “words, my love.”
“yes,” you nod, eyes closed in bliss. one of your hands grab the wrist of the hand around your neck. “wan’ make y-you a…hhah… daddy.”
“fffuuck…” he groans out when you squeeze around him, letting himself gather enough strength before he throws you off of him and onto the sofa. when your thighs are squeezed together at the painful loss of contact, a palm falls on one of them, leaving a flushed mark in its wake.
“open wide, baby.” he grabs a hold of his cock while he holds the back of your opening thigh to keep the pair apart. the years upon years in the survey corps leave you as flexible as you can be, so when he presses your thigh back, your joints bend easily at his will. pumping himself a few times as he gazes at your glistening folds, another groan breaks out from deep in his chest.
“god, look at you.” he rolls his hips in, and you feel him slip through so pleasurably that you can’t hold back the loud whimper that escapes you.
because damn, how could you not from this view? this is a face of a determined, pussy-drunk man. sweat broke on his forehead, a few strands sticking to the skin while the rest of his hair falls around his face perfectly. you see a ting of pain on his features, and you scatter to try to change your position for a more comfortable one for him, but he is quickly pushing you back down to the couch, a hand falling to your lower abdomen.
the pressure he puts there makes you forget your own name, and it shows on the way your body shivers with bliss. his thrusts increase in velocity, the maddening roll of his hips against yours throwing you in a whole other dimension.
a hand reaches out to grab yours, and through the dizzying pleasure, you realize that levi is pressing your own hand to your abdomen underneath his.
“look how deep inside am i,” he grumbles, leaning down to press a kiss on your bouncing tits. you feel his length stroke in and out of you the more levi puts pressure on your hand. “taking me so well. always so well, baby.”
he takes control of your hand once more, feeling you squeeze familiarly around him, and he pushes your fingers through his hair. you yank on the strands immediately, pulling out a fucking growl out of the man as he leans down until your chests were touching, putting a bit of his body weight on you for support.
you latch onto him like a koala, the burn of your core muscles stretching as he pushes you in a mating press mixes well with your pleasure-high brain. levi kisses, licks, bites down on your neck to leave marks you’ll have trouble hiding later, but you don’t give a shit. you arch your neck more, letting out a long moan when he nips at a certain spot, the bliss turning you mad.
levi is breathless. his puffs of air fan your face when he brings his face on top of yours. a whimper escapes past his lips, his features twisted with pleasure uncontrollably, and you drown in the sounds he makes.
“wann’ make you a mommy too,” he mumbles, open lips landing on the corner of your lips. “wanna…hhah… fill you up. over,” he pauses, delivering an especially harsh thrust that you feel at your cervix. “and over again.”
“levi, i’m so—,”
your body begins to curl into him, eyes closing uncontrollably, and the poor man barely has any chance to ready himself for the way you tighten impossibly around him as you give him your first climax.
your body shivers and quivers, shaking as he overstimulates you chasing after his own pleasure. he leans back up, hands harshly grabbing your lips as he manages to pull you even deeper, and you tightness milk him.
it isn’t the first time he cums inside you, but this one sure hits different. after a few more thrusts that manage to abuse your cervix, levi stills stiffly with a strong groan, and you feel his warmth coat your walls .
he gives you a few more deep strokes as he leans down to kiss you deeply, making sure he fucks all his load deep enough.
his hips still once more, but you keep devouring his lips. weak moans are erupted from both of you as you two calm down gradually, before levi throws sway your attempts of calming down your still-raging arousal when he pulls away, leans up, and slowly pulls out of you.
and he watches the mixture of both your orgasams begin to pool out of you, and you watch as he takes two fingers to push everything back in. you shamelessly roll your hips against bis digits once more.
he looks up at you, fingers still engulfed, snd a smirk takes over his handsome features.
“one more time for good measures?”

It’s wipWednesday on Twitter and although I said no more sneak peeks, I just HAVE to put this up here. I haven’t touched this in a few days now but here’s more of the wedding chapter 🥰
Hange looked to the side upon hearing Onyankopon, seeing Falco approaching them. The young man was dressed in incredibly smart formal clothes; a simple black suit and he smiled with warmth and pride as he arrived at the end of the aisle. Clutched in his hands was a small white box, and when he stood before Onyankopon, Falco carefully opened it to reveal a pair of rings.
Upon gentle urging, Levi carefully grasped the ring intended for Hange and pulled it from the box; it was a simple band made of platinum that shone like a mirror as it caught the light. Levi gave a small sigh before gently holding Hange’s hand, clutching the ring as he gazed lovingly into their eyes.
“Hange, this ring is a representation of my love for you; I am yours, now and forever for the rest of eternity. It is the gift that lasts forever just as the ring itself has no end. Know that I am always going to be there beside you. I love you, always.”
Levi’s voice was gentle and filled with nothing but pure love and warmth which wasn’t lost on Hange. The platinum band effortlessly slid onto their finger, and they couldn’t help but admire the way that the sun reflected off the highly polished surface. It was simple, but that had been exactly what they and Levi had wanted.
“And now your ring to Levi, Hange.”
Hange took in a deep breath, hoping that it at least made them give off some kind of sense of courage, and proceeded to take the second silvery-coloured band from the box where it lay. They held it up as Levi offered his hand to them, and they almost felt giddy with excitement as they prepared themself.
“Levi, I give you this ring on this beautiful summer evening as a token of my undying love and appreciation for you and everything that you have ever done for me. It is my way of showing you just how much I love you; to show you that I am absolutely delighted to be the person who has the honour of calling you their husband from this moment until forever.
“May it serve as a reminder that you are always going to be in my heart, and that you are mine to cherish forever until the end of time for not even death itself shall part us.”
The ring slid onto Levi’s finger with ease, and Hange couldn’t help but gaze into their lover’s eyes. This was it, the moment for which they had been eagerly waiting for such a long time. Hange could only just hold back the excitement they felt, heart racing in their chest as Falco retreated to his space beside Gabi.
Onyankopon gave a smile as he looked at his two closest friends stood before him, their hands now adorned with the wedding bands that they had each chosen. Seeing their relationship blooming throughout the five years that he had known them had been incredible to witness, and he couldn’t help but admire the pure adoration that they had for each other.
“Levi and Hange, you have each expressed your unwavering love for each other in the most beautiful way through the commitment and promises you have just made to each other. You have kissed many a thousand times, maybe even more. But today brings the beginning of a new journey where you are not simply just best friends and partners, rather now becoming husband and wife. And, with this today, this next kiss is a promise with which you seal your marriage.”
Hange’s lips were soft, almost like silk against Levi’s own as they leaned in toward each other. His fingers teased the strands of their hair as he breathed in the slightly earthy scent of their skin. What he wouldn’t give to stay in this moment for the rest of his life, and time itself felt like it stood still as he and his now-spouse parted. Hange gazed at him with nothing but love, and it felt like a pleasant warmth settled in across his chest.

A desire that was not meant to be.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Reiner Braun x F!Reader, Slight Jean Kirstein x F! Reader
Plot: You had put off your meeting due to the conflict with Marley but due to circumstances everything ends up erupting all at once.
Warning(s): cursing, yelling, slight violence
A/n: there might be a few mistakes since it's not fully proofread.
It was a quiet night to say the least, there were no titans in sight. The only sound you could hear were beetles and some animals roaming around at night.
A campfire inside the forest would have seem like a good choice to gather with some friends.
Friends.
Nowadays the people you had known for years were disappearing little by little. You did not know who to trust now. Anyone could have ill intentions that might get you tracked and dragged back to Paradis by the jaegerists.
Your lives were on the line and in return you'd get nothing.
The current group that was at each other's throats years ago were now sitting together sharing a meal.
It was a sight you'd never thought you would see again.
Well see Reiner again.
After parting that day during the invasion all you thought was about seeing the love your life. Waiting to kiss him again one day, but of course it turned out differently.
Now having him front of you brought mixed feelings and no reassurance that your love was as strong as it used to be.
Reiner kept glancing your way from time to time.
There were some instances that you'd both look at each other and let your gaze rest until one of you looked away.
His stare did awaken some of those feelings you'd used to get whenever he was around. But with a current situation it was difficult to tell if it was wrong to still feel something for him.
"Reiner Braun," Yelena said bringing your catching your attention. "You're the one who reached Shiganshina's inner gate. Do you know how many Eldians we're devoured by pure titans because of that?"
Reiner looked away feeling the guilt rushing back to him as he recalled the events.
You could tell how regretful he was. The look on his face said it all.
Yelena looked at Annie, "Annie Leonheart. I heard you killed a few more than survey core members on your time. And that's before we get into all innocents you trampled on and to fight your way out of Stohes."
"But let's not forget the brave liberators of Paradis." She added, "There's Armin the level headed one, who seems far too kind to cause that blood bath he did at Marley. How high do you think you can stack those corpses. And don't forget the civilians there were plenty."
Armin looked down at his lap closing his eyes.
"Not to sell the rest of you too short." She continued, making you feel annoyed by her voice already. "Everyone gave a heroic performance in Liberio. Jean most of all, Little Falco here threw himself in front of you to protect the cart but you didn't let that stop you from firing your thunder spear did you?"
You could feel the air change as her words continued on. Pouring venom into the open and getting everyone riled up to cause a scene. You knew her game play very well. She did not care about saving people. Elena never cared about anyone but herself in this whole situation. She easily bent down to Eren to stay in power even if that meant killing her own friend in return.
"You'd thought you all made it out clean until Gabi gunned down Sasha. What a sweetheart that girl was, even I couldn't help but feel sad for her." She said, "And to you she was family, you went through training together, went through hell together. Losing her must have been more painful than I can imagine.*
You rolled your eyes at her fake sympathy.
"This stew is pretty good Hange." Jean spoke smiling slightly at her, "Got enough for seconds?"
"Oh we've got more than enough so don't be shy." Hange grabbed his bowl and began to pour more stew.
Jean leaned back holding the bottle of liquor in one hand while keeping the other flat on the ground.
"I wanna thank you for this Yelena." He said, "You're baiting us out to air our grudges so we can get it out of our systems and get our heads on straight. Right? You'd have someone to vent to yourself if you hadn't blown out all you friends brains out to keep your fantasy alive."
He took another sip before continuing, "Now all you have a head full of cutting remarks and death wish. So this is actually pretty selfless of you."
"What can you expect?" You spoke leaning back against the large tree trunk. "She's all about getting what she wants but when her life is in danger that's all she actually cares about."
You looked at her as she avoided eye contact, "Isn't that right? You're all talk about everyone else's mistakes but you keep yourself shut on your own. I really hope that if you make it this far someone doesn't come along and take you out for not wanting to deal with your crap anymore."
"Now now we need to all be on the same page, (name)." Hange said, "Let's all take a break yeah?"
A sigh escaped from your lips, "How can I when people like her exist? She's a selfish prick."
Yelena lips started to curve up into a smile but stopped herself.
"Right... almost forgot." She said, "I didn't mention another name, he was already dead by the time we met. But I remember you said you were good friends. What was it, Mar―co."
Both your and Jean's eyes widened hearing his name.
Everyone's eyes were now on Yelena as well.
"As I recall you told me Annie had something to do with his death didn't you? Did you ever ask her for details?" Jean gasped in surprise. "I bet she'll tell you."
You held your breath waiting to hear an answer, an explanation as to why your close friend had to face death that day.
"I stole his odm gear and left him where titans could get to him." Annie admitted avoiding eye contact, "Marco got eaten because of me―"
Was surprised you was how quickly Reiner spoke.
"Annie was only following orders that I was giving her."
Hate started to fall deep in the pit of your stomach. Jean noticed your change in behavior, he placed his hand on top of yours giving it a gentle squeeze.
Of course it did not go unnoticed by Reiner, seeing how close you two were.
"During the fight in Trost, Marco over heard me and Bertholdt discussing something secret. If we let him go he could have exposed us and we decided we had to silence him." He continued but his explanation only angered you more. "I figured nobody would think twice about a scout getting eaten by a Titan. So I tackled him under a roof and I pinned him down and ordered Annie to strip him off his ODM gear. Then we just left him there... Marco was stranded on that rooftop without a way and a Titan got to him."
Silence rested upon the group, no one could grasp what Reiner had admitted. It was devasting seeing how someone could be so selfish about leaving another human being stranded to die.
"So... did Marco say anything before he was killed?" Jean asked.
"He asked why I wasn't willing to talk to him." Reiner answered.
"I think that question applies to everyone, why we haven't been willing to talk. We all just started fighting and assumed it had to be to the death."
"But we can still change that," Hange added. "We were all ready to kill each other. And now here we are talking it's something right? To think we would all be sitting around a campfire, sharing a meal with people we once called enemies."
"I stood and watched as a Titan devoured Marco and then a switch flipped and I couldn't figure out why it was happening."
Hange gasped.
"I just snapped flew into a rage, hell-bent on avenging Marco. I cut down the titan myself―"
"We get it Reiner." Jean interrupted him, "You're saying the guilt of carrying out the mission screwed with your head."
"Don't forgive me... I'm truly worthless."
"I said we get it." He spoke louder as his voice trembled with rage.
"I'm sorry."
It was enough to make you and Jean explode. Tears started to fall down your cheeks as you tried to understand why he was covering for her. Why he decided to go along with those orders.
Jean leaped from his place and threw a punch at him, throwing Reiner back and blood to come out of mouth. In a moment Jean was on top of him without a thought, it was all starting to become too much for you.
As they were killing each other you tried to suppress the sobs that wanted to escape. Armin walked over to you, rubbing your back and trying to calm you down.
"Try to breathe, okay?" Armin softly spoke, "Let's try and get your breathing back to normal."
You weakly nodded but it was impossible seeing how Jean was trying to kill the person who you thought was the love of your life.
Armin then left your side as he and Connie tried to get Jean off of Reiner
You stood up along with Hange and Mikasa to see what was going on.
Gabi then stepped in, but she was hurt in the process by Jean's strong hit. Falco kneeled down beside her worried about her health.
"I'm sorry... we came here," She spoke in pain. "To kill everyone in Paradis... we wanted to stage a massacre not prisoners. We thought the world might forgive us the sins of the Eldian Empire. If we wiped you out, they'd recognize us as good Eldians you see and save them from the Eldian devil's. And now my mom and dad and everyone back in Liberio."
"I'm sorry..." Gabbie got her knees trying to beg for forgiveness. "I understand I have no right to ask anything of you but we can't save our families without your help. So please... please don't let out homes get trampled. I'm beging you."
Falco held Gabbie up, looking everyone. "Help us please, we have to stop the rumbling together."
"We're begging you." She said.
We're begging you." He said.
"Let go." Jean said.
Both Connie and Armin let him go and he walked away.
"Jean." You said jogging behind him.
He stopped, turning to look at you, "I'm sorry― right now I need some space."
"I understand." You mumbled.
Jean gave you a small smile and headed into the woods.
Reiner slowly sat up, his eyes landing on you. They were filled with regret and sorrow.
You looked at him, feeling sorry for him for the way that Jean attacked him but not for what he had done.
Slowly you walked up to Reiner, Mikasa stood beside you as Armin and Connie stood aside.
"I used to think we'd see each other again," you said. "I wished for days upon days to see you... to maybe rekindle what we had."
"(name) I'm so sorry―"
"Don't apologize." You said, "I know for hell that you weren't the one who ordered to kill Marco. Were you?"
"I did I swear I didn't mean―"
"Stop lying!" You exclaimed as tears formed in your eyes. "You're covering for Annie, Reiner. She is the one who decided to kill Marco off not you."
Annie stood up, "I shouldn't have done what I did (name). I know I can't take back what I did―"
"No you can't." You clenched your jaw, "You're the reason Marco is dead! My friend died because of your selfish pathetic reasons. Do you realize how it felt to tell his parents how he died?!"
She looked down as her vision started get blurry.
"You don't get to feel sorry for the way you treated him." Sniffling you continued, "Marco was an innocent person who wanted to get to the ranks and serve the king just like you did. He was the kindest person who did not turn away anyone who needed help. He even helped you for crying out loud and this― this is how you repaid him?!"
"(name) we know what we both did was wrong but you shouldn't take it all out on her―"
"You both disgust me."
Reiner and Annie both stayed quiet.
"To think that I fell in love with you..." you voice cracked, "I―I wanted to spend the rest of my life next to you after this cruel world was over. But I was s fool."
"No that's not true!" Reiner stood up looking at you with broken eyes. "It was never your fault and I meant everything I told you... everything I felt about you was real (name). You have to believe me."
"How can I, huh?" You took a step forward, looking at him eye to eye. "I can only remember the person you were with me... and every time I look at you it's someone else I'm seeing."
"I'm the same person as I was back then." He desperately spoke, "I―I haven't changed! I still love you with all my heart (name)."
"I can't believe you..."
"(name) please," he begged holding both your upper arms in his hands. "I love you (name), I can't loose you... I―I don't want to loose you."
"Let me go, Reiner..." You quietly said as you cried.
"Please don't walk away from us―"
"Reiner."
"(Name) please..." He rested his forehead against yours trying to remember your warmth, your touch that he had craved to feel all these years.
"R―Reiner... please let me go." You let the tears fall, seeing them land on his arms.
"I love you so much..."
"Reiner let her go." Armin spoke.
"I'm not going to let the person I love walk away from me."
"Reiner... you already messed up." Connie said, "Let her go and let this end while she's giving you the chance to do so."
"Reiner, please listen... I don't want you to get hurt." Gabbie pleaded as she pulled on his shirt.
Tears were already rolling down his cheeks as he pulled himself away from you.
You were already missing his warmth. But you knew you couldn't forgive him, not for the way he acted.
"(name) don't blame him for my actions... he doesn't deserve the hate I do." Annie looked at you. "Reiner cares about you―"
"Then you should have thought about that before you did what you did." You said full of hatred, "If it was for me I wouldn't dare help you rescue your father for the crap that you pulled. You killed innocent people, for no reason! I don't even begin to understand why you should be alive instead of my family."
"I know..."
"But I'm not heartless," you explained wiping away your tears. "I wished that I was but unfortunately I'm not. There's innocent people on both sides that shouldn't suffer because of us. They deserve to live no matter what."
"I knew you'd end up doing the right thing." Yelena spoke, "It's what you do."
"Shut up, Yelena." You glared at her, "If it weren't for needing you, I would have left your ass behind to rot in hell. You don't deserve to be here. You're the least person to suggest anything with the ill intentions you have."
"All I did was help like Jean had said." She in innocently said.
"Oh please deep down you enjoy seeing this going down. You don't care about who gets in a fight, all you want is to tear people apart. That's your game, it's what you enjoy because you have nothing else in your pathetic life."
Looking at them one by one you saw what they all all had in common.
"Once we're done with this... I don't want to ever see your faces again." You said looking specifically at Yelena, Annie and Reiner.
You walked away from the group feeling like the air was being sucked out of you. It was getting heavier by the minute as you walked further into the forest.
Once you managed to get far enough away from them you let it all out. Sob after sob escaped from the heaviness of your chest, every emotion that was pent up was coming out.
All you could feel was a giant hole within you.
You had already lost your friends in the past, you'd thought that Reiner would be the one constant person in your life. But you were wrong and it hurt you so much seeing him for what he truly was.
Slowly you slid down against a tree with tightly closed eyes as the feeling of emptiness surrounded you. You wanted to run back into his arms, to have you hold you. Console you, in hopes of that pain going away.
But all you could do was hold yourself and try to get through the pain alone.
A pair of arms wrapped themselves around you, smelling the all too familiar scent.
"I'm sorry for leaving you alone to deal with him." Jean said pulling you into his chest.
"I―It's alright... you needed time." You mumbled into his chest.
"What a hell of a life we live huh?" He asked. "I wonder if Marco is waiting to scold us for the way we are."
"I miss him."
"I miss him too but we can't let him down... as much as we're in pain right now Marco wouldn't want us to do this to ourselves."
"I'm sure he would understand," you smiled weakly.
He chuckled lightly, "Knowing him he would drag us out of bed no matter how bad it would be."
"Yeah..."
"You deserve better... Reiner was privileged to have known you." He rubbed your back gently. "You're a badass who will get back on her feet I just know you will."
Your grip on him tighten.
Reiner was out of your life.
He chose what he wanted and now you had to do the same.
That's all you could do.

Hello!
Here’s my fic for Day D-8 of @levi-supreme Rei’s event for Levi’s birthday.
TW. Pure fluff, post war.
WC ~1k
“Got you, got you, got you.” You strain every inch of muscle to not drop him into the tub. Your arms are hooked under his armpits from behind as you lower him into the warm lavender-infused water. “That’s it. Put your weight on the good leg. Slow and easy.”
His hands tighten at the rim, and he groans. “Got it from here.”
“You sure?” You warily ask, still holding him.
“Yeah.”
You take a deep breath and slip off your arms from him, and Levi uses all his remaining strengt to sprauchle himself into the tub, his knuckles tense and white. And finally, you let out sigh of relief and smile; little by little, he’s recovering. It’s been about eight months since war ended, since you and Levi hung the green cloaks, moved to Marley after ten years of service and got the respite you deserved. Levi has already undergone three surgeries and has been convalescing to recover the mobility of his leg , begrudgingly goes to rehab, growling and whining that it’s a waste of time. But you’re there to push him, to hug him, encourage him; without you, he’d be a lost man.
“So, what do you want to do today, birthday boy?” You scoop water on your hand and soak his shoulders, back and chest, heedful with his most recent scars. “I know you don’t like to celebrate, but it’s special this time.”
“My first birthday after the war you mean.” He breathes.
“Yeah.” You hand him the foamy sponge and lavish his shoulders with kisses. “It could be just you and I, or we could have Gabi, Falco and Oni joining us too.” You bring your lips to the spot beneath his ear and whisper, “Whatever you want.”
“I don’t know,” he blows a raspberry and slips a hand over his shoulder, threading it with yours as you tuck your chin over the left one, and caress the stumps of his fingers. “You have to at least blow the candles.” You kiss him on the temple. “I love you Levi,” you murmured. “I love you, I love you, I love you. Thank you for keeping your promise.” Your eyes sting, the tears blend with the trickles of water falling from his hair and running down his skin. Levi closes his eyes, feeling your ragged breathing brushing against his cheek. He should’ve killed Zeke instead of waiting for orders. He’d been a fool, naive, but that promise, he clung to it, the last thread of hope from where he was hanging. “I love you too, he says.
There’s a silence stretching over as your sobs dwindle, and a meek smile curves his lips. You started again when the stones were pounding at your door, wrecking everything. You watched your dreams burn and reborn. With the stones you built your little empire.
Everything is alright now.
He and you; you and him, free.
“Alright.” He twiddles with your fingers. “Let’s go to Damiano’s this evening. The birthday boy gets to choose the cake, right?”
“Of course!”
“Black Forest.”
“Great choice.” You wipe off your tears and reel back to grab the bottle from the floor. “There’s a parade too.” You squirt a spritz of sandalwood scented shampoo on your palm and lather his hair, massaging his scalp gingerly.
“A parade?”
“Yup. Don’t know exactly why it’s a holiday today, but kids get presents and there’s a festival and parades too.”
“So I get two presents.”
“You’re not a child.”
“But you treat me like one.”
“Close your eyes,” you say and ladle water with a jug, rinsing off the foam from his hair. You set it down and put your hands on the curve of his shoulders.
“I won’t treat you like one then.”
“No.” He blushes and holds your wrists, dragging them over his chest. Due to the inactivity, his muscle mass has whittled; his skin doesn’t feel as taut as it used to. Levi allows the days to scurry slow, reading, brewing tea, learning, and even though he’s not fond of the wheelchair, he enjoys the strolls with you. He likes museums, galleries and expositions; despite his belying stolidness, he’s amazed too by the boundless marvels the world has yet to offer.
A chuckle bubbles from you and you kiss him on the nape. “Men are big babies.”
He rolls his eyes, and growls. “Brat.”
“Me?” You pinch his cheek. “You’re the one acting like a brat.” You bring the stool to the side, carefully take his face in your hands and kiss him lightly on the lips, the subtle brush of a feather. “Happy birthday, Levi.” You mutter, tracing a finger along one of his scars, raised tissue, healed, but still pale pink. Your mouth is parted over his, and he presses his forehead on yours.
“Thank you.” He spews and kisses you back, tucking a lock of hair behind your ear. “Marry me,” his warm breath fans over your lips. He looks away, then meet your eyes again. His are trembling, the black has blurred the gray. “Marry me.” He says again, his voice doesn’t swerve down this time.
Your eyes open wide, your bottom lip quivers. “Levi…” He pulls apart and you stare at each other for a while; you see his beautiful face beyond the scars, two-way adoration bouncing back and forth. His wet skin, sheen like polished Carrara against which contrast his ebony eyebrows and the weak blush on his face.
A drop of water falls from his eyelash, tracing the curve of his cheek, and you brush it away with your thumb. A smile tilts on your face. You giggle and throw a light blow on his arm. “That was a good one.”
“I’m not joking.”
Your smile falters.
“But that’s not even a question.”
“I can’t risk you saying no.”
“So, you demand.” You raise an eyebrow, and he smirks. He kisses you, and you pull apart, giggling, and he blindly chases you until he catches you again.
“Take off your clothes and get in here.”
“But—“
“It’s my birthday.” He nose bumps you and chuckles.
You splash water on his face, pouting and groan to your feet. From the little window you can see the saplings of sunlight opening their way through the mantle of clouds, a beautiful day for a special day. you shuck your clothes, and the morning chill bites your skin with its sharp fangs. You shiver, wrapping your arms around yourself, and get into the tub, nestling on the space Levi made for you. “This is good.” You sigh and curl against him, resting your head on his shoulder, sliding an arm behind him. “Happy?” You find his hand under the water, bring it to your mouth and kiss him lightly on the knuckles.
“Very.” He smiles and draws a finger over the line of your Cupid’s arc. “You’re beautiful.” He cocks his head by a fraction and winds his arms around your frame. “I’d rather stay here all day.” He nuzzles his cheek on your head, imbibing the hazy vanilla notes from your hair.
“Can we still go to Damiano’s?” You whine, and take out the puppy eyes from your arsenal. They have the best pizza fruits de mer in the continent. “Please?”
“Fine.” He huffs and tilts your face toward him to kiss you again.
“What else do you want for today? I really want to make this day special.” You meet his drowsy eyes after breaking the kiss.
Levi simply shrugs, he already got everything. “I love you. I love you, I love you.” He chants zealously. “You, it’s all I ever wanted.”

as beautiful as ever

Pairing: Reiner Braun x fem!reader
Summary: With Hange’s plan to team up with a group of Marleyans, y/n is forced to meet up with an old friend- Reiner Braun- who for some reason, just won’t stop staring at her.
Warnings: season 4 spoilers; angst; mentions of death, depression(?); part 1/?
Word Count: 1k+
masterlist.
pt. 2
This is a bad idea.
Over and over again, that one thought raced through y/n’s mind- a nonstop current of anxiety and nerves. y/n tightened her grip on her sword, her body tensing with each step. She could hear her heart pounding in her ears, her jaw clenching and unclenching.
“You don’t have to go.”
y/n turned her head towards the voice and was met with Mikasa’s soft eyes. She would always be eternally grateful for the woman next to her. The two had been taking care of each other since they were cadets, and as usual, Mikasa knew exactly what was on y/n’s mind.
“Yeah, I do,” y/n grimaced, her lips slightly turning to give Mikasa a sad smile.
Pulling away from her gaze, y/n looked ahead to the others in front of her. They were trailing behind Armin and Annie, who very obviously had some sort of tension going on between them. Connie was slightly ahead of the group, keeping an eye on Gabi and Falco. They were on their way to find Reiner Braun, the man who completely shattered y/n’s heart.
It was stupid. The way she cared about him. It’s not like they ever dated or kissed or even told each other how they felt. In fact, nothing ever even happened between the two. They were comrades, two soldiers on a battlefield. Friends who so desperately wanted to become more. But they never did. Never even had a chance to. So how, y/n thought, how in the world could you lose someone that was never really yours? And why the hell did it hurt so much?
“This one!” Gabi ran inside one of the abandoned houses, Falco following behind her.
Approaching the building, y/n and Mikasa were the last to go through the door, with y/n silently preparing herself for the sight of the man she once called her best friend. As they stepped inside, Reiner’s sleeping body came into view, immediately stopping y/n in her tracks as her fists curled at her sides. Staring wide eyed at the blonde man, she could feel the tears pricking her eyes and her breathing getting shallower. Noticing y/n’s reaction, Mikasa softly bumped her shoulder to walk past her, subtly breaking y/n out of her trance. Snapping back into reality, y/n blinked away her tears. She was not going to let him control her like that. He didn’t deserve that power and he sure as hell wasn’t worth the tears.
Crossing her arms, she watched as Annie kicked him in the face, stirring him awake. Startled, he looked around, gasping in surprise at the sight of his old friend. Becoming aware of his surroundings, his gaze immediately traveled to the rest of the scouts until it eventually landed on y/n. His eyes widened in shock, a look of pure disbelief on his face. y/n.
She was as beautiful as ever. The wisp of her hair, the e/c of her eyes. He had almost forgotten what she looked like, the memories of her slowly fading from his mind. He hasn’t been able to see her face clearly since...since he attacked her in Shiganshina.
She looked different than he remembered. Her hair was shorter and her eyes were darker, as if someone had snuffed the light out. As if he had snuffed the light out. Reiner’s heart sunk at the thought. Of course it was his fault, he had caused her- them- so much pain, so much death. He was surprised he hadn’t been attacked yet.
The more Reiner stared, the angrier y/n got. Stop. Stop looking at me like that. She wanted to scream at him, stab him, rip his face off. She wanted to make him feel what she felt. Four years. Four years of healing and forgetting all tossed down the drain at the sight of his face, his hair, his body, his eyes. Those stupid, beautiful hazel brown eyes.
She hated him. She hated him for making her feel this way. The push and pull of hatred and love. Her head and her heart. She hated him because even after all the pain and killing and betrayal, there was still a sliver in her that cared.
“We don’t have time, let’s go,” Connie urged, causing Reiner to break eye contact.
“To where?”
“To save the world.”
─────
The ride to the woods was quiet for the most part. Gabi and Falco had tried updating Reiner on everything that he missed, the older man occasionally nodding and giving them murmurs of agreement. However, despite their efforts, he was more focused on the girl across from him, his gaze lingering on y/n the whole time.
She had tried not to notice him, keeping her eyes on the ground or the sky or just anywhere that wasn’t Reiner. She didn’t really care at first, but as time went on, the more annoyed she got with his burning gaze.
“Will you stop staring?” y/n asked, finally turning to face Reiner. “You’ve been doing it since the house, it’s getting annoying. If you want to stare at someone, stare at Connie.”
Connie looked up at the mention of his name, his face scrunching up in confusion. Under y/n’s gaze, Reiner finally turned away from her and focused his eyes on the wooden floor of the cart.
If the mood hadn’t been so tense, Reiner would’ve smiled. After everything, she was still the same old y/n- snarky and humorous and not afraid to speak up. It comforted him in a way. The fact that even after the suffering and misery, she hadn’t lost the parts that made her her. She wasn’t like him. She knew exactly who she was and for some God awful reason, it just made him love admire her more.
After that, Reiner didn’t even dare glance at her. He knew he passed his limit, examining every inch of her face. The shapes, the changes, everything that he thought he forgot. The angles of her jawline; the marks on her skin; the shadows of her face. He wanted to ingrain it in his head, replacing the once youthful and innocent face he knew with something much stronger. Much colder.
He wanted to remember her. Up until his last breath, he wanted to remember her. Every intricately sculpted detail, every perfectly alluring flaw. He didn’t want to lose her. Not again.
But he also knew how much he had hurt her, how much pain he had caused. So for now, this was enough. A picture painted in his mind of a girl in a wagon, her face stern and bitter. A face full of experience and knowledge and suffering.
Yet still as beautiful as ever.

Given Isayama shows Levi with Gabi, Falco, and Onyankopon at the end, when and how do you think the three of them became close with each other? I always wonder since there wasn’t a lot of focus in the manga on their interactions, so I find it really interesting that they’re shown together at the end. On a related note, I really hope Volume 35 shows us more of them together post-Rumbling.
That's a good question. I'm writing a story about their lives together, if you have any interest: https://archiveofourown.org/works/37903426/chapters/94653316
But to answer your question, and this would just be pure speculation on my part, but I imagine Levi had zero interest in ever going back to Paradis again, given the state the island fell into, and probably just too many bad memories, at that point. So he likely opted to simply stay behind. We don't know specifically what country Levi and the others end up in, but lets just assume it's Marley.
I think Levi was probably in pretty dire straits following the final battle, and would have needed a lot of medial attention and care, and maybe Gabi, Falco and Onyankopon were the only ones available to really help him. I tend to think that the rest of them, meaning Connie, Jean, Reiner, Annie, Pieck, and Armin, would have had to deal with the fallout, and trying to smooth relations between the Eldian's and everybody else. I imagine there was some kind of immediate aftermath, probably a need for governmental hearings to figure out exactly what happened, and I imagine all of them would have, at some point, needed to give testimony or the like. Mikasa went back to Paradis, we know. Again, this is all just speculation on my part, lol.
But since Levi was so severely injured, probably close to death, if we're being realistic, I think he probably would have been hospitalized for a long time, and that would have left him unable to participate in anything immediately after the war had ended. So, yeah, I think Gabi, Falco and Onyankopon were the three people who actually knew him, who were able to stay by his side throughout this period. And I imagine they just grew closer from there.
Levi is someone who I think forms close attachments pretty quickly, despite his sometimes desire not to, given the pain he's experienced in the past, losing people he loves. He just cares too much and is too empathetic to ever really shut anyone out. So I'm certain he grew to care for the three of them quickly, and I imagine they've all formed a bit of a family unit. Even though Gabi and Falco have their own families, none of them can relate to what the two have been through in the same way Levi can, all of them having, in one way or another, had their childhoods stolen from them. I imagine Gabi and Falco really look to Levi as a mentor figure and as someone who will understand their particular trauma and struggles.
I think Levi and Falco in particular can also relate to one another, as both of them are such deeply compassionate, emotionally intelligent people, and on the specific issue of Eren, they were both betrayed by him, someone they both, at one point, considered to be a friend.
Onyankopon was shown to have formed a pretty close bond with Hange too, and I imagine that just sort of transferred over to Levi. Levi knew Onyankopon for four years, back on Paradis, so even if they weren't close, that's a long enough time to have formed an actual relationship with someone, and I imagine, with them being freed from the stress of impending war, they might have finally been able to form a real friendship too.
Given we see Gabi pushing Levi's wheelchair at the end of the manga, that also leads me to think, again, that the three of them kind of serve as Levi's primary caretakers after the war. I think they likely help him in the day to day tasks he would now find difficult, due to his disabilities. And any time you're caring for someone in relation to their health, you're automatically going to have to form a more intimate relationship with them.
Anyway, those are just some generalized thoughts. I hope we get to see some of their lives together in the upcoming story as well. That would be awesome!

Found the other super cute Levi x Anselma oneshot I wrote in December
He arrived home. A toddler with her black hair all messy sat on the couch. Beside her was a woman with slightly lighter hair and warm eyes. She was short. Shorter than him even. However what she lacked in height she made up for in personality. Anyone who knew him and knew her could easily see why it is that he adores her and why they ended up together. The only possible better match could be Hange and a titan. He adored this woman. She sat on the couch reading a book to the little girl. Her voice was sweet and melodic. It wouldn’t surprise him if she was made purely of honey itself.
The little girl though? Well truthfully Levi hadn’t seen her in quite some time. Under normal circumstances his wife would have murdered him for not spending enough time with their daughter but this was an exception. The Rumbling had to be an exception. It was either The Rumbling happened or everyone would see Paradis as weak and an easy target and continue to target them for…well forever. Life as they knew it would no longer exist, humanity would be doomed. Eldians on Paradis had never done anything to warrant such hatred. Levi himself may not have been Eldian but his wife sure is. What a beautiful soul she has.
Giggles filled the room as Anselma tickled sweet Heidi. The toddler squealed and squirmed under her mother’s touch. Heidi was his light in the darkness, his hope. She made everything worth fighting for. Such a small child brought so much joy and never failed to leave Levi in awe of the miracle of life.
In her three short years of life Heidi had taught her father a lot. Her innocence changed things. The world was a beautiful thing worth protecting through the eyes of a child. A child’s perspective could change everything. Levi knew Heidi was worth protecting. He’d never forgive himself if something terrible happened to his daughter when he could have prevented it. He’d be no better than the titans he cuts down for a living.
Now Levi just wants to fully settle down. Beside him stood two orphaned children from Marley: Gabi Braun and Falco Grice. Levi may have lost his vision in one eye, lost three fingers on his left hand, and have seriously injured his legs but that still didn’t change a whole lot for him. He could sense the uncomfortability of Gabi and Falco and quite frankly he couldn’t blame them. Levi’s dreams still remained mostly the same; a few more people were just added into the equation. He was ready to retire. He’d long since paid his dues and served his time in the Scouts, as had his wife. Now he wanted to move to Marley. Outside of the walls. It would be nice and it’s Falco and Gabi’s home. He wanted to open up a tea shop. Perhaps Anselma, Heidi, Gabi, and Falco could help him run it. They could serve chai, matcha, ginger, peppermint, lavender, and other flavors for the tea. His daughter could help her mother bake the little tea biscuits and make the tea sandwiches. He wanted to be settled down for life. A house by the sea would be nice. Especially since Anselma loves the sea so much. Perhaps they could do a proper wedding and not a rushed one because she was pregnant with Heidi. He wanted to make Falco and Gabi feel at home. It was the least he could do for them after all. He supposed he also wanted to get even. That is to say he wanted to make things even. Five just wouldn’t cut it. For one thing Anselma deserved better, and for two no one had ever been fond of odd numbers. Six was nice. Yes, six would do. Perhaps if the tea shop was successful enough he could talk his wife into a second pregnancy. Their blended family would be beautiful. All that was left to do was get Anselma on board with all of this. She’d only have to pack up her whole life, pack up Heidi’s life, move to a foreign country, take in two random children her husband brought home, risk their savings to open up a tea shop that may not even prove to be successful, find a house in the foreign country, and re-adjust her whole life to fit this new environment. No big deal at all… In short it was a very big deal. She’d be hard to convince. Not to mention he still wanted one more child. He felt bad especially because he knew she’d do it. She’d see zero point in separating the family. She was a good mother like that. After Heidi was born she resigned from the scouts to be a housewife and stay-at-home mother to Heidi and Levi. She turned out to love it and never once to his knowledge looked back.

Absent Plans: Chapter 2
Summary:
“I know I was doing my duty. I’m still sorry that I lied to you, that you had to suffer and are still suffering because of me.”
OR
Armin has become the most busy man in the world. Sometimes, all he wants to do is rest and forget. But before he does, he has to make things right with someone important.
Armin's steps dragged as he trudged through the camp, each movement heavier than the last. His eyelids drooped, burdened by the weight of fatigue. Even exhaustion didn’t quite capture Armin’s state. He had been exhausted when the walls fell around Shingshima and all that he knew disappeared with the exception of Eren and Mikasa. He had been exhausted in the month after he saw Annie with Marco’s ODM gear, constantly trying to think of excuses for her. He had been exhausted after he had eaten Bertolt inherited the Colossal Titan, kept awake with flashes of inherited memories and real memories, filled with Bertolt’s screams for the only friends he had on the continent.
“Annie! Reiner!”
He had screamed for the girl he loved and the boy he considered a brother. Armin pushed those thoughts down. It had been …a week?... since they killed Eren stopped the Rumbling. The days had turned hot, long, and unforgiving, with everyone scrambling to repair communications and transportation before they all starved. And while everyone was working together now, the ever present danger of violence loomed over their heads. There had already been more than a few raised voices and hostile glances between the Marleyans and Eldians. And while others rested in the evenings, when the sun set and physical labor was deemed too dangerous, Armin met with Secretary Muller to figure out how to keep the peace, and plan for what happened when they reconnected with the rest of the world. He hadn’t really had time to worry about anything else, like Mikasa out there all alone with Eren –. Pure, searing emotion that couldn’t be put into words began welling up, begging to be let out, but Armin blinked the tears away and swallowed it. No time for that now. Everyone, his friends who had been by his side from the beginning like Connie and Jean, the kids, Falco and Gabi, the warriors who gave up their hate to work with them to save the world Pieck, Reiner, and Annie were all counting on him to keep the peace, to keep them safe.
Today, Muller took one look at Armin when he knocked on his door and waved him away. “There’s nothing we can do until the railroads are fixed. You look dead on your feet, get some rest.” Armin wanted to protest, but took a look at Muller’s sunken eyes and figured the order was as much for Muller’s sake as it was for Armin.
Which left him here, now trudging through the makeshift camp. A part of him wanted to go straight to his tent and collapse. As a “leader” he had been given his own tent. But an observant part of his brain knew that he wasn’t tired enough yet, and in the darkness and silence his brain would go to places he wouldn’t come back from.
“Humanity will be saved by you, Armin.”
Trying to find a distraction, Armin looked around. Everyone had retired to their tents, sleep assisted by 12 hours of back breaking work in the hot sun. Amid the subdued stillness, a sudden rustling of a tent flap seized Armin's attention, and he immediately recognized the figure exiting, a byproduct of years of observing her.
Annie.
They haven't had a real conversation since everything ended. Their last real conversation had been on the boat to Odiha. He had effectively confessed his long suppressed feelings to her. Only a blush had answered him. Armin knew he was able to read people. It was part of being a good tactician, after all. And if it had been any two other people, he would have called it a confirmation of feelings, maybe love. If it hadn’t been Annie, the girl he had lied to, manipulated, and locked in an isolated prison for four years. If it wasn’t him, Armin, a burden, a fraud, a traitor to his home and a person he loved. Annie was probably just embarrassed by the confession. She had just meant to thank him for keeping her company, and had gotten unwanted advances instead.
Armin's hand lifted hesitantly, a silent greeting extended to Annie. Annie replied softly in a tone Armin couldn’t place. “Armin.” She wasn’t looking well, not just fatigued like the rest of them but with dark circles under her eyes.
“Annie.” Armin fidgeted; Annie met his eyes and seemed comfortable staring holding the stare. “Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
“I couldn’t. Are you headed to bed?”
“Not really.” A burst of courage motivated his next words. “I wanted to take a walk. Look at the moon a bit. Want to join me?”
Annie simply nodded, a subtle tilt of her head inviting him to lead the way.. His courage leaving as quickly as it appeared, Armin scrambled to find more words to fill the empty air. “Why couldn’t you sleep?” Armin wanted to hit himself as soon as the words left his mouth. Stupid question. Everyone can’t sleep for similar reasons.
A momentary pause hung in the air, Armin bracing himself for a rebuke that never came. Instead, Annie's tentative voice broke the silence, “The crystal. Every time I close my eyes, I think I’ll be back there when I try to open them again.”
Armin’s stomach churned. His fault. It's always his fault. He knew Annie held him responsible for cornering her, for forcing her to lock herself in a crystal to avoid a worse fate. She had said as much before the attack on the port. It still hurt to be reminded of what he had done. “I know I don’t have a right to say this.” Armin started, trying to clearly express his thoughts. “But I’m sorry for lying to you in Stohess and trapping you.”
They had reached a secluded cliff side, the moon shining down onto them. Armin stopped, turning around to face Annie, expecting disgust or hatred on her face. Instead, he found the beginnings of a bemused smile on her lips, and a tired fondness in her pale blue eyes. “Armin, I was the enemy. I killed Marco and was trying to capture Eren. You had to do your duty and I don’t hold that against you.” Annie spoke like they were talking about mere inconveniences, like if Armin had accidentally splashed her with water while cooking.
“I know I was doing my duty.” Armin’s voice shook, and a flicker of concern flashed on Annie’s face. “I’m still sorry that I lied to you, that you had to suffer and are still suffering because of me.”
The silence that followed felt heavy. Armin let his conscience continue to spill out, blinking back tears. “You probably wish you had flattened me on that scouting expedition, huh, ” he admitted, a wistful ache in his voice, “Save everyone, especially you, a lot of trouble.” A look of horror dawned on Annie’s face. Armin felt better, lighter after putting to words the thoughts running through everyone’s mind especially hers.
Still, he realized, as Annie's gaze remained fixed on him, a cocktail of emotions swirling in her eyes—fear? alarm? concern?—, it was unbecoming of a commander to express such a sentiment. Erwin and Hange had never been so weak, let alone express it like he had just done. If he was lucky, Annie would remain quiet about it and let this embarrassing moment pass. Armin scrambled to try to fix the situation. “I apologize. I was tired and spoke inappropriately. It won’t happen again. I should rest.” Armin turned his back, intent on exiting as gracefully as possible–
A vice-like, almost painful grip on his right hand stopped him in his tracks. “Stop.” Annie commanded. She seemed to realize how hard she was gripping and relaxed her hand a bit, leaving it firm with no room to escape. “I don’t regret sparing you that day on the expedition. I could never really regret that.” Annie paused. “You kept me company after all.”
Armin turned to face Annie, hand still securely gripped. “You wouldn’t have needed company if you had just killed me–”
“I’m not done.” Annie interrupted, clearly struggling to find words. “Because I spared you, I learned that you had always wanted to explore the world outside the walls, to see the ocean. I learned about your grandfather and the straw hat that he left behind.” Annie met his eyes, and Armin was taken aback at the resolve and emotion in those orbs. “Because I spared you, I had someone to come back for, to fight for when I thought my father had already been trampled by the rumbling.” Annie bit her lip nervously, and moved closer, taking his other hand. “Because I spared you, I’m here right now with you, and I have a future to build.”
Armin swallowed. This can’t be real. This is another one of those dreams, I’m asleep right now in the basement with Annie’s crystal. He tried to open his mouth to speak but emotion choked back any words.
Annie seemed to understand. “I know that you’re used to speaking to me and not getting a response, but I’m here now.” Pulling him even closer, Annie held his biceps, her head almost at his chest. If it had been a different situation, Armin was sure he would be bright red. “I’ll be here for as long as you want me to be.”
The dam burst. Armin sobbed, feeling all the emotion bubbling out of him. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Eren, I’m sorry. Eren-” Annie hugged him tightly as Armin settled bonelessly into her embrace, burying his face into her shoulder  “I’m so sorry Eren. Why didn’t you talk to us! We could have figured out another way. I should have caught it!” Armin cried for his friend, a boy who was dedicated to being free over all else, who was willing to sacrifice his humanity to keep his friends safe. He weeped for Mikasa, who was forced to kill the man she had dedicated her life to. For Hange, who was a more capable and honest commander than he could ever be.
And when Armin could feel the emotions begin to ebb away, head and heart feeling lighter, he pulled his head out of Annie’s shoulder and remembered who he was in the presence of. “Annie.. I–”
“If you’re apologizing to me again I will flip you,” Annie calmly warned. Armin closed his mouth. There would be other times to bring that topic up.  “Don’t ever say anything so stupid about yourself like that again.” Armin wanted to agree, to alleviate her worry, but he couldn’t bring himself to lie to Annie again. Annie softened. “I’ll remind you every time if that’s what it takes. I wasn’t joking about what I said before. I’m here now. I promise.”
“I’ll always be by your side,” Armin breathed out.
Annie's lips curved into a small grin. “I know.” Armin flushed at that. “Anyway, if I had killed you back then,” Annie continued, “I would have had to hunt myself down for that.” Armin realized she wasn’t joking, her expression becoming hard, the same one she wore in combat.
Armin's action was instinctive, his forehead finding a resting place against Annie's. He couldn't help but notice the gentle flush that graced her cheeks. “I'm glad you didn’t then,” he mused, his eyes falling shut. And on that cliffside, at what would have been the end of the world, the two began to lay the past to rest.
A/N:
So this was a bit of a struggle. I honestly seriously considered keeping both chapters Annie PoV, but I know that Armin PoV is a challenge to write and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. And yea I can see why. I can’t figure out how insecure I want to make him since he’s all super competent leader one moment and an emotional stuttering mess the next. He needed to be emotionally intelligent enough to be a cunning strategist, but also dumb enough to miss some pretty obvious signs. Luckily, the insecurity helps with bridging that gap.
I realized when I was writing the Annie/Armin scene that I had somehow, without planning to, written a worse version of “Tomorrow will come” by moonspirits. Sorry moonspirits, hope you don’t mind too much.
Also very clearly, I wanted to integrate Bertholdt and the guilt Armin feels about eating a friend. But I couldn’t find a clean way to integrate it, and I realized that conversation could be an entire chapter by itself so it got scrapped.
I’m not the greatest at writing romance, but I tried. Annie is uh definitely more competent at using words and communicating than she probably would be a week after the rumbling, but look it’s hard to write a confession of feelings if neither of the characters can communicate. And I didn’t have them kiss, given that the closest Annie gets to hugging someone in the entire canon is pseudo hugging Reiner, someone she’s known for literally more than half of her life, I feel like Annie and Armin would be the slowest of slow burns as far as contact/physical intimacy goes. Scandalous, I know. Or maybe they’re all so pent up that they’re tearing the clothes off each other, which is another fair take.
One of my major concerns in this chapter is how it works with the last one. I hopefully didn’t write Annie’s PoV as being too harsh on Armin for his actions in Stohess. I also didn’t have the time to fully develop Annie’s thought process to the point it ends up here, where she’s ready to forgive him, since it's not her PoV anymore. I think that there’s two main points that lead her to forgiveness. 1. She’s accomplished everything she’s set out to do. She’s home, has a future and returns to her dad. It’s a lot easier to forgive people when you’ve still succeeded in your primary goals. 2. She sees that Armin is genuinely sorry about it and has held onto the guilt for a long time, just like she has for betraying him and by extension the rest of the Paradisans.        As always, thank you for reading, and I welcome any comments you may have.

Holà Flor !
I'm slowly recovering after all the tears your fic "Margaritas" drew from me !!! 😭😭😭😭OMG I started to cry from "Las margaritas, senor" on until the end & more & more as the story unfolded & cried again after the reading was over 😭😭😭😭 Your words are pure poetry and I felt so connected with Levi & his grief all along. These scenes are so beautiful they broke my heart 💔💔💔💔 Levi's sorrow & his love for Hanji are so vivid I feel them in my own heart and soul... I just want to hug him tight & tell him all's gonna be OK & he'll find Hanji & they will love each other forever 💜💚❤️❤️ He suffered so much all his life long, he lost everyone he loved, it's so tragic 😭😭 But knowing that Gaby & Falco took care of him & loved him until the end just warms & softens my heart 🤗 You are very talented to make your reader feel so many emotions, so keep on writing more & more about LeviHan, please 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️THANK YOU FLOR FOR THIS STORY, IT'S PURE GOLD ❤️❤️
Hasta luego, Flor ! Abrazos desde Francia !!
AAAAAAA THIS MESSAGE MADE MY NIGHT AND ENTIRE WEEK❤️❤️❤️❤️ you're so so so sweet! thank you from the bottom of my heart for such kind wordss🥺 they mean a lottt! ❤️❤️❤️
now, let me just say i can't believe somebody from france is reading my stories, let alone using them as a way to practice spanish😭 it's always such an HONOR when people tell me thatt! to me, there's a special beauty in spanish as a language (and yes, maybe i'm biased, idk😂), so it's always super nice when somebody else appreciates thatt! ❤️
also, thank you for saying that you connected with levi's grief😥 writing him has literally helped me deal with my own feelings towards death and loss, and it has always been therapeutic. in this oneshot, i wanted to (sort of) make a special study/emphasis on grief and all the different sides that there's to it (because grief is never a linear process, but rather a flawed and imperfect one, you know?). so, you have levi, who subconsciously forgets about the people he's lost (because remembering is too hurtful), while on the other hand there's gaby, who's willing to remember even when it hurts. it's two sides of the same coin, and i'm glad you liked how i expressed the both of them overall🥺❤️
obviously not a fan of making people cry lmao😂, but i do like it indeed when people tell me i've struck a chord with them or that i've been able to awaken some kind of emotion in them. as a writer, that's really all i strive for. so it for sure is super fulfilling knowing that you've been able to feel through my words. thank you for giving me that chance❤️
and yes, lastly but not least, levi and hanji deserved all the love and happiness in the world. i'll make sure to keep writing for them in many, many lives and spaces and universes where they meet again and get to fall in love❤️ as long as y'all allow me to.
again, thank you so so so much! ❤️ for these super nice words that mean more than you could ever imagine, for the constant love and support, for being patient with me and just for being there overall❤️❤️❤️
if any of you wants to read my fic, here's a link to it:

Attack on Titan - Season 4 Part 2 A predictably long commentary because as much as I talk about AoT, it's never enough.
(full manga spoilers, including for the ending)
-okay! part 2! i feel uneasy, the further we get into post-time skip stuff, the more painful it ge- AAAND we open with levi's cut-off fingers. great.
-they're nailing the silences and the pauses, they give things time to breathe.
-wtf, that op??? omg?? mappa?? i cry??
-again, eren "didn't expect marley to risk an all-out attack." not omniscient.
-this "koi yo, reiner" lives rent-free in my head
-reiner to eren: "nobody needs to suffer anymore. *you* don't need to suffer anymore." oh reiner
-OH THE CHILDREN ARE IN PRISON, THESE WERE THE HIGH-PITCHED SCREAMS! RIGHT!
-armin just NAILED eren's entire plan and situation just like that, huh. i mean, he didn't realize how FAR he'd go with the rumbling, but all else is spot-on.
-the end titles??? mappa, i cry???
-did armin suspect a full rumbling?? with the sea flashback?? did i completely underestimate armin post-time skip - I GOT OVERWHELMED, OKAY, I WAS FREAKING OUT
-one of my regrets with aot was that eren and mikasa never talked on page about the fact that he didn't mean it when he said he hated her, and that he was actually protecting her. i know we can surmise it from switzerland and that he might have actually said it off-page too, but i wish we'd seen it.
-EREN LOOKS SO VULNERABLE WHEN ZEKE COMES I HATE IT (this was my exact reaction in the manga too. i love eren so much.)
-if there's one thing i've learned from opening titles is they're chock full of spoilers if you know the source material
-it's sweet how falco and gabi inherit a levi, isn't it
-is this where gabi blows eren's head off. i'll watch it if i have to but I HATE IT IT HURTS
-oh so eren didn't want zeke turning the wine-people into titans (and didn't know it would come to him doing it, not omniscient)
-dude the tension in the "brothers" ep is real
-pfff eren's lil roll out of his titan is so cute. the shot is coming tho and i hate it (and eren didn't know it would happen).
-DUDE THE HEADSHOT SCENE IS SO GOOD, WHAT, MAPPA HAVE OUTDONE THEMSELVES WITH AOT
-eren also didn't know about the coordinate and ymir (not omniscient).
-oooh so zeke COULD call for the euthanasia plan bc he nullified the vow waiting for eren to regenerate, but eren won ymir over HOW DID I FORGET THAT
-dude aot is unbearably good help
-eren didn't know grisha found the reiss family this early
-dude, loose-long-hair eren is so pretty.
-i love the part with eren screaming in the op, i love it so much, it's so raw
-eren: "if someone's aiming to steal my freedom, i'd gladly steal theirs first."
-eren interrupts his bashing of zeke to stare silently at baby eren and baby mikasa. as you do.
-yuki kaji is just. perfect.
-eren learned the close-to-your-face manipulation stance by mikasa
-okay so grisha doesn't physically see zeke, he sees eren's memory of what’s happening as eren relays it and knows he's there, but he basically hugs thin air.
-okay so, eren knew he'd manipulate grisha bc he's seen this - he's probably seen grisha hear eren's voice. he didn't know *how* this comes to be. i think he realizes he can show grisha memories when sleeping grisha wakes up to "seeing" zeke. eren looks surprised, so i think that's when he understands he can show him selective memories in real time, and that's why he goes from "why are we doing this" to "let's go. next memory. now."
-i can't stress enough what a great job zeke's va does.
-wait, i love this cast so much, i can't
-since armin is usually right, eren *couldn't* turn the pure titans into humans. either because they were zeke's titans, or because that's not what he asked of ymir, and ymir at that point would never destroy titans bc the king willed it so; or maybe it just isn't possible and tweaking eldian dna to defend from a virus is entirely separate to changing someone from titan to human.
-oh look, tanjiro and zenit- i mean, falco and connie. I'M SORRY I LOVE TO MAKE THESE REFERENCES
-dude. mappa. let's talk. you've done a good thing.
-there's just sth iconic about seeing annie and reiner fight together, i said so in the manga and i say so in the anime
-odiha
-can i just say how refreshing it is that floch is smart. he's detestable, but it's refreshing that he's not the dumb right hand blindly following eren, he's actually a force to be reckoned with
-everything in the port is so (appropriately) ugly, paradis killing paradis with such viciousness. so ugly. great work. excellent work mappa. excellent. i'm tearing up.
-eren/mikasa, what nonsense, we should be shipping mikasa/ice cream, she's so lovely
-ah the semi-good times in marley when eren could still smile/laugh
-smiling drunk eren took one look at smiling drunk armin and mikasa and was like, 'ah yes, rip the world.'
-i think it fitting that other than mikasa and armin it's jean that sleeps the closest to eren. i think they have a special bond
-ep28 is structured like a his-and-hers episode.
-ah ok, eren knew about the wine.
-to be fair, eren isn't exactly explicit with historia. he could have said "IMMA FUCKING ELIMINATE THE TITANS," but no, he said he'll end the hate by burying history and civilization. why go half-way, just tell her. It’s a shame we didn’t explore historia’s mindset on not opposing eren at all (and no, a one-line argument doesn’t count).
-so eren saw CONNIE in the memory shards, not sasha's death. no context.

There's so little content of our kids that my brain created it's own. And now i wrote it down.
Please check out my fic!
For now, that's enough
Summary:
"2 years have passed since the battle that changed everything. It doesn't mean their life is fine and dandy now though. The memories are always there, haunting, waiting to show their ugly heads again the moment you think they're gone.
The knocking on the door snapped him out of his thoughts. He glanced at the clock. Right on time."

Alright...
Chapter 127 is one of my favorite chapters in War For Paradis, so seeing it animated made me really happy
first of all that baby was cute that's it
tbh I wished Hange had raised their voice even more to convey more emotion as shown in the manga, because of the expression lines and all but It's good
Seeing the old scouts get animated in MAPPA also was cool, like i said in my last post abt the previous episode, Im not even an erwin stan but damn he looked good, have you also seen Miche/Mike? Whoo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bro Marco in MAPPA made me feel things, I love my boy so much even tho i make a lot of half jokes-
Tumblr media
This episode made me sympathize with Jean a lot, which i did not honestly expect, he became my favorite character in a span of 24 minutes, seriously tho, he's honestly relatable in terms of realism
Gabi and Reiner's face when Magath tells them the sufferings of The Island devils isnt compared to what Marley has experienced, like wow it says so much fr it does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mikasa and Annie facing off each other, god i love that annie shot with her blade
Tumblr media
And Yelena? My god don't even get me started, Just like Jean I'm like wow this person speaks so much facts, and i was just cheering her on while she told the crimes of every single one of them like go on queen
oh and let's not forget about the expression Annie and Reiner make when she mentions Marco, pure, just pure satisfaction, Marco's death was one of the most cruelest things that happened, i haven't quite gotten over the unfairness of his death so yeah, but is it just me or do Annie and Reiner look more remorseful than in the manga when telling about his death,
Those shots, those weird branch shots i like them honestly, if i overanalyze it like i always do i'd say its like showing a shot of the paths so there's that
jean beating up Reiner, i swear guys i like reiner
Tumblr media
Hange just being Hange, gosh they were so great this episode, their face when Reiner mentions about his split personality, them saying how no one was their to witness the past and to tell them to cut their bullshit, them saying "What about your seconds?"
Tumblr media
Gabi apologizing, now her VA did a good job, so did Falco's, them saying please made my heart ache, poor kids
Istg guys Jean looked so good this episode especially these two shots
Jean apologizing to Gabi was idk ig this a stretch is kind of like Levi apologizing to Eren after yk beating him up, eh maybe that was just me, but fr Jean would rock the Captain position tho, and this part where annie says
Like did the guys rlly forgive her in the end? Ofc we don't know, no one bothered lol
Pieck in all her glory, amazing
I love this episode but lemme tell u guys I hate that god! only three episodes left, yk yk chapter 132 and then i will go into a deep state of isolation and utter emptiness bcus damn me for diving so deep into the aot fandom without any alternatives to make myself feel better when it ends, oh well there's always aot junior high,
at least the fandom would be suffering with me as well so cheers to us coping

Hey:) can i request some Levi fluff after chapter 139?
Thanks!
AN: ahhhh I honestly love writing Levi post war
Summary: Levi's recovery is difficult, but you're with him every step of the way.
Word Count: 1.1K
Warnings: hospital, 139 SPOILERS, mentions of injuries, let me know if I missed anything!
_____________
Levi had never imagined a life without a fight around each corner. From the moment he was born he had to claw and kick his way through his childhood. During his young adult life, he secured a name for himself, the fighting continued, but it wasn't as brutal. Or at least for him it wasn't. Then during his mid twenties and into his thirties he became a soldier. It was rather fitting, it was almost as if the universe kicked him back down those steps that he had been desperately dragging himself up, sending him spiraling back into that darkness.
But being a soldier wasn't all that bad. He met some great people, some with promising young minds, with appetites that were ravenous, some with rage that they could not seem to contain. He would never admit it to their face, well unless he was extremely drunk or on his death bed that is, but he cherished them all dearly.
So as he sat numbly in the hospital bed, miles and miles away from where he had started and feeling so very lonely. The kids came to visit of course, Gabi and Falco bringing sweets and new tins of tea. Armin dropping off newspapers, Connie and Jean coming to tell him new stories and remind him of the old. Even Mikasa came, he thought he enjoyed her visits the most, she would simply tidy his room and leave new flowers once a week. Some days she would sit at his bedside and just enjoy his company.
There were some people that would come to visit who would sour his mood with just the sight of them. It wasn't that he hated them, but rather he wished to leave them in the past as he had so many before them. Pieck would come with Gabby and Falco somedays, Levi assumed it was purely because she had escorted them there as they had no friendship.
Once, Reiner had tagged along with Jean and Connie. He had only poked his head in before retreating promptly. But the worst visit of all was when Armin had the audacity to bring Annie. The blonde boy had set the newspaper on the nightstand and taken his usual seat by Levi's bedside while Annie stood awkwardly by the doorway.
"Come to make amends?" Levi had rasped, his grey eye trained on the young woman.
"I cannot." She said, her usual mask had slipped, revealing the face of a sad little girl. He would've felt bad for her if he hadn't known what she had done, who she had killed.
"Hm." He had simply hummed not interested in what she had to say.

As he recovered from his injuries he met knew people. Doctors and nurses all coming and going with trays of food, and medicine. But he came to appreciate a certain young woman. You had been there from the start when Armin and Jean had hauled him into one of the hospital tents erected during the state of emergency.
His first memory of you was your hands, they were warm against his icy skin. He had looked up at you through blurry eyes as you ran your hands over his knee. Your words had been distorted and impossible to make out, but he remembered how it seemed to act as a salve, smoothing over his pain.
When he woke up from his stupor you had been there, fingers pressed to his throat. Instinctively he had swatted your hand away, and you had seemed surprised, but not offended.
"I'm trying to check your pulse captain." You explained, slowly moving to resume your ministrations.
"I'm fine." He had struggled to form the words after not speaking for days, and you had smiled softly at him.
"And I'm glad that you are, but I have to check." Levi let you, or rather he didn't have the strength to swat your hand away again.
He thought that he looked forward to seeing his cadets, and of course he did. But he couldn't compare seeing them to seeing you. When you walked in the room he perked up, eager to see you and soothed by your presence. You would sweep into the room and take his vitals, your calloused hands smoothing over his injured legs or lifting the bandages around his head. Not once had you flinched when you saw the deep gashes that had been carved into his once smooth flesh. Not once did you comment on the way he shakily stood, or how he needed you to hold him steady the first few times.
You wouldn't take shit from him either. On his bad days when he would snap viciously at you, words so cruel even he regretted uttering them. You would hardly flinch, countering his sharp tongue with words of encouragement. A small part of him wanted to test your limits, how long until you gave up on him? Left him in this bare room to rot alone.
But he soon found that your patience knew no boundaries. You remained by his side through all the difficult months of recovery, all the way up until it was time for him to be discharged. Onyankopon had came to get him along with Gabi and Falco, he stood with a wheelchair gripped in his hands, the two kids on either side of him with big smiles. You stood at Levi's side, hand on his shoulder as he swung his legs out from under the covers.
"How exciting is this?" It was one of the only times Levi caught that positivity you normally slipped into your tone wavering. Could it be that you were sad to see him go? How could you be when all he had ever done to you was be a bitter old man?
"Not very." Levi said dully as you took his hands and helped him pull himself onto his feet.
"You get to go explore the city, maybe open that tea shop?" Levi's eyes widened in surprise, so you had been paying attention when the kids would beg for him to open a cafe. But that also meant you might have been listening to their other conversations, which both scared him and brought him a sliver of joy.
"If I do....will you be my first customer?" He asked rather boldly and he heard the kids both gasp. Your cheeks flushed a rose color and you helped him limp over to the wheel chair.
"Of course I'll be there." You words were hushed and heavy with emotion, apparently he had meant just as much to you as you had to him all of this time.
"I'd like that." He said as you eased him into his wheel chair. Onyankopon smiled widely at you and tipped the brim of his hat. Gabi and Falco both waved at you as they turned to leave the room, you watched with a fond gaze as the group left.
You hoped he would open that shop and you would be his first and favorite customer.
