[ CARESS ] for one muse to possessively kiss the other in public.
@lordgortrash
The day of Gortash's ordination ceremony was one that had been long anticipated. Like any formal event, invitations had to be sent and confirmations checked thrice. Luckily, such tedious ordeals were something beneath their rank of things and all Melinoe had to do was show up and look pretty.
So look pretty she did. Her usual double braids were swapped for a more regal half-updo that gave the pattern of her curls and length of her hair a moment to adore. She'd even opted for a rather fashionable, sleek black dress from only the most celebrated of shops in Baldur's Gate rather than her signature battle dress. It wasn't as comfortable, but it was certainly more appropriate for the event.
Melinoe didn't care for the nobles and she also didn't care to hide that fact from them. She kept herself viable to all those in the room, if only so it couldn't be said she wasn't present, but kept herself occupied with a goblet of wine.
She was leaned comfortably against one of the stone pillars, a hip popped out just enough for her to rest her elbow when she needed to swish her goblet in disapproval at any nearby noble who got a little too loud or a little too close.
But between her little grimaces at having to behave herself until the end of the ceremony, she was diligently watching Gortash as noble after noble approached him with intent to get in his good graces.
Pathetic, honestly, the way they were so desperate for relevance and to keep a grip on the power that they did nothing with except to drown in wine, cunts, cocks, and coin that did nothing but collect dust. It was pointless. They didn't even deserve it. The nobles just went by life passively waiting for the next most powerful in Baldur's Gate to make their claim so they could kiss their feet and continue on with their mediocrity. They had power to shape the world around them. Yet they squandered it. They turned their heads and gorged themselves, filling their bloated bellies by swiping from the plates of those trapped on the piss-lined streets below them.
No wonder her past self wanted to dominate them. The pests.
The tiefling had almost gotten so lost in her pure disdain of these so-called nobles that the sound of a lilted giggle barely caught her attention. She turned her heads towards the direction, sparing a lady in a gaudy red dress her judgement, only to find that of course there was a noble would sought to try and obtain more power by throwing his daughter out as a bargaining chip. The maiden in question looked rather young. Pretty, but plain for a noble.
There wasn't any real reason for a strange sensation of anger to bubble up inside of Melinoe. It wasn't as if she and Gortash had claimed one another o anything. She enjoyed their flirtations and indulgences, but it was obvious she couldn't give him exactly whatever it was her past self had given him. She was a different woman after all.
She shouldn't have felt jealous at the idea of his attention momentarily drifting from her.
And yet she couldn't lie and say she didn't feel drawn to him. That those flirtations and moments stolen away to enjoy said indulgences hadn't become things she rather coveted.
Without even thinking, she had pushed herself off from the column she'd been leaning and was making quick steps in their direction. She easily slipped into the conversation, a sickly sweet smile twisting onto her face while her eyes narrowed at the maiden.
—— ❝ Pardon. ❞ was the only word offered before completely turning away from the noble and his daughter, her attention instead focused solely on grabbing Gortash by the collar and pulling him down so she could crash her lips against his.
And it wasn't a tame kiss. No, it was hungry and dominating, her teeth grazing over his bottom lip before she nipped down and tugged. Not enough to draw blood, not in front of their guests, but enough to get his attention and to make her point clear.
And then, as quickly as she'd approached, she spun about like a whirlwind. She only spared a pointed glance to the noble and a catty farewell. ❝ Excuse me. ❞ Then back to her perch to people-watch she went.
