(based on this post by @waterfire1848) what if: sokka and zuko befriend each other in ba sing se!! after the initial shock, they eventually trust each other and even get matching earrings! besties!!
[ID: This is a three panel comic of a conversation between Sokka in his regular outfit, and Zuko as the Blue Spirit, both drawn in warm colors during a sunset. The first panel is a panoramic view of the two sitting on top of a roof in the Ba Sing Se skyline, surrounded by artificial lights. In the second panel, Sokka attentively watches a serious Zuko saying: “Halloween is so stupid. Dressing up, pretending to be someone you’re not...”. In the third panel, Sokka grabs at Zuko’s shoulder with one hand and gestures wildly with another, telling him: “You are the Blue Spirit!”; to which, he only looks away embarrassed and softly responds: “I know...”. End ID]

Thinking about Steve and Eddie waiting for the right time to propose to each other and they somehow do it at the same time.
And they don't know that the other wants to propose, nor do they tell the same people. Nancy and Jonathan know that Eddie wants to propose to Steve. Robin and Dustin know that Steve wants to propose to Eddie. The reason why Steve hasn't said anything to Nancy and Jonathan was because it felt a little bit weird to talk about it with your ex and her partner. On the other side Eddie KNEW neither Robin nor Dustin could keep a secret from Steve he didn't trust those two with the secret and Eddie really wanted to be special.
They chose the same place to propose, too - the Lover's Lake because that's where everything began and they wanted to give that day a good connotation. Steve and Dustin and Robin has worked hard for a character sheet for Steve ; it was literally Steve if everything they had gone through was part of a DnD campaign but with the difference that he was married to 'Eddie The Banished' (Steve planned to give the sheet to Eddie and wait until he got to the married part until he asked "If you would have me?" and get out the ring). Meanwhile Eddie and Nancy and Jonathan worked on this album full of photos with the party together over the years (the kids through high school + the graduation photos ; the photos from their trips around the state ; Steve with either Robin or Nancy and Jonathan or Eddie or the kids or the Byers or everyone ; little moments and random photos with caption like 'First time trying pineapple on pizza!!!' or 'First date without the kids around') with the last photo being of Steve and Eddie (the very first photo they took together) with the question "Will you marry me?" under it.
They looked over them at the same time. Stopped to fucking process what was going on. Look at each other like two idiots. They took the ring out at the same time and I don't know if they started laughing or crying or arguing over who would propose but I can guarantee the answer was yes from them both.
BONUS : Meanwhile Robin & Dustin meet with Nancy & Jonathan while hiding near the lake and they all do the Spider-Man meme while questioning each other what they were doing there. Everyone fucking face palmed when they came to the conclusion that those two were going to propose at the same time. Pure gold.
2 x BONUS : Somehow Max knew about it and said nothing because she thought it would be funny (and was 100% right)

the broker fic is coming along nicely and i'm currently prepping chapter 13 so i can drop it next week, it's gonna be a fun one >:^)
‘Listen,’ the man said, once again pointing his finger in Vitali’s direction.
‘I’ma give you to the count of five, and if I don’t have my eddies back by then- all three thousand of ‘em- that dark red suit o’ yours is gonna be red for vastly different reasons.’
‘Really now?’ Vitali asked, raising his eyebrow and slightly tilting his head, a smile taking shape on his face as he let his eyes trail the crowd; people were starting to get rowdy, starting to cheer. A rush of adrenaline was already soaring through his system, reminding him of the street fights he used to participate in-
Sure, he was there for business now. But he could have a little bit of fun.
‘One!’ the guy yelled, his voice barely audible above the buzz of the club, the music suddenly a lot louder than before; though it could just be Vitali’s imagination, straightening his back and redistributing his weight to his left leg while grabbing his cane halfway down the shaft.
‘Two!’
‘You sure you’re going to do this, jefe?’ Judy asked. ‘Viktor’s gonna kill you.’
‘Only if I get hurt,’ Vitali replied, rolling back his neck as the man yelled out a loud three, dragging it out a little bit longer as if he was trying to give Vitali time to reconsider.
Another day, another client turning against him. Far from the first time and far from the last; though usually Vitali dealt with these sorts of things with a bit more finesse than he was about to do.
‘Four!’
He did not care. His reputation preceded him; the bruising of his knuckles as dark as the rims underneath his eyes, everyone knew Vitali Dobrynin was a fighter first and a fixer second. All to protect, all out of love- but no one cared about that. They only ever saw what was on show.
‘FIVE!’

I just made myself sad with the thought that the flea in Robin's ear was probably his only friend for a very long time - certainly the only one apart from Moonah who never left.

you’re not the only one who has spent the past days thinking about olliallu kisses 😩 but aaaaaaaaa tipsy kisses 😭🥺💕 and some hotel room cuddles after a show 💗🥺 and them trying not to get caught in the tour bus 👀
and I gotta admit I also thought about them sharing some secret kisses in the Aleksi’s home studio while his partner is home (but it wasn’t their intention!! it just happened)
oh god these two are just made to share cute, loveydovey kisses with each other aren't they 😩
hhmmhmhmmhmhmhmhmh yesyesyes this is so very mhmhmhmhm 👀👀👀👀 alsooooooo can we discuss the turmoil of finally realising you've fallen for a bandmate, like, they've spent weeks, maybe months just trying to ignore this stupid feeling they may or may not have (or, alternatively, trying to understand it, but they can't quite grasp it) and trying to rationalize and come up with other explanations for it, and then they have a hot, spur-of-the-moment making-out session while ever-so-slightly wine drunk and they're like oh shit oh fuck oh shit am I ACTUALLY falling for him oh no this is terrible 😭
'friends falling in love when they shouldn't' my most beloved angsty trope <3

TDI Advice wanted!
Hi TD fans! I'm planning a rewrite of TDI, the cast will be 18 for in-universe reasons (think legal contracts, I'm not gonna be weird about them). I'm aiming to make it more realistic and in line with the 2007 aesthetic, i.e era appropriate lingo & references, mobile phones are rare, homophobia is a bigger concern etc, but I'm wondering how far I should take it?
In the end I'll write what I enjoy, but should I lean more heavily into the gritty side of reality TV both on and behind the screen, include more notable sexism, potential slurs and creepy behaviours etc? The point is for there to be believable drama in-universe and the topics planned all have some merit to be present. I have some hard lines I'll never cross (see last tags on the post for those curious) and I want people familiar with the themes to feel seen rather than exploited reading it.
At the end of the day the cast are just youngsters getting to know each other and themselves. I want to humanize them and write believable conflicts without demonizing anyone, it is intended as a character driven story after all. But I also want to know what others think would make for an enjoyable read/take on the show.
The cast will inevitably diverge from their canon counterparts, but I am unsure how to handle certain characters, an example being LeShawna. She's clearly based on a racist stereotype, but her personality, background and lingo are a huge part of her appeal and I'd rather portray her in a better light than change her from the ground up. If you have any pointers I can keep in mind for her or anyone else you think is often portrayed poorly in canon or fanon then please let me hear your takes! This goes for non-TDI castmates as well, even if they don't show up in the story I wanna know what people think does and doesn't work for them and their tropes/traits cause it might still be relevant!

What's your interpretation of the weird/annoyed look Five gets on his face when Tegan announces that she wants to rejoin the TARDIS at the end of Arc of Infinity? I know it was probably meant to be played for laughs, but it annoys me every time i watch that episode and i'm curious what headcanons people have about it.
My favourite thing I've read about it pointed out that the cybermen specifically used Tegan as a weakness against five, that she's what it took to manipulate him (and through no fault of either of them, Adric's death was part of those consequences.) The novelisation really goes in to the descriptions of the doctor transfixed with the blood running down Tegan's chin from her bitten lip, the building tension as the cybermen get closer and closer to killing her and he's shaking trying to hold himself back from admitting his hearts are so easy to twist, just by threatening his friends. (Does Nyssa ever leave the TARDIS when it's on the spaceship? The cybermen don't even know she exists til they come onboard do they?)
As for why he looks so annoyed? hmmm. Does anyone want someone around that constantly needles them? Really, I think pre Arc of Infinity that even though Tegan had chosen to stay, they still had that power imbalance or even just tension between them that she had not come on board willingly. So five is expecting that to be the continuing, I don't know, continuing manner between them and it hadn't been good. It had its moments (mainly in the audios) but as an arrangement it was not ideal as friends to explore the universe together, all that terrible beauty and awesome monsters.
But it doesn't continue on in that manner - oh they bicker and make faces at each other, sure, but Tegan's conscious decision to step back onto the TARDIS irons out those imbalances, removes that bitterness and the past of her aunt's death. So when he makes that wee face, it's in expectation of the previous status quo. And never let it be said that Tegan's one to do exactly what's expected of her.
Anyway I really hope this makes sense and I may add some more thoughts later but it's 1:50 am Christmas Eve and I couldn't sleep for thinking about this.
----
It's 2am I'm back. I feel like there's also this uneasiness in five about tegan, that mirror that no one likes being held up to themselves. Their similarities but the starkly different ways they express them must be exhausting to five. and here she is back again. To push and prod and challenge and be brashly beautifully glorious. wait. that last bit was the two am shipper coming out. Anyway they draw strength and resolve and anger from each other and Tegan was vital to five, from his first moments till his very last.

Hey you! Have you been looking and searching for Engineer Mark’s rant in the “hold on” ending? Have you been looking for the dialogue before and after the fateful “don’t” moment? Fear not, because I have it all right here for you! (Yes I transcribed this because I was looking for it and I couldn’t find it so I said frick it I’ll do it myself). Here we go! (PSST. Spoilers for the ending of In Space With Markiplier, if you didn’t know :D)
Sorry about that. Couldn’t afford to let you make another mistake. Yeah. funny thing to say after an eternity of nothing but second chances— don’t.
You don’t have to keep trying anymore. There’s no time anyway. Another thing I never thought I’d say again. But I’m gonna fix the damage you caused. I have had a long time to spend rebuilding this machine you broke. A long time, over too many lives. But I know now that this thing does more than just make wormholes.
Distance and time are the same thing from different perspectives. That’s all these universes are, just different points of view. And this machine didn’t just bridge a tunnel through our universe—it was bridging all of them. And you destroyed it.
I can’t undo what you’ve done. Not here, anyway… or at least, not now. If I could go back, if I could try again, if I could stop you before any of this even started, maybe I could save everyone.
Captain, captain, NO! You’ll destroy everything! Again!
Captain, captain! Don’t let go! Don’t let go!
..Wait. Let me go. Captain, please. I can fix this. Look, I don’t know what you did, and maybe you didn’t mean to, but I have to stop you. I have to! Gosh, I wish I had thought of a fake hand or something. Please! This is it! This is the end of everything. Everyone that ever existed is gonna get wiped out unless you let. Me. Go! Captain! Please. I have to keep trying. I have to.
Please, let me go. I know I can fix everything. I know there’s a perfect solution. I just have to find it! Please! Captain! Captain, no! Captain, don’t do it! Captain!
What have you done? You destroyed us. You destroyed everything. This was our last chance to fix things, and it’s gone. I spent an eternity in hell rebuilding this stupid machine, and you threw it all away! I don’t know if you’re evil or just stupid, but if I’m not back there to fix it…
If I’m not back there…
If I’m not back then… the warp core is not back?
I thought I rebuilt it because you destroyed it. Unless…
I built the warp core?
I sent it back?
I built it.
I built it. It was my fault.
I’m—Captain, I’m tired. I don’t know when the last time I slept was. I don’t know if I’ve slept at all.
Have you?
I’m really sorry, Captain. I thought the only way to stop this was to… stop you, stop all of this from happening in the first place. But it was me. It was me. All those mistakes, all those lifetimes, all the people. I guess I lost hope.
But you didn’t.
You never did.

hi! what was the criticism of racism for pina coladas? i see it on my timeline every now and then and would just like to avoid it if necessary
i was trying to find the posts i reblogged abt it and the only one i could find was this one, altho i couldve sworn there were more
anyway the BIG thing is that when ed and stede kiss, mary sees them and stede goes and comforts her and says that ed came onto him and he didnt want it, that he was committed to mary and their unborn child. basically, stede falsely accuses an indigenous man of sexual assault, and then immediately after that there’s like a 20 or 30 year time skip and then ALL the focus is on stede and stede’s feelings for a good chunk of the story. the false claim of sexual assault has as of yet not been appropriately addressed, in my opinion, and as the story goes on the more i expect that it wont ever be appropriately addressed.
also there are a lot of other smaller details throughout the fic that arent handled well. ive seen criticism of how the fic depicts SoCal in the 80’s (which i personally know nothing abt). there are also songs/playlists linked throughout the fic that are all extremely basic top 80’s/90’s/00’s hits that are almost entirely by white artists. little things, but they give the impression that the author is not very conscientious of race.
at the end of the day it’s just a mediocre fic with a race problem, which probably describes at least half the ofmd fics in existence, lmao (i would describe my own fic, which i published the first chapter of in april, as a mediocre fic with a race problem, lol). the reason THIS one gets so much criticism is bc of how this is one of the most popular fics in the fandom. there’s genuinely nothing special abt this fic, including the way race is poorly-handled.
