when you post a video on tiktok that saying “they had so much potential why do people have to be homophobic” and everyone assumes you’re talking about Supernatural but you’ve never watched an episode of Supernatural in your life and you were actually just crying over the potential that Finn and Poe from Star Wars had. 

I know it’s been almost 5 years since Force Awakens came out but I still can’t get over the amount of chemistry between them and they were done so dirty in the end.

The Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)

Consider;

So lets go from where Ben started to die

1. Rey starts to revive him the same way he did for her

2. He tries to stop her

3. Cool action scene where they struggle their way back to the top

4. They collapse at the top and you get a cool 'oh get medical help scene' (because those are always so great)

5. We have that nice 'yay we survived thing' that they actually had at the end

6. Ben walks in and everybody freaks out/claims he should be executed bc of his war crimes

7. We have a HTTYD3-esque ending in which Ben is exiled for his crimes, but he and Rey still see each other often

8. Also Finn and Poe finally get together in the ending, and Finn tells Poe whatever it is that he wanted to tell Rey when they were falling into the sand

OH BOY OKAY I HAVE M A N Y THOUGHTS WHERE TO BEGIN -

Like, I’m obviously a super trash blog for Reylo but my oh my do I live for some finnpoe!! I’m honestly so upset that they did them so dirty in tros. But also kinda not? Because I DO feel like we got some really amazing moments and after seeing it again for the second time today I really FELT like I was just watching an onscreen couple already.

Like. They totally act like they’re already in a relationship and have been for many many years?! The way they argue, the way they embrace, the way they openly and honestly express so much emotion to each other is just glorious

And I especially love how my sister pointed out something new to me. I was so wrapped up in ‘Poe is so gay for Finn’ and how it’s so obvious and I got so upset at Disney for adding all these ‘other’ love interests to try to ‘cover them up’ - but I didn’t even let myself believe that they could be bi? And I felt TERRIBLE for being a part of bi-eraser culture like that, but it’s totally possible for Poe to have an ex girlfriend and still be into men. It’s possible for Finn to have strong feelings for Rey and Joanna and Rose and still be romantically interested in a man.

I’m just a little upset that what we got was only a tiny hinging/glimpse of gays in space instead of full on GAYS in SPACE.

Edit: I’m also a LOT upset that we never got to have Finn and Poe react to Ben Solo!?! Can you imagine the incredibly strong ‘gay dad’ vibes they would pull on Rey? ‘This man isn’t good enough for you’ ‘but Finn, he did save her life and we have to thank for her being alive-’ ‘KYLO REN IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR MY DAUGHTER BACK OFF POE’ ‘DONT YOU DARE YELL AT ME STORM TROOPER’ ‘OH?! OH THIS ARGUMENT AGAIN?!?’ ‘guys... c’mon not in front of my new boyfriend...’

But these are just my musings. Who else has thoughts about this that they’d like to share??

you know what, I'm not a finnpoe shipper per se (but I could be if convinced with top quality fics LMAO), didn't get into that otp, but hell yeah I am ALWAYS loving all the John and Oscar posts and their support for this. can't belive it's for real!!! they're adorable and so protective of the ship

Oscar & John being ride or die with the FinnPoe ship is literally one of the few brights spots in this crazy world right now, and I will forever love them for it.

One of the main reasons i’m pissed at shitty fans slandering writers for not making their ship canon is because (in addition to it being digusting and wrong) its so disrespectful...to yourselves

Like You see the story for what it is. You know whats going where. you know disney isnt going to make Finn and Poe lovers, you know that Pharah and Mercy havent even seen each other in years and have no more interactions in game other than their usual “i’m going to support my teammates” yet you still get Disappointed.  Its like planting tomato seeds and being mad when hershey bars dont spring up.

but most of all its because yall are disrespecting your won writing.

“Official” canon lore is canon yes. It means “In the story written by the original person THIS is the way things are”. In the official trademarked story that is true. it is true that  Finn/poe isnt a thing its true that pharmercy isnt a thing.  In the Official canon

but you know what? official canon written by the main writers? its all made up. Its fake. its made up. they thought ‘hey what if this happened in the story” and it became canon cus they are the writers but they MADE IT UP

YOUR story is just as valid. your Version of events is just as valid. If a well known writer puts on Romeo and Juliet and decides to change things up people dont just call it fanfiction or say it doesnt count cus its not hte original. people say “what an interesting take on this story”

When you get mad just because this thing that you wanted to happen in the story didnt, you are saying “my ideas are worthless” and you are doing it just because the original writer didnt decide thats how it was in THEIR version of the story

The writing for Overwatch and Star Wars is good. I can see why people dont see it as poetic cinema but its telling the story the writers want to tell and it has alot of good things about it.

But its not GOD. if you want to tell your version of a story then go ahead, if you even just want to imagine it go ahead. Its all made up> its all fake. and so its all equally valid and canon. Your ship, your story IS canon It IS official because its YOUR version of the story. Just cus you dont have millions of dollars to make a movie or the time to write a book with this alternate version of events doesnt make it any less powerful or good.

So stop disrespecting your ideas , stop disrespecting yourself and stop worrying about what the Official canon is

(and while you are at it, if you HATE the official story stop filling the tags and fansites with your negativity. let other people have fun with it if they like it)
