she is everything to me
Amy March x Reader
Word Count: approx. 550
Summary: R is Laurie’s cousin and they’re in love with Amy.
“Oh, don’t tease, Laurie— I really have no idea what to do,” you frown, resting your head on your hands.
Your cousin stops laughing, knowing that you were struggling because of your affections towards Amy March.
“Do you think she feels the same way?” You ask, reminding him of a lovesick puppy.
Laurie chews on his bottom lip in thought for a moment before he sighs, “I don’t believe I would know better than you… but I think sometimes I catch her reciprocating the looks you give her.”
You suck in a breath and groan, “I just- I won’t be seeing her for such a long time after I leave to Europe and I have held this in for so long, I can’t bear to keep it to myself anymore.”
A smirk appears on your cousin’s face and your brows furrow, “What? Why do you have that face?”
He chuckles and stands, making his way towards the front door, “Come on, we’re late to meet the Marches.”
“Teddy, what was that about?” you call after him as he runs to the March’s house, leaving you to hurry after him.
You bump into Meg as soon as you walk in, and you can already hear Amy and Jo laughing loudly while Beth plays her piano, “Oh, Meg! I’m so sorry I had to miss your wedding, I heard it was gorgeous.”
She smiles, “It’s quite alright, Laurie told me about your last minute trip to visit your father- is everything alright?”
“Yes, he’s fine now-“
“Finally, you’re here!” Amy shouts as she runs towards you, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Amy!” you giggled, “it’s so good to see you.”
“I have the best news to tell you,” she squeals while grabbing your hands.
“What’s-“
“Aunt March is taking me to Europe!!” she exclaims, not able to contain her excitement enough to let you finish, “Isn’t this wonderful? Now we won’t have to be separated,” she squeezes your hands.
You pull her into a hug as the shock sets in and you catch Laurie smiling at you from the dining room.
“And- and you’ll be in Paris, too?” you stutter out hopefully.
“Yes! It’s like the universe couldn’t bear to see us separated,” Amy grins. Happiness looks beautiful on her. You’ve always thought so.
Your heart swells with so much love for the girl standing before you. However, before you get to revel in the fluttery warmth in your chest, you remember your plans to share your feelings with her.
You were so determined to do it because you knew you would have time away from her if it went poorly. You’d need time to heal if she rejected you.
That night, tears of frustration seep out of your eyes as you sit on the porch of your cousin’s mansion with him, “I can’t do it, Laurie. I couldn’t live with myself if she hated me.”
“Amy could never hate you,” he protests in a futile attempt to change your mind. “Imagine if it went well, hm? How amazing would that be? Is that not worth the risk to you?”
You shake your head, “No. Amy is everything to me. Nothing is worth losing her.”
“Excuse me,” you murmur as you go inside the house, needing to be alone.
