Just finished House MD (literally like. 30 seconds ago) and the ending couldn't be more perfect.

8 seasons, we have watched House be self-destructive and consciously choosing to be miserable, time and time again. The only point of life was to solve the puzzle. People didn't matter, happiness didn't matter. Life didn't matter. Everything causes pain and joy is temporary. That was the core message for 8 seasons.

But the finale changes that. The finale says 'yes, everything causes pain and joy is temporary. That is why you must embrace the joy when you can.' And that, THAT, is the true meaning of life. This show had demonstrated every negative quality human beings are capable of, every fucked up mentality, every possible outcome. Everything leads to pain and death. Which is why it is so important that it ended on the note that it did.

Everything causes pain and joy is temporary. So enjoy yourself.

this line made me lose my shit in the theater. It’s such a simple line, but it says so much about Splinter overcoming his own fears for the sake of his sons’ happiness. This movie in general just has so many themes like that, about creating your own family, overcoming difficulties to be able to find happiness, but this moment in particular just stuck out to me

It’s about letting go of your own prejudices and fears in order to support the people you love and subsequently learning how to see the good around you, not just the bad, because making sure the people you love are happy takes precedent over your own animosity towards a certain group.
