Fukuiraptor. . Fukuiraptor was a megaraptoran dinosaur from the Cretaceous of what is now Japan. It was originally thought to be a huge dromaeosaur (the same group that Velociraptor belongs to) because the oversized hand claw was mistaken to be the famous foot claw those dinosaurs had, hence the name. It has since been discovered that the claw was attached to a finger and not a toe and it had unusually large forearms for a theropod, likely so it could use this claw as a weapon. To date no complete megaraptor skeleton has been found, so hopefully future discoveries will shed more light on this little known but fascinating dinosaur group. . Normally when I post a dinosaur I just put the name and nothing else. Did you guys find the info interesting? Should I put info like this more often in future dino posts? Or are you just here for the art? And of course, if I’ve made a mistake or you have more info, please let me know in the comments! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #fukuiraptor #megaraptor #theropod #dinosaur #dinoart #dinoartist #dinosaurart #paleoart #dinoartwork #dinosaurartwork #prehistoric #prehistoricanimals #mesozoic #cretaceous #cretaceousperiod #animalart #illustration #cartoonstyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CnnKpaxKmK-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I've been introduced to Natsume's Book of Friends, a slice-of-life anime about humans interacting with the supernatural. It's very good. Here's the local emotional support animal who eats people, as Fukuipteryx (stylized to be very owl-like) and Fukuiraptor.
The irony is that he can't fly in his Fukuipteryx form, but can as Fukuiraptor.

Day 11: Fukuiraptor A Japanese basal Megaraptora is scratching his own bottom back jaw when he feels itchy. The megaraptoran integumentary is unknown and even it’s own family trace, so I speculated with filaments since this is closer to coelurosaurs than to carnosaurs, since the latter is place to Avetheropoda. #dinovember #dinovember2022 #paleoart #artistsoninstagram #myart #sketchbook #fukuiraptor #fukuiraptorkitadaniensis #megaraptora #megaraptoran #avetheropoda #theropoda #dinosauria #dinosaur https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck1SI92vVft/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

i call this 'Taiko Dino Master'
also im gonna explain the reason i chose the species of each character below the "keep reading" thing i forgot what its called
Donkylosaurus and Katsukylosaurus: i thought they could use their tail clubs as their drumsticks
Currycutta Dondy the Pradhania: pradhanias are yellow and come from india, like dondy. also the image on wikipedia looks like a taiko character so yeah
Yomogimaru the Fukuiraptor: like dondy, fukuiraptors are green and come from japan like yomogimaru
Master Brachio: bad pun. add an r to bachio and you get brachio
Hana Takahashi and Tetsuo Wada the Archaeopteryxes: i guess since archeopteryxes were more modern shifting into modern bird territory i chose that
so tell me what you think

I realized too late that I may have made this a wee bit lopsided. I formally apologize for putting all Alvarezsaurs in one and all Therizinosaurs in another. They deserve to be split up like Ornithomimosaurs and Tyrannosaurs are and I apologize :(
I'd be pissed I have to do another non-avian theropod bracket, but let's face it, dromaeosaurs against tyrannosaurs would have been a mistake

Note
Do Sues et al. compare Ulughbegsaurus to megaraptorans since it grouped with them in Carrano et al.’s matrix & at least Fukuiraptor has dromaeosaurid-like cranial characters?
They don’t mention megaraptorans.

A Fukuiraptor appears out of thin air and bites off one of Narumi’s arms (She automatically regrows it back after 24 hours because plot says so)

Fukui has developed a unique image for itself as the “Dinosaur Kingdom” due to its strong affiliation with dinosaurs. It all started in 1982, when a crocodile fossil from the Early Cretaceous era was found in Katsuyama City, leading to subsequent investigations held by the Fukui Prefectural Museum (now the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum) in 1988. These proved fruitful, and acted as the catalyst for Fukui Prefecture’s Dinosaur Fossil Excavation Survey Project, which was started in 1989 and has unearthed multiple fossils of various dinosaurs’ teeth, bones, and even footprints! Paleontologists and scientists even uncovered three dinosaur species exclusive to the region and named them after Fukui: the Fukuisaurus, Fukuiraptor, and Fukuititan, thus further enhancing Fukui’s interest and fascination with dinosaurs! Today, Katsuyama City has Japan’s largest excavation site, with professionals striving to achieve more dinosaur fossil discoveries. Its reputation is unparalleled, as the entire city was recognized as part of the Dinosaur Valley Fukui Katsuyama Geopark by UNESCO in October 2009. This is why locals and foreigners alike consider Fukui the land of dinosaurs in Japan and eagerly make their way there to explore the many dinosaur-themed attractions. Here are some of the best places to get up and close with these ancient creatures! https://www.tsunagujapan.com/fukui-prefecture-dinosaur-kingdom-of-japan/?fbclid=IwAR3WjSsyxJ-ekBtbCtaFbyjrF_Tl4qiMWyPC-ALlxLvJf5pOH9yovBEcMDE&mibextid=q5o4bk#ldfm2fsygksllmuap6 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn8zU04OsYu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
