Idk there's just something good-different about the culture with rare pairs (tbh with fandom and "shipping" in general, it's so toxic now instead of accepting) when they're actually rare. i just finished strange world and i dont think ive ever felt less watching a disney movie. i hesitate to call it boring or bad because i like the concepts presented about leaving a legacy, being afraid of turning into ur parent/s, and the sci-fi stuff was neat (i like the funky creature designs (i was like oh splat looks like an ameoba thats cute and that actually Meant something lol) and the fact they were speeding around inside of a gigantic creatures body, magic schoolbus style, thats very adventure serial to me)

but like. something about all those elements at the same time, and the way they were presented in an hour45. yeah actually i change my mind it WAS boring. everything was presented in the most boring way, the story was structured in the most boring way, every action scene stopped the movie dead and every character/story scene was boring because i figured out what everyone was gonna say or do or how theyd react to stuff before the movie did

i think the premise mightve worked better as a series tbh. actually it already DID work better as a series, its called the venture bros LOLOL soooo many of the themes about legacy, family, expectation, etc are present and done at least more interesting in venture bros, while still riffing on the adventure serial style AND so many other styles (scooby doo, superheroes, take ur pick). say what u want about the venture bros being problematic but u CANNOT accuse it of being boring

theres also more than one gay character in venture bros that positively effects the plot and are, while secondary characters, still important to the story, sooooooo 🤷
