I'M BACK BITCHES!!!!! With fluff this time!
Also, I think Star is just an OC at this point so this isn't a y/n fic anymore lmao.

Moon had only been outside for a total of five seconds before his head started to hurt. He stayed outside for another five seconds before it got so bad that he had to turn around and go back inside.
Star looked at him concerned. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Moon pointed to the general outdoors. “The light.”
Star rushed back to his side with Sun on their heels. “Shoot.” They said. “I’m so sorry, I completely forgot about that.”
Sun grabbed Moon's hands. “Are you ok?” He fretted.
Moon nodded. “I'm ok Sun.” He turned to Star. “Is there a way to fix this?” He gestured to himself.
Star tilted their head. “I mean probably. It's just the light sensitivity right?”
Moon nodded again. “Yeah, it's really high for no reason.”
Star hummed. “Ok, I think I can fix that.” Star stepped past Moon into the house, gesturing for him to follow.
They led him to their room and grabbed their laptop from their desk.
Moon stayed by the door for a moment, not going in until Sun gently pushed him over the threshold. He felt bad now, for disobeying Star. Not that he wouldn’t have done it again had he been given a chance. But it was enough that being in the room was just a little bit painful.
Star waved him over, apparently unbeknownst to his troubles.
He walked over and Star held out their hands, a silent request to pick him up.
He nodded and they put their hands around his waist and lifted him onto the bed. He shook his head. He still didn’t like that. He couldn’t wait to get back to the plex so he could be tall again.
Star knocked on his head. “You ready for a lobotomy Moonpie?”
Moon made an inhuman sound. “Please don’t call it that.”
Star smirked. “I do what I want. Now turn around.”
Moon sighed and did so. He heard Star fumbling for the connection cable behind him for a moment before they pulled his hat off. “Gonna plug you in now.” They warned.
They waited for him to nod before actually plugging him in.
The name of the computer he was connected to appeared in the corner of his vision immediately and soon enough he got an alert that Star had started a diagnostic.
He let it run already knowing that nothing would come up. But Star was required to run a diagnostic in order to mess with his systems.
As soon as it finished he got another alert, this one asking him if he wanted to allow the computer to make changes to his settings.
He approved it and soon felt Star rooting around in his settings. It felt kind of like when Sun was in his head.
Star let out a gasp when they found the light sensitivity. “Nine! Why is it at nine?! No wonder you couldn't go outside.” They quickly changed the number and Moon got an alert about that too.
He hadn't noticed until it was gone but even the indoor light had been extremely bright just seconds ago. He smiled when everything returned to normal.
Star unplugged him from the computer and handed his hat back to him. “Lobotomy completed!” They announced.
Moon groaned and covered his face with his recently returned hat. “Why?” He complained, falling back on the bed dramatically.
Star giggled. “Sorry not sorry. Now come on you big baby we still have to go to the store.”
Moon sat back up. “Oh yeah.” He dropped to the floor and walked over to the door before looking back at Star. “You coming?”
Star looked up from where they were putting away their computer. “Yeah, don’t worry.” They haphazardly shoved their computer into a drawer in their desk before grabbing their bag and walking back to the front door. Moon and Sun followed.
Moon braced for pain as he stepped out the door and into the sunlight. He smiled when nothing happened and turned to Star. "It worked!" He cheered.
Star smiled. "Was there ever any doubt?"
Moom hummed. "Well..."
"Hey!" Star gasped dramatically. "I know what I'm doing. I bet I'm better than all the other techs at the pizzaplex combined."
Moon laughed. "Keep telling yourself that." He teased, already making his way to the car. He pulled on the handle but it was locked. He turned around to tell Star to unlock it and found that Sun was whispering something to them. Sun pointed to Moon and they both started giggling.
Moon crossed his arms. "Hey, no conspiring against me!" He yelled, but he was smiling.
Star rolled their eyes and came over to unlock and open the door so Moon could climb in and pull Sun up after him. Once the boys were settled Star started the car and backed out of the driveway.
As soon as they started moving Sun practically glued his face to the window, still in awe over all the new sights. And Moon, since he didn't have an incapacitating headache this time, joined him.
Moon felt a little out of place as he looked out at the streets. There were so many people, and cars, and signs, and buildings, and lights, and well he could go on forever. And it would all be okay if it wasn't for the fact that everything was so new. He had known how everything worked in the plex. Heck, he was in charge of some of it. But he didn't know anything here. He'd have to rely on his Star to tell him how to do almost everything.
Star stopped at a light and he watched as a mother helped her daughter hit the button for the crosswalk. The kid was giggling the entire time. She noticed him then and pointed him out to her mom before giving him a friendly wave. Moon smiled. Maybe it wasn't all bad, he thought as he waved back.
The light turned green and Star left the small family behind. They pulled into the store parking lot and turned to face the boys. "Okay guys, I'm here for a reason and I know Sun is gonna get distracted by the first thing he sees so he can sit in the cart. Moon, I trust you to stay close but if you go wandering off I'm putting you in the cart too ok?"
Moon huffed. "I'll be safe." Like he was ever going to leave Star when he was in the middle of a new, crowded place. He'll stick with what's familiar, thank you very much.
Star nodded and opened the door so the boys could climb out. "Here hold my hands, we're in the parking lot," they said, almost on instinct. Sun and Moon, however, grabbed their hands without complaint and they all walked to the front together.
When they got there Star let go of their hands to grab a cart and put Sun in the basket. They didn't offer their hand back to Moon so he grabbed the hem of their shirt instead. Star looked down at Moon surprised. Moon looked away. He just didn't want to get separated okay. He was relieved when Star didn't say anything about it.
As soon as Star crossed the threshold into the store Sun stood up and leaned over the front of the cart. "There's so many things!" He said excitedly.
Star shook their head, laughing before grabbing his arm and pulling him back down to a seated position. Sun didn't seem to mind, still looking at everything around him in wonder and excitement.
Moon looked around as well. Sun was right about there being a lot of things. Shelves and shelves of things in fact. He couldn't even see the other side of the store from here. It didn't make him excited though. Only wary, and a little bit overwhelmed. He clutched the hem of Star's shirt tighter.
"Okay guys," Star started. "I have a list of stuff we need. You guys tell me if you see any of it." Both boys nodded and Star started listing things. "We need eggs, milk, pasta, tuna, chicken, alfredo, and you can each pick out a candy for yourselves. can you remember all that?"
Moon laughed. "We're robots." He reminded them.
Star smacked their forehead with a palm. "Oh right, duh, silly me!" They said with a smile.
Sun giggled at them before pointing in a seemingly random direction. "We should go to the cold section first!" He said excitedly.
Star hummed. "I usually do the cold stuff last, but you know what? Sure! To the cold section, we go!" They declared. They pushed the cart through the cold section while Sun pointed out some of the things they had listed, along with anything else that caught his eyes. Star didn't get any of that but Sun was having fun so they let him be.
They were just about to leave the cold section when a little girl ran up to them.
"I like your robots miss!" she said to Star. "I never seen kid ones!" She reached toward Moon and he pulled away.
"let's keep our hands to ourselves little star." He said. He wasn't mad at the little girl. She couldn't have been older than seven or eight. She probably just didn't understand boundaries yet.
"Sorry." She apologized sheepishly. "I was just curious. My mommy says I'm a little too curious." She scuffed her shoe on the ground for a moment before smiling again. "My name's Shira! what's yours?"
Moon smiled. "I'm Moon." He said, offering her his hand.
Sun, who had been watching the entire interaction with interest, leaned over the side of the cart. "I'm Sun!" He said. "I like your name."
Shira smiled. "Thank you." She took Moon's offered hand and shook it. But she didn't let go afterward, instead turning it over and fiddling with it for a second before remembering herself and quickly letting go. "Sorry." She said again.
Moon laughed. "It's ok, a little curiosity never hurt anyone.
Shira looked down. "Thanks."
At that moment a young woman ran over. “There you are!” She said to Shira, letting out a sigh of relief. “What have I told you about wandering off?”
Shira apologized again before saying. “But Mommy, I found robots! Alive ones!”
Her mother laughed. “That's silly, robots can't be alive. They're just machines.”
Moon scowled. He wasn't unused to people treating them as objects, but that didn't mean he had to like it. Still, he didn't say anything.
Shira’s mother turned to Star. “Sorry for any trouble she might have caused.” She said.
Star smiled. “Oh, she was no trouble at all. She's a delightful little girl. Does she take after her father?”
Shira’s mother blinked. “Yes actually, he's always been fascinated with robots. He even thinks they could be sentient, can you believe that?”
Star shrugged. “Maybe I agree with him.”
The mother huffed and grabbed Shira’s hand. “Let's go. We wouldn't want to take up any more of their time would we?” She walked away briskly, dragging Shira behind her.
“Goodbye Sun and Moon and Nice Lady!” Shira yelled as she disappeared around the corner.
Once they were gone Star rolled their eyes. “I cannot believe that woman!” They tsked. They took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “It's fine, I'm fine, I'm not mad.” They said, mostly to themself. They looked up and smiled at the boys. “Ok! What else do we need?” They asked as if they hadn't just had a mini mental breakdown.
Sun spoke up. “We still need pasta, tuna, and Alfredo! Oh, and candy!” He smiled.
Star nodded as Sun pointed out the aisles they needed to go to. They saved the candy for last.
When they finally made it to the candy aisle Star locked eyes with Sun. "I'm gonna let you out now. You can get one(1) candy. Please try not to make a mess or anything." they paused. "you know what, just don't touch anything other than the thing you're getting, alright?"
Sun nodded and Star picked him up and set him on the floor before turning to Moon who was still holding tightly to their shirt. "You can go pick something too ya'know." They said gently.
Moon nodded slowly. He'd been so focused on Sun that he'd forgotten he was allowed to get something. He let go of Star's shirt and walked over to the nearest shelf, looking at all the options. Nothing caught his eyes until he saw a white and blue box. The picture on the outside was of a little chocolate-covered cookie with marshmallow in the middle. The label on the box said "Moonpies" Moon smiled and grabbed the box before running back to Star to show them.
As soon as Star realized what he had gotten they started giggling.
Moon looked at them confused. "What?"
Star smiled at him and shook the box. "Moonpies? Really?"
Moon shrugged. "What's wrong with that?"
Star shook their head. "Nothing, it's perfect."
Moon smiled and then gasped as Sun came up and hugged him from behind. He held a brightly colored package of M&Ms in front of Moon's face. Moon grabbed it and inspected it. "Good choice." He said before leaning his head back to bonk Sun in the nose.
Sun jumped back surprised. "Hey!" He complained, putting his hands over his face.
Moon giggled. "I didn't hit you that hard."
Sun grimaced. "You want me to do that to you? Come here." He said, playfully reaching for his brother.
Star stepped between them. "Hey, no roughhousing in the store." They said, crossing their arms.
Both boys looked down. "Sorry." They said in unison.
Star smiled. "It's ok." They said, taking the M&M's from Moon and putting them in the cart with everything else. "You guys can playfight as much as you want when we get home. Ok?"
Sun nodded and turned to Moon. "When we get home I'm gonna get you!" He teased.
Moon stuck out his tongue. "You can try." He boasted.
Star laughed. "Com'on we still have to pay for all this." They put Sun back in the basket and Moon grabbed their shirt again. together they all made their way to the self checkout where Star let them scan their respective treats.
Star gathered all the groceries and let Sun hold their hand on the way to the car.
