the fucking isolation sally jackson must've felt when she was trying to pry her demigod child who physically cannot drown from the edge of a pool bc he's afraid to learn to swim. it is such a comedically stupid situation but she cant complain about it to a single mortal soul.

ugh I reallllyyyyy didn’t want to get in on this but like
The assumption that all atheists are people who’ve “never touched a religious text in their life” basically says to me you have a specific view of atheists and have probably not known many.
Most of them grew up IN the system and DO know the text and THAT’S why they walk away.
If you’re gonna make a whole post on ppl not using nuance with CR stuff right now the least you can do is use nuance yourself and not paint an entire group of people with a brush that TV taught you, or a bunch of white men into power *cough* Dawkins *cough* coopted a movement in a society where to not believe in god is synonymous with being immoral.
So just keep in mind, the representation of people without faith that you see on TV or twitter isn’t the majority and 9 times out of 10 isn’t correct at all.
thanks ^_^

The Star Market
Marie Howe
The people Jesus loved were shopping at the Star Market yesterday.
An old lead-colored man standing next to me at the checkout
breathed so heavily I had to step back a few steps.
Even after his bags were packed he still stood, breathing hard and
hawking into his hand. The feeble, the lame, I could hardly look at them:
shuffling through the aisles, they smelled of decay, as if the Star Market
had declared a day off for the able-bodied, and I had wandered in
with the rest of them—sour milk, bad meat—
looking for cereal and spring water.
Jesus must have been a saint, I said to myself, looking for my lost car
in the parking lot later, stumbling among the people who would have
been lowered into rooms by ropes, who would have crept
out of caves or crawled from the corners of public baths on their hands
and knees begging for mercy.
If I touch only the hem of his garment, one woman thought,
could I bear the look on his face when he wheels around?

I guess I can't really get behind cas saving dean from hell as a destiel win, or lines like 'you don't think you deserve to be saved', because. this is not a point at which cas is doing because he believes dean is good and loves him or anything but. he saves dean because that's heaven's will. when he reminds dean that cas, and heaven, are who saved him in early s4, it's not him really saying 'you're a good man', it's a debt that he is using, pretty explicitly, to get dean to do what heaven wants. even the handprint reads like... ownership, in a way.
cas is complicit in heaven's manipulation of dean after he's pulled out of hell. that's what makes his rebellion later powerful, because this is an angel who believes in heaven so strongly that he will look into the eyes of the righteous man he saved and tell him that if he doesn't do what he's told, he will throw dean back into hell.

Just for the record, the Cayde drama started because I made a post explaining how the final Nightmare in Season of the Haunted won't be Cayde because many people started speculating how it might be Cayde.
And I just made a post explaining how we already know it's Ghaul and how this has been known since the season started and since we've seen the story cutscene. Hell, it's on seasonal art poster. It was very strange to see several posts discussing and speculating about the final Nightmare when the final Nightmare has been known to us since day 1 of the season. Totally fine to not know if you don't play the game btw, obviously if you're not playing and aren't watching video recaps, you can't know. I'm happy to fill people in if needed.
Like, I want to reiterate that the drama started because I explained basic seasonal storytelling to people. No wonder so many have no clue what the narrative point of Forsaken was.
Also for another record, not a single dead character is being treated the way Cayde is. None of them still get the same amount of merchandise (or merch at all) or in-game mentions long after their death.
All mentions of Cayde on Ishtar. He has 94 mentions after his death (omitted one from WQ which seems to be a mistaken attribution). In every single season and expansion. 648 total mentions. The other two living members of the Vanguard and de facto main characters, Ikora and Zavala, have not yet reached double that despite being alive and active for twice the time Cayde has been. Ikora has 950 and Zavala 1025. Osiris, a character that's far more important than Cayde and also still alive has 693, barely surpassing Cayde who has been dead for 4 years. Eris, far more important and still alive also barely surpasses a character who's been dead for 4 years with 787.
So for all the claims about Bungie erasing him: get a grip. They really shouldn't be encouraging it anymore tbh, but they've been consistent in telling us that he is dead and there are no secret schemes and plotlines about bringing him back. That much is clear from the plethora of mentions he's getting every single season and expansion. Bungie is trying to be nice and still provide content about a character that's far less relevant now than many other characters. Appreciate it because most other fans aren't getting a fraction of this.

Well! Well. I shut off Oblivion. I went to annoy Lev in the astral. He has a body chilling on my bed reading something or playing with something or. whatever. Anyway. So I start making Poses at him again because something in my goddamn biology needs to fucking do weird ass bird mating dances at him at every given opportunity. My bed is right beside my desk, head of the bed and back of the desk are in a line. Im sitting at my desk physically. I'm like oh. Sudden strong spirit presence beside me! Said hi to Lev guessing he got up to watch over my shoulder because I closed oblivion and he was asking me about it (so he probably came to look) and then was like. Oh that's not you is it. Because. That's where my astral body is.
Yeah no that was me. Because I could turn around and look through planes into my faces.
It's not the first time I've had a strong presence in the astral! I do that every once in a blue moon. I've dropped the temperature and brightness of rooms before, the spirits possessing my body have felt me before in the way I feel them but
I. don't talk about this because I don't agree p shifting is a thing but this is dangerously close to p shifting type beliefs, but in my and my groups experience spirits can actually physically come here. All planes are connected, it's not about a Veil but about a huge magnetic gap between this plane and the others and it's huge polarisation that means you need a fuck tonne of energy to translate yourself into a body on this plane And to get back out of it so it tends it really just be gods coming here and generally as shit like animals so they don't get Spotted. Generally. I don't care if anyone believes me I don't talk about it for others - uh. double meaning there. I'm not talking about it for others now, and usually I never mention it for others' sakes. This is not about others
But I was thinking that. I get thoughts crossing my mind especially lately about "well if I had a fuck tonne of energy, could I be here in two bodies...." in the way of the theory of it. trying to understand more about how this plane works and whatnot. this.
This was the first time. looking at myself through planes. Where I was like. I have two bodies in the same universe. both real. both exist. both are me. This is not some abstract "I exist and then the astral is some foreign place" I was in another body as real as this one on the fucking other side of the veil and I felt myself there. Like I've felt myself in the astral before, but now I'm like. spirits are not vague fucking things. I know they're real i Know the theory but I never let myself KNOW the theory
