okay no but i want an echo and ahsoka reunion so badly. it’s been years of war and tragedy since they’ve last seen each other but it would be a reminder - to both of them - that rex is not the only surviving friend they have from the old days in the 501st. just look at it from echo’s perspective. the 501st had completely changed by the time he came back from skako minor. they’d lived through so many hellish missions without him. umbara, kiros, ringo vinda, fives. he never put the handprint back on his armour after the citadel. do you ever think about that? how he survived against all odds to come back to the news that the only surviving batchmate who was there to witness the habit that earned him his name, was dead.
When Rex put that handprint on his armour on the Rishi moon, it’s when he told Echo he was a shiny. He kept it there, painting it on, as a reminder of the mission that made him a soldier - a reminder that he wasn’t a shiny anymore, a reminder of Cutup, Hevy and Droidbait, his fallen batchmates. After the citadel, after fives, when he gets his new armour, he hovers his hand over the chest plate and he just can’t do it. Everything is gone. He’s not that man anymore. SO many of his brothers are dead, and when he joins the bad batch, leaving Rex, there’s no one around to notice the handprint is missing, not really, So he leaves it off, he lets that part of him die with his fallen brothers.
I can imagine Ahsoka, particularly in her younger years, would entertain herself on long hyperspace flights or camp-outs by asking the clones why they chose their name. She wasn’t there, she isn’t one of the people who picked it out. By the time Echo was assigned to the 501st, he’d dropped the habit. But he told her about it, because she was small and scared and bored and kind and a friend. As a young padawan, Ahsoka relied on her men to help her navigate the parts of war her jedi training left her unprepared to face, and after he told her the story, she’d always get Echo to repeat the next stage of orders to her to keep her mind focused on the mission.
When they reunite after order 66, it’s almost hard for him to tell whether she’s just playing dumb to keep her cover intact or if she genuinely doesn’t remember him. He hasn’t seen her since the citadel, after all, and...he does look pretty different. He’s not sure if she recognises him. She does, of course. When she inevitably reveals her jedi nature to the rest of the crew, and they dive head-first into some crusade against the empire together, it feels just like old times. They both thought they’d lost this, but it’s still here, surviving. She asks him to repeat the orders to her, keep track of the stages of the plan just like he used to. He confesses he almost thought she didn’t recognise him, and she’s practically offended at the thought. But she senses the insecurity, the grief, the loss, behind it. She jokes around with him, to ease the burden. They’re both knee-deep in some foul-smelling staining spillage leaking out from the ruined hardware around them. So she smiles and says well, how could you expect anyone to recognise you, and she dips her hand in the sludge and puts it to his chest...without the handprint. And he can’t help but laugh.
Because there is someone left to remember the handprint is missing. There is someone who recognises him, other than Rex, someone who knows why he chose his name. Most importantly, someone who survived because of Fives’ sacrifice.
And it’s not a reminder of loss anymore. It’s a statement that he’s known. That he is remembered. Whatever else he lost after the Citadel, however different he may be, physically, spiritually, emotionally, there is an imprint of everything that survived, still there, carried on his chest, in his heart. An imprint of everything that survived, of everyone who carried the fight this far, a promise of those who keep up the fight.
A reminder that he is known, that he is remembered - and that he, too, remembers.

Forgive Me (Echo x Fem! Medic Reader) Part 1
Tumblr media
Synopsis: The Republic’s decision to hire natural born medics + A certain rookie joining the 501st Legion = Another love(ish) story in a galaxy far far away ...
Warning: None (Although not proof read) Words: 1.1K  Era: Clone Wars/Bad Batch Note: I will make a masterlist for this when I upload part 2
The Rishi Station was always lacking in the entertainment department. The dull mental walls were nothing out of the ordinary, nor was the landscape outside the station anything to write home about. Being forbidden to go outside never really helped, the dangerous and normally hungry Rishi Eels always on the hunt for something to eat. So the rookie troopers and Sergeant O'Niner normally had to find things to entertain themselves. Some of them counted the time being the ships coming and going, others told stories of their cadet days. For the Domino Squad things were no different. O'Niner would walk the corridors and inspect barracks at a moments notice, where as Droidbait often walked the landing pad, if only to escape the prison the base had become.
Fives and Hevy could often be found listening to the something via the Holonet, whilst entering into an arm wrestling tournament. Echo on the other hand took the quiet days to read reg manuals or anything else he could get his hands on. While Cutup could often be found randomly cleaning weapons, doing inventory or messing about with the Gonk Droids keeping them company at the base. The few times the Rookie squad had attempted to pull a few pranks, O'Niner had caught on and shut the ideas down quickly, stating their role on the base was important, even if it was often quiet and well boring.
"The sooner we leave this place the better" once again muttered Hevy, his feet up on one of the many control panels. As always nothing was going on outside, neither of them had seen a ship in hours. He soon began to think of all the ruthless training each had been put through as cadets, the obstacles they had to overcome in order to graduate. Each of them had been prepared for the cruel battlefield, the endless threat of danger and the weight that would be put on their shoulders. Rishi Station was anything but the battlefield expected. The only danger were the eels outside and the threat of being bored to tears and possible death.
"Think of something else. Like a night out at 79's if we ever get to Coruscant" commented Cutup, hearing the familiar gonk sound coming from behind him. The droid once again following him, as if a lost pet looking for its owner. "We've all heard stories of the place. The loud music, dancing, drinking, everyone having a good time" added the rookie, stopping the moment he opened his eyes and remembered they were currently stationed at the one place fun didn't seem to exist. Fives soon looked over to Echo, then to Hevy, clearly something passing through his thoughts, although he didn't voice them.
"I heard the republic were hiring natural born's to help the medics" voiced Droidbait, as he returned from another stroll across the landing pad. Like always nothing interesting going on out there, no ships to speak of. Just the normal sight of Kamino in the distance and a few stars twinkling above. The only movement being the eels looking for something to chow down on. Droidbait soon removed his helmet, taking notice of his brothers attention turning to him quickly. His words clearly being news to them, or at least of interest. But then again hearing the familiar gonk could be interesting at times too.
"Can they send one here?" exclaimed Hevy, boredom ringing in his voice, as he won another round of arm wrestling against Fives. The only thing they wagered was whom had to check the screen when the time came. If they bet anything at all. "Made whomever they send could lighten things up around here" added the bored clone. In his mind anything was better than being there. The quietness was driving him insane, even the cadet training was far more interesting to remember than being at the station was.
"Or be bored to tears as quick as we were" announced Fives, although the idea of a medic being stationed with them was something that brought a bit of mischief to him and likely Hevy. Being on the station wasn't something he'd wish on his fellow clone brothers, let alone anyone else. "Who'd wanna be stuck here of all places, nothing ever happens, unless you count Cutup being stalked by the Gonk Droids" added the prankster, his smirk returning moments later upon remembering some of the rule breaking days on Kamino.
"That's not true. We've got the voices in the empty corridors late at night" stated Echo, chuckling when the others stopped what they'd been doing and turned their attention to him. Even Droidbait looked confused, where as Cutup shook his head in disbelief or acceptance. Fives eyed him carefully, as if trying to determine if his words were a joke or not.
"You sure it wasn't O'Niner talking in his sleep again?" asked Droidbait, debating whether to take Echo's words seriously, all while waiting to see what Fives reaction was. It wasn't any secret Fives and Echo were the two most likely to pull pranks. Even if Echo did stick to the rules, well most of the time.
"That's loud snoring doofus" responded Cutup, although he wouldn't say it out loud. He could have sworn he'd heard voices down the vacant halls before. At first he thought it was one of the Gonk droids but soon thought otherwise upon determining the voices were more like a whisper than a single mechanically repeated word.
"Did the voices say they are dying of boredom?" sarcastically asked Hevy, quickly taking his feet on the panel upon noticing O'Niner enter the area. Each of them saluted their sergeant. The commanding officer likely delivering the reports on his daily inspection of weapons and barracks, as well as the mandatory armor maintenance. O'Niner didn't say anything as he inspected each of them, not even when he noticed the dust on Droidbait's helmet and armor. Instead he simply nodded and left the area again, a hint of a smile on his lips when catching the Gonk droids edging closer to Cutup again.
"No, they just mentioned how in love with you they are" retorted Fives, picking the conversation up where they left it. Simply adding his own playful comment to it, before looking to the screen close by, once again checking the terrain for any sign of movement or anything that would bring life to the station, besides the normal supply ship.
"Very funny Fives" commented Hevy, slapping the younger clone on the back of the shoulder, in an equally playful way. A shadow of a smirk appearing on his lips, as his focus returned to Echo, whom was once again lost. Although not in the reg manuals he'd been reading lately, but rather his own thoughts. Although it was anyone's guess what had gripped his rookie mind this time, maybe it was his future aspirations of becoming an Arc Trooper, or new ideas of causing havoc on the otherwise dull moon, likely with Fives's assistance. There was the off chance something else entirely had gripped Echo, perhaps even Droidbait's words of the republic hiring natural born medics had caught his attention.

I have 3 questions about the eel side of the moon au. 1st question, what does were-eel Fives eat? 2nd question, was only the first transformation painful or are all of them painful? 3rd question, does the 501s know about Fives's secret eel curse?
What does Were-eel Fives eat?
The diet of a rishi eel seems to be fairly opportunistic (in canon they didn't seem to hesitate to attack and devour clones whole, despite them obviously not being their natural prey). The only other creature native to the Rishi Moon that might potentially be on the menu seem to be neebray, so I assume that they will eat anything that's available. Likely even other rishi eels.
Were-eel Fives is no exception. Anything that will fit into his mouth and down his throat is basically food. Especially if it moves.
That means that during periods where he's transformed he needs to be kept indoors at all times (if the current location he's based at is heavily populated), or somewhere where he has ample access to prey animals and no people.
Even in human form he seems to heavily prefer meats of all kinds, plus fish and muscles. He's quite partial to crab and molluscs specifically.
Are all of the transformations painful, or just the first one?
All of them are painful.
Fives is basically turning into a 25 foot monster with a split jaw, 10 eyes, a long snake-like tail and thick carapace. It's never going to get easier for him, and the transformation is so grueling that on the day of the full moon itself he feels absolutely awful through out the entire day.
Transforming back also leaves him incredibly exhausted. It burns so much energy that he's basically listless for a couple of days until he's recovered enough to get back up again.
It's important to keep him hydrated and well fed on both the day of the transformation and the subsequent recovery days.
Does the 501s know about Fives's curse?
No.
Domino Squad opted to conceal the whole thing from everyone for fear the GAR might either send Fives off to Kamino to be dissected, or worse, that the GAR might try to imprison him to try to weaponize the curse itself.
The thought of Fives wasting away in a cage only to be tossed out every full moon to act as a mindless weapon was one that kept Hevy, Cutup, Droidbait and Echo awake at night a lot...
That said, the 501st finds out about the curse eventually. It's just not in a very pleasant way.

S3.E1 Clone Cadets
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot of Shaak Ti standing amidst battalions of graduated clone troopers as they ship out from Kamino. End ID.]
Our first clone centric ep!!!! Hoooo boy Domino Squad..... god I love these vod. A very heartfelt episode that emphasizes that the clones are different people, and that fighting as a group isn’t something that comes naturally, but must be chosen. The training insight is very interesting, and the side characters are intriguing, even though it sure does showcase some shit treatment of the clones, especially 99, even from his brothers :/. I love how the names are shown in this episode, and how much that speaks to them all as people. Fives has had his name from the first moment on screen, Echo is given his at first as a jab before owning it, Hevy is given his from 99 in a moment of incredible kindness and love, and Cutup takes his out of the mouth of a man degrading him. Each one of those moments is so unique and cool and ghlkdghldgj “TO ME, YOU’VE ALWAYS HAD A NAME”. god. I LOVE clone names and the way they make identities for themselves, even against the unbelievable odds in front of them. christ.
It is also, of course incredibly sad how this all ends up playing out, and watching it in retrospect while knowing what happens... knowing that only two survive to be ARC’s, knowing what happens to Fives and then Echo..... especially given how much “following orders” is brought up in this ep,,,,,, hrngh suffering :(
Personalized star ratings (each star awarded represents something I value in TCW): 8/10!
★ - Good flow of plot, engaging storyline without choppy movement
☆ - Compelling characters, and interesting, realistic development!!!
✰ - Consistency; no fuckups in the plot or details (lol)
✧ - Pathos; emotional episode with either heartwarming or heartbreaking content; successfully forces the watcher to think about and experience the character's emotions
✫ - Decency; treating nonhumans, women, characters of color, and/or sensitive subjects with respect, decency, and morals. (The clones are mistreated in this ep, but the ep focuses on their value transcending beyond supervisor violence. They’re still respected as people by the narrative, for now at least.)
✯- Humor! The humor and jokes all work, and are actually funny (YOU’VE NEVER MET A GIRL JOKE OF ALL TIME)
⍟ - Symbolism or foreshadowing
☽ - Rishi Eel Award; passes the Clone Bechdel test!

Watching clone wars episode 5 cause I don't want to my math review :
OoOo who's this new fellow on this new planet
1st off: woah they have radio stations
2nd off: something bads about t- nononnono
I have a bad about feeling this
"They can surprise attack the facilities we where born in on kamino" .... Why in the love of God would ypu pull that out so long
OBI-WAN✨️✨️
That is by far the worst alarm I have ever heard and that is including my plastic watch I bought from Walmart for a campout that the week after I got it it broke and only manged to wake me up once
I'm liking this Hevy guy
One of these meteors is not like the other
Are those like, stealth droids?
Noooooo he's dead 😢
I'm no expert but shouldn't those wires be harder to take out?
Why and how is Ventress on Kamino, I don't like what this implying
Random thought: Ventress's master is Grevius, and Grevius master is Count Doku, and if Count Duku's Master is Palpatine, where does Maul fit into this
THE DROIDS CAN CHANGE THEIR VOICES?!? Is that something for only that model or can any old clacker do it?
So do doids just naturally say "Roger Roger"?
These 2 fellows seem to know each other well
"ThE ReG MaNuAL SaYs-"
I just heard a clone say 'hell' and quite literally made the stunded Pickatu face
The guy with the goggles is also gaining my liking
Who's Cutup?
OMG THAT WAS CODY AND REX IN THE SHIP DAM IM DUMB
Wait now can't stop laughing at the fact Cody and Rex have to do inspections
Oh don't start mister "I have a bad feeling about this"
Nice shoot
Noooo the ship, how will they leave this terrible place
Not gonna lie, expected it to take a little more for the worm thing to go down
Omg he said the thing I said
Obi-wan - Ankin banter moments are highlights
"This is never gonna work"
Works
Rex really only said Roger Roger for that whole thing
Omg they said hell again
The droids flich whenever General Grevius moves this hand towards them
Fives has now also gotten my liking
Wait wait wait, do they use mini explosion to heat the base??? And if it's that cold how where they able to go outside
"Big gun doesn't make a big man"
"You didn't say please" God I love these 3
Well fuck
Nice one liner though
And that concludes an actually good sequel

Hiya, I'm starting to go back to the gym. What exercises do you recommend or just a starting point? Maybe blogs that you follow? I really appreciate it
Hi! That's awesome you're getting back to it! For exercises, honestly the most important thing is what you enjoy. Also, whatever your goals are would be pertinent too. But regardless, you're not going to stick to it if you don't like it. All exercise is good so there's no reason to feel like you "have" to run or "have" to do yoga or whatever.
I personally am focusing on weight lifting, where my week is divided as:
Chest/shoulders/triceps
Legs/abs
Rest
Back/biceps
Leg/abs
Rest
Rest
So I'm doing legs/abs twice a week and upper body muscles get worked once a week. I personally just wanna work on my legs and abs more. 🙃 If I was just doing the legs/abs once a week though, then that’d be a pretty typical 3-day split. But some people divide weekly routines into "push" days and "pull" days, or upper body days and lower body days, or even just different whole body workouts. Depends on your preferences and goals and abilities (both physically and with time - 5 different routines means you gotta get to the gym 5x a week if you don’t want to miss a muscle group). You can research different weekly lifting splits to get ideas and info.
I use the Hevy app to keep track of the lifting routines I do and the weight that I'm lifting, etc. It has a great archive of exercises that you can just peruse through or search for specific things and you can create/customize your saved routines. When I downloaded it, it already came with preset routines for chest/shoulders/triceps, back/biceps, and legs/abs, so that worked out for me. I've customized them still though. Each exercise even has a little video of a person doing it if you want to refresh your memory real quick. Lots of tumblr peeps are on that app too haha.
Overall, just make sure you’re not lifting anymore than you can without proper form since that’s a great way to get injured. Make sure you do research on the exercises you’re going to be doing first and their proper form or common mistakes with form. Even if I’m pretty clear on how to do an exercise, when I look it up regardless I still often learn some new tidbit.
I also really love hiking! Which happens to be great for my goals of burning fat and maintaining/building muscle (especially my butt lol). And nature is just 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 for mental health. Going for bike rides is also nice. These are also ways I get my heartrate up since I don’t really enjoy cardio workouts. Many people put too much emphasis on killing themselves with cardio, which isn’t needed (but go for it if you like it!). But it is good for your heart & lung health and your stamina to get in at least some, in whatever form you enjoy.
As for recommended blogs, honestly everyone I follow is great, I can't pick to make a list haha. But either check out the people I reblog from, or go through the list of people that I follow - I just made that public!
Good luck, enjoy! 💪🏼🖤

Clones love being petted
Clones love being petted, if it is a close brother or someone they trust like their Jedi who just starts petting them in the head, they will melt and if they start to play with their hair in case of long hair or massaging their scalp, if they could they would purr or can they?
Sooooo.......
Clones and their preferences in pets
GO!!
Group petting sessions only happen after a bad missions or after the first mission of a new batch of shinnies.
But they are very common between batchmates, couples or in the case of being the last member of their batch, another group of troopers who are the same kind of adopts them.
The 501
Would they let Anakin pet them? Some, mostly the veterans and in some cases the shinnies.
What about Ashoka? Similar to Anakin but Shinnies are actually more hesitant with her.
Rex: He doesn't let anyone pet him since he is the Captain of the 501 legion and needs to work and can't lose time with petting sessions, but when Anakin suddenly "petted" (it was more like ruffling his hair gently since he had been in the medbay after a bad mission) him he does "subtle" things to earn another pets but he mostly gets pats the in the shoulder or just a grateful smile, he doesn't dislike it but he doesn't want to receive a pat, he wants pets.
When Cody found out he teased him for weeks, since when he did get another pet it was in front of Cody, Cody and his batchmates are the only others who cant pet him.
Fives: When Domino squad wasn't on the best of terms, he would let almost any brother pet him, this was mostly to spite his batchmate since petting is something most clones only let other clones who they trust do and he knew that he had really fluffy hair that his batchmates also loved to pet.
While they are on the Rishi moon outpost he started to let them pet him again and vice versa.
When he and Echo enter the 501 legion only Echo could pet him since he could not bare the thought of letting anyone else but his last batchmate do it, after he loses Echo only Tup could pet him in the rare occasions that Fives would let him, after Tup died there wasn't any actual opportunity to receive any kind of pet, but, if there had been, he wouldn't have let anyone else pet him again.
Echo: When Domino squad wasn't on the best of terms, Echo unlike Fives wouldn't let anyone actually give him any kind of pets, but on the Rishi moon outpost he was one of the first ones of the squad to offer to pet any of them, Hevy was the second by letting Echo pet him and vice versa.
After joining the 501 legion he would also only let Fives pet him, but later he let Kix pet him from time to time after growing closer.
After being rescued from the Tech union, he didn't let anyone actually pet him or touch him in any way since he had become uncomfortable with any type of physical touch, when he was having a panic attack, Wrecker used Lula to pet him, this helped him trough the panic attack and later to become more familiar and comfortable to physical touch, he later was mostly comfortable with Wrecker petting him and later with Omega.
Tup: He didn't like being petted that much since it would tangle his hair, although he was open to pats by most brothers.
Dogma and Fives where the only ones who he would let pet him and Fives would sometimes times, help comb his hair, specially Dogma who liked to comb his hair after every mission, when Dogma is taken away Tup stopped letting Fives comb his hair, not because of resentment but because it was his way of mourning Dogma.
Dogma: He to the distress of other brothers had one of the fluffiest hairs in the galaxy but he hated when someone messed up his hair, only in the night cycle would he let Tup pet him, although this stopped completely during Umbara and obviously after it. But after Dogma killed Krell and they waited for the republic to reach them Tup snuck into his cell and offered comfort with pets.
Jesse: Due to being bald he didn't receive as many pets as other brothers, but he still loved receiving scalp massages by any brother, although he enjoyed them the most when it was Kix, Fives or Hardcase.
Kix: He likes being petted by Jesse but being the medic of the 501 legion he doesn't have as much time as others, but he will also let a sick brother pet him to comfort them or he will pet them.
Appo: This man is a big softie and one of the pickiest clones out there, he wants his pets in a exact way, if it's to harsh he'll tell the brother to do it gentler, same if it is to gentle, any brother who pets him always waits for his instruction, this is to prevent any trouble and to help him fall asleep, since Appo is a insomniac.
Ashoka and Anakin: At some point in the war they had become the designated petters for the clones, why? For some reason their pets where the best, not even the clones could explain why (good vibes=good pets). Some clones also really liked Anakin's mechanic arm since it was cool to the touch and some liked that. Ashoka being a carnivore species, naturally had long nails so many where fans of long nails. They both share the fifth place as the best petters in the GAR.
212:
Cody: He doesn't let ANYONE pet him, he is the marshal commander, he can't waste time with such childish things, he can't lose any time in such silly things............
The 212 alongside Obi Wan can pet him whenever they want, they will also pet him to make him sleep for at least four hours, his batchmates also do this since Cody is weak when it comes to pets, he will literally melt at any touch of that kind.
Waxer: He personally doesn't like being petted that much, but he loves giving pets to anyone who need them, he also likes to pet Boil out of the blue.
Boil: He LOVES pets, he doesn't know why, he just loves them. Unfortunately Waxer uses this against him by petting him out of nowhere, no matter how much he wants to take his hand away he just ends up leaning into the touch.
Obi Wan: This bastard will use the power of pets to make most of his men sleep or at least rest, being a total hypocrite at the same time, if they don't like being petted he will let them pet him since it seems his men are fans of his straight hair which is something different from the usual curly hair.
Wolfpack:
Wolffe: Over sized puppy.........that's it, he will act tough but he is like a puppy when someone pets him and god forbid they stop because he will either glare at them or use his puppy eyes, who knew he had them? May god have mercy on any brother who starts a petting session because they will be stuck in it for a good while, although Wolffe does prefer pets from Boost, Sinker, Comet, Fox, Plo Koon and Bly, he also likes petting Rex since it annoys him.
Boost: This man does NOT like pets, he will bite someone's arm off before that happens, the most he will allow is a small pat from Plo Koon, but surprisingly he gives some of the best pets in the entire GAR, he is ranked as the third best at giving pets, no one knows how, not even him.
Sinker: He is very shy about pets, he does like a good petting session but only given by either Boost, Wolffe or Plo Koon, this has a lot to do due to him feeling incredibly vulnerable during the whole thing, this is why he only lets himself be vulnerable in private, although he will gladly give a petting session to any brother who needs it.
Comet: He is basically the stressball of the whole Wolfpack, but in a good way, this way is that when any brother is stressed, they will pick him up and start petting him, this includes Plo Koon, although this has caused some sibling rivalry between him and the rest of the Wolfpack since Plo Koon give some of the best pets.
Plo Koon: He loves being able to give any sort of comfort to his men "sons", he has to admit that petting someone is very enjoyable and he is ranked as the sixth best at giving pets in the GAR.
Lighting squad:
Ponds: He is honestly the most cat like from all the clones, some days he will hiss at any kind of touch and other days he will sit besides any brother and put their hand on top of his head as a way of demanding pets, he does this with the shinnies the most, since it helps build trust and it can distract or comfort them after a bad mission.
Mace Windu: May the force bless this man, Lighting squad has the highest number of clones with long hair, this is due to him being really good at tending to long hair from his experience with Depa, he ranks as the fourth best petter in the GAR.
Coruscant Guard:
Fox: He is a sucker for pets but the only way anyone can manage to pet him is for him to be exhausted, in the medbay, to blackmail him with a shinnies feelings or to be Wolffe, Bly and Ponds, those three always force him to relax, first with Ponds asking Fox for pets, later with Bly petting him without Fox even noticing and finally with Wolffe demanding for pets, since Ponds is one of Fox's youngest vod he can't say no.
Thorn: This man surprisingly isn't a big fan of pets, he feels that his hair is always greasy so he doesn't like people touching it but he is good a pets or at pulling stubborn brothers into petting sessions.
Hound: This man has permanent ownership of the position as the best petter in the entire GAR, this is due to his experience with mastiffs.
The Bad Batch(unlike in canon I'm making it so that they had a normal relationship with the regs, because fuck canon and Filoni):
Wrecker: This soft boi, he holds second place of the best petter in the GAR, not only does his size give him a bed shape for any vod who is being petted but he is surprisingly gentle and patient when it comes to petting someone, he really like being petted by Tech and Echo since they both have trouble when it comes to physical touch, so for them to be comfortable with him giving them pets or them petting him, it makes him extremely happy.
Hunter: He does NOT like receiving pets, this is mostly because it sort of overwhelms him so he sticks to petting his brothers, especially Crosshair who acts tough but actually likes Hunter's pets, this makes Hunter a proud ori'vod.
Tech: Just like Echo he is not a fan of physical touch but when he feels comfortable he will pet himself with Lula as a way to ask Wrecker for pets and sometimes from Hunter.
Crosshair: He is one of the most stubborn asses out there, he says he hates pets, but if Hunter manages to wrangle him into a petting session he literally melts, and he may or may not have liked it when Echo also petted him for a little while during one of this petting sessions.

Rant to me about Twitch. Just do it.
Oh boy ok you’re asking for it.
under the cut because this got long :3
I don’t understand Star Wars dates too well but Twitch was about 8 1/2 years old/17 when he was sent out right before Umbara. Which would have made him maybe eleven when the Jedi first came to Kamino. Twitch has a natural caring and empathy for his brothers, so he was selected for medical training. The rest of his brothers were trained as typical grunt infantry, but they were all pretty close. Even though Kamino was terrible, Twitch was a bright sunshiny smiley kiddo. The kind that would randomly pick up a flower (if there were flowers on Kamino) and give it to you because it was pretty. All smiles and giggles and laughter.
As the war went on more and more medics were needed, at a higher rate than other clones, so Twitch’s training was fast-tracked. While medics still got basic weapons and combat training, as deployment came closer and closer it got pushed aside in favor of more medic things. A lot of this included flash-training. Flash training was a method of “teaching” in which information was directly uploaded into a person’s brain, and was commonly and cannily used on Kamino because it was technically efficient. No muscle memory yet, but all the bare and raw information. As clone casualties increased and training time decreased for each generation, I’m thinking that flash training got more and more common. I’m assuming there were laws or general standards of how long it was healthy to use flash training for, and I’m assuming the Kaminoans disregarded these and pushed it to the limits of how long they could do it without frying anyones mind. So lots of Twitch’s medical knowledge is from flash training, and his last year or so was doing rounds in the medical labs and turning knowledge into experience.
Twitch actually hated flash training so much because he was definitely among the groups pushed to the limit on how long they could stand the training for and each time it left him feeling awful. His batch mates didn’t understand much as they had more training simulations and less flash training, but nights after were definitely spent in compiles if they could, or if they couldn’t someone would sneak into his pod and bring his pillow and blanket. Safe to safe when Twitch currently has nightmares, they’re one of the big three subjects (others being Umbara and The Nightmare) and was very very happy to learn flash training wasn’t a thing in other places.
Also Twitch isn’t actually very good at combat. His blaster scores are just above the cutoff, and he managed to pass his combat drills by reading his opponent’s body language instead of being any good at fighting himself. On the field he much prefers to be giving medical aid rather than helping with the shooting. He’s not objectively bad, he’s still an enhanced soldier, but by clone standards he’s not the best.
There’s only one of Twitch’s batch mates I have partially developed, and that’s his closest vod Ruckus. If Ruckus had made it past Umbara, he would have been part of that Hevy 🤝Hardcase🤝Wrecker group that loves heavy weaponry and explosions. Ruckus is hyperactive and Twitch is inattentive so they get got each other very well.
When I say Twitch was sent right before Umbara I mean this was his first battle. Unlike say Dogma and Tup, who had enough fighting experience to earn them paint. Twitch and his batch were shiny as could be, and a little underprepared in general with their cutoff training time. Umbara was difficult for even the veterans. Twitch was a bit safer than the others since he wasn’t infantry, so he made it out relatively unharmed. His batch mates weren’t so luckily and died one by one throughout the campaign, which absolutely shattered Twitch’s heart. What kept him from spiraling was the attention of Fives, sent his way after Kix realized what happened and figured Twitch could use some comfort from someone who understood. Twitch and Fives formed a tight bond and Fives convinced Rex to transfer him into their little group, where he naturally became the kih’vod of the squad and loved by all. With his batch mates dead he lost some of his outgoing cheer and became more reserved, but with new brothers who love him and he loves right back he managed to hang on to his optimism.
Twitch wasn’t really given enough time to specialize in a field of medicine but after helping out with some of the clones that needed ongoing physical therapy (somewhat uncommon on Kamino because they didn’t really tolerate any recovery that would take longer than a few weeks and would increase costs) he found he absolutely loved the hands on approach to helping his brothers heal and feel better. His natural empathy and people-skills is very helpful in putting frustrated brothers in pain at ease. In any AU where the war ends Twitch takes classes and gets certified as an official Physical Therapist. When Echo comes back he personally helps him with his exercises and scar management.
One of my favorite aus with twitch isn’t even mine lol, but belongs to ao3 Fulcrum55 who with my permission included Twitch in their fic. Twitch is a relatively new character, but he’s now permanently five years old (in human years not clone years and now without the accelerated aging) because of experiments done by the Empire on essence transfers using clones. But since being given a new body, he became force-sensitive and now that sense of intuition is increased ten-fold. Because of the strong bond he had with Fives, he was able to reach out to him (because Fives now also has the Force and is maybe twelve-ish and training to become a Jedi) and get rescued from the Empire. Once rescued he was officially adopted by Rex. Actually-Force-sensitive Twitch is something I’ve always wanted to explore and in this au he just knows things at this point I think he can practically hear the Force.

I think the point of them ignoring the clone deaths to bury Russian Yoda is to show how detached the Jedi are from the reality of what’s happening maybe? I dunno, i noticed it too, especially how none of the Jedi really say anything about Echo, a named clone who was their “friend”!
I’ve been ragging on the Jedi a lot while watching because the tone of the episodes doesn’t do them any favours, but to be fair i do think a lot of the SUPER bad shit is more a result of the writing being biased towards the “””main protagonists””” and not necessarily because the Jedi are meant to be textually awful people - whoever wrote each episode just seems to kind of temporarily forget about their cannon-fodder having feelings, so that they can get a cool angsty Anakin moment in or something without having to spend screentime on the clones But that said, I do think the Jedi in-text take the clone troopers for granted even if they wouldn’t like to admit it to themselves, and thats not even getting into the unavoidable exploitative nature of a made-to-order clone army and how that colours the whole lot of them in a dubious shade of moral grey no matter what else happens Which keeps things interesting!  But’s it’s all chill anyway because Echo’s fine! Waxer’s fine! Hardcase is fine! Hevy is fine they’re all fine!! They’re fine.

Chapter 4
Today was the day, the squads were to be tested to see if they were ready to claim the title of Trooper and join in the fight against the Separatists, a big day for all of them for sure, so why were you the one who felt nervous?
After seeing the rather disheartening performance given by Domino Squad, you couldn’t help but feel bad for them, but at the same time you were a bit disappointed. You knew they could do better than what you saw on that training ground. You could tell they had the right skills; they just lacked the cooperation needed to succeed. This war isn’t a one man show, it takes everyone, every trooper, every jedi, every and anyone who was willing to fight for the Republic to win this battle, and you all had to work together if you had any chance at victory. Once they learned that, they’d excel, you were sure of it.
Unfortunately, they were out of time. The ARCs were already here, and ready to see what these cadets had to offer. This was the squad’s last chance to prove they were ready to take on this war, and for the first time, you weren’t sure if they could.
You were always the one to give any and all clone cadets the benefit of the doubt, because you could always see their potential, see how an individual could help in the fight, in their own way. You could watch someone train and notice the thing that made them unique, the skill they possessed that if honed and used just right, could make them an even better fighter, a better soldier even.
You saw these individualized skills within Domino Squad as well, the only difference here was that their willingness to put squabbling and selfishness over getting the job done was holding them back, and it was getting in the way of them using those skills to their full potential.
A good example of this was CT- 782, 99 had called him “Hevy”, a title you thought fitting given the man’s choice of weaponry. You could tell that Hevy was a natural born leader, he was never one to shy away from leading the pack, a personality trait you had found to be quite rare in a clone trooper, seeing as many were taught to simply follow; follow orders, follow regulations, follow their superiors into whatever chaos lay ahead. They weren’t usually taught to lead, so when you came across one who came by it regardless of their training, you were impressed. The problem with Hevy, however, was that he thought he could take on the enemy alone and didn’t seem to have an issue with leaving his team behind if it meant moving forward with a battle. Of course, this didn’t work out for him in the end, all he seemed to do was make himself an easier target.
You sighed, resting your chin on your folded arms as you leaned on the balcony’s edge, looking over the currently empty training field. You had wanted to speak to the men after their practice test, maybe try to give some much-needed guidance, but Shaak Ti had advised against it.
“But Master, if I could just speak with them, I’m sure I could help guide them in the right direction. They just need a lesson in teamwork, that’s all. If they get that, I’m sure they’ll…”, you began to argue, but the jedi master didn’t let you finish.
“It is not our place (Y/N), that is what the trainers are here for. Bric will handle the men, we mustn’t intervene with his training”, she said.
“I understand, but Bric won’t advise them, he’ll scold them, and that won’t do any good for anyone. Couldn’t I just…”, you began to ask.
“No (Y/N)”, she interrupted again, a bit more sternly this time. “You were sent here to help oversee the cadets’ training, not to provide it.”
You lowered your gaze to the ground below you. “Yes Master”, you said dejectedly.
Shaak Ti gave a short sigh before placing a hand on your shoulder, much like she had the previous day. “I know you are concerned for these cadets, and I understand your worry, but we cannot simply do as we please, even if it seems like the right course of action. It would not be wise of us to overstep”, she said.
You nodded slowly and looked to her. “I know, it’s just hard sometimes, I want them to be given every opportunity to succeed, but you’re right, I shouldn’t overstep, so I won’t”, you relented. “I guess all we can do now is wait and hope for the best.”
The Togruta woman looked at you with a pitied expression before replacing it with a soft smile and turning away to focus her gaze yet again on the computer screen where she had been reviewing files in preparation for the upcoming tests.
“I’ve always admired you for that”, she said.
“Master”, you asked, unsure of what she meant or where this unexpected compliment came from.
“Your ability to care so much for these men, even the ones you don’t know personally. You have a very caring and kind heart, but are also a fierce fighter, especially when it is in defense of the people by your side. I know the jedi council saw your closeness with your men as a dangerous attachment, but I can’t help but think that it is those relationships that made you the skilled jedi you are today”, Shaak Ti explained. “Your loyalty and determination to keep your men safe is what I believe gave you the strength to achieve success in your past battles, and perhaps it was these same attributes that gave your men the will to carry on and fight, even when victory seemed out of reach.”
You gave her a confused look. “I suppose, but I don’t really see how that same sentiment applies to my men. They are fighting for the Republic, for peace in the galaxy, that is what drives them, not me”, you stated.
She looked back to you, making direct eye contact to ensure you were listening to what she was trying to tell you.
“That is what they are fighting for in the long run, yes, but out on the battlefield, in the moment, those men are fighting to keep you safe, to keep you alive. When you are in the heat of battle that is what keeps them going”, she said, not taking her eyes from yours. Suddenly Fuse’s words came back to you, “We’re the ones who always have your back, keep you breathing.” Could she be right, could that be what drove your team, the need to protect each other, and not just the outcome of the war you were all thrown into? You guessed it wasn’t totally out of the realm of possibility. Then, as if reading your mind, she concluded, “These men aren’t promised anything after this war is over, but for now having a general, a friend, like you, who they know would lay down her life for them, that is enough. They are fighting for you.”
“But how can you be so sure”, you asked her.
“I can never be sure of what is truly in one’s heart, but I do observe. The rare occasions I have witnessed you and your company’s interactions with each other have been quite telling of the bond you have with them. It is obvious they care a great deal for you, and the reports of your successes out in the field tell me that you work well as a team. However, what has me coming to this conclusion is in the way I see them look at you. I have noticed each one of them give you that same look.”
“What look?”
“The look you give someone when you love them”, she elaborated. Your eyes widened a bit, this wasn’t the answer you were expecting. “To what extent this love goes, I cannot say for certain, but if I had to guess, I would say it is the love one holds for a sibling, for their family.”
You nodded slowly, not being able to find the words right away. You knew she was right; in your heart of hearts, you knew. It wasn’t something that escaped you all, you had grown to accept and nourish your familial bond with your unit, something they seemed more than okay with. You were just a bit surprised that Shaak Ti not only noticed it from brief observations but seemed to be comfortable with you having this relationship with them, even seemingly encouraging it.
“That’s why the council separated us, I got too close”, you said wistfully, casting your eyes downward.
Shaak Ti lifted your chin with a finger, making you look at her instead of the floor.
“It is alright to get close to people (Y/N), it is even okay to love them in return. The thing you have to learn is how to let go of those loved ones when the time comes. This is what your true lesson in all this is. If you are unable to let go, then those feelings will only hold you back. Love can be your greatest strength, but it can also be your greatest weakness, if you let it”, she said.
“I understand.”
You did. You knew she was only trying to help you by telling you what you needed to hear, but you also knew that you couldn’t stop yourself from loving someone, it wasn’t in your nature to reject those feelings. But you didn’t have to, you just needed to be able to let go when the time came, and it seemed as if that time had come for you and your men. You could still love them, but from afar, and you had to just trust that they would be alright and would keep each other safe in your absence. “Of course they can, they’re grown men, they can take care of themselves and each other just fine without you, stop worrying so much”, you tried to mentally reassure yourself.
“Thank you for your council Master”, you said.
She gave you a kind smile. “You will be alright (Y/N), and so will these cadets”, she said reassuringly.
You were finally able to manage a smile and nodded. “So, what did Lama Su have to say about the situation”, you asked.
“He said that ultimately the decision of what happens to Domino Squad is up to me”, she answered.
“Well, that’s a good thing isn’t it, at least we know they won’t just be cast off”, you said with a bit more enthusiasm than you’d had during the entire conversation.
“Yes well, while I would like to give them all the time they need to prepare for this challenge, that is still out of my control, and if they do not meet the required standards, there won’t be much else I can do for them”, she informed you somberly.
“Well then, I guess we just have to hope they do. I have faith in them, they’ll come around. I know plenty of people who work better under pressure, so perhaps this test will allow them to rise to the occasion”, you said hopefully.
“Perhaps”, she said with a smile, appreciating your optimism.
You thought back to this conversation and gave yet another sigh. You wished you were really as optimistic as you’d led her to believe you were, but now you just found yourself more worried. You didn’t want to see any of these men fail, because if they weren’t out there then they were stuck here, being disrespected on the daily. No, everything would be alright, you had to believe that.
As this thought passed your scattered thoughts the door behind you opened and a group of individuals entered. El- Les, Bric, three ARC troopers, and two Kaminoans went to take their places on the balcony, clearly eager to get started.
You turned to the troopers as they approached you. “Commanders Colt, Blitz, Havoc, it’s good to see you again, I hope you’ve all been well”, you addressed them.
“Good to see you General, and yes, thank you”, Colt spoke for the group.
“Shall we get started”, you asked, gesturing to the control panel El-Les was now manning.
“Forgive me General, but where is Master Shaak Ti, we were told she would be overseeing these tests as well”, Havoc asked you.
“Yes, she was, but she was called to a council meeting not too long ago, so unfortunately she won’t be sitting in on the tests today. I am here in her stay”, you informed them.
“Alright then”, Colt said, coming to stand beside you and looking out at the ground below. “Let’s begin. Start the Citadel challenge, version THX, variable 1138.”
***
Bravo Squad had done as well as expected, passing with no issue.
“I’m impressed, you trained ‘em well”, Colt said once the test came to its conclusion. “Who’s next?”
“The Domino Squad”, El-Les responded hesitantly.
Bric let out a sarcastic laugh, and you fought the urge to walk over and deck him. You stayed composed as you watched the platform rise at the opposite end of the field carrying the group in question, before they made their way onto the course.
“Begin the program”, Colt commanded. “Let’s not take it easy on them.”
The test began and as the training droids activated blaster fire filled the air once more.
After a few minutes you noticed the cadets were gaining ground quicker than they had the previous day.
“They’re getting farther than last time”, you said, voicing your observation.
“Maybe so, but they’re sloppy”, Colt said in response.
Bric then made a comment on how they should give them their next orders and “watch the chaos ensue”. You were so tired of his negativity and lack of faith in his trainees.
“I’m telling you, these guys just aren’t ready”, he concluded.
You looked back to the squad below, your eyebrows knitted in worry. “Come on guys”, you said under your breath.
The cadets continued to progress when one of them was shot down. You then watched as his team left him behind, injured and defenseless.
“Oh no”, you said in a disappointed tone before turning to Colt. He gave you a single nod and you returned it, knowing what this meant. You then followed him and El-Les, as they made their way to the lower level.
As you approached the men from behind you heard one say, “We’re gonna pass this time”, right before the simulation was ended and the droids were deactivated. “Okay, I spoke too soon”, he then uttered.
“That would be putting it mildly”, Colt told him as the three of you reached their position. “Broke formation, disobeyed orders, and you left a man behind. You broke rule number one.”
“I’m sorry, Domino Squad”, El-Les spoke up. “This is an automatic failure.”
The cadets all took on a look of shock at the news.
Colt and El-Les then left the training field while you stayed behind. You looked at the cadets one by one, giving each of them the same disappointed expression you’d been holding since their mistake was made. Your eyes finally rested on the one cadet who had been shot down and was still on his back. A bolt of worry shot through you and you quickly walked over to crouch beside him, giving him a once over for any noticeable injuries, of which you found none, thankfully.
“Are you alright”, you asked once the man began to stir back to consciousness.
“Y- yes, I’m okay, thank you”, he responded before slowly sitting up.
You helped him to his feet and once you were sure he wouldn’t collapse without your support, you let him go.
As he made his way back to the other men you began to head for the exit, but a voice caused you to stop.
“I’m sorry (Y/N), we messed up… we let you down”, you heard one say. Echo, you could tell by his force signature and the softness that radiated from it, although now it was intermingling with a great feeling of shame. You couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness as you felt what he was feeling through the force.
You sighed as you turned back to face the group. “Maybe, but more importantly, you let yourselves down”, you told them somberly before taking on a slightly sterner tone. “Look, I’ve been told not to intervene, so all I’ll say is this, individuals don’t win wars…”, you said before turning away again.
“But a team, just might”, you finished over your shoulder.
The cadets shared disheartened looks as you walked toward the exit, leaving them to think over your words. While it wasn’t much, you hoped it would be enough.
***
After the last squad finished their test, you had headed to your quarters, needing some time to be alone and think. You had been sitting on your bed mulling over the day’s events for about an hour when your comlink went off, the beeping filling the silent room.
“Yes”, you answered.
“(Y/N) could you please meet me in the training area, there is something we must discuss”, Shaak Ti’s voice came through the device.
“Yes, of course, I’ll be right there”, you responded before standing and promptly leaving your quarters, making your way through the various hallways to get back to the training grounds.
Once you made it to your destination you found the jedi master standing in her usual spot on the balcony, quietly overlooking the giant room beyond, and you came to stand beside her, not breaking the silence.
“I have some good news for you”, she said, breaking it herself.
“Good news”, you asked, to which she simply nodded. “About what?”
“The council has finally made their decision on your new placement”, she said casually.
Your eyebrows raised of their own accord; you didn’t even realize the look of surprise you were giving until her next words hit your ears.
“I thought you would be happy, not shocked”, she said, an amused smile beginning to appear at the corners of her mouth.
“I- I am happy, of course, but…”, you struggled to piece your thoughts together for a moment before finishing, “I just was beginning to think that the decision would never be made, and they’d just tell me to stay here for the duration of the war.”
She shook her head. “The council said it would make a decision, and we have. We wanted to make sure we placed you with a unit that you might feel comfortable with, we do not want this to feel like a punishment”, she told you.
“But isn’t it”, you asked, your eyes holding a bit of hurt behind them.
She noticed and her expression softened even more. “Of course not, you did nothing wrong (Y/N). Some of the council members were just concerned for you, that is all. They were worried you were getting too…”
“Attached, I know”, you interrupted in a low voice, looking to your feet.
“Yes, but we know it is not your fault and we would never punish you for it. We just think you need a change, and perhaps with this new unit you’ll find it more difficult to get attached”, she said.
You look back up to her, confused. “How is that?”
“Well, I find it tends to be easier for one to grow attached when they are with a smaller group of people, such as your last unit, just as I believe it to be harder to do so with a much larger group, with many different individuals constantly coming and going it is more difficult to form any close bonds”, Shaak Ti stated.
You weren’t really sure you agreed with that idea, but you nodded anyway, not wanting to argue with the woman, especially when you knew she was just trying to help, to reassure you that this change wasn’t going to be a bad one and could possibly act as a steppingstone in your growth as a jedi, and a person.
“Okay”, you said simply. “So, who am I being placed with?”
The woman smiled. “I have been asked not to disclose that information as of yet. The council wishes to tell you in person”, she said.
“Oh, alright then”, you said, still a bit confused, but you decided to leave it and just trust that the council had their reasons. “So, I assume that means I’ll be headed back to Coruscant?”
“Yes, you leave tomorrow with the new troopers”, she informed you.
You nodded. “Right”, you said in a low tone before looking back out over the training grounds.
A long moment of silence passed before Shaak Ti spoke again. “I sense there is something else troubling you”, she said, looking to you.
You sighed and turned your head in her direction. “It’s Domino Squad, they failed their test”, you said somberly.
“Yes, I know”, she told you.
“So, what do we do”, you asked.
“That seems to be the question of the day”, she said, earning another confused look from you. She continued, “Both Bric and El-Les have approached me with their suggestions on how we should handle this squad. That is the other reason I called you here, I wanted to run them by you and get your opinion.”
“What did they say”, you asked curiously.
“Bric has requested we move them to maintenance…” she began.
“Of course he did”, you interrupted, feeling your irritation for the bounty hunter rise to the surface. “He has no faith; he’d rather toss these men aside rather than help them succeed.”
Shaak Ti hummed in agreement. “Which is why I was more inclined to accept El-Les’s offer instead, he requested the Domino Squad be allowed to repeat the final test, what do you think”, she asked.
“I think you should accept his request; they deserve one more chance. I believe that they can do this, if given some helpful advice that is”, you said, the implication heavy.
She knew what you were getting at and gave you a knowing smile. “I thought you might say something like that.”
You smiled and gave her a small shrug in response.
Just then you heard the door hiss open, and you turned to see two of the cadets in question enter, you recognized them as Fives and Echo.
“Generals, may we have a word”, Echo asked.
You looked to your fellow general who was now staring back out over the balcony, seeming to be in thought.
“You are here to discuss your squad, aren’t you”, she finally said.
“How did you…”, Fives began to ask.
“Ah, jedi mate”, Echo responded, cutting him off.
“One doesn’t need to be a jedi to feel the stress on your mind”, Shaak Ti said, turning to face the cadets.
“General, we would like to request a transfer to another squad”, Echo said, directing the words to the jedi master. You looked to her, curious as to how she would handle this.
“We are jedi”, she stated, gesturing to you as she spoke the words, “Where the individual and the group are one in the same, much like you clones.”
“Which is why, Fives and I are looking out for each other”, Echo replied.
“As individuals, but not as a group. You are where you need to be. Solve your problems as a whole, not as individuals”, she advised.
You turned to look the cadet in the eye before repeating your earlier comment, “Individuals don’t win wars.”
Echo’s eyes lit up with recognition. “But a team, just might”, he said, finishing the phrase.
You smiled and gave him a confirming nod, knowing he now understood the true meaning of your earlier statement.
The jedi master looked between the two of you, as if she thought she was missing something, but seemed to shrug it off rather quickly.
“I have decided to allow you and the rest of your squad to take the test again tomorrow”, she stated.
You saw both men’s eyes grow a bit wide, clearly, they hadn’t expected this outcome.
“T- thank you General”, Echo said softly.
“Yes, thank you General”, Fives repeated.
“You should thank General (L/N), it was her faith in you that guided my final decision”, Shaak Ti told them.
They both looked to you with grateful smiles and voiced their thanks, to which you offered them a kind smile and a slight bow of the head.
“Now, you boys should get some rest, you’ve got a big day ahead of you”, you told the two, who nodded and turned for the door.
Once the men had left, you turned to Shaak Ti, giving her a thankful smile of your own.
“Thank you, Master”, you said.
“It was the right thing to do”, she said calmly before shooting you a smile. “You should get some rest as well; they aren’t the only ones with a big day ahead.”
You nodded, humming in agreement. You then left the training grounds and made your way back to your quarters.
You were about to enter your room when you heard your name from down the hall and turned to see Echo approaching you.
“Echo, I thought you were off to the barracks”, you said, a bit confused.
“I was, I am, it’s just, I wanted to thank you, again. Thank you for believing in us, even though we haven’t proven worthy of it so far”, he said, his expression saddened, and eyes cast downward. “I’m grateful for your kindness.”
You placed a hand on his shoulder, coaxing him to look at you, giving him a kind smile when he finally did.
“Can I tell you something”, you asked. When he nodded you continued, “It wasn’t exactly kindness that prompted me to vouch for you all. You see, I have a very deep connection to the force, more so than your average jedi knight, and sometimes I get these, feelings, almost like the force itself is trying to tell me something, and I got one of those feelings about you and your squad. I feel that you all have a lot of potential and will do a lot of good in this war, and my feelings are never wrong. So just give it your all tomorrow, and don’t forget to have each other’s backs out there.”
With that he straightened his posture and nodded. “Yes ma’am”, he replied.
You smiled warmly at the determination in his eyes.
“Goodnight Echo”, you said while turning back to your door and swiping your hand to open it.
“Goodnight (Y/N)”, he responded before walking off to the barracks.
You couldn’t help but smile as you readied yourself for bed. Things seemed to be looking up and all the Dominos had to do now was take full advantage of this opportunity they’d been given, and there was no doubt in your mind they would.
Then another thought crept into your mind, your new placement. Soon you would find out what unit you would be joining, you were both excited and nervous all at once. All you knew was that it was a group much bigger than your previous one, which really wasn’t very helpful in narrowing it down. All you could do now was lay in your bed and wonder.
You sighed and closed your eyes, letting yourself drift off as you thought about what tomorrow would bring.
***
You woke the next morning feeling optimistic, which you took as a good sign.
This attitude kept up the whole morning and into mid-day. Even as you entered the training area and took your place on the balcony, your demeanor didn’t sway. You had full confidence that this would go well, your feelings hadn’t been wrong before.
“Well, let’s get this over with”, Bric said unenthusiastically. “The faster they fail, the faster we can send them where they really belong.”
“They’re not going to fail, they’re going to pass this time, I can feel it”, you responded, shooting the bounty hunter a glare with your words.
“Oh, not you too, what is it with you both? I’ll never understand how you can have such blind faith in these losers”, he said, shaking his head at you and El-Les.
“They’re not losers, and they’re going to prove you wrong, you’ll see”, you told him, confidence filling your tone, and then turned your gaze back to the starting point, seeing the platform begin to rise.
Bric huffed. “We’ll see about that”, he said.
There was something in his tone that didn’t sit well with you, almost like he knew something you didn’t, but you brushed it off, not having time to dwell on it as the test began and the Domino Squad jumped into action.
Everything was going well, really well in fact, they were getting farther at a quicker pace then they had in their past attempts, they seemed more focused, and most importantly they were working together to do it. They were finally acting like a team and noticing this had a feeling of pride swelling in your chest. They were going to make it.
No sooner had this thought crossed your mind when the squad made it to the citadel and were preparing to make the climb to the top. It was then that something seemed to go awry.
You scrunched your face in confusion and worry. “What’s going on”, you asked to no one in particular.
“Where are their ascension cables”, El-Les then asked.
“Must’ve gotten lost”, Bric replied with a smirk on his face.
You whipped around to face him. “What did you do”, you asked angrily.
“I thought you had faith they’d be the best”, he said, pointing to you and his fellow trainer. “Well, the best pass, not matter what.”
Your eyes widened and you turned to Shaak Ti. “Master, we have to stop the test, this isn’t fair”, you implored her.
“Adversity in war is a constant. You of all people should know that General”, she said calmly.
“But Bric has cheated”, El-Les argued.
“The enemy won’t play fair either”, she countered.
You looked back toward the cadets’ position with a worried expression. You knew she was right, but you still couldn’t help feeling as if this was incredibly unfair.
Just then, you saw one of them run out from their hiding spot along the citadel wall and begin shooting at the guns lining the face of the structure, and shortly after the rest of the men were doing the same. They were able to shoot out the guns, and as soon as they did, they were running forward and using said guns to scale the tower.
“Well, that’s certainly something different, can’t say I’ve seen any squad do that before”, you said, raising an eyebrow as a smirk pulled at the corner of your mouth.
They then reached the top of the tower and pulled the beacon from it’s base, therefore completing the test. As they all huddled together and cheered, you smiled down at them, the pride in your chest now overflowing.
“Bric, your actions have brought out the best in these cadets. Looks like they were well trained, perhaps the finest soldiers I’ve ever seen”, you heard Shaak Ti say to the bounty hunter.
“Well, maybe you two were right after all”, he then directed to El-Les and yourself.
You turned and gave him your best “I told you so” look before directing your attention back to the cadets.
Echo noticed you watching and smiled widely at you, raising the beacon he held in his hand higher, as if to show you the proof of their accomplishment, you nodded to him, a warm smile on your face. The others followed his gaze and then all sent their own smiles your way, Fives adding a wave, and Hevy a quick two fingered salute, both of which you reciprocated.
Shaak Ti came to stand beside you as both the trainers and cadets made their exits from the grounds.
“It looks like you were right to put your faith in those men, they will make fine soldiers, thanks to you”, she said, giving you a kind smile.
“Master, you and I both know that you would’ve let them retake the test, with or without my suggestion”, you said with a smirk.
“Perhaps, but seeing you with these men, and your determination to help them succeed, it gives me faith. Faith that our troopers are going into the right hands. I know you and our fellow jedi will keep them safe, just as they will do for you”, she said.
You nodded. “I will do everything in my power to protect our troops, this I can promise you”, you told her, a sense of resolve in your voice.
She placed a hand on your shoulder. “I know you will”, she said softly. “Now, you’d better get going. I believe you have some medals to distribute.”
With that she made her exit, leaving you standing there, grinning and shaking your head. You then followed suit, exiting the training area for what you were sure would be the last time, and making your way to the barracks.
***
“Congratulations boys, you’ve officially graduated”, you told the men of Domino Squad after giving them their graduation medals.
They stood tall, pride plain on each of their faces, and rightfully so, for they had much to be proud of. You had told them as much only moments before.
As the two trainers took their leave, the men began to follow on their way to prepare for departure, as they would now be shipping out with you and the other newly graduated troopers to Coruscant, where they would then be sent out to whichever battalion or post needed them most.
You stayed behind for a bit, wanting to say a proper goodbye to 99, who had been present for the brief medal ceremony. But as you looked back to him, you saw he and Hevy were having a moment of their own, so you stayed put for the time being, not wanting to interrupt, and when you saw Hevy give his medal to the other man, a surprised look came over your features before it morphed into a smile.
Once it seemed their conversation had come to its end, you walked over to them, still holding that smile.
“Hey there handsome, and how are we today”, you asked your friend. He smiled and tried to hide the slight blush that rose from the use of your pet name for him.
“I’m doin’ just fine General, even better now that you’re here”, Hevy said from beside you, catching you a bit off guard, but you regained your composure almost instantly.
You gave an amused chuckle before turning to him. “While I have to admit you are rather ‘easy on the eyes’ yourself”, you said, recalling his use of the phrase toward you from the other day. “I was actually speaking to this good-looking gentleman here.” You placed a hand on 99’s shoulder and looked to him with a warm smile. “I wanted to talk to you.”
Hevy’s expression turned to one of shock as he realized what you had just said.
“You, you heard that”, he asked you, looking a bit embarrassed now.
You nodded. “Mmhmm, I hear everything”, you said with a grin.
“It’s true, there’s not much you can get past (Y/N), even if you try”, 99 said with a small shrug.
You could see the trooper’s face begin to redden and you laughed softly.
“Don’t worry, you’re not in any trouble. Like you said, it was meant as a compliment, so thanks”, you told the man, who then visibly relaxed.
“Oh, yes, it was, um, you’re welcome, General, I mean (Y/N)”, he stammered.
You couldn’t help but laugh again at the man’s nervous behavior, it was actually kind of sweet.
“So, what did you want to talk about”, 99 questioned you.
You turned your attention back to him.
“I wanted to let you know that I’m going to be shipping out soon with the troops, the council has finally decided what they’re going to do with me, so I’m headed back to Coruscant to meet with them”, you said, disheartened about leaving your friend.
“Oh, so this is goodbye then”, he stated.
You gave his shoulder a light squeeze with the hand that was still resting there.
“For now, but we will see each other again, of this I’m sure”, you said confidently.
He chuckled. “Another one of your feelings”, he asked you with a smile.
“Yep, and you know they’re never wrong”, you said before letting your hand slip and fall back to your side.
“Well then, until we meet again”, he said, holding out his hand for you to shake.
You raised an eyebrow at the formal gesture and then shot him a grin before bending down and hugging the man. He returned the hug immediately.
“Thank you, for being my friend”, you said in his ear.
“I’ll always be your friend”, he said. “I’m gonna miss you”, he finished after a short pause.
“I’m going to miss you too”, you replied, holding back the tears you felt behind your eyes.
You pulled away, standing straight once more, but not before placing a soft peck on his cheek, earning you a bashful smile from the clone.
You smiled and began to make for the exit, beckoning for Hevy to follow, as he needed to ready for departure as well. You sent one last wave to your dear friend when you reached the door.
“Don’t get into too much trouble while I’m gone now”, you told him jokingly, to which he laughed and sent the both of you a parting wave.
You made your way down the countless halls toward your quarters, needing to grab what little you’d brought with you before heading to the hangar. You had decided to escort Hevy to where he’d be given his official trooper armor, which just so happened to be on the way.
You walked in a comfortable silence before he spoke. “So, how do I earn one of those”, he asked in a low tone.
You looked at him, confused. He then smiled and pointed to his cheek.
“Oh”, you said, realizing what he was referring to. You chuckled before continuing, “Hmm, I don’t know, maybe step up your game a bit. No offense but your approach leaves a lot to be desired.”
He raised his eyebrows at this. “Oh yeah, and what do you know about game, I thought jedi weren’t supposed to partake in those kinds of things”, he said, sending you a sideways grin.
“Just because I’m a jedi doesn’t mean I don’t know how to flirt, I am still a lady”, you said, feigning offense.
He chuckled at this and briefly stopped to grab your hand, causing you to face him. “Well then my lady”, he said as he raised the hand to his lips, giving the back of it a feather soft kiss.
“Aren’t you a bold one”, you said as he lowered and released your hand.
“Can’t help it, that’s just how I get around beautiful women”, he said with a shrug.
You shook your head as you continued your walk.
“Well while that might work for some girls, I know for a fact it won’t work on most. Despite being a jedi, I know my fair share about courting. Besides, the only real rule we have that relates to something like that is the rule on attachment, nowhere is it written that we can’t partake in flirting, or what it could lead to for that matter”, you said smugly as you reached the room where his fellow graduates were gearing up to leave.
It was as if your words hit him all at once and the realization of what you had just implied had him stopping in his tracks to stare at you, a look of astonishment plastered over his features, and you chuckled at the expression.
“Are you saying you’re allowed to…”, he began, but you cut him off before he could finish.
“You’d better go suit up soldier, wouldn’t want us to leave you behind now would you”, you asked sarcastically, shooting him one last teasing grin before turning on your heel and heading to your personal quarters.
You knew you shouldn’t toy with the men like that, but you couldn’t help it, Hevy was so cocky, you felt you needed to one up him to show that you weren’t just some tight-assed jedi who could be messed with like that, plus, his confidence was contagious. Either way, you felt you did him a favor, someone had to tell him his moves were a bit cheesy.
Once you made it to your room, you quickly packed your things and headed for the hangar.
***
You stood with Master Shaak Ti at the head of the massive group of troopers, looking out on all of them with a proud expression, you knew they’d all worked hard to get here, and would continue that hard work in order to keep the galaxy safe from Separatist rule.
“Today is your graduation. From here you ship out to fight against the Separatists, and restore piece to the Republic”, Shaak Ti said from beside you, speaking to the men. “Congratulations. You are no longer cadets, you are troopers. May the force be with you.”
Blitz then gave the order for them to dawn their helmets and begin the march to the ship.
As they marched past, you looked to the jedi master.
“Goodbye Master, and thank you, for everything”, you said, slightly bowing your head in thanks.
“Good luck, and may the force be with you young jedi”, she said, bowing her head in return.
You smiled, then followed the troopers to the ship.
Before you knew it you were off, headed to Coruscant, and to your new beginnings.

Have some more to further twist that knife in the gut :)

Shameless Flirt
Hey hoes! I’m (partially) back!!!
I had a sudden burst of writing inspo. I am very excited to finally give y’all my long awaited Hevy X Reader fic!! I loved writing this, Hevy was so fun to get into the head of. I was going to post this yesterday but then (of course, right as I wanted to start posting again lmao) Life Happened aHA-
Anyways! The Reader Is A Lady (although, it’s not really specified aside from she/her pronouns. still tagging it as female reader though)! No warnings apply, just a lot of flirty banter and a bit of smoochin! Reblogs, replies, and comments are highly encouraged. I love hearing from y’all! Enjoy!!!
~
Technically, it was your day off. However, being the workaholic you were, and bored just sitting in your quarters, you decided the best course of action was to pick up some things you had left at one of your workstations in the ARC training sector...like the stopping point of your last project. You waved and smiled past the guards and troopers patrolling the halls, the vode knew you so it’s not like they were surprised when you strolled through the stark fluorescent halls in your lounging civvies you brought from Corrie. It’s not like you didn’t do this every other off day. It’s not like they haven’t tried to stop you- but not even ARC Commander Blitz could give you orders to go relax as you hunch over another blaster, detonator, or even some type of launcher, without you grinning like a cheeky loth-cat, “I am relaxing, Commander.”
After the first few months of working alongside Blitz, he came to understand that nothing was going to come between you and your work. At least nothing short of the consequence of you kicking and screaming all the way back to your quarters. So he let you be. “Don’t mind her, boys, that’s just our weapons tech. She’s always at the armory, or here in the target range. Think of her as a part of the training- don’t you dare get distracted.” Every new batch of ARC-trainees got told the same thing, and everytime you’d smirk into your work with a casual but polite wave over your shoulder, not even bothering to look back-
“And what about after training, Commander, will she still be ‘distracting’ up here?”
-until today. His shameless intention laced his words, and you could feel his eyes run up and down the curve of your spine, following the shape of your legs. You stood straight from your bent position over the standing turret, turning around with an unimpressed brow as you cocked out a hip, “I sure will, but you’ve got curfew to make, trooper.”
It was easy to single out the flirt, even if they were all wearing helmets. There were five trainees this time, four of them had their shoulders shaking as they choked back giggles with varying snorts and fake coughs at their brother’s expense. The one second from the end to your right seemed taken aback by your retort, spine stiff, and visor still looking at you dead on. You slid your eyes over to where Blitz was sighing and shaking his head, taking as step forward as he ordered, “Fives, thump your brother’s helmet for me.”
“Aye, sir,” Fives managed to breathe out the two syllables without breaking, but needing to clear his throat before swatting the upside of the flirt’s head, effectively taking his gaze off of you and immediately to the floor. Blitz made his way across the room to stand in front of the trooper, and even though they were the same height, Blitz carried himself in a way that made him seem to loom over the younger soldier.
“CT-782, you said your name was Hevy, right?”
“Yes sir,” Hevy confirmed, voice coming out low, in a natural huskiness some clones seemed to have, as he stood even straighter, trying to mimic the Commander’s practiced stance. Blitz nodded a couple times, humming sagely- you recognized this though. He wasn’t thinking at all, he was just adding tension, the dramatic bastard. You couldn’t help but scoff silently at his demeanor as he took an inhale before continuing.
“I’ve read up about you and your brothers, soldier. The outpost at Rishi, getting recruited into the 501st, your entire batch surviving every fray, hells I just saw all five of you in action during the Separatist invasion just a couple days ago,” Blitz took a moment to exhale, something that could have been mistaken for a sound of intrigue, “You no doubt deserve to be here. An entire batch making it to ARC training? This hasn’t been done since the last batch made specifically to be ARCs themselves. But son-” in the pause, now you could never be sure, but you were positive in that moment you heard the grating clicking of Hevy grinding his teeth at the term, “-I don’t recommend playing with fire. Lucky as you all have been, even in ARC armor, you’ll get burned.”
Hevy stole a glance back at you, to which you gave him a mock salute with your screwdriver and a delightfully crooked smirk before turning back to your work.
Instead of taking his Commander’s words to heart as a warning, he took them as a challenge. From that day on, whenever he found himself in the same room as you (provided Blitz wasn’t there to reprimand him) he would try his hand to win you over. Admittedly, it was very fun to trade bouts of wit with him. He was a cocky brute, but held a sharp tongue. His hot-headedness made it especially entertaining to get him all riled up, teasing him back, only to give him a flick on the nose or a poke on his chest plate. Hell, there was one time you went as far as squeezing his bicep. Specializing in weaponry, especially the heavy duty kind, his arms were definitely impressive. How could you not take that chance?
On the slower days, when he was too tired to even run his eyes over you, he’d still find you hunched over your workspace in the armory to watch you perform your task of the day. An arms specialist finding interest in a weapons technician’s work? Shocker. Still, being surrounded by the blasters and countless ammo and bombs in the armory, listening to the gentle clicks of your tinkering and watching your fingers go through repeating nimble motions over metal plates and little rivets did seem to put him at ease after a rough day. It was something you could much too easily relate to. Over the course of Domino squad’s ARC training, those days where he gave you quiet, warm company were your favorite.
Today was not one of those days.
You had been given a new assignment, transferring from the training base...to travel with the Domino squad once they graduated in the next few days. And it seems like they just got the message too. You rolled your eyes as you heard his low whistle from across the room, but from the safety of being turned around you couldn’t help a sly grin take over your face.
“And what, praytell,” Hevy’s gruff voice fills the armory as his boots echoed off the walls with their weighted falls, like you could hear the sway in his step to the beat of his walk, getting closer to you as you continued to lean over your work table, “Did the Domino ARCs do to get a pretty little thing like you to be our weapons technician?”
“Oi, leave her alone, Hevy,” ever the gentleman, Echo tried to ‘defend your honor’ from the shameless flirt as he walked in not a moment later, “Unless you want her to issue herself for a transfer to a different band of ARCs? Keep talking to her like she’s some meat pie, see where it gets you.”
“Awh, thank you, Echo,” you cooed over your shoulder before pushing up your goggles to give Hevy a sugar-coated pout, Eat shit, Hevy.”
Hevy knew this game, taking his helmet off he shot you a charming wink, before turning to his brother, “What other ‘band of ARCs’? We’re the only notable ones, all the other ARCs are in CO positions, or are riding it solo and getting contracted to separate battalions for separate missions every day! We’re the only full squad of-“
“Half a squad,” Echo interrupted, taking off his helmet to shoot his brother a criticizing arch of his brow, “You realize a full squad is nine soldiers, right? This stuff has been drilled into us since decanting-”
“Then why do they call us the Domino squad?”
“Rolls off the tongue better than Domino batch,” you grumbled into your work, slipping your goggles back on and trying to focus amidst their conversation, “Look, are y’all actually here for something, or-?”
You trailed off, continuing your practiced movements as you waited for an answer. Hevy leaned next to you on the table, careful not to jostle it, or you, with his weight. He had learned that lesson the hard way...some nights his shin still throbbed with the memory.
“We’re gonna celebrate, not just the graduation, but now with you getting to tag along!” Hevy’s unusual cheeriness made you pause in your work. You turned to him, about to say something when he continued, “And we want you to join in the celebration too, mesh’la.”
You blinked at him, surprised by his offer. Sure, you were friendly to the troopers, and Hevy seems to have gotten especially comfortable around you, but you didn’t think they’d want to invite you to something as special as that. You pulled the goggles completely off your head, setting down your tools as you turned around to lean against your table, “I’ll bite. What’s the catch?”
Echo and Hevy looked between themselves, before glancing at you with mirroring expressions of confusion.
“Why do you want me to join?” you elaborated, bringing up a hand to count on your fingers, “You wouldn’t want me there unless you had a reason for me to join, what is it? Contraband liquor? Snacks? Do you want me to secure the armory for the get together so you don’t have to have it in the barracks, or my quarters, or what?”
“The catch,” Hevy took a careful step into your space, mimicking your new pose, giving you an amused if not surprised smile, “is for you to have fun, not surrounded by guns and ammo.”
“And that’s coming from Hevy,” Echo scoffed, but agreeing with a wide shrug of his shoulders as he crossed his arms. You looked between the two of them as the moment stretched out for what felt like a lifetime… for Hevy at least. All the times he spent with you, all the terrible flirting and unashamed eyeing- he really wanted you to join. He could feel sweat begin to creep down his neck, the longer he waited for a response, swallowing down a gulp of dry air as his gaze flicked nervously over to Echo. Echo simply rolled his eyes- all of Domino Squad knew about Hevy’s true feelings for you. It was hard not to take notice when Hevy was just, well, like that. But they never seemed to learn about Hevy’s quiet times in here with you, how you two would partake in silent togetherness, finding peace in each other’s company. Not that Hevy was embarrassed, far from it, but he liked having that little piece to himself. Of course, he wanted more of you to himself, but for now those comforting silences while you built and rebuilt blasters were enough for him, because they were enough for you.
You kept your gaze neutral as you weighed the option of joining in your mind. It was far from a bad option, you liked this batch. They had been through a lot together, loved and protected each other like brothers should, and along with Hevy they accepted you as one of their own. What was one night?
“Yeah, alright,” you looked between the two ARCs, a grin forming as you stole a glance at Hevy, “I’ll join in. When is it?”
Hevy could jump for joy at your agreement, but he was still leaning on your workspace. Instead he smiled wide, tattooed cheeks crinkling parallel to the corners of his eyes, letting out a relieving breath, “Tomorrow night, the eve of our first deployment as ARCs. Be at our bunks at 1930…and if you do have any liquor-”
“Hevy-”
“Of course I have liquor,” you interrupt Echo’s chiding with a wink to the heavy gunner, bringing your forefinger up to trace Hevy’s jawline, gliding along the sharp edge, the pad of your fingertip calloused from years of work, and swelling with pride at how his dark eyes fluttered shut as he leaned into your teasing touch. Coming off with a playful tap to the tip of his chin, his eyes snapped open at your sultry chuckle, “See you tomorrow, soldier.”
You turned back to your work, slipping your goggles on a final time, but not before a quick and casual wave over your shoulder, “Later, Echo.”
Echo couldn’t figure out your mood toward Hevy worth a damn. He looked between your aloof manners and Hevy’s moony grin, deciding it just wasn’t worth trying to pick your brain at, partially because he was smart enough not to get involved, but also he wasn’t certain he’d be able to stomach the answer. Catching his brother's eyes, he made a discreet gagging motion to him before fitting his helmet back on and walking out the door, “See you, techie.”
Hevy stayed back a bit longer, continuing to watch you work. He was completely quiet, but his silence was deafening. You breathed out a huff of laughter, the tops of your ears beginning to heat up at his attention, wetting your lips, “Well?”
“Hm? Well what?” he shook himself out of his stupor, blinking back into time at your voice.
“Are you gonna leave now n’ let me work?” You cursed inwardly at your harsh words. You liked Hevy, deep down he was a real sweetheart, but you always found yourself being so coarse to him. Thankfully, he was as much of a hardhead as he was a hothead, and he met your indifferent glare with a devilish grin that made your heart jump doubletime.
“No, I think I’m gonna sit right here and watch your lovely hands make something amazing.”
“Amazing?” you scoff, shaking your head at his compliment, “I’m just fixing up another DC-15A that some cadet broke. You need to head to the med station if you think that’s amazing. We both know the Z-6 rotary is far superior-”
“When you’re done with it, it’ll be the best DC-15A in the GAR,” Hevy interrupted, eyes shifting between your face and your hands, “Everything you do is amazing.”
You stopped what you were doing at the genuinity that filled his praise. He always spoke to you with a hint of truth, a bit of heartfelt sincerity to make his easy way of speaking more personal to you, more interesting. But there was something in his expression, maybe the dreamlike haze filling the depths of his eyes, or the way that his accent rolled off his tongue that had you placing your palms flat on the table before speaking low to him, “Hevy, what are you doing?”
“I thought I was pretty clear,” he shrugged with a sideways grin, still careful of the lean on your table, “I’m watching you. You’ve let me before-”
“I mean with the…” you gestured to his full self, keeping your eyes on your now resting project, “The whole...flirting thing.”
You caught him off-guard. The two of you have been at it for months now, but neither of you had ever said or acknowledged anything about it. It was like a silent pact between the two of you, continue the performance, but don’t mention the game. To suddenly come out of the unsaid arrangement, Hevy felt himself draw back, slowly lifting his weight off the table, “Do you...not like it? I mean I figured that you...you know, you’ve always responded…”
You couldn’t believe it. After always having something to say, being able to trade quips, building a friendship over the shared banter and ripostes, the fearless ARC trooper you’ve seen grow so much these past few months was babbling out broken sentences at a single question.
“I can stop, if you’d like.”
It was that whispered phrase that brought you back into the moment, turning to him with burning cheeks, “I didn’t say that.”
“Well then what do you want?” He took a step into your space, brow set and a jaw flexing as he frustratingly tried to understand your sudden shift, “We’ve been...flirting-” the word left him like he was saying it for the first time, each syllable carefully leaving his lips- “since the day I met you. Mesh’la, if you don’t like it, say something! We’re about to go to work together, travelling the galaxy for a long time-”
“Exactly,” you countered, poking at his chest as you stood defiantly to him, tearing off your goggles and mussing your hair off to the side, “Whatever this is, are we gonna continue it? Continue dancing around each other like some kind of goddamned soap opera where everyone but us gets off on our own self-denial?”
“Self-denial?” Hevy repeats, an incredulous sound leaving his chest as you saw a fire spark behind his stare, “Sweetheart, I’m not denying anything, especially things I haven’t been asked!”
“Alright then, fine!” Somewhere down the conversation, your voices had raised to shouting in the small space, even as you two stood almost nose to nose, and your breath hot on his lips you asked, “Do you like me, trooper?”
“Like you? It was love at first sight when you first told me off,” Hevy couldn’t find it in himself to be embarrassed at his confession, just focusing on fueling the flames between you, “And what about you, techie? How do you feel about me?”
“I think you’re a smartmouthed asshole with a heart of gold and a pretty face- yeah, I like you a whole fucking lot!”
This was ridiculous. You knew it was ridiculous. You could see it in his face too, the two of you breathing heavy, barely a hair’s width away from each other. You’re unsure who started it, later on you two would always claim the other giggled first, but eventually you found yourselves holding onto each other for support as you laughed out the rest of your pointless venom. His arms fit around you perfectly as your hands held strong to his wide shoulders, your laughter filling the room together, the sounds swirling in their melody as everything started to click perfectly into place. Once everything quieted down, your head resting against his chest as his hands ran up and down your back, you exhaled low and steady against him, slowly rocking in his hold, “Plastoid isn’t that comfortable to rest on, huh?”
“You should try wearing it,” Hevy snorted at your comment, leaning over to rest his cheek on the top of your head, “So...what now?”
You hummed, feigning thought before angling your face to brush your lips over the column of his throat, murmuring into his skin, “I wouldn’t be against a kiss.”
Something rich left his throat, the sound deep and thrumming through his chest before one of his hands found its way into your tresses on the back of your head, tugging gently at your hair to guide you to his lips. You couldn’t stop the brief hitch in your breath at the daring move, but you wouldn’t have expected anything less from the brash soldier. At your word he took the lead, slanting over your mouth in a soft motion, breathing you in as easy as air. You followed in confidence, welcoming the boldness with which he kissed you as the same boldness that had him playing the game you both set up. A small noise of satisfaction left you, not just from the perfect pressure from his lips moving so softly against yours, but also from the way his hand gripped so firmly at your waist through your canvas jumpsuit, his other hand still carding so thoughtfully through your hair; it was a sweet little gasp that Hevy swore he’d be replaying in his head for a week. Or at least until he was able to make another sound tumble out of you.
Your hands came up to cup his cheeks, thumbs tracing the edges of his tattoos, pulling him impossibly closer. The payoff of this single kiss was absolutely worth all those months of gentle torture, the teasing touches and glances, discreetly watching his lips when he’d talk and thinking about how he’d feel against your own. Or even how he’d taste. In a stroke of your own audacity, you ran a slow, languid lick of your tongue against his lips, and the growl that came from him made the most delightful of shivers shoot right down your spine.
He had a robust, spicy taste, earthy and rich with a bit of heat that came tickling at your tongue. It wasn’t too surprising- he smelled the same way, smoky and hearty with the biting musk all clones seemed to carry with them. What did surprise you was the honeyed velvet of his own tongue eagerly coming to meet yours as you repeated your action. You could feel his infuriating grin at the helpless whimper that dripped from you at the feeling, and you nipped brazenly at his bottom lip in retaliation.
Before he could respond to your playful attack, the two of you froze as a throat loudy cleared from the entryway of the armory. Hevy almost didn’t pull away from you, a near silent broken whine coming from him (for your ears only) as he came off of your lips with a wet smacking sound. After a quick flex of his fingers, he removed his hands from you just as slowly, your own hands sliding down from his face to clasping behind your back. You both turned to face the bucket of Commander Blitz, arms crossed and stance wide in the doorway. He nodded toward the hall, “You left the door open.”
You cleared your throat, pursing your lips to keep from saying something ridiculous. Hevy clenched his jaw, trying to accomplish the same thing. Blitz’s visor smoothly slid to gaze over you, and you straightened in the mimic of his cadets. “You finally relaxing, techie?”
A short chuckle escaped you, lips twitching up in a coy grin, “I am, Commander.”
He nodded, that same dramatic humming leaving him as he turned then to Hevy, who tensed at full attention to the ARC Commander. “What about you, son. How’s that burn feel?”
“To be perfectly candid, sir,” Hevy, always pushing the limits, turned to shoot you a look with a quick lick of his lips before responding, “Absolutely thrilling.”
Blitz nodded again, taking slow steps into the room, like how Hevy had earlier that day, letting each step echo off the walls until he was about two feet away, “I’m happy for you both, but please. Don’t be stupid. You’re lucky it was me walking by and not one of the longnecks, or the nat-born chief trainers. Close the doors. And do me a favor, wait till you’re both off Kamino for any of the heavier stuff, okay?”
You and Hevy both confirmed the Commander’s request with quick nods and mumbled “Yes sirs,” making him let go a long breath. Uncrossing his arms, he pointed to Hevy, “Trooper, hit the showers. Move it.”
Hevy shot you one last look, if you didn’t know any better you’d say he was bashful, before saluting Blitz, grabbing his helmet and marching out of the armory. You stood straight, still under Blitz’s cold stare from his visor, until he sighed, slapping a companionable hand on your shoulder, “If he steps out of line, I better be the first vod you call. I will kick his ass so hard, he’ll be knocked back to failing the Citadel the first time-”
“At ease, Commander,” you rolled your eyes, you hand coming up to hold onto his, brushing your thumb over his knuckles with a soft breath of laughter, “He didn’t lay a hand on me until I asked him to.”
Blitz squeezed your hand, taking off his own helmet to look at you. He looked a little older than Domino did, cheeks slightly hollowed and eyes a bit deeper set, a bittersweet shine coming over his amber stare, mouth twitching up into a lopsided smile, “I’m gonna miss you, after you go off with those fools.”
“You’ll make great friends with the next techie who comes along. Who knows, maybe they’ll actually listen to you,” you smile back at him, the two of you masking the tears threatening to fall from your lashes. He pulls you in, touching your foreheads together, before giving two more pats to your shoulder.
“And remember,” he pulls off of you, placing his helmet back on and causing his voice to come out in a soft static, “Please, for the love of Jango, don’t-”
“Don’t be stupid,” you salute to him, winking for extra effect, “Aye-aye, ori’vod.”

Echo: "Go hang a salami" backwards is "I'm a lasagna hog" and that pleases me.
Hevy: How did either of these sentences occur naturally for you to discover this?
