and so i have been thinking thoughts...

elicited from the new trailer. copy and pasted from my discord cause i do all my thinkin there n_n;;

claudia + louis

when i think back to the book and the movie claudia was obviously an extremely important turning point in louis' life but it never felt like she was... the center of it you know? despite the fact that she was that glue that kept louis tethered to anything human in him.

but the book felt like he was just telling his story to be a. Sad pathetic man thing for the sake of it. cause he had no purpose to exist alone. to exist without claudia or lestat (or armand but their dynamic is. different and dicier) but after claudia is killed something about her presence and the years she spent with louis while alive felt... shrugged off in a way? and its likely because she didn't really have much of an identity outside of him and lestat which is understandable because she was significantly more vulnerable in the book than in the show, so she lacked that autonomy to have that choice to exist outside of them.

and when madeleine was brought into the picture for her to get that autonomy it was unfortunately already too late...

theres a few things i want to mention. just thoughts in my head. claudia dies fighting HARD for her autonomy as a person and a vampire. in comparison to louis who in all honesty has (DEBATABLY) lived without a shred of having his own autonomy. with lestat, lestats love (as claudia very smartly puts it) keeps him in a box. louis is financially dependent on him as a black man in the jim crow era once he loses the azalea, hes cut off from his family, he has NO ONE.

the brief time of just him and claudia is a good moment in time for both of them , trying to discover vampiric history together(tho in the show it looks like before they get to paris its gonna be absolute dogshit in comparison to the book), but in louis' case i feel like its guided by guilt and some form of obligation, because if he didnt go with claudia–who was already set to do this traveling alone before lestat dragged her back–where WOULD he have gone? stayed in new orleans with lestat in the dump just waiting to crawl out? i think he would sooner kill himself if he was left alone like that.

with armand…………… loumand is definitely better than loustat in extremely complex ways that i cant put into words right now but simultaneously even worse because of HOW armand preys on louis. there is absolutely love between them and i wont deny it but armand is so INSANELY dependent on the love of others to give meaning to his existence that he leverages louis' weaknesses and frailities to ensure that they will spend an eternity together. like he was plotting from the second he met louis and claudia. he kills claudia and madeleine, which then makes louis kill all the other vampires of the coven, so that there is no one left, NO ONE for louis to be able to turn to for solace.

i think that him remembering what actually happened to him up until the present is so important to him because he'll finally be able to realize that he hasnt been allowed to properly exist for himself the entire duration of him being a vampire. and maybe he can decide what he wants to do, for himself.

[these thoughts are referring to a tweet that wonders if armand is going to end up alone in the end. note: i am not versed in devil's minion lore. i'm getting there but as of this post i have not reached it]

i love armand but the guy is genuinely evil and has wronged every single character hes come across including lestat which i find is hard to do

I know ppl are excited for armandaniel and devils minion but Im not..going to lie ive been REALLY skeptical of it and how it would be explored in the context of the show without severely wronging louis and doing him EXTREMELY dirty.

people are allowed to like it in the bubble of the books but theres a really big shift in dynamic for the show in the fact that ... armand has definitely done... Something to daniel and louis, of what i cant say. but with the way that things are going, an ending in which daniel sides with armand after finding out exactly what armand did to louis and claudia in paris does NOT sit well with me?

and i love loumand but I am so uneasy about the inevitable breakup in regards to whats gonna happen AFTER it. I feel like daniel now is wise enough to not chase after a guy who is diabolically selfish and broken and leave louis behind to live out the vampire fantasy dreams of his youth. and in the trailer too im getting. Loudaniel vibes in terms of reconciling their past with the previous interview. And Heres my theory for Devils minion BUT ITS LOUDANIEL INSTEAD OF ARMANDANIEL (1/689)

What’s your thoughts on Shirou?

I like Shirou! Definitely warmed up to him faster than I did for Shiki from Tsukihime, I think he’s a really interesting protagonist in his own right like how he can really just be batshit insane at times and his flawed ideal coupled with his PTSD and insane hero complex + survivor’s guilt was something I did not expect going into reading Fate. But he’s really just a sweet guy looking out for his family who likes to cook and clean and take care of people which I really enjoy!!!

There are a few things tho and it’s mostly with the writing around him and just some of the things he says 😭 all the sexist stuff like “oh you’re not supposed to fight you’re a girl and I’m a man so I should protect you” but it’s really minor stuff I can overlook because I know that’s more of the writing around the time than anything else with his actual character I would criticize him for.

saw ur post about the slowburn fic ur writing. just letting u know. ur fucked up and eveil. im with it tho. reigen fucking roshuto is the funniest thing ever and not enough people explore how funky a circumstance hate fucking can be

the fic is actually about serizawa finding out that reigen isn't psychic, and he leaves spirits & such for a while. it takes place about a year or two after canon. reigen self destructs while serizawa thrives away from him, working at a cafe and soon dating his manager, a woman named nana (name subject to change, i'm only like barely 3 chapters into this fic). it's similar to the separation arc in canon. then, serizawa realizes he wants to help people with his powers, and comes back to spirits & such, now ready to mend their relationship, and it gets complicated.

putting everything else under a cut because there's just so much to this fic i'm writing and i HAVE to talk about it or i will go insane, but also it's spoilers. it's all incoherent down there, so be warned, everything is out of order, i'm just talking about it as it comes to mind.

content warnings for general homophobia, (including the use of slurs and homophobic attacks), as well as predatory boss/employee relationships (not between reigen and serizawa, between serizawa and someone else)

roshuto is kind of a rebound/coping mechanism in a way for reigen, and what's even better is during the relationship, reigen is more of the asshole in the relationship than roshuto is, and roshuto is the one who ends up dumping him. it's fucking great. it hurts so much.

this fic is a whole lot of reigen getting deeply caught up trying to untangle the web of lies he'd been weaving for like 6 years straight while serizawa tries to unravel his trust issues and his negative view of himself, all the while the both of them are trying to figure out who they really are, because at the end of the day, they both don't know who they are.

reigen has spent so long lying about pretty much everything about himself that he doesn't know where to begin with what about himself is true or just part of the mask.

on the other hand, serizawa just doesn't have the life experience necessary to have a solid grasp on who he is as a person. he's only been out of solidarity for about six years, he hasn't even made it to the halfway point of the amount of time he spent in isolation.

reigen also has a huge complex with his internalized homophobia that he struggles to work through as a part of figuring out who he is. he struggles to be gay without shame and guilt, and for many years, he repressed his feelings toward men very intensely out of disgust for himself and fear of what other people would do to him if they found out, and he struggles to accept that part of himself. happy trails, the bar he goes to, became a safe haven for him to go to, and even if he didn't outright say anything about being gay or ever have a hookup there, it was a place where he didn't have to worry about getting attacked because everyone there was just like him, living their own lives with the same fears, and understanding him.

for years, he went to this bar and felt safe, like he could completely unmask and it would be okay. however, one night, he gets attacked by a group of drunk, homophobic men looking to take the frustrations of their jobs out on him, and it completely undoes any progress he had initially made with accepting himself.

serizawa's arc and the big things he works through on the other hand, are his issues with going along with what other people want, even if it's something he hates, because he doesn't know how to say no. he gets too anxious to, like he's going to ruin everything. he never said no to toichiro, he rarely said no to reigen, and thus far, he's the same with nana. he ends up struggling really badly trying to figure out if he actually loves nana or if he's just too nervous to say no to her on anything, especially because at one point she was his manager at the cafe they met at.

he can't tell if he's attracted to people more dominant than him, who take charge, or if it's because he's only ever really been around people like that, who have been in literal positions of authority over him, and he's just become afraid to say no, like he's not allowed to, feeling that his place is to be used and to do whatever other people want him to.

it's reigen's internalized homophobia that eventually destroys their relationship because he goes hot and cold; one day he wants roshuto, the next he dumps him and wants nothing to do with him.

i have this one quote from roshuto in the fic that's just really painful and it's really sticking with me so far:

"I know you have a whole complex about being gay. I know that you can barely even admit to yourself that you like men. I know you hate yourself for being a faggot, but I don't! I worked too hard for that!"

it hurts, man.

i haven't written it yet, but at some point i want there to be a conflict between nana, serizawa and reigen, where reigen finds out that nana was his manager at the cafe, and reigen loses it at how unprofessional and predatory it was for that relationship to happen like that. there's dating between coworkers, and then there's the manager predating on an impressionable guy without a lot of life experience who struggles to stand up for himself and say no, who she is also in a huge position of power over.

serizawa gets upset, first trying to say that he doesn't need to be treated like a little kid and that he can handle himself, but eventually thinks on the situation, and he realizes that reigen was right. he couldn't tell if he actually liked nana or if he was just happy to be in a relationship at all, feeling like he's not allowed to say no to anything she wants.

eventually, they break up and it devastates reigen to see serizawa so torn up over it, but in the end they both know it's better for him to get some more life experience and to learn how to better stand up for himself and say no than it is for him to be in a relationship with the mindset that he's not even allowed to say no.

so far, i'm calling this fic "psych" because reigen is pretending to be psychic, and is using his jack-of-all-trade skills to bullshit his way into having other people believe that he's actually psychic, and that is very similar to a murder-mystery cop show from the early 2000s called "psych", where a guy called shawn spencer pretends to be psychic to help the santa barbara police department in california solve crimes, and his best friend, burton guster, enables his lie.

eventually, shawn starts dating the junior detective, juliet o'hara, and they have a great relationship until she finds out that he's not psychic, and it destroys everything.

it's a really entertaining show, and it's nothing like other cop shows. highly recommend if anyone reading this enjoys murder mysteries, 90s and 2000s rock, constant movie references, an easter egg hunt involving pineapples that happens in every single episode, and general silliness and hilarity. honestly, brooklyn-99 has nothing on psych. the parallels between shawn spencer's ADHD ass and reigen's ADHD ass are fascinating.

that's where i got the inspiration for this fic. i'm not sure if this is going to be the actual title for it, especially because this fic is nothing even remotely close to silly, it's like all angst, but for now that's what i'm calling it until further notice and i'll be using the tag 'psych' to talk about this fic if anyone wants to block it.

anyway, that's my ramble. i hope you enjoyed it. that's far from everything that happens in the fic because no way in hell i could put it all in here, but here's a lot of it.

The details of the complex inner workings of my mind below

Callie signs her name with a heart, Marie is too lazy to finish signing her name it just trails off to nothing.

I don't have specific heights in mind just that Marie is taller (Callie is wearing platform shoes in 3 sorry it's a fact). Also in fable the range skills make you tall and the strength skills make you buff so charger/roller get that too. Simple.

They r the same age. Unless it's funny. Aka one of them being like when I was your age then they explain what they did a week/month/whatever ago.

Not girl, hashtag girl. Callie also isn't picky about who she's with.

Marie was very Girl when she was working as an idol but she's free now. Also she only likes Callie because mental illness.

Callie decides who gets to be the big spoon sometimes it's her sometimes she wants to be held, Marie doesn't really have a preference tho.

Callie steals clothes and loses them, she has that vibe. She has So Many and still takes Marie's. Marie doesn't necessarily want to lend them but Callie will just take them anyway.

Marie isn't a pet name kinda squid... She'll use Cal but that's just a nickname. Callie loves pet names because they embarrass Marie.

Yeah yeah introverted extroverted we know this one.

Callie loves to say I love you and all of that. Marie isn't very good at expressing her emotions thru words but she does things to show she cares.

Callie isn't waiting for a confession because she doesn't necessarily know one is coming. Marie however will eventually breakdown and say it and think Callie will hate her and think she's gross but that doesn't happen.

Marie doesn't like bugs but she has to be brave 😔

Callie splantoon cuttlefish canonically cannot drive. At least, she couldn't before. I just assume she hasn't had time to learn since. Marie doesn't like to drive but she will.

Callie can't cook but would be happy eating candy and junk food. Marie can cook, hypothetically, but usually doesn't because. Y'know. The depression

Marie gets nervous about Callie being publicly affectionate because what if someone sees and gets suspicious. Even in a it's ok no one cares world I think she'd still get embarrassed and just not want people talking about it (everyone totally does). Callie loves affection any time any where.

:) Marie will disappear you if you're bad to Callie. She was always protective but after 2 she maybe went a little. Hmm. Callie is afraid of being alone so she ends up being over protective about Marie at times, too, but more. Normally.

Callie loves dates and going out and casual relationships and meeting new people. Marie misses when she had the idol excuse as to why she doesn't date. She feels intensely inferior because Callie HAS been with people with experience, so what if Callie is just humouring her? She isn't as good as the other people. Callie could be with anyone...

Listen. I think Callie has an insanely high sex drive. So much so Marie has given her permission to just "do whatever" even when she's asleep. Callie wants her to return the favor but Marie isn't as into it. Guilt tends to override any arousal, then inferiority, then general depression, then if she ever gets on meds?? Man. :/

Callie is awkward but she doesn't realize it. She says or does weird things and doesn't realize other people think it's awkward. Marie said she could smell that Callie was around. Girl get help <3

Marie is so jealous :( Callie is regular jealous but Marie if left unchecked could be abusive about it. Not letting Callie go out or getting real passive aggressive like "wow why did I even save you if you never want to be home with me? No it's fine go, you don't care about me anyway"

How he almost cries bc he knows deku and all light just encourage each others martyr complex and its putting deku in dsnger.

Why I like them

Ngl, I have a fondness for ambitious and cold characters who are willing to achieve their goals by any means necessary…but Griffith stands out in that he serves as an absolutely BRUTAL deconstruction of this trope/archetype, even before the Eclipse.

Why I don’t

It’s pretty obvious: he r——d Casca into insanity in front of Guts and tainted their child. And bear in mind, unlike sacrificing the Band of the Hawk, this action did nothing to get him closer to his kingdom. It was just an atrocity he committed out of spite and sheer evil. Tbh, that sort of destroyed my ability to see him in a positive light. There are moments where I flat out can’t even LOOK at pictures of him without wanting to cuss him out lol

The scene when he’s bathing in the lake after what happened with Gennon. I think it’s a good example of his duality

The Golden Age in the manga (until volume 13. I’m never getting over that.)

Favorite line

During this exchange with Gennon, it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t completely mean what he says. He says he feels nothing towards Gennon, but we as the audience know how his experience with Gennon truly affected him. And I think that highlights a very important aspect of his character: what he says is how he would LIKE to feel but it doesn‘t reflect how he TRULY feels. Ideally, Griffith would like for his emotions and humanity to not have an influence on him as he tries to gain his kingdom. But in the end, he was an emotional person, whether he liked it or not. This desire to completely bury his self-doubt, guilt, trauma, and emotional attachment towards his men (Guts specifically) is part of what led him to becoming Femto.

skybound bad end au thoughts

this is more or less copy pasted from twitter. edited slightly

warning for mentions/thoughts of suicide

this is EXTREMELY depressing you have been warned

ive been thinking about it. as a fic, in written form, i think there really wouldnt be much of a story. it Is the "end" after all. it would be mostly a snapshot of jays life after the events. and it would also be the most miserable fic in the tag. like. it would be. pure misery. supremely depressing and without even an ounce of hope.

at that point everything thats done to him is just punishment or an act of senseless sadism. depends on the perspective. jay would see as punishment for the things hes done. just karma.

in this bad end au, i think jay would just be a toy. a little plaything for nadakhan and his crew. and delara. he doesnt have much purpose now but why not just keep him as entertainment. until the doll breaks. if he hasnt already. they can just throw him away then

i think it would be best if it has a open ending......... this bad end has the potential to go REALLY dark. but like too much doesnt taste that good you know? like... easily it could go the suicidal route. or jay being literally broken to the point hes killed. too dark you know?

but like..... i like there to be some hints of possible paths to jays ultimate fate.... its ambiguous but the setup is there.... the beginning signs... like...

jay becoming ill. sick from who knows what thing that has been done to him. an infection? exhaustion and overwork? its not much but its small things like that. a persistent cough or headache. the flush of a fever. his physical health is down the gutter

jay wishing things would end. entertaining a distant thought while he looks over a ledge miles above water. waving the idea away but the feeling of it doesnt truly leave.

maybe hes denying himself of that escape on purpose. that he doesnt deserve a reprieve. hes got a massive guilt complex that pins him there, on that ship, suffering because he knows he deserves it. a part of him is a coward still too. hes scared of taking the leap of the ledge.

the things jay feels are so complicated. he wants to die, hes scared of dying, he doesnt deserve to live but he doesnt deserve to die. he deserves to suffer. he trapped until someone else takes him out of his misery. but no one will.

its much more fun forcing him to dance till he falls apart. hes going to at this rate. a part of him wants to. but another part tells him that he shouldnt. hes the only one left of his friends whos still here. that part of him tells him that he has to live for them

complicated complicated feelings. maybe another part of him hangs on because nya is still here. sorta. a tiny part of jay thinks maybe he could save her at least. that part of him is crushed tho. because he really cant. he has no way. he has no wishes and no powers. utterly hopeless

he has to watch "nya" dance with nadakhan. like the two are on their honeymoon. he has to watch nadakhan take nya all for himself. like a precious prize. in his hand like a trophy. it hurts most when she decides to play with jay herself tho, when she toys with his heart. when she hurts him herself.

theres no good way this can end. theres so many ways that this can end. each and every one is as miserable and hopeless as the last. jay has no hope of happiness whatsoever.

jay may not necessarily die soon. but chances are he will die on that ship. eventually.... someone or something will kill him one way or another. but you dont get to know how or what. theres no good way to go though.

man this is the most depressing thing ive ever written lol. jay would be so depressed lmao.......... i did say this would be the most miserable fic. theres something fun about entertaining this bad end tho...... like everything sucks.... but vibes.... love misery.

some time back i started thinking about the emotional significance/symbolism of mks fucking jacket. this jacket specifically.... was given to him by mei........................... it was her gift to him....... its his new look in s3... but it ended up burning the same way as mei did......... MEIS JACKET WAS LOST LIKE SHE WAS................ it burned as mk tried to save her..... she continues to burn in order to save him.... ough.......... fuck i might be reading into this too much BUT. THERES AN ATTACHMENT THERE........ its symbolic...... THIS JACKET REPRESENTS OF BOTH THIS SEASON AND MEI. AND HER FRIENDSHIP WITH MK....... IT HAS GREEN!!!!!!!! HER COLOR!!!!!!!!!! AND RIGHT HERE. IN THIS MOMENT. IN THIS GIF. IN THIS SCENE IN WHICH MEI HAS BEEN CONSUMED BY FLAMES, ENGULFED IN RED AND BLACK, LIKEWISE THE SAME FUCKING THING HAPPENS TO HIS JACKET..... THE GREEN IS GONE. SWALLOWED UP BY RED HEAT.. and by the end, its gone... and then so is mei..... this is such a gorgeous fucking transition of a scene and im absolutely obsessed with it............

and also actually... i extended these jacket symbolism thoughts to the previous seasons also and... didnt mk stop wearing his monkey king jacket...? yall, you know, in the same season that he didnt have his powers? in my personal opinion i felt like monkey king is much less of a mentor figure in s3...... that he has ever been. s1-s2 is all about mk being sun wukongs successor.. which matches the jacket.... My thoughts on What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?

The very title of the episode sends a shiver down my spine. And this is where we’re going to start.

~ long post under the cut ~

A year ago, I wrote this post as an attemp to dive into one of the most important traits in Doctor Strange’s personality: love. Stephen is a being made of love, made to love, no matter which interpretation you have when you watch Infinity War. If you don’t read comic books, you’ll understand the moment you meet Donna. You’ll begin to understand how her death reshaped his entire subjectivity out of fear of failing, being powerless and unable to control everything around him (especially death), thus the arrogant and yet a disaster of a man we all know.

Where do I even start? Stephen loved her sister deeply and felt responsible for her death. And then, slowly, he also lost his parents and his brother. He fell in love with Clea but he also pushed her away. He loved Zelma platonically and lied to her, which was enough for them to break their bond. He felt attracted to Kanna but screwed things up, even though they remain friends. He was forced to kill the Ancient One, the only father figure he had ever since his father died. And lastly, the only person who would never leave his side... also left. Yes, even Wong. Stephen has SO much love to give but he’s also afraid because he’s cursed. He truly believes his love in poison. And would you look at that? What If really delivered a story where this is actually true.

What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?

The level of understanding when it comes to the character is... inconceivable. What could possibly reshape Stephen into following a dark path but love? The very premise of the whole episode. This is so much more than a love letter. This is literally too much, in all senses.

Fine, let’s begin.

What if the best of intentions has very strange consequences?

No. You used the word “strange” for the pun but this is not the word. Nah-ah. I’d go with ATROCIOUS, for starters. Things are gonna escalate so quickly, my friends.

Seriously, tho? Christine is SO SO SO SO beautiful, they’re so cute together. I have this feeling that MCU!Stephen was quite toxic because of his arrogance and this is why they didn’t work out. But WhatIf!Stephen???????? He’s always praising her, teasing her in a healthy way, respecting her and listening to her. HE TRULY LOVES HER, I’M GONNA CRY ALL OVER AGAIN, PLEASE, NOT THE CRÈME BRÛLÉE, PLEASE

I’m going to leave this shot here because we need to go back to it later. Hold that thought.

And bonus points to “Yeah, well, I would call that quite remarkable.” / “Well, I would say the same about you.”

GODS. THE PAIN. STOP THE PAIN.

So in this reality, Stephen didn’t caused the car accident because he was checking his phone while driving. Also it was not the reckless attempt to pass the truck. Well, maybe it was the consequence of this act? The fact is, the car behind them loses control, which makes them crash. Does it matter? We’ll learn later that no, it doesn’t.

And yep... Christine dies. Have you noticed the shattered heart? Ah, the pain only gets better and better.

Again, Stephen blames himself. More than anything, this is so important because Stephen is all about guilt. We still need to meet Donna so we can add yet another layer of guilt. But the feeling exists. This is what corrupts Stephen’s heart and soul in all his iterations. This is what makes him the character I love so much. I love this SO. MUCH. In addition, his stubbornness to accept his condition. Man won’t take a no. This, this is Doctor Strange in character. Stop complaining about NWH Stephen, it’s pathetic.

Okay, “grief-stricken”, Stephen found the Mystic Arts and became a sorcerer. That’s when he learned about the Time Stone, the Eye of Agamotto and Dormammu. Nothing changes, he saves the universe. But time does not heal his deepest wound.

I love Wong so much. Every time Wong does something, the world is healed. Really. We’re going back to him as well but for now I’ll just leave this shot.

BUT STEPHEN, DOING SOMETHING RECKLESS? HE’D NEVAH

Aaaaaaaannnnnnd then he did.

He goes back in time. It’s been two years since he lost Christine. I think he reacted pretty nicely, despite the circumstances. Now let’s go back to that shot I said I was saving for later.

Stephen is so light-hearted here. Also, during the first time he lost Christine, he had no idea what “The Price is Right” was. He knows now, which means he probably tried to learn more about the show because of her, because of grief. HAHAHA MORE PAIN

AND THEN HE

AND THEN SHE DIES AGAIN

AND THEN HE KEEPS GOING BACK IN TIME

AND SHE KEEPS DYING

AND THE MUSIC

AND HIS VOICE

AND HE TRIES TO CHANGE FATE BUT IT CAN’T BE AVERTED

HE EVEN TRIES TO STAY AWAY FROM HER LIFE BUT SHE DIES ALL THE SAME, WHY

AND EVERY TIME THEY CRASH, HE FEELS THE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL PAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, WHY

I’M-- *ugly sobbing noises*

Apparently, not.

And this scene when he simply... closes his eyes before she dies again...?

This is where this episode had me in endless tears. It got me the four times I watched it. I’m dead serious.

Okay, so, next the Ancient One appears to Stephen, explaining that Christine’s death is an Absolute Point in time. It cannot be changed. Stephen needs the accident to become the Sorcerer Supreme and defeat Dormammu.

And this is where Stephen starts his journey into darkness. “Nothing is impossible, you taught me that. I only require more power.” Disobeying the Ancient One, Stephen then travels in time, seeking the Library of Cagliostro. Now, if you’re not aware of that, Cagliostro was a sorcerer who studied time in comics, and later became Sise-Neg (there’s a recent post on this because of the new Defenders run). It’s funny to think that Sise-Neg also destroyed the world when he became a god, however he grew past his pettiness and remade reality. Stephen did not possess such power, as we’re about to see.

PS: “Stop torturing yourself, Stephen.” Naur but he should use this line like a mantra. Especially comics!Stephen.

Not gonna lie, tho. This place reminds me of the Temple of the Vishanti from T&T (of course I was going to insert T&T somewhere, it’s me).

And of course they’d go for a pun with his name haha. I don’t know how to feel about this, tho. I feel like the episode is too heavy and dark for comedy. But it is what it is.

Okay but why some books are in cages??????????? And wow, it seems Cagliostro also gathered knowledge about several fields of magic.

And then Stephen learns that, in order to break an Absolute Point, he needs to absorb more power. This is when I went “oh-oh, here we go”.

And for real, is this Shuma-Gorath? Why are they keeping his name a secret? Is this the same creature from the first episode with Captain Carter, right? RIGHT? It has to be Shuma-Gorath.

Of course he tries to be polite and ends up all hurt haha. O’Bengh warns him about love but he will not listen. “Love can break more than your heart. It can shatter your mind.”/ “Is she worth the pain?”. Please, this is Stephen. He eats pain for breakfast.

Also, also, let’s take a break. We’re finally going to get monsterf0cker tentacle-lover Stephen Strange. It will cost us everything but here we goooooooooooo (yes, I went frame by frame for your more obscure fanservice needs)

Gods, I love this sequence so much it hurts. Okay, here we go.

AND HE STOLE THE CAPE??????????? AND DREW THE LINE ON BUGS??????

Fanservice. Fanservice everywhere. (low-key the reason I also waited to write this review, I wanted to enjoy this part so badly but I was too sad for that lmao)

Okay so. O’Bengh is suddenly OLD and DYING, until we realize that Stephen spent CENTURIES absorbing mystic beings. CENTURIES. WTF STEPHEN. He had nothing in mind but the goal to save Christine. And people wonder why he went insane???? I’m sorry, O’Bengh, but I can’t take you serious when you still call Stephen Sorcerer Armani. Oh, and also because you watched him absorb beings for centuries in silence lmao. But I guess I have to because you said that Stephen is split in two since the Ancient One cast a spell on him, splitting the timelines and making them exist in the same reality before he could travel back in time. I know, it’s complex. Anything for the plot.

And now good!Stephen has an evil!twin who wants to absorb him back in order to become whole and break the Absolute Point. Cool.

I said I wanted to talk more about Wong because I think people are not talking about him enough. Wong is so important in this episode. He’s the one who’s trying to heal Stephen after Christine. He’s Stephen’s anchor.

Also, THEY FINALLY USED A SPELL WITH THE NAME OF THE VISHANTI. HOORAAAAY

So, for the sake of our understanding, I’m addressing the characters as evil and good!Stephen. Let’s go. Evil!Stephen summons good!Stephen and gods, he still holds such a strong grasp on me... unbelievable. THE DEEPER VOICE BENEDICT USES???? PLEASE, DIDN’T WE HAVE ENOUGH?

Imagine his strength to hold so many beings inside him, fighting to control him. BRO, THIS IS TOO TOO MUCH

Fine, I’ll not post SS about the fight because I’d be here all night long but I WILL say this: NOT CLOAKIE!!!!! NAAAAAAAAAAUR

Also if you ask me if I recognize any of the spells? Maaaaybe the Flames of Faltine, the not-so-crimson Bands of Cyttorak and a little trick Magik does with her portals. That’s how far I go.

I’ll not comment on the “seducing yourself to stay in the trap”. I will not. I’ll just say that the first person Stephen thought of when “Christine” was talking about the crème brûlée was Wong. That’s it.

And finally evil!Stephen absorbs good!Stephen and releases... UNLIMITED POWER (I love when the stone goes red as if it was bleeding aaaaaaa)

And when Stephen says her name and the other monsters’ voices echo “Christine”, AAAAAACKKKK

AND OF COURSE CHRISTINE WOULD FREAK OUT, BRO. LOOK AT WHAT YOU’VE BECOME BECAUSE OF YOUR TWISTED LOVE. I’M NOT DOING FINE.

Oh, but it’s too late anyways because Stephen broke reality haha. This scene is interesting because Stephen is the only one who sensed and/or talked to the Watcher until now. I read an interview that the Watcher kinda showed up but it’s also about Stephen’s keen senses. Bit of both, let’s say. Still, man, 616-Watcher is not that cold. 616-Watcher would watch this and say “how about I intervene anyway?”. WhatIf!Watcher is brutal.

The way Christine looks at Stephen one last time also KILLS ME, DESTROYS ME, BREAK ME INTO A MILLION PIECES.

And this is where my soul left my body.

This is how they end the episode. This is how you leave me speechless and with teary eyes. This is how you give me a whole existential crisis.

This... this was brutal to watch. Really.

What can I say after this? I’m used to reading painful things when it comes to Stephen. Aaron’s and Cates’ runs are heartbreaking on so many levels. Hickman’s New Avengers is not easier. Coincidentally, What If? Magik Became Sorcerer Supreme and The End. And now Death of Doctor Strange. And yet, after everything I’ve been through, I’d never expect to watch something so brilliant, so tragic, so heartbreaking and unexpected in the MCU. Never. This is top tier content and this is my favorite character with SO MANY LAYERS and SO MUCH UNDERSTANDING. I can’t put into words how meaningful this whole episode is to me, or how deep it touched my heart and soul.

I’ve been struggling to find the proper words since then, I still can’t. All I can add is, I cried for the 4th time now. This is too, too much, even for Stephen stans. Even for the ones who are used to pain, regardless of which media you’re into: comic books, live actions or animated movies. This is literally more than I can take and yet I’m so, so grateful. The voice acting, gods, how did Benedict manage to create a better Stephen than the one he’s literally playing in real life???????????? HOW

This episode really took the max potential Stephen had to offer as a character, added tons and tons of layers based on his grief, depression, arrogance and need to control everything and created a tragic masterpiece. In 7 years of being a Doctor Strange fan, I've never read or watch something that could go this deep into the character. The closest I can think of is Mr. Misery and the metaphor of Stephen's depression. This is a whole new level of respect and understanding. This is more than a love letter. This is peak maestry. It’s perfect, it’s heartbreaking, it’s... gods, I can’t.

Sorry for dragging you until this far. Before I wrap up this review, I just wanted to remind you all that Stephen will appear again, he will smile again, he will be surrounded by people again. So this is not the end. It was painful but be brave. We still have a few more steps to take.

how he cares so deeply about his friends, but is physically incapable of verbalizing it in any way 😭 his emotional repression should not be this compelling, and yet. i find myself analyzing his every microexpression in scenes because i want to see inside that crazy head of his.

john & rodney; bing and bob of the stargate universe. “I guess in my own way, I sorta love you,” is the sentiment underlying all of their interactions. also, the taking turns saving each others lives thing. and rodney bringing out the nerd in john. and the way their relationship is so subversive? u would think the nerd character would be panting over the jock, just happy to have a friend like him, but with john and rodney, i feel like rodney has a lot more power over john than even he realizes (thinking trinity and miller's crossing) and i love that.

random headcanon

he was raised in a conservative catholic household. this may raise some eyebrows, but i see it in his GIGANTIC guilt/martyr complex. i have never seen a character more willing to die for others at the slightest provocation. also, the way all the alien's that read his subconscious say that he "tortures himself every day" over what he perceives to be personal failures screams catholic guilt to me. that, and his biggest fear is himself. not to mention, that boy does not know how to function when he's being hugged. casual intimacy does not seem to be in his lexicon, outside of actual sex.

also, he had feelings for holland, but was content to go the rest of his life never saying anything or doing anything about it. something to acknowledge about himself once, then bury and try to never think about again. but then holland died. so it didn't matter anymore, anyways. (in vegas, john had feelings for the nurse he disobeyed orders to try and save and PARALLELING THAT WITH IN CANON EVENTS RE: HOLLAND'S BOTCHED RESCUE ARE JUST TOO GOOD TO RESIST)

OK but what if Kokichi trusted Shuichi enough to in secret tell him his plan and they worked together? + saiouma platonic or romantic is your preference

After Kaede's execution Shuichi is stunned and torn apart. He has Kaito still but a sense of safety is gone and desperation starts to set in, can he even trust Kaito? Who can he trust?

Then Kokichi goes to him when it is late and most are asleep or otherwise not looking to them, "want to help me stop this killing game?" Kokichi asks him his voice low and calm, calculating even. "what?" Shuichi looks at him shocked who was this new person? Kokichi takes him aside to a completely private area.

"I have a plan to end this killing game. I need help and Kaito isn't going to do jack shit to help in the slightest because of his hero complex and everyone else is sketchy right now." he continues to explain but Shuichi silences him, "how can I help?"

And so their alliance began, they would help each other and watch out for each other behind the scenes while pretending to hate each other. It is so far perfect and going smoothly. As more deaths go on and happen Kokichi starts amping up his villian persona more and more in an attempt to hide his true feelings. The lies get bigger, more risky and more insane to the point that Miu decides to try kill him.

Of course he saw through it and tells Shuichi the next time they meet that night. "Miu is going to try and kill me. I might not be able to execute my plan to manipulate another into killing her before she kills me." Shuichi nods listening closely and looking around cautiously, "if that ends up happening I want you to do the plan on your own-" "wait what?!?" he screams before both he and Kokichi slap a hand or two on his mouth shushing him.

"I know it's bat shit insane I get it but it'll be our only option if I die. I hate that it might come to that but please do it if it happens OK?" he uncovers Shuichi's mouth who only nods a bit silently.

Kokichi ends up being able to convince someone to kill Miu and goes full villian persona scaring everyone extremely expect Shuichi who was expecting it. As it continues on Shuichi ends up putting himself more and more into the plan now that Kokichi is full villian and everyone at that point trusts him.

By the time that Maki tries to kill Kokichi tho Shuichi breaks the plan running at full speed to shield him taking hold of him, "please don't kill him!" he screams at her holding Kokichi close despite the poison going through his veins. "Saihara what the fuck is this?! I thought you hated him more than anyone else here!" Maki is shocked and Kaito runs to get an antidote, Shuichi smiles laughing a bit mirroring Kokichi.

"it's a lie!"

It doesn't take long for the last part of the falling apart plan Kokichi gets him successfully to the location where Kokichi would die but Shuichi is starting to resist against it refusing to kill him. “Shumai. I know this is going to be hard for you but listen we’ll be able to save everyone else from this living nightmare.” Shuichi starts breaking down crying, “but-but Mochi that’ll mean I’d loose you. Like I did Kaede I'll be all alone you're the only one here I can trust and-and..." Kokichi pulls him into a hug holding him close, "you won't be alone Shumai. It's not like Kaede's death she made a mistake and died while being full of despair. I am actively doing this for the rest of the group."

As they talk trying to work off the nerves they don't know that someone else is listening. Quickly Kiibo goes and gets the remaining members of the class as Kokichi is on the hydraulic press. Kaito restrains Shuichi with little effort from pressing the button to activate it Shuichi just letting it happen being highly distressed by having to do the action via the plan.

Kokichi is also restrained and put into a separate room as they start interrogating Shuichi who clams up refusing to speak. In guilt or fear they can't tell. When Kaito mentions asking Kokichi Shuichi snaps out begging them not to hurt him breaking down more in extreme distress trying to get out of the binds they put on him to keep him from attacking them.

The begging is loud enough for Kokichi to hear and be motivated to try and help him getting out of his own binds and running to get to Shuichi. Freeing him and holding him close to his chest as they both cry Kokichi telling Shuichi calm comforting things in his and collected voice.

"I don't want to do the plan any more Mochi I-I can't do it..." "I know Shumai I shouldn't of pushed your limits I'm sorry." he runs his hand through his hair petting his back, "I can't-I can't loose you... Kokichi I can't...." he wheezes in panicked breathes, "Shuichi look at me I'm still here. It didn't work out. Please breath it's all OK."

The rest of the group is stunned silent as they do this Kiibo even finding it most appropriate to leave deeming it more of a private matter. Once Shuichi is calmed down he still refuses to explain what they were fully planning as to not wanting to betray Kokichi’s trust and also showing where his loyalty is in a way to them all. Most of the class is shocked or appears to be betrayed.

“Shumai you can just tell them. Remember what I told you.” Kokichi sighed putting a hand Shuichi’s shoulder “Go with the majority it’s safer” "exactly so please just once go against someone you care for."

Shuichi explains their plan as Kokichi leaves smiling weakly. Shuichi doesn't notice at first but when he's done explaining he notices and suddenly has the object permanence of a toddler as he freaks out running around in a attempt to find him before he does something rash. Kaito follows him trying to help him find Kokichi but they both don't succeed leaving Shuichi to call out to Kokichi with every name and nickname they have for each other in a slightly begging way even.

He passes out from the strain on his body and mind. By the time he wakes up his mind has cut out the whole day's events and is only confused by Kokichi or Kaito not being there to wake him up or greet him. When he asks Kiibo what is up with them Kiibo can't exactly tell him as he was forbidden from doing so by everyone else. Shuichi doesn't stop going to Himiko and Maki asking them but they seem hesitant when they say that they are just hanging out somewhere.

He ends up finding out that he can't seem to find Tsumugi to ask her if she knows and Himiko ends up snapping telling him that Kaito and Kokichi continued the plan and did indeed find the master mind. At the cost of their lives. The news hits Shuichi like a bus as the rest of them try to comfort him now knowing how close he was to both of them.

He can't take it and runs to where they planned to let Kokichi die and sees that it wasn't a lie. He was dead, gone. As Shuichi goes to it he finds Kokichi's scarf and a small note.

"Sorry I had to leave you behind. Don't forget about me my beloved Shumai. - your supreme leader Mochi"

since u mentioned him in particular, lemme talk abt part 5 pol first (:

polnareff p5: i actually did like seeing him but i wish he was more relevant or at the veyr least we got to see him longer before he got nerfed by the second worst jojo villain. regardless of that tho i did like seeing how he matured even if it does make me sad cause you dont see any of his silliness/lightheartedness anymore..it's all serious and grim..): which i do mostly attribute to the fact we only see him in part 5 in the midst of a tense battle but still. i do think it goes to show pol lost some of the humor he found in the world...... ):

giorno: i understand why ppl have beef with him but i love giorno he is such a funny little guy <3 he's this insane teenager with a god complex but he's not an asshole about it like say his dad was. he's just very confident in his own abilities even when he has no experience (like when he fought bruno lmao). i do like the first half of giorno more than the second half tho if only cause the second half seemed to forget he was a kid and let him act as such. and to an extent i get that like gio is an abuse survivor ofc he's gonna act "mature for his age" but he still did that while being silly funny in the first half but in the second half they drained that away. honestly im sure this is more a david pro problem than a giorno problem im sure if i read the manga it'd be better. but as it stands this is it. anyway i love gio i think he's fun at least my perception of him

bruno: i do like bruno but he's not my favorite admittedly (not for any particular reason he just didnt scratch my brain the way other characters did). i do like him tho he feels very cautionary-tale to me...he has such a warped world view due to being involved in gang shit since he was a kid and it hurts ): you can see him try and save his past self in his early interactions w narancia...some part of him knows he was dealt and unfair card. but other than that tho he does deliberately lead ppl to the gang like fugo and abbachio (not necessarily to hurt them but really fucked up how some people he thinks are better than this life and some he drags down with him...) and i just think that's interesting to think about. he's not a saint but i think he thinks of himself as one or at least it's what he's trying to be. god his catholic guilt has gotta be nuts. he did love his team but i dont think bruno knows how to care for people...he's a soldier, a captain, it's what he's been for so long, i dont think he knows how to stop seeing everything in that lens (we esp see him struggle with this in trying to be a mentor figure for trish because he's used to having like boss authority over the people he mentors, but he doesnt have that hold over trish so he needs to learn how else he can guide her without relying on her Having to listen to him). it's so sad ):

abbacchio: i do not rlly think abt abbacchio i gotta be real. i dont lean one way or another. i think he can be very funny tho. i wish we saw more of his interactions with trish and narancia since theyre the two (besides bruno) he's clearly the softest for in the gang. also i do ship bruabba but i wish ppl would lay off the codependancy angle a bit...yes bruno is definitely abbacchio's crutch but i dont think he (abbacchio) would be happy about that, he hates that he forces bruno to care for him like a child and he hates that bruno is willing to feed that dynamic (not that bruno has like conscious malicious intentions behind that but. again he doesnt knw how else to help ppl without having some sort of authority over them and this dyanmic gives him that so). anyway abbacchio has potential to be the funniest gang member but it wasnt utilized in the story very well. sad!

mista: i also dont think about mista much i am not gonna lie. i dont rlly care abt him not by fault of the narrative he's just not the kinda character i fall for i guess.

narancia: fucked up meow meow! i love naranica he's such a funny guy. he's so needlessly violent and crazy but also he's very cheerful and silly it's so fun <3 his death was complete and utter bullshit. i love how everyone on the team + trish loves him so so much cause its representative of my feelings. he's just so loveable what with his absolute insanity. <3. i dont think narancia is a necessarily deep character but that's okay i dont think every character needs to be. it's enough that he's a funny crazy little guy who loves a good warm meal and swinging his pocket knife around <3 also he's a very loyal and kind friend. also congrats to narancia for having the only good localized stand name (lil bomber is sooo cute and fitting)

trish: TWISH MY BEST FRIEND TRISH so unpopular opinion she should've been the part 5 main character. i know it ruins the joestar bloodline thing but well then maybe they should've put giorno in her situation cause it was a great set up. at the very least she should've been the one to finish off diavolo not GER. anyway god i love her pink <3 anyway i love that she's a scared 15 year old but she's also a tiny bit vain and blunt and just gosh <3 points for depicting a 15 year old girl fairly decently esp in a shonen running in the 90s. she's very sympathetic i feel like u rlly feel for her. she just wants to be safe. she just wants the gang to be safe she didn't ask for them to die for her. she didn't want anyone to die for her. i think endlessly about her survivor's guilt and how she and polnareff bond over it. ugogugh. i love her stand too i really really really wish we got to see more of spice girls UGHH.

fugo: FUGO MY BEST ABSOLUTE FRIEND FUGO. i love fugo i have loved him since his lil giorno team up episode with man in the mirror i love him so bad and purple haze feedback really just sealed the deal god FUGO <3333333333 I LVOE YOU FUGO. FUCK. god idk i just love his duality a lot...he wants to learn how to be gentle but all he is is sharp corners and fire and angry angry angry angry at his family angry at bruno angry at himself angry but they're miles away form who he is can he really change enough? can he even change at all. also he loves bruno and he loves the team and he wants to be better for them but ssnjsjnsd;s; UOGUGHGHHHHH FUCK GOD AR EYOU KIDDING ME. i love purple haze and the whole conflict fugo has with him and how it relates to himself...also i love protecting my own experiences and . i guess trauma? for lack of better word i love projecting my own trauma and experiences onto him because. well. similar setups is all i wall say </3. anyway i love fugo i love that he returns to the team and fights for his redemption i love him i love the bonds he had with abbacchio/bruno/narancia/GIORNO. FUCK. i love him. he's my best friend.

diavolo/doppio: second worst jojo villain behind part 8's. i hate him he's so dreadfully fucking boring. the only reason he's not worse than part 8's villain is at least he was foreshadowed from the beginning. but he's just super lame and not interesting (like pucci) or fun to watch (like kira/dio). i don't even care about the endless death cycle because i do not care about him! not even in a love to hate him way! he does not matter to me. so fuckign stupid

((Spoilers for up to chapter 125 of JJK))

I’ve been wanting to tackle this topic for awhile now and have touched on it super briefly before, but I want to explore what kind of dynamic itadori and fushi have, the effect it has on them, and how the events of the shibuya arc will possibly impact them in future arcs. In previous instances I feel I had a stronger ground to stand on in terms of things like “evidence” and things like that, but this time around will have a lot more speculation and personal interpretation than usual.

So, with that being said, let's begin by first talking about fushi’s decision to save itadori in the first arc. We know now that it was a selfish choice fueled by personal desire and it completely ignored the potential consequences that spring up later in the manga. Now, fushi isn’t dumb, he knew exactly what he was doing: right before gojo swoops in the save the day he was readying to kill itadori. But he doesn't, and ends up thrusting itadori into a world where he will be forced to kill people and be bombarded with constant suffering and he knows this. And that’s why it hurts when itadori says that he’s a reliable, nice person. Fushi might have saved itadori, and itadori might be grateful for that, but later effects of these actions are MASSIVE and are a result of fushi’s decision.

The guilt of being the person to put itadori in this position would eat fushi up inside and lead him to want to protect itadori as much as he can, to make sure that him keeping itadori alive isn't in vain. The same goes for itadori but in a different kind of way. Itadori was saved by fushi, so i think it’s only right that he wants to keep fushi safe as well, as a show of thanks and appreciation as well as also making sure that fushi’s actions weren’t in vain. They protect each other and save each other and look out for each other to ensure that the events that played out in the beginning aren’t something that will be a regret later. But they can’t always protect each other, they fail, and it's important to think about how that impacts how they see themselves and one another given that their dynamic is centered around protection. (As a quick sidebar here i think a great example of this sort of “protecting” is when they both lied to each other that they’d meet up again after they parted from their battle with awakasa in chapter 95. Like,,, they both “”died”” and were willing to die during their respective fights, but said those things to each other to protect one another even though they knew that wasn’t realistic).

Fushi fails to save itadori which leads him to die. That makes him feel guilty and weak asf and so when he finds out that itadori is actually alive, that makes him want to get stronger so that he won’t lose him again (though he was already working towards that). For itadori, there are a few more layers to this: he failed to save junpei, keep sukuna in check, save nanami and nobara, and kill mahito among other things. Itadori wants to protect ppl, he wants to save ppl bc that is the only thing he’s good for. And if he can’t do that, then he is better off dead, at least in his eyes. While it pushes him to become stronger, it makes him fixated on the wellbeing of others rather than himself. I think the one thing left keeping him on the ground is what fushi said to him: that he didn’t regret saving him, not once. However, if Fushi knows abt this failure, if he knows abt this mass loss of life that came abt bc of itadori, will he regret saving him then? We can see this fear best towards the end of the origin of obedience arc after the two learn that sukuna’s fingers are resonating as a result of itadori eating one of them:

What fushi asked itadori in the cursed womb arc is extremely important here because they've now become the people in that scenario. Fushi is the savior of a murderer and itadori is a murderer that was saved. I can’t help but just see itadori thinking, “you saved me and this is how i repay you: with blood.” While both parties withhold this information from each other in order to protect the other, I believe it was also to protect themselves in a way. If fushi regrets saving itadori, then that reaffirms itadori’s self-sacrificing tendencies and will make him want to die even more than he already does. But I think it's important to specify the kind of regret that fushi could possibly feel here: he could regret being the reason that itadori has to suffer or he could regret saving someone who killed hundreds of ppl, or both. Of course he could also have none at all, but I can still see a potential tug-o-war in his mind over how he should even feel abt itadori at this point whenever all this information comes to light. In general though I just think this next period will be extremely hard, not just for them but everyone, having to cope with the responsibility, with the guilt of being the reason for others sufferings and struggling with facing those facts. While the blood may be on itadori’s hands, i think they trickle down to fushi’s, too.

As much as I’d love for them to have this great sit down discussion to sort all of this shit out, i don’t think that’s realistic at all. In fact, i can honestly see them avoiding each other like the plague after this arc (itadori would probably isolate himself from everyone tho tbh), and if they do talk it will be just as brief, if not more brief than before and filled to the brink with tension. I can also see another argument between the two happening as well, but we’ll just have to wait and see where this goes.

The more I think abt this whole situation, the more complex I realize it is, and I kind of curse myself for not being able to elaborate on it better. I'm sort of just barfing out text and hoping it makes sense and that the message gets across. And the more I write about these two the more I also realize how fucked this all is, like everyone feels guilty, everyone feels unworthy and like scum here, even if they really aren’t and it's completely unavoidable. How do you even patch this up? How do you “get over'' this when the events that lead to the mass killing of hundreds of people are so deeply rooted in one event that built the basis for your relationship with that other person? Jfc, and the fact that this is only a *crumb* of the possible ramifications of this arc and probably doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of the manga just shows how fucking insane the shibuya arc really is.

No friends, sokka and katara must return to the WT to rebuild, aang would be busy, toph is very unlikely to enjoy palace life

Probably the most memorable atla fic I read out of dozens and dozens (besides the one where zuko turns into a dragon) is Yes I Am An Animal by SlimJames where zuko loses the guiding light of Iroh and becomes increasingly more evil. Iirc he also gets a Yakuza tattoo and sleeps with a nun? That's beside the point tho

I would never want to undermine the well written redemption arc Zuko goes through but I think a lot of people gloss over the fucked up shit he does to get to the happy well adjusted emo boy. Zuko's not a wet kitten. He's made steps but it takes longer than ~6mo to hammer out patterns of what it means to be Tough and Powerful, a lifetime in the making. Without proper support people can get worse as well as better.

TFATWS episode 1 rewatch commentary

The first scene was so beautiful. I loved that we didn't start directly with the fight sequence. It feels way closer to the quiet beginning of CATWS and I love it so much.

The title is also SO NEAT, music's on point too but hey it’s Henry Jackman the one thing I’m sure it’s going to be great overall is the score.

The choreography is AMAZING, really well shot. Sam shielding himself with only one wing was MA-JES-TIC.

Also, pretty good summary of CACW from the public's perspective, although one of the things I always wanted to see explored was the public's reaction of the fallout of them going into hiding after Civil War (which I'm hoping we'll get to see a little bit of in Black Widow).

Interesting point about the 70 years without having Captain America. Clearly the sacrifice play wasn't enough this time to fuel the nationalism so they went with a squeaky clean John Walker instead.

For the record, still stands that the only time we've seen him chocking someone with his right hand instead of the metal arm remains the Maria Stark assasination. I know it's probably because of blocking and the way the shot was composed but the implications are still bone chilling. God.

Uhhmmmm I'm very ambivalent about the "Hail Hydra". On one hand, it was 100% fanservice and the internet is probably going to go insane over it, and the dead way Sebastian Stan delivered the line. Good shit. Buuut what I love about CATWS is the way Bucky never, ever ever, mouths Hydra rethoric, and even when Pierce tries to gaslight him with it, it's just an empty effort. The Winter Soldier isn't doing anything because of ideological loyalty to Hydra, even if it's product of brainwashing, it's just sheer dehumanization. They don’t need him to say the words because he’s just An Asset. There are people who have put it more eloquently but yeah, I rather go with the fanon interpretation of that aspect.
