Twilight knows Wild's dreams are sometimes troubled. Animals pick up on these things. So on nights when he's awake and he hears the boy whimper, the partial weight of a furry body and a head to pet soothes Wild's scattered soul.

I was inspired by a certain movie scene to draw this a year ago. Twilight is in my opinion the heart of the group. Should another of his kin be suffering, he does anything he can to help. Emotional support wolf included.

Forgive me if the words read a bit odd. Writing isn't my strongest talent and I'm tired.

Was inspired by @smilesrobotlover to draw my Links with their horses. These were supposed to be doodles, but alas, I always make things harder on myself. 😂

Reading from left to right, we have Warrior, Twilight, Time, and Wild. All of them have to be horse girls in some way.

If I was to choose a favorite, I'd go with Twilight. The pulled back lips are great 🤣

random hoh neil (+andrew) kefu headcanons:

the only reason anyone figures out that neil has hearing loss is because they’re at a party and neil is a tiny bit tipsy and he just goes “don’t you wish you could hear as well as you did when you were a kid? like there’s sounds I miss hearing from childhood” - neil heard that people lose their hearing as they get older and he just presumed it happened to everyone and no one mentioned it until you’re like in your 60s

the foxes have presumed for a long time it's probably an adhd thing that neil can't follow more than one conversation at once. meanwhile neil just can't lipread them all

the other foxes (it’s mostly matt and nicky) convince neil to find a way to shut kevin up a bit on court. neil, always willing to fuck with kevin, goes on a seemingly sincere ramble one night about losing his hearing has made him become a better player because he’s ‘more in tune with the game’. kevin takes this to heart and starts musing about the importance of nonverbal communication on court and andrew is pissing himself silent laughter

andrew thought neil was beginning to lose interest in him. neil is appalled when he finds this out and says that andrew is, for once, the idiot in the relationship.

when neil gets his first hearing aids, he removes them every time kevin starts speaking and dangles them at him like it’s a bell

andrew immediately learns sign language. there are lots of things andrew can’t say out loud but he can sign. signing feels more purposeful and less open to interpretation. he starts signing things to people that he wants to say but can’t. (‘thank you for caring’ is directed at nicky over the noise of a busy party. andrew presumes can’t understand or won’t see. he does, but never lets on)

i’m curious if there’s a link here, please tell me in the tags if your inner monologue has subtitles, whether or not you have a hearing or auditory processing disability, and whether or not you learned to read early and read a lot as a kid

(by subtitles i mean that you automatically visualize the written form of the words you are thinking. the way this actually happens can be anywhere from the written form of the words just popping into your head to an actual subtitle-looking area. the only criteria are that 1. you visualize the written form of most or all words 2. it is completely automatic and happens without trying or thinking about it)

#i have hearing loss and auditory processing difficulties and my thoughts have subtitles #i also learned to read at a very young age and by the time i was around 4ish i was reading more than i was hearing/speaking #so while i was still learning my own native language i was learning it through the written language as much/more so than spoken #as for the subtitles #i can't turn them off. i can sort of push them to the back of my mind but they're still there #i can also do the opposite. just look at the subtitles and push the sound to the back of my mind but it's still there #i also realized i automatically try to create subtitles in my brain when someone is speaking to me #i didn't realize any of this was unusual until i took a cognitive psych class #and the fun in-class experiments of blocking visual stores from semantic meaning completely did not work on me #talked to the prof about it and about the hearing loss #and he was like 'yeah it's totally possible your brain just wired itself differently because the auditory route wasn't working as well.' #'we just study the averages but brains are all different and can accommodate for a lot of different things' #brains are WILD man it's so cool #anyway i'm curious if more people do this and if it's specific to hearing loss or not #hoh #hard of hearing #auditory processing disorder #an e original

making an outer wilds au that takes place sometime after the end of the game, can’t wait to inflict it on the world /hj

what i’ve got so far:

-everyone is human(oid. human-like? not sure, still have to iron it out)

-much of the main cast is in college; their field of study mirrors what they specialized in/talked most about in-game (ex.- hal = ancient languages, gabbro = quantum physics, riebeck = ancient cultures + architecture)

-they’re all part of a club called Wild Ventures

-Sunstone + Hal are the newest members

-Gabbro + Sunstone have hazy memories of a life they lived long ago, but don’t recall until one fateful meeting when Sunstone joins Wild Ventures as its’ newest member

-Solanum is there <3 she uses a text-to-speech device and has a walking stick; i considered giving her prosthetics but decided against it

-Gabbro is hard-of-hearing and wears hearing aids; they alternate between speaking and sign

-Gabbro writes poetry

-Gabbro and Solanum are both studying quantum physics

-ironically, Sunstone has a deep distaste for the sun

-like the game, there is like one (1) gendered person in the entire cast (it’s solanum)

watching season 2 of what if has just reminded me that every single Captain Carter feature feels like a verrryyy deliberate attempt to draw focus from Sam Wilson, not just as Cap, but as a character completely. you're telling me that we have a full episode of rewriting Captain America and the Winter Soldier, with every single major character from the original movie (including Bucky Barnes, despite him not being the winter solder in this timeline) EXCEPT Sam? No Sam Wilson? Zero Sam Wilson? He's the only major character we neither see nor get a reference to? For real?

i feel like the need to neatly sort people into "hard of hearing" vs "auditory processing disorder" is a bit... fruitless, at best. having ansd, my hearing loss presents functionally identically to apd - if i were to recover my full range of tones, and really i don't have a lot of loss in that area to begin with, i would still not be able to process speech properly. it would still be the most disabling part of my day to day life, except now i'd be able to hear bugs, i guess. the real toll comes from being unable to understand others, and from a cause that's essentially not treatable even with top notch hearing aid technology. this has lost me jobs, friendships, recreational activities... i won't pretend they're the same thing, but these things are a problem for me because of my auditory processing inabilities. i just don't feel like it's right to sort myself into a separate category of "really" hard of hearing because my symptoms are from a physical rather than psychological cause

#this isnt a take i see super often but it is a take ive encountered in the wild #and i cant be like /mad/ about it because its often from a place of profound deafness #and i agree people with apd shouldnt call themselves /deaf/ #but i genuinely cant find an issue with people with apd calling themselves hoh
