A person did what a person could, whether it was setting up gravestones or trying to convince twenty-first-century men and women that there were monsters in the world, and their greatest advantage was the unwillingness of rational people to believe.

Reading bad reviews people left on Holly just because Stephen King "disrespected half the countries political views." Um. Say you know nothing about Stephen King without saying you know nothing about Stephen King.

200 pages through the new King novel Holly, and I already want to hug Holly as tight as I can and tell her she can do it, and no matter what, I have her back.

Stephen King will publish Holly on September 5 via Scribner. It will be available in hardcover, audio book, and e-book. The synopsis is below, and you can read an excerpt on EW.
The 464-page suspense novel follows private detective Holly Gibney, who first appeared in King’s Bill Hodges trilogy (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch), then in The Outsider, and most recently in If It Bleeds.
Stephen King’s Holly marks the triumphant return of beloved King character Holly Gibney. Readers have witnessed Holly’s gradual transformation from a shy (but also brave and ethical) recluse in Mr. Mercedes to Bill Hodges’s partner in Finders Keepers to a full-fledged, smart, and occasionally tough private detective in The Outsider. In King’s new novel, Holly is on her own, and up against a pair of unimaginably depraved and brilliantly disguised adversaries.
When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just died. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny Dahl’s desperate voice makes it impossible for Holly to turn her down.
Mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. They are the picture of bourgeois respectability: married octogenarians, devoted to each other, and semi-retired lifelong academics. But they are harboring an unholy secret in the basement of their well-kept, book-lined home, one that may be related to Bonnie’s disappearance. And it will prove nearly impossible to discover what they are up to: they are savvy, they are patient, and they are ruthless.
Holly must summon all her formidable talents to outthink and outmaneuver the shockingly twisted professors in this chilling new masterwork from Stephen King.
Pre-order Holly by Stephen King.

Holly Gibney is THE final girl ever
She was figuring that shit out even if she sounded fuking crazy like sure yea obviously this guy is stealing faces and mind controlling people with a sunburn why wouldn’t you believe that
Girl did her research!!! And she was not about to be bested by her lil meat puppet friend
And YES she is a final girl her boyfriend died!!
Now they almost got me with the “who’s terry” but I will not be fooled she’s just funny like that her comedic timing is simply impeccable and she did NOT get scratched bc that wasn’t Jack’s thing and she beat the shit outta not-Claude before he could even try it
She stays winning

Actually, Stephen King refusing update how he writes dialogue is a brilliant choice. I don’t think he’s making a point of it, but he’s for sure embracing a sort of anti-*fellow kids* energy. Plus, I honestly think it’s a neat style of prose I enjoy reading.
Also, it’s canon that Stephen misremembering a neighborhood in New York changed his multiverse so maybe we’re just reading about the alternate universes created because he genuinely thinks that’s how people talk

🌸📚Spring Cleaning Book Tag📚🌸
saw this tag by Jen @ Book Syrup and it looked fun so here we go!
1.The Struggle of Getting Started: a book/series that you've struggled to begin because of its size
Tumblr media
I want to read it so bad, I'm excited to read it dont get me wrong, but like I've been on a short book grind and now big books are intimidating.
2. Cleaning Out The Closet: a book/series you want to unhaul
I just unhauled some books soooooo rn there aren't any, see this post for the books I donated <3
3. Opening Windows: a book that was refreshing
Tumblr media
I read this directly after a heavy literary fiction so a fun gay graphic novel felt like a breath of fresh air and was a great reset!
4. Washing Out The Sheet Stains: a book you wish you could rewrite a certain scene in
so I truly had no idea what to put for this one because of the books I like I cant think of one that I would necessary want to change a scene from...sooooo more slander of this book! (I truly wish I could just let it go and never think about it again)
Tumblr media
I would change so so so many scenes in this book. It has an interesting concept it just could've been executed much better
5. Throwing Out Unnecessary Knick-Knacks: a book in a series that you didn't feel was necessary
Tumblr media
It should've been left at America and Max...I lowkey hate their daughter
6. Polishing The Doorknobs: a book that had a clean finish
Tumblr media
The ending was...a lot, however everything was wrapped up, all questions were answered and it was a satisfying end to the duology
7. Reaching To Dust The Fan: a book that tried too hard to relay a certain message
Tumblr media
Can I put the same book twice in a tag? It was beating me over the head with the vegan messaging
8. The Tiring Yet Satisfying Finish Of Spring Cleaning: a book series that was tiring yet satisfying to get through
This series is still ongoing but I normally avoid series at all costs and I adore this one so I'm chosing to count it
Tumblr media
Steve has my whole heart and I would do literally anything for Holly
