It was funny realizing that Yuri's backstory is extremely convoluted, but had it made me wonder, if you were Yuri's writer. How would you rewrite Yuri's backstory?
There's actually one really simple way to fix his backstory that requires little straight up rewriting: double his age.
Some things that happen after his backstory will have to be reworked or discarded entirely - pretty much all of his support relationships would have to be changed in some way - but the fundamentals of his backstory work infinitely better on a much older character. I can far more readily believe that a 38-43 year old man is as experienced with such drastically different lifestyles than a damn 19 year old, especially with it being the case that so much is pre-baked into his character (aka an older man could more realistically have been all of a street rat, adopted noble, assassin, spy, and gang lord off rip than a teenager could ever be).
Plus it would've given the player an older male LGBT+ option to romance, bumping it up from the... none that we have available in reality lmao, so that'd be a nice bonus

I can’t remember where I heard it and it’s driving me a bit insane and was wandering if you knew since your like a Beatle encyclopedia. Have you heard or know of a quote that said Paul had Linda on a “tight leash” and that she felt unhappy but stayed for the kids ? And something along the lines of Linda not having money of her own cause paul was in charge of all of it ?
Hello nonny! Thank you for the lovely compliment. Unless you meant to say that, like any Beatles encyclopedia, I am full of inaccuracies and unjustified opinions. :)
I must admit I am very skeptical of a lot of the negative takes on Paul and Linda's marriage. They get accused of claiming it was idyllic, but the only times I've seen either of them speak about their relationship it was always in very realistic terms like: "we're not perfect", "we argue", "we have to work at our relationship".
I have heard references to Paul being controlling and tight with money, but not from any sources I considered particularly reliable.
It is my firm belief that despite their unique circumstances, they had a reasonably normal relationship that they worked hard on. Did they sometimes upset and disappoint one another? Of course. Did they go through phases where one or other thought they might leave? Most likely (show me any 3 decade marriage where no-one ever considered leaving). Is Paul a bit of a misogynist? Yes, but within normal parameters for the time he grew up, and with some really remarkable streaks of empathy.
Was Paul monstrous towards Linda? I just don't believe it. Linda doesn't act like someone on a tight leash, in my opinion. She shows confident resistance to Paul's bullshit in plenty of Wings interviews, and his response is not (as far as I can tell) that of an abuser who will get her back for it later.
As someone who has also chosen to prioritise caring for my kids over my own career goals, Linda is a bit of a hero of mine. I object to the way her choices are treated (in some corners of the fandom) as something imposed on her.

Your post about Loustat paralleling Ruby and Christina makes so much sense. I haven’t rewatched lovecraft in a while though what specifically would you say makes them relate?
Whew! Where to start. I feel I probably need to play catch up for Ruby/Christina's dynamic on Lovecraft Country because that's probably the one fewer people who follow me are familiar with so... This is Ruby and Christina:
Tumblr media
Ruby is a rock/blues singer in the 1950's Chicago, and like our man Louis, she has done most of the work holding up her family. Also, like Louis, a lot of the challenges she faces are deeply racist, and because of her gender full of misogynoir as well, more than today because of the past setting of the story... Her shade and body type also come into play when compared to what her sister, who is lighter-skinned and thin could get away with in life. Christina is the daughter of the leader of a centuries-old white male-dominated magical cult, in which she is clearly the most talented in wielding magic but she has no say-so and cannot inherit the same privileges because of sexism, something that is *always* intersected with racism which that cult has deeply ingrained traditions in. Despite it all, these two fall in love. The biggest similarities I see in Christina and Lestat are...
both... are not just white but white-white blonde hair blue-eyes.
have a measure of self-loathing because of some trauma devolved from whiteness (Lestat stalked and tortured and piled into a bunch corpsed reflections of himself) and (Christina always considered a "protected" possession beneath white men and not an equal because of her gender)
are powerful supernatural beings, a wizard (I just feel that's the more likely adjective over witch for her) and a vampire
are narcissists
woo and manipulate, seduce, their partners into being with them, by lending their own privilege to give them protection or higher status, via whiteness
both are desperate to connect with their Black partner in ways that are impossible because of innate privilege deferential w/in the times they live and their own psychological shortcomings - Lestat opening the relationship and Christina going through the pain of a "lynching" to try to understand Ruby's day-to-day fear
are ultimately toxic to their partner and all other healthier relationships they have - Ruby's family especially Leti and Louis' family, most importantly Claudia
genuinely love their partner but just don't have the capacity or ability due to past traumas, narcissism, and that huge gulf in empathy for their very different lives.
The biggest similarities between Louis and Ruby are.. that they are broken by racism and the responsibilities of existing and maintaining for others while they are invisible in their plight. Both are uniquely beautifully human, vulnerable beyond what any other people in their lives "see" and that makes them both entrancing and vulnerable to the Lestat and Christina.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are both queer interracial dynamics that take a really empathic and honest eye to render well, especially in this day and age. Both of these cultural spaces are riddled with discomfort, judgment, and fear, which mostly lead to dishonest depictions; and self-censoring, but they have subverted that for the most part.
Both I would say have been exceptionally well done and if really looked at critically beyond the chemistry and romance, I do think some interesting wider sociological conclusions/implications could be gathered from them. I think that's in part because of the freedom of the genre space. When it's supernatural or fantastical in some way, often the heavier issues are rendered more honestly. I'd absolutely love to read a dissertation really breaking it down.

Why in your polls do you never include season 7? I get it, you may not like it, but your polls are inaccurate without it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others can't. Give it a chance to be voted on like the rest.
Great question nonny! (And a fair one to ask, I'm pretty consistent LOL 😅)
For some of the polls, like the 'best #X episode' they're related to this year's rewatch: which is planned to run to 6x13. So it makes sense for those to omit anything after that.
But honestly: 9/10 times it's just because I don't like talking about that season 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
I'm always down for a sidebar discussion on how brilliant 7x02 was (The Garden 😭), or how John and Emori were MADE for their leadership roles on Sanctum and I wanted years more of that on screen✨. I really enjoyed Dev's scenes and Echope's dynamic and giving Gabriel a found family... but the rest of the season? Watching live was a really unpleasant experience for me, and I don't get a lot of joy from rehashing it.
There could be S7 polls eventually? And I'll happily participate in other blogs' should they pop up on my feed ☺️ But you likely won't find a lot of that season's content on my page.
It bums me out, and I prefer to celebrate the parts of the show I really enjoyed watching

Hi! I've only read IWTV and TVL and I've seen a youtuber saying that the VC were not intended as LGBTQ+ representation cause sexuality was not that important for vampires and people just read too much into it. I'm at a bit of a loss here, what do you think?
Hey nonny!
Well...
how about we let the characters speak here (a bit)? 🙃 (And this is in no way meant as condescending towards you, I just... really don't understand that youtuber? *laughs*)
Lestat embraced his companion Louis, and they kissed on the mouth, as the mortal musicians put their arms around both of them.
I clasped Louis's arm, gave him a lingering kiss[...]
[...]the lover who had never protected Louis from himself or others
He loves you so much more than he lets on. And others know that Louis loves you, and they see his love, and they’re glad he’s finally here.
"Do you love me now?" I asked. He smiled; oh, it was excruciating to see his face soften and brighten simultaneously when he smiled. "Yes," he said.
And, last but not least maybe...
I begged Lestat to let me stay in the closet, but he laughed, astonished. ‘Don’t you know what you are?’ he asked.
These are only a few quotes. That last one you probably remember, it's right at the beginning of IWTV. And quite the statement, too, quite the play on the known saying, right :))
Anne Rice's vampires always heavily employed (sub)text. Plausible deniability, for a long while.
But as Sam Reid has said so plainly in that one interview... "it's in the book". In the books.
In IWTV we have two men, living together for decades, and adopting a daughter together... yes they may be vampires, but this is still hardly subtle? Lestat has fallen "fatally" in love with Louis, after Nicolas, with whom he had ran away to Paris, together, living together, sharing bed and kissing:
I was still sitting there, too unsure of myself to say anything, when Nicolas kissed me. "Let's go to bed, " he said softly.
There is nothing subtle here. It's quite plain, imho.
Anne set up her vampires with the sex part redirected to the feeding, yes, but then ... LGBTQ+ representation is nothing that should be reduced to that? Imho? Why is it important if the book characters have intercourse with each other? Not that I don't think they'd not enjoy it (and there's something Anne brought into the later books, that... well. Let's just say she made it canonically possible, lol), but why limit representation to this aspect only?
The Vampire Chronicles are in big parts about the longing, and devastation in regards to wanting, needing to be loved. About messily loving, too. About being different. They tackle big philosophical and moral questions, too. Louis and Lestat call each other lovers, how can that not be valid representation? It should not be necessary imho to rip their private bedroom past times open - though that said, I'm very glad and happy with how much NOT subtext they made it in the show, if simply for clarity. But reducing people's identity, love, and sheer lives to sex as the only factor? Naww.
Let's... finish this with a quote from the end of the last book, Blood Communion:
But not before holding Louis for a moment, and then kissing him and telling him low in French that I loved him and always had.
That kiss... is after they dance in a huge ballroom.
The show... took that up already. And I think that's beautiful.

How long have Ben and kadiff been dating? Last I heard ben was going through a divorce with mark which seemed pretty sudden and strange. I've always thought they were cute together. I really wanna know what went wrong and at the same time I'm so happy for Ben rn cause he seems really comfortable happy and I'm dying to know about all the details in regards to his new relationship with kadiff
putting this under a read more to save the normal/non-nosey parts of the fandom from seeing this slightly stalkerish post
tbh with you, the break up wasn't strange or sudden, you're just normal so you weren't paying attention to the minutia of a celeb's life the way losers with hyperfixations were. i'm very happy for you, really.
anyway, the break up happened in three stage: The Separation (2019), The Split (2020), and The Divorce (2022ish).
ben and mark had already been living separately for 6 months when the pandemic came along and forced them back into the same household as a lockdown bubble. (idk how long you've been in this fandom, but at the time we were all soooo shocked they went into lockdown together because we thought The Separation™️ was a split lol). The Split™️ happened pretty shortly after that. by october that year ben was no longer hiding the break up in interviews, but didn't want to talk about it other than saying "i survived it".
idk what caused the initial separation, but during the separation period there were a few rumours circulating in the uk theatre scene about mark' cheating 's behaviour (whether or not things like rumours/blind items are legit is another convo i think lol). "i survived it" does deffo make it seem like it wasn't a happy break, as well as a later interview where ben's asked about his marriage and instead deviates to talk about james & kerri and how unselfish their marriage is (with the implication being his marriage was selfish).
but let's be real, unless ben has a personality transplant and starts doing personal life interviews we'll probably never know for certain haha. mark certainly isn't talking about it.
ben and kadiff were already industry acquaintances (they were both in queers [2017] and met at the table read) and move in the same social circles thanks to overlapping friends like andrew. i'm 99.999% certain they started off as just a fun no-strings fling, then got a little more serious in that little window of non-lockdown in summer 2020 💀💀💀 which is why they were so on-and-off and messy to begin with (we don't talk about the 2019 era, let my boy have his slutty rebound era in peace!!!). they had a few stops and starts like that before starting Dating Properly after they filmed TIGTH in 2021. they didn't go official (or as near to official as ben ever gets without his agent putting out wedding press releases) until after the daily mail broke The Divorce™️ news, at which point kadiff stopped hiding ben on his own social media. now we get the occasional exciting flash of elbow, or hair, or the back of ben's head. hooray!
for example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but yeah, you're completely right that they seem really happy and ben's a lot more laid back these days. idk whether it's aging or the relationship or what, but he's clearly a lot more comfortable in his own skin compared to like 2017. i don't think people new to the fandom realise just how much of a big bag of neuroticism he used to be sjfhsjhfs. it's nice to see. i feel like a proud mother (ignore the fact i am a childless lesbian in my 30s).

I'm currently reading a fic and this is the 3rd or so fic I've read post tfatws in which they put bucky in a mental institution against his wishes and they basically keep him drugged because he's "dangerous" and the use it kind of as a punishment for madripoor. Do you think they could "realistically" ( as realistic as it can get in this super hero world) do that to him? and if they did, could Sam di anything? cause when people are in real need of being put in mental institutions, they have someone taking the decisions for them, and it's usually family but bucky not having family then what does that mean? is the government responsible of him? what do you think?
Thanks for the ask!
I actually have a bit in my (yet unfinished 😭) fic about Sam absolutely getting the shits when Bucky gets subjected to involuntary treatment.
The problem with mental health laws and regulations is that it varies a lot regionally, so make sure you look up what’s relevant to your state and country.
Most jurisdictions have laws around involuntary treatment for mental health conditions, which a) gives clinicians powers to enforce some treatment, and b) give some leeway to the patient’s autonomy. Some tilt the balance one way more than the other.
Given we’re speaking about Bucky who’s most likely to end up back in New York, I’m going to go off the New York standard.
Involuntary standard: person has a mental illness for which care & treatment in a mental hospital is essential to his/her welfare; person's judgment is too impaired for him/her to understand the need for such care and treatment; as a result of his/her mental illness, the person poses a substantial threat of harm to self or others.
Emergency standard: reasonable cause to believe that the person has a mental illness for which immediate observation, care and treatment in a hospital is appropriate and which is likely to result in serious harm to him/ herself or others. "Likelihood of serious harm" means: a substantial risk of physical harm to the person as manifested by threats of or attempts at suicide or serious bodily harm or other conduct demonstrating that the person is dangerous to him/herself. or a substantial risk of physical harm to other persons as manifested by homicidal or other violent behavior by which others are placed in reasonable fear of serious physical harm.
The first requires certification by 2 physicians, followed by concordance by the admitting hospital psychiatrist. The second (emergency) plan can be initiated by police officers, Director of Community Services, or other community mental health professionals, followed by concordance by the admitting hospital psychiatrist. That means in all circumstances, at least 2-3 professionals need to sign off on this.
The emergency provision is valid for 15 days while the involuntary standard (the first) is valid for 60 days which I think is similar to what I’ve seen elsewhere. What that means is that the patient needs to be reassessed before the act lapses to see whether they still require involuntary admission and the clinicians apply to court if they do. But the emergency provision grants just a little more power in terms of treatment.
Under the emergency act, treatments can be given “at any time to all patients, despite objection in a case where the treatment appears necessary to avoid serious harm to life or limb of the patients themselves or others”. Under involuntary admissions, patients and their representative can go through the formal objection pathway. (Source) I don’t have enough understanding of American systems to know whether there is enough guarantee of impartiality there, but that is the most important thing here. It isn’t a hard stretch for Shield/CIA/whatever other organisation to have Bucky be brought to a unit they run under the emergency provision, then have their own psychiatrist certify him as needing involuntary admission. The Madripoor incident objectively looks bad on his file, and they can argue that his non-compliance with court mandated therapy means he has poor insight and is now a risk of serious harm to others due to his violence.
Now the next section of the law is relevant for treatment and consent:
Electro-convulsive therapy, surgery, major medical treatment or the use of experimental drugs or procedures may be administered to any patient only upon the informed consent of the patient or of a person authorized to act on his or her behalf after a full and comprehensive disclosure of potential benefits and the potential of harm.
Most likely, given Bucky’s serum, he’s going to need experimental doses of drugs or experimental treatments.
Patients are presumed to have sufficient mental capacity to give consent unless there are facts and substantial reasons to the contrary.
If a patient is 18 years or older but in the opinion of the chief of the service does not have sufficient mental capacity to give consent, authorization for the procedure in question must be obtained from the spouse, a parent, an adult child, or a court of competent jurisdiction.
If it is not clear that the patient has sufficient mental capacity to give consent, an independent opinion about the patient's mental capacity must be obtained from a qualified consultant who is not an employee of the facility.
Note in the real world this generally covers most bases, but for Bucky, the problem starts here.
I think it will be very difficult for an independent assessor to call Bucky mentally incompetent, based on his actions in the movies and in TFATWS. However, that does not preclude clinicians with ulterior motives assessing him as mentally incompetent in order to administer involuntary treatments.
The next problem is, I don’t think Bucky has the legal knowledge to protect himself, and he may already have been subjected to involuntary treatment under the emergency provision. So can Sam (or anyone else) do anything?
I am having trouble finding whether or not the New York courts recognise “de facto” partners as spouses under the Mental Hygiene Law (there are provisions for this in Australia). If not, and Bucky does not have a spouse, parent or child who can represent him, then it’s up to “a court of competent jurisdiction”, which…given the breadth of influence Hydra has, will be of questionable competence. In that situation, he will fall under the guardianship of a legal entity. I am…also not familiar enough with American law to know whether Bucky can assign Sam as his representative (or as we call it in Australia, guardian). He will need to prove his competence in making that decision, and it’s a bit trickier than assigning a family member or spouse, but if it’s formalised then it can be respected. (*) Second corollary here that I’ve read stories where assigned representatives were ignored in hospitals, with same sex partners being ignored in favour of estranged parents.
Now, your question was whether they can “realistically” do that. I guess that depends on what that means 😅
Can they objectively assess Bucky as mentally ill and incompetent? We are talking about objective assessors who do not have a stake in whether Bucky is in or out of institution. The answer is no. Bucky does not have a mental illness that can be treated by being institutionalised, and he is not a risk of harm to others any more than any other free-roving superhero figure in the MCU. If he is willing to talk about the Madripoor incident, he will be able to prove his capacity and logic. He may get criminal charges for battery (and other charges for breaking Zemo out of jail) but that’s not for the mental health professionals to decide 🤷‍♀️
However, can organisations with ulterior motives realistically use the mental health law to put him in confinement? Yes, but it takes a lot of collusion and there are a lot of safeguards against this happening in real life, which may not apply in Marvel’s universe.

hey so how much awareness do the alt timelines have of each other?? I'm assuming that Edward and Brenner(both) are obviously aware of multiple timelines, but like...is El??will??Henry?? When the timeline switch happens, is it like a swap of places or just, like, possession?? Also also, in s4, it's implied that henward did not have the ability to open gates until he absorbed El's powers in s3....so then, his version of the ud did not breach in the real world until then, but then, are there different dimensions that are all being referred to as the ud, or different sections of it?? Or is Edward responsible for the changes in the atmosphere of the ud in each season?? I would love to hear your theories cause i find that you're able to analyse these things in such an accessible way that it is easier to take as a well thought out canon interpretation :)
All good questions, Nonnie!!
Brenner, at the very least, is aware of both. He's got a whole Dr. Who thing going on, which heroesbyler has talked about before. Edward, if we're correct in our who's-who in the Creel house flashbacks, is aware of the timelines via his powers/time exploration. Henry, in NINA, talks about spending years with 001 in the Rainbow Room, as if 001 is separate from himself (001 being Edward, later Vecna). So yes, I'd say that by the time we hit 1979, they're all aware of each other.
As for El, she doesn't seem quite awake yet, One might say (god that was bad haha). She's definitely confused re: the events of NINA, but I don't think she's put it together that there's something weirder going on than just one man having a violent psychotic break because of Brenner.
Will, though...that depends on what he experienced in the UD in 1983. He doesn't seem to be outwardly aware of any time differences, but then again...El didn't even know Henry existed until she was reminded of him. So there's definitely a nugget in his 1983 memories.
In regard to timeline swaps: if we're talking about swaps in present/80s canon...it's hard to say. There are some dead giveaways, like Scott randomly changing houses, Will's eye color changing from being listed as brown to clearly being green, Hopper randomly forgetting that Scott exists at all in ST3 when he met him firsthand in ST1...the list goes on. It's hard to match up which timeline goes with which season, though. It does seem like we're currently in the Henry timeline, given the layout of the Creel house (door in the chess room vs no door/wallpaper color swaps in that same room), but it's difficult to track outside of that.
If we're talking timeline collisions, that's a bit different. I'm of the opinion that certain dates are pinch-points, where the timelines meet and things get messed up. The 1959 murders, the 1979 massacre, Will's vanishing/El (supposedly) opening the gate in 1983, the Russian key of 1985, and now in 1986...all seem to be these pinch-points. They're moments where a version of Henward screws things up in an attempt to break free of whatever prison he currently finds himself trapped in, and by the time we get to 1986...everything is messed up.
It's a bit easier to track in NINA (though not by much I'll admit). At least there we can track hairstyles, handedness, formality, speech patterns, inconsistencies in dialogue, etc...and we're consistently swapping between which of the two timelines we/El are viewing.
Re: Vecna's ability to open gates vs the UD discrepancies...I'd agree with you. The up-down UD, the literal upside-down, has not breached into the RSU until ST4. Before that, all we see are right-left doorways.
Within the right-left UD, there is a distinct biome. The right-left UD has the demogorgon(s) and demodogs, wherease we see none of those in the up-down UD. We also see no demobats in the right-left UD, which are the sole creatures in the up-down UD. They're distinctly different spaces, and seem to be completely separate from each other.
(This is furthered by the distinct separation between Vecna and the Mindflayer, which...we never see the two of them together. Vecna never uses the Shadow, and he's a different person entirely from the guy we see shaping the Shadow. It stands to reason that, at least in ST1-2, they are separate. ST3 is a weird situation with the possessed Billy-Heather pair, with Billy acting distinctly like Edward despite Vecna's UD not being open. There's also a matter of Billy's vision, which is distinctly different from Will's shadow-walking pre-possession. Billy's is closer to a true Vecna vision, which makes me wonder if ST3 isn't Vecna and Mindflayer guy working in tandem. It would explain the change in flaying method, which is distinctly Vecna, and it would tie up the plot hole of how Vecna got El's powers if he's separate from Mindflayer guy.)
At this point, the different versions of the UD are just being referred to as a whole...and that is a telltale sign of our characters lacking the realization that they're entirely different guys in entirely different spaces.
That would neatly explain many of the atmosphere changes/added mental components/etc. that we see between ST1-3 and ST4.

Very quick question, simblr will post things like please tell me if I’m following someone sketchy, so someone goes around to give “heads up” or a “warning” but it seems like it’s okay to do so in some cases but not others. I was wondering when you think is the right time to do that, or if it should stop altogether. I know that’s it’s possible to have different opinions on someone or something (but I feel like simblr can’t fathom that.) Do we let people follow whoever or do we speak up? I guess as someone who’s new here I’ve seen this trend and it can be overwhelming when it comes to who I’m supposed to follow or not. Sorry if this is gibberish, and you don’t need to answer at all. Thanks for even reading!
Hey nonny, this is a complicated question that I'm not entirely sure of the answer.
I think, ultimately, it depends on your personal lines. Because we as people can't take on every issue and try to save the world. Not only is it exhausting, especially if you're part of a marginalized group that deals with this shit IRL to start with, but it's functionally impossible. And we can all only take so much. I have to say that again. We can only take so much. Ultimately, if fighting the so-called good fight on the internet is too overwhelming, you can just stop. In fact, you should. Dealing with shit on here combined with IRL took me to one of my lowest points in my life, and depressingly, it did functionally nothing in the grand scheme of things. Whether that grand scheme of things was in terms of the simblr community or the world a whole, it's the same; I accomplished nothing and nothing changed. Except I feel worse when trying to participate in the community and I certainly have a far bigger target on my back from bigots and anyone else that just found me annoying. It gave me a bad reputation for being involved with "drama" and I've endured so much vile shit being said about me on here that occasionally it makes me nauseous to think about. So was it worth the time and effort spent? Well, no. So from my experience, I would advise not to get too wrapped up in who did what and who you should block and the entire history of who did that stupid ass thing that one time. It's useless.
Instead, measure by your own lines, your own morals and triggers. I personally block transphobes, terfs, racists, etc, that have documented proof in their own words of bigotry, that have not apologized/changed. I don't go into others inboxes to inform them about these people, but I will reblog/boost informative posts with appropriate proof and tag them accordingly, so that my followers can be aware. I certainly do not take random anons as proof and do not share rumors or vague accusations. If you ever feel the need to inform someone about someone else, be sure to investigate fully and know exactly what you're talking about before you do so and provide links/screenshots. Simblr has the collective memory of a goldfish and mixes things up all the time, together with remembering rumors as fact or even completely switching around events. I have over 500 asks in my inbox, and have received "reports" about many, many people here. A good amount of them are inaccurate & misremembered, accidentally about someone else entirely than who they named, have two different stories mixed up, are sourced from bad faith actors (such as bigots), or are completely made up with no source. I've always emphasized reading comprehension, proper research, and taking where you're getting your information from into account, and now I want to stress that even more.
I also do want to emphasize that random people on simblr are not the beacon of morality, nor should they be the judge of who is good and who is bad. We all have bias, misconceptions, and different backgrounds and life experiences. We all have different follower counts and influence in this sphere. And in my experience, simblr's perverted sense of justice more so depends on how well you are liked, who you are friends with, and what you can give the community than the weight of your actual crime. There is a reason why simopeia (just one example, there are many) gets called out every other week and still gets hundreds of notes on posts. There is a reason why certain cc creators regularly rip off the community but are continously overlooked. There's a reason why popular simblrs can act like complete assholes and engage in bigotry and go on unchecked, but others get railed for minor infractions. And there's a reason why minority simmers are criticized far more harshly for their mistakes than their peers, especially the few that have taken up the white savior role.
Simblr is not a court of law. It's social media. And it's a social game more than anything else. Many people have been here for years and have personal history with one another. Some hate each other for being friends with or following someone they dislike. They will hold onto shit endlessly, bring old events up over and over out of context, even consider themselves some sort of online royalty with the power to exile those they dislike to Instagram or Twitter. Whether they find legitimate problematic behavior or just decide to make it up one day, they use and abuse their follower count on a whim without any regard for the effects they might have. It's an ego-fueled game with a fresh & shiny veneer of performative morality. And those that are good intentioned get swept up in it thinking that it is legitimate until they meet the harsh reality that it's nothing more than a fool's errand. It's bitter and sad, and in my experience, the people that endlessly talk about this either lack control in their life IRL & think they can change things in this smaller space (like I did) or simply have made being angry online their personality and can't find a way to break out of it. You do not want to become one of these people, trust me.
These are a lot of words for me to say, basically- judge for yourself, block who you need to, but don't get too wrapped up in it all. I wouldn't go out of my way to tell anyone anything, but if you feel you should (and they've expressed wanting to be told), be sure to do so clearly and appropriately with proof. Above all, protect your own peace. No one else will. If you don't want to engage with it or don't feel you have the mental space, then just don't. I certainly can't blame you for that.

Maybe it's the season but I've been in my feels lately and nothing can scratch it like re-reading your beautiful "Pleased to Meet You" fic work of art.
Which got me thinking - as I know you touched on it in a previous drabble - but I'd love to know how Benny & Frankie's friendship reconciled after it all went down? Is Frankie allowed to mention Gabrielle, did Benny move on? How did he feel once he learnt the truth of the orange bedroom? Was he bitter, or did he understand?
Sorry I know that's a lot to ask but no pressure, I don't expect an answer to any of it! I guess it's my way of saying how much I admire your writing and how you weaved such a rich soulmate-esque fic that it still leaves me wanting more of this universe. Thanks for writing, it's been a highlight of my 2023 to discover it.
Happy New Year for you too! 🎉
Dearest Nonnie 🧡
A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, LOVE 🧡 May you bask and thrive in the safe and soft hues of an orange bedroom of your own 🧡
Your ask is the last I received in 2023, it brought tears of joy to my eyes. I am so thankful to you, so grateful you took the time to reach out and send me those kind words and so fucking happy I gave you something that you enjoy and that brings you comfort. That's all I wish to do, that's the best feeling. And I'm sorry it's taken me so long to answer you.
It's not a lot to ask 🧡 I sincerely hope you’re happy with this (lengthy, ugh in 2024 I’m still incapable of brevity, will I ever be? Spoiler alert: probably not) answer 🧡
Prior to Benny's impromptu visit to the Morales-Tourneur household in January, Will had been doing his best to explain the situation to his brother. That Frankie and Gabrielle had met a long a time ago, and had already been in love for a long time when he entered the picture. He did it more in an attempt to mend his brother's broken heart than to excuse Frankie. Benny was never bitter, but he was hurt. Badly so. So all of Will's explaining didn't help much.
What did help was their conversation outside his house on that cold January morning. Even if Frankie provided him with what's probably the world's worst apology ever, Benny still needed to hear him say he was sorry for the way things went down. Benny's a pretty literal guy. He needed Frankie's words: "you were my best friend. You still are."
After that, Frankie took it slow and kept a low profile, following Benny's lead, letting him set the pace to his reinstatement into the group. He began by showing up to support him on fight nights, first in the audience, and he waited patiently (several months) until Benny told him he could join him and Will in the locker room. The next step was their Friday nights.
And in September that year, when Frankie texted Ben for his birthday and received his immediate reply of 🔥🍻🙌🏻  he felt this terrible weight lifted off his (broad) shoulders, replaced by the elated certitude that he'd kept his promise. He'd fixed it. Fixed everything.
Now he does not mention Gabrielle. Ever. Out of respect and decency. Benny's moved on. With several other ladies, first, until he met one he fell hard for and who fell right back for him. But Frankie knows Gabrielle was Ben’s first love. And he recognises the sheepish look in his eyes, the lingering, stolen glances in her direction whenever their shared social circle brings the three of them together in the same place, for parties, birthdays, BBQs… And despite Frankie's restored fondness for his friend, there will always be an abiding ember of jealousy, no matter how sternly he tries to reason with himself that, if it wasn’t for Ben, he would have never found her again.
Gabrielle’s the blind spot in their friendship. But one that, with time, patience, and open minds, they’ve been able to overcome. Our guys went through hell together. They’re smart, good men. Their friendship eventually prevailed 🧡

is ur dni -16 or -17? it’s different on your carrd and your about
my dni for moots is -17/+25 as I am not interested in being moots with people under that age or above (that’s not applicable for any current moots/older moots), but my rules are that -16 should not interact with any suggestive content I write! that’s why it’s different!

Hi! Are there any specific people on tumblr or somewhere else you draw inspiration from for your art?
hello 👋
i think my big inspirations being an artist is in middle and high school! I remember I doodled alot of drawings in math class (rip idk where my sketch book go) and as for specific people.. there were so many people from Youtube, Instagram, DeviantArt and Tumblr who inspire me to draw!
I remember going through 2-3 years of art block because of personal reasons and my mental health wasn’t doing well that time. after being active again on tumblr I finally pick up my pen to draw again! I guess seeing others draw art makes me wanna draw too. art has always been my passion.

Why do you call yourself I am the oyster? Awesomeee blog!
Oh thank you for the ask nonny!
I'm a little bit obsessed with the way John and Paul reference The Walrus and the Carpenter from Alice Through The Looking Glass (the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). Excerpt below, full poem here.
Tumblr media
'I weep for you,' the Walrus said: I deeply sympathize.' With sobs and tears he sorted out Those of the largest size, Holding his pocket-handkerchief Before his streaming eyes. 'O Oysters,' said the Carpenter, You've had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again?' But answer came there none — And this was scarcely odd, because They'd eaten every one."
~~~
There's a great post here from @thecoleopterawithana with lots of quotes and references to "the walrus". (Almost all quotes from John, but the one quote from Paul is a direct denial that there's any meaning to it, which from Paul is almost a signpost saying "important thing here").
We know John was a huge fan of Alice, but Paul was too. He had figurines based on the original illustrations in his garden at Cavendish. And if there were any doubt that "the walrus" is a reference to this poem, John confirms it in this quote:
So then I – but I did look back at ‘Walrus’ and realize – oh. I said, “I am the walrus,” but the carpenter’s the good guy in that story, apparently. I should have said, “I am the carpenter,” but it doesn’t make sense. “I am the carpenter.”
-- John Lennon, interviewed by David Sheff for Playboy (August 1980).
That "the carpenter’s the good guy" really got my cogs turning one day. The carpenter isn't the good guy, Alice has a conversation about who the good guy is, right there in the text, and concludes "they were both very unpleasant characters". (Which makes that "apparently" in John's quote so so interesting. At first, Alice does think the Carpenter is the good guy).
So I developed this head-canon that John and Paul thought of themselves as the Walrus and the Carpenter, and the fans as the Oysters. The bad guy and the guy who seems nice and is actually just as bad. Leading these innocents along a merry path and (metaphorically) consuming them.
(I reckon the Carpenter/Jesus connection probably also appealed to them).
Hence "the Beatles have consumed me" in my bio.
Why so many fics of yours are just au's?
I don't know how to describe it, but loki (Tom Hiddleston's loki in particular) is like a muse to me, he's a source of inspiration, when I think of loki, he's not just some magical superhero/villain in my mind. He's just a ..man. I use him as a picture to write down my daydreams.
But then again, for some reason it only works with Loki, like he has to be loki for me to write him down and I'm not just talking about his face or body, I'm taking about his demeanor, now when I started writing I tried to keep him similar to his canon self but since then I have developed a totally different image in my head and all my Lokis mirror each other, they are always soft, broken but with inherent kindness.
Au's because I feel inspired by him and picture him in different scenarios, there's only so many times I could write the MCU Loki or Avengers loki.
omg we've all made mistakes in our early days of rp, but if you don't mind my asking, what's a mistake you made that you're most proud of because of how much you learned?
god, this is such a good question nonnie!!! jesus, there’s been seven years of mistakes made on my blogs, so trying to categorize them to that point is a challenge and a half! but for one that i was most proud of...
i used to be very afraid of hiatuses. the idea of taking a break, either for a day or a week or a year, was terrifying to me! what if people stopped wanting to write with me? what if i was offending my writing partners by not responding fast enough? what if i lost all my friends because i took a few days off? i stayed on tumblr and continued to try and convince myself that the feelings and stress and worries that i had were insignificant. i forced my way through writers’ block, i wrote during exam season, i forced headcanons and threads through the most exhausting eras of my lifetime, all because the idea of disappointing people was entirely alien to me.
i don’t really know how i figured out it was a big mistake to behave that way, but i remember my friend very breezily suggesting i take a hiatus when i was doing my undergrad thesis. that poor long-suffering angel had to walk me through everything. i even asked how long i should take the hiatus for, was it allowed to happen for a week, was a week too long? i apologized like ninety times in that one post that should really have just said “i’ll see ye in a month besties x” and ended up being a whole essay on guilt and suppressed emotions and all sorts of very complex feelings for one who was just taking a break for a few weeks!
since that first hiatus, about five years ago, i continue taking hiatuses. i don’t think too hard about them. i don’t have a whole board meeting about the nature of the hiatus. one time i took a hiatus bc my country received an exceptionally rare week of sunshine and lovely hot weather and i just wanted to go for walks and play with my dogs and try to convince my dad to stop incinerating steaks on the barbecue. sometimes i feel like we all get this notion that hiatuses have to be for these Very Terribly Intensely Serious reasons, but you know something? sometimes it’s the loveliest feeling in the world to just say “hey. the sun is shining, i wanna hear some birds, and i got some new walking shoes i wanna break in, i’ll see you all in a week!”
the truth is, we want this dash experience as a hobby, and it is!! but there’s a limit to all things. if someone goes running for a hobby, they don’t run every single day for twelve hours! there’s a limit, and it’s not a bad thing to acknowledge that the limit is near, and that it’s time to step back and recharge. i love my little corner of this community, but you guys would hate my guts if i were here constantly without taking a hiatus!
my mother has a saying. “what’s for you won’t pass you.” and that saying is one that i apply to things here. if i take a hiatus and lose absolutely all my followers because of it? who cares! they obviously want something different than what i can offer! i won’t burst into flames, and neither will they! burning yourself out for the sake of a hobby is beyond bonkers, my loves. we wouldn’t do it in any other hobby!
so yeah! my mistake was thinking that tumblr was a lifelong commitment. nothing is a lifelong commitment. every job you’ll ever have will insist you take breaks. daily, weekly, yearly. the same thing applies to everything that we do, and we don’t even get paid for the rest of it. i’m proud, beyond proud, that i was able to see that, and that i had friends who helped me accept that fact and take measures to look after myself! it’s not a typical mistake, but it’s mine!
