We always knew the Todoroki’s had a “tell random people about our drama” gene. It was the HIMURA gene and if Geten ever interacts with the family, he is going to ENCOURAGE it and make it worse

Next thing you know, Shouto is telling the customer in the waiting line behind him at the store how he saved his long lost villain brother and got a terrorist uncle out of it as well. Geten will join him and start talking about the liberation army. Natsuo is trying to drag them both away. Touya is helping Rei put the shopping in the bags while Fuyumi apologizes to the person in line. Endeavor is paying and wondering why he can’t ever get some peace and quiet in this family

I appreciate Hori trying over and over to emphasize that Endeavor doesn't want or deserve forgiveness but I also hate how Rei says that everyone in the family is at fault for the dysfunction and trauma. Like...no, your children were literal children and you were repeatedly abused and sexually assaulted by Endeavor to the point that you had a psychotic break. There's one person at fault and it's the man with a flame beard and giant tits.

I've got to say even though we have differing views on Todoroki Enji I respect the hell out of you for still advocating for Rei to divorce him / take half of everything and still recognising all the Todokids as abused children.

I think Endeavor stans get a bad rep because we see a few vocal ones shitting all over Rei and Touya to excuse Endeav or minimising his child abuse to make Endeav look better. I respect that you don't do that.

As I will always say, as much as I love Enji as a character, I will NEVER sugar code or downplay what he did, Enji is a grown man and he KNEW what he was doing, divorcing Rei and letting her take half is the most he can do that isn't him going to jail, he should count his blessings that he's still walking around free.

Trying to share the blame with what happened to Touya and turning him into like this crazy murder that hates his family IS DUMB AS HELL! Cause you get braindead takes, that Rei manipulates her kids or calling her just as bad as Enji and people not bothering to give Touya sympathy (unless you're like one of his fangirls) cause they made him an obsessed murder to lighten/soften what Enji did, HOW BOUT WE DON'T DO THAT?!?

Unpopular opinion but I never liked the hc that Rei goes back to using her maiden name.

I understand wanting her to divorce Enji, and I do too, but her parents weren’t exactly good people either (considering they literally sold their daughter), and especially after the reveal that the Himura clan have been inbreeding, I DEFINITELY don’t want Rei to go by Himura again should she divorce Enji.

I hope Hori gives her a new last name. Not Todoroki, not Himura, just a new identity for Rei.

You’re really asking why enji is homophobic in many fics? Most of his haters, especially the most vocal ones are projecting their own abusers onto him like crazy. He’s either homophobic or a violent drunk in the fics, and Touya is a protective, loving big brother, basically a saint. Their own version leaks into the canon too and it alters the general perception of both characters for many of their readers or followers too. It’s just how it is

I mean, in fics I get it and even if i don't like it, it's fine. Fics need conflict and Enji's a good antagonist for any Shoto romance fic. People write fic for any number of reasons so if they want to project and work through their own abusive father's homophobia through Enji they're more than welcome to. It's their fic and their expiration.

What I find more frustrating and understand les is the random short tumblr posts that crop up every once in a while that state for a fact that Enji would be homophobic or force Shoto into a marriage for strong grand-kids with zero evidence to back those claims up. The same can be said for when people try and blame Enji for Shoto and Touya insulting heteromorphs.

Maybe it's because I don't read fics that often, but I've never had an issue discerning between fanon in fics and canon material. And I'd never assert something as fact/ a theory without proof to back it up.

I get that people don't like Enji and for people that already hate him reading him as negatively as possible is always going to be the case. First impressions mean everything, and Enji's was of a horribly abusive asshole. It's hard for people to change their mind after that sort of introduction. The only reason I changed my mind of him was because I enjoy that kind of story.

But I just wish people would take the time to actually think a little before compiling every single bad thing a person can do/be and shove onto a character they hate as if it's fact. For a story, fine--I won't read it but, fic isn't meta and it's not always true that the author believes everything they write. OOC fic is a thing and sometimes you just need a character to get in the way of your ship for angst. But for a character analysis it's sloppy.
