My new favorite excuse for not jumping on new trends or bandwagons is 'I'm 30.' No more explanation needed because anyone under 30 just thinks I'm old and everyone over 30 understands implicitly

ELVIS' DEBUT ON TV — 📺 [CBS] The Dorsey Brothers 'Stage Show'
Tumblr media
Elvis with Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey at CBS Studio 50, New York, March 17, 1956 [that would be Elvis' 5th appearance on their TV show, out of 6 total.].
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By December 1955 Elvis had still not made an appearance on national television. His manager Colonel Tom Parker negotiated a deal through Steve Yates with CBS's "Stage Show" for four appearances on the show in January 1956 at $1,250 each and an option for two more at $1,500 each.
On the January 28, 1956, Elvis was broadcast for the nation for the very first time, performing "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Flip, Flop and Fly" and "I Got a Woman".
youtube
[ABOVE: the January 28th 1956 FULL PERFORMANCE]
On Elvis' first appearance on American television, Bill Randle, one of the most influential disc jockeys of the time, was the man who actually presented Elvis Presley to the nation. He said:
"We'd like at this time to introduce to you a young fellow, who like many performers, Johnnie Ray among them, come up out of nowhere to be overnight very big stars. This young fellow we met for the first time while making a movie short*. We think tonight that he's going to make television history for you. We'd like you to meet him now - Elvis Presley. And here he is!" — Bill Randle, Disc Jockey, the man presenting Elvis Presley to America for the first time. January 28, 1956.
After this, things would never be the same, specially the society. Such a good beginning for a year, that special day in a January month! ♥
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
🎞️THE SHORT-FILM THAT NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY (for the general public... at least until now...)
The movie short Bill Randle referred to during his introduction to Elvis was "The Pied Piper Of Cleveland - A Day In The Life Of A Famous Disc Jockey" a short film made by Universal pictures about Bill Randle himself. Filmed on October 20th, 1955, at a concert in Brooklyn High School, Cleveland, it featured the stars Bill Haley & The Comets, The Four Lads, Pat Boone, plus the addition of a little-known Elvis Presley.
The original forty-eight-minute film was supposed to be cut down to a twenty-minute "short" for national distribution, but never made it that far. We're in 2024... 69 years went by since this shortcut was produced but the movie remains unreleased.
There is some dispute over whether or not this film actually exists, although it's said it was shown publicly, albeit only once in Cleveland, and excerpts were also aired on a Cleveland television station in 1956. Marshall Lytle, bass player for Bill Haley's Comets, corroborates the existence of the film in his memoir, "Still Rockin' Around the Clock", but he makes the unsubstantiated claim that Colonel Tom Parker, Presley's manager, bought the film and destroyed the existing copies. According to historians, tho, DJ Bill Randle, before his death in 2004, sold the rights to the film to PolyGram (it has been reported that Universal Studios has the negatives of the film in its vaults).
Much uncertainty about this short film, but can you imagine this film being release in Elvis' birthday centenary celebration? We watched, and listened, on Elvis' 89th birthday a few days earlier this year, to them playing during his birthday celebration at Graceland the original "That's All Right" record as it was cut at Sun Records studio in 1954, so who knows? There's always rare things surfacing here and there, so... we better keep our hopes this Bill Randle's 1955 movie, with some new 'baby Elvis' footage, will be release any day now [such as we know there's 'Elvis On Tour' and 'Elvis: That's the Way It Is' never seen before footage coming our way, as confirmed by the "Elvis" 2022 biopic's film director, Baz Luhrmann — finally! We hope it will be released soon].
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But enough daydreaming... Back to Elvis' 1st television appearances.
After the premiere on America's television on January 28th, 1956, Elvis would do five more appearances on 'The Dorsey Brothers Stage Show" for the next eight weeks. Those would take place on February 4, February 11, February 18, March 17 and March 24th, 1956.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 11th, 1956 | "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Heartbreak Hotel" *

* This is a special arrangement for 'Heartbreak Hotel', so good! Jazzy, dramatic, really rarity. I loved this! ♥
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 18th, 1956 | "Tutti Frutti" and "I Was The One"
youtube
youtube
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
March 17th, 1956 | "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Heartbreak Hotel" *

youtube
* This is the usual arrangement for the "Heartbreak Hotel" song. On February 11th, 1956, Elvis performed this same song onstage of 'The Dorsey Brothers Show' but it sounded something more… dramatic (I guess it matched the lyrics after all, but I love the usual arrangement better yet).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the last one... the 6th appearance on 'Dorsey Brothers Stage Show':
March 24th, 1956 | "Money Honey" and "Heartbreak Hotel" | [FULL PERFORMANCE]
youtube
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We can see how on those first TV shows Elvis still looks quite shy. Although he moves the usual lot, he doesn't flirt with his audience as much as he would on the upcoming TV appearances (and throughout his life, actually). It's funny how he grew comfortable with being in front of the cameras so fast tho. As his photographer Wiliam Speer said, "I guess you must really like being photographed."

EDIT: THE BLUE MOON BOYS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hate it when I forget to mention such important, trivial, facts — and this shouldn't be footnote info and I feel guilty it is now but I forgot mentioning — The Blue Moon Boys. I love them so much! I watch those footage looking at them as much as I look at Elvis.
Like, I love Bill Black's energy onstage! I love him hollering, vibing to their sound, as loud as Elvis (on occasion). I love how he seem to love chewing gum (Bill is chewing gum in some of those footage), because it makes me look at the Blue Moon Boys and Elvis as a unit, real close friend who look alike, just how it should be. We know although EP for obvious reasons can't chew gum while singing, he loooooved gum and kept this - should I say "habit?" - throughout his life. It's sounding silly what I'm saying, I know, but I think this Elvis habit in fact date from back when he was rocking onstage with Bill, Scotty and DJ Fontana and it makes my heart warm how close and similar they seem to be, as friends, real friends. Bill is actually said to be the one cheering the crowds onstage when they first begun performing, when Elvis was still learning how to be the great leading man he became. When EP was still learning how to act onstage, how to manipulate the audience, creating the mad passionate reactions he learned to create whenever he wanted, Bill was the one heating things up, joking with the audience, cheering, hollering. Bill is amazing! His energy is intoxicating, and we can see it clearly on those first TV appearances performances. ♥
--
I also love how hot Scotty Moore looks! I kinda laughed thinking 'Oh my goodness' ... So this thing about rock and roll bands always having hot vocalists and hot guitar players as a rule, it looks like it all started from the 50s with EP and Scotty! (really, at least the singer and guitar player in most rock bands are hot AF, am I lying? *lol*). I have a thing for Scotty... When he smiles at times on those footage, I'm like: 🤤🥹🥴🫠 And I also love how he's elegant but at the same time menacing looking holding and playing his guitar like the guitar hero he was. Really, if you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and read Scotty's book "THAT'S ALL RIGHT, ELVIS: The Untold Story of Elvis' First Guitarist and Manager, Scotty Moore", by Scotty as told to James Dickerson (1997). Scotty's life story is fascinating and as interesting as Elvis'. ♥
--
And last, but never least, I love how together, calm and concentrated DJ Fontana looks. Ok, unfortunately being the drummer has it's disadvantages. We can't see DJ Fontana as much as we see the other boys onstage, but I listen to the songs until the very last minute and it's amazing how the music always has the closing, the important and dramatic ending, done by DJ's talented hands. I love that guy. ♥
Elvis Presley and The Blue Moon Boys were the best rock and rollers! I love their energy together. As much as I adore 70s Elvis onstage, the TCB Band, the Sweets Inspirations and all, if I only had one performance of Elvis' I could attend, just one to choose, I would go for - undoubtedly - the 50s ones, when those guys, The Blue Moon Boys and Elvis, were playing together.
That's Rock and Roll royalty. ✨👑 ♥
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There you go. All the videos together so you can watch of them easily. ♥

DO YOU KNOW WHAT SPAWNED YOUR EXISTENCE?
[ID: Two lineless, digital paintings, both with warm, dark gray backgrounds. Both canvases are shaped like exact squares.
Painting one shows an adult Bill Cipher, a bright yellow triangle with a top hat, bow tie, cane, singular eye, and long lashes, reaching out to shake hands with the Axolotl, a pink axolotl with an electric blue tail. Bill is looking at the Axolotl casually, and his outstretched hand is engulfed in blue flames, while the Axolotl is smiling at Bill gently, reaching out to take his hand. There are stylized stars, similar to sparkles, in the top right and bottom lefthand corners of the painting. The painting is textured so that you can see the gray of the canvas very faintly through the brush strokes.
Painting two consists mostly of a short passage from Edwin Abbott Abbot's Flatland, written in light gray over the dark background. The passage is the beginning of chapter 7, and reads as follows:
"7. Concerning Irregular Figures
I for my part have never known and Irregular who was not also what Nature evidently intended him to be-- a hypocrite, a misanthropist, and, up to the limits of his power, a perpetrator of all manner of mischief..."
Below the quote, near the very bottom of the page, is a tiny illustration of a very young Bill Cipher. He is drawn completely in grayscale, and is looking down at the ground angrily, fists clenched. He is wearing a pauper's cap and has bandages wrapped around his rightmost angle, which is noticeably longer and more acute than his other angles.

Note
hear me out:
clay/subject 16 having a kid he didn’t know about, or perhaps maybe desmond having a second kid he didn’t know about, or even william himself somehow had the rizz to accidentally make a second kid 😭😂
I mean… when the first chapter of Black Flag’s webtoon came out, Noa is shown to have Altaïr, Eizo and Ratonhnhaké:ton as his ancestors which led to the ‘ideas’ that he could be Desmond’s son. Of course, we also thought of the idea that he can be Bill’s son as well if having Altaïr as an ancestor isn’t based on the father’s side but on the mother’s side, since he does have Japanese and Korean and one of Altaïr’s grandchildren or even an older Darim could just as easily had a paramour in Japan while they were chasing after Genghis Khan’s children/grandchildren (the easiest being in Tsushima).
So, in this case, you didn’t specify if you wanted this to be a case of Clay, Desmond or, god forbid, Bill learning they have a child which gives me an excuse to focus this on Elijah XD
For this one, we’re dealing with the canon events in the eyes of Elijah. While the whole… Layla trilogy was happening, Elijah’s been busy laying low and building some sort of super computer that used cannibalized parts from all over.
With the skills and knowledge Aita provides him, Elijah is planning to recreate the Phoenix Project, but not for Juno.
Juno was…
A prototype. Something he did under duress while he was blinded by rage and desire for revenge.
Now, he’s rebuilding it to… well, at first, it was to bring back his mother but he later learned that it was impossible.
His mother was so inconsequential to the Calculations that there wasn’t enough data about her to bring her back even if he uses his own DNA. It still wasn’t enough.
So, he decided to pivot to trying to resurrect Desmond Miles instead.
He would say it was the only logical conclusion. Desmond Miles was the human who was closest to the Isus, not like Sages like him who were haunted by the memories of those who helplessly pathetically clung to life (and yeah, he is absolutely aiming that at Aita).
And Desmond Miles had enough DNA to be recreated with the access of the Calculations…
Because Sample 17 is a complete copy of Desmond Miles’ DNA.
So… after Elijah finished the device (improved from that garbage Juno’s cult modified from Abstergo), his next course of action was to get the original Sample 17.
During his investigations of where it could be, he learned that Abstergo had been checking for more people who had interesting connection to Desmond Miles and any other Animus Subjects.
That’s how he learned that he had a younger sibling (whether this one is a sister or a son is up to you) who was being held in an orphanage under one of Abstergo’s shell companies.
Whether this child is born from a night of passion or was actually created by Abstergo itself using… other means… is up to you.
Elijah has no reason to save this child he has no connection with. For one, he already ignored Noa Kim even when he had pinged in his radar because he knew the Assassins were already dealing with that one. All he had to do was tip the Assassins off and they’d find a way to rescue this child but…
The orphanage may have other clues that will lead him to the original Sample 17.
So he infiltrates the orphanage, found the clue he needed and…
… got back to his base with three children instead of one.
Sooooo…
Apparently…
The death of Desmond Miles had been the final straw that destroyed whatever feelings William Miles and his wife had with one another.
Oh, sorry.
Ex-wife.
While he was grieving his son and not doing any of his responsibility to the Brotherhood, William Miles had a…
Elijah felt like he was going to hurl…
… one night stand.
He has no dealings with William Miles.
He only had heard of William Miles.
But that didn’t mean he wanted to learn about William Miles’ sex life.
Regardless, when he got to the orphanage, finished his actual work, and went to get his ‘new’ sibling, he learned that…
1. Said sibling had a friend who must come with them if Elijah wanted to whisk them away.
2. Said sibling had been put in charge of a baby of all things who turned out to be William Miles’ second child.
Which means said child is technically his… aunt? Uncle?
Everything had been hectic since that was divebombed at him that he didn’t have spare time to check for something so inconsequential.
So now…
Elijah had become the guardian of three young children.
… he really needs to get the original Sample 17 so he can push all of these to Desmond Miles instead.
Unorganized Notes:
The main point is that Desmond is revived to find out that he does not only have one child, but two and a younger sibling as well as another child who is definitely Clay’s child (Elijah checked) so yeah… he was resurrected by a bunch of children (well… Elijah’s like… 18 by now)
Clay gets involved because Desmond’s resurrection still has him have a connection with the Gray where Clay is and Clay can connect with Desmond while he has a POE.
This will easily moved into Clay and Desmond trying to be good parents in their own ways and trying to raise three (four if you can Elijah who does not want to be counted) children.
Does Bill learn he has another child? Your call. Or you can just have that child think of Desmond as their father and Desmond just rolls with it since he is the one raising said child.

This is a lot of rambling
Trying not to cry thinking about how Iron Bull grows up under the Qun a place where you don’t have names and are addressed by titles Bull’s title literally being Liar but he describes finding his purpose as being a slab of marble having the last of the junk knocked off and finally seeing the final form of what you’re meant to be taking shape
He becomes one of if not The Best Ben-hassrath (secret police) agent ever, Gatt (a former Tevinter slave now Qunari agent Bull himself freed and gave the nickname Gatt short for gattlock the explosives) says Bull kept the streets of Seheron (a place that’s been in the crossfire of a seemingly endless war between the Qunari and the Tevinter Imperium full of constant death) clean longer than anyone before or after him to the point it almost kills him waking up one day and not being able to find a single reason to do his job anymore
He reaches his breaking point and turns himself into the re-educators people that literally torture you to try and ‘re-educate’ his obv ptsd but idk if that really works so instead they send him far away to Orlais to work undercover as a mercenary “tal-vashoth” (people who from his own experiences are ruthless bloodthirsty killers) (still battling with the being an object/person) he loses his eye and builds his own family of misfits, makes a name for himself (literally)(and makes a point of using an article to sound more like a ‘mindless and destructive thing’)
Eventually a demon spitting hole opens in the sky and a longdead archdemon-controlling darkspawn magister shows up claiming god is dead and he’s taking over, and now Bull finds himself working for this inquisitor some rando from no where that is the worlds only chance at beating this undead not-god and the inquisitor is also the guy who in one instant has the power to sacrifice Bull’s new family for an alliance with the Qunari or not and have Bull officially be considered Tal-Vashoth and be excommunicated from his home, friends, and family
All this to say I thought about what if in Demands of The Qun you tell the chargers to hold their position and then Iron Bull returns to Skyhold afterwards all alone…still technically apart of the Qun still technically an agent of the Ben-Hassrath, still another tool to be used by someone else….and he just has to keep going, keep lying
I’m going to start crying jfc just the thought of Bull quietly sitting in the back of the Herald’s Rest all by himself, there’s still the hustle and bustle of Skyhold, all kinds of people coming and going but none of the background noise will be his boys anymore (´༎ຶ^༎ຶ`)

i THINK i found a human design for hodge podge that i like where hes not literally Just Me but still like. vaguely a self-insert. and a bill for scale bc hes short
[image descriptions: a drawing of human designs for both bill cipher from gravity falls and a gravity falls original character named hodge podge. bill is depicted as a scrawny, pale-skinned man with medium-length blunt-cut yellow hair who is wearing a short yellow dress with a brick pattern on the skirt. hodge is depicted as a chubby pale-skinned man with visible breasts, stubble, and body hair, as well as messy split-dyed teal and yellow curly hair. he is wearing asymmetrical glasses, a teal and white jester hat with a matching collar and pink gloves and jester boots, all over an oversized t-shirt that says "dilf" on it. end id]

I feel like "Children of the O. D. D" by HarleyPoe fits him too. On another note despite Bill being a tyrannical figure I feel really bad for the guy. I can't imagine not being able to become yourself again that would be torture. I equate Bill's situation with Discord from mlp where if he tries to be normal he just disappears. He needs to be the person he is or he's not Discord. I know Bill being human is the point of this whole thing. He's supposed to be human so he can learn a lesson about consequences, still must suck though.
I can see it, you've got the culty religious overtones, the weirdness, and the trouble with authority.
He can be both tyrannical and suffering, and acknowledging one doesn't negate the other. You can feel bad for him, I wrote him super sad so that you would. This suffering doesn't undo any of the wrongs he's done, it doesn't improve the world, there's no justice in it; it's just suffering.
I'm gonna give this little bit away, since it's not really a spoiler so much as it is simply something that hasn't come up: Bill isn't a human to teach him a lesson or to punish him.
Bill's a human because if the Axolotl didn't turn him into something powerless, he would've just restarted Weirdmageddon; and, out of all the powerless things he could have been turned into, a human would be EASIEST for him because he knows humans backwards and forwards and he likes Earth.
The human body isn't a punishment being inflicted on him; it's a containment measure to prevent the apocalypse.
It's just that the only containment measure that could hold him happened to require stuffing him into a form that makes him miserable. It does feel torturous, it does suck, and it isn't supposed to give you grim satisfaction at a villain getting his comeuppance; it's supposed to hurt.

“The weird thing is that, as different as they seem, Bill Wyman and Mick Jagger were actually very similar. That would rankle Mick like a motherfucker, me saying that. But if you saw them together on the road or read their diaries, they were basically the same. Except Mick's got a bit of class, standing at the front, being the lead singer and la la la. But if you saw them off stage and what they were doing, ‘How many did you have tonight?’ they were the same.”

i'm sorry but i'm still stuck on frank's and bill's first kiss. the tension in the air, the unspoken i see you, the there is no girl, frank reaching out with a promise of safety and support while bill was trembling beneath his hands.
so many first kisses we see on tv are a result of pent-up sexual tension, the metaphorical explosion of feelings that developed over episodes and seasons. but this one, this one, was so simple but yet meant so much more than they could have ever explained with words. they barely knew each other, spent one meal together, but somehow their kiss contained more emotions than half the kisses on tv.
