claudia still gets infantilized by media surrounding iwtv despite this being core to the tragedy of her condition
i think shes always been infantilized & ppl dont see the merit of her arc bc ppl rly only care about female characters in relation with romance or if they are children [or someone’s child of sorts?] in so far as they relate to the men rearing them. [cue 5001 lestat-claudia webweaves]. claudia is both selectively infantilized & excessively adultified whenever convenient to character/s [somehow both a β€˜child interfering’ and both powerful enough to β€˜turn louis against lestat’] nd to a certain extent by the fandom too. speaking of the show here too - show!louis now wanting claudia as his child is never disseminated for what it is in relation to louis (how he wanted children, and how hes forcibly exiled from the public sphere & makes do with the quasi-domestic) or claudia (in her want for a companion in immortality & wanting to understand the origins of their existence. in both the book and the show its claudia who initiates the question of β€˜who made lestat/vampires as a whole’) but rather ppl render show claudia inert solely as a fictional moral bludgeon to character bash louis or make stuntin like my mommy/daddy posts with lestat. i was thinking too the other day how people often talk about iwtv in the sense of outcasts but never mention claudia… which is insane bc this line in the show alone says so much
But it was 1939, and the only N* allowed in first class was the porter, and the N* passenger rode the rear. The N* vampire made do with what was left, which was fine with her.
neither second-class passenger nor porter directly serving whites: claudia is the black vampire sitting in the stowaway with the dogs and people’s luggage, earlier hiding out in university corners pretending to be the cleaner’s child, engorging herself on blood and taking body parts from her victims to put in storage all if it means she could have something for herself. shes really the ult. outcast of sorts.

i think i've talked about this before but fuck it, i want to talk about it again. i find it concerning how little the spop fandom cares about morals or compassion towards others.
they think that adora should have stayed with catra and let the horde kill everyone in etheria.
they think that catra trying to destroy the universe and kill thousands of people was justifiable.
they think that shadow weaver is evil only because she's abusive, and refuses to acknowledge the fact that she's the only character who was actually trying to do something useful during the war.
they think that adora should not have taken the failsafe and that she should have instead stayed with catra and let everyone die, including herself.
they don't give a fuck about the characters who suffered because of the horde and because of catra, especially angella, micah, glimmer, etc.
and i know that these don't necessarily reflect their actual morals. i'm not saying that these people are bad just because of their opinions regarding fiction. but it is still a bit icky to see people be like β€œomg adora is so mean for abandoning catra, she should have stayed in the horde” when adora was trying to put an end to a war.
we're talking about a war here. adora didn't leave the horde for glimmer and bow, or for some luxury she didn't get in the horde; she left because she didn't want to support the group of people who were literally slaughtering innocent people by the hundreds.

Honestly Rayla is equally 100% ride or die for Callum too.
That's so true I almost mentioned it in that post. They're so ridiculously feral for each other it's hilarious to watch. Callum's the legitimate "we ride AND die together" whereas Rayla is the "I will ride and die FOR you" sort of deal yknow?
Could be literally any situation, no matter how dangerous, and she's already decided she will die here. Does it ensure Callum lives? Then batter-up buckeroo we're going in swords blazing! Everyone cheer and clap for her human or she'll blow this whole place up. Kinda person who says "even if you hate me I'd still lose everything if it meant you were okay". She thinks they're in a tragic love story where she's always at risk of losing him but that's okay as long as it keeps him safe and happy like y'know Viren parallels, she'd risk losing her very self for him over and over. Except Callum would wait until the end of the world itself, and even beyond, and she wouldn't even have to ask.
The difference between them, really, is that Rayla will die for Callum on any given day. Callum will kill for Rayla on any given day. Something something matching sets
#tdp#the dragon prince#asks#rayllum#tdp callum#tdp rayla#talk#someone in the tags of that post said 'raylas self loathing works hard but callums devotion works even harder' and they own that post now#its theirs. they summed it up beautifully. they own it#'yes hes cringe but hes MY cringefail loserboy!!!!! get your OWN'#everyone else would say the 'hes a 10 but--' except for rayla. shes just 'hes a 10. hes just a 10 striaght-up'#he is not. he is so not a 10 i love him but hes not a 10 shes just so ill for him#so insane that the girl who has issues abt not being or being wanted by anyone or not good enough for ppl to stay/want her#proceeds to find maybe the 1 guy in the entire world who will choose her no matter WHAT#and even when SHE was the one who left & he was pissed he was still 100% sticking by her. hes staying#oops she showed him affection. now hes stuck forever! shame. welp guess thats how it goes!#and its partially bc of that she'd die for him. she needs him to b okay even if shes not there. mix of that loathing like#'he could still b happy without me so i need to ensure he lives so he can STAY happy at my own detriment. he means more than me'#girl if you died he would literally crumple into dust. fold in like cardboard in the rain. lay face-down in the sand & just die there#same w callum hes like 'i can hurt myself over & over for her if shes alive. if the danger is dead then she can live longer. i will live bu#tear myself apart so long she is safe'#bestie. if you reach the point of no return she will sacrifice herself to get the old you back WHAT THEN

"Shadow Warrior" and Ahsoka's plot-development coma is still picking at my brain months later, not really because it was That Good (though it was admittedly quite good) but because it was all about the part of Ahsoka and Anakin's relationship that interests me the most: the way he haunts her for decades. Their original reunion in Rebels involves her literally passing out when she senses him, but despite this terror we see her a couple episodes later fondly rewatching Anakin's training videos on Kanan's holocron. In the shows it is Ahsoka who bridges that gap between Anakin and Vader for the viewer, and reminds us constantly that they are one and the same, two sides of the same character. They have an immensely complex relationship and it was interesting to see Filoni's idea of how she might make "peace" with what he did to her and what he trained her to do.
Ahsoka's lovingly-remembered master was the cruel lord of the Inquisitors who hunted her. The hero of the Clone Wars was the terror of the Rebellion she worked tirelessly to build. Ahsoka's stalwart guide through the memories of her childhood is also the demon she must defeat within herself so that she may move forward. Anakin shaped who she is, but "Shadow Warrior" says that he was also the thing holding her back. That's cinema.

there was a scene in the manga where hakuno was being strangled HELP!! /j but even then hakuno was asking the attacker (julius) "why are you making that face?" because hakuno could tell that he was suffering deep down πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜ and we get a julius monologue: "i didn't want to accept that i still had these feelings within me. let alone have this guy see through them. i hate it..."

"I've always wondered...."
The words take on a breathless quality as lidded ember gazes upwards, directly at the oldest friend she has ever had. Familiar sunkissed skin now bore smudged ruby petals of her lips, deep sea locks tussled. It mirrored the cascade of crimson hair upon her pillow, the waves of silken dress that remained ruffled. "Why did you still believe in me back then?"
In the heat and drunkenness of affection the thought still lingers between kisses. It stays as she is pressed deeper into her own bed. It remain on the tip of her tongue with ever parting of lips. A hue of coral rest upon Himeko's complexion, almost artfully smugged. It's a debauchery that is only for his eyes, that's Andreas sculpted into her like the rose bud bites that are planted around on her neck.
That promise to extend.
"I know-" She cannot help but wonder if this indulgences spurs her mind further. When was the last time she felt anything but graceful and controlled, the rise and fall of her chest quick and the desire of heart and mind linked. "I know it has nothing to do with anything like our closeness now, we both were too young for something like this."
To want him, to know why he wanted her.
"My Andreas..." Himeko's voice deepened, low yet no less passionate. No less laden with love. The ember dreams in her eyes do not muddle her gaze from him but only incorporates him within those stars. Gentle hands guide him ever closer as the woman's lips curled into a breathtaking smile of disbelief.
"Are you the first to trailblaze......because of me?"
😳 Unprompted. Always accepting! | @chasersglow
The moment they share feels like a secret, a thrill not unlike that when she used to run up to him on the beach and show him something clasped in her hands, a little shrimp she'd caught in the tidal pools left behind by the waves. Not unlike the way they'd both explore the cliffs far past dinner time, or sneak out of bed to catch the sunrise while their parents slumbered, all the more blissfully unaware. She's warm beneath him, and the pressure of their bodies pressed together is, for once... comforting.
He hums idly as she speaks, drinking in the flush on her face and taking his time to duck down and indulge in the blossoming bites on her neck, sometimes worrying away at them further, sometimes soothing them with gentle kisses. The next time he pulls away, he sees the lipstick smudged on his lips left behind on her neck.
How funny.
She has asked him a question, but it's clear that she's not done speaking. He contents himself with continuing to indulge in her, cheekily interrupting her with languid kisses but no less listening intently. She knows he is listening. I know it has nothing to do with anything like our closeness now, we were both too young for something like this.
"Is that what you think?" he rumbles, trailing kisses down her chin, throat, chest, ending right over the beauty mark just above the rise of her breast. If he nips her there, well. Nobody will know. The marks left by his teeth will not last, he's careful to assure that, for her sake. It's a tease, perhaps a prologue of what's to come, perhaps a translation of the omission left behind by his rhetorical question in response to hers. He doesn't explain himself further; there's no need to. He's loved her for a long, long time, longer than Veritas Ratio has existed, long enough for him to fully and freely shed the self the rest of the world knows in her presence. It is a comfortable existence with her, and the prickling unpleasantness against his skin is easily manageable -- quiet. His mind is quiet.
How funny that is, too, for the woman who sparked all the hunger for knowledge in his mind to also be the one to quiet it. Perhaps it's because he has no need to search for her anymore? But he had no need to search for her the first time mention of the Express' revival reached his ears, and his mind was no less noisy for it then. Maybe, then, it's because he's finally caught her, has her in his arms once more. Sensibility is something he prides himself on, but the impression of home is not something even he can ignore. This moment won't last, but for as long as the two of them are intertwined, Himeko is home. And for the two of them, for now, home is a peaceful, quiet thing.
The kisses over her sternum -- never further, never lower -- are chaste, notes left behind in thought as he ponders her question. "It would be too easy for you to die like that," he answers finally, peeking up at her with wine-gold eyes. One more kiss over her beauty mark (for good measure, he thinks) before he's slinking up to meet her lips once again. "I believed in you because you gave me something to believe in. Reason to ponder, ideas to question, an irrefutable truth to discover. Your death was no such irrefutable truth, thus I believed in your survival." You would not so easily let fate sway you, just as I would not let it sway myself. If his smile is smug, it is out of playfulness. "And would you look at us now? I was right."
Gazing down at her, laying nose to nose and chest to chest, he comes to a sudden realization. She's beautiful. And yes, that much is obvious. With her deep red hair and dazzling eyes and figure, Himeko is an objectively attractive woman to just about anyone. But it's an impression that doesn't strike Andreas until he catches his own reflection in her eyes, sharing the depths of her irises with the stars that live in her gaze even when the sky above is obscured.
...How he missed that sight.
How he missed this, though they've never shared this kind of intimacy before, but the timelessness of her company remains as if they'd never grown apart. She's beautiful in the way she smiles, the rise and fall of every breath, the disheveled state of her makeup and clothes and hair, in the way she sees him, her eyes and attention on him alone. She's beautiful in a way that is real and wholly, inexplicably his.
His name spoken in her voice elicits a little shiver that races down his spine, sets his heart skipping. Her hands find his face and that familiar prickle is once again washed away by the warmth of her palms, something to sink into, something safe. What's with that look, Himeko? his eyes ask. You regard me with such incredulity. Do you struggle still to fathom the weight of my faith in you? And then she asks that question, and he understands, and he smiles, as if they're engaging in another secret, a little inside joke known only to the two of them. Really, what else could he be? Though not a Nameless, did he not pursue new paths too? Light new ways not just for himself, but for all the worlds he helped? Did he not undertake a journey to find himself, and her?
"Would you like me to be?" he whispers against her lips, hands cradling her ribs. One kiss, two kisses, three against the corners of her mouth. "The universe may know Veritas Ratio, scholar of the Intelligentsia Guild, but you, αστΡράκια ΞΌΞΏΟ…, will know Andreas, first of the trailblazers under your light."
