I am here to scream at you all, that you simply MUST either read or listen to Always Already by @aibidil

It is one of the best Drarry fics I've read (well, listened, I did the podfic while I worked). It is easily in my top 3 Drarry fics now.

For marauders fans, they're in there too!

The podfic is narrated by the author, and OH MY GOD if it's not the best thing. Such a wildly different experience to hear all the flecks of tone, emotion, the muuuuusic pairing to really immerse you into the scene (like listening to the music that the characters are listening to).

I simply adore Draco in this fic, he is the perfect combination of sass and flair. Ugh I cannot. I just love him.

@cr-amber forever indebted to my platonic wolfstar half for recommending I read this, and for listening to all my random out of context quotes while I did.

I discovered this fic by digging through tags on Ao3 when I was getting back into fandom at the start of the pandemic. At the time, I had yet to write my own fic and yet to even comment on a fic before! I never could have imagined both how much joy I have gotten out of fandom in the subsequent years and also how significant these authors would become in my life.

I don't mean to be dramatic when I say that this fic cracked open something in me and made me question... hmm... maybe I could be lovable? Maybe I am deserving of love just as I am - traumatized and scarred and messy?

It's a trauma recovery fic - it's THE postwar Drarry trauma recovery fic for me. It's a story in love with nature (forests, gardening, herbs) and with messy, imperfect humans trying their best, especially messy, imperfect humans so rarely depicted with so much love (addicts, sexual assault survivors who don't want to be touched). Rho and James read their story out loud so beautifully if you want to listen to it - but also I wouldn't blame you if you read it instead in order to tear through it as fast as you can. What a story, what a gift to the fandom.

Wilfriede really put their everything into the bad girl flirting and I am 100% grateful because thats totally matching the vibe of the fic. Also this is really what Umbridge deserved for her OoTP drama :D

[Podfic of] Plenitude by eldritcher . Amelia Bones/Hermione Granger. 14 min. Rated M. If you are like me and have zero attention span for longer podfics this one is going to change your mind, guaranteed. THE SOUND TRACK IS INSANELY ATMOSPHERIC! On point. But also insane! Also the voices! Amelia Bone is really unflappable, Harry is living on a prayer and Hermione is just so totally Hermione. I really love this one because the fic has a really unique, elusive vibe. The podfic really went for that vibe and got it right bigtime :D

A series of summers in his friendship with Edmund Pevensie, or, the story where Tom Riddle gets a partly-decent childhood.

Rec: Routines is one of my favorite fics—such an inspired pairing, explored with so much depth and sensitivity—and I was excited to see it had a podfic!! what a beautifully read one, too. JocundaSykes’ voice is magic, really conveying the mood of each of the different scenes: childhood bed-sharing, to summer days spent bike riding and wrestling and splashing in the lake, power struggles, trust, and romance. the scene with the mutual reveal of their secrets gave me chills. so many of my favorite lines were perfectly delivered. Gorgeous fic and this podfic took my enjoyment of it to new heights. Rec rec rec.

Summary: Draco never expected to find love once, let alone twice. But how does love work when your heart's still broken? *OR* Harry gets a heart transplant and develops feelings for Draco Malfoy, but those two things are not at all related. Until they are.

the last fic I read in 2023 was Sounds Worth It. And it was fantastic. I read it pretty much at midnight and twas fun to have Draco and Hermione celebrating New Year's while I was celebrating it.

Then I saw in your author notes that the Draco characterisation was inspired by another fic. So you bet the first fic of 2024 I read was The Man Who Lived by sebastianL. And that was such a beautiful journey!! The depictions of grief and human connection in that fic are so well done and interesting.

Thanks for your wonderful writing and for pointing me to find another fantastic story!

I love that you went out with my little NYE fic, and started your year off right with the behemoth that is TMWL - a desert island fic for me for sure. Love everything about this. 💚 Thanks for sharing with me!

Also, a writing-related thing, but someone made a podfic for The Great Biscuit Calamity and I'm screaming because I've never had anyone just... do that before???? And that's such a fun little fic for that too! At least, he is until Draco Malfoy threatens to sue him for ownership of Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, and winds up moving in until the issue is settled. Then Harry really isn’t fine at all.
