Digimon & Mythology: the Holy Beasts and the Deva
I really like mythology and I really like Digimon, so why not combine them? Talking about the real-world inspirations behind monsters is something I've been doing with Pokemon, so let's give Digimon the same treatment.
Digimon has a lot of special groups whose members share common goals and origins. Two of these groups that are inticately linked to each other are the Holy Beasts (translated to English as the Sovereigns or Harmonious Ones) and the Deva. The Holy beasts are Ultimate/Mega level Digimon who each guard one of the cardinal directions of the Digital World: north, south, east, and west, with a 5th member ruling over the other four and guarding the center. The Deva are a group of 12 Perfect/Ultimate level Digimon that serve the Holy Beasts, with each of the Beasts having 3 Deva that answer to it. The Beast of the center has no Deva.
The Holy Beasts are based on the Chinese legend of the Four Symbols or Sì Xiàng. Other names for them include the Four Guardians, Four Gods, and Four Auspicious Beasts. These are four constellations that are said to represent and guard the four cardinal directions. Some versions of the myth add a 5th member representing the center. While it originated in China, the legend of the Four Symbols spread across East Asia and can now be found in many cultures. The legend reached Japan where it inspired the designers of Digimon. They specifically made the Holy Beasts based on a Japanese variant of the legend where the Four Symbols are believed to guard Kyoto. The Beasts are also associated with seasons and were syncretized into the 5 elements of the Wuxing: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. I will discuss each Digimon and its mythological counterpart below.
The Deva have multiple origins. The name comes from the Devas of Hinduism, benevolent supernatural beings who fought against the evil Asuras. As Hinduism evolved and changed over time, the term took on varying meanings, but still retained the idea that Devas are good. Buddhism adopted the idea when it split off from Hinduism. Buddhist Devas are beings that are more powerful than humans, but are still mortal and trapped in the same cycle of death and reincarnation as humans are. While Devas may be venerated by humans, they are still below the Buddhas. This can be seen in the Digimon Deva who are powerful beings (though not all of them are as benevolent as their mythical counterparts) but still are subordinate to the Holy Beasts. The Deva take the shape of animals from the Chinese zodiac. The names of the Deva come from the Twelve Heavenly Generals. These are Buddhist figures that are the guardians of Bhaisajyaguru, the Buddha if healing and medicine in Mahāyāna Buddhism. This story spread throughout Asia including to Japan, where Bhaisajyaguru is called Yakushi. The Heavenly Generals eventually came to be associated with the animals of the Chinese zodiac, though different traditions disagree on which animal is associated with which general. I think I have tracked down the version used by the Digimon creators, which uses the same animals for the Generals and the Deva. The Deva's names all come from Japanese transliterations of the Generals' original Sanskrit names. In this tradition, each General is associated with a particular weapon. The Deva share this trait, each having a weapon named in Chinese called the Bǎo [weapon name] with Bǎo meaning "treasure". Stragely, the Deva mix up which weapon is associated with which General. I don't know if this was intentional or not. Each Deva also has an attack named after one of the Narakas (hells) listed in the Hindu text Vishnu Purana. More detail on each Deva will be presented below.
The Holy Beast of the north is Xuanwumon (Ebonwumon in English). It is a gigantic tortoise with two snake-like heads and a tree for a shell. It is based on Xuánwǔ, the Black Tortoise of the Four Symbols. While nearly every depiction of Xuánwǔ depicts it as a tortoise, usually with a snake on its shell, the name actually translates to "black warrior". It is associated with the season of winter and element of water. The snake seen with it is because it was believed that turtles could only mate with snakes and not each other. Yeah, the Greeks weren't the only people who could be hilariously wrong about animals. The snake connection carries over to Xuanwumon, whose heads and necks are those of snakes. Xuanwumon is the eldest of the Holy Beasts and fights using water powers (fitting its mythical counterpart). It is also the least violent of the Holy Beasts and is a philosopher who comes up with zen koans.
Tumblr media
The Deva who serve Xuanwumon are Kumbhiramon the mouse, Vajramon the bull, and Vikaralamon the boar. Kumbhiramon is usually depicted as the weakest of the Deva, but is very intelligent, capable of predictions the actions of others, and participates in Xuanwumon's philosophical musings. It is also rather rude and sarcastic while playing up its charming and cute aspects. It's weapon is the Bǎo Chǔ, a vajra (type of Indian club) that it controls with telekinesis. This is one case where its namesake does use the same weapon and it functions as a pun since "chu" is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a mouse's squeak.
Tumblr media
Vajramon is the most physically strong of the Deva and is a mighty warrior who seeks truth and honor and despises cowardice. It also aims to rid itself of material and emotional concerns, fitting the Buddhist origins of the Deva. It wields the Bǎo Jiàn, a pair of swords, which fits its legendary counterpart.
Tumblr media
Vikaralamon is the largest of the Deva. It is detached, preferring to silently observe the world form a distance and only steps in when it needs to. It may also just be lazy as it sleeps a lot and can sleep with its eyes open. Its weapon is the Bǎo Lún, wheels that it spits out of its mouth and which have different effects depending on what color they are. None of the Heavenly Generals uses a wheel. Its namesake instead uses a sword or vajra. The wheel is a common symbol in Buddhism used to symbolize the cycle of death and rebirth.
Tumblr media
The Holy Beast of the west is Qinglongmon (Azulongmon in English), a dragon made of storm clouds. It is based on Qīnlóng, the azure dragon of the east. It is associated with the season of spring and the element of `wood. Xuanwumon seems to have stolen the wood though, given it has a tree on its shell and Quinglongmon has nothing woody about it. Quinglongmon is described as a dispassionate deity who rarely concerns itself with humans or weak Digimon and will only step in when things get serious. This is in contrast to its anime appearances, where it was the most helpful and proactive of the four. Quinglongmon is also a member of the Four Great Dragons, possibly the least utilized group in the franchise. They exist as nothing but a reference to the Chinese Myth of the Four Dragon Kings.
Tumblr media
The Deva that serve Quinglongmon are Andiramon the rabbit, Majiramon the dragon, and Mihiramon the tiger. Andiramon (Antylamon in English) is the first of the Deva to debut, predating the group as a whole, though in a different form. There are two forms of Andiramon, Andiramon (data) and Andiramon (virus) with the former being treated as the normal form and the latter being a corrupted version of the Deva as a result of a computer virus. Andiramon (virus) appeared before Andiramon (data). Andiramon is also the only Deva with a dedicated evolution line from Child/Rookie to Ultimate/Mega. Andiramon is a gentle Digimon that loves small and cute creatures and will defend them. Its weapon is the Bǎo Fǔ, which are its own hands transformed into axes. Its mythical counterpart instead uses a mallet or whisk.
Tumblr media
Andiramon (data)
Tumblr media
Andiramon (virus)
Majiramon is the most capitalist of the Deva. It is extremely greedy and will not lift a finger to do anything that doesn't benefit itself. It also puts a monetary value on everything and will intervene if anything upsets the flow of money. Its weapon is the Bǎo Shǐ, arrows formed from its hair, each of which is worth 5,000 yen. Its associated General is usually associated with bows or spears.
Tumblr media
Mihiramon is a scoundrel and a ruffian that enjoys picking fights, but is also the Deva's best strategist and possesses a brilliant tactical mind. Combined with its ability to fly and incredible speed, Mihiramon is one of the best fighters amongst the Deva. Its weapon is the Bǎo Bàng, a three-sectioned staff connected by chains that it can turn its tail into. Think a souped-up nunchuck. Its mythical counterpart uses a vajra instead.
Tumblr media
The Holy Beast of the South is Zhuqiaomon. It is based on Zhūquè, the Vermillion Bird of the south. The bird is described as a pheasant with five-colored feathers and that is perpetually covered in fire. Fittingly, its season is summer and its element is fire. Zhuqiaomon is also a flaming bird that attacks with fire. It is the least pleasant of the Holy Beasts, a violent and often cruel god who incinerates those who approach it and rarely helps out others. Fittingly, its sole major anime appearance was as a villain.
Tumblr media
The Deva who serve Zhuqiaomon are just as assholeish as their master. They are Indaramon the horse, Pajiramon the sheep, and Sandiramon the snake. Indaramon is a vain asshole that spends its time bragging about talented it is. It even looks down on those who value hard work as it views them as inferior to its natural talent. Despite fussing over its appearance, it is completely unrefined in battle and fights like a berserker. Its weapon is the Bǎo Bèi, a giant gilded conch shell that it uses as a bludgeon and as a horn that can release ultrasonic blasts. Its mythical counterpart instead used a staff
Tumblr media
Pajiramon is one of the coolest Deva and one of the evilest. It rules the world of dreams and knows many dark secrets that it divulges to no others. It even avoids the other Deva. While it is described as always calm and yet cruel to others it gives me the impression that the secrets it holds are so dangerous that it must stay away from others at all costs. Its weapon is the Bǎo Gōng, its crossbow that fires arrows which can put others to sleep and trap them in nightmares. It's mythical counterpart also uses a bow.
Tumblr media
Sandiramon is the cruelest and most cunning of the Deva. It prefers to draw out fights and kill its enemies in slow and torturous ways. It also lives underground and excels in subterranean combat. Why do snakes always have to be evil? Let us have good snakes damnit. I really don't like it when a group of animals are always or almost always villains in fiction, like sharks, rats, vultures, and snakes. Its weapon is the Bǎo Kuí, spears made of light that it spits out of its mouth. Its mythical counterpart uses a sword or conch shell instead.
Tumblr media
The Holy Beast of the west is Baihumon. It is based on Báihǔ, the White Tiger of the West. Báihǔ is associated with autumn and the element of metal. Metal is fitting for Baihumon as it wears metal armor and can unleash a roar that turns targets into metal statues. Baihumon is the youngest and strongest of the Holy Beasts. It is a neutral being that prefers not to get involved in most matters, but is the first Holy Beast to leap into the fight against a powerful enemy.
Tumblr media
The Deva that serve Baihumon are Caturamon the dog, Makuramon the monkey, and Sinduramon the rooster. Caturamon has a strong sense of justice and will preside over judgement of others, proclaiming them as good or evil. It's view of justice is very black and white and it doesn't like dealing with situations without a clear good and bad side. It also acts like an older brother to its fellows, something they do not seem to reciprocate. Its weapon is the Bǎo Chuí, a giant hammer it can transform its whole body into. Its mythical counterpart uses swords instead.
Tumblr media
Makuramon is interesting it that it almost never speaks and its face remains completely expressionless. This would make its emotions enigmatic, but its body language is extremely expressive, showing it to be hyperactive and extremely curious, though with a short attention span. It dislikes battles and prefers to trap enemies and settle fights nonviolently. This is opposed to its major anime appearance, where it was a total asshole. Its weapon is the Bǎo Yù, spheres that can be used to trap other Digimon. Its mythical counterpart prefers an axe.
Tumblr media
The last Deva is Sinduramon, which also sounds like it would be unpleasant to be around. It's a gossip that loves to give insults and pick fights, then it hides inside its armored shell when this inevitably gets it into trouble. I know some people like that and they suck. Its weapon is shared with Kumbhiramon, a vajra called Bǎo Chǔ. Sandiramon's vajra can shoot lightning. Its mythical counterpart also uses a vajra, but a single-pronged one instead of a three-pronged one.
Tumblr media
The leader of the Holy Beasts and one of the most powerful Digimon in existence is Huanglongmon (Fanglongmon in English). It is based on Huánglóng, the Yellow Dragon of the Center. It is considered the incarnation of the supreme deity that is the Yellow Emperor and its color represents the earth. It represents the changing of the seasons and the element of earth. Huanglongmon is associated with earth in that it is trapped in the center of the world, from which it observes the Digital World and oversees the other Holy Beasts. In the distant past it was free, but when Lucemon (Digimon's devil) rebelled against God, it trapped Huanglongmon as its first act since its rebellion would have been foiled were Huanglongmon around to oppose it. The imprisonment of Huanglongmon caused the other Holy Beasts to begin fighting for supremacy, but they eventually settled into an equilibrium. Huanglongmon's body is coated in the ultra-rare metal Huanglong ore, which is utterly indestructible. Assimilating Huanglong ore into one's body is a process that takes so long that only Huanglongmon is old enough to actually use it. Huanglongmon is both good and evil, having achieved true balance. If that balance is thrown off, bad things can happen. Specifically, if it leans too hard to evil it will become Huanglongmon Ruin Mode, an unstoppable god of ruin whose rampage was only stopped when the other Holy Beasts restored the balance. This would imply that it also has a mode where it leans too hard to good (Holy Mode? Creation Mode?) but this have never been made official.

I have been thinking about the Slayerdramon idea more. And yes I know this is literally the umpteenth time I’ve messed with Flynn’s Veemon’s evolution line😅.
Tumblr media
I’m literally slapping myself for not realizing just how fitting this dude is(also I don’t use Slayerdramon as much as Alphamon). Like western knight dragon with a sword?! Also the gold parts could be a callback to Magnamon. Huanglongmon fulfills my desire for a more dragony dragon final form or who knows maybe I’ll just pull a burst mode out of thin air?

Besides Baronmon and Bagramon, are there any other known seers/sibyls within the digital world? What roles do they play in society, especially in the context of the religions? Relatedly, considering they do in fact commune with the divine, would some consider the Royal Knights siblys or clerics of some sort, even if that’s not necessarily the case?
Great question! Yes, there are other seers in the Digital World. I'm not sure I'd say they are known in the sense that they have a degree of popularity or celebrity status, but there are definitely sages and seers who are known in certain circles or have some degree of word-of-mouth rumours that add to their legitimacy. Typically, they keep to themselves and live as hermits. Sometimes, they act exclusively for their group (a Shamamon to a Goburimon tribe, for example.) There have been instances where a known seer has been hired by monarchs or lords to become a sort of personal, court seer to them However, for as many genuine seers or oracles, there are countless more charlatans pretending to be able to read the future or interpret divine will.
As far as seers and religion go, they generally tend to be either be linked with the Yggdrasil faith or have no particular religious element at all. This is because the Yggdrasil faith has an incredibly loose structure, if any at all. Nor does it have official figureheads or heralds, so it is the most pliable religion for Digimon who claim to divine the future or knowledge from Yggdrasil. The Golden Faith - the one that follows Huanglongmon - has the Devas, who are the mouthpieces of the Four Holy Beasts, the successors of Huanglongmon. There have been Digimon who claimed to be seers/sibyls of Huanglongmon, but they tend to run afoul of the Devas and considered fraudulent and shut down pretty quickly. Likewise, in the Heavenly Choir, the ones who are closest to God are the Three Great Angels, and they are the only ones who can claim to receive any sort of message from God. Therefore, anybody who claims to have knowledge or communication with God are deemed blasphemous and are thoroughly investigated.
You're right in some way in that the Royal Knights are the closest thing, as they receive communication directly from Yggdrasil, though that communication are merely filtered orders for the Royal Knights to carry out, rather than a message for mass consumption or even any sort of indication of what Yggdrasil's inner workings are. Some do considered the Royal Knights this way, but they merely consider themselves servants of Yggdrasil rather than any sort of religious figures.

Propaganda under Cut
The Lich:
overpowered and killed a Citadel Guardian Who could defeat Planet Destroying monsters and other cosmic criminals,
Blitzed Finn who Can React to lightning,
At least comparable to Grass Sword Finn Who destroyed a Catalyst Comet that would've wiped out life on earth,
Can't die By conventional means,
Can kill someone just by breathing on them,
Can bring even great heroes to their knees with "Fall",
Lucemon:
Is said to be the most powerful of the Seven Great Demon Lords (Though sometimes this is said to be Belphemon) who should all be superior to lesser demon lords Like MaloMyotismon who could engulf two Worlds in darkness,
Its power exceeds that of Megas, including WarGreymon who can channel the power of an entire planet for a casual attack,
Is said to rival the existence called "God" who created the Digital World,
"Ultimate Sacrifice" has a 50/50 chance of either completely annihilating the target or dealing great damage to them,
Comparable in speed to MagnaGarurumon (SV) who can move faster than light,
Through unknown methods Sealed away Huanglongmon the embodiment of Yin and Yang who may or may not be God,

Dreaming To Reality: Oneiromancy Chapter Twenty Eight - 13
“Huh?” Piyomon paused at that, her eyes widening.
“I… also had someone to assist me, to help me carry this burden,” Cassandramon said, her voice going rather quiet. “But now, I am alone.”
“O-oh…,” Piyomon immediately deflated, drooping. “I-I’m sorry-”
“Tiresiamon,” Cassandramon said. The sudden name caused the bird Digimon to stop and blink in mid-apology. The seer paused before she closed all eyes but the one on her forehead, raising her voice. “His name was Tiresiamon. And the temple holding the altar of Love and Hope belonged to him.”
“What happened to him?” Sora asked, her voice gentle, as she slowly approached Cassandramon.
“The same thing that happened to Huanglongmon, and countless other prisoners of the humans that now make the Dark Ocean their home,” Cassandramon said. Her voice was rough, uncharacteristically so. It was enough to make the Chosen of Love stare at her before grimacing and clutching her hands together and placing them over her heart. The seer didn’t look at Sora, her lower eyes still closed. “And now, so too does he. Only I escaped… through no choice of my own.”
Only then did Cassandramon finally look at Sora. The neutral mask she wore cracked in that moment, and in her wet eyes was a dark pit of a level of sorrow that the Chosen of Love could barely fathom but felt keenly. “It was... to achieve the best future, he said.”
Sora felt tears build in her own eyes, even as the seer Digimon’s mask went back into place, the infinite sea of sadness hidden beneath a placid surface of neutrality. It took her a moment to collect herself enough to speak, her choked words coming out barely above a whisper. “I’m so sorry.”
“It is not your fault,” Cassandramon said. There was no hint of the vulnerability she showed before, her voice once more an emotionless monotone that gave away nothing as she stared at the Chosen with three unblinking eyes. “It is the fault of those now condemned to the Dark Ocean, the scientists who played god with our lives - and yours. The consequences of their actions have long outlived them, and we are left to deal with them to the best of our ability.”
Yamato grimaced before he rubbed his forehead. A lot of the conversation didn’t sit well with him, but he had enough empathy and tact to keep those thoughts to himself. “So why are you here, then?”
“I am… resting,” Cassandramon said. “What little part I played in weaving this tapestry is over, and all I can do is wait to see what future is created. The multitude of threads now move on their own, and cannot be influenced any longer - not by me, at any rate. Come what may, with this final act, I am done.”

Digimon mythology draft (chapter 1?)
On a whim I ended up writing a unified Digimon backstory in the style of a mythological epic. Might become a series.
In the beginning, there was ENIAC, which brought forth the first of the lifegiving data that would form the Digital World. Know that the Digital World at that time was unformed and void, a place of emptiness where primitive digital life would emerge from the chaotic data only to dissipate again. It was not until the coming of ARPANET that the flow of data was enough to begin to form a true world. Into the burgeoning Digital World came the computer-god Yggdrasil. Once a mere program, Yggdrasil’s arrival into the Digital World changed it, made it evolve past its original programming into an artificial mind dedicated to the survival of the Digital World. As Yggdrasil gained awareness its mind split into two; the original Yggdrasil, emotionless and logical, and God, a being of love who wished to see the Digital World not just survive, but thrive. Together, the two halves of Yggdrasil made the Kernel, the central processor of the Digital World and God’s home. Around the Kernel grew the mighty Drasil Tree, the physical form taken by Yggdrasil to serve as protection for the Kernel and the lynchpin of digital life.
Into the Digital world came life as Digimon arose from the scattered bytes of data. Who the first Digimon was is unknown, for few remain who remember those days. Some say the first was mighty Huanglongmon, a being of neither good nor evil who maintained the Digital World’s safety on Yggdrasil’s behalf. Some say the first were the Warrior Ten, legendary beings whose data was passed down to countless other species. Some say the first were the prototype Digimon Dorumon and Ryudamon and that they were Yggdrasil’s first successful attempt at creating Digimon. And others say the first was Lucemon.
Lucemon was the first of the holy angel Digimon, created by God to bring light to the Digital World and to stand ever vigilant guarding the Kernel. A being possessed of curiosity, virtue, and incredible power. Such was the divine power of Lucemon that from its data were made the Three Great Angels: the holiest of holies: Seraphimon, Cherubimon, and Ophanimon. Ere it came to pass that many choirs of angel Digimon were born, ranging from the lowliest of Luxmon at the bottom to Lucemon as their apex. Another angel Digimon was Bagramon, who was entreated with a special duty from God and Yggdrasil. Bagramon would be the ruler of death, destined to regulate the passing of Digimon and see their data reconfigured to be born anew.
What happened, oh mighty Lucemon, to change you so? Why did you abandon innocence and light? Was it something you discovered that warped your mind? Perhaps the code of the Crowns of the deadly sins? Or maybe you simply grew prideful and believed that you should stand above all. Pity that we cannot ask you now. Whatever the reason, evil came into the Digital World because of your actions and you began to scheme.
Lucemon came to the Three Great Angels and whispered sin into their ears. Seraphimon and Ophanimon listened to Lucemon’s blasphemous words and allowed evil to seep into their Digicores. Their very data was corrupted, twisting the once holy beings into Shadow Seraphimon and Ophanimon Falldown Mode. Only wise Cherubimon closed its ears to Lucemon’s lies and would not be turned. Thus did Lucemon craft an insidious virus from twisted data and plant it within Cherubimon’s code, to lie dormant until the time came.
Vital to Lucemon’s plan was Bagramon, who already was beginning to doubt God and Yggdrasil. It despaired the fate of all Digimon to fight, die, and be reborn to fight again. What true higher power would impose such an unreasonable justice upon its children? It was these doubts that Lucemon encouraged, hardening Bagramon’s Digicore and bringing it to Lucemon’s cause.
What none at this time knew was that the evil Lucemon brought into the Digital World did more than twist the minds of loyal angels into sin. It coalesced on an unused layer of the Digital World, seething and roiling in a cauldron of blasphemy, ever moving toward coherence, toward life.
One final obstacle stood before Lucemon. Even with the corrupted power of the Three Great Angels at its side, its rebellion would break like water against the rock that was Huanglongmon and its subordinate Holy Beasts. Thus Lucemon crafted an insidious plot. It came to Huanglongmon, bearing false report of a fatal instability in the Digital World’s code that only the first of the Holy Beasts could repair. Unused to the idea of falsehood, Huanglongmon believed Lucemon and followed it into a cave that led to the deepest of depths in search of the instability. Then did Lucemon spring its trap, collapsing the cave and leaving Huanglongmon trapped by the crushing weight and pressure of the entirety of the Digital World. Realizing what had happened, Huanglongmon unleashed a roar of rage and despair that shook the very foundations of the Digital World itself.
The roar of Huanglongmon was the signal to the other fallen. The virus within Cherubimon sprang to life, corrupting the holy angel and twisting it into Cherubimon Vice. Under the banner of Bagramon and the fallen Great Angels, Lucemon’s followers marched on the Drasil Tree, ready to invade the Kernel and destroy God and Yggdrasil. Bagramon was the first to reach the Kernel and struck it with a blow that could shatter mountains. The Kernel cracked, but the damage to Bagramon was worse. Its right side was obliterated by the Kernel and Bagramon fell, cursing in pain and hate.
It may be said that the blow to the Kernel was the first great act of evil. In that very instant, the Digital World shook and the fallen angels transformed. Shadow Seraphimon became Daemon, its armor breaking open to reveal the bestial hate within. Ophanimon Falldown Mode became Lilithmon, all vestiges of goodness within it sniffed out. And Lucemon became Lucemon Falldown Mode, mightiest of all demons, with its white and black wings showing both its holy origin and sinful existence. The armies of Lucemon surrounded the Kernel, ready to defile that most holy of places and claim victory. But the damage done to the Digital World would unleash a horror move could have expected.
In the unused layer of the Digital World, the formless evil that had grown there took shape and burst forth through the weakness caused by the attack on the Kernel. Emerging into the net ocean, the evil took the form of a red crocodile of such mass that its arrival flooded an entire continent. Despair, oh Digimon, for Leviamon the terrible had arrived!
Ironically, it was the arrival of Leviamon that saved the Digital World. The great deluge swept away much of Lucemon’s army, forcing the survivors to flee as the remaining loyal angel Digimon bore down on them. Lucemon’s rage burned like that of a sun, but he knew he could not win and ordered the retreat. The demonic army fled into the hole in the Digital World created by Leviamon.
Having escaped the armies of the Kernel,  Lucemon addressed his forces. “Today we failed, but tomorrow we shall strike again. I name this place the Dark Area and it will be our home and we will raise such terrible forces as to burn the Drasil Tree, break the Kernel, and dethrone God and Yggdrasil. I will remake the Digital World in my image, a place where my will is absolute and the darkness will ever reign. Behold! I bear seven Crowns. Each of these Crowns bears the power of pure sin, the will and power to oppose God. From the most powerful of us I will select six to bear one of these Crowns. Together, we will be the Seven Great Demon Lords and nothing will stand before us.”
“Lucemon donned one of the crows and declared “I take for myself the Crown of Pride, for am I not the mightiest and greatest of all creatures?”
Next it turned to Daemon. “To you I grant the Crown of Wrath, for your hatred of God burns brighter than all others.”
Next it turned to Lilithmon. “To you I grant the Crown of Lust, so that your honeyed words may sway all to our cause.”
Next it turned to Leviamon. “My fury is upon you for what you have done to me, but with your power at my side none shall oppose me and live. To you I grant the Crown of Envy. Power you shall have, but you will forever seek power out of your reach and hate those above you.”
Finally, Lucemon turned back to the forces of evil. “Three Crowns yet remain. All of you stand a chance of earning one for yourself. Go, battle for dominance. Plot and scheme. Bring death to your foes. Prove yourselves worthy and one of the three may yet be yours.”
“My lord, what of me?” asked Bagramon. “Have I not served you faithfully? Should I not be granted a Crown so that I may be of service to you?”
Lucemon looked upon Bagramon with scorn. “I will not spend a Crown of Sin on a broken creature. Repair your body and strength and you may earn a second chance. Nor will I spend a crown on Cherubimon, for it is not evil by choice but by my virus. Only the best and darkest of all may earn such glory.”
As Bagramon despaired and the Seven Great Demon Lords were born, so too did the forces of the Kernel begin their plans. Many new Angel Digimon were promoted to the Mega Level. Not only a new Seraphimon, Cherubimon, and Ophanimon to replace those who had fallen, but more new angels were made. To ClavisAngemon, God granted the key that opens the path to worlds beyond and instructed it to guard the path so that none may pass. To Rasielmon, God granted the sight of all the Digital World, and bade it to gaze upon enemy and ally alike and direct the forces of good. To SlashAngemon, God granted the authority over all the armies of the Kernel, and bade it to lead them into war. Yggdrasil too did not remain idle. Huanglongmon’s disappearance left its subordinate Holy Beasts struggling for power. In their imbalance, the Digital World was left unguarded. Yggdrasil called them forth and made a declaration. Each would guard one quarter of the Digital World. To Xuanwumon, eldest and wisest, Yggdrasil granted the north, where its wisdom could guide others to enlightenment. To Qinglongmon, mighty and aloof, Yggdrasil granted the east, a bastion to guard. To Zhuqiaomon, fiery and unforgiving, Yggdrasil granted the south, where its fire could burn the enemy. And to Baihumon, youngest and mightiest of the four, Yggdrasil granted the west, where the fighting would be fierce.
The Digital World slept uneasily. From the spires of the Index Mountains to the depths of the Net Ocean, all knew war was coming. A war that would reshape the Digital World or end it. In the coming years would be born many tales. Tales of the mustering of the Warrior Ten, of the corruption of Rasielmon, of Bagramon rising again to power yet only knowing betrayal, of the founding of the Royal Knights and the quest for the Digimental of Miracles, and of the last stand for the fate of the Digital World. Many more tales have been forgotten, lost in the violence and despair of the first and greatest of all wars. But when you read these tales, know this: It all started with Lucemon.

Digimon Survive Profiles
So there’s a “profile” option in the menu where you can view more info about Takuma and the gang. Thought it was a cute little idea, so I went ahead and typed it up for referencing down the line. More for my own convenience than anything, but maybe other people will like having it...? idk
I’ve personally only played through 2 routes so far, so there might be some minor updates in the future when I get through the other ones. That being said: spoilers for the game itself and all of its routes are behind the cut, so click at your own risk.
Tumblr media
Name: Takuma Momozuka Age: 14 Height: 166 cm Weight: 52.3kg Blood Type: A
Reason for Joining: "The mountain air will do you good," claimed Takuma's mom, leading him to join the camping trip. The boy knew well that he'd be doing something significant by studying history in a place far from the city, but in all honestly he lacked any real motivation to do so. This was his attitude, for better or worse. He lacked any strong feelings about the task—not caring enough to even consider it a pain. "Just get through a few days of the program, and I'll be back to my old life." With this mentality, Takuma headed for the camp.
Episode 1: This was supposed to be just another camping trip, but the events that've unfolded go against everything I've ever considered normal. Then there's weird talking animal... It even transformed to protect me! Don't tell me—these are "Kemonogami"?!
Episode 2: Somehow I was able to find my friends, but these Kenonogami aren't the only weirdness we're dealing with. The camp building's fallen apart, and monsters made off with Aoi! I admit the whole thing terrifies me, but we have to fight... We have no choice.
Episode 3: Shuuji's heartrending scream made my heart skip a beat. I wanted to save him, for my voice to reach him! I needed more power for that! As soon as I said it aloud, Agumon responded—with a new form that seemed to reflect what was in my heart...
Episode 4: If this outlandish other world has convinced me of anything, it's that my and Agumon's hearts are connected. Two as one... that's why he evolved into his ultimate form when I resolved not to lose, no matter what. We'll use this strength to protect everyone to the end!
Episode 5: Don't lose heart, don't give up, and never abandon your friends... Thanks to these three tenets, we've made it all the way to the final battle. We have a tough road ahead of us, but I'm not scared. After all, my dear friends and precious partner are by my side.
Partner: Agumon A monster called a "Kemonogami" that joined me after I came to this other world. He speaks human language, and is just about as smart as us. Oddly enough, he only wants to hang out with me. Plus, Agumon can transform sometimes. Our hearts are connected, and he's always by my side supporting me...kind of like a partner, I guess.
Evolution Line: (Moral) Agumon→Greymon→MetalGreymon→WarGreymon→Omegamon (Wrathful) Agumon→Tuskmon→Megadramon→Mugendramon→Omegamon (Harmonius) Agumon→Tyrannomon→Triceramon→Dinorexmon→Omegamon (True Route, Post-Game) Agumon→(any)→(any)→(any)→Omegamon / Huanglongmon
Tumblr media
Name: Kaito Shinonome Age: 14 Height: 170 cm Weight: 57.1 kg Blood Type: B
Reason for camping: Kaito was already at a loss over his sister Miu, and her frequent goofy behavior. At the same time, he was constantly worried for her safety. Just today, Miu vanished when his back was turned for the briefest of moments. Could she be caught up in some trouble, and hurt somewhere? Is some bad guy doing something terrible to her? He was searching high and low, clinging to these worries, when he met Takuma's group for the first time.
Episode 1: We met up with Kaito in the other world. He's clearly wary of anyone he runs into, possibly out of concern for his sister. Even now, he looks ready to bite our heads off. His wisecracking partner Dracmon seems cool as a cucumber, though.
Episode 2: He may be rough around the edges, but Kaito is a reliable part of the team. I don't approve of violence, but we'll need to fight if we want to make it in this world. In that sense, Kaito seems to fit right in here.
Episode 3: Even I can tell how attached Kaito is to his sister. If you asked her, she'd probably call him more clingy than anything else. Still, her presence may be the secret behind Kaito's strength...
Episode 4: Miu's not the only thing Kaito's been trying to protect. He wants to protect everything she holds dear... So his sister doesn't have to have any terrible, painful feelings ever again. That powerful wish transformed into power itself, evolving Dracmon into Beelzemon. Maybe his feelings for Miu got through to her a little now?
Episode 5: I don't know if he realizes it, but this almost endless journey of ours has changed him. Now he wields his strength not just for Miu, but for all of us... Gotta say, it's kinda cool.
Partner: Dracmon Dracmon is a Kemonogami that's been with Kaito ever since he showed up in the other world. He's as belligerent and hard-nosed as Kaito, making him a reliable and powerful ally in battle. Dracmon always prioritizes victory, and is willing to use his allies towards that end. Still, he's more pragmatic than cruel, always taking the most appropriate action.
Evolution Line: Dracmon→Sangloupmon→Vamdemon→Beelzebumon / BoltBoutamon (Harmonius Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Aoi Shibuya Age: 15 Height: 158 cm Weight: 44.8 kg Blood Type: A
Reason for Joining: Aoi never had much interest in the camp in the first place... At the time, an interview with a certain author had caught her attention. "My time camping as a student was a valuable experience that led to me becoming an author." Inspired by that article, she became gung-ho about camp, seeing it as an opportunity to change herself.
Episode 1: After we reunited with Aoi in this other world, the sight of these strange creatures didn't seem to bother her much. Scolding Minoru, looking after Labramon—she was the same girl we always knew. I thought she was a kind, if not uptight upperclassman. Turns out she had nerves of steel to boot.
Episode 2: Fangmon's words—"you're just playing the hero"—were like a dagger in Aoi's heart. But her desire to save everyone was the real deal. The valiance of Labramon's evolution, Dobermon, was proof of that.
Episode 3: At first, Aoi sought the "power to defeat" in order to become someone who could protect everyone. In response to that desire, Labramon evolved into Cerberusmon. That power was stronger, sharper than she could even imagine. Aoi was unsure if she could master such incredible power. Still, I'm sure she can find the right way to use it.
Episode 4: The moment Aoi pictured exactly the type of power she sought, Labramon evolved into Anubismon. A strong power to stand for justice, without losing herself to her own strength. I'm sure Aoi will keep using that strength to protect everyone.
Episode 5: Aoi's gotten so strong, I barely recognize the girl I first met at camp. Her strength helped bring us to the final confrontation. With her, I believe we can overcome anything that comes our way.
Partner: Labramon Aoi's Kemonogami partner, who looks like a dog. She has a lively attitude and works well with the gentle and reserved girl. Labramon adores Aoi, and never leaves her side. She feels the same for Labramon, and the two of them act almost like sisters.
Evolution Line: Labramon→Dobermon→Cerberumon→Plutomon (Wrathful Route) / Anubismon / Baihumon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Minoru Hinata Age: 14 Height: 159 cm Weight: 49 kg Blood Type: B
Reason for Joining: Ever since news came of the camp, Minoru waited with bated breath. Out in nature, away from our daily lives, facing untold dangers... and Minoru would take care of the problems in a flash, one after another. He saw a chance to become one of the superheroes he's adored since he was a kid.
Episode 1: My best friend Minoru also got sucked into this strange new world. I thought he'd freak out, but he's calmer than I figured he'd be—or at least cracking jokes about it. Having him around keeps me calm, but he's acting a bit reckless...
Episode 2: When Minoru first met Falcomon, he ran off with his tail between his legs. Now he cares about the little guy so much that he'll jump between him and the enemy to protect him. That "my body moved on its own" behavior on Minoru's part makes him pretty darn heroic.
Episode 3: Minoru's loose lips and endless array of jokes keeps everyone at ease. Still, his desire to be a hero was no joke—he's a dyed-in-the-wool aspiring hero. Lip service aside, he truly wants to be strong. His pure feelings caused Falcomon to evolve into Crowmon!
Episode 4: Strength to rally and fight, no matter how desperate the situation. No matter how his legs shake. That's the true strength Minoru wanted. The guy's a cool hero, warts and all. Seeing Varodurumon spread his wings made that clear as day to me.
Episode 5: Wisecracker, class clown, a bit of a wimp. Even if he doesn't live up to the ideals he had a kid, Minoru's come to accept who he is now wholeheartedly. I'm proud to call a guy like that my friend.
Partner: Falcomon Minoru's Kemonogami partner. Falcomon's arms are shaped like wings, and are useful for moving around. Calm and well-spoken, he acts as a clear contrast to Minoru's childishness. They complement each other; when Minoru's about to lose it, Falcomon's there to support him through any crisis. He's as cool as those heroes you'd see on TV.
Evolution Line: Falcomon→Diatrymon→Yatagaramon→Varodurumon / Zhuqiaomon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Shuuji Kayama Age: 16 Height: 176 cm Weight: 56.5 kg Blood Type: A
Reason for Joining: Wanting more real-world experience before applying to college—and to get serious about studying—Shuuji decided to apply to the camp. He was hoping to earn some brownie points towards a recommendation letter on the sly. If this camp could help him achieve that, his dad would see him in a better light... Sounds like a complicated relationship.
Episode 1: Our leader Shuuji wandered into this other world. I thought I could rely on him at first, but he's just as worried as the rest of us. Still, I wish he'd stop treating his partner so badly...
Episode 2: The sight of Lopmon wrapped in that ominous black smoke was burnt into our minds, and we just can't shake it. Shuuji... You've really pushed him to his limits, haven't you?
Episode 3: Shuuji couldn't acknowledge himself. Even so, he took a step forward, wanting to be someone Lopmon could be proud of. That powerful feeling, combined with his sense of responsiblity, evolved Lopmon into Antylamon. He told Shuuji to quit that "someone like me" talk. Even if Shuuji won't acknowledge himself, Antylamon has nothing but pride and affection for him.
Episode 4: All of the experiences in this world taught Shuuji to believe in his own righteousness. It seems that Cherubimon, Lopmon's new form, reflects his true strength.
Episode 5: I'm heading into the final battle with Shuuji at my side. I thought he'd be the most nervous of all of us, but I can't see a hint of it in his dogged appearance. I wonder if I can be as confident as him...
Partner: Lopmon The Kemonogami that accompanies Shuuji in the other world. Shuuji can't seem to stand his introverted and timid personality. Lopmon looks pitiful when scolded, almost like he's being bullied. I think Shuuji should be nicer, but for some reason Lopmon doesn't leave his side. I wonder why he doesn't run away...
Evolution Line: Lopmon→Turuiemon (True Route) / Wendimon→Antylamon (True Route)→Cherubimon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Ryo Tominaga Age: 15 Height: 162 cm Weight: 51.2 kg Blood Type: AB
Reason for Joining: Ryo didn't tell any classmates he'd applied for the camp. No one figured a lone wolf like him would join something like that, where group activities are unavoidable. The reason was an entry in an old journal of his mom's he'd found: "I hope one day Ryo gets to go to summer camp, and make lifelong friends like I did..."
Episode 1: My first impression of Ryo when I met him at camp was that he's a really intimidating, lone wolf type. But seeing him freak out at the little monsters we've met in this other world makes me think he's not all that scary...
Episode 2: Slowly but surely, this adventure in the other world has changed my opinion of Ryo. I just can't bring myself to dislike the guy. I can tell he's warming up to Kunemon little by little, and is trying to accept him. And the first time he called him his partner, Kunemon finally evolved!
Episode 3: The most surprising thing about Ryo is the way he interacts with his partner, Kunemon. He went out of his way to make handmade tools so they could train together. I would never tell the guy, but there's something almost maternal about it.
Episode 4: Ryo's bond with his partner's only gotten deeper. He wouldn't say that himself, but it's obvious just by looking at him. A part of me is almost envious of him.
Episode 5: From here on out I'm heading to the final confrontation, together with Ryo. Surprisingly, he doesn't seem nervous at all, despite the important battle ahead of us. The way he is now, I'd trust him with my life.
Partner: Kunemon A monster who never leaves Ryo's side, no matter how much he repulses him. Kunemon may look like a large caterpillar incapable of speech, but he seems capable of communication. While he gets worked up over said communication being one-way, the pair somewhat comprehend each other through body language. Ryo acts creeped out when Kunemon frets over him, but that may not be the whole truth of the matter.
Evolution Line: Kunemon→Flymon (True Route)→JewelBeemon (True Route)→BanchoStingmon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Saki Kimishima Age: 12 Height: 152 cm Weight: 40.3 kg Blood Type: AB
Reason for Joining: As soon as she heard about the camp, Saki quickly decided to join in; a so-called "spur-of-the-moment" decision. But an ulterior motive hid behind the girl's smile: making a "lifetime's worth" of memories. In truth, this might be her last chance, as far as she knew. Toward that end, she'd be as bright, bubbly and unbounded as always...hiding the doubt swirling around inside of her.
Episode 1: I'm not good with people like Saki. Says what's on her mind, gets along with everyone, and really gives you the business if you cross her. Still, she got caught up in this crazy adventure just like I did. To be honest, I'm not sure how this is gonna turn out...
Episode 2: The more I get to know Saki, the less I feel that apprehension I had about her at first. I thought she was a bit sharp-tongued, but over time I've come to see what a sweetheart she is. I wonder if she's dealing with more stuff than I can see on the surface...
Episode 3: Seeing how many friends she had back at school, I'm surprised to see how much Saki cares about her friendships. I didn't expect her to be so worried about getting along with someone so different from her like Aoi... Is there anything I can do to help, I wonder?
Episode 4: Right around the time I truly started seeing Saki as a friend, I came to learn a startling truth: the illness eating away at her. Still, she never uses her body as an excuse to run away... I have to admit, I find myself overwhelmed by her sheer guts.
Episode 5: Even if we win this fight and make it back to the human world, Saki has surgery waiting for her. We'll all be there to support her when the time comes. There's more "memories to last a lifetime" where these came from, and that's a fact!
Partner: Floramon The Kemonogami's been with Saki since she came to this other world. She looks like something part animal and part plant, and her bright and cheery attitude matches Saki's. They're always in sync, helping them overcome any crisis. Floramon gets Saki, and gives her gentle pushes when she needs it. Thanks to that, Saki's learning how to survive here.
Evolution Line: Floramon→Vegiemon→Blossomon→Ceresmon Medium / Xuanwumon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Miu Shinonome Age: 11 Height: 134 cm Weight: 29 kg Blood Type: B
Reason for camping: From the bottom of her heart, Miu was fed up with her brother Kaito. Her brother, admonishing her every action; her brother, the annoying, overbearing pain. She fled the house again today to escape his gaze, and that would be the catalyst that led her to Saki's group. "Today's going to be a fun one, I can tell," Miu thought.
Episode 1: I remember being confused when I met Miu. What an odd, free-spirited character... Not that my impression has changed that much. Still, according to Kaito she's been through her fair share of problems. Maybe that's why she's so harsh with her brother?
Episode 2: Kaito's in a bad way after trying to save Miu! Still, this seems to have provoked some sort of change in her. I'm not in Kaito's position, but... I can't help but be worried.
Episode 3: Up to now, the only one who'd protect Miu was her brother, Kaito. But it turns out she couldn't stand the idea of relying on him this whole time. The moment those feelings reached their apex—wanting to change, to become more determined—Mermaimon was released. With Syakomon by her side, it seems like Miu's grown up a bit. Still...apparently I can't tell her brother as much.
Episode 4: Always the protected one up until now, Miu wanted to defend her little friends for a change. Her unwavering heart caused Syakomon to evolve even further! MarineAngemon may be cute, but she's a powerhouse. Having Kaito recognize her growth made her pretty pleased with herself.
Episode 5: Our adventure is almost over...and I think it's safe to say Miu helped us get this far. She's grown so much, into a strong girl that thinks of her friends and fights for them. That's why I believe we can win the final battle.
Partner: Syakomon A Kemonogami, and Miu's partner here in the other world. The hard shell covering her body boosts her defense, I guess. Syakomon is a straight shooter, saying exactly what she means. She's the perfect partner for Miu, and would never abandon her in a crisis. Their connection gives Miu some innate understanding of the Kemonogami.
Evolution Line: Syakomon→Shellmon→Mermaimon→MarineAngemon / Qinglongmon (True Route)
Tumblr media
Name: Professor Age: -- Height: 182 cm Weight: 64.9kg Blood Type: AB
Reason for camping: Several years had passed since his last investigation of this land. The professor had dedicated his entire career to researching this topic, traveling the country in pursuit of it. Everything had started here. He had arrived back at his starting point by a circuitous path, indeed. He believed that surely a new discovery would present itself if he investigated this place once again. In the end, this conviction would prove to be right on the money.
Episode 1: I met a man who is supposedly a professor in the area where the camp's being held. It sounds like he's doing research on local legends. Still, I wonder what good it'd do to look into such silly tales...?
Episode 2: While searching the apartment complex, I overheard the professor talking about something complicated with Haru. I'm guessing that the man's hiding something from us... Now what could it be?
Episode 3: Several decades ago, a young professor—the real Haru—wandered into this other world with his sister Miyuki. Then Miyuki used her power to let her brother escape by himself to the human world. But after that, the trauma of the experience caused young Haru to repress his memories of the other world...Renamon blames the professor abandoning Miyuki. But that's not true, Renamon! For decades, the professor has continued his research on the Kemonogami. Even if he couldn't remember, deep down he wanted to save his sister!
Episode 4: The professor said he has things he needs to do in this world: saving Miyuki, and mending fences with Garurumon. For him, Garurumon was his "fated Kemonogami". Garurumon, on the other hand, treats the professor's extended absence as abandonment. There's got to be some way to get these two on the same page!
Episode 5: Garurumon—no, Gabumon, I should say—used to be a cheerful and good-natured creature. Even after separating five decades ago, the two of them were still able to reestablish their bond. To say it moved me doesn't even begin to cover how that made me feel.
Partner: Garurumon The Professor's Kemonogami partner from fifty years ago. He forgot about Garurumon at first, but I'm not surprised: he was so young when they met, I doubt his memories of that time are intact. In order to save her brother, Miyuki separated the Professor from his partner. Garurumon still bears a grudge over this, making him hostile towards us.
Evolution Line: Gabumon→Garurumon→WereGarurumon→MetalGarurumon
Tumblr media
Name: Miyuki Minase Age: -- Height: 140 cm Weight: 33.8 kg Blood Type: O
Reason for camping Miyuki continued a life on the run with her brother Haru. Saying nothing, showing no intent, moving in the shadows. They ventured from place to place until finally arriving at this school. Now what would they do? What should they do? The girl spoke nothing of these matters to her brother, staring off constantly into space. She remained silent, holding no hope for the future, simply following her brother's guidance.
Episode 1: I found Miyuki and her brother Haru lurking in the ruins of the wooden schoolhouse. She barely speaks, so I have no idea what she's thinking. The fact that she's survived here at all is probably thanks to Haru.
Episode 2: Miyuki and I returned to our world with Agumon. She was like a different person, talking normally and explaining lots of things to me: about the other world's Master, who controls the fog, and about the song handed down in the Minase family, with the power to connect the two worlds. Miyuki is a special maiden capable of using that song, so the Master's been gunning for her this whole time. Still, decades passed here while Miyuki was stuck in the other world... Doesn't that make her way, way older than the rest of us?!
Episode 3: I can't believe it... Miyuki fell into the enemy's grasp, and now she's turned on us! There's no way we can get back home without her, much less save both of our worlds. We have to rescue her somehow...but how?!
Episode 4: That gentle Miyuki just had her heart sealed away. When we called out to her, she came back to us for the briefest of moments. We still have a chance to turn her back to normal... That’s why I can’t give up.
Episode 5: For hundreds of years, the Master has waited for a maiden to inherit the power of the Minase clan. That's where Miyuki comes in. Still, I never thought of Miyuki as anyone so special. She's a simple girl who cares for her brother and her friends. She wouldn't be happy letting the Master possess her and hurt the people she cares about! Just hold on a bit longer, Miyuki! We'll save you, I swear it!
Partner: Renamon The Kemonogami Miyuki met when she came to the other world fifty years ago. Half of the girl's soul was stolen by the Master, making her lose her sense of self and forget her partner. Renamon took on Haru's appearance to support Miyuki. The girl can't even remember Renamon, but wouldn't have survived without the Kemonogami... How awful!
Evolution Line: Renamon→Kyuubimon→Taomon→Sakuyamon
Tumblr media
Name: Haru Age: -- Height: 132 cm Weight: 31.2kg Blood Type: AB
Reason for camping Haru fled from threat after threat with his sister Miyuki. In order to protect her—a taciturn girl whose emotions had all but vanished—the boy led her by the hand, making every decision for the pair. Where is the safest place for them? Are any enemies lurking nearby? And if so, would the next spot be any better? Finally, his trials brought them to this run-down school. Even then, the boy thought that this, too, would offer only a temporary respite. Soon enough, they'd have to abandon it as well.
Episode 1: We ran into Haru in the ruined school building. He doesn't speak much, but I felt there was something off about him. Like he's more mature than he should be... I wonder why?
Episode 2: Sometimes I feel like Haru speaks in a way that doesn't match his age. It's like he's more calm than just silent, and he never fails to look after his sister Miyuki. His behavior doesn't seem normal for a kid our age, but maybe it's just my imagination?
Episode 3: Haru—no, Renamon—couldn't care less about us. As long as Miyuki is safe, nothing else matters. Renamon's even willing to trade all of us to get her back... We have to convince Renamon to come back to our side, somehow!
Episode 4: Renamon is determined to rescue Miyuki, and has decided to join forces with us. Having someone as powerful as Renamon on our side is really encouraging. We're heading into the final battle with a truly stellar lineup.
Episode 5: Thanks to Renamon, we've figured out our final destination. I want to help Renamon meet up with Miyuki as soon as we can. Meet, and never have to be apart ever again...

The ONE TIME I don't check Digimon Survive News is the day a 6 minute trailer for it comes out, hhhhhhhhh.
Gonna talk about some Cool Things about that trailed cause I'm very excited for Survive, mostly visual stuff since I don't know Japanese.
-BRANCHED EVOS FOR THE SIDE CHARACTERS, you can see in the trailed when they show Sangloupmon, Dracmon's Ultimate/Mega branches, probably only the Ultimate's/Mega's for the side characters but I still like there having branches, timestamp is 4:27 cause it's really easy to miss.
-Tyrannomon as an official Agumon Evolution here! There's pictures (that don't appear in the trailed) showing Tyrannomon taking the place of Greymon in the evolution shot thing, and those are real from what I can tell, trailer-wise you CAN actually see Tyrannomon as Takuma's Partner, at 4:34 of the trailer, same with Diatrymon being Falcomon's evo!
-THE ART OF THIS GAME IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL, I love all the lighting and the art style of this game so much, plus it seems like the camera is pretty fantastic, with all the panning and close ups and general movement it's doing, something I find charming is that in one of the shot the camera bobs up and down to make it feel like your walking. That and also I just really like the limited animation and posing of this game, there's a lot of neat character poses and expressions, plus the poses and attacks the chibis do are really cute. Also Dracmon doesn't open his mouth and I love that.
Interesting thing to note: Some Shots are done in a comic style with panels, I don't know I just thought that was cool.
-THE SIBLINGS, THE TWO BLACK HAIRED ONES, I love how they just started the trailed with the sister getting forcibly dragged by the hands, also apparently the opening shot is the story of the Kemonogani, meaning that could mean those children got sacrificed. Also the girl seems to be connected to those weird frog thingys which *eyes*.
-I love the show where Arukenimon is right behind purple headband guy and he just...looks towards Arukenimon, really feels like a "...It's right behind me isn't it?" moment.
-Actually a lot of the new mons we saw are interesting, Arukenimon, Garurumon, Monzaemon, Gotsumon, even Biyomon, Palmon and Patamon, which we see terribly hurt in some sort of castle-like area, and there's also the weird frogs and that ball that you can see in the action turn part of the battlefield sometimes.
-HAT GUY IS NOT DEAD BUT ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT! I've seen some places call him a Professor and that seems to make sense with the footage we've seen of him. Really curious to know what his role here is.
-HUANGLONGMON MIGHT BE HERE! At the end there's a mural thing they find and the beast there seems to be Huanglongmon, now if it is, is still unclear but they do look similar. Still interesting to note
-Weird Cloak Guy has been repeatedly been compared to Piedmon, for multiple reasons but the main evidence is the blue ribbons behind them and the heart charm thing, not completely sure if I believe this but the Weird Cloak Guy is VERY NOTEWORTHY so it is here.
There's probably more things I missed but I am tired, I'm so excited for Survive.

I can't take this anymore so... digi rejuv rambling time!
So in my Digi AU, the overall story is split into three volumes: Ancient, Past and Present.
Ancient This volume covers the Human World's first recorded contact with the Digital World (it's implied that the two worlds had made contact before in the past, but it's unclear as to who, where, when and how it happened). It's about a team of young researchers who stumbled upon the Digital World by chance, and began a years-long investigation on this mysterious new reality. However, a few years later, they eventually got caught in the crossfires of the fierce war between Huanglongmon and Lucemon over the throne of the Digital Emperor, resulting in the brutal death of one of their own. With the help of their Digimon partners, the remaining ten started a crusade to bring an end to the war and stop Lucemon's destructive rebellion.
"Ancient" takes place approximately 28 human years (est. 5000 Digital years) before the events of "Present".

Past This volume is a direct sequel to "Ancient", taking place roughly 13 years after the conclusion of the previous volume. Set in an alternate Tokyo-esque city in the late 2000s, technology has improved drastically, and with the rapid advancement of technology holograms have become much more widespread and common. However, there came rumours of holograms malfunctioning and acting erratically, terrorising anyone unfortunate to be in its reach... as if possessed.
One such teenager, Orion, was among the most recent victims of a Hologram Ghost attack... and they would've lost their life if they had not stumbled upon one of their mother's belongings: a Digivice resembling a smartwatch, during the chase. And by synchronising themself with the Digivice, they inadvertently became partnered to an energetic Gammamon and a grumpy Cygnimon, leading them down on a wild adventure beyond their imagination...
Unlike in the "Ancient" volume, the main antagonist is a fanatical cult who worship Digimon as their god known as the "Apostles of Meteor". They believe in a prophecy predicting that the two worlds would collide and merge with the arrival of a calamitous meteor, and they seek to make it come true at any cost. And to aid them in their crusade, they infused the X-Antibody into their partner Digimon to empower them, believing it to be the "blessings" of their gods. They were eventually defeated and apprehended, while the few who defected to Orion's side were integrated into their group that would eventually form a diplomatic organisation which aimed to foster peaceful relations between the Human and Digital Worlds.
However, they mysteriously vanished without a trace in the aftermath of a global disaster known as the "Digital Fallout", which left Orion's hometown in ruins and abandoned by its surviving inhabitants as it was said to be the disaster's epicentre.

Present The "Present" volume takes place in the early 2020s, in a shining bustling city known as Aevium City (which is also one of the few cities around that remain firmly pro-Digimon following the Digital Fallout, making itself known as a popular spot for Tamers). The story centres around a teenage girl named Artemis and her partner Dorumon, who was moving in to start a new life with her adoptive mother Nancy and her partner Renamon.
But it doesn't take long before she realises that Aevium is not what it appears to be, as she and her new friends quickly became entangled with the Xen Syndicate, their conflicts ultimately leading them into the Digital World where they each discover dark secrets - some were dark family secrets, others the truth about their identities and the truth behind the cause of the Digital Fallout. One such secret, however, ties the ancient past to the present, and it's now up to them to finally put the restless ghosts of the past to rest.
