DAY 25: favorite A.R.B. au

🎤 Quest 2

Really tough fight between Quest 1 (Gentaro and Dice!!!!!!!!), Quest 2 and High School Hypnotic Microphone (yes, I'm still stuck on this fic)…but then I absolutely couldn't not talk about Ichiro with long hair, Samatoki with the braid, Jakurai with the monocle, fairy Ramuda, ninja Kuko and … whatever Sasara is. LOOK AT THEM. Ichiro with long hair is one of the most heavenly visions I've ever had, he almost looks like he's cosplaying Kenshin…whereas, Samatoki dressed like that? The bandit/swordsman figure suits him PARTICULARLY well (maybe I'd worry). Ramuda comments for himself…. But Jakurai. Jakurai with his long flowing hair (#Pantene), neatly braided, wearing a monocle and holding a wizard's book…rejuvenated by at least 15 years. I can't possibly make it. Kuko dressed as a Ninja looks great, for some strange reason it seems like a very fitting role for him (leaving aside how cool the outfit itself is)…while Sasara is always beautiful (although the staff vaguely reminiscent of the Plague mask unsettles me a bit, I confess).

You couldn't believe what just left Nemu's mouth. What was supposed to be a very relaxing lunch out now had turned to your worst nightmare. Ichiro looked dumbfounded, the spoon of rice never making it to his mouth.

You broke the silence first. You whirled to the younger Aohitsugi sibling. "Why would you say that?! I trusted you!"

"It's not like you were going to tell him. You would have been quiet after I would have confessed to him." Nemu said softly, looking down. "You heard what I said, Y/N." She sighed before repeating the sentence that made your heart drop. "I like him too."

"You-" You put your face in your hands and sighed then leaned back in your chair, defeated. You took your hands away from your face and stared at the ceiling. The big secret was out and you had no idea how to deal with it. "This was not how I wanted to tell him, Nemu."

Nemu looked down some more. "I know, but I was planning to tell him today…, but I knew you have feelings for him so I just needed to be honest."

You couldn't stay mad at her, she was your friend after all. You also understood where she was coming from. Nemu wasn't someone who was going to just give up on what she wants and… you also knew you would have stood away if she did say her feelings. Your friend was right, but this really wasn't what you wanted.

"Um…," Ichiro put down his spoon and pushed his plate forward. He leaned forward on the table with both arms. "I…" He sighed, bowing his head. "Look, I don't know what to say to the both of you. I kinda wanna sort out my feelings first, if that's alright with the both of you?" He looked down at his meal, and you wondered if he was thinking of just taking it home instead. Ichiro looked back at the both of you, his red and green eyes meeting your gazes.

"Nemu." Ichiro said and reached over the table to take her hand. Nemu looked up with a start, her eyes widening. "You are a wonderful friend and one of the people I most trust in the world," He said gently. "But I would like some time to think about my feelings. I care about you deeply…, I'm just not sure if it is in that way. Okay? Give me some time."

Nemu noded quietly. "Okay." She said with a small smile. "I understand."

He looked to you now and also took your hand. "Y/N." He sighed. "We've also been through a lot together and you've helped me out at home with Jiro and Saburo…, but I need to also think about my feelings. I love you both, a lot and I just don't want anything to ruin our friendship. Please give me time."

You nodded. "Yes, Ichiro-kun."

Ichiro smiled at the both of you. He sighed, letting go of your hands. "I guess that ends this lunch?"

You both nodded, and just watched as Ichiro called over the waiter so you can have your meals to go.

How long did this take me? I mean I took months to finish this, but uhhhhhh according to IbisPaint, almost 60 hours. :’^)

Either way, I’m pretty happy with the result! I want to practice some video editing stuff to make these images into a video, but it’s going to take awhile for me to figure that out. Enjoy the fruit of my efforts either way!

We're halfway through this challenge!!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° ARGHHHH, the immediate choice would have gone to Murder at the House of Magic. Because, geez. Singing Dice's parts makes me feel sooo cool! But I feel like I've talked enough about it. And I could really quote an infinite number of songs and parts of Ichiro, Dice, Gentaro, Doppo and so on, but I suppose I have to choose just one song, so... ¯\_₍ッ₎_/¯ Let's give these bad boys a chance to shine, too, considering I haven't mentioned MTC so far.

This song slaps so damn hard. I know every.single.word by heart.

The introduction kicks ass alone, with that sort of military-style march/countdown that I think is simply perfect for the badass side of MTC (the other side is the one that evokes Yokohama sunsets, but that's off topic now).

The refrain gets me so much, but the thing that makes me feel extremely cool is playing Samatoki, who starts out in a vaguely bored tone with his usual slogan "Raifu is notto feaa" (translation: Life is not fair), and then gets pissed off toward the end of the verse in such a cool way! AAAARGH.

And then also the point where Jyuto says "Nanda, temee?", with that sort of sarcastic chuckle at the beginning that also makes me feel really cool while playing him.

And also Rio?? Strangely enough? I love that way he says "Ten mo iran KAUNTO"

Not to mention the pressing rhythm with which Samatoki attacks in his second verse. I simply can't refrain from beat my foot on the beat!

I feel like HypMic is at this weird point where they are lingering on how they want to proceed forward. I feel like the music for the 2nd DRB was very experimental, and I did appreciate that even if I didn't like all the music (except for that DragonAsh song tho that was ass LOL). It feels like KR is struggling with how to move forward with telling a story while using the voting system, as such they've kinda written themselves into a corner. Like it was obvious they wanted FP to win the 2nd DRB because it was needed for plot. But at the same time it really feels like the plot has slowed to a crawl at the same time, and between that and the music creeping away from rap you're kinda left with a feeling of disappointment overall. It esp hits harder when you're a fan of BAT and DH given how under utilized they still are in the grand scheme of things. But given how they placed them geographically it feels like yet another instance of KR accidentally writing them into a corner and struggling to rectify that so they can be more relevant but also make it make sense, idk. I still love Kuko no matter what even if the series is currently languishing. (it also doesn't help that there isn't really any unified fandom because of politics, too much content too fast, and people being so oshi-pilled they have no interest in touching content that doesn't interest them. Which again, sucks as BAT fan cuz we don't really have a translator solider for us.)

what’s really really annoying about that, is that it has been put out there that we’ve entered the third act in hypmic’s story and tho it’s not always necessarily the case, usually that means we are heading towards an end. and we are starting to see an end with a lot of og division plot threads so to be closer to the end than not and still having like a third of your cast floundering around is not good!!!!! at all lol!!!! unless there’s a max effort push to bring nagosaka into the fold, it really does feel like nagosaka, no matter what, will feel under utilised

hypmic’s slow to come plot bombs have been a staple since the beginning so i’m not mad at it, esp since i suspect those long waits have something to do with production values and making the next shiny, economically stimulating thing lol, but you’re right about it not being great rn when everything else is not great lol

but i will say hypmic has its formulas. like the way first solos were surface level character introduction raps and the second solos went into depth, for the og divisions, their first drb and preceding dramas were introductory and the 2nd drb dramas really dug deep into them. so hopefully the same will happen for nagosaka when the 3rd drb drama hits them lol 🤞
